She is really great teacher. I am in Graphic Design major, and I have learned a lot from her classes.
Awesome teacher
Had her when she was at AI... One of the best instructors I have had. Always in a good mood and she makes the class fun. Learned alot as well - she knows her stuff.
Great teacher; She's is a great person as well. Loads of fun and very informational.
great teacher very helpful
Great class, a lot of projects but it is a fun class

Karen is a great teacher. She is very clear on what she wants for each project and the class is really fun. It never got boring.
Lost of projets but the teacher is absolutely wonderful. she's very fun and caring. Open to new ideas and never puts anyone down for a project but helps them out to improve it.
She is wonderful, so easy to understand, the best graphic design teacher I've had so far. Easy and fun projects, cool teacher.
Truly an amazing, fun, down to earth, easy teacher. One of the best teachers i've had since i've actually been in school! (that's including K-12)I'd advise anyone to take her! There was only 4 projects the whole semester, so there's plenty of time to work on them! TAKE HER!
KAREN!!!! After sitting through other graphic design classes without Karen makes me and others count down the days until another one of Karen's classes start! If you don't take any of her classes, I can't begin to tell you what you're missing! The best part? She doesn't rely on the text, you learn from your own experiences and do your own thing.
She is the best example of good teacher. She knows her stuff. She is down-to-earth. She is kind to anybody. She does not humiliate your work. And she is fun.
great class. craaaaazy amount of projects, but got excellent portfolio stuff out of it. she's cool
She is a great teacher and she knows what she is talking about. The class is difficult and there are a lot of projects. Half the class you do projects that you draw or create yourself and the other half of the class you use the computer to create your projects. Overall, I thought that it was a fun class and I really enjoy it.
She's great! Try to take her class when she is NOT team-teaching. Your portfolio will be full if: you take all the assignments seriously and give yourself enough time to do it right.
I love Karen! She treats her students like people not students! She has an awesome sense of humor and is always willing to help! After taking her classes I cannot WAIT to take another with her. I learned so much and my portfolio shows it. She cares about helping you grow in your art. Effort is what matters to her more than anything
This is the Digital Illustration class, and I learn alot and it was fun. She goes through step by step how to do something. She is willing to help. She wants you to succeed and have a fabulous portfolio. This is the second time I have taken her and I will take her again. Class attendence is mandatory!
She is the best. Lots of experience from real world. Instructions clear and easy to follow. Creative assignments.
Karen is the best teacher I've ever had. period. I've taken 3 classes with her and she's amazing.
The Semester is not over yet and I am not sure what grade I will get, but let me tell eeveerryyboodyy something!K. Taylor is SO amazing that I just have to rate her at 3:47 AM in the morning and I have her later at 10:30. As long as you are not lazy (everybody knows for himself) then you will be fine. She is smart, helpful and understands fun!
I'm taking this class online right now and the only complaint I have is a certain book fiasco from the beginning of the semester. The school website listed one book, the syllabus listed another one and one of the first emails Prof Taylor sent out listed an entirely different one! And she's not the fastest responding to emails.
Great Personality and always willing to help. She gives lots of good advice too!
I wish she answered emails and was more helpful.
Great teacher. She has lots of passion for the subject and knows real world stuff too.
I love this class and love the teacher. You have to have self discipline, and it's a lot of work but you will get GREAT portfolio pieces.
Karen is THE BEST GRAPHICS TEACHER I've ever had. She is a lovely person. She is well into the business and knows what she's talking about and knows how to use it in the real world. Awesome, easy class, little book work, very artistic, and just FUN!
Very easy class w/ minimal homework each week. Little to no instructor interaction and slow email response times. This is one of those course that you get out of it, what you put into it. Great summer school class, but not yet fully confident in using Adobe Creative Suite. Highly recommended :)
This was a great class, I didn't know much about graphic design before I took it but after Professor Taylor's class I'm changing my major! Fun projects and lots of real world advice. TAKE THIS CLASS
There's no clear schedule for the semester to tell you when things are due which is extremely stressful for an online class. I've taken an online class every semester that I've attended Saddleback but this one was just impossible to be/stay engaged in. the 'lessons' are also extremely vague and barely relevant. Only recommend if you know photoshop.
Great class overall. Fun project and I learned a lot about the different software. Instructor answered my emails and assignments are all organized week by week. Like most online classes you get out of it what you put into it :)
Fun class, you'll learn a lot about what goes on in a graphic designer's mind, and you might even recognize techniques you practiced in ads around you in real life after. First half of semester was weird art projects but then settles into computer work. Book only used for weekly questions.
Love Professor Taylor. She is funny, nice to talk to, and helped me very much with my final project. She is very knowledgeable in her field and teaches you everything you need to know. Definitely one of my favorite classes.
Great instructor! My favorite graphic design teacher! Caring and knowledgeable. The final project was a menu for a fictitious restaurant. I loved it!
Good class, got a good foundation in the different software. Fun project.
Fun class! a lot of projects but its easy if you stay on top of it.
If you want an easy A, she's the teacher for you. But if you want to take this class to better your art skills, get another teacher. She rambles far too much for anything to actually get done in class and will shoot down your ideas instead of working with them to your advantage. Not to mention the $200 textbook that Is hardly used but required.
Amazing class and professor, I've already learned so much about design and about using the software. Take this class!
The assignments are very easy and can be fun. You definitely need the textbook and Adobe Design softwares. The only thing I can say is that I emailed her for advice about 2 months ago and never got a response lol. Fun and easy grade for sure!
Course was a blast, the main assignment is creating a country and then designing things for it. Got some new skills in the bag, and made some cool projects.
Took her class during the summer and she basically was nonexistent. Took an eternity to reply to emails and wasnt very interactive with her class. It felt like she was on holiday. A bit frustrating and disappointing. The assignment were easy and basically just followed the book,
Had her for a summer online class. Class was great, really well organized, only problem was trying to find the textbook. She answered all my emails, and was willing to help when I needed it, even offered to find on campus lab time for me.
Professor Taylor was very helpful, yet at the same time pushed us to think for ourselves and solve our own problems. Expect to put in a lot of work outside of class to complete your projects. Critiques were very helpful.
She is a very nice professor. She likes my projects even though it's not perfect. She is not picky about other students work. She is very helpful and nice.
Class is a great intro to Adobe software. Class has no book, so great on the wallet! Projects are great, and Prof Taylor responded to emails super fast. Take this class!
Karen is the best! Very knowledgable and really makes an effort to know every student and get them to do their best work.
Good class
My absolute favorite graphic design teacher! I'd take anything Professor Taylor taught.
The feedback from the instructor is amazing and really helpful.
Professor Taylor is amazing but I have a feeling Saddleback already knows that.
I feel so much more advanced in Illustrator and also Vector Artwork.
Fun class! You get to build your own restaurant utilizing photoshop and illustrator and is easy to follow along with projects.
Great class that's online. Easy to understand. I even turned in some late assignments and she still graded them and gave me full credit. Great teacher
It was great learning how to make a portfolio for future jobs and internships. Also learning how to use adobe illustrator and designing.
She seems like she'd be great in a physical setting but for an online course she is nonexistent. Doesn't respond to emails and has a lack of direction for leading the class. Discussion posts/comments are graded assignments but she never facilitates or creates them. The content and course are great, so you learn a lot, just with issues along the way
This class was fun and informative. I am a stay at home mom, so finding the time to get all the required work done was my challenge. The Professor is amazing and I learned so much.
It was great! Love Professor Taylor!
The best part for me was completing the creative assignments and learning Adobe products that I have been wanting to learn for a long time. I learned so many tips and tricks. I saved links that the Professor provided because they were very helpful and I will use this information in the future.
She is an awesome teacher. Very informative and present in her teachings and class.
I loved Professor Taylors class. She is an extremely kind, patient, and encouraging, and loves going out of her way to help students. I really appreciated how she always considered input from the entire class the projects; it was never just her opinion.
This has been a great class!
I have been learning many new things that I know will help me grow and thrive in my major.
Easy grader. Just do the work.
Took as an online class that never meets. She gives you the online textbook so it's free. The content is all learned on your own from the textbook. You learn Photoshop the most out of the three and only a little of InDesign. Never had to email her. Allows for late work and only a few things due each week.
I was a little hesitant when I read the syllabus and saw the premise for the class was creating a country. But now that Ive completed it, I see that its a very creative approach to learning Adobe. It was great to have full control over the style of the designs I made, and theyre all great projects to add to my portfolio!
Overall, this was one of the most important and informative courses in my whole study. I learned the basics on some really great tools that I will definitely be exploring and using on future designs. I think the professor did a great job relaying critiques and teaching this course. I am sad to go, but I am proud of the work I have done. THANK YOU!!
Will accept late work even till last day. Grades on effort not on how good art is. She'll let you use the textbook from the year before. Demos are done in class and are important so go to class. Super chill and lets the students talk and chat with Zoom and even joins in. Do all assignments and you'll get an A. Is super understandable with students.
This was a great introductory class. I've never thought of myself as creative, but seeing what I can do is really encouraging! I learned the most about Adobe Illustrator.
Prof offered a "Broadening the Picture" section every week that went beyond the text and really made me think. Lots of reading and writing, but learned a lot.
I really enjoyed this class. There is a lot of homework but I learned a lot. Even though there are a lot of assignments and I found them all to be fairly easy.
It was great learning how to use Illustrator and becoming knowledgeable of different design strategies. I have learnt a lot about the tools available and how to use them to create illustrations in different styles that are aesthetically pleasing.
Many assignments taken from free textbook provided. Easy work but professor is very hands off. Does not provide any feedback and never replies to emails. Since assignments are taken from textbook, the student is pretty much taught from the book and not by the professor - extremely limited contact. Good if you enjoy complete independent work.
This was the most fun I've had in a course in a while - I didn't want the class to end. I learned a lot and really enjoyed the assignments.
The best part of this class for me was being able to show my creativity through the different projects. I have always been an artistic and creative person so I really enjoyed being able to create my own country and come up with my own ideas for what everything would look like.
The creative freedom that I had was very fun for me to experiment with and made the course most enjoyable.
Assigned 4-7 assignments per week for one class. I took asynchronous and because of this, I had a very hard time getting ahold of Professor Taylor for questions on Adobe, class feedback, clarification on rubric, etc. Had to google A LOT. Doesn't seem very interested in helping reach a resolution about a missed assignment / grade question.
Professor is great, but I chose an online 8-week course in a subject I am not great in. I was bound to struggle, especially since the lectures are just written summaries of each chapter. If I had chosen a longer course or an in-person class, I think I would've learned more. I added this class last minute so its pretty much my fault.
I discovered my personal design style throughout the country project's progression, and I was able to better explore the ways in which I could communicate my ideas through actual designs on the Adobe platforms.
I feel like Professor Taylor is a pretty fair grader and the class wasn't terribly hard. I took this in the 8 week online class and although I think I would have done better if it was a full 16 week course, that was my choice and I still did well in the class and learned valuable information. Mostly reading and proving you did the readings w/ exams
The class schedule was kinda messy, but overall fun class and she seemed cool in the lecture videos.
She allowed for a lot of creativity within the specific class project metrics
Gave good lecture videos on how to use Adobe Illustrator for our projects, great communication.
Exceptional instructor who goes above and beyond! Karen provides kind and productive feedback and is always willing to personally help you out if you're stuck. She gives her students creative freedom and never makes them feel bad if they're beginners. I highly recommend her class. She is a truly awesome person who is great at what she does!
Was very hard to get a hold of. Her number is listed as a place to contact her, but I called her about 5 times over the course of two weeks, and never received a call back from her. Only after a few emails did she respond to answer some questions I had. Otherwise, she was very knowledgeable on the subject, and gave good feedback.
I loved all the assignments. I think it helped that I put so much into it and if felt very personal, but I just really enjoyed designing each item.
Take this class! If you're choosing between professors, choose Taylor. Her course was organized, thorough, fairly easy, and honestly fun. As long you do the work, which isn't very heavy, you should get an easy A. Do make sure to plan accordingly for the 1 essay you do. It's only for planning's sake for making designs for your own fictional country.
Took this online, and she was amazing!! It was such a fun class too I enjoyed every assignment! If you just watch her videos you will do great. Super nice and overall fun and pretty easy class!!
If you are taking this course to transfer credits. DO NOT. professor completely ghosted me and never gave me a syllabus (which is REQUIRED by the school). Wasted my money for a class.
I loved this class! Professor Taylor gave very nice feedback and showed genuine interest in every assignment I turned in. All the assignments were very creative and her video lessons for the various aspects we worked on were very clear. It was a super fun summer course so if your looking to learn a little about graphic design, highly reccomend.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I only took it to fill an art elective and thought it would be easy. Instead, the first week had three assignments and a quiz from a 25-page reading, all short answer questions. I usually thug it out and finish my work, but this class just wasn't worth it. If you want an easy class, DON'T TAKE THIS ONE!
