She is so much fun! She's one of those professors who is more interested in helping the students learn versus testing. She also has a clue about what students are up to and gives good advice.

Makes health class fun by breaking th mold and is not always politically correct. Not shy to ask what you had to drink last night. Study study guides and tests will be ok. Even if you fail - you have alot of EC to gain points.

Take the online class. It may take some time, but you only go to class 4 times the semester, and that is to take the tests. If you study your study guides, you will do well in this class. And the modules online and fun and interactive...not to mention rather easy. :-)

She's very easy and funny. I took the online course and its the best way to go! yo meet 4 times a semester and thats only to take a 50 question test. soo easy! i hear that if you like talkin about sex, take her sex-ed course and you'll have a ball in there too.

Ms.Vail-Smith's self-paced online curriculum should be the model for all distance education. She is a fantastic teacher!

Luckily took her online class and that was easy as hell. Is very helpful and nice, replies to emails quickly and health is easy anyway, just a lot of busy work, so her lectures are probably just as clear as the online information we got

Karen is an awesome teacher. This is the best class I have ever taken here.Its not hard at all. You have homework every week but it only takes like 5 mintues to do and u get 100 just for doing it. The tests are really easy.

I took the online class, and it was extremely easy. The quizzes come straight from your notes, though the exam takes a little more effort. She responds in a timely manner if you have questions. Everything is through the internet, no campus meetings and you can work at your own pace. Great class.

Very nice! I took the online course...she answered any question and the material was relatively simple...quizzes and and test come straight from the online lessons...must do discussion boards...keep up with your work and it is a breeze!

Class was a breeze. I mean, it was basic health which is like all your health courses from high school rolled into one semester. But she was a total doll, offered to work with you if you were having issues and still managed to make the class fun. Prompt with email responses and very understanding and patient. If you get a chance, opt for her class.

Half the class is online. Really easy. Study guides for tests. Powerpoints. Passports and thats it. Online assignments on the day you get off. Recommended.

If you have the opportunity to take this class online, you should. It's a very easy class, and you learn alot about mental health, physical health, etc. 12 online quizes, one final exam and some assignments to do. on an 8 point grading scale, but if you do the notesheets prior to quizes and read for the exam, its an easy A, honestly

Make sure you do the study guide and you will ace the test.

All you have to do is do your assignments (answers are given to you in the online tutorials), go to class and know the study guide, if you do that you will get an A.

I've been hearing about this class since I go to ECU. It's not an easy A, you have to study for the class to do well. But the subject is so interesting that it's not hard to study. She's very caring and funny...you'll like her.

Easy class. You only have to go once a week and there are REALLY simple online assignments that you can do for credit any time. There really aren't many due dates. The made a 78 on the first test and barely studied. She gives study guides and she's a really nice lady. Very helpful. Take her!

She is an awesome professor. She tries to make awkward subjects funny and interesting. She cares about her students and wants them to do well. If you mildly study for her tests and do the online assignments there is no way you can get a bad grade.

Such a great class! I took it online, and the only dude date was the last day which everything was due. VERY good class if you plan on going away for vacation in the summer and don't want to work during that time. If you take notes with the notesheet she provides, there is no reason why you should get anything below an A! She makes it ineteresting!

Easy Class, Everything is due at the end of the class so you can finish it in a month if you want. I took it in the fall DE. Final is Tough but it is straight from the book so make sure to read the book!

Very easy class, and she is willing to work with you if something happens. My chapter assignment corrupted 2 days before the final due date, and she gave me a week extension to turn it in. Very nice lady, and there should be no problem making an A in this class.

The class itself was incredibly easy. The online lessons are boring but not difficult at all. I recommend reading the chapters in the book before any tests since she really doesn't cover the information in class. In class, she would get on random tangents and couldn't get back to the topic. Fun, but not very helpful. Entertaining to say the least.

There is a lot of work but you do it at your own pace, if you have no self discipline don't take it. I did the work every week. It is interesting and I learned a lot.

Mrs. Vail-Smith is great. The coursework is completely laid out from the beginning and you have a due date at the end of the semester where you have to have everything done and turned in to blackboard. The assignments are really easy and the final wasn't bad either. She is really quick to respond to emails and thoroughly answers all questions.

Dr. Vail-Smith is an amazing teacher, and she has online teaching down to a science. Everything is laid out perfectly on first day of class, and you have the entire semester to complete all of the assignments. You will be busy and learn a lot, but you will need self-discipline, or you WILL not be able to catch up at the end.

This class was a bit demanding with so many exercises, but they were easy. However, she seems to be afraid of cheating because exam is proctored, AND COUNTS AS 50% OF FINAL GRADE. I studied very hard and the final exam score of 79 brought my final score just below an A. Be prepared.

She is really sarcastic, but an easy teacher and it's an easy A.

She is super funny and makes class enjoyable. She sends study guides before each test and the test follows them exactly. When you register for the class it might say Monday and Wednesday class, but you only actually have to go one day a week. She's great!

Oh my gosh, this was my favorite class I have ever taken in my years of college so far. Mrs. Vail-Smith is so funny and has no shame. Her classroom setting was so laid back and made you feel comfortable. Get involved in her class. She loves it. I did a lot in this class and she offered me a TA position. TAKE SEXUAL HEALTH.

Health 1000 is mandatory so I had to take it, but I'm glad I took it with Mrs. Vail-Smith. She's so funny and loves to make the class interesting by getting us to share stories, opinions, and participate more. It makes the class more fun and interesting, not to mention she's hilarious. The class is so easy, do the study guide and you ace the class.

The only complaint I have about this class is the final. Way too much material to remember everything, in my opinion. But I don't think Ms. Vail-Smith has anything to do with the final. Her online class was awesome. You could complete it at your own pace, so it's great for busy people. Take her!

Awesome professor-- Very helpful! but in order to get an A in her class, you MUST on your final exam! She gives out the study guide as early as the first 3 wks of the sem. Start working on it and on the, discussion board, homework and quizzes-- i bet ya, ull get an A!! Dont wait until the last 2 wks of the sem. No way to get a good grade, if you do

Loved this class because it was self-paced! One due date and she has everything organized nicely. 12 weeks of work (DB, online assignment, quiz) for each week. Final exam study guide to complete comes directly from textbook. Final exam comes straight from study guide. A lot of work but it is not hard. Just keep yourself on schedule for an easy A+

Karen is extremely nice and funny. The only downside to having her as your health professor is that her health exams are different than all of the other health exams and her study guides are different. If you do the study guides and the online quizzes youll be fine!

Okay I'm gonna be honest, forgot I was taking this class for the whole semester. Did the entire class in a couple days, took the final, got an A. If I can do that, anyone can. She has clear grading criteria and you can knock out all the modules fast.

REALLY REALLY EASY. Did the whole class online in two days. Learned about health. Took an online exam. 12 chapters, one 10 question quiz a chapter and 2-3 moduals with 2-3 questions to anwser each. Super easy did it within the first week of classes.

The modules are respectable and most of the time common sense so getting them done should be an overall breeze. The final exam, however, mostly covers information from the textbook - not the modules.

Read and study. She really lets you know what to expect. Her class is well laid out, so I seldom consulted with her, but she is prompt, informative, and human. The Final is half your grade. The modules can be knocked out quickly, but you must pay proper attention to answering and studing your study guide. Do that and you will get an A+.

If you have the chance to take this online do it! It's not hard at all if you make a checklist for yourself. Exam is straight from the study guide so definitely use that. The exam is online proctored which is a bit weird but a seriously minor problem. Vail-Smith is easy to get in touch with and lays everything out simple for you!

She is AMAZING!!!!! Sexual health should be a requirement for students, it is so interesting and easy! You will have so much fun and the textbook is only 15$. The textbook is one that you'll be excited to read every week, it's so much fun.

If you can take this class online, do it! I literally finished the class in a week. The only problem is that the final exam has to be proctored.

I took Health 1000 online and absolutely loved the delivery of the content. Mrs. Vail-Smith allowed us to work at our own pace with one final due date for everything. The course was content heavy and very informative. Any issues I had, Mrs. Vail-Smith addressed quickly and professionally. I recommend this class to everyone!

Professor Vail-Smith is really the sweetest. She made the class so fun and interesting! The course consisted of 3 exams, and a research paper/PowerPoint presentation. She give you clues on whats exactly on the exam in the PowerPoint. She also offers extra credit opportunities. I really enjoyed her this semester, overall amazing professor!

Vail-Smith is really sweet and easy. All of the assignments are online and lectures are sometimes funny. Honestly, this class is easy over all but her study guides are word for word from the book. You don't need the book but it helps with the study guides for the tests. She's just really sweet overall and it's an easy class. TAKE HER.

Loved this class and both professors for it were extremely knowledgeable. Always provided clarification if needed and the textbook was lighthearted and fun to read! Definitely not the traditional type of class but it was the most fun I've had learning in college. Definitely would recommend the class to anyone.

I took it hybrid and class only met in person once per week. Attendance is mandatory otherwise you lose 10 points. Homework assignments are in a workbook, straightforward and graded for completion. She does powerpoints in class and tells you exactly what you need to know for the test. Tests are all multiple choice/true false, no written. Easy A.

Professor Smith is very funny and nice. She emphasizes what we need to know for the test specifically. She makes the class engaging as possible and also allows extra credit. This is a fairly easy class as long as you show up, take notes, participate, do the workbook assignments, and watch the videos and take the quizzes. Highly recommend taking.

I took the HLTH1000 course online and I highly recommend it. She allowed students to do the work at their own pace and all of the work was due at the end of the semester. She is very organized making the work quite easy if you keep up with the work and do discussion posts. Definitely recommend!!

LOVE THIS WOMAN!! Shes so relaxed and funny and makes learning fun and easy! the lectures are interesting and if you attend them you will pass with an A. The work book and textbook together are less than 20 dollars buying them which is so refreshing. I wish I could take this class over and over again. Its actually really interesting!

I took this class online I guess I needed it for an elective. The class is super easy you have to do 4 discussion boards 14 quizzes and one final exam. I would only take this class if you need it for nan elective or something because it's honestly very pointless and is more like a gym class.

I had Karen Vail-Smith for Health 1000. Easy course & material. Just follow the instructions and don't fall behind. Most everything was due the last week of classes. 15 modules - about 3 hours of work per module - watch the lecture & take notes, do the assignments, read the chapter & fill out the final exam study guide. I got an A.

LOVE!!!! I took this class hybrid and it was so easy. You do have to purchase a workbook that will be the basis of your assignments and notes, however, it's not expensive. She tells you what's on the exam and the tests are super easy. The lectures are never boring, and she tells funny stories. Would recommend!!!

This class was very easy as long as you fill out the work book. I just didn't like how she would randomly call and pick on people. She also made some off putting jokes, but there's worse things she could've done. If you want an easy A, take this class.
