If you want to improve your English, you should take her class. She gives a lot of homework but it is only for your benefit...you will learn a lot of vocabulary!! If you are lazy and do not want to study, dont take her class because you will not pass!!

she is the most efficient teacher I've ever seen. If you are in her class just to hang in there and pass easily, simply don't waste your time. Too much home work, assignment, etc. but works perfectly once you're done with the class. You'll see how different you feel in reading and comprehension!

I'm really sacred of her but I love her also. She has a power insight of her that force me to study. She grades not hard, just remember that do not go to the class late. Doing your homework and read all the directions carefully. So you'll be fine. "Trust me" that's the word she always say. I love her so so much.

She's a good teacher, helps students a lot. But in her class, we have to pay a lot attention and focus on reading textbooks. She checks attendance, so be careful! One more thing, her quizzes are EXTREMELY tricky.

her class really teach a lot of thing. but to pass, you have to attend class, turn in your assignment in time, prepare for quiz. and the homework is a lot. it's good class for those who really want to learn something.

This teacher will get you ready for the other college classes. You will learn more than with any other one. I just finish Eng 111 and had no difficulty, thanks to Ms Van Horn.The homework can just help you. After ESL you will have to be more responsible, and will have to catch up with others. GET HER. In ESL u pass or fail, don't worry about GPA.

she is strict and all homeworks should be done by the day. late homeworks are *may* be accepted. she is humorous, nice, good professor. I strongly recommend her class. you will learn a lot from her. she truly understands ESL students.

She is a very hard grader and very detailed BUT(pay attention to buts)-what she always says. She is a good person and you just need to work hard because it's hard to pass. I worked a lot and got B. It's hard if your lazy and its Ok if your a hard worker like some of my classmates lol. BUT I think she is okay :)

I took ESL classes with Ms. Karen, and she is the best teacher that I have ever had. I learned lots of things with her, and she helped me to improved my writing. She is the type of teacher for the students who wanna learn and gain knowledge, but if u r expecting an easy A this is not the class. Encourages one to participate in classroom discussions. Gives a lot of homework. If u listen to her attentively, do the home works regularly u will be in a position to write the exams and gain knowledge.

Good thing about this teacher is that you can actually learn something useful because she explains very well; bad things about her is that you are going to have tons of homework. If you are willing to work hard to pass, take it!

Karen knows every subject in the class like the back of her hand. She is willing to help every student. She is one of my favorite teachers. However, her teaching style is not for everyone. Her eagerness to make students understand sometimes makes the class a little bit tough. If you are looking for easy-graders, this isnt a class for you.

Many people told me that she's strict but not. Ms. Karen is such a sweet teacher. I would recommend her. She is very nice and helpful. Miss Karen Van Horn is one of the best teachers ever I took her twice in ESL 22, 52 and i knew a clasemate who took her class 3 times ESL 22,32,52 I heard many students complaining and winning about the homeworks because she will give you a lot of homeworks. Professor Karen Van Horn is one of the best ESL teachers Nova can offer you. You show up, follow her instructions carefully and do your work and get an "A." She is very knowledgeable, passionate, and caring. It felt a bit hard initially, but it was like every other class. She will prepare you for college in the best possible way.
