She's probably the best teacher I've ever had for any subject. For Spanish, especially, she's amazing. She's extremely helpful, extremely nice, and she loves the language. TAKE HER!
I took her for 2 semesters and got an A both. She is easy for spanish, especially if you have no experience. She'll help you anytime, and she grades on your ability and experience, not the whole class. She's seems to like girls a little more than guys.
I had Mrs. Z for Spanish I & Spanish II. She is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I would take her again any day.
She's really nice and helpful, but you have to pay attention in class!
I do not feel confident in her teaching for some reason.
She's nice, but a little too.. uptight. Very by-the-book. It's an easy A, but not exciting whatsoever. You learn the basics of the language, but nothing of the culture.
I took her because ratemyprofessors.com gave her a good review. However, she is probably the worst professor I've had at Santa Fe. She is completely unorganized. She consistently tests on material she has not discussed in class. I got a good grade, but it was no thanks to her. Good luck!
I took her for both Spanish 1&2. She is a great teacher. The person who rated her last said, "She consistently tests on material she has not discussed in class," which is completely untrue since she tests & teaches according to strict department standards! She's 1 of the best Santa Fe has to offer!
She is a good teacher I took her for Spanish 2 and did well in the class better than I did in Spanish 1 which is a much easier class. She will explain everything to you and help you as much as she can. Go to every class though and speak up and she'll like you. I would recommend her for Spanish!
very helpful, does anything to help students understand, go to class, do homework, will do well
I had her for spanish one and really enjoyed it. Someone mentioned in another rating that you don't learn any culture in her class- not her fault, there is little time and strict dep. guidelines.
This class is totaly bogus! The tests are riddled with trick questions and they test on exceptions mostly. A lot of the things they don't go over in class they still hold you accountable for. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE (with ANY teacher) UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO!!!!!
took her twice..lowest grade on a test was a B and still failed. I know a lot of spanish but i am forced to take sign lang. b/c i cant take her again. she has good intentions but the depart. final is TOOOOOO hard. they expect too much from SPN 1 students.
Worst instructor I have ever had. She brags about how hard she grades and the number of students she has failed. I didn’t take Spanish in high school, and she said that made it impossible to pass her class. She does test on thing she never taught, and I went to EVERY class. The Dept. thinks everyone is a Spanish major.
Wonderful teacher, I had her for Spanish 1 & 2. I had never taken it before and I got an A in both classed. Learning Spanish takes a lot of study hours and it's very important to attend class. Professor Zetrouer knows this and is very honest about her strickness. She is willing to help any student as long as they are willing to do the work.
I took Dra. Zetrouer for both of my Spanish classes. She is very nice and very clear and wants you to succeed. Her Spanish accent isn't that great and there are lots of words she doesn't know which makes me wonder how she got the job, but if you're not trying to major in Spanish, she's the best teacher to take. HW is not bad.
While I agree that this class is really, really hard she tells you that it is on the first day. That's why it's 5 credits people. I ended up with a B+ and worked for it. However, I liked her a lot, found her very helpful, and would take her for again for Spanish II.
ITS "peggy hill" she has the worst accent possible, likes to single out students, and to top it all off shes a former highschool teacher, which means role will be taken promptly at the beginning of class everyone participates whether they like it or not and if you frown you don't get a star for the day skip this one if you want to maintain your GPA
Professor Zetrouer is a great teacher. She explains everything to you and is very helpful if you dont understand something. She is clear at the beginning of the semester that she does not give extra credit, but if you study, you wont need it.
good professor! clear and kind. Fair.
she is such a ****. she gets her favorites and if she doesn't like you she'll let the whole class know. she has not problem embarassing you for not being good in the subject
horrible teacher i took this class to learn spanish she is not helpful at all. i went to her for help and after checking the book afterwards the help she gave me was wrong. if you want to hear her life story rather than learn the foriegn language.
This professor is very good. Very helpful, and understanding to non-school related situations. You will learn a lot from her if you just do the homework. Quizzes are easy, and she prepares you well for the exam. Only four tests!!!
She is very, very nice. She wants to see the students succeed, but she doesn't give handouts. It's easy to get an A if you go to class and participate. She makes class fun and is clear about everything-she will reteach something if you don't understand.Very, very fair in how she grades tests.I would definitely take her class again!
someone on here already stated that this teahcer was a former highschool teacher. that's pretty self explanatory if you want to know how she treats students. A group of us call her the "I don't know" teacher simply because when asked any question that requires thought on her part she responds "hmmm... I don't know" and then continues. :(horrible
Great teacher! She really tries to make sure everyone learns the material but you have to make an effort. You have to earn your A but it was fine if you participate, ask questions, and most of all study! Highly recommended for folks who have not had Spanish before.
I really loved profesora Zetrouer. She took a personal interest in how each of her students were doing, and was very helpful. She'll take the time to answer any question the class has, and is very understanding. It took me two times to get through spanish 1, but I liked her so much I took her both times.
Attendance is mandatory, but that goes the same for the entire Spanish dept; childish policy imo. She's a good prof who doesn't waste any time. Emphasizes class participation. I thought the tests were pretty damn hard, but Spanish isn't my forte either. I wouldn't mind taking her again for Spanish 2...that's if I pass this semester. =(
She is a really sweet lady. She seems like she genuinely wants to see all of her students pass. That being said she doesn't give any free grades, you get what you earn. She is a florida native and i feel that it is important for a professors primary language be the same as the language of the students.
She is really awesome! Spanish was not her first language so I think she has an advantage to being able to teach it and remember what it was like when she was learning...she is very nice but DO NOT skip. She really doesn't like it when you skip or leave early without an excuse.
She is the nicest teacher ever. She wants everyone to pass and is genuinely interested in the subject. She's cute and quirky and makes each class enjoyable. I'd take her again definitely.
She is the nicest, most caring teacher i have ever met!! She geniunly cares about her students and their success! she will do anything to help you pass her class. With that said, its not the easiest class to take. I dont recommend her Hybrid class, it is hard enough learning a foreign language, let alone it only be 2 days a week, 50min a class.
Prof. Zetrouher is an awesome professor. I'm not doing so hot in the class, but it's because I simply don't understand the material. She's done ALL that she could, and has even done more than she had to to help me up my grades. Tests are hard, but it's spanish. Here's to hoping I get a C!
Profesora Zetrouer is a great teacher and she loves her job because of her students. Very dedicated and fun to have class with.
i could never fall asleep in this class!! she keeps everyone active and listening, which is not like me. and i never feel embarrassed if i don't know the answer. she is very nice and understanding. easy to contact and very flexible. quizzes are not that hard either, very straight forward. 2 thumbs up!!
Great teacher! I'm taking Span I with her right now and am actually enjoying it. She is helpful, kind and good at explaining things. She gives practice worksheets on Angel for extra study help. Redo your HW, use supersite flashcards, and utilize her online practice worksheets. You will be set! I've already signed up for her Span II class. :)
Not a helpful teacher. She has not made spanish easy not that it is. Has a fake niceness. You have no idea what your grade is through out the class. Does not explain things well. Has a werid way of teaching things. If you don't have to take this teacher don't.
Great lady!! She really wants you to succeed. 3 in-class tests and 2 online tests. Lots of online homework (being a hybrid class). Good for students tying to fulfill language requirment.
easier than the other teachers. shes english so you can actually understand what she is talking about. She is also very nice and will help you with whatever you need.
i loved her class. she answers your questions and if you study and stay focused you will do great. spanish is not hard is you study and practice. i loved the supersite online section with the virtual flashcards! love it
Horrible teacher, and does not explain things, nor like to answer questions. COMPLETELY useless to even have in the room.
Not helpful at all! She just hands you your quizzes and tests. She assigns a lot of homework, but expects you to learn on your own, which is not helpful with foreign languages.
Wonderful teacher! The class is challenging, and since it is a hybrid class, you must put in a lot of effort. She is very nice and helpful. I highly recomend this professor.
Not sure I would recommend this teacher, unless you already have a Spanish background. By the 3rd week of class she expects students to be able to speak and write full sentences. If anything describes this teacher it was said by a student on the first day. "I think I am in the wrong class this must be Spanish 2 not Spanish 1"
She was very nice and very helpful. She was also an extremely fair grader!
It's not easy to learn a second language, but Mrs. Zetrouer teaches it as just that, a second language. She has high expectations, but with a little effort, you can keep up. Do the online quizzes before coming to class, so you know what everyone's talking about!
My second class with Mrs. Zetrouer... Again, it may not be easy to learn a second language, but she makes it fun. She does move quickly through the course, so you need to do the online quizzes before class in order to keep up. If you are motivated to learn, I highly recommend this teacher! I wish she taught Spanish 3!
I had her for Spanish2 this past fall 2011. I was lazy in the beginning of the semester but caught up. Spanish 2 exams had a listening portion when you answered questions based off of what you hear, i struggled with that. we also had an online component, culture project (easy A), and some random quizzes. I got a B in the class but she was great.
Excellent teaching strategies for someone who has little background in spanish or high school graduate. Be ready for quizzes if the class is not progressing as needed. But, the quizzes are very helpful. the book and online information are there for using; use them all!!
She is an awesome Spanish professor. It is a 4 credit hour class so you do have some HW and studying to do outside of class. She can only do so much to help you learn, you have to take some initiate yourself. But she is a very sweet lady, wish I could take her for Spanish 2
Took her for non spanish speakers 1. Very nice class to take, but you do need to study what she gives you if you're completely lost with the language. Very helpful if you ask. Quick and painless class, very nice woman, fair grader. Makes sure she grades according to what she has taught the class at that point. Very fair.
You will learn but she is very rude at times and exhibits treatment towards students that is comparable to what high schoolers receive. Wouldn't recommend.
She's very well-organized, keeps your grades up to date, and gives you quick feedback on any questions. Grades fairly, is helpful, and expects you to do the work and be in class. If you're not going to put any real effort into learning the material she won't just let you slide by. Overall a good professor.
I took her for Spanish 1 and liked her so much I scheduled my next semester around her Spanish 2 class. She is approachable and she engages her students in the classroom. Yes, there is a lot of homework, but that is how you practice. If you need help, she is always willing to take the time to help you.
My favorite teacher at Santa Fe. She recognizes hard work and appreciates you if you show it. I scheduled my spanish 2 class with her because she's such a good teacher. I would take her if I was you
My 2nd favorite professor at SFC. Teaches lots of memorization tricks, and she is very clear. There is a lot of online homework, but it was do-able. Tests were mostly multiple choice, with sentences on the back. Very helpful in office hours, and really wants students to succeed. Memorize the vocab and learn the grammar. You won't regret taking her!
She's fairly helpful & definitely wants you to succeed, but she is also very strict. Attendance & participation in class is required, and you have to keep up with the online homework or you will fail. Tests were usually 23 multiple-choice & 13 written - they were very easy.
Great teacher. Important to not fall behind with the work.
Mrs. Zetrouer is a pretty good teacher. Explains things well and will help if you need it. There is a lot of homework but it's easy to deal with. There are extra credit opportunities but there are a few exams. 4 unit exams; oral exam; culture exam; and final. Really need the book to pass and you need to study. Fair grader
Started account at 5AM just for this!!! Sweet lady, probably one of the best at teaching Spanish @ SF. She speaks CLEAR English which makes it easy to understand whats being taught. However, super picky on grammar compared to some other professors. Don't miss 1 accent mark or you lose points. I also took hybrid, online work load is ANNOYING!
She was not very clear, I learned more from tutor and online homework than from her. She dropped some second exams into the river and took two weeks before we got grades back for it. She can be pretty busy and scattered brained. she is a fair grader on exams will only take off partial credit for mistakes instead of making it full wrong.
I took Zetrouer for Spanish 1 & 2. Honestly, I'm a terrible student. Didn't keep up with homework, and the closest that I got to studying was using Duolingo on my breaks at work. I passed both classes with an A. It's not that the class is a guaranteed A, but she tries to make it as easy as possible. Gives good feedback and extra credit for ESL lab
La profe is amazing. I took her for Spanish 1 in six weeks and it was hard, but I learned a lot. She does not make it easy for you to pass, because she wants you to learn the material. There is a lot of homework but it's college, expect it. She's American also, so no accent, which made it easier. I recommend her definitely.
Great Spanish teacher. I'm taking her for SPN1121. She knows her stuff. You have to come to class and she will call on you so don't be shy and do study!! I had her as a hybrid and this is the easiest class ever.
Much Respect For Professor Zetrouer!! Show up for class, study, do your homework. If you're struggling ask her for guidance, she wants you to succeed!!!
She has her moments of where she is funny. She tries to call on everyone in the classroom at least once each class. She tries to be super helpful and isn't a harsh grader on the writing portion. With that being said... She is slow with grading exams.
She is an awesome person, but unless you are dieing to learn Spanish don't take her! I want to know Spanish fluently and she is great for that. The only work is very tough but the in class stuff is so easy. Tests will be tough if u don't use flash cards. There are 2 oral exams too. I could have easily gotten an A if i didnt have so many classes!
Professora is a good teacher at spainsh 1 and 2. She is very helpful and dedicates lots of time to help students pass the class. The class is not easy you have 4-5 hours of homework weekly and work off 2 websites canvas and supersite. I took the 2 days a week for the whole semester and got a grade b+ but it took lots of effort. Overall, excellent
I took her over summer she is super nice lady. I'm pretty terrible at languages and english classes and still made a B+ in the class. I could have studied more and probably made an A but I was lazy that semester. I would definitely recommend her.
OK, so the Spanish 2 that she taught was impossibly hard, but she did her best to make it doable, pushing back test dates and such. She was harder on native speakers, but you all are already too good at it, so i feel no sympathy towards natives.
Never will i every again do this to myself unrealistic amount of work spent the class time talking about her personal life and not teaching quiz then test then quiz then test then supersite homework then canvas quiz then more super site homework dont do it to yourself unless your good at teaching yourself spanish excuse my grammar.
This is not an easy A. Zetrouer is slightly eccentric, but totally worth the work. She's insightful and patient. First *ever* experience with a foreign language, worked my butt off, got an A for SPN1120 and 1121. Do your homework, do your online work, study for quizzes, and you WILL get an A. She definitely recognizes and respects student effort.
She's the worst teacher I've had ever! Cancels class all the time. Gives you last minute extra homework when she doesn't come to class. Expects you to do it right away, and she does't correct it as soon as she gets it. Don't take her!
Funny and happy. Gives lots of partial credit. Really tries to help you understand the material (even when she calls on you in class). Always a joy to be around
I had already taken Spanish in high school which did make this course seem easier, she does get very easily distracted and off topic in class so you do end up teaching yourself more than anything.
Professor Zetrouer is really quirky and sweet. She tried her best to teach you things in the easiest way possible, and has dropped some quizzes. She sounds like the whitest person ever when she speaks spanish, but I think that actually helped a lot since it was easier to understand. There is A LOT of homework, but it really helps!
Mrs. Zetrouer is a very kind person and wants you to succeed. However, I honestly did not learn anything from her in the class. I basically taught myself all of the material through the online textbook and activities. If you come in with the mindset that you want an A, she will make sure you get it. You better be ready to put in the work yourself.
Just started taking her class. She is an American speaker, so some of the words are oddly pronounced. She teaches and reads straight from the book without every elaborating on the board. She expects us to memorize everything she is speaking. Very unhappy with this teacher, but I have to take her because its the only class that fits in my schedule.
She is fun and very nice. The course load is what you would expect from a foreign language class, a nice bit of homework each week (not long though). Exam study guides were given and very helpful. We had a group project, but it is easy as long as you pick a decent group, members are graded separately. She is a great professor. I took her for 1 & 2.
Do not take her she has very hard test i had to study for multiple hours and got C's study guides aren't helpful gives study guides but half the stuff on the study guide isn't even on the test
Absolutely awful. I have never had a worse professor. Dont be mistaken by her rating. Whatever you do, dont take her. Her lectures are pointless because she doesnt elaborate on the board and just wants you to memorize what she says. 5 minutes late more than once she counts as an absence. Never had anything lower than an A until I took her class.
the class was extremely hard and it seemed like she didn't really want to help sometimes. Rushed homework onto students like we don't have jobs, and or other classes.
I took her hybrid class my first semester and it was sooo difficult. Her lectures never seemed to match up with where we were meant to be online and they were always on weirdly specific things. Definitely not meant to teach partially online, too old fashioned. She was really nice though, knew students more personally and was very accommodating.
Took her hybrid class for Spring 2019 which has 2 days in the classroom and one day online learning. Constantly talked about her personal life and how she couldnt wait to retire rather than teaching any spanish at all and then would rush quizzes, homework, and exams on students. Learned more in a 2 minute video than I did all semester in her class
