very easy teacher. she gives reading quizes for each chapter so do the reading. they are not hard and neither are her exams (which are not cumulative). although she makes it seem like the class will be hard on the first day don't be fooled. the class is fun and interesting and a good way to boost your GPA. she also gives random extra credit
Go to class for random reading quizzes and in-class assignments. Listen to her directions for out of class assignments cuz shes quirky and will F your day up if you do it wrong...
extremely easy class as long as you read, go to class, and take notes youll def get an b or a
This class is really interesting and easy to do well in. She gives random quizzes and assignments that you have to do but they're easy and as long as you're there you should do well. I really recommend this class.
Kari is a great teacher. She speaks up and speaks fluent english! The class is fairly easy. The exams are mostly t/f, m/c, and some short answers. She gives review prior to exams. Random quizzes and in class assignments are given. READ!
Uses pp for her lectures, class is interesting and entertaining, she is very nice and always willing to help
Easy A.
Kari was really easy to understand and made it easy for her students to do well. As long as you go to class and go over the powerpoints and notes once or twice before the exams, you'll get at least a B+.
Easiest class, ever. Very interesting too. Extra credit for just going to class. A lot of in-class assignments and quizzes so it's necessary to go and at least skim chapters but she makes class fun to go to anyway. Glad I took this class and would recommend it to anyone who wants to take a fun class and boost their GPA.
Awesome teacher! She's very nice and makes the class interesting. Adds humor to the lecture and really knows what she's talking about. I would DEFINITELY recommend this class!
Professor Adamsons is a great teacher. She always gives a big interview project but don't be scared off by it, they aren't hard to do and you are given the whole semester. She gives in class reading assignments so doing the reading and going to class is a must! She's really nice and knows her stuff. One of my favorite professors.
Real easy A. She's funny and easy to understand. She makes the material very interesting and fun. One of the best profs I've had so far.
Great professor. She truly knows what she's talking about and makes the lectures very interesting and understandable. Fairly easy class as long as you attend the lectures. Don't buy the textbook because her lectures go far beyond it and I didn't open the book once throughout the semester. I definitely recommend taking this class!
in class assignments mean you have to go to class. exams are verbatim off study guides. pretty easy if you go to class
She is an amazing teacher and is very clear about what she is going to test you on. She is also funny and incorporates her humor into the lectures. You don't really need the book, just for the graded paper in which you choose one chapter to write about.
Very nice woman. The class is very interesting. There are a few in class assignments, so you should attend most classes. Very easy grader on papers/in class assignments. All exam info comes from slides that she posts online. Would definitely recommend this class.
easy pretty easy class if you go to class
Really funny professor. Lectures are engaging. You have to go to all the lectures though because of in class assignments. Other than that, amazing.
This class is super easy as long as you always go to class, but the lectures are really funny and engaging so it's worth it. Definitely my favorite class this semester. I never used the textbook and got an A so don't worry about that.
Prof. Adamsons is a great professor. If you go to class relatively frequently, read the books before the online quizzes and take the online quizzes, there is no reason that you should not get an A. It was an interesting class that was easy for those who actually showed up for class or remotely cared about their grade. I'd highly recommend it.
The most interesting, easy, and fun class I have ever taken at UCONN. You have to go to class for assignments but it is very interesting and she is funny. I highly recommended it to anyone looking for an easy A.
Loved the class! Interesting material and she taught it in a very engaging and interesting manner. Best class I've taken so far in college. Highly recommended.
just going to say the fact the gives us quizzes all the time is a little ridiculous. tons of reading and she gives way too many of these quizzes. we just had an exam and here is another one! oh! and the exam was the day after the superbowl. it was easy but still she needs to realize that this is too much. i canlearn the material without weekly quiz
Highly recommend this class but you have to go to class. She's a great speaker, nice, interesting and funny. She doesn't say this but her ppt notes are incomplete and its your job to realize this and fill in the blanks. Just take decent notes and memorize everything. My class didnt have a paper or quizzes so I can't comment on that.
really good teacher; only negative side is that there's an online reading quiz for every chapter you must complete before she starts lecturing about it..since there's 14 it can really affect your grade
Overall great class, you learn a lot and it's not hard to understand it. Online quizzes almost every week based on readings, only 5 questions each. I would recommend.
Kari was wonderful. She has a great system so that by the time the test comes along studying is a breeze because you've received the information numerous times by then. First, you read the chapter. you then take an assigned online quiz. Then she'll actually teach the lesson in class. It's been reinforced multiple times, making the test easy.
This is by far one of my favorite classes at UCONN. The material is very interesting, and the way Kari presents the material makes lectures worth going to. There is a 5 question quiz every week. You have to read the chapters- but hey, that's college! I highly recommend taking this class!
She is a very nice woman and her lectures are genuinely interesting. There are quite a few quizzes (one at the start of each new chapter, so about once a week), so you have to at least skim the chapters. But each quiz is online and only 5 questions. Regular lecture attendance (and taking notes) helps *tremendously* with doing well on exams.
BEST teacher ever! Very organized and clear. Very smart and relates all lessons to us. It is a lot of notes but they are simple. You just have to go to class to get them all. Very clear study guides. The reading is a bit dry at times but she makes it interesting and easy to understand. Great class! Great teacher!
AWESOME! She is very easy, but you do have to do the reading and she makes class interesting. Definitely take this class.
She is a very easy teacher, but class is still very interesting. She is also really helpful if you're struggling. I would definitely recommend taking her as a professor if you have the chance.
Very interesting class, and it's really easy if you try at all. There are weekly online quizzes on the textbook, so you'll need to skim it, but the questions are very basic. Kari is very organized and really helpful - overall an amazing class that I would highly recommend!
Great Prof, she is very funny and manages to include a lot of discussion in a big lecture hall. Very clear about her course objectives & whats going to be on the exams, no surprises there.
Awesome class! She grades pretty easy, just wants you to do the work. Bi-weekly journals on the readings. Not too bad. No exams but there is a research paper. Really interesting class. Largely discussion based; all we did was talk in class. Really cool class though. I learned so much! Take this class with her!
You need to read the textbook cover to cover, but it's interesting and she explains stuff in class. Fun professor and she gives a quiz on every chapter so there are plenty of chances to do well.
Dr. Adamsons is amazing! She is so nice and funny and really understands her audience. Class is interesting. Textbook is a must, and you have to read to pass the weekly quizzes. If not into reading whole chapters, there is a conclusion in the back of every chapter that's helpful. Exams are very easy. Post lecture slides online but not the info
She is one of the best professors that I have had at UConn. She is a very engaging lecturer and her exams are pretty easy if you just read the book, go to lecture, and fill out the study guide. Just be a good student and you'll be fine.
I loved reading the textbook. This course is all about relationships so the class itself is really interesting and I learned a lot. She is a great professor and is super cool!
Kari is just awesome. She likes to start class off with a funny meme or interesting song lyrics, and is really able to connect with students. This class is incredibly interesting and applicable to life; I honestly think it should be a required gen ed. Kari deserves all the praise she gets, one of my favorite professors!
Dr. Adamsons is amazing. Yes, you need to read the book to pass the weekly quizzes; however the book is directly connected with lecture content, which enhanced my comprehension of the material. The material is interesting and Dr. Adamsons presents it in a fun way.
I went to every lecture, and read all of the chapters for the online homework assignments. I didn't study tediously for exams but I did pass with flying colors.
Dr. Adamsons is an amazing professor. As long as you pay attention and take notes (on definitions) in lecture, this class is an easy A. She's very enticing and keeps you interested in the topics you are studying. As long as you read the chapters chapter quizzes are a breeze
Can she teach all my classes please!!!???!! Honestly one of the best teachers and most awesome people I have ever met in my life. The stuff she teaches is so relevant to life. I genuinely looked forward to going to lecture and reading the textbook (and I have never looked forward to homework in my life).
She is an amazing professor. I look forward every week to taking her class and listening at what she has to say. Everything she talks about in lecture can be applied to every day life. Lectures are definitely insightful. She is always open to meeting outside of class if you need to talk to her or to discuss grading.
Dr. Adamsons' lectures are funny and keep you interested. There is a reading quiz for every chapter so you have to do the reading, but the material isn't too bad and it helps on the exams. Some exam questions are based on videos watched in class so make sure you go. Overall great class, great professor, I would love to have her again.
Professor Adamsons gives powerful lectures that keeps you interested. She's sarcastic, hilarious, funny, serious when need be, and an overall amazing lecturer. The grade is based on the number of points you earn, so you know how many you need to get the grade you want, and exams are based heavily on examples and an understanding of the material.
Dr. Adamsons is a great professor. She knows what she is talking about and keeps the class entertained. Her lectures can be applied to your daily life and it's very interesting. She offers a lot of extra credits so go to class, especially the last class. It was an easy A. Just do the reading and take notes.
Best class I've ever taken in my life! Sounds exaggerated but I've learned things in this class that have demystified the myths I believed growing up about gender, relationships and humans in general. Pay attention in class (which is not hard at all) because you get the information this way. The book is not needed. Don't miss homework and study!
The class is pretty simple. One reflection paper that is so easy as long as you follow directions. The homework is super simple and online. The only tricky part are the three exams because they really test your knowledge. It is necessary to go to lecture so you have the notes as a study tool for the exam. They are basically all note-taking lectures
Definitely one of the best classes I have taken thus far at UConn. Great teacher, super friendly and approachable. Class is really easy, I got a 100 on the midterm. The book is pretty important, and class is important, but not entirely necessary. Got an A in the class easily.
great class, she makes it fun and interesting, exams are easy if you study, would definitely take this class again
the person below me is being a sore loser. he didn't do any of his connect assignments. Personally i think she is a wonderful professor. Easy assignments and fun lectures. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
This was a super easy gen-ed. You don't need to go to lecture to do well in class, but a lot of times she will show videos that will end up being questions on the exam. Also, be sure to go to lecture if you want extra credit opportunities! Online homework is 30% of your grade but it's super easy and not time consuming at all.
Really easy yet interesting class for anyone looking for that quick Gen Ed fufillment
Do not forget to complete the online homework! the points add up in the end. Other than that it's an easy A . The tests are all multiple choice and if you go to lecture you don't have to study alot at all
Shes coo
Really cool professor. If you go to class and listen to what she says, you don't need to study that much. Definitely do the online homework because it's an easy 30% of your grade. The paper is also an easy 10%. Exams aren't bad at all. This course was very useful in everyday life and I recommend it to anyone at UConn.
Great professor, makes class interesting and most assignments are very easy. Gives 3 exams (mini 25 question, midterm of 50 questions and 80 question final), I never studied and got B's on all of them. Homework is very easy, finish it in first 2 weeks during trial so you don't have to pay for the book (it is never used). Lots of extra credit.
Professor Adamsons was one of my best HDFS professors I have had. I wish she taught more classes. Her powerpoints are clear and if you ever have any questions don't hesitate to ask. This class will probably be a huge lecture, but Professor Adamsons makes it feel smaller. If you have any questions you can ask her in class or after, she 's great!
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING! Honestly one of the best teachers here at UConn. I recommend the class HDFS 1060 to everyone even if you are not an HDFS or psych major.
This was a very easy online class. I took it over the Winter and basically just had to just had to do a discussion post and online homework (you will get a 100% on the homework as long as you do them). There was one very short paper and two pretty easy exams.
Strict professor. Grades tough. Doesn't care if you actually know the material or not, and shows no sympathy for those who have difficulties.
Good teacher, good lectures, absolutely terrible with students. Very strict with making up assignments, ONLY allows school-sponsored events as excuses. Incredibly sick for a week and had surgery--I was NOT allowed to make up any in-lecture assignments. Do not take her classes if you will be missing any work.
Professor Adamsons is a great lecturer and has awesome power points, BUT not all the information is on the slides. She expects you to listen and write down everything she says in order to succeed in the class. It is not an easy A; I missed two lectures and did very poorly on the midterm. Interesting course nonetheless!
Show up to class, there are surprise in-class assignments. There are plenty of review sets on quizlet. Slides are on HuskyCT. Do the book hw in the first week so you don't have to buy the book, you'll never use it. There is one 2-3 page assignment. You have to try hard to fail this class. See your TA to review your previous exams before the final.
This class you HAVE TO GO TO... the surprise assignments are pretty much what make or break your grade for this class. I felt like a lot of the class was common sense but if you don't pay attention you won't do well. Tests were hard but manageable.... but GO TO CLASS
The best professor I've ever had ever!! HDFS 1070 was my favorite class of the semester, and she's so easy to talk to one-on-one. There are surprise in-class assignments, but as long as you pay attention and do the work, this is the easiest A ever. Writing notes ahead of time and doing connect assignments weeks in advance is highly recommended!!
This class was very interesting! Almost all the homework was questions from the digital textbook but tests come from her presentations. Not everything on the tests was on the slides so going to lecture is a must! Study for the exam by memorizing anything that seems to be list-like. Her favorite free-response format is "list and define" questions.
I LOVE LOVE Dr. Adamsons. She's very easy to talk to and very understanding. This class can really help you if you take it seriously. Easy A and fun to learn 10/10 recommend the class and Dr. Adamsons.
You gotta show up to this class. She has an in-Class assignment roughly every week at a random day so don't miss too many of those. Also a weekly homework but it's really easy. Also though she's really fun and caring and the material has direct application to real life. She's a really great professor would recommend.
She's a great professor with interesting lectures. She is very funny, and the exams aren't super hard. A decent bit of extra credit is available.
TAKE THIS CLASS WITH DR. ADAMSONS, if you're thinking about it, just do it. It will change your life. She's caring, relatable, funny, interesting, and manages to make a huge lecture feel small. She incorporates fabulous stories into each lecture so material is easy to learn and remember. Easy A by studying pre-made quizlets before exams. Don't skip
Wonderful professor. Interesting lectures and material. Have to get an access code to do weekly online homework. Besides that, you are really only graded on the exams and a few papers. Will sometimes do little extra credit opportunities in class.
Professor Adamsons was great. The class is very simple, but that's kind of in the nature of the material. The new stuff you learn sticks in your head easily because it's common sense. Very funny, approachable, and easy assignments!
I really loved Professor Adamsons. She is an excellent professor who teaches the material really clearly and makes class interesting. The exams were really easy and the papers made you learn more about what relationships are like. Her office hours are amazing and you could ask any questions you have about class. She gives out extra credit sometimes
i like her but the TAs grade so harsh because of her grading scale, its all or nothing pass fail so say theres 5 questions and u dont answer one all the way youll get a 0 on the whole assignment and need to redeem a reward token. the content is so easy and i havent had issues, if u do the work right itll be an easy A
DOES NOT GRADE USING POINT SYSTEM. Do not take this class unless you're interested in literal pass / fail grading. You can literally pass all exams and if you fail one, you fail the whole class, unless you redeem a reward token to make it up (if you have any left). No compassion for those with difficulties, including tech issues or family deaths.
Dr. Adamsons is a great professor! This class is easy and interesting as well. There are a few assignment per week but they're not hard at all. Besides the midterm and final there is one other "mini exam". Her exams are extremely easy & questions come right from lecture. She uses a different grading system but it is very doable to still get an A.
I took HDFS 1060 over the summer with Dr. Adamsons and she was AMAZING. I found her lectures engaging and didn't find the material difficult. The online textbook homework was a little time consuming but very easy. The info on the midterm and final were straight from her lecture slides so they were very easy to get As on.
Dr. Adamsons is so caring and passionate about what she teaches. This class was so interesting and insightful. You do have to go to class because she gives in-class assignments without announcing them. As long as you do the work, you'll definitely get an A in this course and it's really interesting content! Awesome course!
Weekly quizzes with a few dropped, 2 exams (both open note), some weekly in class assignments. The class itself was very interesting and Dr. Adamsons was a great professor to have. Go to class for the unannounced in-class assignments. I'm not an HDFS major but I genuinely enjoyed coming to class.
Attendance isn't mandatory and she does post lectures a day after, but sometimes there are inclass assignments that you could miss if you don't attend. I didn't need to attend lecture but I did because Kari is a WONDERFUL teacher. I enjoy her teaching style a lot. There wasn't much homework just a smartbook quiz every week and journal assignments.
She has been an amazing instructer! Lectures are amazing and not a lot of work totally would take again and recommend
Professor Adamson is one of the best professors I've had thus far. Lectures are interesting, and she makes them easy to understand. As long as you do the weekly quizzes, which are based on the textbook, and pay attention and take notes during lecture, this class should be an easy A. Midterm and final are online and are based mostly on lectures.
Honestly one of the best teachers I've had. She's super sweet and all of the homework/tests come right out of the books and lecture slides so if you go to class (which I recommend because there are random assignments she assigns in class that make up a good percentage of your final grade) you're guaranteed to understand everything and do well.
Shes very realistic and clear when shes lecturing, slides are posted in HuskyCT to follow along even if she moves to another and shes available after class.
Kari is so real and SUCH an interesting lecturer. She makes the course super relatable to real life, I would recommend anyone take this class, it teaches you how to be a better person. Class is super easy - online quizzes graded for completion, all exams online and open-note. There are some in-class assignments, so attend lecture, but Kari is GREAT
Professor Adamsons is an amazing professor; her lectures are very informative and well-taught. She is also very sweet and funny. I would strongly recommend this course to anyone. The smart-book quizzes are based on completion and have a simple grade. Going to the lectures or watching them online will help you with your exams.
Literally this was my favorite class my freshman year. Some advice however, she says that it is okay to skip class but I recommend going not only because you retain information better but because there are in class assignments that have to be completed by like the end of class. But yeah I seriously recommend!
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was able to get over a 100% in this class with minimal effort. Kari is extremely generous with extra credit and the assignments are basically participation based. The exams are also all multiple choice and common sense for the most part. Going to lecture is a must since that's where most of the content is and where in class assignments are given.
I LOVE Professor Adamsons. She's so friendly and presents the material in such an easygoing way. Attendance was not required but many people showed up anyway. The class itself is super easy; one quick assignment per week and open note exams. Highly recommend if you need a gen-ed!
Dr. Adamsons is great. The lectures are interesting and keep you engaged. Attendance isn't mandatory and she posts all of the slides and lecture recordings, but there are a few in class assignments. The exams are open note and straight forward and she offers a lot of extra credit. I definitely recommend this as an easy gen ed.
Kari was absolutely amazing. Her lectures are easy to follow, full of jokes, and contain lots of practical advice. Grades were made up of SmartBook Quizzes (easy, but remember there's a deadline), two exams (also easy), and in class assignments, quick and easy bits of writing that demonstrate you were there and understand what's going on.
She was fair in adjusting the course, but I didn't think she made the material that interesting. I also didn't like the surprise assignments for only the people that went to class. Don't skip or else you'll see a 0% in huskyct later and be very confused as to where the assignment even went
I LOVE Professor Adamsons. She made lecture very interesting and allowed room for participation although not mandatory. Class isn't technically mandatory BUT I highly recommend going to lectures or watching the recordings because it provides necessary information that may be useful during exams. All exams are open note so take really good ones!
Dr. Adamsons is amazing. Super easy class, just go to lecture and do the homework and you'll be fine. She made the class engaging and relatable with funny anecdotes and stories.
This was definitely my favorite class the entire year. The content is super interesting and it's pretty easy material to understand so it's not stressful at all. Dr. Adamsons is such a good professor, and makes the lectures enjoyable. There's one assignment per week however you're guaranteed to get a 100% on them, and the exams are not bad at all.
she is a very nice person and would help you any time. her class is easier and the class is useful. she have in class assignment randomly in the class and quiz for every week. 3 exam for the class. only things need to do is attendence the class. Love it
Kari is a great professor. Interesting course overall. Pretty easy. One thing that I did not like was in the in class assignments because if you were out sick or had a family situation for a couple of days, some you cannot make up which was annoying because you can only make up 2 in one semester.
Straight forward, well organized, Professor would read off slides then expand on the topics which allowed you to take notes. Very carrying and laid-back class. Take this class for an easy A (weekly hw and a few in class assignments) fair grading.
i like her class is funning and interesting. also you can learn a lot from this class. All the quiz and exam can be taking in husky ct.
This class is very easy and simple to follow. All assignments are through the online workbook or in-class assignment journal entries. Prof. Adamsons is very communicative and works with you if you reach out to her and offers some makeups for assignments missed.
Super engaging lectures, very kind! Plenty of extra credit opportunities so if you miss one thing it's not the end of the world. Just stay on top of deadlines and put them all into your calendar. If you take notes and listen in class (or watch lecture videos posted), exams are simple. Highly recommend everyone to take this class on relationships
Amazing class! The lectures were very interesting. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but she did random in-class assignments. There were weekly online quizzes. We had one mini-exam, a midterm, and a final. If you need an easy gen-ed to take, I definitely recommend this class. She also gave a good amount of extra credit assignments to help your grade.
I adore Dr. Adamsons. If I could take her classes all day, I would. Her lectures consist of slides, and explanations, but it's like she's talking to the class, not at the class. I switched my major to HDFS, and she has shown me that was the right choice. There are weekly reading quizzes, but if you understand the material, you'll be alright.
I loved Dr. Adamson's class this fall! There were around 200 students, but she kept the class engaging. Lectures are recorded and optional, but there are random assignments throughout the semester, so stay on top of the work. Dr. Adamson is passionate about her teaching and genuinely cares for her students. I highly recommend her class!!
Professor Adamsons makes this class super engaging. With weekly assignments, open-note exams, and helpful extra credit, it's an easy A. Unstuck ai and the textbook are great study aids.
If you're taking HDFS 1060 you're either interested in the topic or you needed an easy A (which it is). I suggest you go to the (non-mandatory) class because she does a really good job teaching about relationships. I personally think this class should be mandatory for all UConn students, specifically with Adamsons. Absolutely hats off to her!
Easiest class ever! The only thing is she gives surprise (easy) in class assignments, so you prob need to go to class to get credit.
One of the best professors I have ever had! Lectures are generally the same content as in the textbook. As long as you go to class and pay attention its pretty easy to get an A. Exams are multiple choice in-person, but not too difficult. In-class assignments with 2 make-ups, and chapter quizzes. She is understanding, personable, and grades quickly.
