Awsome teacher. Really cares about her subject and goes into detail and relates class discussion to contemporary issues.
Took her class back in Fall '96, still remember how effective she was: provided notes for students, explained every concept in class. I hardly relied on the book thanks to her explanations and coverage.
she was very funny and was able to keep attention well
If you don't take Battaglia, you are an absolute idiot. Battaglia is by far the greatest professor I have had in my ENTIRE life. You should all wade in her awesome power.
She is one of the only profs that I actually remember. I was shocked at how clear she made Economics for me.
She works straight from the book and study guide. She makes class interesting and the economics lab is very helpful if you have to cram a few days before the exams.
Very fun
She is the reason I became an econ major.
She is so cool and if you fail, you didn't try!!!

Very good teacher, highly recommended. I would take another class from her.
Great teacher would take another class. if you have to take econ take her.
Awesome teacher. She found a way to make eco interesting if thats possible. Show up and its an easy class.
tests are hard... her voice really gets on my nerves...
I really enjoyed this class - she never moves to fast with the notes and helps with the homework - easy class - great teacher!
She was really great. She was very clear and went at a perfect pace. If you do the homework and read through your notes, you'll do great.
really good teacher. the workbook makes the class pretty easy, but she does a good job of making a boring subject somewhat interesting. show up to class and it should be an easy A or B
Simply, the best. No guesing around on what to expect on tests. Completely upfornt with material, encourages discussion and is very helpful. However, she does not teach classes that require intermediate theory, so the material tends not to be as challenging.
i had her class two semesters ago. i had her for micro. her class was very interesting and she makes it funny. she explains everything real well
She wrote the workbook you'll use. She is awesome and could teach anyone economics. She gives tons of opportunities for points and explains everything. She also provides scantrons. She rocks... but you will have to study and stuff. I didn't at all but I still got a C.
if u r sitting on the back of the class and whisper to ur friend, she will know. once ur in class u CANT leave. she is however one of the best professor. easy test, gotta 97% or more on all 3 tests but did have to study. she counts 15/30 hws and 5/10 quizzes and they r EASY. compare to all the other note taking class u wont get that bored.
Great professor! The class was full of interesting and useful information. Not a ton of outside work, but there are several projects invovled. Overall it was a great class with a great professor.
Awesome Professor! You must come to class every day, and study your Notes to the "T". I got a C in her class but that was all my fault, I blew the 1st test. 3 Projects through out the semester but are life deserving. Great class, info will help you in the future.
Great Professor and class. The class is filled with great information you can use, not just theory. Overall it was an easy class with several projects. I got an A and did little outside work in this class. Study your notes and what she specifically tells you to and you will get an A as well. Highly recommended.
This professor was great, understood what she wanted from you on tests. Gave you take home quiz grades!! Keeps you awake in class, not to strict on food and phones
This class is not very useful. To the people posting below that useful for the real world and not just theory must have not known much before entering the class. She changes the tone of her voice a TON and it's extremely irritating. Drinks way too much caffeine before class and it shows during lecture. Knowledgeable but cocky avoid if possible
She is awesome!!! This was actually my first A @ UNT. U need to study before the test like all econ tests. But she cares about your grade. Super nice lady.
material in class is straight forward
TAKE THIS TEACHER! She does a great job of presenting the material in an interesting and understandable manner. She is very clear about what she expects and clearly defines what to study for tests. She really wants every student to do great and if you just put forth a little effort you have an A
This class is really nice for several reasons. 1. No book used, no book to buy. 2. It's pretty easy and if you go to class you'll have to problem making an A 3. It really does have tons of information you can use later in life. It's almost like a personal finance class instead of economics. I really enjoyed this class. She is great
Very clear, easy class but you have to attend every session because there is no textbook - all material comes from lecture and handouts. She has probably killed an entire rainforest with the sheer amount of paper she's used in handouts and she has nothing on Blackboard. Cheerful, interesting, relevant topic of consumer economics.
Definately attend, she goes over the notes and gives quizes. The take-home quizes are a sinch and if you stay up on the reading you'll be fine. She truly does care and if you utilize all the tools she gives you there's no reason you can't at LEAST pass.
I really loved this lady and I learned a lot in her 3 week session. She made four hour bearable for me and I hate sitting still. Fun, witty, and very knowledgeable of the material. She loves to teach and has a nice sense of humor. #winning
Need the book. NOTES. NOTES. NOTES. NOTES. That's all you do. Borrinnggg! They're not even online so you have to go to class and you have to hand write them. A lot of quizzes and homework grades. Gives out a test review.
I assumed we would be covering how people consume, patterns of consumption, ect. Instead we have learned about warranties, cost benefit analysis and days of time value of money. This is an upper level economics class and yet we are being "taught" commonsense subjects. Her self-importance makes the problem worse.
Easy class. Read all your notes and do the review you'll do awesome! :)
If you like economics because you enjoy watching Suzie Orman you will like this class. If not you'll probably think it's boring. It's more like a self help seminar about personal finances than an economics class. I was hoping for something more interesting. Too bad we don't have Austrian economics classes...it is pretty easy though.
Awesome professor. Class not mandatory but you should definitely go, makes everything easier.
She has an annoying voice. It doesn't drone, but it's annoying. Also she just lectures the textbook. Nearly word for word, but she lectures over the homework that you just turned in, so if you do the homework you already have read the book, and understand the concept without her lecture. Surprise quizzes (not hard) make sure that you come to class.
Tests are hard
One of the best teachers I have encountered in my schooling. Very clear, explains everything throughly, and has a nice sense of humor. By far my favorite professor I've ever had.
This class in incredibly easy and the prof is pretty helpful and clear. She tends to over-explain things but that's not exactly a bad thing in an upper-level econ course. It's not difficult and an easy A.
THIS IS THE BEST PROFESSOR AT UNT! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER TO DEATH!!!! TAKING HER AGAIN FOR MACRO, BE CAREFUL THOUGH. SHE'S VERY GOOD A PERSUADING YOU TO CHANGE YOUR MAJOR TO ECON! GREAT TEACHING STYLE. EASY TO RETAIN INFO AND HER HOMEWORK/QUIZ SYSTEM IN AMAZING! LOVE THIS LADY TO DEATH!!!!!!!
great professor, very helpful and clear. one of the best at UNT.
Easy class, should be renamed commonsense economics, it is the easiest class I have ever taken at UNT. Class attendance is not necessary, but she does go over bonus questions that are not in the slides. Great GPA booster, the hardest thing to do in this class is not fall asleep.
Really enjoyed this class with Professor Battaglia. I never thought about economics before this class. Her teaching style and ability to relate concepts made sense of crazy economic theories. She's a must...
Class attendance is optional, but notes are fill-in-the-blank, so you need to go. If you go to class and follow her directions on the assignments and for exam prep, should be an easy A. No textbook, which is a great money saver!
She's super clear and concise and has a great sense of humor that'll get you through the class. She grades moderately, not too strict, but she won't give you an easy A. You have to try. :) You use the book a lot so buy it. Take advantage of extra credit.
Great Professor! You need to be in class for notes, but if you take them, listen to her specific instructions (which are NOT hard and very applicable to the real world) then you will be successful! One of the best classes I've taken
Good teacher, class is not difficult if you go to class and pay attention.
I went to class the first day and switched professors immediately after. This professor has a bad attitude & a monotone voice. She is practically useless and if your not familiar with the subject you will be teaching yourself. Worst professor I've had even if only for an hour and a half. I'd rather an 8am good teacher than 2pm horrible teacher.
She is a very sweet lady, but she comes on way too strong. Her sense of humor is very blunt and it was hard to stay awake during lectures. She is a very good lecturer, but sometimes you just need a professor to be nicer, and more laid back. She is very intimidating. It's not her fault though, I'd still take her if you don't have a choice.
I am the worst at economics,no joke. She made the class so interesting and Ms Battaglia is very upbeat and sweet. As long as you attend every class because she gives out random quizzes from time to time.
Really interesting class, easy as long as you come to the lecture. No book, which is great. Not always the most exciting, but some of the information is just meant to help you in your personal life. Easy Econ Elective.
Great Teacher, always nice and her notes are well explained. Just GO TO CLASS.
Battaglia might be the best professor I've had at UNT. She teaches in a way where you can understand and relate. She teaches things that you will use for the rest of your life. She doesn't take attendance, but the notes are fill-in-the-blank so you need to show up. The test questions are straight from the notes. I highly reccommend this professor.
she is a nice teacher, but her lecture is kind of boring. you will be fine by taking notes. just read over your note before the test.
Kari is AMAZING! Her lectures are clear, informative, and quite often very inspirational. Economics can be boring at times, but Kari helps make it real and important. I highly recommend any class you can take with her.
You MUST show up to class to pass. The lectures are printed fill in the blanks papers. The tests come directly from the notes. As long as you read the notes you should be fine. Professor is great! She gives inspirational lectures and ties them to real life examples which make it easier to understand. She is clear on what you need to know for tests.
She is one of the best professors I have had in college. Her notes are fill in the blank that are pulled off of blackboard. You do have to show up to class in order to do well. Tests are not bad if you study. All-in-all she is a great professor, I highly recommend her.
She can sometimes be rude to you. She talks ALOT, no stop talking. You must go to class. She gives random bonus assignments. Material was fairly easy.
Super picky on homework, but other then that the class is pretty easy. You have to go to class for her notes though. If you're a finance major, the math and stuff is a breeze and a easy grade. If not, it's still not bad because she is slow and does a good job explaining it. Picky about cell phones.. Feels kinda like HS again. No book! Yahoo!
There is no textbook in this class and she provides all the notes on Blackboard but you HAVE to show up to class to fill in the notes. Attendance is not graded. She will not email any missed lectures to you. All the exams come straight from the lectures so there will be a lot of reading. She gives out very little extra credit and likes to talk a lo
I had Mrs. Battaglia for a 3 hour class on Tuesday nights which I dreaded initially. Yes, the class seemed very long but she made it as fun and interactive as humanly possible for a three hour economics class. She is very knowledgeable on the subject and was also very helpful. I would for sure take her again. ALL note based.
One of my two favorite profs I've ever had. Accessible, clear, just great. Highly recommend.
Awesome Professor
I was dreading this class as it was a 3 hour night class, but she made it bearable and let us out a little early normally. If you pay attention in class you will most likely get an A or if you don't pay attention but do the book work you will be hard pressed not to get an A. Yes you will have to do a little work to get an A but not that much.
She is a great professor. There is no textbook so she provides fill in the blank notes. As long as you come to class you can pass this easily. She gives bonus points in class and on exams. She knows what she is talking about so the subject was easy to understand. TAKE HER!!!!
I really enjoyed this class, so much so that I signed up for Professor Battaglia's ECON1110 class. She gives assignments and quizzes in class so it's important that you go. She also makes learning enjoyable. There were quite a few assignments but in my opinion that made it easier to get an A.
Amazing! Class lecture consists of fill in the blank notes so attendance is necessary. She will explain everything and will help you out if your confused. Provides extra practice problems for help too. Super sweet and really wants her students to succeed. 3 exams, no comprehensive final. Take home HW and in class assignments are easy.
Very clear grader, she tells you exactly how many points you need for a certain grade. You have to print out notes and fill in the blanks yourself. If she can't finish a section of notes, she takes it off the test. The content of her class was very relatable and useful. Sounds exactly like Melissa McCarthy if I closed my eyes.
Mrs. Battaglia is a great teacher. Attendance isn't mandatory but I really suggest going because there is in class work sometimes and you need the notes to do the homework. The tests are easy if you go to class, do your homework, and study the workbook and the practice tests in it.
She likes to talk and talking non stop all 3 hours class. This is very annoying. Super bureaucratic on the homework and exams. Will deduct points for any small mistake. She treats all students as a HS students. Do not posting grades to the blackboard. You have to calculate all your grades by yourself and get stressed about your current grade.
The course (Econ of Discrimination) was very interesting and relevant to real life. Battaglia gives good lectures (with printable outlines to fill in during class). She is strict, but kind. As long as you do what is expected (go to class, read articles, do HW), you should do very well in her class and enjoy it too.
Defiantly wont take this again she is petty and not cooperative. Worst decision to take her.
she wrote the $40-$80 book. Lectures are long but helpful if you dont like/arent good at economics. exams are 70% of grade. Course can be self-taught by reading book and working all the book problems, which is a lot less work than it sounds. Prof hypes up difficulty of course. Read, go to class, do homework at least a B on exams and overall.
All her tests are from the notes. If you show up for class and participate(attendance is not mandatory) and study a litte before the exam, you should pass with an A. She also gives out some extra credit and random in class assignments and all her hw is directly from the notes too. If you fail this class, its on you. Professor makes the class easy.
I did great on all homework and in class grades. Her exams are killers, do not take this course if you dont like test. 70% of grades are exams !
Professor Battaglia was a great professor. I have a feeling that the majority of her negative reviews are coming from people who didn't show up to class half of the time. I missed class once & managed to make an A on everything we did, which is super easy if you follow along during the lecture. She gives plenty of opportunities to pass the class.
Her lectures are mediocre, she is not particularly friendly but is not too mean either. you'll want to sleep in class, exams are on the difficult side and you'll have to study
The class is super interesting and straight forward. There's no textbook and the fill-in-the-blank style notes make it easy to know exactly what will be on the exam. She tells you what to study and what not to study. There are only 6 homeworks for the semester and the problems come straight from the notes. Never skip class.
This is an easy class. Study the write in stuff on your packets, the homework problems, and show up and you will pass. If you have taken finance this will be a breeze for you.
Easy class. Gives outlines for lectures so you know exactly what to write down. She also puts practice exams online which are quite similar to the tests. It's an easy B or A with minimal effort. I do wish she posted grades online though.
This is a very easy class to pass. There is a good balance between tests and homework, and neither are difficult. Lectures can be boring because you spend the entire period filling in the blanks in packets she provides since there is no textbook. If you go to class and study the notes (which are very clear and understandable), you will pass.
Basically the textbooks teach you everything, her lectures are just the textbook broken down. Be sure to show up to class, she gives in-class grades. She HATES it if you talk during lecture, and will stop teaching till people stop talking. Make sure you study hard, or you will not do well in the class. Pay attention and study to lecture notes 2pass
I love Dr. Battaglia. I would take her for all of the classes I can. She is informative and she gives you outlines for your notes so you don't have to worry about missing something, just fill in the blank. I heavily enjoy her class.
She is not respectful towards some students. But easy class just she is cocky.
Dr. Battaglia's class was the best class I've had all year at UNT. A book is required because that's where the (easy) homework comes from, as well as in-class assignments, but she makes it cheap ($45). Her lectures are easy to understand and she provides you with notes for class. She offers many helpful opportunities to study for tests.
Kari is a very knowledgeable professor and get her points across very well. You take notes with fill-in-the-blank printouts. This class will be very easy as long as you show up to class and fill in your printout. She has no homework but has random in-class assignments that will hurt your grade if you aren't there for them. Skipped twice, stillgotA.
Great class as a Maymester. 3 exams + 8 HW. Extra credit opportunities offered if you attend. She does not take attendance, but best to show up. Extensive notes. Material very easy to grasp -- even for someone who hasn't taken micro in several years. TA and prof are available after class for questions and hw help. Final exam not cumulative.
great teacher
Battaglia is one of the best professors I've had. This is my second class with her, she uses her own notes so there's no textbook for the class. It's important to come to class, as sometimes her tests go over specific things she said in lecture, or bonus point opportunities that help a lot in a low point class. Very straight forward exams as well!
She has her own printable notes, so there is no textbook. Homework is only 10% of grade, so you have to do well on exams. Exams cover the homework & what you fill in the blanks on your notes/what she tells you to highlight. Lots of bonus opportunities but only if you're in class.
I liked this class, it was a bit common sense. she can be a bit picky when it come to basically everything but it wasn't a big deal to me because she was very clear about her expectations. There is math involved future value of money. 3 exams and 6 hws. gives extra credit to ppl who show up to class randomly so dont miss her class. no textbook
Ok class, it was a bit common sense but there was a lot of reading. she can be a bit picky when it come to basically everything but it wasn't a big deal to me because she was very clear about her expectations. LOTS OF ARTICLES TO READ. 3 exams and 8 hws. gives extra credit to ppl who show up to class randomly so dont miss her class. no textbook.
A straightforward and knowledgeable professor, who doesn't throw curve balls on the exams. She generally tends to patronize her students and her "non-mandatory" attendance policy is a catch-22, since you'll need the notes (no book) from class to pass her exams and homework. Still, she seems to be one of the better ECON professors on the campus.
A straightforward and knowledgeable professor, but patronized quite a few students. The "non-mandatory" attendance policy is a catch-22, since you'll need the notes from class (no textbook) to pass her exams and homework. Still, she seems to be one of the better ECON professors on the campus. Study the notes and you'll make an A.
Battaglia is simply AMAZING, hands down. Her class is not just an academic class, but a life class that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Her explanations, reinforced by her handouts, make for powerful lectures that captivated me. As far as her tests, there are no surprises as long as you study the handouts! Take her! No regrets!
Mrs. Battaglia is an awesome professor to take. She is hilarious, her lectures are easy to follow, and really cares about economics. Her classes also do not require a textbook, so that's a plus too.
At heart, she is a nice person, and the class topic is interesting. But, 3150 AND 3050 are bogged down by the ridiculous grading rubric (90% of your grade is based on 3 hard exams ALONE) and her long, long lectures (did I mention they're long?). She is also very monotone, which does not help. Attendance is mandatory for in class work/lecture notes.
I took this professor because I heard she was a great lecturer & passionate in her teaching. While the latter is true, the former is not. She will use the full 60-90 minutes of class to talk, and there were many times I observed kids sleeping in class. This class was tough. Good luck with getting an A as 90% of your grade is based on testing..
I took this class online due to the pandemic. This class is EXTREMELY difficult online. There is no structure except for PowerPoints to read that are difficult to comprehend when trying to teach it to yourself. There are 3 exams worth 90% of your grade. Im sure shes a great teacher in person but would NOT recommend taking her class online.
She writes her own notes that you follow along with fill-in the blanks. Exams are heavily weighted! DO NOT fail her exams or it will be hard to recover. Exams are open notes (timed) but since she writes her own notes - You cant rely on any other sources. Can easily be studied the night before. Not the most approachable professor.
Im so disappointed.... I was so excited to take this professor after all the amazing reviews but I regret it. She is not approachable, she doesnt give any room for mess ups and the course is extremely test heavy. The exams were open note which was a positive. The notes are easy to read and helpful for the exams and quizzes. SPOT extra credit? No
This professor is caring. She's passionate about the content she teaches and it's apparent that she values her students. Although COVID put this class online, Professor Battaglia made her lecture notes/quizzes/exams easy to pass and understand. As long as you put in the effort, I promise you will be okay!!
She makes everything very clear and her tests are based on the notes, no surprises. Her econ of consumption class is great too. For an online class the math is clear and the lectures make sense.
This professor is amazing, I assure you won't regret taking this class. I recommend taking her ECON 3050 class because the lessons you learn their is more applicable to your real life situation. The subject matter is so interesting to learn and her tests couldn't be any easier.
Professor Battaglia does a lot of lectures, however, she tries to make things understandable and does some jokes in class. She tries to make sure there is at least one class before each exam so students can ask questions and review. Her exams are what count most towards the final grade, only 3/4 exams count towards your final grade.
She's so wonderful. No textbook, and no homework, as long as you go to class you'll be just fine. I learned so many real life skills from this class, I highly recommend her!
Never went to class, still got an A. Lectures with fill-in-the-blank notes which is boring but easy to follow. If you go to class you will do well. Everything is in the notes that she gives. Lots of bonus points for those who go to class as well. Super easy credit for econ majors as she covers a lot of introductory econ concepts.
I took this professor for some of my Economics Minor courses. She provides fill in the blank notes that she fills out with us during class. Attendance is NOT mandatory BUT IF YOU DON'T GO TO CLASS YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE THE NOTES. She does NOT post notes on canvas. The quizzes were very useful for exams and she provides bonus points on each exam :).
I LOVE this professor! she is so sweet. Her exams are t/f, mult. choice, and fill in the blank, with extra credit q's. I'm taking her again for another class, and I love her teaching style. If you don't go to class then you won't do well. her notes are the key to succeeding.
Honestly, the professor and the information you learn is great. You create your textbook through the fill-in-the-blank outlines she provides. You will need to be in class to pass the tests. She will make a statement that would make a good test question and you will only be able to have one page of notes and a calculator on the exam. If you take her
Class isn't too tough! Just pay attention and you'll do well.
The class was pretty straightforward. Take notes in class, do the homework that is on an online textbook, and take the test. Not a difficult class if you pay attention, and she teaches very well. The test review is almost exactly the same as the real test!!!
Professor Battaglia's class is a great mix of challenge and clarity. The fill-in-the-blank notes are a lifesaver, and unstuck AI was super helpful for exam prep. Attendance is a must, but the real-world skills make it worth it.
A very straightforward class and professor. Attendance isn't mandatory but definitely go to class because class notes aren't posted online. TAKE NOTES. the quizzes and exams are based exactly on the notes.
