She describes what needs to be done in detail and demonstrates so you can understand. She's also very passionate about art, which caused me to work harder.
The only test she gives is the final. She also assigns a field trip to the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and she gives out a final project. Other than that, there are quizzes weekly, but if you have been paying attention they are really easy. She laughs a lot, so if that annoys you, then take her anyway. She's an awesome professor.
Using PowerPoint to explain, the quizzes are not really hard if you pay attention to the class. She is really passionate about the art.i like the way she dresses. She is a great professor overall.
Took class during summer: Follow her posted outlines with the powerpoint lectures given and you'll do Great! Instead of tests there are weekly quizzes, 1 paper over art of your choice visited at the MFAH, 1 project, 1 final test, & a few in class activities throughout the semester. She is passionate about art and funny! TAKE HER for an EASY A or B!
Kari is one of the best professors I've ever taken. She truly cares about her job, and it shows. She's the best.
Kari is a kind, understanding person. She is also incredibly open-minded, which is such an important quality to have when working in the arts! Her class is organized and well-paced as well. Take her - you won't regret it!
Don't take her it is my first time making a review because she is so mean too much reading like about 5 hours for each quiz and the quiz is only 10 minutes 3 quizzes a week if you want to work hard and fail take her worse prof ever
I took her for painting and really loved it, she's the most relaxed teacher I've ever known. I sort of forgot that she was the teacher at times to be honest. We call her by her first name, and she converses so easily with us. She gives great feedback and loves to see our progress. She makes such a great atmosphere. I can't recommend her enough!
Took online for 6 week summer course. Lots of reading/watching videos/note taking needed to pass quizzes with 10 questions, 10 minute time limit. Extra credit for going to art museums. Project in the end where you have to actually draw/paint/etc a portrait in the style of another artist. It was hard for me as I'm artistically challenged
I would not recommend this teatcher to anyone and I definetly wouldn't take her class again. Some people may like her especially if they like to read all week long and have a passion for art. If the d2l website is down and you honestly can not turn in as assignment she will not care at all. Quizzes are everyweek and only 10 questions on quiz
quiz are extremely hard, even if you read all material, it's still very challenging to answer the questions. Crazy amount of reading every weeks, and 2-3 quiz. She's very tough grading your writing too. Never take her again.
I took Kari over the summer for art appreciation and found her class to be very easy as long as you pay attention and do your work. There were two quizzes a week but ONLY because it was a shortened semester, and they were very easy. She is very passionate about art, and I would recommend her to anybody that is, too.
One of the best art teachers I have ever had. I can not speak for the art appreciation classes since I have not taken that, but for physical art, and painting there is no one better.
I took Kari's Painting I class and loved it so much that I took it again for non-credit. It is a pretty laid-back class, and as long as you do your work, you will be fine. I had absolutely no experience in painting before taking this class, and Kari was very helpful in teaching me everything. I would take this class again if I could!
I took Kari for Art Appreciation, Drawing I, and Painting I. She is extremely open minded and is very passionate about what she teaches. She is very fair and will work around any circumstance you are going through if you communicate with her. Best professor I've ever had! Do your work, show up to class, and you will more than pass.
Show up on time, do your best, push yourself and you're good to go.
Kari was great. As long as you gave real effort she was willing to help you as much as needed. I didn't have much interest in painting before the class, but I'm excited to take the next one with her :)
terriblè
Serious drawing class. Homework every week.
This class was a lot harder than I anticipated. Tons of online reading followed by 10 question quizzes that do not adequately assess true understanding of the material. I don't have any actual complaint about the teacher herself, just the large amount of reading with quizzes that leave little room for error. If you take online, expect to read!!!!
There are two quizzes every Tuesday and Thursday that require you to read 7-12+ readings, videos, and artworks. You still might not pass because the questions are way too specific. If you DON'T FOLLOW her rubric, you will get a zero and it is non negotiable.
Excellent drawing professor. Taking Kari again for painting next semester.
Learned a lot more about drawing than I expected. She gives rubrics for assignments which are due every week. Mostly we just listen to music and draw.
I took her online class and it's a heavy workload. 2 quizzes each week along with discussions and one assignment. Her quizzes were tough. 10 questions under 12 minutes. She offers extra credit, retake only 1 quiz and drops the lowest quiz grade. Overall the class wasn't too bad. If you're looking for an easy A... then don't take this class
Fun and easy drawing class. Doesn't grade too hard. Uses rubrics.
I took her evening drawing class and its pretty chill. Grades you on drawing homework, one presentation, and art museum visit. Extra credit for visiting more museums
Quizzes are short and timed but you can take them two times. Lets you rewrite homework for a better grade. No big papers.
Kari is an amazing teacher! She is so inspiring and encouraging! I loved her painting 1 and 2 classes. I wish I didn't have to graduate so that I could take her painting classes again! Ms. B is very reasonable when it comes to supplies. She will work with you and find cheaper solutions if you cannot afford certain things. TAKE HER CLASS!!!
One of my favorite professors. Very fair in grading, but expects students to put a lot of work into their projects. Gives interesting insight into her own endeavors in the art world
I love all the classes I've had with her. She pushes you if she knows your potential but that helps you grow as an artist! I'm super glad to have been able to be in her classes
Prof. Breitigam offers painting projects that clearly build upon one another and help you test your skills and techniques. I got helpful feedback from her, and I was really happy with all that I learned about other artists and painting in this class. Not only that, but I came out of it with some nice paintings too!
The most influential and dedicated professor I had in my experiences at LSC
Amazing teacher. Prior to the class I didn't enjoy drawing at all, but during the class she helped me to enjoy drawing and was a great help to my abilities along the way.
This professor is a very strict grader, does not offer any help. WOULD NOT RECCOMEND
Gives clear criteria for projects and solid feedback to help you to either become better or keep you moving in the right direction. Helpful and passionate.
