Races through his slides and doesn't always explain things clearly. Also, his exams are brutal and his lectures are as dry as the textbook. If you do take this class, I hope he improves on it next year!

He doesn't follow the syllabus, and doesn't put up lecture notes before lectures making his class hard to follow.

He's a really nice teacher: helpful, interesting and quite funny! The stuff is REALLY interesting and not too hard. *BUT* watch out for the final exam: it's a serial killer!

The material covered in class is somewhat interesting. Whe teaches, he does make his material sound fascinating. But we rushed through the material, he did not answer questions clearly, we had no clue how the final was going to be and the final was BAD!

The subject, I found very interesting, the class itself was alright besides being at 8:30 and travelling the speed of light. BUT..... that freaking exam! I knew all the concepts and tons of details and yet I found myself guessing 1/2 the questions!!!!!!!!

Regarding the final, that was just ridiculous. Cramming almost all the chapters of neuroscience on an exam is one thing, but asking specific questions on random factsis just wrong, especially when the final pretty much makes up our whole mark.

He's an awful teacher: mumbles, speaks too quickly, not clear. He reads slides based on the text - no teaching. The class is doable if you start reading/preparing early! I recommend taking Bio and Perception before this one.

The material for this course is a nightmare: too much & too detailed! The midterm is so-so but the final is horrible. There's nothing good about this course except for the professor: talk about wanting to rip someone's clothes off! Is this he single?

Good God, retire, retire, retire!!! His lectures are impossible to follow, he doesn't show the least bit of concern for his students and his exams make you wonder how he sleeps at night. Take this course only if you have to.

he sucked ass. i couldn't understand what he was saying and he appeared to not know the material that well, especially for stuff outside of the realm of the book. the lectures really weren't worth it.

How do you know he's not single? Cite your source! Other than that, the course is really hard (one must study a whole lot to get an A) but the professor is super sexy, which makes it all worth while.

Well he's good-looking, come on... but he's really incomprehensible during lectures, and he gives hard hard exams... So that's one positive point against two negative points... I didn't find him to be a great teacher.

The general consensus was that Prof. Nader's April 2003 final was a killer. The midterm covered 5 chapters and the final 17, including the 5. I would definitely suggest he add a second midterm and have the final worth 40%.

In general it's a good class but DAMN! that final was rough. I actually wept throughout the exam. The tears started flowing when I reached question 10...OUT OF 100!!!!

I hate biology, but I liked this class. The prof's sexy (to the point of being distracting!), has a sense of humour, and makes the material interesting. The final was insane, but he curved the grades by a generous amount and I ended up doing very well.

A good prof, but his tests are hard. He goes through the slides at a road runner pace. He's so hot that you'll just stare at him mindlessly instead of paying attention. Unless you find neuroscience easy and think he's unattractive, steer clear from here!

This class is not for those who want an easy A. You can do well, but you have to put in the effort.Nader is a really nice guy and totally ready to help, even if he doesn't come off that way at first.Overall, I'd say he's a really good prof and a cool guy!

If you want to have to read and memorize a whole textbook w/o having the feeling that you learned anything, then he's your man. I guess he tries but overall, the grading system of this class is for biology inclined people.

The stuff you need to come out of this class knowing is very important, but Prof Nader doesn't actually teach it well at all. The text is really good, so that obviously helps. Lectures were more for amusement than anything else.

He's a nice guy but he's not the professor type.I agree with everyone, the book is key. NO need to go to class unless you read before hand and want to understand more in detail. Take notes on the book, then go to class to elaborate on those notes.

The worst prof i've ever had.I never go to class-all he does is copy stuff from the textbook onto slides, then reads out the slides.Plus he has THE MOST ANNOYING VOICE.Unfortunately us psych majors get made to take this class...if u don't have to do this class-steer clear, its a waste of time.

The material itself is not so bad but on the second midterm he tried so hard to make students do bad but asking irrelevant questions on the midterm and despite the fact that many students found the questions unfair he did not care at all. I have completely lost all my respect for him.

The class is like a self help group, and the material he teaches in class is useless. He screws you over in the second midterm, cause he has the power. The book is not bad, but the exam is all about DETAIL. If you take this class prepare for hell on earth in terms of memorizing detail.

Not a good teacher. I'm sure he is a very qualified researcher at McGill however, he is incomprehensible. If he was more clear in class and did not blatantly try to curve the marks on the 2nd midterm, perhaps the course could be enjoyable.

I thought his lectures were fine. I didn't have any problem paying attention in class. The textbook is awesome! And by the way, the lectures ARE important, especially the guest lectures so study the slides too!!

His lectures are soooo boring and most of them are useless for the exam; you basically have to learn the whole textbook by heart!! Don't take this as an elective unless you are really good in biology because this is basically a bio course.

The class was challenging. Two midterms, one final. The midterms were all short answers (8/9 questions per midterm). His lectures were a bit disorganized and he sometimes did not post lecture slides that you need for midterms. TA was very helpful though. Great researcher but not so great in the teaching side (hard to follow his thoughts in lecs).

Do not take this course with him. He may be well-known, but he is very lazy, gives surface lectures, cannot express himself clearly, and has no respect for our time. His postdoc had to replace him at the last minute several times to grade our term presentations... once at our request. I think he's a nice, possibly smart person, but a terrible prof.

Very disorganized class. He even lost some of his slides permanently and we ended up not having those lecture slides to study for the final. He simply mumbled over his entire lecture. Very hard to follow his thoughts. I feel the TA should just replace him because she was much more clear than he was. Worst course in Mcgill.

Karim is such a great guy! This class is super interesting and he's so passionate and knowledgeable about the material. He can be a bit confusing at times and doesn't always express himself in the clearest way, but he's always willing to take the time to provide further explanation. Definitely would recommend this class!

No pedagogical interest, mostly guest lecturers. His few lectures were confusing, although sometimes funny. And super hard tests! Expect to understand the readings in detail.

PSYC 514 is more of a seminar rather than a lecture based course. It is an easy A class where you learn a lot about neurobiology of learning. Prof. Nader is very kind when grading students' papers. The class has no sit-down midterm or final exams, just papers to write. Also, Nader is one of the most famous researchers in memory consolidation.
