She is a good teacher. She knows her stuff and tells it in a way that the students understand. People think she is so hard but she is a teacher for majors and is thorough in all of her explications. She relates topics to real life events and that makes it a little easier.

She's great at covering topics in detail and relating them to everyday life which is great for science majors. She also puts diagrams, notes, and quizes online which is extremely helpful. She's known for testing hard but if you go to class you should be fine.

She was awesome! She is a bit tough on tests but if you take notes and study some, you will do fine.

I was intimidated because of such negative feedback; however, she enjoys biology and it radiates in her lectures. All lecture notes are posted on blackboard so you don't have to go to class. Her tests are multiple choice and pretty easy. Just like any science class-you have to study. She's great!

She was a wonderful professor in my opinion. Very clear and interested in the subject matter. I'm pretty good with biology, so I didn't find her class difficult at all!

I took her twice with out realizing she taught the major version of the bio I needed. Dropped the 1st time and failed the 2nd although I worked my butt off! She knows her stuff, she just couldn't get through to me!

She's nice & everything--- but it's a hard class... it's coo that she has her lecture notes on bB--- but our first test the avg. in the class was a 64D... which pretty much explains it all.

Her class was mostly for majors, but I wasnt' a biol major. She posts her notes on blackboard, so you don't have to write alot and she tells you what's important for the test, if you study you should have no problem.

She is a great teacher! Most people say she is hard which her test are a times,but she has very interesting lectures which dont put you to sleep. The hard part is learning how to take her tests. If you do good on the four tests before the final you dont have to take the final!!! Can easily make a B!

3 things you should do. 1. Go to class. 2. LISTEN to the lecture. 3. Study your notes. She also puts notes on Bb that help out.. then you have the book so eventually you will have 3 sets of notes to study from, just STUDY!!

She is what I like to call the "filter". If you are not serious about biology, you might as well not even try taking this woman because she weeds out the people who aren't serious. You definitely have to be dedicated. Biology is definitely not a "do nothing and pass" cirriculum. She makes that very apparent.

Very EFFECTIVE professor. If you are a nursing major, and you WANT to learn, TAKE HER CLASS. It will really prepare you for the 200 level classes. If you want an easy A, or don't like Biology, try another professor.

so far, i love this teacher. some people that dont have an understadning of bio already may have alittle trouble. If u have a clear understanding, u really dont even have to print out the notes or even take them for that matter. but if u dont understand, i do suggest u take notes, and plenty of them. only 4 tests in the semester.

i took Harper last semester and found her to be exteremely helpful! I have never done exceptionally well in biology but i recieved an Ain her class. she makes biology very interesting and easy to comprehend!! if you study from her study guides and chapter review questions you will do great, YOU HAVE TO WORK FOR YOUR GRADES THOUGH!

Some students take Bio instead of chem or physics to fill thier sience track. They expect an easy A. Her course is challenging, but not as difficult as others make it out to be. People say that her tests are horrible no matter how hard you studied. NOT TRUE! She was completely open to helping me, gave extense notes and outlines. I got an A on my first test and that is what convinced me to be a biology major! People need to stop being lazy. Harper is kind and open to ANY questions, stupid or not. I highly reccomend her.

I confess that I dont understand why so many people don't like Ms. Harper. She was very kind, helpful, put her notes from almost every chpt on Bb and put lots of diagrams and pictures there too. There was a three pt. bonus for almost every unit and a bonus on the final, which is not comprehensive. I got A's on every test.

I almost didn't take her because of everything that I read on here. I absolutely loved this class! You do have to study and attend class but she gives you all the material you need to pass the class. If you take it seriously and study hard, you will do just fine. I did not study what was in the book. I only used what she gave us.

Without a doubt a difficult class. Between the multiple blackboard sites, objective questions, word lists, printed notes, and hard tests, she can quickly overwhelm just about anyone. Don't take her class lightly! Luckily for me I've met a few people in the class, and group study sessions have proven worthwhile. Tests are 50 questions on scantrons.

Ms. Harper is SO nice and willing to help, but her class is HARD. It's hard to follow her lectures, she jumps around and gets ahead of herself. She throws in lots of FYI stuff and confused the heck out of me. There are only 400 points so it's hard to bring up a low grade. The average on the last test was a 62. I'm retaking with a different teacher.

Mrs. Karen is incredibly sweet, and is more than willing to help you with whatever you need. The class was difficult, and i had to work hard for my A. Her exams are about 80% objective questions and the word list. She is a difficult teacher, and you have to study to do well in her class. Just pay attention, stay on top of your objective questions.

Took her online and finished with 98%. Not an easy course, though everything expected is crystal clear. Must be very disciplined. 14 tests, 1 for each chapter, all online. You can do them as fast as you want. I finished the class 1 month early.

Mrs. Harper is very EASY! If you show up to class and print out her notes from Blackboard you will be fine. Her tests are just like her notes so look over them and take your own notes as well. Your in college come on do some work. I recommend her to anyone who LOVES BIO.

I took her online class and after the last chapter test, my grade was a couple points short of an A. Professor Harper gave me an opportunity to come to campus to take a comprehensive exam with another one of her classes. I did well enough that she bumped me up to an A. Tests aren't easy, but if you study the material, you will do well.

Ms. Harper is an amazing teacher. She KNOWS her biology and really tries to instill interest in the subject. She uses great study aids and is available for assistance. The tests are from the notes and she doesn't use trick questions. She is definitely highly recommended!!!!

I took her for BIO 151 100% online. I loved the class. You really have to read and study the text. Respondus Lockdown Browser is required and tests are supposed to be closed notes/text. If you study the text the tests aren't too hard. I would absolutely recommend her online class.

Took her online class and it was terrible. She expects that online students are going to cheat so she makes the tests harder to compensate for it. Test are much more in depth and frequent than if you took it on campus. The exam schedule works out to be every other class period in the indentical on campus class.

I enjoyed Ms. Harper's class. She knows what she is talking about and I learned so much from her. BUT, YOU MUST GO TO CLASS IN ORDER TO PASS HER CLASS. ALSO, STUDY! At the end of my semester, I started slacking and not going to class which messed up my grade tremendously.

She is such a nice lady and has to be the smartest person I have ever met. She really does enjoy her job and wants her students to learn. She provides the whole semesters notes to print out. This was one of my favorite teachers. she brings a bunch of diagrams to class, and she summarizes and writes down information so that its easy to take notes. Her tests are super easy if you read the notes and diagrams that she posts on moodle.

Ms. Harper is the bomb. She is very passionate about the sciences especially microbiology so get ready when you learn about mitosis! She was always willing to help and did not make it too difficult. She does require you to actually learn the material and participate. Take her!
