BEST prof. ever!! She was so laid back and easy going and actually took the time to get to know her students. I miss having her; class was always fun b/c she had such a great personality! Def. an easy A if you show up and follow directions. If speech scares you don't worry she's AWESOME!!! Thanks Dr. W for a Great class :)

I usually don't rate my prof.'s, but for Dr. Wilking I made an exception...she is so nice and will do almost anything to help bring your grade up.If you fail this class...well I have no comment. Bottom line, Take Her!!!

Definitely take her if you need to take a speech class. I was super nervous about speaking in front of people, but she made everyone feel so comfortable. The class really got to know each other, so it was not so scary. Only 4 speeches, and she explains everything prior, so you know how what she expects.

Despite the last comment, she actually is a great teacher. She is nice, helpful, respectful, and easy going. You will learn from her class. The final may have been a little difficult, but that really depends if your classmates put enough information in their outlines, so it really depends. Other than that, I highly recommend her.

took her for a Maymester, i was scared at first because maymester is fast paced but i was QUITE surprised with this class! She is an amazing teacher, took her for interpersonal communication take this if you can! SUCH an interesting class, she makes you actually want to come to class. all you have to do is the work! amazing class, so sad its over!!

Mrs. Wilking is GREAT! Shes super helpful and clear, and shes not afraid to speak her mind which is refreshing. Shes funny, and keeps us interested. If you have to miss class alot, or are late often, dont take her class attendance is pretty much mandatory. Test material is well covered. I loved the structure and way this class was set up!

Such an amazing teacher. So easy; little presentations, games, discussion posts, Connect program for work/quizzes. Only like 2 huge projects for the semester and NO essays or major speeches. She's entertaining and nice, lectures are always fun and she's really understanding. Book is necessary for Connect and you have to buy program access code too.

She was amazing! She helped me a bunch and is very entertaining. She is understanding as well of people's skills although she does expect improvement, she still understands that speaking isn't everyone's greatest quality. I would take her again and again

I took her over the summer. I was originally nervous about it bc I hate presenting but it ended up being one of the best classes I ever had. Everyone loved her and each class was fun and entertaining. If you're looking for a stress free speech class take this one.

Mrs. Wilking is awesome. This was my favorite class of the semester by far. She really gets to know each of her students. We only had 2 group presentations and we didn't have any individual speeches. I would definitely recommend taking this class.

I took her class for Maymester 2014 and just loved her class. She is an outstanding instructor. She is very smart, and knows what she is talking about. She adds a great deal of humor to the instruction, and is down to earth. Group and individual presentations, that are easy. Highly recommend taking her class.

Took online. Extremely nice teacher willing to help you out and gives MAJOR extra credit! If you dont pass this class with an A its because you might have slacked off quite a bit. Only did 2 speeches and posted them online and the test are easy as well. Answer can be found during your test as it lets you switch pages to read the online book.

Very nice teacher, she always tries to get people involved in class. Fun and interesting class. Highly recommend her. Weekly discussions and quizzes (easy), all due online. As long as you do your work you will do good.

I took an online class it was pretty easy and clear. Always something due Wed, Fridays, and occasionally Sundays. The class required time especially on homework. The quizzes were a bit hard but then again I didn't have a hard copy of the book just an ebook.

This class is so fun. You have to buy connect, but you have the option to not buy it or the book if you finish all the assignments in the 2 week free trial (which I did do) EASY discussions due every Friday. But she is a wonderful professor she makes class so fun and the marriage project at the end is interesting. No tests though !

GREAT Professor (HUGE understatement though!). She ties in knowledge, but also people skills in everything she does. I would recommend reading Dr. Goleman's book on emotional intelligence to really understand the subject matter. Wish I could take her again! Three words to describe her class: interactive, engaging, and valuable (real life knowledge)

Karin Wilking, is great had fun in her on-line class. you need to be involved in discussion. she gives you great feed back.

Ms. Wilking is great! I would definitely take her again. She tells you specifically how you should do your speeches and doesn't critique you in a mean way, she just gives constructive criticism on how to better yourself for the next speech. She's awesome and I actually like my Public Speaking class. I'd definitely recommend!

Mrs. Wilking is the g.o.a.t (greatest of all time) she is an awesome teacher. It is easy if you do what you're supposed to do and you only have two individual speeches! It's really easy!

Dr. Wilking was my favorite professor hands down. She is very helpful with every assignment, however most of the homework is self-explanatory. The speeches we did 4 I believe, and before we did each speech, we'd do a practice group speech to help prepare use, which I thought was beneficial. She cares a lot about her students.

She was GREAT! Super clear, fun, and helpful! She will not let you fail the class if you do your work. I would easily take her again.

This class was pretty easy. She plays a lot of games in class to keep things fun and you are only required to do 2 serious speeches, other than that there is some work due through connect which is pretty simple.

She's quite the character, and pretty hilarious. She's very into certain "games" or "experiments" to prove or apply her lectures. It's a fun class, although she's fun, she's very serious when it comes down to speeches. The speeches are simple if you follow formatting and do the extra credit she provides, she's open to help students as well.

Took her for both Public Speaking & Intro to Speech Communication - awesome professor! Never mean when critiquing, she's always helpful by telling you what you can do to improve next time. You have online work every week & they're open book tests if you get the online book. I would recommend to everyone who needs to take a Speech class! Love her!

Took this class online. Discussions each week, quiz every other week. Must buy online book for chapter work. Do the work and you'll pass. Final is a paper. I really enjoyed her class.

Took Karin for MayMester , super nice. A lot of work just follow instructions and you will get a good grade. Honestly she should be a life coach. Karin is the mvp #TeamKarin

Wilkings is a very good professor! However if you want an A, you REALLY have to work for it. Make sure to do all your Learn smarts and DONT MISS CLASS. She gives you really good feedback and corrects you when you are wrong, which is a good thing because you ACTUALLY LEARN how to give a good speech after taking this class with her. XTRA CREdit!

This professor was great. Her class is very structured and easy to follow. I took Intro to Comm for flex and it wasnt difficult at all. I learned a lot about communication and speeches from her. The best part is how much she wants you to succeed and how quickly she responds if you email asking for help. Id definitely take her again if I had to.

The best teacher I ever had this semester. Prof. Wilking is amazing and really cares for her students! She is super fun and very engaging. There are only 2 major speeches, and there is homework every week online but it is super easy! She is very understanding and helps you throughout on anything you have thats related to the class.

She is hilarious, and wears the fliest clothes. If you don't buy the McGraw/Hill book you will fail. Two major speeches but she gives tons of opportunity for extra credit. A tough grader and is not hesitant to say "see you next semester". Overall pretty difficult for a speech class but I would take it again if i had to!

Tags I would like to include- participation matters, accessible outside of class, skip class? YOU WON'T PASS. She is very clear on the expectations for the course from the beginning. If you aren't open to construction criticism, this is not the class for you. If you can check your ego at the door, she can really help you become a speaker.

Amazingly caring professor and person. Gives great feedback and doesn't let you coast. If you show up and put in the effort, you'll get an A. She does an awesome job of making sure that the class stays on track and knows what's coming up. This class definitely improved my public speaking skills.

Took Professor Wilking during a flex course and was the best class I had that semester. Her outlines and speech guidelines are very specific, so make sure to follow it. She gives great feedback on what was good and what could be improved on. She used my outline and powerpoint as an example and is a very cool teacher overall. Would take again.

She was amazing. She is not afraid to tell you where you need to step it up. Her tests are all online and you MUST buy the book. You have two speeches. If you take the class online you can either come to a session to do the speech or turn them in via YouTube. COME IN AND DO THEM. I can't stress that enough. She won't let you fail that way,

If you are taking a speech class, she is the way to go! I'm currently in her business communication class and sitting at a 97. I like her so much I enrolled in her Maymester public speaking class. As long as you do the MINIMUM, you will get a B. She doesn't want her students to fail and she is down to earth and very personable.

Professor Wilking truly does have a passion for what she teaches. She makes the class fun and wants everyone to engage in the course, so be expected to speak in front of the class. No need to be nervous, you'll pass as long as you pay attention and participate.

Took this class as a maymester and i LOOVEDd it!! she's an amazing prof. you do have to work for your A but she will do anything to help you pass & do well. she cares. she's hilarious. Gives good feedback and you will see yourself improving throughout each speech if you take her advice, practice, and follow the assignment guidelines.

Took Ms. Wilking for the 5 week summer session online. Super easy class. There were two presentations, homework & exams were are online. Caring professor who gives good feedback and provides extra credit. Even if you don't enjoy doing speeches, you'll gain a valuable skill. Highly recommend her!

THE best speech professor. I am incredibly shy when it comes to presenting in front of the class but she made me feel so comfortable. You are not allowed to use notecards, you have to memorize your speech. You can get up to an extra 15 points on each speech!!!! There are little assignments online that are quick and easy. 3 tests online, TAKE HER!!!

Took this as an online course. Very straightforward and engaging work. The work is mainly online discussions that are very engaging but easy. The only really difficult part about this class was the final assignment which is an analysis essay on a romantic couple of your choice. If you have anxiety/stagefright like me, this is the class for you.

She is very kind and funny. Prepare and practice A LOT for the speeches. They get easier as you go along and she gives good feedback.

Miss Wilking is my favorite teacher/class from this semester. It's sooooo easy to make friends and pass this class IF you pay attention and work for it!

She was always willing to help when I didn't understand something about an assignment. She also responded pretty quickly when I messaged her and helped me even when I asked for help multiple times.

SPCH 1318 is a great class if you're an anxious speaker looking for the right credits. No big speeches - just a final paper. She really won't let you fail, and will email you if you're missing an assignment!

I took Miss Karin's virtual Intro to Speech class for the fall of 2020. She is so sweet, caring, funny, and intelligent. She made each zoom class relatable, enjoyable, and interesting. There is quite a bit of homework but it's mainly busy work. She gives A LOT of easy extra credit too, so take advantage of that.

It was really sad to leave Ms. Wilking when I dropped this course. But I highly recommend her to anyone who needs to take speech. Professor Wilking is so friendly, she gives good feedback even though the intros were mediocre. I dropped the course because it was not really needed for my degree. I will definitely miss Ms. Wilking.

Professor Wilking is the nicest professor I have ever taken a class with. She truly cares about her students and will do what she can to help you pass. Gives extra credit like candy, and gave amazing feedback on assignments.

Loved taking this class. She will not let you fail. Reading is a little heavy. You have assignments after each chapter. But tests can be printed out and you can work on them as you read. 1 speech for this class. Can be done on your own with at least 3 adults or in a zoom meeting, if you do zoom she will not let you fail. She is very kind! Take her!

The reading seemed long at times but the textbook is so easy to work with. You can print out your quizzes and tests to answer while you read. You have 3 speeches.: interview, informative speech, and group speech which are not very difficult as long as you try. She will not let you fail and she a really fun and helpful teacher. The class was clearly organized, interesting, & Professor Wilkins is easy going. If you read the text & participate in the assignments, you'll get an excellent grade. She's no fluff, personable, allows you to work ahead, responds to emails. Also, she met virtually w/ the class at the start of the semester to give tips and explain everything.

professor wilking would help you pass the class, if you gave the effort. she could be a little rude at times, but nothing too bad. she always gave feedback of what she was looking for in her speeches, and extra credit made it easy to get a good grade with preparation.

I had a hard time at the beginning of this class. She can be critical and hurt people's feelings sometimes. I worked hard in the class at the end but it was just a lot of work.

She has been the most helpful professor in college for me. She challenges her students and presents the material in a fun and motivating manner. She gives great critiques and encourages you to improve without being insulting or disrespectful. I have really enjoyed working with her and I will definitely enroll in a class with her again.

Professor Wilking is AMAZING! She gave me great feedback this semester and she was incredibly kind. I loved her course as well as her reminders to turn our assignments in, which most professors don't do. Her expectations are clear and she is willing to let you make corrections on assignments if you turn them in before the due date. Awesome profess.

If you need to take a speech for a summer class, TAKE HER!! She was clear on what she wanted from you, was helpful, and gave amazing advice on your speeches. There were two speeches, one individual and one group. At the same time, there are chapter lessons, quizzes, and finals. The class is very manageable.

10/10. Do not hesitate, if you can take her for credit, do it. Her Maymester is easier than most regular full semesters. She primarily grades you on 3 things, quizzes, participation on learn smarts, short discussions. There's two grades outside that that is all. She incredibly well organized

She is an outstanding professor who is very comfortable in what she does. Very willing to help and work with her students to make them succeed in her class. I took a 5-week class and, despite it going by very fast, I learned a lot about what to improve on from this professor in terms of presentations. If you have this professor, be very grateful.

I took Interpersonal Communication as a 5-week Summer course. The content of the class was informative and assignments were not too difficult. If you are taking this as a 5-week course, be warned that you will have an assignment due every week. It is not difficult if you manage your time and Dr.Wilkings was easy to contact.

Pretty easy and laidback course. There is a final assignment that is a lot of work but she gives you a few weeks to do it. No lockdown browser. Take her if you want an easy A.

Took her online 8 week class and she was super nice and easily accessible! Only thing since it's a 8 week course the speeches were back to back but other than that assignments and quizzes are through McGraw and have multiple attempts. Definitely would recommend her for an easy speech class!
