There's alot of things to do but they're pretty easy. Just do all the little assignments, go to class, and pay attention and you'll do fine. She gives alot of extra credit so that's kinda cool. She's always willing to give extra help.
She's amazing, passionate and insightful. Loved the class.
So many people told me not to take this class, because they said that olga was horrible, i got to class and she was great! if u pay attention, do your work, and try to atleast study b4 the exams it will be no prob. getting an a in her class. She's funny, down to earth, passionate, and very helpful!
Don't take psych 231 with her if you actually want to pass. Tests are really hard, very harsh grader and you're basically screwed if you don't go to lecture.
Worst ever in life.
Awful.
Awful.
everyone said to stay away from this professor...but i found her to be one of the best here at uic. shes funny, smart, passionate about the subject, and very helpful. however you do have to work for that 'a' but she doesn't make it impossible...if you're a slacker this class isn't for u.
This class is fun and easy but mu only problems are her exams! She is a harsh grader!! YOU MUST ALWAYS BE SPECIFIC AND GIVE EXAMPLES!! sometimes in my case thats not good enough since it shows you know the info on the exam but it isn't always what she may be looking for.She is hard!!!
She is a nice teacher. Just go to lecture and she will explain everthing. If your not clear on something or need help just ask her and she will deliver. Stict and tough on grading assignments but it's all fair game. Just follow her instructions and pay attention and you will get a good grade.
Guys she is the best teacher at UIC. Very clear... She has great excellent teaching skills. I dont know why everyone thinks she is a harsh grader. I dont think that she is a harsh grader, actually she is very fair. I just took her class and learned a lot from this class class. Her tests are also easy just attend her lectures and study her study gui
Great professor! She is very clear and explains everything in detail. The exams are ok, not easy or too hard. But you get alot of opportunities to get points such as papers and extra credit. It's not an easy A, but as long as you go to class, and actually try to understand the material, then you'll do well. I enjoyed her lectures!
This is one of the best teachers in UIC! She is so sweet when meeting her in her office hrs. Her exams are a little challenging but she does grade on a curve. And also drops lowest exam grade out 4! She truly Amazing! I would take her again!
"Race and Education" The class has the potential to be interesting, but just dense and dull readings (40-80pgs) for each class. It really feels like a waste. She can come off as quite rude, but she knows what she is talking about.
She is THE BEST! She let's you speak up in class and truly respects each students' opinion. Honestly, this is the best prof I had at UIC, however, there's catch. BEWARE of her exams, she knows exactly what she's looking for. I wouldn't say a harsh grader but more so specific. Unlike some profs, she actually knows how to teach.
She is a harsh grader and expects a lot from u but SHE is THE GREATEST PROFESSOR u will EVER HAVE! She's real w/ u and she's on ur level. Lets u miss class. She knows what she's doing and considerate as well. She makes everything interesting and doesnt just lecture during the whole period
BEST class I have taken at UIC so far. AMAZING prof. and person. Even used Dr. Reyes as a reference for me... she is abs. great... I learned a lot from her. Everyone should take a class being taught by her :-)
This is the 1st time I have her and I heard good reviews .I had the best opinion of her in the beginning of the semester. It went down completely. Very disorganized, contradicts herself, manipulative in a passive aggressive type of way. If you have a good theory, say it in her terms. She thinks simplisticly and only likes u if u think like her
Her class it self is easy if you do the study guides. She gives out a lot of extra credit. BUT she pretends to be helpful and always says "I help out my people" but never replies to e-mails and is a jerk to the max. Seems kind of arrogant. But I guess you don't go to class to be friends with her so just don't expect e-mails back.
She gives a lot of extra credit, lowers the grading scale if the average is low and replies emails real fast. She is really understanding.
i got an A in this class, but i worked my ass off. she is an ok teacher, but she's very picky. her exams are hard but doable. you just need to study her notes, attend class is a must cause she goes over things that are not in the notes. overall if you work hard, you will be fine.
she is hilarious and awesome. the exams are super easy as long as you attend class and read the study guides.
She's not a good professor. She seems not organized. She gives a lot of examples and then realizes that they're not good. She does't know how to explain things well.
She is TERRIBLE! So snappy to students, encourages questions but makes fun of you when you ask anything. SOOOO disorganized- she was late 45 minutes to the final!!! And my phone rang during the final and I got 5 pts. taken away which wouldn't have happened if she wasn't late! Paper took FOREVER to be passed back. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL
one of the most disorganized professors i have had. Showed up hour late to final exam. Her exams weren't to hard (As and Bs on all three) however when reviewing SG she does not explain well. Her answer to your questions will be, "Its right here in the slide." Will not attempt to explain. Really snappy and mean toward students during lecture.
Easy. But as a community psychology teacher she does not seem to follow the"community"philosophy.I found her very annoying &only recommend the class 4the easiness.Class not mandatory but best 2go b/c online notes are Not the same as those given in class & extracredit given.High school level tests, paper Annoying but I & others I talked 2 got As on it
She was an interesting teacher but she picks her favorites in the class. The readings were pointless. Overall, the class was boring and useless.
Easy information, but she is an extremely biased teacher. She calls on who she wants, but expects everyone to participate. If she doesnt call on you, how are you supposed to get a participation grade? Frustrating class. Not very lenient on anything. Do not recommend her.
She gives you notes for class but you HAVE to go to class because she purposely puts blanks in the notes...also she gives extra credit if you go to class. Exams are easy if you study the guides she has online. its a boring class but she tries to make it more interesting and shes funny
She makes sure that we understand the concepts and paces. but one of the meanest and insensitive professors i have ever had... she is humorous in times and keeps your attention but I found her to be very intimidating after few class encounters with students. the exams are tough. i felt ready all the times before i took it but did poorly.
Personally, I've had her for community psych and psych of women and i truly believe she should stick to what she knows which is community psych. I felt that she was harsh at times towards students and did not always know what she was talking about. she uses power p. from the book and i just felt like the class could have been a lot more rewarding.
I dont understand why she doesnt have a higher rating. The tests arent too bad, its just the paper thats such a pain. She gives a lot of extra credit and I think shes pretty funny. Go to class, take notes, sit in the front so she sees you and just go to some office hours. Shes very reasonable. However, the TA's arent nice!Fight for your paper grade
she's not very friendly, and also very strict. i've heard rumors that she reads students' papers and likes to talk about how "stupid" they are...
Extremely helpful and understanding of questions. Paper is a pain but tests are fair and if you do the study guides you'll be fine. PAY ATTENTION TO THE EXAMPLES SHE GIVES IN CLASS as this is where she gets most of her essay questions. Attendance isn't required but you get extra credit if you go! She knows a lot about her subject and is funny too.
She is an empathetic person, but her tests are incredibly hard. They involve obscure theories and terms that you need to know the definition of BACK and FRONT. I have never had multiple choice exams so difficult, which sucks because they are 75% of your grade. Enjoyed the paper assignment, and I think the grade weighed too much on exams. Careful!
Reyes has a very enthusiastic approach to community psych, but she over-simplifies EVERYTHING. On top of the over-simplifying, she uses unnecessary anecdotes to describe the most simplistic theories and expects you to remember them (they're on the test.) Great charisma, but a terrible teacher.
I am baffled by this woman's approach to teaching. She does not clearly state her expectations and does not inform you of your grades throughout the semester. As I get to know more about her I think she is disturbed. She clearly gives some students preferential treatment over others, through a creepy veil of straightforwardness and fairness.
I can't decide if I like her or not. Or if she's a good teacher or not. She's a little crazy sometimes, but she also seems to really know what she's talking about. The class isn't that hard. Just go to the lectures because she gives out a lot of extra credit! But, she encourages asking questions WAY TOOOO MUCH! It makes simple things seem confusing
Honestly, I am still deciding if Dr. Reyes is a good teacher or not. However, there are two things I know for sure: she is a bit insane, and she knows her material. The class is fairly easy. Be sure to attend lectures because she gives out tons of extra credit and she uses personal examples that will appear on the exams in interesting ways.
She's a nice teacher, but really out there. & Sometimes she oversimplified things wayyy too much like others have also said. It made me not want to go to class. However, she does give out extra credit for just about anything. So just go to class and you'll do fine.
I don't know what everyone is hating on her. I thought she was pretty good. She really tries to make sure the material is easy for you to understand and i can respect that. A little rude sometimes but besides that she was fine.
Great professor! Lectures were helpful, but redundant at times and exams were completely based on lectures. The extra credit points were helpful. The hardest part about the class is the paper which requires lots of revisions and research. However, its possible to get a b on the paper and a high a in the class if exam scores are high.
she may give a lot of extra credit but she is definitely not a nice teacher to put it nicely! did not like her at all.
A lot of extra credit, but she is very strict!!! I don't wanna be bias, she does know her material, she can be funny, great examples, but if u don't think like she does, good luck.... I hate this class, if ur late, sit in the second row so she knows who u are... As for the paper, 6mins late to class , there goes 5 points. Only pros: xtrA credit
Absolutely loved her! she makes sure you understand the material and loves giving examples. she cares about her students and wants them to succeed. shes strict only because she cares. paper is not that hard if you are interested in the topic. extra credit savd me!
This is an internship class 6 hours a week, so I wouldn't recommend if you already have one. Overall, class is a waste of time but its mandatory and she usually gives extra credit since people do not come. Most likely you will get an A. No tests, just presentations about your internship.
This is an internship course, so be prepared to spend 6 weeks outside of the already long class period on working at your site. Actually showing up to class is a waste of time and really redundant, but she does want you to be there. She seemed pretty eager to help, but was condescending at times.
I was extremely disappointed with this class and Reyes. Class is a waste of time, but it is mandatory that you go. She picks favorites. Shes condescending. We NEVER even talked about community psychology...literally. Nothing. It was all about our internship sites and our projects and giving our updates everyday.
Love her! On top of the fact that she gives out A LOT of extra credit, the class is really interesting and if you pay attention in class, you'll know the exam questions! Easy A! Do what she asks and you'll for sure get an A. 2 exams: multiple choice, matching, and short answer. Final: multiple choice, matching, and true/false. Paper: 8-10 pgs.
She is knowledgeable in the field and knows what she is talking about. She grades fair. The students who do poorly on the test were usually ones who didn't study, don't pay attention, and don't come to lecture, or surf Facebook all class time.
Amazing and great at holding attention! Fun, funny, and interesting!!! Had her for 2 classes and love her! Want to take more of her classes!
Teaches abnormal psych, which deals with all kinds of disorders that exist. She's knowledgeable, but has a huge issue with students being on their phones, which honestly doesn't make sense as to why? First day of class I received a deduction of five points for texting, which totally contradicts her idea of being flexible...Don't recommend at all...
She is really rude and harsh. Totally rubbed me wrong the entire time I spent in her class. She also doesn't seem like she's very knowledgeable in her field. In my opinion, your best option, if your really trying to learn something, is read the book, which is boring. She says she's flexible but is not. I don't recommend if your a interested student.
I was really interested in Abnormal Psychology, but Professor Reyes ruined it. She was very uninteresting and I could barely understand what she said. The class isn't particularly difficult, she just doesn't know how to teach properly
She is the worst, and community psych makes no sense. She made the class so uninteresting and boring. Exams were hard and it was mostly because of the short answer part. She didn't have lecture slides so you had to listen to her and write down everything she said. I hate community psych and everything related to it because she made so boring
SHE IS THE WORST! do not take her. i thought i would take my chances even after reading all of these reviews, now i regret it! this class is so boring and she is a complete psycho. she calls people out in class and shes just annoying, and rude. TAKE WITH ANYONE BUT HER!
DO NOT take this class with her it was painfully boring plays favorites has the most ridiculous rules you have to write the most useless 10 page paper deducts points if you are on your phone we are adults paying for this class so if its on silent i should be allowed to have it out only take it if you want to ruin your GPA just an awful experience
Reyes is knowledgeable. She provides study guides and offers extra credit You only get 4 grades so one bad exam can effect your grade. The structure of the multiple choice is tricky and not straight forward. She was rude on several occasions. Stopping to yell at students during lecture is so unprofessional. Her demeanor is not very approachable.
She explains things thoroughly, sometimes twice. Exams are easy if you take notes in lecture. Book is used for knowing 2-3 questions on the exam. The only bad thing about her class were the rules. She stops class often to point out texting and it's really annoying. People will always text, just let it go
This was a very challenging class. 3 exams, 1 paper. Each worth 25% of your grade. Hint to do good. GO TO LECTURE. She offers extra credit randomly only if your at lecture. Also all exam questions are basically things she says during lecture or on her study quides. She is not the best teacher, but I can't say she was the worst.
She hates when someone texts or sees a phone. But really if you listen to her and take notes, it's a really easy class. Go to to lecture for extra credits, which she gives a lot of. If do average on tests and get the extra credit its an easy A.
I thought this class was easy in terms of actually doing your work, taking good notes, and going to class everyday. However, she is very rude and mean. I had never had such a horrible experience in an e-mail as I did with her. She called me ungrateful for wanting to improve my grade, which I felt was completely rude and mean of her to call me.
okay guys, she is strict yes and a little rude but not that bad. go to lecture and get extra credit points, don't take out your cell phone. take notes (she uses the book for notes) and exams can be a little tricky but NOT that tricky. most people want an A without even going to class. you're in college, grow up. I recommend her, not that bad.
She is very rude and demeaning, if you want a good grade you need to attend class so you can receive extra credit points. I like the way she teaches (doesn't use powerpoint, talks and reads form book and you have to listen and take notes), but that is the only thing decent about her. Exam questions are silly, take another prof for 270 if you can.
Very rude prof. she replies emails with half capital & half lower case letters to show an attitude. cant use any devices at all.very boring lectures!doesn't know how to use echo center. weird grading system.get every single extra credit pt as possible and u will get A. i got B cos i didn't know how she grades the extracredit. very disappointed
Prof Reyes is a decent teacher, everyone who bashes her is just a lazy complainer. She gives out a tremendous amount of E.C. so just go to class, you pay to do so anyways so what's the deal? My test scores were avg around high C's and low B's. Got a close to a C on the paper but ended up with an A kuz I went to class everyday for E.C.
she is HORRIBLE. she's super rude and contradicts herself. For a teacher who has a million rules about everything....she messed up the 1 time I made an appointment with her. (she was 20min late and double scheduled my appointment time).shes rude and unapproachable.
I was very excited to take this class, but she was an awful professor that made me reevaluate my major. Her lectures are extremely boring and she does not provide any of them online. Her exam material is all common sense, but she words her questions in a poor manner which makes it tricky. She is rude and has an attitude, don't take her!!!
This class was not challenging but I really dreaded going. She has a short temper and tends to over complicate concepts with elaborate examples. I rarely answered questions in class and never used the book but still got an A. Easy course but I won't be taking another with her.
She is very rude and has so many rules. 20 pts off on using cell phone or laptop. She does not give extra credit any more. She only gives 5 extrcred on exams thats all. 90% is A in class. very boring class. take other prof if u can.
She over complicates simple ideas and terminology. Also the way she words her exams makes them very confusing. There are 3 exams and a 10 page research paper (pretty easy) that you will be graded on. She no longer gives extra credit, so it may be tough to get a good grade in the class if you mess up on one exam. She does curve exam grades.
Dr. Reyes is a good professor and she cares about her students. Some of her exam questions are tricky, but she does drop some questions after the exam after asking students their opinion. The paper is easy as long as you follow the instructions.
She does not use any technology. Very traditional professor, paper and pencil note taking. She can be rough/rude but only if you give her a legitimate reason to do so. Just follow her rules, and youll be fine. She can be funny and crack jokes in class which is great. Shes a very knowledgeable person and will straighten you up if you need it.
This teacher is really rude and unprofessional. She made rude comments when I asked for a extension to a test I missed because of people passing away. She also does not round grades even if your right on the curve. Disliked her!!!
I have never ever been badly graded in my life. I love psychology but how she represented this subject was poorly done. She is unorganized, rude, not patient, and most importantly unfair. She contradicts herself so many times. DO NOT take ANY of her classes, this is a WARNING. Graded mainly on multiple choice and her extra credit does not help.
VERY few powerpoints, majority of class just her lecturing. Posted online so if you missed class you could listen whenever. MC exams w/ study guides. Paper was easy, she even lets you submit a draft where she'll say what needs to be fixed. Says no EC but she knocks off questions from exams that are missed by a lot, and does ass EC questions to them
She was not clear in explanations. Tests were hard because they didn't sink well with what she taught.
Never approached her directly, but doesn't seem as harsh as people say she is. She is pretty clear in lecture, even nice enough to spell out words for you. Good sense of humor! Love that attendance isn't necessary, especially since lectures are online. Tests are a little more on the hard side, but if you study and read the book you should be fine!
If you want a mean teacher that doesn't use power point slides, and u take notes from her verbally, and drops your grade down a letter if you have your phone out go for it.
This is my 2nd class with prof Reyes and she has changed a lot. She was so strict in psych231 but she is no as harsh as she used to be. Yeah her tests are difficult and based on things she says in class, but she gives out a ton of extra credit! Only if you are in class though! Just got to lecture! She is so funny and make class interesting!
took her for Psych 315. Doesn't take attendance but she gives out a bunch of EXTRA CREDIT! you can get an 'A' easy. One extra credit I recall was dancing with her in class, although it sounds silly it was 3 pts. She also gives EC on exams. 1 paper 3 exams non cumulative. she's strict but silly at times. highly recommended
She's a funny teacher. I enjoyed going to her classes because of how she conducted class. She gives out a lot of extra credit points so there shouldn't be a reason not to get a good grade
Exams were kind of hard, but information that was covered during lectures was included & PLENTY of extra credit. It's hard waking up for an 8 AM class, but Dr. Reyes' lively personality actually made me want to come to class (along with the extra credit points given out during lectures). I would definitely recommend her! 3 exams & 1 paper :)
This class is really interesting and not boring. BUT she doesn't put up any slides so make sure that you take notes!! Honestly, just take notes and you won't even need the book regardless of what she says. GO TO CLASS, she gives EXCESSIVE EC!! And every exam is 50 Q and 10EC Q meaning total is really 120100. I ended up with over 100% in the class
I enjoyed her Psych315 very much! Basically no Powerpoint slides used at all. Tons of extra credit just for attending class. You just have to ask if material in lecture is confusing - she is always happy to explain things again. Go to class, take notes, and skim the book.
Everything is on lecture capture. Her exams are difficult. Gives tons of extra credit for attending class. The research paper is tideous.
I love her! I was so unsure about taking her class because I read all the negative reviews but I'm glad I took her class. She is so repetitive but that's good! The more she repeats, the more it sticks to your head. She gives a ton of extra credit too. I never studied and I've gotten almost perfect scores. She's funny too. I've truly learned a lot
Class attendance is not mandatory but I highly recommend to attend because the lectures are not provided in a slide show and provides random extra credit opportunities in class. Overall, she is great instructor, friendly, eager to to teach and help. The exams are multiple choice and very easy! Take this class, you won't regret it!!!!
She is one of the best professors you can have for Undergrad experience. She gives a lot of extra credit. She is very through with her stuff and the lectures are very clear. She welcomes questions during class and is also available after class. Very approachable and super nice.
I'm sorry, but the people complaining about her are probably the idiots getting caught playing with their phone in class or the people who somehow got a B or lower, even with all the extra credit. Dr. Reyes is one of the best professors I've ever had. She knows how to connect to our generation, and she is very responsive to email. TAKE HER!!!!
If you want to learn in an easy class, Reyes is the teacher for you. She explains very well and has a ton of extra credit. Perfect for an 8 AM. Come do the study guides and you are sure to get an A.
Overall, she did a wonderful job with the material that she went over. ParticipationAttendance really add to how well you do only because how she teaches in mainly integrated with her lectures being very helpful and she never progresses with what she teaches until we were all on the same page.
I took the class over the summer and I will say that the book is required. The book is available online for free but you have to look for it. The class covers many interesting topics and the professor is very approachable on any and every issue. Gives a lot of extra credit both in class and exams which helps to boost the grade by a lot.
At first I wasn't sure if I liked her teaching, but after taking a class where all the teacher did was lecture I loved Reyes' class. She makes the lectures funny. Pay attention to her specific examples bc they will be on the test. Textbook not needed. Just take notes, ask questions and be ready for extra credit. She's good!
She can be really mean and condescending at times but the class was easy. Just don't use your phone in class cuz she will catch you! She finds joy in catching people on their phones. Tons of extra credit over 100 extra credit points in a 400 point class. Had over 100% in the class . One essay a bit tedious . Book is expensive don't buy it
She does give extra credit but you will need it. Tests are hard, even if u read the book. 3 tests and paper. paper is tough and she grades super hard.
She's an amazing professor and I'm sad I can't take another one of her classes before I graduate. She makes going to lecture fun and lets the students talk about their own experiences. Three exams, no final and she gives SO much extra credit. I have over 100 percent right now and this is my favorite class
SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT. you can get on C on every exam and with the extra credit easily get an A. The key is to go to class! no classno extra credit. Just take notes during lecture on what she says and you will me fine
Anyone who says she's a bad instructor clearly never goes to class. She has no problem handing out extra credit to those who attend class. Probably have had at least 100 points of extra credit this semester. This is my third class with her. All classes are 3 exams and 1 paper.
Topic is interesting but she just sits all class and reads from her own notes. She is condescending and rude. If you have an opinion that is different from hers, she will rippp you apart. Do not walk in late. Avoid her if possible.
She was a really good professor. She has a different teaching style which is quite effective in my opinion. If you attend class and take notes you can easily get an A. Even if you can't attend class, she has her lectures all recorded which is quite helpful. She gives tons of extra credit that is easy to get as long as you attend class! Take her!!
She did not seem to want to be there. Horrible, do not take. Instead of learning we mostly hear people's opinions on stuff. That is why the test were hard even if you read the book.
She's very laid back and chill. She gives a lot extra credit in class and during the exams. The exams are based on the lectures and some material from the book which she'll tell you. I studied the day before and always got an A or a B. slides aren't used, but she'll hold your attention during note taking and she'll repeat if necessary.
Horrible! Do not take! I was really looking forward to this class but she is def not a good professor to take it with. If you met with her for something, she was rude. Exams were hard even though I read all the chapters on my own. Avoid.
Very rude when trying to ask her about a concept or a simple question; just not welcoming to students at all. I regret taking this class.
Her exams are tough, even if you do read the book and go to every lecture and take good notes, luckily she gives extra credit.
I was skeptical of taking her classes because of the bad rap she gets on here but luckily I did, she is a great professor! She explains difficult topics well, available for help if needed. I didn't use the book, took detailed notes, attended every class, took advantage of the massive amounts of EC and received an A. The 3 tests are alright, 1 paper
Professor Reyes is awesome! The exams are a little tough but she gives so much EC that it makes up for it. Just go to class because she'll randomly take attendance (or give EC pop quizzes, open notes though) & it will boost your grade! Without the extra credit, I had a low B. Once she added all the EC, I had a 120%! Take her class! :)
She's a great professor. She does not put powerpoints up on blackboard, but she uses lecture capture so you can go back and rematch the lectures. Very minimal information on the powerpoints she uses in class. Gives lots of extra credit opportunities, and tests aren't ridiculously hard. Show up, pay attention, read your book, and you'll do well.
This class was one of the best classes at UIC and it is all thanks to Professor Reyes. She is amazing! She offers a lot of extra credit, and even though there is a lot to cover in lecture, she has a great sense of humor and truly makes the class really interesting. Highly recommend her.
This is not an easy course. Heavily condensed. She's very rude and try to make people feel bad and humiliate whoever don't pay attention in class. Would randomly ask you a question in class and expect you to know it. Exams are hard so you must attend class to know what she talks in class. 90% of the exams are what she talked about in lectures.
She gave out extra cred everyweek. It's a must to attend the class because you will need them. There is no point reading the book because her exams are not concepts based. Her exams are based on what you watched in lectures, lectures discussions, notes etc. Make students feel unwelcome to approach and get help. She made a lot of people avoid her.
LOVE her as a professor. She's funny, realistic, and genuinely cares. She gives A TON of extra credit, basically enough to pull your grade up one whole letter. Her lectures were kind of scattered so you have to pay attention to grasp all of the information, but she does a great job teaching the class. Love her!
Dr. Reyes is amazing and I love her lectures. I feel like majority of the people here who left bad reviews are overly sensitive and cannot handle a few jokes. Honestly, with the amount of extra credit we get in the class and having a very detailed syllabus idk how people are still lost.
I went into this class thinking it was going to be difficult; however, Dr. Reyes is always super clear on what she expects from us. She gives a ton of extra credit! All you have to do is make sure you make it to class and take notes. Her exams are lecture heavy. Highly recommend!!
So I might be in the minority for having this opinion, but she gives out WAY too much extra credit for an easy class. You could essentially skip a bunch of assignments and still get over 100% for the class. IMO, this only encourages students to not do their best. Other cons: disorganized ppts and her monotonous voice that sucks the life out of you.
This professor gives a lot of extra credit. Allows for discussion with a large lecture course and very interesting material. Lecture slides are provided for note-taking, but the notes are not always clearly laid out. Most of the material is conceptual (not very heavy on definitions). Follow her lectures and you'll do well.
Worst teacher I have ever taken. Horrible person. I don't know why she is even a professor. Ask her a question she will insult you instead.
Prof. Reyes is a pretty cool professor and does get discussion going nicely, which makes the class interesting. Theres only one big paper, two tests, and attendance isn't require if you do the reading, but she gives out so much extra credit, that you want to go to class to boost your grade. Very packsack heavy, so beware, but thats the only downsid
-Posts lectures on blackboard, therefore if you miss it's okay. -Recommend that you don't miss because she gives a lot of surprise extra credit opportunities. -Lectures are interesting, and she's funny. -Major Paper, start working on it early on!

Reyes is the the of professor that seems hard but actually grades very nicely. Her exams are difficult but she curves like crazy and removes many questions. Attend class so that you can grab that delicious and juicy extra credit. That EC adds up and literally bumped me up into the high A range when I was expecting to get a B.
Has a soothing voice and her lectures were funny and interesting. I enjoyed the class, was probably my most relaxing class all semester. Thanks, Dr. Reyes! Two tests, one of which is the non-cumulative final. Attend class and watch the movies/take notes to get extra credit. One major paper, which I wrote in three and a half weeks and got an A on.
Easy class! 1 paper which is pretty tough but gives you lots of time and resources. Other than that, just 2 exams. She doesn't take attendance and Lectures are very boring and she doesn't post a lot on them. She's very passionate but kind of monotone and boring. Graded on packsack weekly w/ opportunities for extra credit.
Lots of extra credit, but you'll need it! Exams are specific and tough, especially since the powerpoints have almost no info on them. Paper was graded harsh as well. With the extra credit, everything is manageable. Lectures were not very interesting, mainly listing stats that are common knowledge if you're into women's issues. Didn't learn anything
My eval after the 1st exam: You need to attend class in order to do well on her exams, you cannot rely only on the ppt. A lot of content is from what she says and many times there's not a slide on it. She also gives a bunch of extra credit in class and in the exam which is great.
