She was very engaging and energetic as well as understanding. She did a great job of teaching us the course material. But you have to show up to class. I learned that the hard way.
Awesome professor, highly recommended. Teaches you to engage
I learned a lot on her class. Her constructive criticism of my work was helpful. I believe it will make me a better student in the future.
For what it's worth, I couldn't select GIVES GOOD FEEDBACK because she didn't participate in the discussions or give much of any feedback. This also means I can't select inspirational. There not clear grading criteria. Not much humor. The extra credit was nice.
I really like Professor Rosander. Her class was very easy to understand and she always included real life applications. Overall, good class!
I really enjoyed this class. She was very willing to work with students and gave the perfecta mount of time to complete the work assigned.
This class was motivating. She was very caring and worked with the students and made sure everyone was able to succeed.
Professor Rosander was super great to work with. I came into the course a little late and she was super helpful and gave me enough time to complete all the assignments. Course work was doable, no busy work which was nice. Overall great experience.
Fun and pace class
I really enjoyed Karisa Rosander as an instructor. She was amazing at communication, making sure that everyone was on the same page and we all knew her expectations as well as the assignments. She was very fair, working with students in different areas and making sure she made herself available for communication and questions.
Really interesting class and caring teacher.
Overall very laid back, but still a very good professor.
Karisa was a great professor. She was always willing to help. If you are going to take communications, you NEED to take it from professor Rosander. Because of her I decided to change my major. Her class is not hard at all but only because she can describe the course material so well and she will also relate it to real life. Overall gem.
A good general class. I feel like the communication wasn't strongly stated about what was expected so it was hard to know what to do to do well. For example, giving speeches was hard to know exactly what needed to be done to do well. It was kind of a guessing game...
Overall great course for someone who want to be better at public speaking.
Professor Rosander changed my point of view of communication for the better. She was willing to work with me one on one and even worked with me when I missed classes. She always makes sure the class understands each concept to the best of their abilities. I am not the best public speaker but she made me feel comfortable. Highly recommend!!
It was a good class, I learned lots of transferable skills.
The only thing I didnt really like about this class was the online textbook. The rest of the class was easy and fun.
Loved the class, easy and fun. The online textbook was horrendous, it was practically an outline of what was needed... Good thing there were no subject tests...
I really like Professor Rosander. I thought she was a very good teacher and was very helpful. When students asked questions she would see if any of the other students wanted to share what they thought and then she would share her thoughts. The speeches were the main part and were pretty tough but she is really good at helping you with grades
Relates to students very well. Great knowledge of subject.
Such an awesome professor, she makes the whole class fun even during lecture.!!
Great class, pretty interesting. Not much work besides two big presentations. But overall pretty fun class and an awesome teacher.
Was a good class!
Great teacher! This class relates to the real world and was very enjoyable!
Great teacher. You care a lot about the class, dont be afraid to be tough on the class. Make us work for our grade, dont let us off easy.
I wasn't sure about taking a communications course because I don't like speaking in public, but Professor Roader made the class super welcoming. This is a class that I looked forward to, she made sure to answer all of our questions clearly and she made sure that everyone was involved in the class. Overall this class was tough but worth it.
Professor Rosander is AWESOME! She made her classroom a place that you felt respected which made it easier to get up in front of the class to give speeches or made you want to participate in discussions .
The class is almost entirely discussion based. It was super laid back though. She gives a lot of useful feedback on the speeches which are a little intimidating (public speaking and such), but she doesn't grade them harshly. She's very reachable if you ever run into a problem.
Great teacher, really learned a lot.
Great teacher! Made the class feel more like a family than a bunch of students. She took the time to get to know everyone by name. She cared for her students and she had good relationships with all of them. She was patient.
She was a great teacher. I would definitely request her to anyone. She did an amazing job connecting with the kids and making sure we knew what and how to do things. If you want to take communications 1010 I highly recommend Karisa Rosander!
I loved this class! I really felt as though Karisa cared about us and what she was teaching. She gave good feedback and was always available. She rewarded hard work and as long as you show up and put forth effort and do the assignments, it wasn't hard to keep a good grade through the semester.
Professor Rosander is a great professor, she made me feel comfortable with a topic that i was terrified with while helping me understand the importance of it.
This professor gives a lot of busy work and there is a lot of online textbook use. You need your textbook for sure. She is extremely nice and understanding of situations. As long as you do all the work and turn it in you can get an easy A. There is public speaking, so if you dont like to speak in front of a class you might struggle.
For a first year professor, she has been really great! Doesn't make things harder than they need to be and is very accessible outside of class. She learned my name within the first few weeks of class and often says hi to me in the halls when we cross paths.
This class was a breeze. You have to purchase an online program. The assignments are all really easy, and she is a very generous grader. You will give two big speeches during the course. Karisa is young, hip, and still gets what it was like to be in school.
You will have to read the whole textbook in order to do well in this class.
She is super nice and makes class fun. She isn't too hard on grading or anything.
Great professor. Shell work with you on your grade and gives extra credit opportunities. Overall, Im glad I took this course from her and would strongly recommend her to anyone who needs to take this course.
Fun class, I would recommend it to future students.
Professor Rosander is a very nice and patient professor. Her class involves a lot of open discussions, chapter readings, and quizzes. She gives good feedback and explains assignments and concepts very well.
Professor Rosander's lectures were great, as may be expected from a communications professor. She's very laid back and welcomes discussions, rather than simply talking at the class for an hour. In lieu of tests, there are two speech presentations that are worth a lot of points. The class was enjoyable, in a large part due to her teaching.
She was very outgoing and fun to take this class from. I would recommend her to anyone who is wanting to take this class.
The professor was really great and understanding of personal situations as long as you communicate with her. (It is a communications course, after all) Overall the class was pretty easy and there was a lot of extra credit opportunity if an assignment or speech didn't go well.
Prof. Rosander is awesome! She's laid back but doesn't lose the respect of her class. You stay busy in her class, but you're generally never overwhelmed. Would take again.
She is just a good teacher
This class was not my first choice, but today I can say what a good choice I made. Professor Rosander is so nice, I loved her way of teaching she was not hard, she listens and understands students. She is carrying, she would always do her best to answer the questions you ask.
She is very willing to help you with anything in the class. Super nice to work with. I would recommend talking class from her.
She really nice to to work with. She'll help you with anything you need with in the class. Very nice. Recommend talking the class from her.
Really kind and understanding. She created an open environment for the class to talk honestly. Take her class.
This professor does a very nice job teaching and engaging with students. It is not a lecture based class in the sense that you go through a PowerPoint and take notes. It will push your communication skills.
She didn't really make the class interesting. Everything that we did in class just felt like busy work and that she was just trying to pass the time.
A great teacher if I had any questions she was there to help
She is very understanding and kind. A great professor all around.
She was very understanding and she was one of those professors that I liked to say hi to in public.
She is an excellent professor, the best one I had this semester. She actually cared about each student and wanted to help them.
There aren't any tests. You just have to do two 5-7 minute speeches and then gloss through the textbook to do a few assignments. If you do the work you will get an A because she grades pretty easy. She does have random participation points but there is plenty of extra credit so just make sure your in class a decent amount and be there for speeches!
She was very good at what she was teaching. She wanted to make sure everyone understood too. She is a great professor!
We really only had two big assignments and they were just giving two speeches that were not difficult at all. She was very understanding and not a tough grader.
She is willing to help and accommodate her students. She is fair. We gave one informative speech and one persuasive speech. There weren't a ton of assignments, and they weren't super difficult (however, sometimes having motivation to do them was.) You get what you want out of the course, even though it's easy to just sit and listen, participate.
Great teacher, cares about students, lots of online homework
Yeah, Ms. Rosander is the perfect instructor for this class. You can tell that she wants everybody in her class to pick up the skill and art of public speaking. I definitely would take the class again just to keep polishing up on my own skill. Ms. Rosander really knows the subject and can help anybody be a better public speaker.
Karisa Rosander is an amazing professor that is by far the best. She is caring and wants whats best for you.
She is a really great teacher because even from being an international student she made feel comfortable so that I could understand as well as the others .
Really great professor! if you show up and do your assignments you will pass easily.
Not made aware of a lot of the homework, you have to constantly check canvas to see if there is something. But great teacher to work with and very understanding!! I would defiantly take another class with her.
Easy credit class.
She's really nice, and if you ever have questions inside or outside of class she makes herself available. I think this was her first semester teaching the course. She read right out of the book a lot, so the class was kind of dry. There's like a one page assignment every week and the tests are open book, so it's easy to get an A.
Professor Rosander was a great professor. She showed interest in her students and genuinely cared for her students. I think that was really important for students with anxiety who will be taking this coarse, she is very understanding. Not a lot of assignments just a lot of discussions in class and a few papers due throughout the semester!
She really cares about you and your progress in class. Will work with you and help out wherever she can.
She is great. She speaks Chinese as well. Karisa always prepare for classes, and do not have much assignment. If you skip the classes, you can attend the activities that could give you extra credit.
This is a very meaningful class for me. I could ask any question I don't understand whatevet about sutdy or life. And I always could get a detailed answer.
I really enjoyed her class. You have to give two speeches. No tests. There are like weekly assignments.
Attendance will lower your grade significantly, go to class and do your online assignments on time and it's an easy A.
Karisa is a great professor. Even though she is young, she really tries to make you think for yourself. Sometimes she will mark your attendance, but overall, because of Karisa, I have even thought about changing my major to communication. Her class may be an "easy A" but you do learn more than you would think from her class.
She's super nice, but doesn't know a lot about what she's talking about. I asked her questions and she googled the answer right in front of me. I would ask her to explain a topic or question and she kind of beat around the bush and didn't every answer the question.
She is a really helpful professor. Her class is interesting and relaxing. Her class will be helpful for the international students.
We had to give two speeches and that was the biggest part of the class. Nothing too terrible.
Sometimes slow to grade homework, and occasionally not enough explanation for my liking, but great professor, would take again.
Busy work.
She was a great teacher. Only had two tests which were open book and open friend. We had roughly one assignment a week which was super easy to do. Its not mandatory to go to class but she does do participation every once in a while. If you don't go to class you won't miss anything. She is a GREAT teacher and super easy! I highly highly recommend
Great professor interested in her students and their success
The class was mainly just lecture with a game at the beginning. Your grade was based on 2 speeches given throughout the semester.
There was a lot of discussion. It was easy to ask questions and share thoughts and experiences.
Great professor. Shes young so she gets where students come from.
She is a great professor with a desire to help students participate in class and learn from what they are learning. Assignments are based on applying what you have learned to "real life" situations. Tests are open-book, so that is helpful. Very fair teacher. Attendance is important and so is participating!
I really enjoyed this class! I didn't expect it to be a small class but I ended up really liking it! Karissa did a great job of making us all feel comfortable she was easy going. You really have to stay on top of the book work because that is the bulk of grades, but overall she was fun, lively and I would take another class from her again!
She is a good teacher who gives you the details to learn the basics and helps you apply them . I would definitely take her again.
New to teaching, she has the spirit and the drive, she just needs a little bit more experience. I assume after a couple more semesters, she'll be very good at it. Fun person to talk to and easy to get along with.
Not professional. Always posting selfies before class and tries way too hard to still act like a student. Too flirty with the guys in class.
She has no idea what she is talking about. Just wants to tell stories all class and had no grip on the course content. Do not take Interpersonal Communications from her.
She is a very caring and kind professor. She is easy to talk to and made the material interesting.
Great teacher, highly recommend taking her.
Very good teacher. Learned a lot from her.
It was a good class, lots of talking, thinking. It made me think a lot. I really liked it!
She is a really good professor, she can relate very well with us college students because she is closer to our age. It was a fairly easy course and she was always offering to give us the help we needed to keep up a good grade.
Great teacher, will listen and be understanding if you communicate with her. Adds fun to the classroom, overall an enjoyable person.
I really liked Prof. Rosander and I feel bad that our class wasnt very talkative because I think that was a challenge for her. Overall a great professor and a fairly easy class!
Karisa is a very kind person. She is very young with close to zero experience with what she is doing. Her tests and quizzes were very unprofessionally written making it hard to understand the questions and possible answers. In class she was full of poor and awkward efforts to get students to participate.
She is an alright teacher and she is super nice. She doesn't do a ton of assignments or tests. It's an easy A but very very boring. Her assignments are pointless and busy work, but they are easy to do.
Karisa is a new teacher, and you can tell that she's still learning herself. Be patient with her and you will do great in the class. She's a very fun person and all around good woman! Her class was fairly easy, and if you're looking for an easy credit, take one from her. She is understanding of students and makes it an easy semester.
She is a good teacher and is really nice, enjoyed class.
Karisa is super nice and helpful but she is also really inexperienced at this point so don't go in expecting her to know exactly what she is doing.
Wonderful teacher while she is very new she understands her topics and tried to involved the class in group studying and presentations.
Professor Rosander is amazing. She is young, bilingual and kind.
Most of the in class stuff was not graded. The assignments don't require very much, just finding a Youtube video that matches a topic in the chapter.
She is super nice and pretty willing to work with deadlines if you talk to her in advance. Be ready for large group conversation.
Her course is very informative, Profesor cares about her student's success in the class. More professors should be like her. Would definitely take a course from her again in the future.
She is a good professor. You should memo of the Kahoot questions in the class.
Professor Rosander was very helpful and quick to answer questions. I am a distanced learning student, and she was more than willing to work with me (despite it not being an online course). She offers some extra credit.
She's one of the nicest professors I've had and is always accessible outside of class. She offers plenty of extra credit.
She's one of the nicest professors I've had and is always accessible outside of class. She offers plenty of extra credit. Make sure you go to class though, a lot of assignments are in class and you do get graded on attendance.
This lesson is very friendly to international students. And Karisa has given us a lot of help.
It was a very easy class, it was embarrassingly easy. I would not take this class again and don't recommend it for anyone. The lecturer, not a professor, would want us to address her as professor and that rubbed me the wrong way.
Professor Rosander taught an informative and helpful class that was not a big strain on my workload but still stimulating and applicable to all sorts of fields of study. I wasn't a huge fan of all the Kahoot but, hey, why cry?
Professor Rosander performed a great job teaching her students in our Communocation course. Although the class itself was kind of busy work, she definitely made the course fun and entertaining.
Karisa is really great professor. She is my friend.
willing to take the time to make sure that you understand what she is talking about so that we are not confused.
Good class. Not very hard. Nice way to fill up a few credits
I enjoyed some of the less conventional assignments. It isn't a difficult class, but I learned some valuable things.
It was not difficult class. She is a good professor who gives good grades.
This class involved a lot of self-reflection. Good text choice and I enjoyed the selected TED talks.
she was very understanding and always had good positive vibes I would definitely recommend her to a friend who wants to take the course.
I love how we used the book and I love how in class we had to participate.
Before taking a communication class, I was a little afraid of the weak points of inexperienced English and speaking. However, thanks to the professor's friendly class and her speaking-oriented class, I understood various topics well and was able to complete them safely. Thank you
Really easy and laid back but serious at the same time about the work.
I am so glad I took her class! She lays out the syllabus clearly, and follows through with it. The assignments were straightforward, but she gave us room to be creative and alter the assignments to fit our interests. She gave great feedback and was quick to respond. I would recommend her class to anyone!
Great professor, she cares about her students succeeding. And will go out of her way to help you throughout the semester. Would take a class from her again!
quite new prof. gives extra credit for rating
Karisa is a good teacher for students and also a good friend for us. No matter we study in China or Suu, she gave us a lot of help.
Karisa is a great professor with great ideas and activities planned for this course. I wish the course was more involved and I wish we would have covered more, but for a intro-level communication course, I think it is great. We have two speeches, informative and persuasive, and Karisa has definitely made me a better speaker.
She worked around our schedules and cared about helping us in any way. She was always nice but wasn't a push over. She always came well prepared with a lesson plan and the work always felt beneficial, never busy work. I loved her!
This class was good it put me out of my comfort zone but didn't stress me out too much that I hated it.
A pretty simple class overall. The biggest assignments were two 5-7 minute speeches which were not that bad. Other assignments were not too difficult either and mainly consisted of short 1-2 page papers. The professor seems to still be a bit new to teaching, but with time, her classes may get more structured and feel less unorganized.
This professor did an overall great job, I appreciated her class and learning from her.
She is a good teacher that cares about your questions. One of those teachers you feel comfortable with.
Professor Peacock was a really good professor. The assignments aren't too hard and she always was really great to explain anything you didn't understand. She does have textbook assignments, but they are mostly what you think about the section you read. She has two big speech assignments, but she lets you choose what it's about!
This Comm 1010 class is good. You learn the basic and how to give a speech. You also learn how to communicate with your relationship partner.
COMM1010 was a fairly easy course, but Mrs. P encouraged hard work, and made the class really fun.
She's a great professor, and is willing to work with you. There is quite a bit of reading, especially in the first half of the semester. Pretty easy course overall though.
love this class.
She took a lot of cares to students and give many feedbacks to students
English is second language for me but professor Karisa Rosander made the the class clear and understandable. I did not faced any barriers of language because she is professionally preformed the classes. I was thinking to major engineering but I picked communication because I will take most of my classes with her if that possible.
I enjoyed her class. She was always open and understanding. She expected us to do a couple of presentations and participate in group discussions, but they weren't difficult. There was a bit of reading at the beginning of the class, but she provided the text, so we didn't have to buy a textbook. She also offered a lot of extra credit opportunities!
She is an awesome teacher I would recommend
I took Prof. Rosander for and Online Course, COMM-2120-30I, and I thoroughly enjoyed the course material, the readings and the assigned work. She is great to work with, responds to emails, and genuinely cares about your success.
Helpful teacher
This class was very fun. We were able to learn a lot about the importance of cultures and what it had meant to us.. and we got to go more in debt with how cultures are respected and how we can continue to respect each others culture.. overall really enjoyed this class
Not too much homework, but the work we were assigned actually mattered to our learning. There was no busy work. I learned more in this class than I would in a class that would require a lot of assignments and busy work. Professor Rosander is caring and understanding of her students. She communicates very well and is very caring.
She is a very good professor. She is always enthusiastic and patient with her students.
Professor Rosander is a really good teacher and she did a good job of learning all our names and helping us get to know each other and be comfortable in class.
She made this class about communication fun by using communication. She asked questions to us and we had discussions and didn't make the class more difficult than it needed to be.
She is a really good professor.
Great teacher, just as the course name states, it's introduction to communication. Our midterm and final were 5-7 minute long speeches about a subject of our choice. The grading rubric was available for us before the speech.
She was good, get ready to speak in front of the class. There were lots of quizzes but as long as you show up to class the class is pretty easy.
Great professor! Lots of speaking practice, but quizzes are manageable if you attend class. Found unstuckstudy and ChatGPT really helpful for exam prep.
Very kind professor, her lectures are very interesting and will give you many opportunities to improve your grades. She will give you a lot of help and encouragement. She is very passionate about teaching and will give very detailed explanations to your questions.
