I took this course over the summer. It was so much easier than I was expecting. Our final was take home and you could work in groups. Prof. Workman grades the speeches very generously. As long as you try, there is no reason you can't get an A.

Mrs. Workmans says that teaching speech is her passion. She likes what she does and is shows. I got a C in the class but could've made an A if I would've tried harder. Work hard and you'll learn a lot! Believe me though...you should take HER class not the others! I heard some bad stuff about some of the other instructors. -C

I would have never made it through speech without Mrs. Workman. She is by far the nicest, kindest, and most compassionate teacher at UCF. The class is not a cake walk, you need to prepare for your speeches and STUDY for the tests for they can be rather challenging. Take her if you can.

I took this class over the summer. Mrs. Workman makes speech easier than it already is!!! Her tests are easy. Just know the vocab. and look over the text a few days before the exam. If you get less than a B, then something is wrong.

She is very helpful and cool! Her class is kind of easy, except for some fancy definitions in the book for some common sense words. Overall, I liked the class and I recommend her for a speech class. She is a very good teacher!

love love love her!! it's impossible to fail anything with her...but lecture tests are pretty tough. really sweet, easy to talk to. hated the idea of public speaking...now it's so easy. she makes everything easier and more comfortable. speech topics are so broad, you can speak on anything you want. Mrs. Workman is one of the nicest people I have ever met. She treats all her students like her own children and is very understanding and compassionate as well lenient on speech grades. However don't underestimate the exams because they will kill you. not sure how i did yet

Mrs. Workman is great...easy grader and treats you like youre in kindergarten. The tests are a **** b/c she doesnt make them up she does them along with mrs. bledsoe and mr. ida. HOwever, i got a 97,93, and 92 on my speeches, literally FAILED with 50's all my tests and got a B-.

This class was a breeze. Workman is a great professor and does whatever she can to help you outside of class. I read the chapters in the textbook and took my own notes, along with studying the notes from the main lecture and did fine on all the tests.

Karisa Workman has possibly been the best teacher/professor that I have ever had in my life. She is an extremely nice and personable instructor and she knows her stuff. One of my favorite teachers I've ever had at UCF! She is extremely nice, personable, funny, and caring. There are 3 main speeches: Cultural Diversity, Informative, and Persuasive. She thouroughly explains each one, and gives you a complete evaluation afterwards. I hate public speaking, but she's truly helped me become more comfortable. TAKE HER!!

The class is mixed mode. We meet once a week & the rest is online. Even though the class has about 300 students, prof workman doesn't make it seem like we r just a number. She gives good examples during lectures. She likes her job and she wrote me a reference letter.

Mrs. Workman's class was very easy. Attendance is not mandatory, however she sometimes puts questions on the tests that she specifically mentioned in class, and that won't be from the book. The book is an easy read and the questions at the end of each chapter are what I used to study for her tests.

I had her for a 9am class, but I didn't mind waking up early because she always made us laugh, but always in relation to the topics we're discussing. She doesn't act above students like other professors. 1010.

Ms. Workman is a wonderful teacher. She's incredibly sweet and strives to make her lectures fun and worthwhile. There are plenty of quizzes and 3-4 tests. The book is essential, yet going to class might not be. I found her powerpoints to not be as helpful as taking the quizzes and studying. Either way, it's an easy class!

Really great class. She's really good at teaching. Quizzes every week are online so you can use the book and they aren't hard. Fantastic Teacher! There is 1 easy quiz every week, and 3 exams and an optional comprehensive exam at the end. She keeps her lectures interesting with real-life examples. They were super easy as long as you go to her office hours, listen in lectures, and read the textbook its impossible to fail. I wish she could teach all of my classes.

*Disclaimer: I took this class Spring 2015* Workman is a great professor! She was always happy to be in class and lecture. At times she did get off topic, talking about her son, hubby, & other things moms do (lol). But Workman is sweet and def. knows how to teach! You will leave with knowledge and an A in the class if you just show up & do the work

Tests and quizzes are online and although attendance isn't mandatory, her lectures are funny and contain answers that are on exams.

Workman is amazing! She's so nice and really cares about her students. She's very knowledgeable about her subject and teaches it well. It was an easy A as long as you show up to class, do the work and do well on your speeches.

Professor Workman is great at her job, lectures get a bit off topic, but she's occasionally funny and does manage to talk herself back around to the subject. Weekly quizzes online and 3 tests for the class with an optional final to replace your lowest grade. Quizzes on each chapter were before the lecture, so you have to stay on top of the reading.

Karisa Is an excellent COM1000 prof, she explains all concepts well and has good anecdotes for all of them. Her tests were all online open-notes, as were all of her quizzes. The book is not mandatory, but sometimes the questions were the exact same as the review at the end of each chapter (I caught on to that one pretty late). She's great, take her

Honestly as long as you have the book and actually read it there's no way you can fail. No homework. Quizzes and tests are all online. Attendance not mandatory but she'll sneak in questions about things she talked about during lecture in the quizzes and tests. Overall, interesting class and great professor.

I loved Prof. Workman. She is so nice and so funny and I enjoyed her lectures. You NEED the book. If you read the book and do all the assignments (not many at all) you are guaranteed to do well. I highly recommend her!

I wish every professor was more like Professor Workman. She makes college seem easy. All tests were online, and most of the answers can be found in the practice sections at the end of each chapter in the book. If you're taking a class and Workman is an option, choose her!

This was my favorite class of the semester by far. Prof. Workman made the most basic, once-a-week gen ed class a time I actually looked forward to. She's a greatly engaging speaker and one of the sweetest, most inclusive/open-minded people I've ever met. You can tell she cares about every single student, even if you never speak a word to her.

Easy class, very fun instructor. She was very nice and helpful and all of that good stuff, tells good stories etc.

Took this class during the summer and loved it. I'm absolutely terrified of giving speeches but professor Workman's enthusiasm helped! Made it a lot easier to present in front of people. Had 2 speeches, an informative and a persuasive one.

She's great! Very funny and engaging and likes to make lectures interesting. I feel like I didn't really learn a ton from the class, but it's meant to be easy and more about helping people overcome their fears of public speaking. You won't miss much if you skip the lectures, and I only opened the book to take the online exams. Easy A.

She's a great teacher for a class that no one really wants to take. She gives you advanced notice on assignments and there are only 2 speeches. She's super nice and as long as she see that you try she'll help you out. She wants the best for you and her lectures aren't painful. You do need the book for the tests but they're pretty easy.

The teacher cares. I learned more in this class than in any other class last semester.

The nicest individual you'll ever meet. Like seriously, it's terrifying. But she is smart, and she knows what she's doing. Attendance matters. Speech prep matters. Reading designated chapters for tests matters. She talks a lot, and sometimes off topic, but overall she makes you feel really comfortable in her class.

She's the sweetest lady you'll ever meet! She honestly cares about her students and is willing to do anything to help you succeed. Just show up on the day you're supposed to speak, read the book, and boom you got an A

What an amazing teacher. This is one of the best classes I have ever taken. I used to hate public speaking but now I am confident in producing and executing a speech. Mrs. Workman is very funny as well you will bound to laugh in at least one of the lectures if not all of them. Highly recommend. All exams/final are online and can take with friends.

Dr. Workman is awesome and she is super passionate about her field. Her lectures were always interesting. I recommend going to lecture since there were a few questions on the exams (only 3 exams all semester) that were based off of things she actually said during it. Overall great professor and so sweet. She'll answer any question you have.

Dr. Workman is a very nice and adorable lady. Shes a rule follower though, for sure. Just do what you need to do for her class and dont assume that her kind and bubbly personality means shes going to let you get away with things. Her lectures arent painful at all, though she does go off on a lot of tangents.

Overall this course is very simple. Theres only 3 exams (including the final) and only a few questions come from the lecture so its best to go. Dr. Workman is kind and knows a lot about the field as she always gives examples from past experiences; she does go off on a lot of tangents though! However the stories are usually funny. Take her!!

Workman is a good professor. The small classroom section was fun to be in and she did a good job explaining the things she wanted in her speech. Lots of mini assignments that help your grade too. Her large class section wasn't mandatory to attend and the tests were online and simple. If you have the textbook, you can easily get an A in the test.

Professor Workman is absolutely AMAZING! I have truly enjoyed her class. She is very sweet. I was terrified of public speaking, but she truly cares about her students and made it as easy as possible for us to present. She is also so kind and funny. I would definitely take her class again, and I wish I could take more with her!

This class was 3 days a week an hour a day. We met with professor Workman on Wednesdays and a TA on other days. She is super sweet but tends to really dumb things down. The class was super easy. Come to her lectures to pass her test and you will do fine.

Dr. Workman was a great Professor! Attendance is mandatory for the small class meetings, but not large class lectures. She is very clear about expectations for presentations, and the exams are pretty straight forward. Overall a very manageable if you need a more relaxed class to balance a heavy course load.

Professor Workman is a real gem. A sweet and caring woman who will always be there for you. The book is mandatory for the 3 online open book and note exams, which includes the final. 2 oral speeches, which she grades really lax. Pretty easy class. Just make sure you come to class every day since attendance is mandatory.

Professor Workman is the sweetest and most caring teacher at UCF. She is always willing to help and makes the speeches nothing to worry about. The only difficult part of this course was the online exams. Theyre deep in the textbook and get confusing, although they are open note and book. I would recommend her for any speech course !!

Professor Workman is so nice and grades fairly. I was terrified to take a public speaking class because I am horrible at speeches but she made the class enjoyable and not stressful. She responds to emails really quickly too, I highly recommend.

Professor Workman is extremely kind and gives great feedback. This class is really fairly organized around speeches and quizzes. Read the book, it helps a lot on quizzes. If you follow her rubric you will do great on speeches. She is also great with helping you fix grades or makeup things. She is great, take her class!

Prof. Workman is such a nice professor and always gives good feedback on speeches. I believe there were 4 or 5 mandatory speeches and there's one essay due at the end of the semester. She responds quickly to emails and is always easy to reach. The tests and quizzes are all open book, which really helps. I would def. recommend taking her!

Super nice, feels like she really cares about students and gives lots of feedback for speeches and there are only 4 to do the whole semester, very easy A with one group activity and quizzes very easy class and seems to be an easy grader for speeches would recommend her and this class if you have to take a communications class.

I love this professor with my whole heart! She was so sweet and understanding. Especially when I couldn't do a speech by the due date. This class is so easy! There are 3 or 4 speeches you will have to do and exams based on the chapters and notes. TAKE THE CLASS! Easy A

Such a gem. Clear expectations of what is wanted and it's not that much. 3 speeches (excluding an introductory speech to the class), a bunch of quizzes about the textbook, and 3 tests (not cumulative, just certain chapters) and it is open note! Such an easy course and such a great professor.

Amazing professor hands down. Super attentive and caring. I email alot because I overthink she never made me feel stupid infact she went above and beyond helping me on essays, outlines and answering any other questions. Take your time studying and you'll be fine in the class. About 2 quizzes every other week, about 3 essays, and 3 exams (depends).

Pretty average professor. The tests are open-book. You have to record a couple of different types of speeches throughout the semester. Overall not a bad class but it can get boring at times since it's very repetitive.

THE BEST. Professor Workman is worth every good review ever. She goes out of her way to make sure everyone is on tasks and never makes you feel stupid if you have a question. The textbook is needed for quizzes, they're super easy just dedicate sometime and you'll be golden. Easy class if you are organized & don't slack.

Textbook is needed for bi-weekly quizzes. 3 tests and 2 pre tests all easy. Notes are allowed on tests, good with feedback, quick with emails replies, and is understanding. I fought to get her class and I am glad I did.

I'm so bad at public speaking but she made it doable and was very nonjudgmental. She is a fair grader. The class is based around chapter quizzes that you take once and week, 2 major speeches, and intro/outro to the class speeches.

The class was well organized with lots of resources to help you with your speeches. There were several chapter quizzes plus 3 main speeches (and a simple introductory speech). Most of the speeches I did the day they were due or the day before and did fine. 3 exams (last one is final) with one dropped. Speech review paper at the end of the semester.

Prof Workman is very nice and is willing to meet over a web meeting to discuss any questions you have about the course or applications of speech outside the course (job interviews, etc). The class is easy to pass if you take notes on the textbook chapters and submit work on time. You have to buy a textbook, but it's cheaper online.

Professor Workman's course was great. The material is very accessible, the rubrics for speeches are super clear, and there is not any busy work. I highly recommend her and this course.

There were 3-4 speeches throughout the class with different guidelines and formats. Follow the rubrics and any feedback on outlines to get a very high grade. The MCQ quizzes and exams every week are focused on the textbook and slides provided. Professor Workman responds very quickly and is very kind.

The class is very well organized. The speeches (4 required) were doable she didn't grade harshly. be sure to follow the exact rubric/requirements. There's a MC quiz every week based on the textbook chapters and three cumulative exams. You're lowest 3 quizzes and lowest exam score is dropped. She also rounded if your final grade ends in .5 or higher

There were 3 exams based on the text and powerpoints but very easy. The quizzes on the chapters are also very easy. The speeches make up almost half of the grade but she makes the requirements very clear and is a nice grader, I never got lower than an A on any of them. The assignments she assigns are also pretty easy and can be done very quickly

Professor Workman was an amazing professor. Shes drops the lowest exam (counting the final) so getting an A was very easy. She is very understanding and will listen if you have any issues or concerns. I wish she could be my professor for all my courses!

take speech online!!! if you complete your assignments in full and on time then you will get a full A, i just got an A- cause i was slacking for some moments. not a super tough grader so don't stress about speech skills, you will get a better grade than you think!! interesting class to take and she is kind

Very organized online course with clear expectations of speeches. Open book quizzes/tests due to the online nature but the speeches are the bulk of your grade. Choose a topic you're passionate about and you will be fine, but set aside a at least a few hours to nail your delivery. Prof. Workman is extremely understanding and is always available.

Prof. Workman's speech class is well-organized with clear expectations. Speeches make up a big part of the grade, but the rubrics are detailed, and she's an understanding grader. The weekly quizzes and exams are manageable. Unstuck ai was super helpful for speech prep!

Weekly assignments were very easy and simple but it really did give you good tips. There's 4 speeches you must do: introduce yourself, persuasive speech, explanatory speech, and special occasion speech. As long as you do the work accordingly, you'll get an A. Assignments were an easy 100 and the exams were open notes. Lowest I got on one was an 85

only 3 speeches, don't need to show a presentation aid, very relaxed grader, very nice and caring. tests are no webcam and no lock down browser. would 100000% recommend taking this class with Professor Workman she was the best

Although I wasn't a fan of this course because of my extensive experience in public speaking (mainly geared towards people who struggle/ don't like public speaking), Professor Workman's class was great to take. Tests and assignments are simple and to the point. Usually did not take me a long time to dedicate to this class

Surprisingly not a lot of actual recorded speeches were done in the class, only 4. the rest of it is a couple tests that arent on lockdown browser and a final paper where you have to review your improvement throughout the course.
