Hes good. Very tough class, and it requires much time. Karl is a good instructor. He's very helpful, and loves his job.
Hardest class I've ever taken, but learned more in one semester than I have in my whole life. Too much info.
good teacher. I like him.
He knows his stuff and he teaches it all. He jokes allot and has a good student-teacher relationship. I liked him but he was very hard. He assigns a lot of work but gives you chances. He is always willing to work with you to help you pass.
The best teacher!!!!!! His tests are hard, but he helps you out a lot!!!!!!!! YOU HAVE TO TAKE HIM! Karl is probably the best teacher i have ever had in my life!
he tries to make everything easy for you by trying different methods of teaching and he is very funny and easy to communicate with.
great teacher. makes lots of jokes and is eager to help anyone having trouble. you can tell he loves his job and his enthusiasm will rub off on you
he is the most helpful teacher I have ever had but he is a tough grader
As long as you ask questions and atleast take a little bit of time to learn things you can easily pull off a B
no question the best teacher i have ever had. take him. class is tough but worth it. very helpful. great class.
Amazingly powerful teacher. He has come up with a lot of the methods he teachers and knows exactly how to teach students. I hated Chem until I started taking it with Abrams!
Simply THE MAN. He is the best, managing to make a dreaded subject wonderful. I wish I could have him for all my classes. I just love him to death. And, I'd love to go out with him!!!!!!!!!
HE IS THEEEE BESSSSTTTT ON EARTH. LUV HIM TO DEATH. just go to his review classes before tests and final and you will be fine on the test. Don't forget taking good notes
HE IS THE GOD OF CHEMISTRY LUV HIM
completely awesome and makes the subject of chemistry fun and visual
Awesome teacher.
He's ok. Nothing out of the ordinary. Easy teacher, clear lessons, boring subject though.
He's a great guy. Teaches very well but tests very well too. His tests are on EVERYTHING covered so make sure u go over all your notes. I think he's great and look forward to his class everyday.
i hated chem w/ a passion until i had this class. he is very helpful n made me look forward going to chem. he cares about his students n i just wish i had more teachers like him. BEST CHEM. TEACHER EVER!

Please take Abrams. After taking Chem 1B, I realized I did so well because of my strong foundation in chem 1A provided by the man, Mr. Abrams. Difficult class but he allows serious room for improvement. Used to hate chem and now I love it and I am majoring in Biochem. Awesome!

hard, funny and very interesting. answers questions in the most understandable manner. if you don't get chem under this guy you won't get it anywhere else.
He's a grate professor at Saddlaback college. He always helps you to solve problems. I mean he's super nice. However,he's such a killer when he grades the tests. I you don't get the right answer, you'll get half credit right away. Totally, he's awesome!!!!

His tests are really hard, he is pretty nice when it comes to partial credit. If you take his class, be sure to keep track of all your work and grades, because he is very very unorganized.
Great teacher very helpful , alittle scatter-brained but overall a great guy!
he is a nice guy and super helpful. he grades hard on his tests. he subtracts 1 point for wrong sig figs ..if your final answer is wrong you get half credit immediately...and if u ask him questions during a test, he drops enough hints for u to remember how to solve it..so i guess its a trade off
He's a nice guy and there's no question about his passion for chem, but his lack of organization kills me, it's makes it really difficult for me to focus or study for his tests.
I like P. Abrams teaching styl, but he is sometimes vague. Maybe I'm just bad at math. He really loves his work and is a great tutor/teacher. Take great notes and memorize all the equations. If you have a question ASK!!!
I really like his teaching style. Easy guy. A little sloppy but he knows his stuff well. He loves chem and also loves teaching. Will help if you ask. Take good notes. I never read a word from the book and got an A just by studying the notes.
this guy is the best teacher on the face of the earth, i am now an engineering major at uc berkeley and even here (at berkeley) i have not seen a teacher that comes close to this guys calibur in terms of teaching. he just makes it so easy. and if you have questions i guarantee you'll get it after his explanation. simply the best!!!
Awesome professor. Abrams really cares about his students and very willing to stay after class to go over material. He also teaches down to your level to help chemistry make sense. I would recommend taking him for chem 1A.
the best professor!!! if you don't get (understand) chemistry with this guy, you won't get it anywhere.
completely agree with the comment below
awesome teacher
spectacular professor
he is a good teacher but his test are so much harder than the examples he does in class it doenst make sence and he grades really hard but if u study alot u will prolly get a b and if can take professor wada for chem 3 everyony or atleast 90% got above a b or higher better than abrams class
Abrams will work you hard, but it's for your own benefit. He was a great professor, and I feel prepared to go on with the Chem series. He's always willing to help and is an all-around good guy. As long as you keep up with the material, the class isn't hard at all. He can be picky at times with work, but it isn't too bad. Overall, I recommend him.
One of the best at Saddleback!
He is so nice. And also he's very helpful, just get a good grade on one of his first tests and then he grades your tests easier than anybody else in the class.

great person, awesome professor
Cheating is a problem in his class. His tests are VERY VERY hard. He has really good ways of teaching, and the subject is hard. If you are serious about school, and have a good work ethic, there's no reason not to do well. Be a serious student, do homework and labs. STUDY. just like any other class. He's better than most UC Professors.
He is one of the best poeple I met in my entire life. He is a very kind and generous man. He definitly is a great teacher, and pretty funny too. He explains really well but his tests are pretty hard compared to what he shows in class. Final was much easier though. He also drops your worse test, so it is not too hard to get at least a B.
One of the best professors on campus - not to mention, he's also very attractive. He teaches very clearly! Just study, attend class, do the labs, ect.
One word: sensational. I'm currently in Chem 1B at UCI, and no professor there comes close to him. Whenever I have problems, he is always willing to help you out and spend time with you until it makes sense. It is challenging stuff, but he clearly explains everything so well you won't be lost. He's a great guy that wants the best for his students.
This class is hard! really hard, but he is the best teacher. He actually wants his students to do well. Just study your but off and good luck!
The best teacher i ever had. He wants you to learn and is very fair for what he expects out of you. Take him for any classes in chem you can.
I would easily say the best prof. I've ever had. He makes sure you understand the material, and helps if you ask questions, even during exams. requires chp. hw but its only worth 10pts. labs are basic. For any chemistry, take Abrams if you have the opportunity. Just make sure you study with a group, thats how i got an A
Abrams was a great teacher, he has a lot of enthusiam re:chem. Tests are extremely hard, each one took 3 hours and I am an A student who got a B in the class. Homework reqd.
This is a great class. It is though but it’s worth it. Professor Abrams is a great lecturer and will teach you tricks and methods that make the topic easier to understand. There is a lot of work to do in the summer session but you will be in great shape for 1A.
I was a high school kid taking his class so I found it kinda hard. Just do the homework, and you'll be fine. Nice dude though.
I ended up dropping this class because I didnt have the proper background for it. Take Chem 3 if you can first. Abrams is passionate about chem and really knows his stuff. He has helpful tips and good stories here and there. He likes history too. Entertaining but hard subject. Abrams is the man. I hope to take chem1a with him again when im prepared
Abrams is an awesome teacher. Super passionate about his subject. Very clear in delivering info and is always available. He's a very positive person and really creates a fun atmosphere in class.
Abrams is a great lecturer and makes the class entertainning. However, there is a LOT of work to do and the exams are very hard.
Favorite professor I have ever had. Makes things extremely clear and understandable. Really wants everyone to exceed and learn Chemistry and is very entertaining. Definitely take him if you have the chance.
Abrams is the best professor at saddleback college. He makes science not so boring and his methods are original and genius. Not to say he has written many books including the lab book for the class. Great guy best professor you can have SC.
Best Teacher EVER: this may help you more: you do about 1 chapter a week, the tests are 5 100 point exams and a final. He gives 3 nomenclature quizes and 3 other quizes and drops the lowest from each type. He gives a practice exam for the first test that is exactly like the exam which means u gotta get an A on it. I highly reccomond taking him
Best professor! I wish he taught Chem 1B.
Very knowledgeable teacher, but uses unorthodox methods of teaching. Lectures from the top of his head and can run off on tangents, comes up with his own version of how to do stoichiometry, but the kinks aren't worked out yet. His class was hard to follow. Tests and labs not turned back very timely.
Professor Abrams is very knowledgeable and puts together a great Chem course. By no means is it easy though and he's the first to tell you this. You will have to study quite a bit to pull off an A. I would also recommend having a recent semester of Chem3 before enrolling in his course.
Mr. Abrams is the MAN. His lectures do not always go in order w/ the text but he knows what he his doing with his order of teaching. He's extremely intelligent, and if you need help after class he is more than glad to help you during office hours (very easy to approach). Go to every class study!! take your time on labs and you might get an A.
Incredible Teacher. Makes people who don't like chem, love chem. Truly a great teacher.
Take this class, especially if it's a prerequisite and you have minimal interest in Chemistry. I took Chem 1A and thought 11 hours a week of one subject would be very dull, but he proved my assumptions false. He's extremely talented, helpful, and has a lot of interesting stories!
A little odd at first but a good teacher. He communicates well, and clearly outlines concepts that he will test on.
i love him
Karl was one of my favorite teachers ever. He loves chemistry and is really good at helping you out with problems. very unique teaching style that helps you remember it.
We need more Prof Like Karl Abrams. He knows his stuff. Best teacher so far!
Anyone who's ever written a negative review about Abrams they must have really not put forth any effort AT ALL. He's the best Chem prof. you'll ever have. It's a tough class but make SURE you do the packets (He started it last semester), they're pretty menacing but will save you come test day. Write down EVERYTHING he says/writes & you'll be fine!
Ok so I took Abrams a few years ago and today someone asked me which class did I enjoy the most in college, and I answered chem 1A. Everyone gasped and said CHEMISTRY!? And I said no not just any chemistry, Abrams made chemistry so interesting because he was so knowledgeable and passionate about it and his students. Hard class but you learn!
Mr. Abrams is amaing! he is one of my favorite professors now! lectures are very clear and he never uses notes or anything during lectures, he just goes off the top of his head, he is a genius, i am sad that this semester is ending, i want him to teach chem 1B. We all LOVE Mr.Abrams!!!!!!
Mr. Abrams is amazing!!!!! lectures are very clear and he never uses a book or notes during lecture, he goes off the top of his head, he is a genius!!! he is nice and helps soooo much if you ask. i am sad to leave him at the end of this sememster, he should teach chem 1B too. we all LOVE Mr.Abrams!!!!!
Do the packets or fail the tests. He's very good about taking the time to teach you outside of class if you didn't understand his lectures. You don't use the book very much you can just borrow it from the library. Take your time to do the labs right.
Fantastic Professor and I had him 10 years ago. Go to class and ask him for help when you need it. YOU should be able to get a B or higher by attending.
Professor Abrams does a tremendous job in keep the material entertaining. You immediately notice that he enjoys teaching and will take the time to help those who are confused. Although I received an A, the class was not easy. Try to create study groups and reviewing the material every day. : ]
If you are going to take this class, then make sure you have a lot of free time to study. His tests are very similar to the packets he gives you. He didn't go over the last two packets well, so I didn't know how to solve the problems. It helps to have a study-buddy. Labs are long and fun, but he's a bit of a picky grader on those.
He's extremely passionate about chemistry and it shows in the way he teaches. I don't suggest taking the class with the Physics 4A/B/C and Math 3A/B/C. You have to put in a large amount of time to do well, but it pays off in the end.
Professor Abrams RULES. He is one of the nicest professors you will ever have, hes one of those teachers you want to stay after and chat with after class, SUCH as nice guy. His class is like the military, you wont know what you got yourself into until half-way through the semester. Hardest class Ive ever taken in life, but I love it! Oh, and study!
Abrams wants you to learn and UNDERSTAND chemistry. He hates memorizing things, he would rather tell you a story so you understand it then memorizing. He loves what he does, and he is an absolute genius. He prepares you for the test, nothing on the test is something you havent seen before. Take him. One of the best professors I have ever had.
He is the most amazing teacher i ever had in 23 years. first of all, he is kind human being without any attitude. he explains the material so well that you will fall in love with chemistry. extremely helpful and will give you a lot of chances to get points in the class. i do recommend taking Chem 3 before taking chem 1A.
CHEMISTRY IS HARD No matter who you take. but this teacher is amazing! HE wants you to learn and if you try he will help you no matter what! This class is hard but if you try than you'll end up with an A. HE knows his material TOO WELL and loves teaching. He is saddleback's ALBERT EINSTEIN!!
If you want to take professor abrams class make sure yhat you have enough time to study. The class is hard but he is very helpful and clear. He is a fun teacher and make you laugh all the time.Best teacher everrrrrrrr luv ya Professor abrams...:)
He is awesome. He helps you understand and remember chemistry well.
fantastic teacher - great!!
I had Professor Abrams in 1997 and really enjoyed his class. Chemistry is tough so it was a struggle but Prof Abrams kept it lively and entertaining. Great real world examples that Ill never forget. And a great New Jersey like quote Do what ya oughta, add acid to wahta Passionate about chemistry and teaching his students.
Have fun!!
