Love his class. Tests are fair, and the class is interesting.
his class is very interesting...he likes to have fun in his own way. he's a very pleasant teacher and his tests really aren't too bad...take his class.
KARL MAIER ROCKS MY WORLD!! very nice and helpful. tests are multiple choice. love him!!
He tries so hard to be funny but no one laughs, I honostly think it is hilarious how he is so corny and I love it..He tries so hard and that is what makes him great. His class is pretty much just like any regular lecture. He is very nice too
Good teacher, pretty easy class
Pretty easy teacher. Yeah, he definately tries to be funny and doesn't succeed at it. He ends up laughing just himself, but he's a nice guy. The class is kinda boring, but not really hard.
the guy is not funny at all it is so great to sit in class and watch him just make himself look like an idiot, dosnt have an attendence policy so if going to class is a prob for u this guy is it, test suck so make sure u study, i wouldnt recomend him

Really nice guy, tries a little to hard to be funny, which ends up with himself as the only person laughing at his joke.
It is a regular lecture class, so take it with a friend so that you can make jokes about him to stay awake in class. Tests are multiple choice but you gotta read and listen to his lectures to understand and pass the test.
He can be boring, but psychology is always fun to learn about. You take notes, tests are based on what you wrote and "supposed" to read. Very reasonable teacher. Asks ?'s and nobody answers, it waste 10 mins of class. Jokes...just laugh. Gre
such an easy class to take...go to class take notes, 3 tests and one exam, that's it...all from notes, can be boring, but almost no work at all..he sticks to the point. Great teacher.
Straight forward class. Test are mostly from lecture, be familiar with information from text. Fair grader, Fair tests, good class to take
basic helping relations- hes a nice man but extremely boring class
Awesome teacher!!! Tests are easy and straight from the notes. Not too funny but makes the class interesting.
Straight forward kinda guy; likes to give notes from his powerpoints and then there is some reading you might need to do. Helpful if you ask him questions. Don't expect too much humor though, he isn't very funny, but he tries and that gets him some kudo points.
good teacher. very little work and little amount of studying for exams. TURN OF YOUR CELL PHONE
Great teacher!! need to study a bit for tests, but makes class interesting
Great teacher..he's straight and to the point with his lectures. He's kinda dorky but it's definitely ok, he also doesn't take attendance. All you do in there is take notes, 3 exams and a final...great teacher!!
He is awesome, very nice and makes learning fun, this was a great class as long as the people in your class are active too!
GREAT TEACHER! TAKE NOTES FROM POWERPOINT, WATCH VIDEO CLIPS, LOOK OVER AND READ PORTIONS OF THE BOOK THAT HE TELLS U TO LOOK FOR-NO PAPERS AND 3 MC TESTS. YOUNG GUY THAT WONT PUT YOU TO SLEEP. MAKES THE TOPIC UNDERSTANDABLE AND EVEN INTERESTING. WAIT A LIL WHILE THEN ANSWER THE QUEST. SWEET N FUNY
very easy class. it can get a little boring, but very nice guy. all you need is to take good notes and occassionally look up some stuff in the book.
nice guy, take good notes
His class was kinda easy. Ne never really covered much. We didnt really need the book b/c as long as you attened class regularly then you can use those notes for the exam. His doesnt really follow the course schedule for exam dates adnd does them when he gets to em. Not any homework except a like 15 page research paper.
very nice guy! took alot of notes in class, but they really helped out when studying for exams! 3 multiple choice tests and he throws out the worst of the 3 exam grades! made the class interesting!
He's alright, but I feel badly for him in our class nobody participated and it was always awkward. Psychology I think is suppose to be really interesting and he didn't make it that interesting, he's a nice guy but just kind of nerdy...
Abnormal Psych. HARD exams, tricky questions. Nerdy teacher, very unclear sometimes. My class didn't participate and he would wait 5 minutes or longer if he felt you SHOULD know the answer. Horrible powerpoints, too vague and brief. BORING, monotonous. No attendance policy. Didn't go over exams. Would recommend another teacher if possible.
My favorite teacher. He is so nice and he alwasy explains things well. If you don't understand just ask and he will go over it until you do. If you go to class and take notes the tests are easy. I highly recommend him.
The guy is BORING!!! His powerpoints are very vague and his tests are VERY VERY hard. Also, he does wait for ever for someone to answer a question, even if no one had raised their hands in the past 5 minutes. If no one answers, he will ask the crickets in thec lass (no lie). Luckily he did not get any response.
extremely nice teacher but has a voice that could put you to sleep within the first couple minutes of class... very hard multiple choice tests with tricky choices, no study guides, but he does drop your lowest test grade
Class was a breeze. He's very helpful and doesnt mind going over info. 3 tests, ones dropped and a final. I would def. recommend him.
great 101 teacher but do not take for abnormal psych the tests were soo hard and confusing not to mention really vague bad notes... deff have to read the text a lot if you want to do well in this class
Good teacher. He is a nice person and very helpfull when you ask. 3 test and the final and he drops the lowest grade. When studying for the test use your notes and your book because he asked things from both.Questions are kind of tricky but if you study both you will do better. He goes over the day before the test the key points to study. no essay
He is a very nice teacher and tries to help the students in every way possible. He was very understanding for personal circumstances and having to miss class. Others say his tests are very hard, but I've gotten all A's and B's, USE THE TESTS IN THE BACK OF THE BOOK! They are a savior, and he drops your lowest test grade.
Very nice guy. He's pretty funny and down-to-earth... a little nerdy, but in a good way- very knowledgable. Big pet peeves: Talking, Cell phones, and Lateness- he'll call you out . Doesn't take attendence, and drops lowest test grade! I read the chapters the night before the exams and got B's. Take good powerpoint notes and you'll be fine!
so boring.
He is funny and makes the subject interesting. His tests cover material lectured on in class as well as in the textbook.
Awesome & interesting class. Very helpful. Tests on mostly powerpoint stuff. I was able to get him as my advisor when I switched majors :)
Dr. Maier is awesome! He makes the class interesting and fun and never boring. He's a really nice guy to talk to outside of class. Doesn't grade too hard, exams aren't bad if you take good notes and read at least some of the textbook. Little writing involved. Definitely take him for a class if you get the chance!
Dr. Maier is awesome. He's really understanding and very easy to talk to. Test questions are pretty easy if you actually understand the concepts. Minimal writing assignments, but is a very fair grader on those anyway. Easy on the eyes
Best Teacher ever! He was easy, and I got a B without even trying. Explains things easily and his tests come from the power point and text. Not hard at all, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
is a nice professor and very funny but the exams are so tricky!!! so much to read too. If you are a person who likes to read alot and can remember everything then take him, if not then run which is wat i should have done
Good teacher, but likes to talk a lot. tests are so hard. have to study for days to get a good grade, but he does have some extra credit but it is rare. would recommend him.
Tries to make jokes but are bad. Hmwk is online. Read the book because powerpoint isn't enough. Rambles on a lot and sometimes doesn't connect the lesson.Overall, sucks!
Exams are hard but if you go in for help you can do well. I got and A an all of the exams because I went in for help a few times. Discussions are interesting and relevant. If are lazy then do not take him but if you like psychology and you want to learn to to have a challenge then take him.
i dont know why people keep saying his tests are so hard. i had him for 302 and 481. in both classes all i did was look over the notes and i always got A's and B's on the tests. i really enjoyed his classes.
He was a great teacher. But he didnt teach directly from the book which made it kind of hard at times but other than that it was a pretty easy class.
He teaches from his own notes, but you need to use the book in order to get A's on the test. He's increidlby smart, and you learn a lot from the class. The tests are neccesarily hard you just need to use your book, and notes from the class. He's a great teacher.
Good teacher. He's not overly difficult as long as you take notes and read the book.
I dont know why everyone is complaining about his powerpoints being vague, He tells you at the beginning of the semester that his powerpoints are only a starting point/overview for studying, he says dont just study whats on there, you have to take notes in class while hes talking and read the book. I would highly recommend him, awesome teacher.
LOVE him, he is the best. I read on here before taking the class that his exams were hard, but I found them just the opposite- never received lower than a 92 on anything. Just read the book and pay attention in class. GREAT TEACHER.
Great teacher! :)
Dr. Maier is awesome. I highly recommend. Do all the online activities and they will help you so much throughout the course
He is really nice and loves psychology. His powerpoints aren't helpful, so you have to read the textbook and take notes on your own. Overall, his tests are fairly easy.
He is just a great teaher!
Really cool guy, made the class pretty interesting with his awful jokes :) If you do all the online activities and use the book to study you will ace this class.
Easy class. Just have to study a good bit before tests. lectures are pretty boring, but i never even listened to him. I just read from the book in class and answered the questions from his study guide.
YOU NEED THE TEXTBOOK FOR THIS CLASS. There is also an online portion for homework which is easy as long as you remember to do it. He uses clicker questions for attendance and answers any questions you have in class. Mkae sure you study before tests because they are difficult if you dont know the material well. Very nice professor.
Great teacher. Class wasn't too bad. Tries his best to make it interesting. Overall, the class isn't too hard. You just have to do the online homework and study for the exams. But the material itself isn't too hard.
Made the class interesting. Test were difficult, had to read the book to pass test. Make sure you do homework and you should pass.
Great teacher, he made the class interesting and funny. There were simple assignments and straight forward exams. If yo read the textbook and go to class you will get an A.
His class is based on powerpoints and he loves doing polls on the clickers. He's very enthusiastic about psych and loves when you are the same. Loved his cheesy jokes! Class can be very boring but easy. Never had to write an essay. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Tests have 50 multiple choice questions. I recommend reading the chapters in the book. Also don't miss any online activities they're too easy to miss points on that could really boost your grade
Maier is the bomb. Sometimes his lectures are a little dry but most times he is pretty funny! Great guy and he is there when you need him! Don't forget to do the online assignments. They're very easy and easy points. He bases attendance on clicker questions and preparedness so read!!!
He babbles on about nothing for the whole entire class and you leave just as confused as you came. Do the online activities. Start studying a week before exams. Its a lot of information and its too much to cram the day before. His power points are not helpful.
Dr. Maier does not make his class as interesting as it could be. Basically just talks and doesn't explain the material well. He expects you to do 90% of your learning outside of class. Did not respond to any emails I sent him throughout the semester.
Very dry teaching. He forced discussion out of the class and there would be awkward silences. About 4 short papers, 4 tests. Not a bad class but I wouldn't take him again.
Lecture is super boring, lots of corny jokes. Ugh, make sure u do the online hw it gets you otherwise and read ahead for the clicker questions. His exams are sort of tough but, good online practice. Never responds to emails..
do not take him. His grading scale is hard to understand. He is incredibly borning in lecture and he does not curve although he does give extra credit oppurtunity. tests are very hard.
Let me start by saying that Professor Maier is a very nice guy. I did not however enjoy the class. Lectures are a tad boring and he spends 90% of the time trying to coax answers and examples out of people. Stresses that you should have become a master on the material before he "teaches" it, and the powerpoint are bare of info. Don't recommend.
I took him for psych 101, his lectures are kinda long but he takes role with the clicker and you do questions with the clicker. As long as you read the book and do the online stuff you should do fine on the tests.
Great psych professor, make sure you're reading and studying for every exam they won't be as easy as you think. Definitely do not miss any online assignments. Watch out for extra credit.
Great Teacher
Dr. Maier is an amazing professor. I haven't encountered a professor so caring towards his students like him, since attending SU. All of the exams were online, he gives great feedback, he pushes back assignments if he notices that people are having difficulty meeting the deadline. I can go on and on. I definitely recommend him!!!
Maier isn't a bad guy, but you've got to be ready to teach yourself, or come with a lot of notes. If you do it right, your notes will match up with what he's talking about, and the tests will be extremely easy. On the bright side, he's one of the few people who know how to use a point based grading system, and there's up to 20 extra credit points.
Boring lectures, must memorize a lot of terms in order to pass the exams.
One of the coolest guys at Salisbury. if you participate in class he will make sure you get a good grade and the class becomes a lot more fun when you engage in discussions
Maier is not the greatest professor because he expects you to teach yourself the material before even getting to class. However, his exams are very straight forward, he doesn't try to trick you at all which is really nice. As long as you do the homework and study, you'll be fine. Take your laptop to class to take notes bc he doesn't post them.
Online assignments are easy, and he tells you what to study for exams. Encourages discussion in lectures, and uses clicker points as participation. Really loved learning psychology. He made it enjoyable by giving funny examples. Would definitely take his again
His lectures were very long. He tended to focus too much on topics that were simple, instead of spending time on harder concepts. He is very nice and always willing to help you if you don't understand, but sometimes his lectures can be extremely boring and not cover everything it should.
Loved pysc 101 with dr. maier. He is really passionate about his lectures, is also willing to meet you before or after class to help you. Graded assignments are a lot but if you keep up with them you'll be fine. He does post slides, so GO TO CLASS!!!10/10 would recommend and would 100% take again!!
101 was the easiest class I've ever taken, but did require a lot of memorization. His lectures were very boring, dragging on forever. He is very knowledgeable about the topic, but will go into anecdotes unnecessarily, but is extremely caring and wants his students to do well. I strongly suggest using the online textbook to practice before exams.
I loved this professor. His lectures were great, he knew very well what he was talking about and could always relate it to everyday life. The tests are a bit difficult but so long as you study and read the text book youll be fine. There is a lot of reading/ homework for this course but all of it is very helpful in understanding the content.
Dr. Maier is one of the greatest professors that I have taken at SU. He is truly passionate about his field and passes on so much knowledge every lecture. Take his class if you have the chance!
Dr. Maier was a very easy going guy and always made you feel comfortable in lectures. He went out of his way to make sure that you could relate to the material and understand it well. Although the definite plus side to this class is every exam being online, they are very lengthy and you dont have very long for them. You will need a clicker!
The best professor I have had so far. If you take his class make sure you participate because he puts a lot into his lectures.
Good teacher but very boring lectures. I honestly did not enjoy this class. So many small assignments that begin to add up very fast.
Professor Maier is a very good teacher. He really helps you prepare for the exams. If you do your reading and homework you will be able to get a good grade. You use clickers in class and that also effects your grade. Exams aren't worth 100% of your grade. He's very funny and makes the class interesting. He also allows extra credit assignments.
Super nice teacher always cares about how the students are doing and feeling, class can get a little boring at times but he puts lots of effort into his lectures, lots of extra credit is offered throughout the semester, and exams are super easy
Not only does he give amazing lectures, he is an extremely caring man who offers resources for mental health around campus. The class is easy if you study, and he gives great feedback and several extra credit opportunities.
Professor Maier is great. His lectures are amazing, you can tell he puts effort into making them and he tries to make class fun. He also cares about his students and provides different resources. If you don't understand something you can ask questions and he is willing to explain it. He also tries to make class as easy as possible. 100% recommend.
You definitely have to work and study for your grade as it is a lot of material but he makes it easy and simple and explains the topics thoroughly. Amazing professor for a difficult class like this.
He is such a nice man with so much valuable knowledge. Although my major is not related to psychology, I still found the class interesting and learned a lot. He puts a lot of effort into his lectures and is also very funny.
Cool person with some great corny dad jokes. Online assignments with launchpad are very easy and help pad your grade, not a very hard class. His lectures can be a little bit dry, but he's a nice guy. Maybe others had better luck, but he didn't reply to my emails. He's very easy to talk to after class though. I recommend him
first, for being an incoming freshmen it'll be an easy class, he is very friendly and tries to make the class a very laid back environment. all you have to do is show up 2 minutes before class starts, answer the questions on the board correctly, complete all the assignments on TIME, and exams are all open notes.
Created a laidback classroom environment and encouraged everyone to participate. Grade is based off of small launchpad assignments, as long as you read them it'll cushion your grade greatly, and exams. Some exam content isn't really covered in lecture so be sure to read the material. Very interesting textbook. Highly recommend Dr. Maier
Dr. Maier is eh. He is extremely boring to listen to, but he seems like a nice guy and will crack some jokes. He. Will. Never. Answer. Your. Email!! His tests are easy. He also posts like 7 assignments you have to do before each class, but they're easy.
Take Dr. Maier if you want an easy A in PSYC101. Lectures can be dry at times. He gives a lot of homework but most of it is a completion grade. Exams are online and are open note, open book. He does in classes iclicker questions that count towards your grade.
Prof. Maier held one of the easiest lectures I've taken so far. He's extremely open minded to everyone's opinions and tries his absolute best for everyone to get involved. 100% of homework and exams were online. Such a great professor!
Dr. Maier is one of the best professors I have had so far. All the exams are online. Lectures are so easy. Lectures can be boring but he try's to make it fun. I would definitely recommend taking his class.
Nice guy, but lectures can get boring. The textbook is online, if you read it the class is pretty easy. He uses Iclicker for attendance and participation. The actual assignments are easy.
Although personal issues prevented him from attending most of the semester, he definitely made an effort to contribute to the class and attend. His grading is slightly tough for assignments, but he was accessible and would provide applicable feedback that really came in handy when writing the final paper. Would recommend.
Dr. Maier is a very nice person, but a horrible professor. He attended maybe 4-6 of our M/W classes over the course of the entire semester. He doesn't answer his email and is very hard to reach outside of class. He's a tough grader and strict about attendance (he does not offer ANY excused absences), which is ironic because he's never there.
Professor Maier is the best professor by far that I have had, the leaves great feedback on discussion post, and he post recorded overviews of topics. There is no way that you shouldn't get an A in this course. He also offers easy extra credit.
Had this professor online with psyc 101 and he was great, he graded things quickly and always sent out emails/updates on what was going on, even in an online class. I always knew my grade and what was coming up. Highly recommend.
I was so excited to take this class, but sadly I hated it. Class was so boring. It is really easy to pass the class as along as you show up. The discussions are easy too. The professor is boring most lectures and he will ask you to "be here" meaning shut your laptops. As long as you take some notes you'll be fine on the tests.
I was so excited to take psych this year, but I was extremely disappointed. I hated this class, I never wanted to show up. Your attendance is graded, there are a few homework assignments due before each class. The exams are pretty simple as long as you take notes. I would study the night before and I was fine.
