This will be the easiest professor you will ever have at queens college. Just show up for the review and you will pass this class. Take him
Great professor easy grade
great prof. really funny guy. smart. easy test.
Prof Mitchell is pretty easy. If you show up for the reviews, use the reviews to study for the tests, and do the aplia assignments you should be fine. Definitely not the hardest of teachers.
Super easy. His test are simple he give bonus points. He throws curve on the grades. It is possible to score a 125% on your grade rather than a 100%. He is funny as well.
Easiest anything ever. I put in zero effort for this class, and my final number grade was 101.
He is very straight-forward with the material and powerpoint lectures it. Read the textbook and you will be fine. Attendance never seemed to be an issue. He is actually a very funny guy and also pretty brilliant when it comes to economics.
Professor Mitchell is the best of the very best. He is amazing, you will def. love his class. Very interesting slideshows. The best!
He is a great professor. Gave us writing assignments and nip-picks on small details like format. As long as you follow instructions you should get a good grade. You learn how to write a formal report in this class. 1 midterm, 1 final, and a final presentation. You have to buy the text book for this class.
What a joke his class is so easy but u learn nothing if u need a w or need it for ur major take him if not ur going to want to kill yourself after u finish his class. he makes you do a report and he only looks at the format he dosent read any of the content at all.
Well, he was incredibly easy. Like, ridiculously easy. If you feel like doing only about a week worth of work during the semester, just go to him. Be weary though, it's a group class, so if you eff up, your team will be pissed at you. But it's really hard to. He gave me a perfect score on the final and I barely showed up. Easy A
although he is pretty easy.. he is not so clear. BEWARE, when you give in ur papers, correct everything and keep checking it over. b/c even though he says it looks good on ur drafts, he can mess you up on ur final. so just make sure you check everything for the final be perfect!
Two exams total. T and F and multiple choice questions. He bring guess speakers to almost all the classes which is cool. Take him!
I love this class.
Take this professor! Very easy class, just a midterm and a final, as well as a group presentation. It's basically a writing class with barely any writing. You will actually learn a lot though. Take him! You'll be glad you did.
This professor is very hard to please. He's very ambiguous in terms of what he wants from his student. In addition, he is very "nitty gritty" when it comes to details (format, punctuation, etc.) and doesn't grade students based on the paper's/presentation's content. I did not learn anything from this class. He's very unprofessional if you ask me.
2 exams & group work that include a 4pg proposal, 11pg report & 30 slides powerpoint presentation. Easy A if you pass the tests & receive a good grade on group work. Mainly criticize works on appearance base on little stuff such as missing period or misplace comma. You won't learn much from him & there are many writing.
Where do I even begin.. I dont know what possessed these previous students to leave GREAT feedback for this professor. All of those comments are misleading. He is a VERY picky grader. He's very presumptuous as well. The midtermfinal have absolutely nothing to do with what is covered in class. One group project & presentation. PLEASE AVOID
Definitely don't recommend. Only took him for 160w credit. He's sadly the only one that teaches this course.. so you'll be forced to take him. He is extremely picky about his grading. One group project and presentation at the end of the semester that in total accredits to the W aspect of this class. Midterm and final. Class is easy but stressful
this is the most ridiculous professor i had to deal with. Once he opens his mouth you'll realize that he picked the wrong profession. he reads straight from the slides but when students do so during their presentations, he doesn't like it.
Poor grader, try at humor is sporatic, the thing that threw me over the top for this is the final project. He took off 50 points for not citing sources 100% properly, we had citation just not great. Should have been an easy A buy his sporadic grading can screw u over also he gives extra credit which only works if u can attend lectures outside of cl
Dont waste your time reading the book, he will just tell what sections are on the test- prepare it then He focuses more on formatting rather than content so make sure to do the same - copy the book Easy Grader, Easy A, But its a stressful and annoying process. on the 1st day sit 5 seats away from someone u want in your group
Not a great professor he just shows toutube clips and reads right from the slides i would say to avoid but he is the only one who teaches the course
Terrible professor, pointless class. He doesn't shut up! He talked throughout the midterm, the final, and the group meeting time. Class is boring, he reads straight from the slides and then gives quizzes. Paper is graded more on format than substance, just follow the format in the textbook, you'll be fine. Ppt can be bad, just don't read from it
Doesnt give you the grade u deserve. No point in going to this class bc if u r team leader +3 to final grade n at the end of the semester when ppl give there ppt just ask 27 questions bc each 1 is +3 to ur FINAL grade n u will get an A. If u rnt team leader or ask questions u cant get higher then a B. soo good luck
I'm so glad I met Prof. Mitchell for myself. These ratings had me so scared. Just follow his instructions for the paper and group project and you'll be fine! Definitely do your In-text citations and references just like the book to receive full credit. Easy A!
Easy A, if you struggled in his class then your going to seriously fail in Queens College. You literally show up to class, listen go home take his exams which are really easy. Do his project and your done.
gives "manageable" assignments. the materials in this class is not difficult at all. if you can't get an A in this class, good luck surviving queens college. keep up the great work karl!
The whole class was pretty much based on a research paper. It's not a tough class, but rather a useless one when taking Professor Mitchel. He reads off slides, gives us quiz questions one by one and for about 3-4 classes. Terrible sense of humor. Research paper due on the day of final (10-12pgs) mostly graded on how well you cited using APA -_-.
Yesterday, I took Professor Mitchell's final exam. It's an easy class if you do the work: Blackboard assignments, quizzes, 2 exams, a research paper and a presentation. I told 3 of my friends to take him. He watches for plagiarism. Don't worry! He meticulously teaches you how to cite effectively. I very much enjoy the peer reviews. His humor is OK!
Terrible professor... Be careful, he is extremely meticulous about citations. If anything, you will learn how to properly cite an academic paper using APA. But not because of the professor but because of the textbook. Also, be prepared to witness one of the most disgusting handwriting on earth.
If you're looking to take this class, I'll break down the 1 hour class for you - First 20 mins, you simply talk about what's going on with the world and then, next 40 mins, listen to the professor read the PowerPoint word for word. The entire class is just based around the group project and a 15 page paper, the other things don't matter tbh.
Its an easy class, most of the students got A+. Don't stress about the research paper. He doesn't even read the content he just grades on how well you cite. The exams are not that hard either.
Extremely easy class. Don't need to pay attention in class and you can still get A. You just need to know what to say in the group project. The research paper is based on your correctness of the page layout, citation, and citation page.
More than half of the class doesn't show up and i don't think i need to say anymore.
My friends told me to take Prof. Mitchell's class and I'm glad I did.... I appreciate that he makes himself readily accessible outside of class to students. Is class is very early in the morning but he motivates me to come to class.
An eye-opening professor. Pay attention in class, read the chapters, follow the research paper guidelines EXACTLY the way it is through the textbook. Exams are not difficult. Everything given to him is critiqued on the rubrics he gives. FOLLOW RUBRICS and you will pass!!
His class is not difficult but he pays great attention to details.
too bad this is the only professor for this class available at this school.
this was a hard class, but my experience was a positive one. theres a group presentation and a really long paper due towards the end of the class. the only exams are a midterm and a final, both of which are hard. the professor does a great job teaching and i learned alot about writing beyond what i learned in english
VERY BAD! He does teach anything, such a waste of time. I wish there is another professor who teaches this course.
Quizzes are done in a unique way. If you do not show up for the quiz you basically got the question wrong. You work on one group project the entire semester. He tells you what to study for. For the midterm and final, the format is mixed.
Teaches you the structure of business writing. You will end up writing a 10 page research paper. Do the work, write something and you can get an A. Make sure he knows you, if he don't know you expect to get like a C. Chill guy.
Professor Mitchell was amazing ! He helped the class understand the fundamentals of business writing; apart from that he helped me grow professionally by helping me communicate effectively and efficiently through all sources of communication. His grading criteria is very clear. If you follow his grading rubric, there is no reason anyone should fail
Any rating that says anything other than, he was and is the best Professor, is tremendously wrong! Professor Mitchell cares for each and every student and takes his time to help every student! For those who plan to take this class, please ignore the review prior to mine. Some students dont know how to appreciate all that a caring professor does!
Professor Mitchell is a gem, to say the least; Professor Mitchell is caring, professional, knowledgeable, helpful, understanding, accessible, hilarious and on.... Furthermore, Professor Mitchell arranged for an awesome lecture series that I really enjoyed and learned from. MUST TAKE, just simply respect the professor as you would respect anyone!
Super nice. he is very conversational, tries to encourage us to network ourselves. He breaks down how to write papers. Probably 1 quiz, 1 test easy if you reviewed, similar to the final. 1 research paper and assigned a group # to present. Class votes. Not a tough grader, if you show yourself, try, and attend class youll be fine.
Great professor. Grade is based on midterm, final, blackboard assignments, group presentation, and research paper. Make sure all your citations are correct on the paper and you'll get a good grade. Midterm and final are fairly straightforward. He gives a lot of extra credit as well. Overall, a great experience especially if you like writing.
Professor Mitchell is one interesting person. Personally I found him to be a really good guy, but definitely not a good instructor. I can truly say I did not learning any new skill while being in this class and for lectures he just goes through the textbooks power-points which are EXTREMELY boring. Sadly he is the only professor for this class. GL
In my 2 years of knowing Professor Mitchell, he has been an intelligent, charismatic, and caring professional that goes above and beyond for his students. Contrary to curriculum that can be taught repetitively mundane by most he alludes to promoting social intelligence while teaching worldwide knowledge and awareness. Glad to have had him!
Likes to talk, not a great professor as far as organizing the class and standardized grading. However he is an honest and good man who cares about his students and will work with you.
An 8-page syllabus which includes a research paper rubric and clear grading criteria for the course's final grade. If you are an organized student and put in the work you will do very well. I used my graded research paper's final draft and oral presentation, from his class, in a successful job interview. Prof. even gave me a mock interview, too!
He is not a good professor.
Honestly he is the most caring professor I ever had. Not only is the work easy, but all you need to do is get the format right. For the presentation, the format is key on getting a good grade. Make sure you have the citation correct (especially in text citation) and work cited. Highly approve of this processor!
He just rambles in class and gets distracted VERY easily. Lectures consists of speed talking through the slides and asking irrelevant questions. Lots of BB assignments (easy), 10 page paper double spaced, and a group presentation. Syllabus, instructions, grading criteria, and what is expected from assignments is incoherent. Such a phony class.
He gets very distracted and makes uncomfortable comments about and to students. class isn't too hard as long as you learn to deal with his disorganization.
He is worst professors I ever seen. Ask question which is not related to subject matter and blackboard is so mess. class is easy if there is another professor. unfortunately he is only one for BUS160W . QC should hire another professor for BUS160W if they care for student.
Rather disorganized. Lots of extra credit available for doing stuff outside of class. It feels like he's marketing himself at times to be honest, which is a little weird but whatever. If you have a solid grasp of English and writing already, you'll have an easy time. If not, take advantage of paper revisions. To be frank, you won't learn much.
The class is easy. Ask questions, make sure to follow the pattern and style he specifies and you will be fine. Professor Mitchell is also very accessible outside of class. Genuinely nice guy. Take him.
The worst professor in the Queens College. Unfortunately Queens College do not even have another professor for BUS 160W.
He is really brutal when it comes to grading, but he gives you an opportunity to do a first and final draft so theres no reason you shouldn't get a perfect score. He does workshops which are basically free tutoring, which is great because the writing center is too general and not professor specific. Theres really no excuse to do bad in this class.
He has so many specifications for what he wants on your papers and presentations but somehow is never able to explain what he wants. for example, he wants apa style citations, but even after a 2nd draft and many questions asked, he doesn't clearly explain what we're doing wrong and you continue to get 0's! very frustrating.
Professor Karl really helpful. Even if you do bad at the beginning just try to follow all the feedback that he will give you. Read the chapters he mentions to read. And if you have questions just stay in the office hours he will explain it to you. Then you will be fine.
Best professor at QC. Gives you solid grasps of writing technique.
The class is easy. Ask questions, make sure to follow the pattern and style he specifies and you will be fine. Professor Mitchell is also very accessible outside of class. Genuinely nice guy. Take him. He is the best
Professor Mitchell is a gem. He is a tough grader with papers but he does it because he actually cares about how the students do. Gives you a lot opportunities for extra credit. If you pay attention and participate you will do great in this class. You can contact prof at almost any time and he will give you a quick genuine response.
Prof. Mitchell is one of the best professor in QC. He is very caring for his students. Always giving them extra-credit opportunities and professional guidances. He is a tough grader with papers but he does it because he wants students to improve their writing skills. Follow the rules he specifies in class and you will be fine. I'm glad to take him!
He one of the few professors in qc that actually puts in effort in teaching. He makes it interesting and wants to know that you it , thats why the exams are essay questions. Its not an easy class though you have study a lot and that can be difficult if you have other difficult classes.
Professor Mitchell is nice guy. I just wouldn't have him as professor ever. Every week there is a quiz. You have random pop quizzes once every week(at a point it was every class). Unless you have no choice, DON'T TAKE HIM!!
Professor gives midterm, final, 3 papers 4pgs each, BB assignments every week, group project, the list goes on. He grades each paper very strict and is very sloppy when he grades them. Gives many EC opportunities to boost your grade but overall tough class that requires a lot of work. QC should have more professors that teach BUS 160W.
Best prof in the econ department really cares about his students.
great teacher, would take again
If you want an easy A I suggest taking professor Mitchell. He gives a lot of opportunities and he is a nice guy inside and outside of class. He appreciates feedback and makes the environment comfortable.
Honestly the best Professor at Queens College. Always respects every student's opinion and everything he does has a reason. Will be 100% truthful with you on essays but it has its purpose. Always brings his lecture examples into current useful events. He actually teaches current events and gets the WHOLE class involved.
He gives you every opportunity to succeed with two chances for papers and loads of extra credit, but there is a lot of work involved. It pays to be active in the class. It's not that bad.
Great professor. Attendance isn't mandatory. Didn't show up to a single class lecture and just did the homework. If you do the homework you will get a base understanding of the material. His tests are exactly a carbon copy of the review questions he gives in the two lectures before the test day just with different numbers. Easy A with Mitchell.
Best professor at Queens College. Really cares about his students. Makes class very entertaining.
Best professor at QC. This course has a lot of work. However, its easy if you actually just take it a little serious. He gives you two chances and excellent revisions on the 3 papers so you should get a good grade on all 3. The group project is really easy you only need to have pictures in the slides. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities.
Don't take this professor unless you hate yourself.
Very thoughtful and engaging professor, always took time to make sure that we understood the material. Lots of extra credit opportunities for you. Put in work and make sure you secure your grade
Pop quizzes, 3 research papers (Harsh grading), weekly quizzes (straight from the textbook), group project at the end, and LOADS of extra credit. Honestly, go to all the events he offers extra credit for and you'll do well. You do have to give a takeaway after each event which is talking about the event for up to a minute.
Provides great advice on how to jumpstart professional careers for students
Tough grader, needs to do lot of homework.
Professor Mitchell is the best professor at Queens College. I have not had a professor who goes out of their way to maximize a student's learning and final grade. He still advises me beyond his class. I am happy to listen to three friends who highly recommended I take his class. I had now taken two courses with him and earned an A+.
Only gives Surface info lets you figure out stuff on your own. Worse.
This professor individually meets with you at each step of of the way for each paper. You get a second chance to do over each paper. He hosts both online and in-person writing workshops outsideof class. His writing workshops, second chances and extra credit got me my A+. He is a diamond - the best. Take him!
Professor Mitchell is an outstanding professor that truly cares for his students well being. Attendance isn't mandatory, he's always available during office hours, and he will go out of his way to help if needed. Research papers allows 2 attempts. Midterm and Final worth 25% each but his reviews before exams go a long way-don't miss them!
Professor Mitchell is great, the workload is fair, 3 papers, 4pgs each, and 2 attempts (10% each), a midterm and final worth 25% each, a project, a two page essay, quizzes on BB, and in person, worth 5% each, look out for extra credit points. The class seems overbearing at first, but talk to him, understand what is expected, and its a manageable A.
Overall ok. Very tough grader, gives 2nd chance for every paper though. But really half-way feedback. Wastes a lot of time taking about off topic. Takes 30 min to do a 5 min job.
Professor Karl Mitchell is truly an inspiration to all his students. His lectures are easy to understand. He gives a detailed introduction of syllabus. His extra credit opportunity makes it easier to get an A .He gives attention to each student individually . Make sure to read syllabus and attend his classes. Highly recommended!
Professor Mitchell is not only a teacher but he's also an idol for those who want to succeed in Business Field. Lecture's are really interesting and easy to understand. Even though attendance in not mandatory but your Presence matters. He appreciates and also give extra credit for extra work. I would highly recommend Professor Mitchell.
Prof Mitchell consistently displays a dedication and commitment to student success in and outside of the classroom. His class highlights the importance of grammatical accuracy and the art of drafting, skills that are invaluable in any professional environment. Taking this class was by far one of the best academic choices I made at QC.
Professor Karl A. Mitchell is an exceptional educator, blending clarity with approachability. His support extends beyond lectures, aiding students in tackling assignments. With a respectful and helpful demeanor, he fosters a welcoming class environment, making learning a truly pleasant experience.
There's no other profs for 160w, so just be prepared. Prof Mitchell assigns 3 research papers with 2 drafts, in class pop quizzes, out of class hours extra credit events, group project, midterm, final, and other random homework assignments. He doesn't grade his own papers so feedback isn't great either. Would not take again if given the choice.
Prof. Mitchell is the greatest professor! The class is an easy "A" if you put in the work. I have taken three different courses with him now.
Hes great 5/5! He wants nothing but success for students. He gives lot of extra credit opportunities. its easy free points increasing ur grade. Hes an extremely nice guy and a casual dude. def would take his class. any assignment he gives is really worth doing. Like he wants u to make a resume. everyones gotta do that eventually. cares for student
It was the most entertaining class I've ever had at QC. Professor Mitchell makes the whole class laugh every day. There are a lot of very small assignments in this class that make up your grade but are super easy if you follow the directions. There are tons of extra credit opportunities that you should take advantage of. Beware of red sonya though!
Intensive writing course, 3 research papers throughout the semester. His lectures are repetitive about proper citations and writing tips, and he does get off topic often. Not sure why this was an in person class. Group presentation at the end of semester, wear business attire. Lots of extra credit opportunities outside of class.
He is a great professor. He want every student success. He helped a lot. At the same time, he is really a tough grader. If you are in the group project with slackers, it will be hashed. Midterm and Finals, you need to prepare 6-8 chapters per each. btw, do as much as extra credits chances you can. It can save your grade!!!
This professor's teaching style is disorganized, often jumping between topics and providing unclear instructions. Rather than explaining assignments, he directs students to ask their group members. Lectures feel unstructured, and communication is inconsistent, with late-night emails confusing. consider alternative options for this course.
This is an Intensive Writing Course; therefore, he assigns research papers. He gives out many extra credit opportunities to students. As long as you follow the syllabus, everything is clear. If you need an explanation beyond that, the professor will provide it. The skills the class offers go beyond this specific course and into business.
He really cares for all his students. Actually, I am a shy and introvert student, so I don't know how to put myself in social events. He pulled me out from my shell and introduced me to some events. However, I have to admit he is a harsh grader.
Take advantage of extra credit opportunities. He gives many extra credit opportunities that can help toward your grade but also helps you learn. Work hard and put effort into group projects and the homework assignments. If I can get an A+ you can too.
Prof. Karl Mitchell is the best I've had. As someone whose first (and not even second) language is English, I found his class clear, fair, and inspiring. He made real-world writing skills easy to learn and even connected us with top business figures. The only class I never dared to skip. If you see a spot open, take it — the class fills fast! 🏆
Professor Karl is the best professor to take, be ready to learn and have an amazing semester with one of the best teachers on campus.
Hands-down one of the BEST professors I've ever had. He genuinely cares about his students and go above and beyond to make sure everyone understands the material. Lectures are engaging, organized, and filled with real-world examples that make learning interesting and fun. Incredibly approachable and always makes time for students.
Professor Karl is an engaging lecturer who truly connects with students. The class is writing intensive, with group work and deadlines to manage, but it's manageable if you stay on track. His office hours are incredibly helpful as he offers clear feedback on any assignment. There is also extra credit opportunities to boost your final grade.
Professor Karl Mitchell is hands down the best professor in the Queens College Business program! He's inspirational, energetic, and truly cares about his students beyond the classroom. He encourages career event participation and fosters a positive environment that promotes student growth and connection. He prepares students for real life.
Professor Mitchell is the goat. He truly cares about his students academic success. His classes were always very insightful and it was a pleasure to take his class. There's no one better than him at QC.
Prof. Mitchell gives earned extra credit. Yes, I got an A+ but I worked hard for it. I got nervous on some of my early assignments. The grading was severe. I learned a lot. I am using what I learned in my day-to-day at work. To do well in his class, you have to show attention to detail - be meticulous. By the way, wait until you meet Red Sonja!
Literally sitting in this class and I'm brain rotting. Tons of extra credit but there's zero learning and he has the attention span of a pigeon. Sitting here for 15 minutes while he calling tech support. Distract him with whatever and you'll get an easy A like reviews say. Week 1 and I already have 7 extra credit points to my final grade....
I had an amazing experience with Professor Mitchell. He really cares about the well being of his students and gives clear instructions on what he expects. I would recommend his class for anyone taking Business. Overall a wonderful experience with a genuine professor who really cares about his students.
Took professor for Spring 2025. He a true legend...literally gives extra credit opportunities in abundance so take advantage of them. Truly cares about your work ethic which ultimately reflects how you will do in the real world. If your active and truly care about business you can literally get a job through his connects just saying. Overall GOAT!
Tough grader.
Last semester, I thoroughly enjoyed Prof. Mitchell's class. However, I find him to be too lenient and kind-hearted. He bends over backward to help his students succeed. Prof. Mitchell's motto is not about "If the patient doesn't care, the doctor doesn't care." He is the type who commits resources looking for that one lost sheep.
Great professor. Makes class always something to look forward to. Always makes sure to fully breakdown what he was looking for in assignments. Take advantage of the star credit.
Genuinely the most unique class I've ever taken. Professor is very fair and engaging. He goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is passing the class. As long as you keep a good attendance and listen to what he asks of you this class is not hard to pass
Professor Karl Mitchell is truly amazing one of the best professors I have had.He is respectful toward his students and was fair throughout the entire semester. The class was easy to pass with an excellent grade as long as you completed all the required work.He also provided plenty of opportunities to earn extra credit, which made the semester easy.
