Mr. Hennebach was a good professor. KRS 353 is difficult because it is a lot of memorization but Karl made it interesting and was very helpful with what to expect on the quizzes. He created a lot of extra credit opportunities for the class which helped where needed.
Get ready to study and memorize for countless hours, you CANNOT slack, or it will show on quizzes and exams. Quizzes are written and exams are half online (visible body) and half in-person. Doesn't offer much extra credit and some material may not be covered in class. Exam-written portions are quite tough.
Understanding and pretty lenient with certain grading. Very helpful in explaining things more in detail when asked. Overall, really good teacher.
He is a great professor but get ready to study a lot.
Great Professor
You can learn swimming
Attendance isn't mandatory but if you only attend for quizzes or exams you miss out on things like extra credit, review sessions, and class activities (that are on exams). Stay the whole period during exams, he explains the questions better the longer you stay. Performing well in this class depends on your commitment to memorizing the content.
Karl has been awesome and demonstrates his knowledge and passion. He is very open and flexible when it comes to grading and cares about his students and the work they are putting out. I had family issues that caused me to miss a class, I let him know and he gave me extensions and let me retake the quiz. He is an awesome teacher!
There is no homework, however there are quizzes every week for the material learned the week prior and lab activities due. The lectures slides are note style, fill in the blanks and taught fast with a lot of information through out the week. Karl does provide a key for any notes from the lecture that you missed and can use to study.
Karl uses outside sources that assist the students with learning (Youtube and personal stories). Karl does his best to make the information compact and easier to learn. This is a difficult class and the student does need to spend time outside of class learning the material. Overall, I would take this class again.
He is very kind and easy grader
Karl was super fun to have in KRS-103. I really enjoyed the class and karl did everything to make it fun and interactive. At the end of the course we played lots of water polo. 10/10 would recommend taking this class with Karl.
This class is heavy on memorization and there are quizzes almost every week. I would take this class in person because he is a little nicer with the grading and he is very knowledgeable so you can ask him questions during class.
Karl struggles with pronouncing the names of different muscles which makes it harder for students to comprehend the information. Also, the class can be difficult if you don't ask Karl questions. He will not go up to you and ask if you understand the information unless you actually tell him that you need help.
It's definitely a tough course, but Karl gives you all the information you need to do well. I remember only one trick question was given and the class was taken aback by it as this was not a usual occurrence in the class by any means. Overall, I would recommend the course. Just be prepared to spend time reviewing and studying the material.
Karl is very knowledgable and does a great job at teaching. Although attendance is not mandatory, it is important to attend lectures because it is very content heavy. Hearing Karl talk about concepts in detail and in person will help with the weekly quizzes that you will have. Karl gave extra credit opportunities at the end which helps a lot!
This class does have a good amount of projects and assignments but instructions are explained well and detailed rubrics are given.
This is a tough class but is mandatory for KRS majors. Karl really does want to help you but the course in general requires a lot of hours to understand the material. Rough exams!
Swim Class was awesome make sure to show up
This class has lots of homework and projects, but the grading criteria are clear. Make sure to show up to every class since participation is a big part of the grade. The professor gives exactly what you need to do well in this course.
Karl is a good professor who provides clear guidance on how to do well on assignments. Expect a substantial amount of writing, so staying organized and keeping up with your workload is crucial for success in the course.
I think Karl was a great teacher for such a difficult class. Karl was very kind enough to offer extra credit opportunities and did his best to make it easier learning complex topics. At times it was a little hard to understand him because of his accent, but I think he did a great job overall for teaching such a hard course.
Was a great teacher. However, I definitely struggled in his class as exam and quizzes every week were heavy on memorization. I have a pretty heavy course load besides this class and I feel like I wasn't as prepared as I didn't have much time studying. You definitely need to put in work to get a good grade in this class.
KRS 353 as a course covers a lot of material, but Karl does a great job at condensing it. He does so, while still explaining things thoroughly in detail. Karl is very understanding and cares about his students.
The P.L.A.Y. motor clinic was pretty fun in my opinion. The class has quite a bit assignments, but Karl makes it clear what he expects for each one. As long as you put good effort into the assignments, you will get a good grade.
In this class, Karl does not teach much of any material during class, and it's expected that you learn out of the textbook and presentations outside of class. However, Karl is fun and easy grader. He is very relaxed.
The professor was an effective communicator and made sure the students understood what was expected from them before each class. He is very clear about his grading rubrics and the assignments are organized as well!
Great professor very understanding, and teaches with an emphasis on understanding those who needs that are different from others.
I took KRS 182 with him this semester! One noticeable thing is how passionate he is about the classes he teaches. He provides multiple extra credit opportunities and even participates in the sports we play. There is a good amount of content that you must complete within this course but as long as you put effort towards each of them you'll be fine.
Cool professor. Just a lot of work to do.
Professor Hennebach was very skilled in this profession and shows his passion for teaching. He is very organized and proves that he wants his students to succeed whilst having fun. He creates an environment in which his students thrive academically and socially.
Professor Hennebach is highly knowledgable and passionate in his profession which is shown through his teaching. However, for a physical activity class he assigns a lot of homework weekly. Overall, if you come to class everyday, do the work, and participate, you'll easily pass.
This professor was strict on grading and assigned quite a bit of homework. But it was easy if you read the instructions and looked at the due dates. He was a fun teacher this semester.
Professor requires many different assignments to be completed on many different online platforms
He was a very hands on professor and would participate the activities that we did. There was a lot more homework than I thought there would be but it is pretty easy and most can be done very quickly.
The class was KRS-302, not 353. Professor Hennebach was very helpful all semester, gave great feedback and provided ample opportunities to get a good grade if you dedicate some time to the course.
Feedback is for KRS-302 This class is very straightforward and as long as you put in the effort and turn in everything on time, you should do fine. Karl is very clear on the grading criteria and you can always send him an email if you have any questions. He gives a good amount of extra credit as well.
Class involves a lot of writing and research assignments, but the instructions are pretty clear and makes it relatively easy to succeed in this course.
Great professor! Lots of writing assignments every week but provides clear instructions. Come to class and do the assignments and you'll get an A.
He is very understanding and clear on his instructions for assignments and projects.
Professor was clear with all instructions and made class interesting
I loved this class. It was extremely informative on things most students may not have been taught in prior education that are critical to health and wellness. The projects challenged you to think outside the box and create unique and applicable components. Just do the work and put in effort and you'll be well above just passing.
Great professor! Lot of assignments to do outside of class but show up and exercise and you'll get an A
I really enjoyed this class and would definitely recommend taking this class. He gave clear instructions and answered his emails if you had questions. He made it extremely possible to get a good grade!
I enjoyed the class. You must be careful with the projects and put a decent amount of effort into every assignment. The professor was very clear on the instructions and made the students think outside the box.
Professor Karl is a good instructor and very helpful. The glass is online, so you have to pay attention to the workload so you don't end up cramming everything on the due date. His directions are clear and very detailed. He also offers a lot of extra credit opportunities.
Good about helping re open things
Even though KRS 302 was an online asynchronous class, Professor Hennebach was very accessible via email. Also, he gave a lot of extra credit opportunities for us to raise our overall grade.
The course was outstanding, primarily due to the instructor's caring attitude, challenging homework assignments, and exceptional teaching methods. While the workload was substantial, it contributed to a deeper understanding of the subject. I highly recommend this course to others.
Interesting class but be prepared for the homework load each week. Majority of this class is pretty easy points but some of the assignments require more time to complete so it's crucial to check your assignments at the beginning of the week to avoid last minute cramming. He also gives a lot of extra credit opportunities throughout the semester.
Be prepared for the homework load each week. Most assignments are pretty easy points but some require more time to complete so make sure you're checking the assignments at the beginning of the week to avoid last minute cramming. Lots of extra credit opportunities given throughout the semester too.
Usually provides all the materials and instructions needed to get assignments done. The layout of the course is quite confusing at times but it's still manageable. Personally, I would rather take an in-person course compared to online.
Be prepared for a lot of homework, and don't leave it to the last minute as it will catch up with you. Although the homework can be time consuming and the layouts and formats can be confusing, the content itself is easy and interesting. Professor is helpful and understanding outside class and provides extra credit opportunities.
Please to make sure to finish assignments on time because doing it last minute won't give you a good grade. Good luck future students for KRS-302
Karl is a great teacher! He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities for KRS 182, so really take advantage of that. If you want to get an A for this class, come to class and do the homework. He does give quite a bit of homework and does take some time to do, but it is easy. Had a great time in this class and learned a lot of different sports.
Communication with him is key. If you communicate, he is very understanding and helpful!
182 has a good amount of homework, the in class part is easy you just need to show up. Hw isnt hard, just time consuming.
302 was definitely more than I was expecting being an all online course. There was a good amount of hw with essays and projects. They were not necessarily hard, just very time consuming. you need to be pretty productive in the course and not leave assignments to the deadline.
A lot of homework each week but isn't necessarily hard. Make sure to start early on assignments and not wait till the last minute to do them. Except for that though great professor and is very open to any questions or concerns you might have just email him.
This course has a lot of work to do for a PE class but Professor Hennebach provides clear instructions on how to excel in the course. If you go to class and keep up with the online work you will be sure to get an A.
Karl is a great professor! He is very friendly and approachable. Although we do not get graded on our proficiency of the sports but rather participation and assignments, he makes respectable efforts to challenge us by incorporating a variety of drills. Additionally, he tries to get to know his students by holding conversations with them.
Professor Hennebach is a caring instructor who grades assignments fairly and is passionate and knowledgeable about the KRS courses he teaches. There is a lot of bookwork and online assignments for being an activity elective, but as long as you attend class and keep up with the due dates it is a manageable and fun course to take with him.
Hennebach has a passion for teaching, and goes above and beyond to make sure the content is clear and understandable.
He's an awesome teacher, gives all the information. Would take his class again!
This course has a lot of assignments and they can sometimes be very time consuming. Make sure to check assignments early in the week to keep up, he also offers lots of extra credit. The professor communicates well and is very understanding if you reach out. Another thing to note is that he takes a little longer to grade assignments.
Heavy loads of work in this class, but it was super interesting and I liked the content!
Good Professor, uses google drive instead of laulima
Gives very clear instructions for all assignments and projects. He is very fair when it comes to encouraging us to utilize outside recourses. For tests and quizzes, it's basically open book. Your participation is your grade. He is very fair.
Super easy to contact even though it was an online course and he gives clear instructions. Easy to follow and overall a great asynch course.
He makes the classes very passable and knows his content well. This was a fun class and he let us out early every day! Would definitely recommend.
He was a good teacher. The only thing that really matters is attendance, regardless of your level or abilities.
The professor was not over demanding and did a great job teaching.
Understand and helpful to all students. His lecture slides are easy to follow and he explains all the material very well.
Really nice guy, and challenged us with the content but was really helpful and made it easy to pass the class. I learned a lot about the content. Super chill with the practical exams too.
I actually enjoyed taking this class & he gives clear and direct lectures. Textbook wasn't needed but showing up to class was important. He gave extra credit opportunities & quizzes were mostly on what we learned during class.
Class was really interesting, and he made it really easy to get a good grade as long as you did the work. The practicals could feel a bit overwhelming but he was pretty chill and gave a lot of feedback + helps guide you through everything. Very chill guy.
Great professor, very knowledgeable about swimming. You must go to class or you have zero chance of passing.
He made the lessons and lectures more interactive and fun so that it was easier to pay attention. He does keep track of attendance so make sure you go! Other than that the quizzes and practicals were not too bad. He gave us a lot of time to prepare for them both during and outside of class.
This class was mainly attendance based as we didn't have any assignments or tests/quizzes to do but he made sure to remind us that attendance mattered and was very understanding if something came up that caused you to miss class.
Karl was the best! I loved the class and wish I could take it again. I was a swimmer and getting back in the water and working on my technique was so fun! Karl was always kind and respectful and just wanted everyone to have fun and get better at swimming.
Professor Hennebach is a supportive teacher who looks for creative ways to teach swimming.
Great instructor with diverse and engaging workouts to learn swimming including partner/group exercises which I found to be beneficial.
Professor is very understanding and definitely would recommend to take him.
Took KRS-104, very enjoyable class. Karl is awesome, I highly recommend taking his swimming class you will learn a lot.
KRS-104. Karl is an awesome instructor, he did an outstanding job putting together the curriculum. highly recommend taking his classes, 10/10.
Enjoyed class
Karl is super chill and makes class engaging and interesting. He is also very understanding if you ever have any issues during or outside of class. Attendance is mandatory but that's a given considering this class (Emergency Care and First Aid) has a lot of hands-on material. However, he gives lots of opportunities to do well on quizzes and exams.
Classes were fun and engaging. Lots of extra credit. He also gives lots of time to prepare for exams. As long as you go to class and put in the work it's an easy A.
This class is an easy A if you do everything on time, he gives all the resources needed and extra credit opportunities. Exams and quizzes are based off information given on slideshows but they are fill-in-the-blanks so you will need to attend classes. This is an attendance heavy course but is easy. He is chill and understanding.
He is great teacher.
He is great teacher so much fun every class
I think Professor Hennebach was an amazing professor. I learned a lot of important information throughout the semester and learning the information during the duration of this course was smooth and it wasn't too difficult to remember what was taught during lectures. I also liked the hands-on learning we did and I enjoyed this class a lot.
He is quite strict about attendance because this class primarily focuses on learning through practice. I understand why attendance is an important aspect of this course. Overall, if you are a strong swimmer, this course will serve as an effective workout. However, as a beginner, it definitely challenges me to learn and requires extra effort.
Karl was an excellent teacher. I learned a lot from this course. If you are a strong swimmer, this course will provide a good workout, and as a beginner, you will improve your swimming skills.
He is a really good and understanding professor. His lecture information is very important and useful since it matches the information on the test and quizzes. Practical exams are not hard to pass since a study guide with everything you need to know for it is on there. As long as you go to most lectures (attendance is required), you'll do good!
He teaches like a real professional. He knows his stuff, he's diligent, and he can teach students with different skill levels.
Professor was really great and very understandable and easy going with work and assignments.
Great professor who communicates well with his students. If you have any trouble in the course, just talk to him and I'm sure he can help you in some way.
he makes challenging workouts but fun. He shows that he cares about the class and his students as well.
I had a great time in this Swim course. Karl is a great instructor and respects all his students.
Great swimming teacher! It is a very fun and thought-out swimming course! I would definitely retake it!
The class was in person, and he had a student resource folder and PowerPoints for each lesson to fill in for class. He's helpful and lenient.
Good instructor, makes the class fun and interesting.
It fun and interesting

He was very helpful when you needed some clarification or help. He was understanding when you struggled in class and helped you accommodate to the assignment at hand.
I loved taking this swim class, it was fun and i learned new techniques that made me a stronger swimmer.
Very accommodating
Great professor, easy to understand, and take his time making sure everyone understand the topic. Very lenient in grading, he care more that you understand. Would take again.
Had him for swim and it was okay. He implements a lot of partner work that requires you to touch other people just as a heads up.
Karl was a pretty straightforward Professor and lecture-heavy throughout the class just do the work and assignments and it should be an easy class.
Very straightforward professor. Grades really easy and gives great advice on the practical. Also holds several review sessions if you need it for the practical exam!
Very organized, fair, meticulous, gives detailed instructions, a lot of weekly requirements.
He is a great professor and has helped me work through my attendance as i am suffering an injury.
When I first started, I couldn't swim freestyle at all, but thanks to the professor's systematic teaching and consistent guidance, I was able to learn and improve steadily. I really appreciated the detailed feedback, which helped me correct my mistakes and gain confidence in the water.
professor is pretty easy, and lots of chances to make up for classes if you miss any. overall the course was easy and just chill.
Super fun class just make sure to attend!
Depending on swimming levels, he gave every student different ways of teaching.

The professor was highly knowledgeable and professional in swimming. His teaching style was clear and easy to follow. He observed the class carefully and gave helpful feedback when needed. I appreciate his guidance and the effort he put into helping us improve our swimming skills.
Karl is a great swimming instructor. If you want high grade, make sure to attend all classes.
Just show up to every single class on time, and you'll get an A+. Ok if you don't swim every class, you can come and sit in the shade and do homework, so that's nice. No excuses to not show up except a doctor's note. The sets we do are pretty unserious, but fun, you have to make it an actual workout for yourself. I recommend it if you like to swim.
I enjoyed the class. It was chill. It was most about whether you come to class or not. Learned a lot from Karl.
Took both 103 and 104 with him this semester. The class is fun, the sets and partner drills are a blast, Karl is a good teacher, and he cares about everyone improving their swimming and having fun in the sport. If you have to take an HES take swimming, you won't regret it!! :)
He is a good teacher, and takes care of his students very well. It was a great experience learning how to swim throughout the semester from him.
Karl was incredible and I hope he is able to continue teaching at UH. I would highly recommend taking a class from him if given the chance.
Karl was always prepared for class and came ready with a lesson plan each class. he was usually understanding if family situations came up and offered chances to make up the missing points.
I was able to learn a lot because the instructor understood me well and taught everything in an easy way.
I totally recommend taking this class! Karl is so kind and very understanding when it comes to personal problems and has ways to make up classes if you miss them. It is so fun being able to swim in the UH pool twice a week. Not only do you get to learn different skills, but Karl makes it so much fun! This is an easy and fun class so please take it!
Super fun class. You get swim workouts each class and try to get as much of it done. Coach Karl will tell you what to improve or work on. Also fun days where we get to play water polo and jump off the diving boards! Such a good class to take especially if you want to get a good workout in and a class free of essays!
Karl was an amazing swim instructor. He listened to students, provided feedback when necessary, and was overall a very kind and caring person. Karl was able to provide excellent instruction both through class lecture and through one on one instruction. Overall Loved Karl would %100 take his class again :)
Took his intermediate swim class, was very fun and easy to moderate workouts every class.
Great dude, show up to class, swim and learn.
Super nice and really fun instructor. He genuinely wants everyone to succeed, no matter their skill level. Classes are enjoyable, low-stress, and you actually look forward to showing up. He's patient, encouraging, and makes swimming feel approachable instead of intimidating. Highly recommend if you want to learn, improve, and enjoy the class.
