Lectures are very clear and interesting

Interesting class & fun teacher. However,gets a little too close for comfort. I would recomend his class, but not recomend being on a one on one bases.

KARL is one of the best teachers on campus. If you like Lacoste for Comic Spirit then you LIKE Squitier for Pagan/Greek. Very easily understood and helpful. Both cuss alot....

However watch out for his stupid TAs.He uses Grad students to grade everything and I think one personally didn't like me.They give no feedback and in my case the only advice was negative.Still Karl is GREAT!

Karl is a great teacher. hes helpful, hes clear and he is open minded to other opinions. No Roll Call, tests are relatively easy and he is very leniant. Hes also really nice and easy to talk to. Cusses a lot in class, but does not take it out on his students. Cancels classes occasionaly.

Perfect teacher. Really knows how to get the point across to the younger generation. Older man who cusses whenever he wants and makes the class extremely enjoyable. Can get moody if the class talks and walked out on us once because of it. Pretty easy tests, just take notes and listen.

Cool Professor! He's class was interesting. I took him back in Fall 2002 (freshman) and I got B without studying too much; I could have gotten an A though! The Final was a take home essay which is not that hard. I'm looking forward to take one of his classes (CAPSTONE) this Fall '05). He's a great professor and funny. RECOMMENDED!

Great teacher...only though I hated about him was that his quizes were worth the same as his tests, meaning missing even one or two on the quiz is worse than missing a couple on the test!

Everyone should take Karl at least once. He has a great sense of humor and you will laugh your way through the semester but still learn a lot. Plus, he brought wine to class for all of us!

Pagan culture is a capstone too, take this class, you cant possibly get lower than a B unless ur..."special". I wish I could take another class with karl.

This is the 3rd class i've taken with karl because he is easy going and very interesting & by far the best prof i've had. strongly recommend taking a class with him, you won't regret it. barely any homework, some light but interesting reading. all you do is turn in papers that aren't that hard to write.

Interesting class. He's really cool; not afraid to curse. Note taking is difficult because everything is verbal and he changes topics often. He will repeat things if asked, but sometimes he has said so much you're not sure what to write down. Most of the midterm is on class discussion. But do read what he assigns because that is on the exams.

The best professor/ experience. So easy and such an awesome guy. He assigns easy readings and even easier tests (like 2).

midterm and final are essays, not too many readings, a project/presentation, no study guides though. Like everyone says, this guy is awesome, take him if possible. Lectures are interesting and he'll clarify anything you don't understand.

I've taken 3 classes with squitier and never once have i regretted it. took clsc 101, 300I, & 490....i will be taking 340! looked forward to going to class since he made every lecture VERY interesting. Essays are definitely not hard to write and only had one presenation for CLSC 490 which was very simple! seriously take it, you'll love it & him!

If you graduate from LB without taking one of Karl's classes, you have not experienced the true Beach experience. He knows what he's talking about and he loves it. He's funny, too. (But it gets annoying when everybody titters after he swears.)

karl is a super mellow college professor. one of those teachers who likes to tell stories and involve the class surprisingly well for how big the class was. flexible with class calender, focus on content and learning instead of grades and averages. uses some profanity here and there but for the giggle it produces. highly recommended course.

Hilarious, fun, easiest class I've ever taken. Assignments take 5 minutes and there were a grand total of 3. Take him, hes brilliant, you get to watch movie clips and he really involves the class which was crazy because the lecture hall had hundreds of students. He doesn't take attendance but I suggest going anyway for his lectures.

This guy is GREAT! I loved his Pagan Culture class; it was entertaining and very interesting! Plus, it was probably the easiest class I've ever taken. As long as you go to class, study the notes, and do the assignments you've got an A.

This guy is awesome. He is absolutely hilarious and has the most interesting lectures. The class is very easy, however, you need to go to class so you can get all the notes because the midterm and final are NOT easy if you don't know the info. There is only 1 4-5 pg. paper and then a couple of other easy assignments. Not a lot of reading either.

Good teacher and a fair grader. Very interesting; knows his stuff. Doesn't take attendence but all the test questions are from his lectures. Won't require specifics like dates but know the main characters and basic plots. You'll do well on essays if you present a good argument, don't just retell the story.

Wonderful teacher. His lectures can be difficult to follow at times, but they are definately interesting. Assignments and tests are a breeze. Professor Squitier is one of my favorite professors! Although he doesn't take attendance, I suggest you go to class since his quizzes and tests are based on his lecture notes and readings. His quizzes and tests are not difficult as long as you pay attention, study and read! He curses and is very blunt (hilarious). I never fell asleep!

Coolest/funniest dude ever. Lectures are entertaining and class is extremely easy if your looking for a capstone to balance with your major classes. A few short papers and some tests/quizzes but all of them are easy. Lets you out early almost every time.

This class was amazing. Karl is incredible at presenting the material. He made it so interesting and fun. Stay on task, do all the assignments and attend every lecture and you should get an A. I highly recommend this class to anyone. Really an amazing instructor. loved it.

Interesting & an EASY, "A"; 3 essays (1 in-class), 2 small writing assignments, 1 quiz, 1 midterm, & the final. They're all SUPER EASY. Just follow directions & take good notes, & you should be set. Aids grade everything. He is very easy-going. He tends to cuss so be warned. Everyone should take a class with Squitier before graduating!

He says a lot of curse words and stuff you think a professor would not say. Anyways, this class is easy, but not super easy. The tests are all based on his lectures, so it can be a bit difficult to study for.

Take him for capstone easy a or b. He offers extra credit paper for visiting getty villa. TA grades too strict and doesn't grade the exercise right. Exercise is not an essay and she takes points off for conclusion when we dont need a conclusion. So far got two B's for essay, one A for in class essay. One quiz and one midterm then a final.

Took both greek myth&pagan culture. Not sure how I ended up taking Greek myth my freshmen year but glad I did. I remember him telling us to take his pagan culture class to fulfil our capstone. Fast forward to my sr year &he was just as how I remembered him. Foul mouthed, hilarious, yet serious about his class! Fun, engaging, easy A if u do the work

Had him for both 300I & 380. He's fantastic, a great way to start my first semester at the school. Swears up a storm, tells hilarious stories and really wants his students to do well. 300 had a few papers, most of them just 1 page. 380 had a couple of 3-5 page papers plus a presentation, but it isn't hard. Take Karl, he's amazing!

Awesome professor, awesome class. I was an international business major and took this class as a capstone class and to this day I still remember everything I learned about Dionysus two years ago. Going to class is a must. He pretty much bases most of his tests on lectures. All papers, if I remember correctly, are all opinion based.

I thought greek myth would be boring and irrelevant but somehow this professor convinced me otherwise. His lectures were clear and involved class participation and his (few) assignments and tests were very easy. He makes you think- which i liked. Take this class for humanities GE with Squitier.

Really cool professor. You must attend class to get the notes since it will be on the exams. We did not use any of the books, but be aware of which book you're suppose to be reading and the author. 2 midterms. 2 papers (less than a page). 2 quizzes (10 prob.) and a final. Never went to class and managed to get a B+.... So close to an A. Good Luck!

Overall good proffesor. :) His lectures are interesting and he makes the course work pretty simple so passing with a C or better should not be an issue as long as you take consistant notes. We actually never used the textbooks however some tests will require readings from one book. Take note of what that book is before you spend money on 3 books.

I love this teacher. Class is very interesting but in the beginning the topics are pretty boring. He is no longer teaching this class, but let me tell you about him. He is a fantastic guy. curses, jokes and lets you out early often. Don't mistake this for him not caring. He tries to get to know his students and is available often. I don;t believe he will be teaching must longer so I must say that try and take this guy before you graduate

Laid-back and fun class. Participation is strongly encouraged. Attendance is not mandatory but essential, as your notes are your only study guide and the material is so specific to his lectures. No powerpoints, no review sessions. Show interest and effort, and he'll meet you there. He's the kind of professor who wants to see everyone do well.

This class was absolutely my favorite! You learn a lot about Greek mythology. There was one midterm exam, one final exam, two quizzes, and two paper exercises. The class was pretty chill overall, but if you skip class you most likely won't pass. The exams are based off of pure notes. There are no powerpoints given to you.

This guy is awesome. His lectures are pretty fun and always encourages his students to participate in lecture. He likes to interact with students and he always respects others' point of view. 2 quizzes, 2 assignments, 1 midterm and a final, all of them easy. DEFINITELY TAKE HIM.

Karl is super funny. Lectures are really interesting. Tests aren't hard but based 90% on lecture so attendance is really encouraged. Small reading assignments and 2 easy 1-page papers. Really easy A.

Super easy class. Attendance isn't mandatory, but participation helps A LOT. He will basically let you skip the Final if you participated throughout the semester. Really nice guy, interesting lectures, wish I could take more classes with him, but it's not part of my major.

By far one of my favorite professors/teachers ever. It's very hard to not enjoy his class, and I looked forward to it every day. There are very few quizzes/tests/assignments. Get on his good side, and make sure he knows your name by participating, it'll help out BIG TIME. He's hilarious and he always knows how to keep the class's attention.

I love Professor Squitier! He is a little tough on grading the writing assignments but it is definitely a pretty easy class!

Honestly had a lot of fun in this class! If you pay attention to the lectures and take notes you'll do just fine on the midterm and final. The other side assignments are super easy. He's a really chill professor and tries to keep you engaged.

He's funny and very kind to students. His lectures are clear and it's recommended to jot down notes. I found books to be unnecessary as I used sparknotes to help study for the quizzes he assigns. Exams are a bit harder since it requires critical thinking. Overall, great class.

Excellent professor. He understands that this is a GE course and makes the class enjoyable. You will not be looking at the clock waiting for lunch. Unfortunately, you do not need the books. Just buy the packet from the bookstore.

He grades you on two quizzes, two exercises (activities) and midterm/final. His lectures are pretty easy to follow. If you plan on being absent, make some friends that you can discuss missed lectures with. If you are interested in Greek myth, this class should be fairly easy for you.

Funniest teach I have ever had. He cusses like you and I do and he is very smart. I recommend highly to take a class with him. He often cuts class short and if you participate in class I've heard you get an A. Quizzes are easy, don't know about tests yet. Student aid grades you hard on papers, so make sure your writing is on par. Get it proof read

Awesome professor! There are easy A homework assignments if you follow the guidelines, quizzes, some reading the book/online articles and the midterm is easy. Final is a bit challenging, but if you do all of the assignments, read the notes you take in EVERY LECTURE because EVERYTHING IS FROM WHAT HE LECTURES (no power points, all verbal), then A.

I was in his CLSC 100 class, studying the ancient civilizations. A lot of the work was investigating cultures on your own and then sharing with the class in a group presentation. His course really helps you see that we have not changed much in the thousands of years that we have been here; oh and he's also into the idea of ancient aliens.

Basically graded on 4 "investigations" just a little research done in class and presented by group. No work done outside class. Prof. Squitier is funny, caring, and genuinely wants his students to enjoy what they are learning. Honestly, wish I saved this class for later on because of how relaxed it is. I would definitely take with a hard schedule.

Really easy. Didn't even use the books/packet . 4 GROUP investigations presented on ppt. Really simple, everybody is graded individually. Pretty funny guy and nice, but got some hearing issues, so speak up. Learned some interesting things. It's mostly a class effort, we 'teach'' each other on civilizations & he adds on, in depth.

Don't buy the books. Just find them on sparknotes or something. Make sure you right everything down he says in lecture. The assignments that he assigns are REALLY easy, as long as you follow the guideline. His tests were harder than expected, but if you take good notes and read them thoroughly, you'll be fine

Karl is hilarious, I had him for CLSC101 and even though I knew a lot about Greek myth before I took the class I learned so much more because he is so intelligent and knowledgable. He's old school but you can tell he knows exactly what he's talking about, taking his class is like listening to a long story, all the lectures connect very well.

His class is like sitting in during a storytelling. His lectures are always informative and interesting, write down everything he says! Two short and easy quizzes and exercises. Multiple choice midterm and final. He always tells you what to expect from him and the class. A great professor!

I took Greek Mythology with him, and it was great! The class really isnt hard but you do need to show up to take REALLY GOOD NOTES! Basically anything he says in class can show up on the exams. He also gives 2 assignments but he is very clear on what he wants so you cant really go wrong on it. Totally recommend because you do learn a lot!

Both exercises are easy. Quizzes are easy. But the midterm and the final can be a little difficult. His lectures are more like storytelling and you have to make sure you get everything down. Hes a chill guy.

I really looked forward to coming to his lectures. The class was pretty easy with moderate studying. Some people are not as into history as me but I saw this class as very interesting and easy. My grade was somewhere above a 96%. You're graded on a 2 quizzes, 2 tests, and 2 essays. Looking forward to taking another class with him again!

One of the best Professors I've ever had! The class is pretty lecture heavy. Make sure to take notes and pay attention. There were only two assignments and two exams. Other than that the class is really easy. Make sure you participate because he really likes it when students engage with the conversation. This best class I have ever taken!

My favorite professor in college so far. I took him twice (greek myth and ancient eats). Show up everyday, participate, and he'll grow to like you. Finished both classes with A+ (Im a 3.3 GPA student). Ancient Eats has no tests! you do group projects and eat food! He's a great story teller!

Professor Squitier is an easygoing professor. There are 4 presentations and a final, all of which he gives very clear instructions for. He really tries his best to help everyone succeed in the class. Students take notes on other presentations, but this is just to boost your grade. The presentations are very short and super casual. An easy 100 class

Exercises are 25% of your grade each and you're basically guaranteed 100% on them as long as you follow the instructions. It's your fault if you don't get an A in this class. Best and easiest class for GE or elective. Lectures and amazing and hilarious. 3 investigations and one final. No exams or weekly homework. I would definitely take his class again

Super easy class, he's very funny and caring but I think he's not teaching this class anymore:/ He doesn't care if you show up or not and provides any reading. I think there were 2 quizzes, 2 one pagers, and midterm/final.
