Seriously, the best teacher ever! So kind and mild. Super easy class!!
His powerpoint lectures are easy to understand and he paces the class in a timely manner so nobody feels rushed. Open-minded and fair!
He's really organized and super friendly and even gives you chances to take your tests if you were absent
Suddenly, the most witty and fun political science professor. Take him! Just take him. Easy, clear, helpful--and he practically gives you the answers you'll ever need!
Finally a professor that really knows what he is talking about. Great personality and charisma really explains his knowledge in political science. Take HIM!! you wont regret him although he could do better in doing group work more often and more involvement techniques with students other than that he is TERRIFIC I love POLI-1. thanks PROFESSOR
Take Professor Karl.He explains the lecture really clear, shows videos, gives out alot of extra credits plus power points lectures by email. He wants the very best for his students,I guaranteed you will love his class although he could do more better in involving students by more group work dynamics and more interaction techniques with students
Very easy, great class. Its very boring but not due to Striepe's lack of trying ( Playing videos, making jokes). It's just boring cus he rushes through the notes, but he sends them to your email so you don't have to pay attention or take notes. So it's not very interactive but he does do a "debate" which only works if the class actually reads.
Very helpful and made a not so fun topic as interesting as possible. My only problem was that he was pretty darn adorable to the point that I was slightly distracted but that's not his fault.
Easy class. He hands out study guides, so there's no excuse for failing his exams. His quizzes are a piece of cake. He also gives plenty of extra credit. He makes a boring subject interesting. He's really clear on what he expects from the class. The only difficult part was keeping my eyes off this handsome man.
Professor Striepe is a kind but really shy at first. His lectures are pretty straightforward. He emails the class in case you missed and is always willing to help out a student. Really young and pretty laid back. He is a bit awkward but tries to be funny. Tends to look down in his lectures but is pretty loud so everyone can listen in on his lectur
Best political science teacher ever! Striepe's study guides are very clear and precise. He lets the students know exactly what his grading consists of. Weekly quizzes which are extremely easy, one research paper which is fairly easy (only took 2 hours to finish it), and two tests, a midterm and a final, which he provides study guides for.
I dreaded having to take Political Science before I took his class, but he actually makes the subject interesting. He really puts an effort into his Power Point lectures. Prepare to study! He tells you ahead of time what will be on the tests and it is a lot of memorization.
Professor Striepe seems very passionate about what he does. He enjoys teaching and is there for you always. Responds to e-mails right away, he comes to every lecture prepared and gives guidlines for both mid-term and final exams which do appear exactly on exams. Highly recommended :)
I loved Professor Striepe's class, would definitely take again. Those of you who are considering to take Poli sci class, take his class you won't regret!
He is a vety generous and good-humored teacher. You won't even need the book because his lectures are so much understandable compared to the book. He gives extra credits and chances to take quizes those who were absent. Definitely the best professor I had in ElCo. Just please give him also respect because he deserves it.
He may seem like a strict professor for the first few lectures, but he is actually very generous, wants his students to pass. Text books weren't very necessary since he has his slides and gives guidlines for both mid-term and final exams. In fact, you only have to study the guidelines for the exams. Great professor, would definitely take again :)
Professor Strieps's very kind, generous, and respectful teacher. I definitely recommends him for all the students who is planning to take political science; don't be hesitates or even don't think twice, just take his class& you wouldn't be regret.
Great professor!! I really enjoyed his lectures and hes super fun to look at! I am more informed with current events.
1. Nice guy homorous and passionate 2. the most prepared and organized professor in ELCO 3. Tests are not tough but it was little annoying to preapre essay as I am a foreigner 4. Extra credit & make up quizzes
His lecture was very informative and helpful. I'd like to take another his class :)
I first learned U.S. political science in the class. It was a very good experience! It may be a little difficult if you are international student due to some unfamiliar vocabularies and notions but he gives guide line for exams. So you can get good grades if you study hard. Take his class.
He is very kind and generous. The power point lectures are very helpful!
Karl is a great teacher with steady class schedule. he is very organized with a lot of simple work for his students to gain points in his class. His lectures are so well put together and organized i did not need the book at all. Even for the homework i took pictures of the debates that he was going to assign. overall great teacher!
Professor Karl is awesome professor. He is good guy and respect to the students. Just you need to study lecture sheet what he gives at the first day at class. He gives extra credit. Exam are not hard. Overall he is wonderful guy. I got a A this class.
He's great, always so clear on what he wants from the students. His slides has everything that we need to know for exams so you don't really need to read that much.
Very straight forward professor that does everything he can to help his students. You can tell he is very passionate about his job and will answer any questions during the lecture if there is any confusion.
There may be quiz every week, but it's just vocab words you need to know. Only one research paper (about 7 to 8 pages) midterm, and final. The midterms and finals are all based on vocab words, short answers, and one essay and he will give you the studyguides for all of those. This is one of the easiest political science classes I took so far.
Honestly, he's a really laid back professor but the lecture feels soooo long. The entire class is basically memorizing the study guide for the midterm and the final (160 vocab words, 15 short answer, 2-3 essays on readings each). Essay was a pretty easy 5-6 page analysis. Don't need the book.
This is honestly one of the most straight- forward classes I have taken. It's very easy, you don't need the book, and it's very important that you study because the study guide is 100% identical to the midterm and final.
He is one of the most intelligent professors I have ever had. If you can't get an A in his class, you are doing something wrong (as in you are doing nothing at all). He is one of the nicest and caring professors on campus. I learned a lot from his class and I hope to take him again soon.
If you were to do all of the work/reading he assigns, it will help you gain an incredible amount of knowledge - especially into the future for any major. Best professor I have ever had
Favorite professor at Elco. Super organized and straightforward.
really great & informative professor! Topics were interesting and he is one of the best at El Co
He truly wants everybody to pass his class, and is respected by his students. He gives out study guides before the exams and they are very beneficial. He only gave out 2 exams the whole semester and one research paper.
Just took his class over the summer and I don't regret it. You honestly don't need the textbook though you will need to get the other book he requires. His study guides are EXACTLY how both the midterm and the final will be like so study, study, study! Overall, it's an easy A if you put your all to the class.
Professor Striepe is awesome. Makes Political Science somewhat interesting. I learned a lot in his summer class. He is a very clear and organized professor. You are expected to do homework, take vocab quizzes, papers, and participate in class; nothing major. Highly recommend professor Spriepe. Good luck!!
LONG LECTURES LOOOONG LECTURES BUT theres only vocab tests (which he gives you every word for and its multiple chpice) and only two tests! I took him in the summer shouldve gotten an A but I slacked off for like two weeks.
His teaching is literally straight forward and I understood this class so well. I got inspired by all these philosophers we read about. Easy vocab quiz every week, literally don't even have to study for them, it' basic stuff. Midterm and final are straight forward.
Prof. Striepe is a master of political philosophy. He explains every concept, can answer any question, and has read all of the great philosophical works. We read Mills, Kant, Machiavelli, Ta-Nehisi Coates & many more. These readings should be mandatory for all college students. Some of the greatest thinkers in human history. Great class. Take him.
Prof. Striepe was extremely caring he will work with you! He has the best grading scale ever. Everything is memorization but you will still learn a lot. He is quiet cool calm and collective. Long lectures with a lot of videos that he thinks are funny but they are nerdy funny. Put in 80% effort and you will get an A!
Great prof. Used this site plenty and I haven't written a review once, but this dude def deserves it. If you want an idea of how well liked he is, he told my class he still had spots open for the following semester for diff PS classes. Went home later that same day to check and saw that every class he was teaching was full, waitlist included.
He is a wonderful Professor. You will not regret if you take him. Put 80% effort and study . His exams are based from the study guide. His lectures are amazing and the videos are very good one too!! You will learn a lot!!
Prof. Stripe is the definition of college! It is your own responsibility to get the grade you want in this class. He is extremely clear on what he wants however you can get it done however you get it done. Its an easy A if you don't get comfortable slacking for a while but if you slack too long and bomb the test...
Went from a paralegal program, philosophy major to having a huge interest in majoring in Political Science. Very clear criteria, you truly earn your grade. Do yourself a favor and take an Actual professor while at Elco.
Karl is the best. Show up and do the quizzes, study the study guides he gives you, and you'll get an A. He'll love you if you participate. It's a bit of work, but he is straightforward and fair. He's a great professor that actually cares about his students. His classes fill up quickly, so make sure to sign up fast. Do all the work before the final
Extremely intelligent and great lecturer. Very clear grading criteria and gives an amazing study guide for both big exams. Always has office hours and is very caring.
I thoroughly believe that Professor Striepe is an actual genius. His lectures are amazing, he literally keeps talking for the entire class and can answer literally any question. His class is easy as he gives you a study guide for the midterm and final that gives you ALL the answers. If you want to take a real professor, he would be your guy.
He was a really good professor. I took him during the winter semester and it wasnt so hard. Since its a shorter period of time everything is faster but overall great class.
I took his winter class and Pro. Striepe made the class very informative and interesting. Quizzes and exams are easy if you put some effort into it. I love the extra credits opportunity he offered. You will learn a lot in his class.
His class is only lectures but his final and mid are really easy, he will give you the questions and answers that you'll have to memorize and take the test. I have taken many of his political science classes and have never been stressed out for any of them!
He is a good professor overall, as he is knowledgeable about the subject. There are assignments due every class day and quizzes that follow. The quizzes are easy if you do the practice quiz in the book and make flashcards for vocab. Midterm and final are easy since the answers are in the study guide. Took it in the Winter, so it is fast paced.
A professor who often uses Ted-Eds to help his lectures can't be a bad professor. Very very easy. I took his honors class during the winter and finished with a 99% without studying too much (I did memorize material before his tests), and I'm not even a native speaker.
Amazing lectures, amazing teacher. chapter vocab quiz every week (easy) and discussion questions (easy) due every week. midterms and finals are the only big tests, which i highly recommend to study for and make sure you know everything on the study guide which he hands out. Striepe is the best professor i've ever had at El Camino
Striepe is one of the best professors I've ever taken. His class was so clear and to the point. His study guides were amazing and exactly what was on the test. He obviously cares about his students. On top of that he can be super funny. From now on I'm going to try to take all my poli sci classes with him. In fact I'm already registered for another
He's a really smart and funny guy. Each class he would lecture and give quizzes on key terms from that lecture. Textbooks aren't necessary b/c his slides cover everything and he emails them out after class. He also emails out the terms + definitions for quizzes and exams. Exam study guides are amazing - he gives you answers to study from.
This professor is really straightforward with what he expects on lectures along with tests/quizzes. He gives out really comprehensive study guides and lectures/in-class debates were really interesting. You still have to study to do well, but it's not a challenging class by any means.
Awesome professor and class! Lectures were interesting as Professor Striepe always had interesting clips related to the topics gone over in class. I hope to take him again this upcoming semester!
Professor Striepe is one of the best professors I've had. His class is generally boring if you don't like talking about politics obviously, but he does his best to make it interesting. You can tell he has a passion for this topic and really cares about his students. Also helps that he is just adorable. Definitely recommend his class
Great class. Pretty easy. memorize and study guides help alot. He knows his stuff!
AMAZING. He's straightforward with the exams. I took him in the winter and there was only a midterm and final. He gives you outlines for the exams which has all the answers given to you on the packet. All you need to do is memorize the answers and you're set. Great guy, great class, easy A. I guarantee it. I promise you, you won't regret it.
Political Science is borning but professor Striepe finds a way to make it interesting. His lectures tend to be long but has some eye-opening videos on some topics. He gives you all you need to study, word by word. hard not to pass unless you're trying to fail. midterm and finally are extra easy if you write what he gives you in the study guides.
Super nice, accommodating, mellow, & funny. If you keep up with the reading, the homework becomes relatively easy. He also gives these study guides that are more or less 1-for-1 the exams. Just take the class seriously, give yourself the proper time for essays, exams, & hw & you'll pass with flying colors. Really easy, and surprisingly fun class!
Mr stripe was a good professor. Interesting lectures, and over all a chill guy. We only really needed one textbook, (the one for the written assignments). Every week we had a quiz based on terms and some reading, and some short answer questions due as well. Nothing that can't be done. He let's you retake the mid term if you don't like your score.
This class was far from hard. He grades based on: a weekly quiz every tuesday, an assignment due every thursday, the mid term, final, and one paper. MidTerm & Final are a little heavy but he literally gives you the answers to them, it is just your job to memorize it. Really easy class.
Really easy class if you arent lazy! Keep up with hw every Thursday and quizzes every Tuesday and youll pass. Midterm, paper, final are easy he gives you all the answers to memorize!
All you have to worry about in regards to work is vocabulary and answering 5-6 questions about a book he assigns BUT he tells you what page the answers are in and the answers are very straightforward and the questions are credit and no credit. He gives extra credit for making vocal flashcards. One research paper, but a generous grader.
A great professor is very easy to pass. And is very understanding of his lectures. Lots of videos. And has a great personality.
This professor was the best recommendation I got from a friend. There are a lot of vocabulary quizzes but easy just have to memorize them and memorize questions from each chapter in the textbook too( warning: some chapter have a lot of vocab. words) And for the mid and final exam he provides you the answer you just have memorize them but are long
He gives a clear study guide for midterm and final. The class is super easy if you put any effort and you actually get useful information out of the class. Highly recommend!
Professor Striepe is a very nice guy! His lectures were interesting and engaging. He gave us weekly quizzes on vocab that were only worth 5 points and weekly DQ's, but try not to miss them because they can change your grade dramatically. We had a midterm, 7-8 pg. paper, and final. There were over 100 words of vocab to study and only 25 were chosen!
One of the best teachers i have ever had. If you put the work in you'll get an A. He gives out midterm and final study guides that literally explain everything that will be on the test. Honestly if you don't do well in his class its 100% your own fault.
The work is simple and repetitive so you know what to expect, hes also very lenient and understanding. His lectures were always interesting to me and he would always explain things thoroughly. I took an Honors class so he had us read these little books but its easy. Overall great professor.
He is a very nice and very caring teacher. Easy A. He literally gives you almost all of the answers to the midterm and final. Don't really need to show up to class tbh. The only bad thing is the discussion questions every week. It is just busy work. Weekly vocab tests are easy too.
Professor Striepe was one of my favorite professors. He goes over the discussion questions and encourages participation in the class because he knows that the class will be more interesting with some debate. Midterm and final were straight forward from study guide. Such a sweet guy too! If you have to take this class you'd be stupid not to take him
He is the best professor, I hated political science, but he made it really easy to understand, and his PPT is really helpful. I decided to rate him because I'm taking history and I realized I remember everything from his lecture, take him!! work hard on vocab.
Easiest A ever. Quiz answers were vocab and multiple choice, the answers to these are at the end of the chapter of the book. Case studies, just answer the questions. Easy points! Exams are easy! You can see all the questions ahead of the exam date. SUPER EASY! You cannot fail this class. Quizzes are on Tuesdays and studies on Thursdays !
The class is very repetitive and dry. No real feedback from the prof on your work. Material is easy but its mainly just a bunch of vocab definitions. There are no lectures recorded or live so the class felt very impersonal. Also, he kept calling me by the wrong name despite it literally being in my student email address.
Professor Striepe is the absolute best! I was not a fan of Political Science and he actually presented the material in interesting ways which was very engaging. Although this was an online class, he stays in contact with his students and leaves feedback on all coursework submitted. He's a great professor who is passionate about what he does.
Professor Striepes polisci class was a breeze. As long as you follow along and make sure you do all the assignments on time, youll be okay. For the midterm and final he gives you the questions that could be on the test so you can study for them. Grades things very quickly and very friendly!
He's insanely kind and understanding. Very easy workload, just lots of reading. Pulls random info from textbook for quizzes but most of it is just keyword definitions. The only negative is the textbook used is made by COC, so You have to buy, not rent. I still have mine and I wish I didn't. Overall, he's really great. Definitely take from him!
Since this was an online class with no Zoom meetings or anything, I did not really get to know Professor Striepe. Plus it was a Winter Semester so I was in his class for a very short time. From what I got from our short email conversations and class discussions he seems really nice and I would highly recommend his class.
Professor Striepe is one of the best professors I have had yet! Hes understanding and cares for his students. You definitely want to buy the textbook because EVERYTHING IS IN THERE, and I mean EVERYTHING!
Prof Striepe is extremely kind and understanding, and I highly recommend him for Poli1. He tells you exactly what he expects on every assignment, quiz, and test, and as long as you do the work you'll pass. He grades quickly and gives feedback on every writing assignment.
Amazing professor. There is a lot of reading and about 4 assignments due a week in the beginning of the semester, but that changes to about 2 later. He always makes nice comments on assignments. His exams are so easy because he gives all questions before to write out then copy and paste. He always sends out announcements to prepare us/remind us.
I recommend Professor Streipe to those who are taking POLI10. He is very lenient; however, that doesn't mean you can slack off. Regarding his assignments, write a detailed case study paper to make things easier later on when taking the midterm and final. Lastly, I suggest finishing the course paper early and getting his feedback for a better grade.
Straightforward class, once a week reading, quiz, and case study which can take a good amount of time to do. 1 course paper which I would highly advise you to do early. 1 midterm and 1 final (timed) but he gives the question bank ahead of time so you can just copy paste your answers. As long as you put in the time and effort, you will get an A.
He sets everything online you must get books. Pretty much everything you do is straight from the textbook. Your writing paper is the big majority of your garde. Very helpful and response to his email I would take a second class with him
Gives questions before the exams so you know what to expect. All quiz questions are from textbook. Super clear grading and criteria. He said if you fail you’re basically dumb ha. Super easy to follow and cut corners if needed
Amazing professor! Passionate about what he teaches, which make the lectures 10 times more engaging.
He stutters non stop he just can’t talk you’ll learn nothing from him you’ll have to do all your own work to learn
Professor Striepe is an amazing teacher who offers so much guidance and clear instruction for his courses. He offers helpful and relevant material that always leads to success on the tests, quizzes, and assignments. The class modules are organized and packed with interesting, productive material.
Professor Striepe is an amazing teacher who provides detailed instruction for all assignments, quizzes, and tests. His course modules are organized and are loaded with relevant and productive material that makes completing assignments simple and enjoyable. He gives great feedback for all assignments and is a quick grader. 10/10!
I took Professor Striepe's Polisc-150 and it was a clear, easy to follow, and light load course. There are weekly quizzes and one homework assignment every week with four exams. His tests are not difficult and he grades very quickly. I would strongly recommend taking any of his classes!
Professor Striepe was a very easy professor to work under. He gives great feedback and responds to emails quickly. His class is very straight-forward as long as you put in the work to give it 100%. Good luck to everyone who is thinking about taking Professor Striepe's class!
Lots of reading and homework, but manageable. The tests are writing, and he gives you a week before the test to get your answers ready and then you copy and paste when you take the test. Takes notes and write a lot on the case studies and you'll do great. I really enjoyed this class, and he is always eager to help and give you feedback!
Expect a few MCQ's and a case study (~25 sentence paper) a week. If you hate writing, I would reconsider. Otherwise, this class was very easy for me. He is lenient on case studies, only checks for completion. Also, he is a kind, caring teacher with an interest to help. Overall, if you think you can take on the writing, this is an easy online A+.
It is an honors course so expect a lot of papers 1 case study a week. It was manageable even w 12 other units so 15 in total. I think the topics were interesting, the textbook was offered free, and Professor is nice. He gives good feedback and quizzes are all vocab directly from the module.
A very easy quiz and a case study every week, plus two exams and a course paper. The professor is very helpful. The open note exams can be very challenging if you don't follow the study guide. All questions are in the study guide, and the professors will provide links to find the answers, which is a blessing. You can learn a lot from this class!
He's alright. Only the work he gives out is insane it's like he wants you to consider his course as one of the toughest. He makes a simple 3 unit course feel like a 4 unit with all the reading and writing you have to do to pass.
you have to read 8 books, do about 7 papers, one of them being 7 pages minimum, 32 short answer questions, 13 case studies that are like the short response questions, 15 easy vocab quizzes, and around 14 discussion posts. If your're taking OVER 15 units I wouldn't recommend. too much writing and high expectations are placed.
This class is a lot of work that you can easily fall behind in. He grades easily, but there's a weekly paper and quiz + a 7 page essay. However, he gives you all of the resources for success, you just need to put in some effort. I would definitely take Poli1H instead if you don't like writing though.
Though there is a lot of reading and homework involved, Professor Striepe is a master at allowing you to go at your own pace and teaching you the fundamentals of the course. I personally liked how I could read the material and then use his key points to fully understand the focal points of the class. A lot of work, but goes by quickly and easily.
Professor Striepe is a very easygoing professor for Poli-10H. The class is very easy, as many assignments are easy to understand as long as you do the readings. Furthermore, the multiple choice quizzes are easy since the definitions are listed beforehand so you can study for it. The paper is time consuming, but I knocked it out in about 5 hours.
I really struggled with the 2 quiz's as his minimum word requirement was very high for the amount of time he gave us. The paper final paper also took a really long time to write. Out of all of the honours courses I have taken this was definitely the one with the highest workload and difficulty. But he is a very passionate Professor and good person!
I loved Prof. Striepe, his course was extremely well-planned and easy to grasp the material. He is a fair grader, and he accepts late work without penalty. Though it may seem like there is a bunch of assignments, they're not difficult, just a bit time consuming. Overall, I recommend him 100%!!
Professor Striepe's POLI10H class is manageable if you put in the work. Lots of reading and writing, but he provides good resources and feedback. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for study prep. Overall, an engaging honors course if you don't mind the workload.
There is a lot of reading involved in this class. Do not delay your work, and take efficient notes. The quizzes and case studies are due on the deadline, no exceptions. If you have a lot to manage outside of school, look for an easier course load. This professor prepares you very well, and he will teach you lots. You need to have dedication though.
Professor Karl Striepe is a fair professor. There is an abundant amount of homework, quizzes, and discussion boards, but they are all fairly straightforward. The only issue I had with him is that he never clearly tells you why you missed out on points.
