Awesome lady! Know her study guides and homeowork for tests and you'll get an A.
Overall awesome professor! Made each lecture and class interesting, which isn't the easiest thing to do for economics. Lots of problem solving exercises in class which help for the tests. No surprises on tests which is nice. Study and you should be fine, her accent is pretty cool too
Best Macro professor UT has. She is an excellent professor who cares about her students. Tests are easy due to the review sheet she gives before every exam. Take her if you can
She is a great professor, no suprises in the exam, she makes everything clear, if you can do the Pre-Test you will get an A in this class. TAKE HER you wont regret it
Love the Mathematical approach to economic theory in this class. She really makes it simple for every student to understand the process and gives lots of exercises(handouts,in class exercises)
BEST PROFESSOR . ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT YOUR WORK AND HAS A PASSION FOR LEARNING AND HER STUDENTS.
Dr. Borja is the best professor I have had! She has great class discussion and could not better prepare you for exams! There are no surprises and she offers a lot of extra credit to give you a cushion on your test! Her grading is extremley fair and she truly cares about all of her students! Take her you will not regret it!
She is strict about how she wants your work to look but if you do it right, you can get at least 10 points of extra credit for each test. (You have to show up to get the extra points though). Overall, she's very fair and tells you exactly what problems are going to be on the test.
Great professor overall. Always willing to negotiate. She wants all of her students to pass and is very excited about the course. Amazing professor, would love to have her again.
Overall she was good. She gave a lot of extra credit opportunities but some just weren't worth it. Some would be a lot of work for very few points. The class was pretty good and she was very helpful, though sometimes it could get confusing.
Not a good professor! She talks way too fast when giving lectures. She gives little to no opportunities for extra credit. If you typically find yourself asking a professor to slow down and repeat something, she is not the right professor for you! You will have to read over the material in your free time. Tests are fair, but not much help from her.
She's so passionate about macro that she makes it her mission to have you do well. Extra credit work is given for every exam... a minimum of 10 extra credit points; keep that in mind. She's confusing and her tests are a little tough but do the homework, extra credit and see her office hours if you really need to and you're set. She's also adorable.
Is a great professor. the class is heavy in math. can be strict . but, is an easy grader. gives extra credit alot. you have work for your grade. highly recommeded
Very nice and helpful but VERY TOUGH GRADER. She gives very long online Homework and VERY LONG online quizzes. Tests are not hard but not easy. The amount of information is WAY TOO MUCH. If you miss a deadline forget a second chance.
Don't let my rating scare you. Dr. Borja is not going to spoon feed you. You are going to learn a lot and have to work for it. She is always there to help, but you have to do the work. She doesn't expect anything less. One of the best teachers I've ever had.
Dr. Borja is one of the worst teachers I have ever had at the University of Tampa. She does not teach any of the material and expects all students to know how to complete all the course work on their own. Hours of homework required outside of class and you can submit for extra credit only if you have it formatted exactly how she wants it.
This class is full of algebra that looks like chinese. The graphs she makes us do are fairly simple but everything else is like a foreign language, probably one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. She speeds through everything and doesn't explain things thoroughly.
Dr. Borja expect you to know the material before coming to class. She does not lecture, she only answers questions that students have, so be prepared. She gives you homework and quizzes that must be done before coming to class. Her tests are based on the homework problems. She gives extra credit, but you have to do a lot of work.
Professor Borja was not entirely terrible, but you will probably leave the class being more confused than you came in. She isn't clear and isn't helpful if you email her about homework. Going to office hours are basically useless, but you can pretty much teach yourself the material. She offers tons of extra credit!
I thought she was fantastic! (She comes off as a hard ass at first, but don't let her fool you.) If you're willing to participate in class and put in a good effort, it's an easy A. Definitely have to do the homework- the hw is very similar to the tests. It was an interesting class. I learned so much!
Borja is the reason why I changed to an International Business and Economics major. She makes her class extremely interesting, and she makes sure that everyone is understanding the subject and material. Extra credit is hard to receive but it helps to prepare you for upcoming tests.
She really knows her economics but will teach the class at a fast pace and expect you to keep up. Gives homework most days. Has three tests each worth 25%, so if you don't test well or whatever, it is hard for you to pass the class.
Explains very well and makes lectures interesting. However, she gives an impossible workload. Most homework are only graded as extra credit. She gives WAY too much work, so if you have a job or other hard classes DO NOT TAKE HER!Very harsh grader, if you do not have everything formatted EXACTLY how she wants, you will be penalized.
She adds so much work on top of the syllabus so if you do not show up to class you will miss all the extra assignments she expects you to do. She is a tough grader and doesn't explain anything, she expects you to learn everything on your own before you come to class.
Prof. Borja is a professional and respected professor. I took the ECO640 class with her and she was so patient and friendly. She is always there to help, inside/outside the class, exams were so clear and close to the booklet problems and HWs, you will not be surprised on the exam day. Work hard for the extra credit, it's worthy believe me.
Expected to teach yourself out of class which is frustrating. She does offer a lot of extra credit but it is virtually impossible to do most of it because it is so much work on top of what you already have to do. If you can study and learn on yourself you'll be fine but I dont recommend.
Must follow her format for problem solving or you will not receive a grade, quizzes given almost daily(hw, in class, and online). No lecture, must teach yourself and then do practice problems in class. Study guides for chapters and power points are less than helpful and have led me to more confusion than explanation. Unenjoyable class experience.
Prof. Borja is a very good professor, she is somewhat organized and gives a lot of extra credit. You need to be on top of it, be prepared before class otherwise you will feel lost. But if you do what she suggests ( study guides and class problems) you will pass and get a good grade.
If you prove to her you are a good student and mistakes such as missing a few homework assignments or one bad test grade doesn't represent you as a student she will work with you to give you the grade you both believe you deserve. Can be a tough class but Prof. Borja is as fair and caring as they come.
Went to all her office hours, showed her how much I cared and was about to quit the class the last day we were able to drop classes. She told me not to and made a deal with me about test percentages to make sure I pass,. I ended with a CD so close to a C and she wouldn't bump me- IT WAS A SUMMER CLASS REMEMBER! Don't reccomemend her
Mandatory attendance because she gives quizzes on the chapters, which are very hard. Exams are fairly straight forward. Incredibly disorganized so keep track of due dates yourself. Contradicts herself on stuff like extra credit all the time.
Communication style: Scattered. She knows what she wants to communicate and the next few points she wants to make. Between her brain and her mouth, everything is jumbled and you are left piecing together an information jigsaw. The structure is unnecessarily complicated. Anal about formatting. Knows her stuff but frustratingly anal.
No lectures. Makes you buy her workbook which isn't easy to learn material from. Gives EC but it's not even worth the 10-15 sheets of paper you waste for 2 EC points on your overall grade. She may not even give you the EC btw. Doesn't know how to teach, wants you to come in prepared but her book is not enough to learn. She needs to learn to adapt.
Everyone who gives bad reviews are people who just expected to breeze by. If you are willing to actually do work, she makes the class super interesting. She does not ramble and lecture, she instead makes things very interactive. She's super funny, quirky, and engaging. Will make you fall in love with economics and respect the topic better.
Case studies are complex and very boring. Very rude and not empathetic. Does not dress professionally.
this is by far the worst teacher I ever had at UT. She makes everything very confusing and she knows very little about the class. I did not learn anything from the class I had to teach me all the materials. If you have the chance do not take macro with her unless you had a very good micro teacher.
If you want a good grade in this class just do the work. I understand why some people do not like her because of the amount of work but I actually learned a lot in class but again it was like 6 hours a week of work outside of class.
Borja is one of the worst professors at UT. She repeats the exact same speech about how following her instructions is the only way to pass for the first 20 minutes of every class . Her emails are short and rarely answer your questions. Worst of all she cant admit when she's wrong, her mistakes will cost you your grade.
She is by far the worst professor I have ever had at UT. She expects you to teach yourself the new material before each class and on top of that do the 15-20 question HW that takes hours due to the amount of detail required + MConnect assignments. Quizzes or Tests EVERY CLASS. If you are 5 min late she will count you absent. Do not take her!
If you have anything else going on in your life don't take this professor. Serious, I will Venmo you not to take this course at grad level. Homework due 5 nights per week and it's worth virtually nothing. Doesn't teach in class, but expects you to watch her videos outside. Class participation is doing two extra assignments in addition to your hw...
She knows what she is teaching but sometimes it may be difficult to understand. She really appreciates students who put work in and will reward you for that. You will not pass if you skip class because every in class assignment is considered a quiz grade. Overall the class isn't super difficult but she could have clearer grading criteria.
Borja not only disrespects her students by coming to class unorganized and unable to remember her own due dates. She piles work on you as you enter the class every time on top of the 15 hours of work she already gives you. Doesn't answer questions or take responsibility for her actions and frequent and confusing mistakes. Rude rude rude lady.
Even if you get an A on all the HW she assigns, it does not matter because the grade is based on the 3 tests. She assigns more work during class on top of the hours of work she already assigned, and it all amounts to nothing. I have seen her roll her eyes and just ignore questions from students in class. Rudest and toughest professor I have taken.
First off, you can barely understand her. Second off, she gives too much work that is unbearable and unnecessary for any student. She does not help students when asked questions and she is disrespectful. Exams are huge, if you fail more than two then you are screwed.
She is by far the worst professor I have had at this school. She expects you to teach yourself all of the material, there is no lecture at all. Classes consist of applying the material you taught yourself and quizzes almost every class. She expects you to know the material perfectly when you had a day or two to learn it. I do not recommend her.
This is the worst professor I have ever had. She does not lecture and you have to teach yourself everything. She assigns so much classwork, and homework. You have a quiz everyday. The tests are on Sunday nights which is awful. Attendance is mandatory if you want to pass the class. This class was the hardest thing ever. DO NOT TAKER HER!!!
Professor Borja gives out quite a bit of homework, but it really helps you grasp the concept of economics. Her booklet you have to buy is really helpful, too. She goes over everything thoroughly, and I would recommend her if you want to understand economics!
She uses the "flipped classroom" style which is great when executed properly. If you have any semblance of a life outside of this class, good luck! Each chapter=25 hours outside of class for grades that =
She has a significant amount of spelling errors and things that make no sense. Her power points are missing important details and she does not post the zoom meetings if you miss them even though it is an asynchronous course. Her syllabus, blackboard, and emails all say different things regarding test times so it gets confusing. I would not take.
she is the worst professor i have had in my years here. IM SAVING YOU NOW DO NOT TAKE!!!! she is rude and makes backhanded comments as well as a horrible teacher. I completely teach myself everything. i leave class confused as fuuuuu but i can teach it myself so yes the course isnt too hard but she will make it a living hell
Please, do not take this class. This is not a knock on her ability because she is very knowledgeable about the class, but there is nonstop work. She doesn't have an understanding that her students have a life outside of her class, as well as other classes they are taking. Save yourself the time and take any other class.
Save yourself and do NOT take class with this woman. You will seriously regret it.
she actually is such a bad teacher and doesn't care about your outside life whatsoever. just save yourself and dont take her please idek what else to say she is so exhausting i leave class everyday with a headache and im really not a bad student
If you put in the work and go to Borjas class she really is not bad. If you get over a 90 on the homework she gives you extra credit on the test. She allows you two attempts on each homework. She does not waste your time or money by lecturing and shows you actual examples to help you understand instead of memorize.
She does not teach the material, you need to teach yourself everything. She goes over stuff but goes off on tangents. If you aren't willing to spend 5 hours at minimum a week on this course don't take it. Content is very hard but she does give extra credit for grades over 90 and gives two attempts on everything. In class assignments are too random.
The WORST professor I have ever had. Not only was she super hard to understand she was so rude/mean. She could care less about her students. There's a quiz every class and she has unrealistic expectations for the class. AVOID her class at all costs. Tests were extremely hard
It seems like most students rlly love or REALLY hate this prof. If you're not a homework person, this isn't the professor for you. I'm usually a fast worker, and I was still spending 4 hours a week on HW. However, the tests are just like the HW & she drops one. Basically, if you can handle a lot of HW, it's not a hard class. But it is a lot of work
I couldn't tell you why her rating is so low. There's a lot of homework which is the only bad thing I could think of, but the homework was very helpful and I understood everything much better with it. She lets you use your notes on the exam so I'm not sure how one could struggle in this class. I would take her if you don't mind putting in the work.
Really hard class but I really loved this class and professor Borja. I learned so much in this class and she was available to help. If you do all the homework and study you should be fine. Open notes test so take good notes and do all of the extra credit assignments.
Avoid this professor at all costs. To this day I do not understand why she has a job.
STAY AWAY! I have no idea why this women still has a job. She moves extremely fast and does not care to slow down (if you dont understand it, thats on you). She is super hard to understand especially for an econ class (language barriers). Makes you feel dumb & will call you out or make a face when you are in class if you missed the class prior.
Does not teach you anything. Is a "flipped class style" as she calls it. You teach yourself everything before walking into class and then do work on it, so if you didnt teach yourself you might as well not go. Has in class activities but puts the grade for them in the last week of school so you dont know how much it'll bring you down.
Literally nothing else to say but THE WORST PROFESSOR YOU POSSIBLY COULD GET. Stay away from her. She doesn't even do her job and makes you learn everything on your own outside the classroom because it is a "flipped learning style". .Like isn't your job to teach the content? She needs to be fired.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! She is very bad at giving constructive feedback she just tells you to look at the online PowerPoint and lecture videos if you are confused. Yells at students in class when we are just doing the best we can trying to balance all of our other courses on top of this class. Very inconsiderate and not mindful in our effort
RUN! she's the worst professor I've had at UT.
Definitely do not take this professor. I worked very hard in her class and it was still one of these worst experiences. She is very inconsiderate of the amount of work you put in and unreasonable. Also her reasons for not giving points on activities are insignificant and doesn't relate to my understanding of the work.
Borja is by far the worst professor I've ever had at UT. She doesn't teach in class. Expects you to watch her videos and go through the powerpoint to teach yourself before class. You actually need to spend at least 12hrs outside of class every week and I'm a fast worker. There is just too much homework. The tests are similar to the homework though.
Absolutely horrible professor! Does not teach in person (online videos that are not helpful). The amount of work is absurd and impossible to do every week (around 12+ hours OUTSIDE of the classroom). She is not accountable for her own actions and expects everything to be perfect to her standards, for which she NEVER gives clear instructions.
not the best teacher, dont recommend. expected to learn lectures outside of class. worksheets are very specific and SUCK she Is not very considerate either
This professor has no concept of student's time she told me I shouldn't work while in school. Refused to let me retake an exam when an emergency happened and gave me a zero on an assignment because my computer is broken and I can't make a video so I met all other requirements for the assignment and told me to just buy a new one and gave me a zero.
Really good professor... Just kidding!! She was horrible, not even sure why she still teaches.
Avoid at all costs
Professor Borja's course was definitely one of the hardest courses I've taken, but her office hours are the reason I finished with an A. GO TO HER OFFICE AND COME PREPARED. Look at the lecture slides prior to class, fill out your notes, do the practice problems. It is totally possible to do well if you try!!! She's a tough cookie but really cares.
Never take a class with this professor.
This teacher is extremely particular on how she wants you to do your work. She constantly gives quizzes that marks your correct answers as incorrect. She knocks points off for checking your phone, and when I asked her why I cannot write my paper in the way that works for me, she claimed that she is the client and I must do my work how she likes it.
Don't take this professor at all... Find someone else to learn this
horrible professor, she is incredibly specific on assignments and will give you a 0 because something is not formatted correctly. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. WORST TEACHER EVER HAD
Her class is run terribly. There are 3 LONG outside of class quizzes per unit (50-100 questions), and they are due on weekends. These quizzes always have spelling errors, and there will always be a question that will mark you wrong, even though it's right. There is also a long assignment due every class that must be done in the most particular way.
I don't know why she has bad ratings - if you do the work/keep up it's the easiest class. Tests all are extremely easy if you somewhat pay attention and do the notes beforehand. She also has real-world experience and shows us how we can apply concepts into our own lives. She lightens the classroom with her humor and is an amazing professor overall
Her tests and quizzes are easy but her lectures are long and repetitive. Tries a reverse classroom, however, spend an hour of every class going over the lesson that we were supposed to teach ourselves. She uses the full period to do things that could take and hour max. She can covey the material clearly sometimes, other times is just a mess.
Save yourself and don't take her. She expects you to know the entire lesson before coming to class. I can tell she's extremely smart and is very passionate about Macro, but she expects you to know everything she knows even though she has been studying Macroeconomics for 15+ years. Just don't take her.
Genuinely the worst teacher I've ever had. Doesn't know how to teach and expects you to teach yourself. Goes super quick and writes very sloppy. Doesn't let you take notes in class because you're supposed to teach yourself all of the material and do multiple assignments before the material is taught. Contradicts herself every single class.
If you can't take another teacher just take the class the semester after she doesn't teach expect's you to know everything you will need to work 12+ hours a week and i'm a fast worker also good luck if you have any emergency i handed her a doctor's note and showed her pictures of me in the HOSPITAL she said it's not my problem and took point off
DO NOT TAKE IF YOU DON'T LIKE ECONOMICS. She loves what she is talking about but honestly doesn't know how to teach. Just goes through the material and doesnt connect with the class. Big accent and writes sloppy. If you have anything late, or miss something, don't bother with an excuse, you wont get points back. Only good part is open note test.
