This is not a class where you can slack off and still do well. Sister Nielson tells you what's going to be on the test (vocab, illustrations of furniture, time periods etc). I was really interested in interior design and this class ruined it. Class is POINTLESS but still mandatory or points will be taken off. Usually talks about unrelated topics for the majority of class and then shows a bunch of slides that don't help. Each test review is over 1000 concepts and terms to study.

Sister Nielson is an amazing teacher. Although there is a LOT of information to be memorized in the class, her passion for interior design makes it interesting. I learned many day-to-day principles in her class and would recommend this class to anyone!

Sister Nielson is probably the best professor I've had at BYU. She is honestly one of the smartest people I know, she knows SOOO much about Interior Design. I loved this class. Anyone who disagrees is crazy. If you are a good memorizer you will do great on the tests. Take this class!

This class was kind of insane. Sis Nielson is very VERY passionate about the subject; she talks 100 miles an hour and doesn't stop the whole 90 minutes, and the tests are IMPOSSIBLE unless you can figure out the way to study. Don't take this class hoping for an easy A.The subject matter was very interesting, and I got a lot of great ideas from it.

Sister Nielson has been my inspiration at BYU. She loves what she teaches and she teaches with passion. She tells you exactly what you need to study for the tests and if you are willing to do the work you will get the results you want. She is such a sweetheart and I have loved taking her classes.

This was such a good class and Professor Nielson is amazing! She can do anything and she is always there to help you with assignments or with anything else. The assignments are fun, but can be time consuming. You won't regret taking a class from her!

Sis Nielson is awesome! Class discussions are not only informative but inspirational. Although her syllabus is organized, her exams need revision because they were sometimes confusing and the answers were arguable. But she is so invested in her students that she will do anything to help you prepare. The class was so practical and was a blast!

Sis. Nielsen has hit her stride. A lot of the comments in class were stereotypical and in some cases offensive. I found the class to be boring and unhelpful. I would have just skipped class except attendance is mandatory. I would not suggest taking this class. I love interior design, but this was more than a crash course with 120-160 question tests

She talks too fast to understand. The tests are absolutely ridiculous. Since she wrote the textbook, she believes EVERYTHING in it you need to know. 4 exams. Weekly busy work assignments. You have to attend class to turn in work & receive it for points. If you walk out early, she will call you out in front of everyone. Have fun!

Absolutely ridiculous workload (four or five tests of 120-160 questions each), felt like I didn't learn much practical, and honestly in my single one-on-one experience with her, she was rude (and I'm not one to be easily offended). Unless you're obsessed with interior design and have no other real classes, don't take this.

She's an energetic, opinionated and passionate woman, for sure. Entertaining as well. But jsyk...SO MUCH MEMORIZATION FOR THIS CLASS. SO. MUCH. Flash cards are a MUST (printinCAEDMlab ;]). Study EVERYTHING that's bold in the book; she doesn't do study guides. Attendance is mandatory. Weekly assignments are admittedly busy, but can be kind of fun.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS/PROFESSOR. YOU WILL REGRET IT. Any other class for this GE is be a better choice. Tests are 165 questions, and unless you legit memorize the textbook you will fail. I am a straight A student and assumed this class would be fine as long as I studied. FALSE. You must memorize the text book. Weekly assignments are time consuming

This class is a HUGE information dump. You are expected memorize types of furniture and know what time period they're from. She goes through about 100+ slides per class, and sometimes she won't spend more than 1sec per slide, but the information will be on the 160question test. You will retain only 1% of the information presented to you.

Super energetic professor. She was willing to let me make up the classes that I missed due to surgery. There is a lot of memorization and you really have to use the book. Assignments every week, but not horribly hard. I really enjoyed the class! Just wish that I could have retained more info because she jams through it. Not impossible though!

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. All the comments are true. Tests are all more than 100 questions, she talks WAY too fast and makes sometimes offensive or ignorant comments in class. Also you get points taken off your assignments if there are crooked lines (even with a paper cutter). Tons of busy work and LOTS of slides, and goes WAY too fast through them.

I'm a senior taking 400 and 500 level classes and this class was the hardest of my semester. Too much information expected she doesn't realize that not everyone has passion for interior design that she does. Lots of busy work. Attendance is required even to get points for assignment. DON'T TAKE unless your crazy and have 1 class.

I really loved this class. I learned a lot form prof. Nielsen. The tests are long, but if you study they aren't bad. She gives really good reviews. Most of her test questions come from the book. She is one of the most interesting and fun teachers I have had at BYU. I looked forward to her class every time.

I really enjoyed this course. This may be in part because I really liked interior design to begin with. Sis. Nielson knows so much and shares so much that it can be a bit overwhelming at times.Still, I found class to be usually enjoyable. Tests are extremely predictable and easy if you carefully read the study guides and the book.

Great professor, so down to earth and loves life and families! She is difficult in that they questions on tests range from 130-165. Buy the textbook! It is your saving grace. Study it like the back of your hand. Go to class it is helpful to hear her lectures. And I mean "hear" them, but take simple notes. Great teacher! Loved her class!

Super hard class. Homework is really nit picky and class is really uninteresting. Tests are super demanding and LONG. She wrote the textbook and expects everyone to be at the same level of interest and knowledge as her. Fulfill your arts GE with another teacher/class and avoid stressing about interior design.

This class is really hard, especially for a GE art fulfillment. She wrote the textbook and expects students to have the same level of excitement and interest as she does. Tests are very long and difficult. I rarely got 100% on simple homework, because her TA was so meticulous. Take the class from someone else or a different class.

I recommend only taking this class if you have to. Assignments are busy work and time consuming. Part of your grade depends on your cutting and gluing abilities, resulting in unhappy students and a negative classroom atmosphere. She is a good person but not a great teacher. She is not always respectful of her student's opinions or time.

Do yourself a favor, AVOID! She knows her stuff, but the way she "teaches" is not worth it. She has a PPT every class with usually 75+ slides, and she never finishes on time, and talks about 10 miles a minute. Tests are murder with usually 160 questions (we had 3/4 in one month alone). Assignments are busy work and she grades HARSH.

I have to say that this was the worst online course that I have taken. You can't contact the professor directly & there is no real way to clarify anything. Also, the study guides for the midterm and final (only exams) are (refer to chapters _-_). A lot of information is expected of you, almost too much. It's not all the prof's fault but the schools

Grades are not organized or evaluated clearly. For an online course it's outdated and clear she wishes we were using glue and scissors. The assignment grading is written both in the syllabus and the assignment outline but neither are clear! Too much info per chapter while no focus on importance. Never clear in feedback. Not open minded for design.
