She is a good teacher,but you have to study to pass the class.She is very helpful and will assist you in any question you have and gives you a lot of extra credit.It is true the class goes fast,but there is a lot of material to cover.If you read the book and come prepare to class,you will be fine.She has some accent but it is nothing to worry about

Dr. Villatoro is ok. Only thing is that she is only my temporary professor. When she lectures, she tend to have a strong accent that makes the students hard to understand her. However, it's all good anyways, She loves to talk to me. We talk to each other after class. She is very nice and friendly, I shake her hand after class to let her know.

To begin her accent is not bad @ all she speaks english real clear. The thing that isnt so great about her class is that she rambles on & on with her power point presentations.As a person she's great(brings us treats).Her test are hard and multiple choice with xtra credit.Homework most of it's done with games on the net.Gets back to emails ASAP.

Really easy class if you've done anything with Environmental before. Not much to learn, most of everything is stuff from High School. Power Point presentations get dull quick, extra credit on tests is really easy. Hardly any accent, easy to understand.

Man are your a dotor or either a student. This teacher is hard, doesnt explain well, and has a latin accent. One the first test she gives you a picture of a cell and gives you one minute to label it. and her multiple choice are 80 questions long. TOO HARD. Doesnt explains in details

Ms. Villatoro is a good teacher, but she does give extremly rough exams which are timed and not enough time for you to really think the question over. Your lab test is timed you get about a min per question as soon as the times up you have to move to the next desk w/new quest. she does give extra credit which can really improve your grade.

Science is one of my worth subjects ever and I got a B in her class. Do the labs which you may take home (don't put them away for too long), 4-5 tests, extra credits are available. Class gets easier towards the end of the semester since it's not as detailed as it is at the beginning. So don't give up even if you failed the few first tests.

She has wonderful assets--er, she IS a wonderful asset to the school.

She is a really nice professor easy to talk too. She's funny as well. I personally believe her tests are a little long there's A LOT of information to study (no study guide) for just one test it made me feel extremely overwhelmed since i was taking 15 units.

She is an amazing professor. She loves her job and she's really good at being clear and helpful. I took her class in the summer & it was great! Her grading on the labs was fair and her exams were not difficult at all. Just study the lecture notes and labs, & you'll do fine. I never even used the textbook, so don't buy it, unless you REALLY want to.

I took her this summer-- we had a lab/activity every day (so attendance is a must!) I never bought the book but did print out her notes & annotated. She can be a little arrogant, but gets the job done. Pay attention in class, do the labs & ask questions; she's willing to clarify as long as you do your part. Extra credit-friendly.

I really enjoy her lectures. She keeps things simple and straight to the point. Bio is never been one of the things I consider as a major but after taking the class I was very much interesting in all the interesting fact you learn. Overall she is an amazing professor. loved Mrs. V, only reason I didn't give her a 5 on interest is because it was zoology. Not the easiest class there are a lot of things to memorize but Mrs. V keeps it fun :) take notes on lectures and do extra credit. I missed like 5-6 classes and got an A and never even bought/ looked at book. I just studied my notes and her power points.

What an amazing professor. Print out her notes online, show up to class, study your notes, and you'll ace her tests. Offers A LOT of extra credit. Always willing to answer questions. This is not her first time teaching Bio 101. She was an excellent professor, the whole class got along, and she explains the material so well. She is there if you have any question, seek help. This is a major course of course it's going to be tough, you have to put your effort into it don't slack off. This course does move fast so don't miss a day.

Bio 101 material just takes some extensive studying that doesn't make the teacher a "hard" teacher. She makes the information digestible. She teaches the relevant stuff and makes you learn things that are applicable to the environment around you. Extremely approachable, understanding, and kind. I don't look at the environment the same anymore.

Her lectures and power points are important! Make sure you preview them before class ;that way, you will have much better understanding during the lecture and come up with Q's! She loves when you ask Q's. Go to her office hours and make sure you know every single details on the ppt's and lecture stuff for the tests. Work hard, you can do it

Honestly, she is one of THE BEST professors I've ever had. The class is a majors class, so do expect it to be easy; but it is defiantly do-able. DONE slack off;DO put the effort in b/c it will definitely be worth it!Also, she is a GREAT deal of help during office hours too!!Some advice: record the lectures and go over them. I recommend her :)

GO TO HER LECTURES! ASK QUESTIONS, she is very patient & wants you to do well. Print lectures & take notes b/c exam reflect them - but asked in various different scenarios. BIO is memorization, esp the LABS, so make sure you start studying at LEAST a week and a half in advance. Office Hours - ask for concept maps or charts to help you study.

I took professor Villatoro Bio 10 class last summer, it was a fun class. I recommend you to print out the hand outs from her website and actually take notes on them. Also make sure you know what to do for the labs, labs are pretty easy but they will show up on all test. The test are divided into two sections, lab and material learned in lectures.

Bio 101 is a weeding course. Expect it to be hard. Expect it to have a bajillion confusing words that you need to learn in a short amount of time and not use it for future classes(unless you are a bio major). Bio 101 is designed to test if you are smart enough to move up to the next class. Prof V is nice and and good teacher. Slides are online.

I had her for Biology 101H 2017, Was a great class, the best, amazing, would take again, caring, amazing lectures, inspirational, A+, Biology, no textbook used, mandatory attendance in terms of its an honors class and wouldn't be cool to just not go, level of difficulty is dependent on how good you are at reading slides on your own time for hours.

I took Bio101 its a very difficult course over all. Villatoro tests are supper difficult!!! You have to study a lot or you wont pass! She gives out mini quizzes for mainly worth 5 pts based off of homework in which you are given questions and either have to read an article or watch a video (easy points) you can use the hw questions.

She's a really good teacher if you pay attention in class. I took her 6 week course as a high school student and it honestly wasn't that hard.

Wow, she is rated this low. I don't think she is that hard, it's all up to the effort you make. A lot of the grade is based on if you want to pull your weight. She has exam study guides and concept lists for every exam (and the lab assessments too), plus she gives extra credit. If you really study with those resources, you CAN get an A. Or a B. :)

This is a fun class! Biology 101 focuses on Eukaryotic Organisms: Protists, Fungi, Plants, and Animals. One main tip is to focus on the unique characteristics of each phylogenetic tree. Professor Villatoro is a down to earth and a knowledgeable, helpful professor. She is approachable to answer questions you have about the class and makes lab fun!

I took the honors class and she has plenty of notes, quizzes, barely any homework, 2 projects, and plenty of labs. I needed to go to office hours to get a better scope of how I perceived information, I had a hard time correctly understanding information during lectures. Overall she is a good teacher, just study constantly.

Prof. Villatoros ratings are so ridiculously low, theres no explaining it. She is a FANTASTIC teacher, willing to help as long as you go in for office hours and show interest. Shes motivational, kind, and really funny as long as your class encourages her being more loose. Truly one of the most fun classes Ive had thus far. Highly recommend!

Villatoro is one of the best professors I have had. Most of the negative reviews are clearly from people who expected to do little work and receive a good grade. She cares and will go out of her way to make sure you understand the material as long as you seek her out for help. Yes you will work for your grade but news flash thats the stem life.

Her lectures are a lot of pictures and video links. In class, she will show you the videos to watch and what from the pictures you need to know. Best bio teacher I've had! She keeps you busy but it isn't busy work. Quizzes every other week or so, they're 5 questions, super easy, no way to fail without not trying. She's kind if you seek out her help and participate. The test pack a real wallop but i got through them by just cramming tbh... Would've been an easy A if not for the 1st test!

She's really passionate about her work and shows in her lectures. You don't have to go to every one. Not saying there's no work. If you put in the work and engage with her, you'll definitely get an A. She cares, so if you are struggling in the class, she will help you.

Villatoro is a really sweet professor who wants to help her students pass. She can be really funny sometimes as well. The class isn't too hard as long as you put in the work. There were lots of short quizzes (like 5 questions) in the beginning of class, but they are based on videos or short articles that she links online, so you can prepare easily.

Really enjoyed her. A lot of very short quizzes but they're super simple & easy. Learn the slides & lab handouts & you're basically set. She does occasionally go over videos on the slides that you need to know so go to class. Offers lots EC opportunities with every exam & an aquarium visit assignment at the end of the year.

Prof Villatoro knows her subject inside & out and truly cares that her students understand. She made biology so fun & interesting, I would def recommend! You know you have a great Prof when past students stop by all semester to see her! She cares about our future & went above & beyond by talking through pros/cons of many decisions outside of class!

Professor Villatoro's tests are fair- all the questions come from info on her lecture slides and what she says during lecture (I highly recommend recording them bc you probably won't catch everything). She really cares about her students and knows Biology very well. Definitely a professor I would come back for and visit!

The class involved: (1) lectures & labs; (2) Mastering Bio HW & modules; (3) online video HW; (4) lab assignments; (5) group project; and (6) optional extra credit assignment. Not gonna lie - it was a ton of work. But I learned a lot and actually fell in love w/ biology thanks to Prof V. She knows her stuff, wants you to succeed, and will help you.

More like a 3.7 Bottom line: she knows her stuff and you WILL learn if you do the work. PROS: good office hours, well-structured lessons/hw, teaches well, sometimes allows notes for exams, no txtbook CONS: TONS of Hw, some tests can be hard (uses proctorio), sometimes gets mad in class messages She's a good prof. Gives some e.c. Would take again!

Heres the breakdown: lecture videos every week ( 1-2 hours each) plus labs and several discussions. Exams (on Proctorio) were based on the lectures, but I read and took notes from the textbook too. (Try to rent it!) She taught concepts fairly well and replied to my emails quickly. I learned a lot, but self-studying truly carried me. Good luck!

Get ready for the workload! The workload made it difficult to grasp the units. She is not a harsh grader though. The exams are a bit tricky, make sure you write good + detailed notes. However, Professor Villatoro is super sweet and understanding. She is always willing to help and has office hours every day (take advantage of the office hours)!!

Professor Villatoro is a great way to go for biology. She does assign a lot of work, but the work is not hard it is time consuming. Tests are based off of her lectures or labs there really isn't any surprises on the tests. She is very accessible outside of class so go to her office hours if you need any clarification on any topics.

Villatoro gives a lot of work but her grading is not too harsh. She does not give a cumulative final and lets you use your notes during the tests. Lectures are usually an hour, and there are about 2-4 videos a week. She at least gives 2 labs a week as well and a discussion. She has office hours almost daily, so use that!

Her lectures are long from 1-2 hrs and she gives A LOT of hw. If you are taking her class make sure to keep up with her hw, she gives you a week before they are due, otherwise you will fall behind. She is clear on her directions and her tests are easy if you watch and study her lectures. Her tests also take material from the labs.

Currently taking BIO 120H for Spring 2023. Ignore ALL bad reviews. Most people do not like to do work. She deeply cares and empathizes with the students needs. Yes she is work & lecture heavy but the work she assigns really helps you as a study guide for her quizzes and exams. Her passion for biology is contagious!

Villatoro has a superpower of creating paper since her labs are 30 pages long. She wants her free response very precise. Make sure you have a laptop because she forgot COVID ended and she puts her test on canvas (yes, you do the test in class on your computer). Otherwise, she's nice and is very approachable.

Her class isn't as bad as many say. Students are just lazy now a days. Labs and assignments are very straightforward and simple just a bit time consuming during the first 2 months. Quality work into your assignments will carry over into the quizzes free responses, I promise. Yes, you need to study the lecture and lab material for the quizzes.

I had a poor experience with bio in high school, but thanks to prof V I've learned so much. She is nice, funny, understanding & all of her assignments are straightforward & doable if you put in the time. I'm glad I chose her class. She is very flexible & you don't get points off for late assignments. I've learned a lot from doing her labs as well.

Professor Villatoro's Bio120 class has a lot of assignments, but she's flexible on deadlines. Labs are straightforward, and Unstuck study proved really helpful for exam prep. Overall, a solid class if you put in the work.

Great teacher, makes sure you are learning everything you need to learn. There are four major tests but she allows cheat sheet . A lot of group work which means work you can split up. All in all, would take again, only downside is the lab are a lot of work but you definitely need to complete them because a lot of information will be on tests.

As a person, she's very caring & compassionate, you can tell she loves biology & teaching. Hands out snacks/fruit at the one hour mark of teaching. However, she covers A LOT of material that will pop up on the exams. Therefore she allows 2 pages of cheat sheets and can get points back from the exam. It's a STEM class, don't cry about the workload

She's an amazing, caring professor. The only downside is how long the labs are and how challenging the exams can be. I same short of an A because my cheat sheets lacked depth. Thus, include detailed info and memorize/understand the basics. You can earn back missed exam points and a opportunity to get 2% grade jump via extra credit. Tough but doable
