Pretty clear and concise during lecture. If you have a question, she's always willing to help you out. Usually, she explains things at a simple enough level to where you can understand it even if you aren't really a math person. My only problem is that she has this weird quirk where she always talks like she's about to laugh. It just bugs me.

Stat 100 is a super easy class and it is almost impossible to not get at least an A. Laska is pretty boring to listen to, and we end up writing down the same thing multiple times in the notebook, but the class is very easy, so not much to complain about.

Easy class don't need the book unless you want to fill it out for extra credit. But it does help explain stuff if you don't go to lecture. Homework is on Lon capa and there's 3 midterms and a final.

Karle is amazing! Even if you're not a math person you can do well in this class. I've found that stats is actually very useful in real life. You do have to do weekly homework and go to lectures to understand what's going on, but I promise Karle makes Stats great. Definitely not hard to get an A.

Karle Laska is my favorite professor at U of I. She is very clear and concise and is always thorough in her teaching. She offers an insane amount of extra credit and iClicker points. I hate math, but she made me want to pursue Stats 200 next semester just because she made 100 so enjoyable for me.

Karle is incredibly nice and is engaging to listen to. She is one of the nicest teachers I've had and is always available to her students and makes sure we understand the material. The course packet has practice exams, and TA Rachel gave reviews of previous exams which were really helpful. These reviews are optional but she gives good hints too.

Go to class to get bonus points. She offers so much extra credit. There is a good amount of homework but it is easy. Easy class overall.

If there is any professor to take STAT 100 with, it's her. She's seriously amazing. If only all professors were as understanding and helpful as her. She gives extra credit, gives clear directions, takes great notes, and does not try to trick you on homework or the exams. Best class I've ever taken by far.

Exams are easy as long as you can memorize formulas and apply them to different scenarios. Karle is hilarious and you should definitely take her if you need to fulfill that Stat100 requirement!

There're a LOT of extra credit opportunities to boost up your grade online with pre-lectures and the completed notebook. If you need to take STATS 100, definitely pick her class!

There is weekly online homework on Lon-Capa that is pretty straightforward. Lots of extra credit available. Highly suggest filling out the incomplete lecture notes because it is very similar to exam questions. Go over past exam in the notebook and you will be set for all exams. Highly suggest taking STAT 100 with her. Sidenote: She is pretty cute.

REALLY REALLY REALLY EASY A+. Just review your notebook once and do one or two pass exam before each test and you will get a really high score because the test are basically identical to the pass exam. Super easy, and give a lot of extra credit.

This class was pretty easy. Show up to lecture, do the homework, and study for the exams and you should be good. I suck at math and got an A. Her and her TAs will always answer your questions. She is super sweet too and tries to make lectures interesting.

Karle Laska is my favorite professor so far. She is genuine and loves teaching. It's easy to pass as long as you follow along during lecture and study up a little before the exams. Literal favorite part is looking at survey results in class. Best. Ever. She's just great. Recommend her class highly! She posts lecture videos as well in case you miss.

Karle is super bubbly and keeps the class's attention even though the class is super long. She does a great job of explaining but if for some reason you don't understand something, she offers a ton of office hours!

Homework isn't too bad, it's on lon-capa and if you get stuck read the comments or ask for help. 3 exams and a cumulative final. Fun and easy class overall!

Super easygoing, funny, and explains things in a simple manner. STAT100 is an easy class, even for someone like me who doesn't like math at all. You have to buy the notebook but it will be your holy grail. DO NOT buy the textbook, waste of money (she said so herself). So much extra credit, it would be hard not to get an A or B.

This class was insanely easy. My one complaint is that the professor went so slowly through every single example, which may be good for some people, but felt like a huge waste of class time (and therefore the money I spent on that class time). A 1 for difficulty means "show up and pass" but you could probably pass without showing up, honestly.

STATS100 is known to be an easy class, but if you don't keep up with the homework your grade will suffer (2 assignments (mandatory) & 2 prelectures (bonus points) per week). It's easy to tune out in class because Karle repeats concepts and goes slowly through content, but if you pay attention it makes it easy to memorize concepts for testing.

STATS 100 is the best choice you can make if you'd like to take more math but aren't ready for something like Calculus. Karle is a fantastic teacher. I took her class online (which I highly recommend!) and go to her office hours semi-frequently. She is super helpful and sweet.

STAT100 is an incredibly easy class. By attending lecture and participating via I-Clicker there are many extra credit opportunities. The old exams are very similar to the actual exams, so make sure you know how to do all the problems on them before going into the exam.

Karle Flanagan is the best math professor I have ever had. I HATE math classes but her class made me consider picking up a Stats minor. Attendance in class is extra credit, filling out notes is 30 points extra credit, taking surveys is extra credit, there is basically no way to fail unless you forget you're taking the class. Highly recommend.

Karle is an excellent teacher, I would definitely take another class with her if she was teaching any higher level statistics courses in the future. Her methods of teaching introductory stats is more effective than that of previous intro to stats professors I had at other schools. She uses a nice custom workbook with the course that is helpful.

karle is a great professor, she makes lectures interesting, offers a lot of EC. however she grades the notebook strict; missing even 1 question on 3+ pages gets a 0. this shouldnt be a problem if you fill it out completely in class, but most likely you will have to grind on it a bit out of class, so make sure its 100% done or its not worth the work

Her lectures are incredibly thorough and make the homework easy to do. Her subject isn't the easiest, but she's just that great of a professor. She makes sure that students are ready for her exams, and easily fluctuates to accommodate uncommon situations (COVID-19). I've never seen a teacher care as much about education as she does her subject.

Absolutely amazing professor! Due to the pandemic our class was online. Lecture videos are recordings of her actual lectures so you still get what you paid for. You use Lon Capa, and she gives easy extra credit opportunities that will boost your grade up to 5%! You are told to buy the workbook but I just took notes instead. Class was open note!

I literally love Karle and I was an online STAT 100 student. She is so nice and accessible outside of class. She offers so much extra credit and gives 3 practice exams to do if you choose. Not only does she explain how to do the problem, but HOW to do the problem. She is amazing. My favorite so far. Exams aren't too bad if you watch lectures!!

Karle is so sweet! Honestly, as a freshman just starting out in college, Karle has really helped me adjust. Her class is amazing. It is taught very well and follows a guided notes format. I havent actually been to a lecture since August. I took statistics in high school so I may be biased, but you dont need to show up if you understand it.

Amazing professor. Really wants to see her students succeed. She really made me feel comfortable about college especially this being my very first semester. She also makes statistics really easy to understand and explains very well. 100% recommend her course!

Absolutely deserves her place as top professor on here! Lectures are super thorough and understandable. I never liked math of any kind but learning through Prof. Flanagan was so easy. Work is all relevant to notes, lectures are clear, and she offers great resources. Definitely take her class if you need to cover a related credit.

There is a reason why she is the #1 Rated Professor at UIUC. Super easy class and so many opportunities for extra credit. If you fill out the notebook ("textbook") and do the homework, which takes about 15-30 mins, it's an easy A. Tests are easy as well. Super nice teacher overall, and you can tell she really cares for her students.

Karle's a great person and a great professor! It's clear she wants you to succeed and gives plenty of opportunities to do so. There was plenty of extra credit as well - for example, through iClicker (in-person), research opportunities, and filling out your notebook completely. A great choice for the Quant I requirement, plus you learn stat basics!

Karle was the best professor ever, I 100% would love to have her again! She is an amazing teacher, no filler work for homework it is all things that will help you and it is never too much. This was my favorite class this semester and I am so happy I took it!

Although math isnt my best subject, the class was manageable especially with Karle as the instructor. Shes super kind and was always ready to help. Theres a lot of extra credit offered as well as practice exams available to help study.

Amazing teacher, if you have any questions, she will respond quick with email. This class has lots of extra credit, will add at most 5% (!) to your grade. Definately recommend.

I am awful at math and she made stats a very easy class. I never felt awfully challenged and managed good grades. She is great at what she teaches and explains everything clearly.

she's very sweet, not sure if its just me but I would've preferred in class examples to be like the homework and exams were. the first two I struggled with and the third is still being graded so idk but she lets you miss one exam (not the final tho) and also offers a LOT of EC and drops like 2 or 3 of ur work hw grades so that's nice.

Although there is a lot of homework in the class, it is incredibly helpful to your understanding of course content and prepares you for midterms and finals. Karle is an amazing professor who always tries to help students understand the course material. This is one class where I think I will remember what we covered even after the semester ends.

This is by far my favorite class ever. The teacher is THE BEST. She is the sweetest, gives SO much extra credit, and the grading is very chill. I loved the teacher so so so much.

I loved Professor Flanagan she is so knowledgeable on Stat material and is always during office hours if you need her. There is a ton of extra credit almost enough to bring your grade up by 5%! Take this class if you need a math requirement, easiest math class I have taken in college so far.

She's great! Can't think of anything she did wrong. Advice when taking STAT 100: Do NOT procrastinate even if the class is easy. I waited last minute to review for exams since I thought the class was easy, but when I studied for the final, I had a hard time understanding the last concepts taught in class. EC can increase your overall grade by 5%!

Karle is one of the best professors I've had while attending UIUC. She is attentive and explains things in a way that's easy to understand for everyone. Even if you struggle a little bit, she holds plenty of office hours and provides lots of Extra Credit opportunities.

I love Karle and one of my fav professors that actaully cares about her students getting a good grade by the end of the semester. Despite it being a huge lecture, the TAs were very helpful and helpful with any questions on the homework.

Very warm personality. I was nervous it would be hard to fallow in such a massive lecture of so many kids but she explained things very comprehensively as someone whos not to great at math.

The lectures are clear - the textbook is cheap and useful. There are a LOT of extra credit opportunities and the midterms are SUPER easy. Exactly from the homework. Attendance is graded for the discussions, but most are anyway. Plus, there are really consistent office hours which made this class that much easier and more accessible.

This class was easy and interesting I highly recommend. Karle is an amazing professor, she is always in an upbeat mood and truly cares about her students. The tests use the exact questions from the practice tests and you can take the practice tests an unlimited # of times so its easy to get an A on the tests. The lab sections can be long and harder

Hands down one of the best classes at UIUC. Super easy gen-ed too. She offers so much extra credit, and there's only 3 exams in the semester plus a final. Super accommodating to DRES students. 10/10 would take again. If you are in person and are sick you can watch the online classes videos to catch up.

She always has a positive attitude that made me continue to keep attending her lectures and always understood students' circumstances. She makes class interesting and fun. Very sweet and easy to talk to. The TAs are amazing as well and have helped me a lot. They have office hours every day which is amazing and helpful.

Karle Flanagan is the best. Lots of opportunities for extra credit and as much as I disliked the course content, she made the experience very enjoyable.

Karle is a professor who was a vision for the department of statistics with a focus on data science to prosper. She is encouraging, fun, and inspirational. The lectures are full of valuable information, and the structure of the course is really aimed at making you well-versed in data science by the end of it.

Once you use the stat100 notebook, you'll get a great grade. I have an average of 92 in the exams. The professor is rlly nice, I literally love her. She's so nice and caring. The lectures are super clear. And the practice exams in the notebook are almost the same type as the actual exams. Strongly recommend this class. Again, I rlly love Karle!

Karle's class is organized, structured, and easy to follow through. You need a textbook and it is a great tool to prepare for midterms and the final (and she offers extra credit for completing the textbook!). She offers a ton of extra credit throughout the semester. As long as you attend/watch all the lectures posted on Canvas, you should be good.

SO accessible outside of lectures, so many extra credit opportunities and homework is actually prep for what will be on the exams. Is caring and wants to see you succeed. Karle is amazing! She's accessible for students who've never taken stats before. GO TO OFFICE HOURS! I can't stress this enough. I would have gotten a higher grade in the course if I went to office hours more. Do all the practice tests and extra credit, then you're bound to get an A.

I absolutely love her. Her lectures were amazing and so helpful. They were videos when I took it(fall 21), but a lot of effort was put into them. She was so good at explaining things and she and wade are very entertaining so it was a bit fun watching them. Homework and tests were overall pretty manageable.

Professor Karle was a very kind, enthusiastic professor. She always clearly explained everything in the lectures. The homework and exams were both done on prairie learn, so it was easy to study. She worked hard to make the course as engaging as it could be.

The high rating here is justified. Karle is a great lecturer who genuinely cares. Ample extra credit is offered and she hosts professor office hours once a week in addition to TA office hours. You'll complete a practice exam with that pulls from the same question pool as the CBTF actual exam. Do it enough times and you'll get 95%+.

Dr. Flanagan is the best! She provides lots of extra credit opportunities & homework practice that help for the exams. I studied the old practice exams she put out and found that to be the most helpful for getting a good grade on the exams. She's also very friendly and there to help during office hours if needed.

Professor Flanagan is amazing! There are plentiful ways to receive extra credit and you can boost your grade up to as much as 5 percentage points--extremely beneficial! She also posts old tests to study for upcoming ones. To guarantee yourself an A: attend/watch lectures & complete notes, do the HW, and study for tests. You get out what you put in.

One of the best professors I've had so far. Her class is extremely well organized and lectures are always informative. While you still need to put in some work to get a good grade, she offers a ton of extra credit so it should be fairly easy to get an A. Highly recommend!

Karle was a great lecturer and I learned a lot about intro level Python and statistics concepts. The homework is all online, there's a weekly lab that you work on during your lab section, two projects, two midterms, and a final. The tests are all taken in the CBTF, and there's a lot of extra credit opportunities! An easy A class that's 4 credits!

Professor Flanagan was truly amazing. I took the online section of the STAT100 but wish I took it in person. She is an amazing person who goes above and beyond for her students. She makes sure everyone understands every small bit of information. I am hoping to work with her in the future due to the impact she had on me during this class.

The format of this class makes it very easy for everyone to succeed, even in the online section! She gives a lot of extra credit, and the exams are very straight forward.

This class was very easy, so if you know Python and data frame coding, it will be kind of boring. The lectures were nice, but they were dumbed down heavily for beginners, so it was a pain to get through all of them. Lots of online resources and a good enough workbook to use. It is still introductory, so there's a lot to be improved.

the professor was very understanding and fun to engage with in class. you have to be on top of the lessons but it is very straightforward otherwise

No issue with the course itself, but both professors incorporated Taylor Swift into every lecture and assignment; it made me as well as other students uncomfortable. It's fine to have interests, but to make that interest an inescapable subject that every student in your course has no choice but to address in each assignment is a lot.

Take this class

Karle is a great professor and makes the stat part of STAT 107 simple. STAT 107 is one of the best classes on campus and it is a must-take. Lectures were optional and there were lots of opportunities for extra credit.

For this course, the python required was clearly shown in lectures, but lectures can also be viewed online on their website. The python was basic level, and used the pandas library. If you've taken a programming class before you won't struggle. Similarly, the statistics used in this class are very introductory, similar to AP Stats. Good class.

Stat 107 was the first co-taught course I've ever taken and it was so well taught and interesting.

Stat 107 was my very first college class and it was by far the best class I have taken so far, the course staff is amazing and the lectures are very easy to follow. Assignments are easy to navigate as they mimic the examples done in class. Overall this class is super interesting and there's a lot of extra credit opportunities!

Engaging lectures, helpful professor, and lots of extra credit make this an excellent class. Unstuckstudy AI was a game-changer for study prep - highly recommend it alongside the free textbook.

If you're a psych major thinking of taking either this course or the psych specific one, trust me and everyone else in the reviews, take this one instead. Extremely easy to follow lectures, with topics that will actually help you later in life as well. Also, extra credit literally all the time! Flanagan is the GOAT!!!

Karle is honestly the best college professor I've ever had. At office hours, she makes sure to make things clear if you don't understand. She has such a great personality but you do have to work for your grade. There are a decent amount of extra credit opportunities. Easy class couldn't say anything bad about Karle she really is the best.

I loveeddddd her. I took Stat 107 which was outside my major but required for my minor and she made me want to take more stat classes because I enjoyed it so much. The exams were somewhat difficult but they give she gives you every opportunity to succeed.

Took STAT 100 this semester with Flanagan and was one of the most well-structured class I've taken at UIUC! As someone who isn't that good at math, the lectures are very straightforward. The practice exams and homework are a great resource to do well on the exams.

STAT 100 with Karle has to be one of the best courses to take at UIUC! It is very organized and easy to understand if you put in the work. Utilize the practice exams and homework assignments to review for any of the exams. As someone who is not the best at math, I was genuinely very interested in statistics after taking this class.

Amazing course and chemistry with co teacher Wade. They have created an incredible course with plenty of extra credit, as well as great lectures. Homework is free points. Projects and labs are concise. They have brought Illinois to the forefront of data science. Also Karle has a Barstool endorsement, so that shows how great she is.

The lectures were engaging and I thought information was presented in a very digestible way.

He is really good, and has many extra credits opportunity.

Amazing professor. Always willing to improve. She brings a lot of positive energy to lecture and office hours and always has a smile on her face. Much less intimidating than Wade, but I think that's what keeps the balance. Also course materials are under $10 and there is so much supplementary material available. And sooo much extra credit!

Easily the most interesting class I've taken. Great environment and prof is so sweet. even if you don't show up to a single lecture you will still be able to get an A. hw is very helpful and make sure to study practice tests A LOT. also make sure you have a great lab group, and understand the labs because the hw for 207 are lab difficulty times ten

She and Wade are so great for STAT107! They're both super passionate about the field and lectures are genuinely enjoyable and interesting. The class does have quite a bit of work, but the way the homework/labs/projects are formatted makes it really engaging so this class never felt like a lot. They also offer a TON of extra credit opportunities.

Professor Karle and Professor Wade were a great duo. They made the lectures very engaging and were often available outside of lecture time. The practice exams they assigned are very similar to the actual exam, so if you have any test anxiety, I'd highly suggest doing the practice exams.
