She is ok. she makes a lot of mistakes and has students correct her all the time. the only good thing is the practice tests she gives are very close to the actual tests.
her class is pretty easy as long as you go to the review sessions. you have the opportunity for extra credit, but you have to go out of you way for it. She speaks english!!!!
This professor might speak English, but she is very hard. I would always ask her for help, but she would be so RUDE. It's as if she wanted me to fail or something. She may be a good teacher, but her exams are bad.
if math is easy to you take her...if not dont...her exam questions are those equal to the easy questions that are assigned for each chapter in the book...she doesnt do the best job of teaching the material because she suspects everyone just understands...out of the 5 exams you count 4 towards your final grade so you can mess up on one of the exams
RUN while u can. might speak english which is hard to come by with math teachers here, but she is HORRIBLE. she expects you to know the material, goes over explainations quickly, her tests are much harder than the practice tests, and if you have problems with any internet math programs, you better figure it out yourself, she wont help! get out now!
As long as you attend class and pay attention, anyone with primitive comprehension can do well in this class. She gives you well-written, typed notes and you follow along while she teaches the material. I've seen harder tests in middle school. McKintosh is very clear and will clear up any discrepancies. Almost TOO easy, sometimes painful.
this teacher really sucks. she needs togo back ro teachuing school. i really tried to leran but it was impossible with the amount of material that we were expected to know for each test. i really feel that if we had les junk on ecah test i could have done better. if math is not your subject you should run away now. she is extremly horrible.
You can do well in this class if you learn the material on your own. I absolutely suck at math and I got a B+. Just do the practice quizzes online and you basically know everything that will be on the test. SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT SHE IS TALKING ABOUT IN CLASS. She makes lots of mistakes but at least she speaks english.
This is absolutely the worst teacher I have ever had...lets just leave it at that... The lady has no clue half the time about anything and makes you study material that isnt on the exam
really nice teacher... don't know what you all are talking about... she will help whenever u need it, and will bump ur grade up if she sees u care and are trying. i deff recommend her, compared to other math teachers I've had!
If you wanna do well in this class read the book...She is so...Out there. It'll save you alot of time to just learn it on your own and go to help sessions.
I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER AT ALL, SHE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN THINGS, SHE AVOIDS QUESTIONS WHEN YOU ASK DURING CLASS AND THE WORK SHE GIVES HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT SHE TEACHES IN CLASS PLUS HER VOICE IS THE MOST IRRITATING VOICE YOU WILL EVER HEAR.
i really dont recomend her... she grade u by the time that u have to do homework, not because what u know about the subject... i did very good on the exams, but i almost failed because i didnt have time to do all the homeworks... her cellphone ALWAYS rings, and sometimes she ANSWER IT
She is a horrible teacher! She doesnt actually teach you anything, your better off just looking online through the book! Make sure you do all the homework, or you'll do bad in the class. Dont bother asking questions either, she doesnt help you at all! If you can take another teacher do it! She also sounds like ben stein, which is so annoying!
finite math should not have even been a hard course, but she was such a bad teacher i did poorly. i did all the homework, but the tests are out of the blue questions that didnt make any sense, just like her lectures. SO BORING, find another teacher if you have to take finite.
DO NOT TAKE HER! horrible teacher. does not explain things at all. the only way I even passed this class was from what I learned in the TA groups. avoid her class if at all possible!!!!
going to the lectures are pointless, just look in the book and attend the TA sessions. she gives you a "practice" test before you actually take the exam and if you only study those questions you will at get a high B. Her voice is annoying and she is a horrible teacher, but its possible to get an A in her class if you are willing to give effort
this lady is good at math, but absolutely horrible at teaching it. do not take her if you can help it.
I'm not gona lie, she has a super annoying voice. The lectures are not mandatory. If you are good at teaching yourself, and you do the homework (which you should b/c it counts towards your final grade) and go to the mandatory TA sessions, you should be fine. But don't rely on her to teach you the material b/c she's not that great at explaining
Most annoying teacher. Cannot concentrate during lectures because of voice. The lab which occurs on tuesdays are the only class you'll ever need to attend. Simply a scatter-brained, alienated, unproductive teacher.
She doesn't care if you pass or not, no matter how much you try to communicate with her! Email reply is horrible!!!!! I do not recommend her as a teacher!
She's not the best prof, but you can pass her class and do well. Go to her lectures- she does examples from the book. Go to the mandatory TA sessions & ask them for help if you don't understand. Do the homework from the book and study for the exams (there are practice tests on the math center website). Just work hard & put in some effort!
The subject material seems easy at first but dont think all of it is easy. I started not going to the lecture classes and I got behind and had to teach myself some of the stuff.
dont do it unless you understand her code language... made a B in it without studying... but thats not unusual for me... DO NOT TAKE her finite class, in sure you can find better, oh, and she sounds like the guy from denace the mennace...
Awful, looks and sounds just like Roseanne, has no clue what she's talking about. Don't bother going to lecture except for tests. If you take her, you better be able to teach yourself out of the book. Go to the TA sessions to get credit for worksheets. Use the math center website to review for tests.
She has the most annoying voice in the world. She doesn't really help you when you need it. Half the stuff she says doesn't make sense, but she does post lecture notes and has power point lectures, which are ok. Not the best. Find someone else if you can.
Not a bad professor, but if possible choose another one. classwork, homework, practice tests counts for grade. Not difficult to get an A but you must work for it. You learn more from the TA and the book then from the professer. Goes very quickly through the lecture since.
I took Calculus in high school but I can not even understand anything she teaches. This information isn't hard, the TA even teaches better than her. She gives you old exams to study and the problems are so easy, but when you take the exam it is nothing like the old exams and much harder, you have to go to class because of the clicker quizzes.
this teacher is really awful, she is rude and embarasses her students in front of the class. the only way you're gonna get anything out of the actual class and not teaching yourself is through the t.a. sessions since she cannot teach worth anything.
This teacher is not the greates, but she makes an attempt to give you all of the knowledge and tools you need to succeed in her course. She even gives you old tests. The material is a piece of cake. Attendance is only mandatory on "TA" days. She makes you get a "clicker" however, there have been no posted grades for this.
Didn't like the course, but it filled math requirement. She organizes things pretty well and it's obvious that she tries to make things easy for students; with such a huge class it can be difficult because of all the morons. From what I hear, one of the better/easier teachers of Finite Math.
Boring. Doesn't care about her students. Makes no effort to help you or make the subject any less difficult. The material isn't that hard but she was unbearable. clicker questions are tricky and can mess your grade up in the end. Don't take her if you have a choice.
She never has a calculator and half the time makes a mistake in her counting and the students have to correct her. She is boring to listen to and she talks in circles. She seems like a nice woman, but she just isn't the best teacher.
She posts notes online. Tells you most test questions during the lecture class. Test questions are usually same as clicker questions. Lots of office hours and always willing to help at end of class. Unfortunately, many students are rude and dont pay attention in lecture hall.
Well it was math and in a lecture hall...very boring stuff. The good thing is that she gives you notes and old tests. She tells you what is on the tests and speaks English!!! It was easy to get an A with minimal Homework.
You have to go to class. She gives points for worksheets, homework and clicker quizes. This can replace 1 test. Unfortunately there are NO makeup tests even for a good excuse. She says you have to use work points to make up the test. Make sure you attend class and get these points because she will not make any exceptions.
teacher was OK. You get reviews for tests. Make sure you do all homework. She collects it and counts to your grade. Has lots of office hours and will help if you dont get something.
The course was much easier due to extra credit and clicker questions in lecture. Karol is very descriptive and breaks down the problems well so that everyone understands
I was looking forward to an easy A. The class is way easy, but the professor is frustrating. I personally can't learn from her at all and I would have preferred to take the class with a different instructor.
I thought this class was going to be easy but I ended up having to teach myself most of the material as McIntosh isn't very clear in her lectures. The notes are all online and the book is helpful.Tons of clicker quizzes (even though they dont help) and opportunities for extra credit. If youre not good at teaching yourself, take a different teacher.
I loved math before this class. She gave us pointless worksheets to study from and the tests didn't match the notes.. she says to study the group work and you will do just fine. Only if by fine she meant 40-50s! OH and she ALWAYS makes mistakes in class. The students have to correct her constantly! it's garbage!
The professor was very rude when people asked questions and made them look dumb. The class is very easy though, the home works and group works help a lot.
She posts all notes and always stays to answer questions. Gives lots of extra credit chances. Posts grades on blackboard so you know where you stand.
It is terrible taking a math class in a large auditorium. I always sat near the front because many students talk and are rude in the back. She does lots of examples and tells you wht is on the tests. Pay attention to the problems she says are important and you will get an A.
She was not a bad teacher at all. The class is easy if you do all the homework. She even tells you the exact kind of problem that will be on the test. She is a weird teacher, but why should that matter. The only think I worried about was getting an A on her class. The rest is not important. She is available to help if you dont understand.
Everything is clear in terms of expectations and homework. There are no due dates changed and in those terms, she's not bad. If you do all of her homework when she assigns it, the class isn't difficult. However, her tests match lessons taught very loosely and t.a.s would routinely call out corrections to questions in mid-test.
Expectations were laid out at the beginning in the syllabus and there were no deviations. This is both good and bad because she is inflexible but you know what to expect. If you do all the work, it is easy.
I normally dont do well at math but did good here. She will help you at the end of class so always stay and ask your questions. The clickers are dumb but make you pay attention. Friday night tests stink and no Makeups! Its probably 1 of the easier math classes overall and Ms. Mcintosh acts like she cares and tries to help you learn.
I want to say first of all that this class is VERY easy. The syllabus is very clear and the TAs are helpful. BUT this teacher is horrible. I have to take Excedrin every time I go because her lectures has to do with her screaming at the class. Also some of the students looked fresh out of high school so the maturity level is way too low. take Burgo
Teacher does not "scream" but immature students tend to be noisy. She has to ask the TAs to stand up and make sure students dont talk and act disruptive. Sit in the front of the auditorium to not be disrupted by rude students. The class is too big and many students dont want to be there. She uses clickers for a grade so you have to go to class.
She gives you notes which are good to use for studying. You have to pay attention. She does lots of problems and makes you do with clickers. You learn as you go if you try during class. She always stays to help at the end of class. I wish that help sessions were not required. They are a waste of time with the TA but count for grade.
She is so unfair!!! She sticks to the syllabus and will not make any exceptions even for good reason. Every one is not the same and some of us deserve extra chances. If you miss an exam, she will not let you ever take it late or early. She wont even take extra credit late if you were sick.Expect to follow her rules.
I've never been good at Math, and I already can't stand lecture-style Math, but this class - is a nightmare!!! She makes so many mistakes, yells at students, gives too little time for clickers. If you take MGF1106, take Hopf! I learned from my TA more than I did from her. To this day, Math is still my weakness. Might have to take it over.
I am not a math fan, but I am not bad at math. This woman makes someone who can do math not be able to di it anymore. She presents the material one way, and then tests you on it in a different way. I an very dissapointed that I took her, and would urge everyone I know plus their brother not to. I try to be fair, but honestly, she just is terrible.
I am not a fan of large classes but felt that Ms. Mcintosh did a good job overall. She organized and presented the material with detailed notes that were useful for studying. She always posts grades quickly so you know where you stand. She also answers all questions. Overall, the class was too large but I sat in the front so had no problem.
She means well but her classes are very boring and she speaks to you as if you're a 5 year old. If you ask for help she'll refuse to give it to you unless you visit her office before or after class. Gives TONS of homework. Even though the subject is easy for me I still had trouble because of her method of teaching.
I don't usually do well in Math but got an A in her class. The tests are directly from her notes or clicker questions or homework. She gives a lot of homework but doing it made me do well on the tests. Do all the homework and pay attention during her class and you will do well!!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! It seemed like 97 percent of your grade was tests, even though most of the work was homework. Her tests are only 22 questions and I feel like I didn't get to show the best of my ability. She does not teach, she just lectures to be done with it. She has no concern for her students and does not ask if anyone needs help.
The test questions are just like the homework questions. Professor Mcintosh seems to want to help if you dont answer a homework question right. I try to get her before class starts. She gives extra credit that helps alot and made me get a B and I don't usually do so good. You need to read her notes and pay attention for clickers to get it all.
Real easy class. If I can pass, anyone can cuz I suck at math. I failed first time then learned to go to class and listen. Thats all I did and I passed. Also sit near someone smart who can help with clickers.
She is OK, the main problem is that she seems to to get really irritated if someone ask a question during her explanation. Overall she is a little rude with students. If you are going to take her class make sure to read the book, because u will have questions on the test the she never went over in class.
overall she is good once you get used to her. ask your questions after class and she is very helpful. she will always make sure that i totally understand...even thinks of extra questions that i did not ask. Over half of the test questions are exact questions that we do in class or that she says is important and to mark that way in notes.
I had her for two classes for different levels, and dropped both of them. She is rude to her students, refuses to explain certain aspects, and expects everyone to bend to her ways. She is also very confusing when she teaches, as she gets her own answers wrong. Try to avoid at all costs if you can.
I got an A on the first test. This class is really good. If you go to class and study her notes, you will do well. She explains everything that will be on the test. She is quite patient with some of the jerks in class...I wish the class size was smaller.
hate her. half the time when she is doing an example we have to correct her! but she does put her notes on blackboard. basically study the notes. she always gives extra credit tests before the actual tests.. and some of the questions are basically the same. she has an annoying voice however, kind of like donald duck
My least favorite teacher this semester, does not do well explaining things and often makes mistakes while going over problems in the notes
Pay attention and do homework and you will do well. Tests are very similar to practice problems. She gives notes which help summarize the material. Her explanations and examples are very helpful. I was dreading taking math but ended up sort of liking it.
I never thought I could get an A in a college math class. If you do homework and study, you can get an A with this teacher. Her posted notes are good and her tests follow directly from the examples she does in class or assigns for homework. There are no tricks or hidden agendas...just straight forward questions that you would expect.
Extremely fair and gives lots of chances. Gives you a chance to drop lowest test. She gives points for homework and clickers that will boost your average. The worksheets also help bring up grade. Overall excellent teacher.
Class is VERY boring, attendance is not mandatory because the class consists only of taking notes which she posts on blackboard. The exams are not that hard if you do the study guides, but the clicker quizes are annoying.
I never thought that I would enjoy a math class but she provides good notes and always helps. Her explanations and examples are just like the tests. I ended up doing well!!
Overall the class was fair. Professor McIntosh posted notes on blackboard. I brought these notes to class and just added to them as she lectured. She always says"put a star next to this example" and tells us what we need to know for the tests. If you go to class and pay attention, you will do well.
Class was OK. Teacher was sort of boring but you always knew what to expect. She gives you copies of her notes which help for studying. Tests are just like class examples from notes. Study notes and get an A.
She treats us like babies...won"t let students sit in the back of room and complains if we talk. Class is pretty hard because she goes too fast and does not explain everything but then we have to knoe it for the test.
Oh my gosh..absolutely hate this professor...she's rude, mean, yells repeatedly and wastes class time. Taking this class over with someone else!
She's fine. She doesn't go out of her way to make the class interesting, but that's okay because the subject matter is laughably easy. Her voice was a little grating, but what can you do? There will probably be some bad reviews because some of the students in my class were obnoxious and basically didn't allow her to teach straight through material.
She posts all the notes online beforehand, which is good. However, she goes through the material way too fast and expects us to know what she's talking about. The TA's were good...thank goodness. If you such at math like stats and probability, just take college alg. Way easier. Her voice and expressions are annoying, but she's okay...I guess.
Of the 20+ professors I've had in my 3+ years of taking college courses, this is by far the worst professor I've EVER had. She has no regard for her students or their knowledge of the content and is completely unavailable outside of lecture. Definitely subscribes to a "not my problem" mentality. Avoid her class like the plague.
She was always available when I needed help and acted like she liked students staying to ask questions. She gives lots of extra credit and posts old tests. I failed with Hopf but did good here. I like the posted notes. Material was hard at times so do homework and get help. Sometimes I went to tutor lab but mostly to McIntosh after class.
This teacher is being really helpful with letting us retake a failed test to get a better grade. She is very organized and gives students copies of her teaching notes and extra credit for practice tests.
WARNING! DO NOT REGISTER FOR THIS PROFESSOR! Crappy attitude, horrible teaching skills, sounds like a dying animal, uncooperative, bitter, reads straight off notes, rude, ignorant, unenthusiastic, uninterested, useless. You are better off taking the course online or with another professor! Probably, no, definitely the worst professor I've had @ USF
WORST TEACHER EVER!! Pre calcules Mac1147 The problem with her is that she doesn't care about her students. I took an exam and got some questions wrong. She wouldn't let me see what i got wrong... People always correct her, and lots of times she wont know the answer to a question and make up an excuse and avoid answering it. Please dont take her.
You have to study for her test. She test you on the concept so she will no spoon feed you. She will fail you for cheating so dont do it. The clicker questions will stomp you but u can pass without them. jus make sure to study!!!!
The fact that she entertains questions like "How do you read a pie chart?" (Legitimate question) makes her a saint. Math isn't easy for everyone, but she is a great professor and will always try and help. She will preview near identical questions in clickers before tests. She won't baby you, but basic knowledge is required. Great respect for her!
