She is the worse teacher one can ever get. She doesn't know how to teach. She tries to be strict for nothing. I donno why we even have sadist teachers have like her. What is her problem? These kind of pathetic teachers shouldn't be allowed to teach. Please don't take her, unless you have too.
Kartika is very forawrd and can be intimidating, but if you ask questions with the same level of forwardness, you can get a dialogue started and learn a lot more. Her marking is a little on the hard side, but she just wants you to undertstand.
Knows her stuff. Really smart and will help you if you ask her. Be nice to her, she will be nice to you. Really hard marker of lab reports.
does not know how to teach. confusing, not helpful, hard marker, rushes you in the lab as wants to leave early
I had her for 1220 Lecture and 1221 Lab. I really Liked her. I f you listen in class she pretty much gives you the essay question. Her tests are Fair if you study hard you will pass.
Fun teacher, I haven't got my Lab report back. depending on what I get I'll change this rating lol. Overall a great instructor, straight foward and sometime could be intimidating. I hated my chem instructor, but this one makes bio fun!
She is not helpful, and when you ask her a question she answers in a mean way and it makes you not want to ask her anything else. She put down our class more than once and doesn't seem to like her job which made me not like her class. She was nice from time to time but not often. Hard marker
She expects you to work as hard as she does. If you meet her halfway, her class will be much easier (although still a difficult class with a tonne of material).
She is a great teacher if you work hard. I had her for lab and she saved my ass. I learned so much from her. If she likes you you will do well!
doesn't explain things, hard to follow, must read ahead and teach yourself
DON?T take this class with Kartika! She gives no hints towards the long answer & then puts questions on the test that were barely covered in lecture. This is a hard course with lots of material to cover, but she expects you to learn EVERY objective. I'm normally an A student, but this course dropped my GPA despite spending countless hours studying.
i had kartika for both 1220 and 1221, i found that she really address the major points to focus on in the units which is normally the essay question. This is a though course, and every student cannot depend on only the teacher. She is really about pushing her students, but it is good because students need to be pushed in the class.Highly recommend
Most difficult teacher ever. Possibly likes when people fail. Really work hard in that class. She gives no help. It's all you and the points she puts on the test are the topics skimmed over.
HARD HARD HARD. She was very hard and difficult to understand and pay attention in class and when I did pay attention, it was about her and her family or ex husband. When u ask a question she will say "well what do you know" and will sit there till you say something right. Very diffuse and difficult to have as a teacher Heard she was a great in lab
The course itself is Very Hard and frustrating, she does not make it any easier. She tends to not focus evenly with the material that is very paramount to the success of this class.
Marks rather hard, there is no grey area either you know it or you don't. She is pretty good about re-evaulating marks if you could back yourself up. Little dull in class, and has high expectations of her students. As long as you read, and make your own notes as well as hers you should be good. Lot of material, not enough time spent on some areas.
quite helpful and nice as a person but i get confused when she teaches, prefer not attend class and study on my own.
Is a very nice and intelligent person though, she refuses to fully explain a concept if you don't understand. If you forget a step or something in your response is not 100% clear expect to get a very low mark.
She is a lovely person though, getting through her class is a challenge. Follow her lecture notes very closely and do exactly as she tells you. Try to get as high as you can on multiple choice as it is near impossible to get a decent mark on the written.
She is an extremely hard marker. If you don't explain the written the way she wants to hear it expect a very low mark. She usually never finishes the topics that need to be covered before an exam because she is to busy talking about stuff you don't need to know about or she is talking about herself. I would not recommend her
Not recommended at all. Just reads off the power points which is not helpful. If very hard marker and her exams with multiple choice are very contradicting. Not much support given to students. Does not seem interested in helping much
Kartika is a great teacher and is really interested in helping students achieve their best. She is a hard marker but if you put in the work you will do well. She is very knowledgeable and helpful in one-on-one sessions. Highly recommend
She wants to help students SO BAD that sometimes she goes outside of stuff you need to know. However, she has a great intention for you to succeed. She gives out additional stuff sometimes for you to study. She makes lectures sound hard but her tests are super easy if you studied. Overall, she is the one if you want A LOT of help.
Where do I even begin? If you are considering taking a class with Katika, RECONSIDER. I was so disappointed in her class. She takes the best material and sucks the life out of it. Her questions in class and on exams are unclear. Her classes are mandatory for one reason: no one would ever go. Do whatever you can to avoid a class with her. Seriously.
Kartija is very knowledgeable and In my opinion a good teacher. Do not use her as a reference when pacing yourself through the chapters. She usually spends a lot of time with the first chapters and has to rush to finish in time for the tests. If you study her test are reasonable, she will make you think. The writing part of her test are the hardest
Kartika is a really nice person and a fairly good prof but she gets really behind in class easily and spends a lot of time on useless material. Her tests are REALLY hard! If you don't answer written questions exactly the way she wants then you will lose a ton of marks.
I was warned in orientation to avoid Kartikas class and thought I would see for myself. She is a very caring teacher who would spend an hour talking in the hall with us after class to calm our nerves. She knows when the class is losing focus and takes time to clarify, study her lectures and objectives. Tests aRe tough but fair.
I wish Kartika taught all of my classes! She posts excellent notes, and that's all I studied from. She didn't directly cover all of her slides in class, but she spent lots of time explaining and reviewing tricky concepts. She made the class fun and interesting. Definitely take Kartika for BIOL 1220 and 1221 if you can!
Excellent prof, consider yourself lucky if you get her!
I've been to every lecture and noted everything she commented. It will seem like you understand everything once you're in class and while you're reviewing the powerpoints but her TESTS ARE DEADLY HARD, NOT STRAIGHT FORWARD, AND VERY TRICKY. For all her multiple choice its like the answer is in all 4 of the choices. She's a good person though.
Makes material that shouldn't be difficult, difficult. This class is the determining factor for tons of students sticking with the health sci major or switching over to general
Her exams are very hard. she is a tough grader. i would pick another prof if you can for bio 1221. I have a tutor and i do extreme studying, and im only pulling off 60% on her exams. no matter how hard you study, her exams are crazy hard, and she is the toughest marker i have ever had.
One of the best teachers I've ever had! She cares about her students and goes out of her way to use various ways of teaching to help you learn such as visual aids. Her lectures are fast paced but the push she gives you really keeps you on track. My grade went up 10% with her compared to bio 1220. Come prepared, ask questions & you'll do great
She doesn't go through all the material in lectures so there is some "self-study" involved, she will send out emails with instructions on what to go over before lecture, if you don't do the self study portions you'll be super lost. She lectures at a quick pace and tends to rush through the last chapter before exams so good luck trying to keep up :)
She was one of my favorite profs and made the class way more interesting. She was super willing to help or answer any questions that you had. Really important that you do all your pre - reading so the lecture makes sense.
I had her for BIOL1220 and the course itself is extremely difficult. She is very kind and willing to help. She wants to see you succeed. Her Powerpoints were very detailed and useful. Lots of self study as the course is challenging. Stay on top of the pre reading and the assigned questions and you can be successful.
Clear grading criterias but material is hard and Kartika fails to engage her students in class
Kartika is a very caring professor who knows her material. The tests can be hard but with work and solid effort anything is possible, went from a C and B on the midterms to getting an A on the final. Put your work into it and Kartika will help you get there. Final was a lot easier than the first midterm. Midterms are exactly what she says is on.
Kartika is a phenomenal teacher, but really this course is largely up to you and the work you are willing to put in. Kartika was available outside of class to help with any questions and appreciated when students engaged in class. The slides she makes and reads during lecture are pretty much identical to what will be on the exams. Would recommend!
Kartika is very passionate about her lectures. However, she is a very busy prof and often comes to class just on time. I would say attendance would be mandatory because Kartika focuses on what the essay question on the midterm in class. She teaches multiple sections and other extracurricular activities making her marking slower.
Avoid her class. Her lectures consist of her reading the powerpoint and clicker questions. When she tries to explain difficult concepts she is very wordy and unclear, making the concept hard to grasp, so be prepared to teach yourself. She is very behind, one time she actually finished teaching midterm content after the midterm.
If you don't learn well by reading the textbook and teaching yourself all the material, avoid Kartika. Her lectures are only her standing and reading off of her powerpoints and then getting the class to do iclicker questions where she just tries to trick everyone. She is almost always behind for content and then will speed through tough concepts.
Kartika was willing to go above and beyond to ensure that her students understood the lecture material. She has weekly open book pre-reading quizzes that were easy marks to obtain. The essay question for the term tests were pretty predictable - just pay attention in class because she'll often go into detail about certain topics.
Lots of people complain that Kartika stands up at the front of the class and reads off of PowerPoint. I have had a different bio prof each semester of bio and Kartika is comparible to the other profs teaching style. Its fairly standard and I dont find anything wrong with it. Hard work and self learning is mandatory for this class.
Kartika is very knowledgeable and caring towards her students. The course is quite dense and fast-paced. Expect to do tons of reading/studying. Kartika is great at making herself available to students outside of class and is very fair on giving students a head's up on what to expect on tests. If you can pass this course, you can pass anything.
Kartika is an amazing prof that cares for her students. She is always there for her students and genuinely cares for their well-being. You definitely need to work in this course anyways, but she is always there to help you along. If you get her as a prof, you're one of the lucky ones .
Avoid taking 1220, or 1221 with Kartika at all costs. She is rude to students, and offers no support. She is not a fair marker, and makes her tests unreasonably difficult. You will do a lot better in these courses taking them with anyone but her.
Biology is a tough course, and you need to work hard to do well. With that being said Katrika was a great proff, really accommodating and very caring. On top of that she is incredibly smart and a great lecturer. She is there to help you succeed you just need to put in the work.
Does not cover material important for tests, expects students to do all of the work on their own.
This class is hard. Kartika is approachable and caring, and I enjoyed having her for both BIOL 1220 and BIOL 1221. Her tests are fair, as long as you do the learning objectives. For the essay question, she'll make sure to go over the material for possible questions in class. Don't skip class even though attendance is not mandatory.
Kartika is OKAY, Biology is just hard on its own and you have to put in lots of work outside of lecture to get even a B. I can't blame kartika, she explains as best as she could
Overall the course is difficult, but Kartika helps to break down the larger concepts, while the smaller less complicated concepts tend to be self study via video lectures. She offers a lot of extra essay questions, summary questions of each chapter, etc to guide your learning. All in all you get what you put in
Bio 1220/1221 is a heavy course and I do think Kartika tries her best, she mainly focuses on topics she finds students struggle with the most. BUT, I I had to do way more self learning for 1221 with Kartika than I did for 1220 with a different prof. Also her ppts are useless, if you can get a friend with a different prof to send you theirs, DO IT!
Kartika moves through the content quickly & relies on video lectures to ensure everything is "covered," so course requires lots of self-teaching. Reads straight from the slides (annoying), but is able to expand/explain concept with real life examples. Tests were fair & questions often easier than the MC iClicker questions she used in class.
Kartika's lectures can be really heavy and boring, so you have to pay attention which can be really hard with online classes. To succeed, make sure you ask questions to clarify concepts because she isn't always clear. She also lacks some time management skills, but overall she's a decent prof as long as you're up to date with the material.
Very good prof. Made her self available at all times, and even dedicated extra time for class study sessions. She does post a lot of asynchronous content, so make sure you are watching that. Otherwise, if you go to class, apply yourself, and ask questions when needed, you will be fine.
Kartika doesn't really take students' feedback very well. I found she doesn't really manage her time well, as sometimes we would only have 30 minutes to talk about content. There are no huge assignments which is nice, just group assignments and quizzes.
Get yourself another biology prof. Shes a really tough grader; in her short/long answers for tests, she wont give you the mark if you dont have the specific key term shes looking for, even though you have the general idea down.
The course itself is very hard and requires a lot of preparation. Kartika has good concept knowledge and explains hard topics very nicely. Asynchronous recording are great as well. Overall, very fast paced course!
DO NOT TAKE KARTIKA! avoid her at all costs. She does not know how to manage time and gets mad at students if we ask questions and she's running out of time even though she encourages it. If my description of her confused you, then yes that is how confusing she is. 0/10.
I honestly don't understand why she isn't rated higher. Kartika is a really engaging prof for a content heavy course and makes the information manageable. She gives really helpful examples of tricky concepts and offers clear, concise feedback when asked for clarification. She really cares about her students and it shows.
Thought Kartika was a good, well rounded professor. She cares about student learning and focuses on elaborating on understanding of larger concepts and application of smaller details to the concepts. Genuinely cares about students and encourages having a life outside of school. Her tests are very fair and she always asks for student feedback.
Kartika really deserves to be rated higher as she is not only a fantastic human being but also an awesome professor. She also has the best slide shows out of all the profs. She does rely on slides instead of free lecture but she knows her stuff and will always work to help her students. Also group projects with her were pass/fail so less stressful!
Kartika's lectures are powerpoint heavy, but she explains the material so it is easy to understand. She cares about her students and their success throughout the course and is great at responding to emails and questions. She teaches lectures with the use of diagrams and drawings, which provide a clear representation of what we are learning.
Kartika's lectures are very unorganized and she talks quickly through information not presented on the slides that she expects you to know on tests. She is a picky grader but her exams are mainly composed of broad questions so no matter how much you may think you know, you never know if you discussed it in the way she wants. Don't recommend.
Kartika's slides are pictures, no words. Explanations span from 10-15 min/slide and usually end with, "don't worry it's not on the test," OR, "this is what you need to know (without clearly stating on the slide what you're supposed to understand). Unmotivating, cause what was I supposed to know... we don't talk about the test especially the final!
Kartika is a good professor. This was her first time teaching BIOL 2110. She is a nice person and she will meet with you to talk about course material if you want. This course is hard though.
Absolutely do not recommend taking any course with this individual. My sincere sympathies for anyone forced to take any of her courses. Run away.
It was a 4 month long never ending nightmare taking her class. So glad it is finally over. Very strict grader, will find fault in even a simple harmless assignment and will dock marks like crazy. There is no scope to do well in her course. Its like she is out there to get you! Stay away and thank me for it later. Hope she goes on sabbatical.
I would rather off myself than take any more classes with her. Extremely hard marker - is unclear of what she wants in the written parts of her exams. slides don't have much details, are pretty low quality. Beware of taking her class.
One of the worst profs in the Biology department. Marks extremely hard and does not seem to like to help students out. Just makes exams over complicated and causes nothing but mental angst. Her slides are not that great. Stay away and take your classes with anybody but her. You have been warned.
Avoid any class with this prof. Grading is very strict - you will have no idea why she deducts marks like crazy even if you prepared well as per her direction in class. It was three whole months of mental angst for me and the whole time I was praying for it to be over and I get by with a C-. Will never ever take her class again. Beware!
It was an absolute traumatic experience taking her class and I am still trying to recover from the shock and trauma. I had no choice as she was the only one teaching both sections of this once in a year course. I wouldn't recommend taking her class even to my worst enemy. Stay away.
DO NOT take any course with this person. You have been warned.
It was a very depressing class and made me question why I chose the A&P concentration. At first, it seemed to be the most interesting concentration out there but this class and the anatomy class have made me regret my decision. I fail to understand why they make it so unnecessarily difficult for people to be easily disillusioned. Avoid this person.
if you absolutely need to take this class, definitely take it with any other prof but not her. Same goes for all the other classes that she teaches. I had a terrible experience taking her class and many others had the same issue.
She should go on sabbatical or retire and spare the students the pain and agony of enrolling in her classes. God help those who have no choice but to register for her classes. My deepest sympathies and condolences are with them, at all times.
Meh! Never been so disinterested in a class as she sucked the joy out of each of them by her bad lectures and strict grading. Absolutely does not deserve to teach especially when she keeps saying that she does not care as she gets paid either way. what an attitude!
Absolutely do not recommend taking her class in any shape or form. Stay away.
For the love of your mental health, do not take this prof .
Wish her nothing but the worst in everything. She is one of the worst profs in MRU if not the worst. Run away from her classes as she is detrimental to one's mental health. Your life will never be the same again.
DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT take any class with her. Run miles away from any class that she teaches. You will thank me for it...
Not good at all - taking this class was a chore and she made it all the more unbearable with her terrible lectures and incomprehensible grading. Never never again. Word of advice to all that are thinking of taking her class - please don't if you have the slightest respect for yourselves.
Don't walk, RUN away as fast as you can from any or all of her classes. Its simply not worth your time, money, effort, and overall well being.
I feel like all the 1 star reviews are not fair. This course itself is challenging, but some people blame the prof for it. I will say she is definitely a tough grader, but she is clear on how much detail she wants you to know. Attendance wasn't mandatory per say, but you will be missing out on lots of info if you don't attend.
yes, the course is challenging but she does not make it any better for the students. In fact, she makes it worse with her tough grading which makes NO sense. I have attended other challenging courses but have had profs who have made it easier on the students to do well. Unfortunately not the case with her. she wants you to fail and repeat!!!
Terrible professor. Stay away to save your GPA. Lots of information on the slides is random and irrelevant in terms of what she expects you to know, and she will go on monologue's of explaining things in intense detail and finish by saying "but you don't really need to know that." No respect for the time for her students. Avoid.
She is extremely vague in what she wants from you in this course as with all her other courses. She is a confused mess herself and provides no guidance to the students. You are just left to your own devices to navigate through this course. No point in having her as the instructor as she is out to get you and ruin your GPA with her terrible marking.
The experience of attending her class was nothing short of a nightmare - was praying hard all semester and could not wait for the class to be over and done with. Made a note to myself to never ever take a class with her again. It was 4 months of a living hell out there. So, so glad that it is over and I can finally breathe in peace.
Don't walk, just run away from all her classes. You will be a better person for it. Just pray that there is another prof teaching another section of the course so that you can take it with them. Often times they will have her for both sections of a once in a year course so that people are forced to register with her, in which case god help you!
Please take your sabbatical and don't come back - the future students will thank you for it.
Avoid if possible.
She seems very nice at first but turned out to be the worst prof I've had so far. Doesn't give clear instructions for the group project. Lectures are just her rambling and her power points consist of images with no context. Honestly bad situation for bio majors as this class is mandatory and she's the only one who teaches it. Good luck
Physiology is hard enough after making it through Anatomy, she makes it traumatic and you end up detesting the A&P concentration altogether, that you had excitedly signed up for. Wish I knew this before - I would have simply changed my concentration or my major altogether. Many folks I know, ended up transferring to General Science because of this.
Avoid, but unfortunately you can't if you are a bio major as this is a core course. Hope they get somebody else to teach this course, someday. No clear cut instructions, she is thoroughly confused herself, uninspiring lectures, and of course marks tough as she is not clear what she wants. Tough luck!
In my opinion She tries very hard for her students failover Even when you approach her she will reject any kind of communication. This is not learning. This is not what I paid for. I am paying to be educated in a respectful manor. Please do not fall for her class. Even if it is a course requirement
Avoid taking any class with her. Your success is not in her best interest.
Avoid, Avoid, Avoid. Overall, a terrible experience.
Take a class with her and check it out yourselves. I can guarantee you will be dropping it within the add/drop deadline, unless you are forced to take her class as part of your degree requirement (for most instances, this will be the problem). Need I say more?
Sooooooo Bad
Kartika is completely incapable of teaching. Her lectures are disorganized, she rambles without making clear points, and seems unprepared every class. She can't explain concepts properly, leaving everyone confused. It's frustrating and feels like a complete waste of time and tuition.
Kartika clearly doesn't care about her students' success. She barely answers questions, offers no guidance, and seems uninterested in helping anyone improve. Her feedback is vague and unhelpful, and she shows no concern for whether we grasp the material. It feels like she just doesn't want to be there.
Kartika's lecture slides are useless—just vague headings with no real content. You can't study from them at all, and you're forced to listen to her ramble through the material. It's impossible to follow or take proper notes. We shouldn't have to rely on her lectures alone to learn!
Kartika's tests are unbelievably complex, filled with confusing questions. Her short answer sections are the worst—if you don't write exactly what she wants, it's marked wrong, even if you understand the concept. It feels like she's testing for mind-reading instead of knowledge.
Run far far away, if you already haven't done so. That is my best advice to you. She does not care at all, as long as she gets paid - exact words from her mouth.
Genuinely BAD!!!
Tbh I don't even know why they bothered hiring her. She's the worst marker ever. Don't take this class w her.
She's genuinely the worst prof I've ever had. She tends to go on irrelevant tangents that lead nowhere. She's completely insufferable to listen to and her tests are unreasonably difficult.
Terrible. Her lectures are very unstructured. She talks too much for each slide and overcomplicates the concepts, spends too much time talking and will say that we don't need to remember everything she just stated and will give us the “main takeaway” which is usually two or three sentences. Too much time is wasted and her explanations are unclear.
Wish there was a disappear button somewhere to make her go away! Useless lectures, overly complicated exams, poor grading. Her sole mission in life is to see everybody fail. Best part - she is the ONLY one teaching these classes. So god help you all!!! End of semester SPOT evaluations are an absolute JOKE, which is why she is STILL kicking around!
Not good at all. Worst prof in MRU. My GPA took a huge nosedive because of her, thanks to her incoherent lectures and insanely terrible grading. Even the simplest of assignments she marks strictly and holds back your grade. Wish there was some respite from taking her courses.
One of the worst profs in the Biology department of MRU, if not the worst. Stay away folks, if you have the slightest respect for yourselves, your mental health, and your GPA!
she doesn't teach properly, her tests don't even include stuff from the slides. Worst prof I have ever had she is so boring. When someone asks her a question in class, she doesn't even bother answering, she just tells the student to meet her after class even tho most students have another class right after.
One of the worst profs in MRU. Her classes are uninspiring and make you feel grossly unmotivated. Its a shame that profs like these are allowed to continue year after year inspite of receiving unfavorable reviews. She doesn't cover all the material in class and her exams are designed to make you fail, no matter what. She loves to fail her students.
Wow, the fact that she is still teaching inspite of bad reviews speaks volumes. I feel sorry for all the students that have to take her class for lack of any other choice. Absolutely loathed attending her lectures which made little to no sense. Success of her students is not in her best interests.
It's my third class with her and its already terrible. She doesn't post half the lecture slides and the ones she does post have little to no information on them and are mostly pictures? If you miss a day it's over. Her iClicker questions and quiz questions are worded so that it makes it impossible to answer. Someone else should teach this class.
Ugh, her classes are an absolute chore - her slides are pathetic. Too bad we spend so much on our education only to be forced to take her classes. I learnt nothing in her classes and demand my money back. Wish there was a button to make her disappear forever.
She doesn't post her version of the slides so the student version has half the information. Normally this wouldn't be that much of a problem but when you're trying to get the info down she talks about other important things you need to pay attention to and she talks way too fast. I feel like im learning nothing
why would i lie?
This person adds no value to the university and the students - wonder why she is STILL there!!! There's sure gotta be wayyyy better alternatives in the Calgary and surrounding areas...
Avoid this class if possible. The professor is disorganized, provides unclear instructions, and her lectures are confusing. Try using Unstuckstudy and other study aids to prepare instead.
What is even going on in this class??? I've never been so confused and I've shown up to all classes. Prepare to learn everything yourself from a $300 textbook
Most disorganized class I've ever been to.
How does she even get to teach year after year with all the terrible reviews she gets here as well as in the SPOT evaluations. Hard to believe this is all we have? her classes are the most disorganized of them all, she has no clue what she is teaching or even why she is there. Its an absolute shame she is still out there ruining learning experience
Why hasn't the department done anything about her? She's clearly unable to teach effectively and has no interest for student success. Why am I paying $700 for this?!
Her lectures are all over the place - has no clue what she is teaching but when it comes to grading, she is the toughest one out there. SPOT evaluations are a joke as she continues to be around teaching courses and failing students. Avoid her like anything..
If someone else who was more organized and was a better teacher taught this class everyone would easily get A's. It's a shame because the content is quite interesting but due to her teaching the content has become over complicated and difficult.
Extremely disorganized lectures and the strict grading makes it no better. This class is a must for all Bio majors and I feel for the pain and anguish mostly everyone ahs to go through. She continues to get assigned to this class every semester. why ? why? why? Lord have mercy and make her go away!
Doesn't care about student success. Why hasn't the department done anything about her? So many people have complained
I would say avoid her at all costs but you can't because she's the only person who teaches this class. This is absolutely ridiculous. This class is the type where students should be easily getting A's but because of her awful lectures and unnecessary tough grading students struggle to succeed.
If her lectures weren't so confusing and if she actually put actual notes on her slides instead of a random picture of a rabbit maybe students could do well. If you miss class good luck and if you do make class well good luck cause she makes no sense
I honestly dont think she is as bad as some would have you believe. You cant rely on slides alone—she supplements a lot of her figures verbally, and tests on it, so jot down notes (& actually come to class!) Her test questions are fair and straightforward, & she is willing to help you if you go talk to her. But you wont be spoon fed in this course.
She has no clue what she is teaching. makes questions super confusing. strict grader. I attended all her classes and took lots of notes but they were of no use. I was actually quite shocked to learn that she has no students doing undergrad research with her, inspite of her being a full-time prof at MRU. doesn't that say something?
Yeah she's bad. Does iclicker in class (worth 5%) but doesn't show the question so you can't do it from home. Lecture notes are lacking so you need to study from the textbook. A lot of the content on her exams is based on very specific examples (graphs, animal examples, etc) so you need to remember a lot
She knows she's awful because she won't open her SPOT reviews. If she actually cared about student success she would take the feedback given and apply it. She's far to stubborn
Any sort of passion I had for anatomy she absolutely crushed.
All these reviews are true. Don't bother filling out SPOT evaluations as they don't matter, which is why she is still here. I wish I could just run away from her class, but it is too late now. never again I'm gonna take any of her classes. Its a sad state of affairs that profs like there are allowed to teach year after year. Avoid as much as u can
most difficult professor I've ever had to deal with. I would say if you're confused always go ask for help but she talks back in such a condescending way. Not only that but she can't even explain anything properly. Have fun teaching yourself for everything.
This woman does everything in her power to make sure you don't do well in this course. She's a terrible lecturer, yet you need to attend in person because of iclicker (worth 5% and she hides the questions so you can't do it from home).Doesn't let you backtrack on ONLINE quizzes. Doesn't post her full slides to D2L. Tests on very specific examples.
Worst teacher at MRU by far. Save yourself the headache and take this course at athabasca and transfer your credits. I wish I knew about it sooner but I'll do everyone else a favour.
Why is she the only prof teaching this course? She clearly makes students miserable. I know a handful of professors at MRU who could do a better job.
please save yourself-her slides don't make sense at all. there is no structure to her class. she marks very hard. i don't get the point of being a prof if all your gonna do is put pictures on ur slides and have very specific questions on exams. i wish i never took this with her :( And if u miss iclicker, you won't see the questions from home, GL!
She is a terrible educator. When you ask questions she doesn't answer them properly, she cut me off when I went to her office hours, and her exams are AWFUL
Bad, genuinely bad! Avoid at all costs if you have the slightest respect for yourself and your GPA. I learned nothing in her class, just lived in constant fear of failing. Put the maximum effort but got the lowest grade of all my courses. A's in all my other courses that semester but a very bad grade in hers. wonder why she is still there!!!
It was northing short of a nightmare being in her class. Her lecture slides are al over the place, she can't explain simple things, and is out rightly very hostile. what is the point paying so much for a class which offers no substance and value? If SPOT evaluations were taken seriously, she would have been gone. but alas, here we are...
She wants to see her student fail at any cost. Her lectures are just pictures with no context and provide little to no explanation. Her tests are based on the images she showed in class and ask questions she never discussed. Gives little to no feedback on midterms, and is so picky when it comes to grading, even with spelling.
Bad, really really really bad! Avoid to the largest extent possible.
Don't walk, just run away from her classes.
Avoid at all costs
she clearly does not want to be there, yet gets assigned to exclusive courses. this is unfair to the student on so many levels, its not funny.
By far the most incompetent professor I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. She needs to seriously reconsider her methods in teaching. When an entire class fails a final you know something has gone wrong. I hope and pray that future students won't suffer the same way I did.
Her lectures make no sense, she is grossly incompetent and should have long been gone. Being forced to take her classes without any alternative is so not fair to the student who has to dish out huge sums of money to pay for their tuition. MRU should do better by assigning way better and competent profs to teach these courses.
Her performance as a professor is completely unacceptable. Her lack of dedication to ensuring student success is so apparent. Why become a professor when you can't teach and don't care about your students
I went to her for help and she basically made me feel like the dumbest person in the world when I didn't know a topic even though she didn't even teach it or put it on any of her slides.
Worst professor in MRU. Beware of her.
she is the sneakiest and worst professor ever. She turned off the pictures on iclicker and said initially it was due to some sort of technical issue and she would figure it out. She lied it was so obvious it was to get you to come to class. This wouldn't be an issue if she actually taught in classes but everytime i left confused.
Avoid her to the greatest extent possible. She is sly and overall very unpleasant to deal with. Her class gave me the worst nightmare in my entire time at MRU. Also, don't bother filling up end of the semester evaluations.
Simply avoid taking her class! Period!!!
She can't teach.
Yuck, never ever again.
Too bad she is still teaching out there - in fact teaching all sections of certain courses so that the poor students have no way out. If end of semester evaluations were taken seriously, she would have been long gone, but alas, here we are.
She is terrible and cannot teach. Avoid taking any class with her, please, unless you want to destroy your mental health. Unfortunately, MRU will not do anything about her...
Very nice prof 1-on-1, and very knowledgable. Yes, the content is tough and slides are not informative, but use the textbook, as content makes more sense after reading. Super caring and accommodating for the group project and genuinely wanted us to be successful.
