Easy class, but you have to work for your grade (no free rides)

She's easy if you work hard, and extra credit is available. One of my most memorable/enjoyable classes at lbcc.

her class in not boring...she explains the topic very well..she's envergetic..her exams are not difficult unless ur not paying attention in class and not reading the book..there are alot of homeworks but it helps a lot in the exams...

She is an AWSOME teacher. She LOVES to relate sociological topics to her students environment no matter who/ they are. She has great office hours and is always always offering help. Her assignments are helpful, but you have to think about your responses.

I drop the class because of all her rules and unclear instructions. However the best thing about the class is you can order the textbook online for about 5dollars or less.

Took her spring 2003. One of the best teachers I've ever had. Is always there to help and is very entertaining and clear in her lectures. Never wanted to miss a day, but class is not a sinch , must read the book and pay attention in class.

Very interesting class. She is very strict with her assignments, but modest extra credit is available. TO get an A, pay very close attention to notes and make sure reading is done. Also, she's VERY HOT(use to be a Laker girl); also a Yale grad.

Daniels is a good teacher, but if you don't like a lot of homework then don't take this class. Tons of work!

Daniels has a master's degree from Yale, and she's very experienced in her field. She expects students to read all the assigned materials and ask provocative questions based on the readings. She enjoys challenges from students. Always make sure you keep her syllabus around!!

Her class was rather intresting. She was very helpfull and clear. She was a Laker's cheerleader so she is definetly burning hot.

I really enjoyed this class. Yes, she's strict. If you're not going to turn in all your homework, don't take this class! She tells a lot of stories (be prepared to learn ALOT about her family) and has a great knowledge of sociology. The class was really exciting and interesting. Highly recommended.

I took her @ CSULB and although the class was tough I admit i learned a lot...a thesis, the paradigms, are like second nature now since I had to do it so many times. Overall challenging in a good way!

i took in summer, well at least in summer school, she grade tough on homework assignments but she really explains her stuff. she an o.k. teacher.

Shes hilarious and very interesting to listen to.... she has so many great stories to tell from her childhood that she incorporates into the discussions.... shes great!

She does give alot of hw but easy teacher to talk to. Just turn in all the work and study.

Most amazing teacher ever. Very demanding and you really have to study and do your homework to pass. Everything you need to know she covers or is in packet plus she allows you to show her your homework before it's due to make sure you have an "A" paper. Participate in class, she really appreciates that, plus she is very smart and hot.

She is the cutest teacher....she has a ton of energy and is so helpful! Although she is a hard teacher if you pay attention in class and do the reading you will pass!! Shes soo funny too...i recommend her greatly.

I think I was in Karen's first class ever at LBCC. It was the hardest class I ever took. It was also the best class I ever took too. I liked her so much I took another class with her, but she taught us so much in the first class that the second one was pretty boring. I've long left LBCC, but Daniels is prbly best teacher I ever had as an undergrad.

Ms. Daniels is by far my favorite teacher at LBCC. She's incredibly smart, funny, determined to see her students succeed, as well as attractive. Although there is a lot of homework, she's good with late assignments and re-takes. You'll enjoy the class, even if you aren't so interested in Soc.

Karyn's strict with her rules, but it makes you do the work. Her homeworks are long and time consuming, but once you get it, it's easy. If you do well on the homework, do the extra credit and all the class work, you can fail all her tests and still make an A. Her tests are extremely difficult.

yes, this class is challenging but if you plan to go to university and professional schools such as medical or law school, shouldnt you be able to earn an A in a community college class?

loved Ms. Daniels..shes great at what she does do the objectives all 3 homeworks and any other things she asks and you will do fine..you can even fail all 3 exams and get a C as long as you do all other work and do good on them..she really down to earth and funny, she challenges you & makes you think...super hot as well...what ex laker girl isnt...

Ms. Daniels was VERY helpful. She kept class interesting all most all of the time. She takes added time out to send e-mailed recaps on what was gone over in her lecture for the day, and what is expected of the next few classes. I put fourth very little effort and earned a B, so imagine if you ACTUALLY READ THE BOOK.

Ms. Daniels is really funny and seems like she really cares about patients. Good about not letting late students just stroll in and disrupt class. Can be a little confusing and hard to follow when she lectures, at least for me. She does teach you a lot though.

The class isnt hard! Im a SOC major so the information is pretty easy. HOWEVER!She makes it hard but in a frustrating way! She has OCD.She wants everything to be they way she wants. A typical essay is about 15 points and she never gives you full credit. She tries to make the class as difficult as an honors English/math class. DONT TAKE HER !

This class will prepare you for harder classes in the future. Keep up with the reading+outlines, read over your notes before class, don't complain, and just do what Ms. Daniel's expects from you. Take her if you are looking for a challenge. You will learn a lot from each class, and it will also teach you work ethic.

People who put bad ratings for Ms Daniels just doesn't want to work hard. Well if you're transferring into a 4-year University you SHOULD be working hard and Ms Daniels prepares you for that. Always review your notes, don't slack, do all the outlines and EXTRA CREDITS(promise it helped me a lot) and you'll be fine. She's always ready to help. GL!

Miss Daniels is an amazing professor, one of the best lbbc is lucky to have. her class is not easy, yes you have to come evryday, study for quizzes and tests, use on-line website( it helps) and do all extra credit! You will come out of this class a better student with knowledge in sociology

This class is'nt easy but what in life is that's worthwhile.That's almost a trick question.Extremely helpful if you take advantage of the help and the opportunities available. she is very nice and funny and personally i like her. but she told our class that we should be spending 6 hours a week on her class and 30 minutes a week in our others. i didn't like her cockiness and superiority complex. lots of seemingly useless work, and grades very strange. if you have no interest in sociology, don't take her.

Ms. Daniels' class is difficult, and her expectations are extremely high...but in the end it is all worth the work. What I learned in this class I will never forget, and Ms. Daniels herself is simply great and fun to talk to :)

I took Daniels a long time ago, when she first started at LBCC. I loved her class so much, that I took a second one. I am now in my second year of grad school, and she is STILL my favorite professor, both undergrad and graduate school. Do well in her class, it will only prepare you for university and grad school, if you plan on going that far.

This is not an easy class but it is helpful. It makes you understand life a little better, Ms. Daniels is very strict and no BS with her because she won't put up with it. She is really helpful though when you just visit her office hours, she even responds to emails ASAP. She's super hilarious. Watch out for those theory outlines!!!

This class is not hard. This is college people! You really gotta work your butt off for this class. I did more work for this class than any math or science classes. If you want to understand sociology then take Ms. D, if not then don't! She's super cool, funny, down to earth outside class---VISIT HER OFFICE HOURS!!!very helpful!

Hardest class I've had,and a hard grader. When we wee reviewing for the midterm she stopped halfway because a couple people didn't know the answers.. just stopped the review which is redicuous beacuse it is their fault if they don't know it and fail the class. The other half of the class including myself would of loved to finish the review.

I was accepted to my number one university - Yale, to which I attribute to Miss Daniels' amazing classes. I took all of her classes and she challenged us, was availble for us when we needed help. I found more within myself - work ethic and capacity for the work - then ever thought I had.If you want to learn tools for a successful life - take her.

Cool Funny but to hard fore community college level, do not take this class if you have a full load it will kill you.

This was a challenging class, but if you pay attention and do the assignment you will do fine. She is a perfectionist...just follow her directions! She is really passionate about SOC, really funny and a nice person if you stick it out long enough to actually get to know her! Overall, great teacher. I learned alot, but definitely not an "easy A".

Not an easy community college level 3 units!!! She's a very nice and super witty/funny teacher but expect a lot of reading/ writing 5page outlines once a week. ALWAYS ALWAYS see her after class hours to proof read and check ANY WORK you turn in. She VERY meticulous. Always do extra credits! I got D's on the final and midterm and passed with a B

Shes really tough.. very precise about everything tests, quizzes, and homeworks. She'll make you do outlines and she won't give you a full credit till you do it right.. my advice always pay attention, study, and always ask her to keep you on track.. overall shes not that bad..

Do not take her class with an time consuming class, because her class is very stressful and youll spend most of your time doing homework in her class.

Best professor I had at LBCC! I was slightly curious about sociology before her class, & now, I'm majoring in it at a UC! She was extremely helpful (& relatable!) inside & outside of class. Not only did she help me think sociologically, but her approach helped me become a better student. Challenging, but well worth your time if you plan to transfer

Ms.daniels is a cool person, shes cute, she knows what she wants and if you dont follow it than youll mostlikely fail. shes strict but not rude, the homework gets difficult but the things she teaches about are interesting, be ready to be on your toes if you take her.. no slackers

Really strict teacher. She requires a lot of work, so if you're not up to it then don't take this class. Paper formatting is ridiculous, if you don't get it right then she'll deduct points.

Prof Daniels is really sweet. She has very particular guidelines for how to format hw and if you attend every class then you receive 25 e.c. points= DO IT! She will like you more if you attend office hours because it shows that you actually care about your grade. Do not slack because you will not pass. She is a little awkward but only means well

Professor Daniels is one of the best professors I've had at LBCC. She is indeed a very tough grader, but she grades you based on your effort. Her class was always very interesting, I not once got bored in there. Take this class if you're up for the challenge and want to prepare yourself for Universities :)

Terrible, I got all A's on her test midterms and final and she told me I may still fail because I didn't do home work. I even got good grades on the group projects. The class is easy to understand but her homework is the worst i have ever had.

Ms.Daniels' class is very hard to say the least.Make sure you attend every class because she gives bonus points.Although she gives hours and hours of homework, her class is never boring!It started off with 50 kids and now there is about 20.If your looking for an easy class, DO NOT take her class.She went to Yale, and has high expectations.

LOVED this class! Professor Daniels is an extremely talented teacher. She really knows how to engage her students in the course material and makes everything relevant to "real life". Her homework is lengthy and time consuming, and she is very particular about each assignment that is turned in. Besides that, I do recommend students take her class.

I love the way Ms. Daniels interacts with the class. She will work with you if she sees that you are trying. Make sure you ask a lot of questions, take notes, and go to her office hours.

This was the hardest class I have taken at LBCC. With that said, I learned a lot! Ms. Daniels had very interesting lectures. The homework assignments are very time consuming and you must study hours and hours for each test (fill in the blank, multiple choice). I ended up with an A, so as long as you put in the time, you can get a good grade.

Karyn Daniels is the best professor I've had. She's engaging, and is really organized. If you're looking for an easy A though, you'll be disappointed. This class is a lot of work. It's not mindless work though, I genuinely feel that the assignments helped me learn. Overall she's a tough teacher, but her methods work and her class is interesting.

Great class. I took her Socio 2 course and initially felt as though I didn't have a chance. She requires a large amount of commitment and understanding of the material and course guidelines. Take advantage of office hours(!!!), extra credit, study and work hard. You'll do fine.

She's clear on what she wants. All you have to do is follow her instructions on assignments, read for test and quizzes, and come to class. You wont do well if you don't put in enough time and effort. She's not a bad teacher ... but half her lectures were boring and her method of teaching isn't exactly easy. You really do learn from her though.

She is very interesting, but her projects are difficult, and time consuming. I recommend you to study every night for at least an hour on the previous discussion and the next chapter. Be sure to prepare yourself and have the right state of mind.

The class lectures were fun to participate in and I found myself laughing at least once each class period, but when a test or project came I found myself lost on what to do. Reading the book and filling out her lecture outlines before class is essential to passing the class.

She gives really good lectures. Uses real life examples and personal stories to make the topic easier to understand. However, she assigns big projectsassignments on chapters she hasn't gone over yet. So you will have to teach yourself the chapter and finish the assignment simultaneously. She does give second chances to fix the big assignments

The lectures are very interesting. I recommend you to do the study guides she gives out because that's the info she uses on the tests and quizzes. The projects are very time consuming because she grades for detailed info, clarity and if the information is right. She has certain formats of doing things so follow directions.

Toughest class I've taken! Her assignments are rigorous and she expects you to follow her guidelines thoroughly. Don't fall behind on lecture outlines as they serve as your study guide for spot-checks, quizzes, and exams. The class seems impossible at first, but it is manageable as long as you put in the time and effort. You will learn a lot!

Ms. Daniels is a great professor, she is respected and very confident; her lectures are very interesting and funny as well as she gives a bit of personal accounts to introduce better the subject... expect long papers, quizzes are sometimes tough, keep up with the spot check and pay attention to get good grades in your quizzes..

I enjoyed Ms. Daniels class and found her lectures to be very interesting. Although the work load was extreme. It was the class with the most amount of outside work and I found it difficult to understand concepts that I had to write about even though we had not yet covered them in class. Although discussions in class were very interesting.

Her lectures are great, she is very particular about the assignments you turn into her. She is super nice, willing to work with you, and very intelligent, she knows what she's talking about. She keeps the class fun and interesting. The book is crucial!! Do your outlines and your homework and you'll pass.

Be prepared to put in some time for a good grade on **ALL** assignments. COMPLETION OF LECTURE OUTLINES IS A MUST(before lecture day), crucial for lecture preparation, quiz's, exams & Final. **Extra Credit for perfect Attendance** (This matters at the end!!!! Seriously!). Great class, Dr. Daniels is professional, fun and extremely knowledgeable.

Really tough grader but lectures are very interesting. She's a great teacher. I'm glad I took her class my first semester of college, it really prepared me for the rest of my college courses. Her class is really a challenge but doable. Study study study and read read read! Get ready to put in work and to learn!

I've transferred to a university now but she's still the best teacher I've ever had. It's true that she assigns a ton of work, so if you're not prepared for that, I don't recommend her class. It definitely got me ready for the rest of college though. She's a great lecturer and makes the topics interesting and relatable.

This class requires good note taking, preparing before lectures with completed outlines, using inquizitive, and reading. Her teaching style is great, the only thing that I struggled with was keeping up with what was due. My tip would be to pay attention to detail and use canvas. Take advantage of office hours and go to any study session she holds.

I feel like shes really good , when it comes to quizzes make sure you do all your inquizitives because it helps. For the exams, just do your lecture outlines and youll be good to go. Everything on her lecture outlines are on the exams. Do all your assignments because in the end points add up. She gives out extra credit as well !

She is one of the most invested teachers I've ever had. Sometimes the instructions to her assignment s can be unclear, but all you have to do is ask. She mostly tells you exactly what you should do to pass the class. The resources are there, you just have to do the work. Honestly, just listen to the advice she gives because she genuinely cares.

She gives out extra credit towards the middle of the semester. She gives out study guides for the exams. She cares about you and wants you to pass. Get your heading right or you will lose points.

The poor ratings here devalues prof's professionalism; she's just doing her job. All the work she gives us, she has to work on it too. I'm taken by professor's ability to adapt to the pandemic; she's reliable, consistent, and down to the details of showing up well-presented on Zoom. This course will def further a student's academic growth.

this class was easy, it seemed easy but once we switched to online class - it was bad enough we had to do zooms and have long lectures and she wanted to grade us on every little thing. nothing ever seemed right to her, you answer the question and you get 0 points because supposedly you didn't answer it right.

Professor Daniels is truly passionate about Sociology and aspects her students to come into the classroom setting with a little enthusiasm too. If you come to class prepared you will get more out of it. Her exams are a little tricky but she does present extra credit opportunities. I definitely recommend taking advantage of them.

The amount of effort Professor Daniels puts into her course is truly incredible. She genuinely cares about her students' well-being and is always working on ways to amplify the student experience. This is a college-level course so expect it to be challenging but not impossible!! Just put forth the effort and I promise it will pay off.

Karen Daniels is an extremely talented professor. Because she pushed me to do a NORMAL CLASS WORKLOAD, i've been better prepared for other classes for my major. People that don't like her are just lazy and don't to study.

She is incredible and will inspire you to push yourself. Takes out the lowest scores on multiple assignments. Very accessible outside of class- take advantage of that! Ask her many questions if you need clarification and the syllabus does help. Uses group projects instead of midterms or finals. She preps you for college success. Highly recommend!
