Awesome class. Karyn is funny. Just do all the reading and you get a good grade. Barely any homework.

She is my favorite teacher at Mt. Sac, but she is definitely not easy. Do exactly what she says and you will do fine.

Tries to be funny and nerds laugh at her jokes. She is a hippy that time forgot. She over reacts that the world is going to end. That people are destroying the earth. Earth will not end, people will end. Get it! Lots of work and some info. are interesting

This class is not easy. If you want an A, you have to read the text book more than once and deeply understand it. Her lecture is pointless because everything she says is from the book. Some test questions are tricky.

Anyone who doesn't like Karyn is destined to be a snail in their next life. She is intelligent, patient, and really cares about her students, and the earth. Karyn inspired me to change my life for the better. she's so smart too. she knows her stuff.

Karyn is the sweetest, smartest teacher ever. Her jokes are cute and so is she. She cares about her students so much. People say that she tells stupid jokes and only nerds laugh but they are just disrespectful and should drop because they dont deserve to have her as a teacher.

Karyn was pretty cool. I think that she tries a little too hard to make us laugh. Either that or I got used to Petersen in Bio 6. Craig has more of a natural ability. Great, but tiring class, but that doesn't matter. Still better than sitting in another lab class looking through microscopes.

she's passionate about what she does. As long as you show up and pay attention and do a LITTLE bit of studying. You will do great. And show up for class too.

shes one cool teacher, but kinda weird. I thought the class was quite easy, but then again i did all nighters and went to class.

i got to know plants way more intimately than i ever wanted to. challenging class taught by a hugely intellegent, vibrant, unpredictable and humorous professor. respect all the way around.

SHe's such a funny teacher. Her classes are very hard and her tests are even harder i failed but i would take her class again.

in all her classes, karyn is informative, organized, funny, and on the move. she makes learning fun, and deserves the best in life possible. humans in the environment is fairly easy if you have half a brain, but botany is significantly more difficult, but still a great class.

She is soooo funny. She makes class fun and keeps your attention. I enjoy coming to class. There are many ways to earn points with all the different assignments she gives. Study your "Principles".

She is one of the best teachers I ahve ever had! The class was easy and she will give you any help you need. She tells stories and will usually act out what you are learning. If you need to take bio take her...you will learn a lot and get a good grade...the assiments are easy and there is only a little homework which is also easy!

This class is fun. She is such an animated teacher who will have you smiling everyday in her class. The only thing I don't like about the class is the principles we have to learn but hey, the class is fun. It is nice to have a teacher who is very excited about their job!

Very sweet and understanding. Helpful in every way.. and finally gave up her SUV for a Hybrid! Great enviornmentalist and overall a good teacher. VERY ENERGETIC AND EXCITED ALL THE TIME. Homework is easy, and tests... well STUDY. Principles we have to learn by heart suck really bad but they're very interesting.

Very energetic, she makes lecture very interesting and funny, but there is a lot of memorization and sometimes you just don't know where to start. She offers lots of extra credit oppertunity but only one full extra credit counts; study guides available for the exams, and drops one quiz and one exam, but the final is comprehensive. :(

She's a super fun lady with a great sense of humor. Her class is pretty difficult BUT if you take it lecture by lecture and don't overwhelm yourself by letting the work pile up, you'll do okay. Just don't put off studying for her tests!

The funniest teacher I've ever had, although she's getting off the point all the time--talking about her families and friends, but that's fun too. lecture and exams are not hard, as long as you study the terms that are in the study guide.

She's really energetic and perky and so nice. Memorize the principles and read the book, you'll get an A.

karyn was ok. i took craig for lecture and kinda wish i had done the same for lab. her humor is a bit sarcastic and she seems a bit impersonal at times. shes nice and i loved my class and learned alot. tons of work but worth it in the end.

This professor is great, she tries to make this boring subject fun. She gives study guides, extra credit and help with whatever you need. Its NOT an easy class, study and you'll do fine. I got a B and took this class in the winter 6 week session. I definately recommend this professor.

she is cool, very funny and also gives extra credit great teacher and passionate about what she does. i recommend her, if you try to do every assignment and you don't do that good in her test you will at least pass with a C easy.

Wonderful wonderful teacher and person! She is very intelligent, informed and passionate about what she teaches. She is hilarious, so much fun, and keeps the class interesting. Karyn is always open to helping and talking to students. Her passion is in trying to pass her knowledge onto her students. Karyn converted me to a biology major. :]

Even if you don't take her as a teacher TAKE THIS CLASS! Never in my life have i had a teacher this great. Her teaching has changed my major! Everyday i left class wanting to save the world. She makes you want to learn. 3 tests, lowest grade dropped, Cumulative final (easier then tests). LOTS of extra credit. Best teacher on campus. no regrets!!

Karyn is a great prof! This class is by no means easy, however, she does prepare you well for tests. If you pass one test, you will probably pass the class. Karyn makes the class fun, and extra credit is offered. I would definitely recommend this class!

Karyn is an inspiring teacher. She doesn't lecture much of the reading but you are required to know it. She expects her students to be adults and do what is required, she's very fair. She is funny and not only will you learn biology lessons, but lessons in life! You'll come out a better person if you ready to become one by taking her class.

I mean you cant be a slacker and expect to get a good grade....this is college you have to do the work and study and if you do that you will get a B or an A. deffinately one very informative professor....also remember to pay attention to everything she says...

A great professor! Shes totally sincere in her teaching. She's one-step away from being a hippie. :) Learn the principles and read the book; you should be fine when taking the quizzes. She's not too serious, which some people may not like, but it never detracts from the value of the information. Homework is very important, though it's never a lot.

I took bio 1 over winter session (and got an A!). Karyn is a great, friendly teacher who makes learning bio easy and fun. She provides a lot of notes via power point and extra credit! Take advantage of that. I don't know what other people are talking about below -_- I would recommend her, she makes time pass by fast! I want to take her env't class

This teacher is pretty funny if you understand her sense of humor..Get your work done on time, memorize your principles, and read occasionally and youll pass her class easily.

Karyn is an amazing teacher. She is so dedicated and everything is hands on in lab. We were on field trips 12/16 week course. It's a great class and experience that will change your life. She puts so much effort into making this class great and shes small but does great things and contributes to making a difference.

there were two professors for this class so she was only at the labs but she was a clear teacher. Lab practicums are pretty hard if you do not study, you will need to do work to get a passing grade. but shes really nice, goofy too

kakiba was cool. Humans and the environment have a significant impact on the planet... and there needs to be change....but aside from wut i learned...attend class and always look forward to learning in a different setting..watchin educational yet fun videos..visiting da sanctuary..learning in a new era..some textbook time too..Study the principles!

Greatest teacher ever! never learned so much in my life! lecture was quite hard, attendance is a must. if you make it through the lecture you must take her lab!

It's true that she is a bit ambiguous, but if you pay attention you?ll learn a lot more than you expected. I believe that Kakiba-Russell is one of those rarely found true professors, who not only teach you text, but about life. At first you won?t find this true, but if you stick around long enough, you?ll see what I?m talking about.

Karyn's class is not the most lively in the subject matter, but she's so animated that the time flies by. Personally, I felt that we learned nothing in class, but learned a lot from the study guides. As long as you do the study guides and know your principles, getting an A will be a breeze.

i took Karen for Bio6 Lab. the field trips are a lot of fun and i loved the class because it focused on how humans affect the environment. you'll also get to go on a weekend camping trip. it's a really fun class. by the end of the semester you'll feel like family.

Funny, personable, and passionate about the environment. Lectures are pretty loose but beware--quizzes/exams are based on text info so you better read. Lots of vintage films. Learning the "Principles" is tedious, but memorize them, learn the terms from the study guide and you'll do well. I really enjoyed this class! Easy A if you apply yourself.

Karyn is an incredible caring person and a phenomenal teacher. What she is doing with this class is so important and critical. This is not an easy class but, if you have an open-mind and GET OVER YOURSELF, it has the ability to change your life. Took the class 3 years ago. Very interesting subject matter if you care about the environment and sustainability. She opens your eyes to look at things in a new perspective. Tests and quizes are tough, just make sure you go over your notes and read the text book (and i mean examples, diagrams, everything!). Memorization is a must for principles. Great professor, tough course.

She was an amazing lab professor. But do study since there are quizzes every week. Chance to earn extra credit. And you are able to finish the lab at home.

She was very funny. Quizzes every week. MT was 25 mc questions. Final was the same with some short answer and was not cumulative. Get to finish labs at home. Plenty of chances for points. Labs are really fun.

Karyn is awesome! I had Craig for lecture- which was the best- and now Karyn for lab! Bio6L is really cool so far. I heard from many people that it is life-changing so I'm really looking forward to it. Even though it's ridiculously long, Karyn is hilarious and we're very busy. Karyn is a Professor with great insight, knowledgeable, and she is hilarious when it comes to her lectures, never a doll moment in class. Be prepared, don't skip a class, keep up with the readings, assignments, studies and you will do well. The best thing is, she is one of those professors to prep you for a 4 year University or CAL state.

This is the first time I ever wrote a review about a professor, so that should say a lot already. She is such a passionate woman about this topic that she will turn your heart as it turns hers. She is one of the funniest professors I have had, and makes this class enjoyable to the point where you are sad when it is over. Take this class!

Karyn is one of those professors you will never forget. Her class wasn't hard if you show up. Quizzes are directly from the chapters for that week. As long as you listen to her directions, she will be glad to help, both after class, in class, and in her office hours. You can even drop an exam! Learned so much in this class. It's an eye-opener!

Was a little scared to take this class, but it turned out to be an amazing decision. Don't get me wrong, this class is a ton of work, but as long as you do it, you can get an A. Plus, you can use all of your notes on the exams + final! Field trips every week, except for a couple. Overnight field trip was awesome. She's also hilarious! Take this!

Super funny, class flies by and she is really nice. However, if you turn work in even one minute after others its considered late. READ THE BOOK. Very political, if you're a republican do no take this class it will drive you nuts. She gives extra credit and study guides. Forced to memorize quotes, KNOW THEM PERFECTLY or points are marked off.

This was one of my favorite classes last semester of Fall 2016. Karyn is a hilarious, inspiration and encouraging professor I have ever had. Bio 6 Lecture is tons of reading so get ready! The final is cumulative but she curves it. Make sure to take her for lab as well! It will change your life!

Karyn is one of the best. She made Lab so much fun & easy to understand, also would help clear things up from lecture. She can be all over the place but at the end of the day she really knows her stuff. She wants her students to succeed but needs to see effort from your part. Gave a lot of extra credit. Ended with a very high A. Lab book is needed.

Nice Professor, the only thing is she does not lecture. Get ready to study by yourself. We basically watch movies and write some essay reflections. Homework are easy, 3 exams plus final. She will drop the lowest exam and quiz score. I feel it is a nice relax class. BE READY TO READY TEXTBOOK.
