Reminds me of the little lady from the "Incredibles" without the voice... It is her!!! Essays can be confusing, but if you attend class, she may give you some extra credit. Essays can be revised for a better grade- Love it!!!
With short stories, she wants the class to discuss and not have her participate. She told class she knows little about teaching poetry. There was no real discussion of poetry - just look it up on library site online and copy it down. Papers are hard as are tests. No help with either. You can re-write thesis papers.
Gives unreasonable amount of work. Does not realize people are taking other classes. She thinks hers is the only one. Dont plan on a life if you take her class. Yes, she does look like the Incredibles Woman!
Cool.
Very nice teacher but she isn't easy. You have to really write well, or she counts points off. Her class is challenging but I enjoy it
You have to work hard but if you have a real interest in writing, she's your woman. She's a tough grader but gives second chances on all three major essays and many opportunities for extra credit!!!
Quite the energizing professor. She really tries to make sure the class understands assignments and loves class participation. She can be a tough grader, but if you follow directions she will reward you with a fair grade. Homework was on the heavy side, but required for the subject. Really enjoyed this class! BTW, it's Kasty, not Kathy :)
I would not take this class. The teacher doesn't give in for anything. She grades papers insanely hard. I wrote an opinionated paper over a candidate and she my whole paper was saying how wrong i was and had purple ink all over it. Plus she would answer question like you were an idiot.I did not like this lady.
The people who complained about this class are most likely those who were lazy with her assignments. She gives A LOT of work no denying that but she gives you a good amount of time. She tells you specifically what you need to work on so you can write better. To me she seemed more like Dr. Bailey from Grey's Anatomy.
She gives ALOT of work. But she is clear about what she wants and helps you if you need it and also gives extra credit.
She is not necessarily bad at teaching, but horrible at getting assignments back. It took our class nearly 3 months to receive a grade on a paper we wrote. There is a lot of homework and a lot of reading- apply yourself and you stand a fair chance.
She gives quite a bit of work for you to do for her class but its worth it. She is really quirky but nice and its pretty cool how you watch yourself improve immensely. I highly recommend her but only if you are willing to work for your grade.
very energetic and fun. She's fair, but kind when grading essays. She doesn't make people uncomfortable and wants to help everyone. GREAT teacher.
Kasty France is an awesome teacher. I will miss being in her class. I took both her Comp I & II. She inspired me to become a better writer and gave me the tools to do so. She gives alot of homework but she give lots of extra credit.
Kasty France was the best!! She helps you with assignments and papers whenever you need her to. Papers are kind of hard but she is really good about giving you the extra time you need. And she gives you quite a few free days that you don't have to come to class.
She centered literally everything we did around baseball. Every paper, assignment, and reading pertained to baseball in some way. Was very difficult to stay interested or motivated. Grades papers super hard, and treats people with legitimate questions like they are stupid. Pretentious and overbearing.
She was HORRIBLE. The whole class was based on baseball. It was extremely boring. She grades way too hard on everything that you do. But towards the end, she does let you revise a lot of things. Overall, she's terrible. She's a funny, sarcastic person. But she's a terrible teacher. I would not recommend taking her.
might sound crazy but it was my fav class, and fav teacher yet my lowest grade! Worked harder here than n e where else ever and yet lowest grade! make sure you know MLA thats her thing
She can make baseball intesting by addressing cheating superstition and pastime! I loved this class! hardest class only cus she knows what comp II students should know big on MLA! Fav teacher I have ever had! worked harder and longer in this class than any other, she might grade hard, but gives a chance to revise all papers and a pentality wavier!
Many people were critical over her theme being about baseball. But you are going to have a theme in any English class. Some say she grades hard. It's because she wants you to become a better writer and some people don't take constructive criticism well. I enjoyed her class and made an A but writing is also my thing & I love the St. Louis Cardinals.
An expert in her field who genuinely cares about students' development.
I absolutely love this class! Kasty is great, gives interesting topics to write about and tries to make sure you understand each assignment clearly. I'm also glad that she allows revisions it helps with stress levels a lot! Overall a great class and a great professor! I would definitely recommend taking her class.
THe class is a lot of work and class attendance is mandatory to receive credit. You get out of it what you put into it. I loved Professor France and would definitely recommend her to students with a lot of work ethic.
She won't help you with missed questions on tests. She is funny. She will not allow you to use your phone or iPad for blackboard or for your textbook. You will be a tree waiting student because you have to print every last paper for usually no reason, when you could just look it up on your Blackboard app. Seems redundant and wasteful. Be sure to find out EXACTLY WHAT SHE REQUIRED FOR CLASS, she isn't quite clear in the syllabus. Essays seem to be pass fail, no real partial credit.
The amount of coursework is outrageous. She grades inconsistently and seemingly arbitrarily. She was often unable to tell me why I received the grade that I did. I was also offended by her habit of publicly humiliating her students for incorrect answers, tardiness, or even just being timid. Overall, I would NOT recommend this instructor.
I really regret taking this course. I thought it would be fun. It ended up being super stressful and having the most coursework of any class I've ever taken BY FAR. I have never had the slightest problem with a course's workload before.
The worst. Week11 and still hasn't graded given 100+ assignments, doesn't give steady feedback to students' writings (in online creative writing course! what else is there to do? there's no lecture), makes schedules and syllabus and technical mistakes.
took her 8 week comp 1 course, extremely clear on what is due when. literally builds in "oops" assignments in case you miss one, its fine, it gets dropped in the end. not many assignments. the ones she gives are easy. if you put in one iota of effort you will definitely pass her class. shes also super nice!
Professor France was an excellent teacher I originally took her for Comp 1 and loved her, so I took her for Comp 2 as well. She was just as good for Comp 2 as she was for Comp 1. You do have to put in work, but if you pay attention and do the assignments properly you should pass the class, attendance class is a must.
I took this course during the summer. I have yet to receive feedback on my FIRST paper and the class ended yesterday. I am currently missing over 500 points in ungraded assignments. Terrible.
Course work not graded in a timely manner. Second assignment was not graded until the end if the course. Do not take this class if you value your time or academic career.
Professor French is extremely professional and gives fantastic feedback. There is A LOT OF WORK! I took ENGL 1113 in 8 weeks and it was hell. However she was more than willing to work with me when I had a "life happens" event and I got an 89 in the class. I would absolutely take her again, just not in 8 weeks. Be prepared to WRITE! And read.
She is a tough teacher and would make you work hard for a good grade. It's either a be here and get the grade or be absent and watch your grade fall "organically", from what she wrote in her syllabus. This teacher would be great for those who loves challenges and enjoys talking a lot but definitely not for those who prefers working silently.
Professor France is by far the worst professor I have had at TCC. She does not grade homework in a timely manner making it impossible to know your grade. She requires rough drafts to be turned in for assignments but does not grade or return them in time to revise the final draft. I received an A in the course, but I would never take her again.
I took Professor France for Comp II and loved her class. I am now taking her online class for technical professional writing. It is a lot of work but it will pay off because if you are going into the medical field you will utilize all that she teaches. She is very helpful when you need her although it is an online course. I would recommend! !
Well first off I will say this, if you want your papers graded on time for good feedback and to know what to do on the next one, pick another teacher. Took 2 months to grade the first paper and school ended without all grades put in. No knowledge of progress until it is too late. Better already know how to write before you take this class.
She is okay! You learn a lot of stuff you will need like writing memos, resumes, and business letters. The hardest part was at the end we had to write a research paper. It wasn't too horrible. She didn't grade it rough. Ask long as you put in effort you will get an A.
I took her online summer class and while it was no walk in the park, I feel like I did learn a lot in the class. Whenever I needed help, Prof France was quick to reply with a helpful and friendly message. I think this class would be a lot easier as a typical sixteen week class and in person, but if you work hard then you can earn the grade you want
Does not turn in grades, you do not know what to improve for next paper because she does not grade. Theres no point in rough drafts besides they are worth points because she does not give them back. Assignments are not clear and hard to find online because she puts them in different places. If you miss class, she takes points off your grade.
I took for comp 1. This class is hard ton of reading, and lots of papers to write. She takes attendance for every class. Gives out a fair amount of homework with two required textbooks.
France is a wonderful professor and I enjoyed her class a lot. She gives great feedback on your papers, it just takes her forever to grade them. It took weeks to get any grade on our papers, which can be frustrating. But over-all, it was great. I'd love to take from her again.
I took Technical Writing online and it was great! You have to take quizzes from the reading which are 15 questions. There aren't many papers you must write. I really enjoyed this class. I don't particularly like english, but this class was very enjoyable. She is very helpful! Take her!
First off, HOURS of tedious homework every night. It's not hard but the workload is RIDICULOUS. Only take this class if you have a lot of time on your hands. No help, she's passive aggressive, does not respond to e-mails, and the instructions on assignments are so unclear. She does not grade in a timely manner at all. Horrible, awful class.
This class was a very difficult class. Do not take this class if you don't have any spare time during the day because you will not be able to get anything done. Finding your assignments on blackboard is very difficult and hard to find, then when asking her where they are at, she is very short with you.
I took Professor France for an online Comp.1 course and was not pleased at all. Don't take this class unless you have a lot of free time. I work full time, and I only had evenings to do homework. Assignments are due all throughout the week so you don't have long to do them. She takes FOREVER to grade assignments. Overall I did not like her class.
Took the 8-Week summer course. Has not graded any papers, took one paper off of our grade book completely after we submitted. Will extended due dates because she doesn't get things graded. Does not proofread her own documents, many typos and grammatical errors. Tedious assignments that she disregards half of. Was passive aggressive and not helpful.
I had Professor France for an 8-week Comp class and overall I enjoyed it. We only had to write 3 papers not including our final and the quizzes were extremely easy straight from the book. She chose topics that we are college students should start to care about which I loved. I would take her again.
She knows her stuff. Other than that, she is hard to read. Plays favorites. Runs the class like a dictator. I didn't feel like she wanted us to pass as much as wanted us to follow her rules. She was also condescending.
I took her for Technical Writing. The class was what you would expect, it wasn't to difficult but you have to actually work in order to get a passing grade. One of the best things I can say about her is that she actually cares about you passing and will work with you on late assignments as long as you let her know.
I took Kasty France for Technical Writing on her online course. Although I did not find the work difficult, there was a lot of busywork. Also, I did not get grades for projects from week 3 until AFTER I took the final. There was no feedback on projects. If you don't want to know how you are doing, then take her! You will be guessing all semister!
I took Dr. France for Technical/Business writing online. There is a quiz over reading assignments every week. The projects are fairly easy, but she does take a long time to deliver grades. She emails back quickly and is very helpful. The final project is a lot of work, but she gives you plenty of time to work on it.
Mrs. France was an amazing instructor. She does give tons of homework but you will become very knowledgeable in English learning. I would take her again if I had to, but thank GOD I am done.
Getting grades for your work was like pulling teeth, you would have to show your submission code to prove you turned things in after she gave you a zero. She treats the class like high school you cant have your phone on your desk, you cant have a laptop out, etc. we did busy work all semester then got slammed with work the last couple weeks.
Prof. France was a good teacher, but I wouldn't recommend taking her online class due to her getting VERY far behind on grading. I will be attending her in class this fall and hope its better. Great teacher and will answer emails, but gets very behind on grading!
I took online comp 1(8 week) with Professor France. She assigns a good amount of assignments all leading up to major papers, and its important to complete all of them to make the essay writing go smoothly. A lot of the content she uses is modern and interesting. She also uses flipgrid for peer communication. if you put in the effort, you will get A
She gives really good feedback on every major assignment. There are a lot of quizzes for her online Techof Writing class, but that's understandable. The only thing I would suggest is that she has an easier calendar to follow for due dates because I'm constantly checking BB to make sure I won't miss anything because her schedule is confusing.
Really easy to work with. She wants you to succeed, and will help you to do so. In class you should really ask questions, then she will go into a deeper explanation of what you are supposed to do. She will help you in any way she can.
France does not return graded papers in a timely manner. I have a third paper coming due in the next week, and still have not gotten paper 1 back. It would be very helpful to have comments and know what areas I need to work on. Very disappointing.
If you want to have an instructor that is condescending and passive aggressive towards their students, and doesn't know how to return papers in a timely manner then go ahead and take her. I recommend you avoid this instructor. There are many more that know how to do the job, and do it well.
She doesn't have posted office hours, doesn't return graded assignments in a reasonable amount of time, and frankly has an attitude if you have the nerve to ask when things will be graded.
She is a great professor!! She gives weekly assignments but she gives clear instructions and the book is super helpful. The quizzes are multiple choice. You do write a Formal Analytic Report but she gives good feedback when you submit the rough draft. It is easy to make an A if you put in effort.
Professor France does assign lots of homework which help with the writing assignments. Follow her rubric and instructions for her assignments. Make sure you KEEP UP WITH READINGS. We had lots of papers due, but they werent as major as the final (report). She gives good feedback and she really wants you to succeed!
I took Professor Frances online technical writing class and enjoyed more then I thought. She wants you to succeed and gives great feedback. She assigns weekly assignments, but gives you a whole week to complete them. The book gives examples for all the writing assignments and they are not difficult to write. The quizzes are also all open book.
She asked her students to give her positive feedback on here. All of the negative reviews are spot on. She is extremely passive aggressive when she gives you feedback. She makes you do thought journals and I feel like that is way too personal for her to make us talk about why we are bad students. I have never earned a C before. She is horrible.
Her course wasn't a 5/5 difficulty. I put that because it was difficult giving her what she wanted. She would provide passive-aggressive feedback, making it hard to decipher what she wanted. There were several times I flunked because I wasn't able to give her exactly what she wanted. I received my first C in this class, so be careful.
Professor France gives good feedback. She want you pass and will help you if your trying. Shes easy to contact outside of class.
Prof. France took any chance she could get to make sure we were comfortable, always warned us ahead of time if something were to change, and was an overall caring professor. She gives amazing feedback and is very lenient and understanding with her grading. The amount of work is manageable. I only had a couple mishaps with her. Highly recommended.
Save your money and time, avoid this professor at all costs.
Professor France has been rude to me and my peers in class this semseter. I recently recieved my corrections for a paper and they were rude, unhelpful and quite honestly just a waste of time. Stay away from her class at all costs unless you are looking for a teacher who puts you down and doesnt act like she cares about anything but being mean.
Mrs. France was a good teacher all in all but had a few downfalls. She tends to be a bit scatterbrained and really doesn't describe what she wants from us very well. She also has a tendency to say one thing in paper instructions but tells us to do something else. Mrs. France is very caring and kind, but kind of hard to understand at times.
Do not take her. She never tells the class what she wants you have to guess what she wants on her papers. JUST DONT TAKE HER!!!!!! She is also very rude.
I was hesitate about dropping this class in the beginning. I should've dropped it! She is a hard grader and always wants thing a certain way even though you fix it the way she wants it. She is responds to email fast. She is rude and it was a hard class especially the papers that you have to write. There are weekly journals which was unnecessary.
I learned a lot from the textbook. But she did not grade in a timely manner, never answered a single email, and I could not get a hold of her by phone. She grades very tough, especially considering she barely teaches. You do thought journals, which are very personal. This was the worst class I've ever taken.
I recommend to avoid this teacher at all times, she's incredibly rude, whenever you ask her a question she acts annoyed, never been able to grade your assignments on time never gets back you in time by email. Don't take this professor if you want to fail.
I had a really hard time converting to online classes and Mrs. France made it easier. Anytime I needed help she answered until I fully understood. She even took time to call or zoom call me to explain an assignment to me because I was lost. She makes times for every student she has and makes sure you succeed in her class. Take this professor!
I took her zoom classes this semester and I have to say, I learned so much from this class! She is a tough teacher and does give a lot of homework in the beginning of the semester, but stick with it and follow instructions. She had us do a lot of group work/discussions, which really helped alot! She just is a great professor and really cares.
I don't know where to start with this professor. DO NOT take her class. She assigns work with multiple instructions and makes it confusing. I have never had a trouble with English until this professor and have always made A's in English. She gives work on top of work to complete the actual assignment .Save your money and energy for someone else.
The class itself is not very hard at all, it is the teacher that makes everything so bad. She will give you feedback if you email her but she can be very rude about it. She takes a month to grade everything and when she does give you the assignment back there is little to none feedback. I easily passed the class but I hated every minute of it.
Do not take her class if you want to pass! She is an incredibly tough grader and leaves useless feedback. France doesn't grade in a timely manner and answeres rudely to emails. Her assignments are long and confusing. I had to write several papers each week. STAY AWAY FROM HER CLASS!
France does not give out the course schedule with all assignments listed at the beginning of the semester so it can change at her will at any time. All of her assignments are over the exact same topic so unless you have a lot to say over one subject, it gets repetitive. A lot of "busy" work on top of the already heavy work load.1000% don't recomend
This professor was recommended to me by a friend, not because she was an easy teacher but because my friend knew I'd get incredible value out of it. My friend was right. M writing and confidence improved immensely. Prof France was also fair, kind, and approachable. Definitely recommend if you actually want to learn something and do the work.
Professor France is a really, really great professor. I enjoyed her class immensely, and I would take it again. But beware! The only problem I have is how long she took to grade our papers! Two months went by before our first writing assignment was returned to us. I turned in 4 more papers by then. If you struggle with writing, this is not for you.
She is extremely rude, acts as though shes better than you i dropped the class just based off our interaction through one email. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ! i have made all A's and have have really hard classes . this is the first i dropped and it has nothing to do with how hard the class is. it has to do with her terrible awful pretentious attitude.
I'm totally OK with a professor being tough grader, but if you're going to be hard on grading, be a GOOD teacher. She's horrible, she barely explains anything, and when you ask for help she's so bothered. She doesn't care one bit about your growth and development as a student. She's just trying to make a paycheck and stay miserable!!!!
I wish I had dropped this class. She grades so harshly. Rude when emailing back. She gives so much work on top of all the work she already gives out. Asks for one thing but wants something else. Would not recommend her at all.
Extremely tough grader with unclear directions. Hard to get a response back and grades slowly. Overall one of my worst classes.
Professor France was a TOUGH grader,I feel like this is more like comp 2 instead of 1. if you want to improve your writing skills then this class is for you but if you're like me, bad at writing and just want to passed the class then I don't recommend this class. At the same time, homework wasn't that bad it's just her grading that was so strict.
The sheer amount of work you have to do for this class is ridiculous. I took an engineering course that required less work than this. She is so dang nit-picky. There's a huge paper at the end of the course. I have an A- in the class right now, but if I fail the paper, I'll fail the class. The paper alone should not determine if you pass the class.
Takes forever to grade the directions are all over the place and has very minimal feedback not super direct with how to improve on struggles and grades very harshly for all the unclear directions we have also had multiple assignments where the whole class was confused and did bad so she let us try again and grades took forever to be updated
Professor France class was hard and does include a lot of work. The vast majority of my time was spent reading instead of engaging with my other class mates. I wouldn't recommend this class due to her poor class structure and Poor instructions.
Professor France's class is extremely poorly organized. It is not just her organization that is terrible, but her instructions are too. They are so long and vague. This class is so taxing on mental health. ABSOLUTE worst class ever. Skip the semester if this is your only option. I worked very hard to just get a 71.
I do not recommend taking this teacher unless you like working independently with little to no help. She takes FOREVER to grade and is passive aggressive in her emails. She also uses AI generator checkers that claim everything is AI. To fix the writing you have to dumb down your work which then makes you lose points for bad work.
As long as you read what Professor France provides you and CLEARLY read her instructions, you will not have a hard time with the class. Keep up with your work and submit things on time!
Clear and fair expectations. Has a grace period for larger assignments each week. Emphasis on student well-being.
It was honestly kind of difficult, but I still passed because the difficult part was completing all of the assignments rather than the content of the assignments themselves. It's hard if you're very busy! She takes foreverrrr to grade things but her feedback was good and often gave us critiques of what exactly we had to work on
If you are good at English then take this class by all means, BUT if you are just trying to get a good grade in English because you know you have to then I wouldn't take her class. She is very passive aggressive she takes forever to grade assignments. She is also not very caring if you don't understand her material. Also doesn't give good feedback.
Professor France is a tough grader and hard to impress. The class involves a lot of writing, and grading takes a long time. Deadlines are strict and very specific, so there's little room for flexibility. Be prepared to stay on top of everything!
This professor feels clumsy; the way the assignments are set up is very vague, and she takes upwards of two months to grade her assignments. On an average week, you will have 3-4 assignments. Midway through, you'll have a huge paper to write that is 300 points. This class requires you to be on top of everything.
I would not at all take this professor, Take her only if you really have to. Her assessments are really confusing sometimes and she takes weeks to grade. There is also a big project worth a lot of points at the end of the semester which is ridiculous.
France's class is demanding, but manageable if you stay on top of the work. The slow grading is frustrating, but the feedback is valuable. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for me - a great study tool alongside the course materials.
She takes so long to grade assignments, small or big. Once you do get a grade back, her comments are not helpful. She is a TOUGH grader, TOUGH!!! I have always done well in English/Writing classes until this one. I have been mostly confused the whole semester. Her layout is confusing and her instructions are very long, but yet don't explain much.
Professor France knows what she expects from her students, she has clear grading criteria, and takes a bit of time to grade longer essays; however, if you are able to put in the effort, ask her questions, and work hard, then you should do just fine. Sometimes the class can be overwhelming but it's not impossible.
Professor France has clear grading criteria, has expectations, and takes a bit to grade longer essays. However, she wants to see her students grow. Ask her questions and read the handouts she mentions. Sometimes I did get overwhelmed by the work but I got it done and got good grades. If you can, just put in the effort and you'll do fine.
She gave out so many assignments, papers, and in the last week, she had 3 papers do after you write a 10 page paper. Then she has a 150 question exam, after you do the papers.
Professor France is a wonderful and knowledgeable professor! Her Comp 1 course has a lot of outside reading, but this should be expected in composition courses. Her grading outline is very clear. She gives her students every possible chance to pass this course; she just wants you to make real attempts. If most participate, this is a fun class!
Professor France is condescending, passive-aggressive, and a very tough grader. She spoke to me as if I was lower than, and acted like my world should revolve around her class, and her class only. Class is manageable if you keep up with all the work she assigns, they build off each other so don't fall behind.
If your paying for this class, Throwing your cash into a incinerator is probably a better investment. A large workload with incredibly minimal instruction and any feedback you receive is typically not only demeaning but non informative. "feedback" is basically go reread this resource and figure it out. Make peace with your god, you will need them.
I took the Technical Writing course. In the beginning it's mostly quizzes and short assignments. Towards the end it gets challenging with the three biggest assignments due. The biggest assignment is worth 300 points and it makes or breaks your grade. I suggest if you take this class to use the writing center often to keep you on track.
