Science isn't my strongest subject but Dr. Shaw is great! Her lecture slides are very clear. It is a device class as well so laptops/tabs/phones are acceptable. The tests are about 50 questions each and she also gives study guides as well as non-graded practice tests. If you miss a lecture day, go online!

Interesting lectures. Helpful and patient. Listen and take notes from slides, do practice questions and study guidelines for exams. Quizzes and easy/short papers increase chances to get an A.

Dr. Shaw is an excellent physiology professor. I know everyone thinks Dr. Street is good but I personally think Dr. Shaw is outstanding. She is willing to help in office hrs and in class. She cares and wants students to learn. I graduated from UC Berkeley and she is better than profs there! Go to Office hrs, and study. I got a 100% - no tutors!!

All of her lectures are online, she lets you leave the lab early, and is super sweet! She drops the lowest test score and is super dedicated to help students who ask! Love love loved her and would definitely take her class again

Professor Shaw is amazing! I highly recommend taking her for Bio 20. All of her lectures are posted online, along with lecture slides, study guides and practice quizzes for each test. I have found that if you take the practice quizzes, they are harder than the actual test so it basically preps you. Best professor I've taken BY FAR at Saddle.

study a lot and you'll pass, final is worth most your grade, even more than all your tests combined. just get ready to study hard and a lot. overall nice teacher.

Dr. Shaw is lots of fun, she always let's you come by at office hours to get extra help understanding or to look over past tests and talk about what you got wrong an why. She tries to make lecture and lab fun and entertaining. She's really into bio memes, some of them can be funny. Overall she's a super nice, caring, and easy going teacher.

Professor Shaw is an excellent and immensely helpful instructor. I feel fortunate to have had her as my instructor for BIO12. The class follows Dr. Street's syllabus and Professor Shaw presents the material clearly. She is available for office hours and email for any questions. Dr. Shaw is so wonderful. Physio is a difficult class, but she breaks things down into easy to understand portions. She has a great sense of humor and really cares about her students. Her study guides for the test are really helpful. Overall, a great teacher.

This teacher is really sweet and wants everyone to succeed. This class is just a weed out class for nursing so it is VERY VERY challenging. I am personally doing Occupational Therapy and this class was challenging for me because I am not going into nursing and this class is 100% nursing focused. In order to succeed you need to go to the TUTORS!!!

Physiology is a difficult class to be honest. It needs a lot of your time to study so you familiarize the material. Tests are more on conceptualization, so you have to know the basics and learn to apply them!! Professor Shaw is so nice to give study guides, practice test handouts and extra credits to help you on the tests. She wants you to succeed!

Professor Shaw is an extremely knowledgeable and kind teacher. She really cares about her students, and takes the time to explain difficult curriculum. The class is very difficult. However, P. Shaw does add a ton of extra credit. Study and go to tutoring.

Probably the best professor I've ever taken. I've taken classes at 2 universities and 2 community colleges... Honestly she does spoon feed you the info but it's a lot of info to learn which makes it hard. As long as you memorize the PPTs and study the study guides they give, you'll get an A. I wish more professors were like her!

Bio 12 is a TOUGH class but I wouldn't pick ANY other professor than Dr. Shaw. Super nice and approachable, she offers a lot of extra-credit on her exams, and takes time to put together review sessions for her students. She cares about her students and, while lectures drag on, she made Bio 12 an overall pleasant experience.

Professor Shaw is great! Everyone freaks out if they don't get into Street, but honestly Shaw is equally as talented. She is a little bit more up front with what to expect on tests as well! However, if you don't reconsider your major 32x during this course, you're not doing it right. It's VERY challenging but you learn SO MUCH!!

Defiantly take this teacher! It's a hard subject so you have to work for your grade. But Professor Shaw, almost spells out what will be on her tests. Just study, and study some more and do her study guides and your almost guaranteed a good grade. She has office hours before class where she will help you work through anything you might be stuck on.

Tried physio 2x with Street but just couldn't get it. Took it with Shaw and I actually UNDERSTAND the material. She's much more approachable than Street, which is great for students who have trouble asking for help. EC is offered on each exam, which helps tremendously. Follow Shaw's powerpoints & watch Street's YouTubes as a review and you're set!

Dr. Shaw is an awesome Professor! Medical Physiology is not an easy class no matter which way you cut it, and Dr. Shaw made it interesting and understandable. The lectures were long, but I'm glad they were because I was rarely left with questions, and when I did have questions she was always available outside of class during office hours to answer!

Kat Shaw is a gem. She is so kind and patient. Her lectures are long and you definitely need to go into each lecture prepared - either have notes completed or have watched Karah Streets youtube videos. Tutors are available and should be utilized. This class needs your full attention every day and find a study group!

During class she will have participation points, so you have to show up in order to recieve them. It is all lecture, notes and videos. She offers extra credit opportunities which are very easy, I think there are 3 or 4 opportunities. Lectures are a bit boring but just because it is a lot of information. She doesn't mind answering questions!

This is a long over due review but it had to be done! I had to take Physiology twice with Professor Shaw but it was my fault. I learned my lesson! The first time I was not studying as much as I should have been and when I retook it I was blown away by how much better I understood everything. She is a great professor always willing to help!

Buckle up... Physiology is by far the hardest class I've ever taken. This class takes WORK. Shaw is understanding & recognizes how hard it is-- pandemic or not. Show up to class. Prof Shaw went above and beyond. She was very approachable & a prompt communicator . Watch all of the recorded videos and study your power points until you know it all. Study, study, study, and if you don't understand, watch Street's videos/ GO TO TUTORING. This class is NOT easy; IT IS CHALLENGING AND REQUIRES YOU TO PUT IN WORK TO GET AN A!!!!!

Took Professor Shaw, for Bio 40, which is evolution for non-bio majors. Best choice I could've made, there's not textbook purchase required, I learned a lot, and the A is very achievable. Recommend 100%

You have to put up with a lot of hw and studying outside of class to get the A. Take tutoring, do her extra credit quizzes. Study the hw packet, look at her study guides or any materials she puts out. This class is not easy but if you put in the effort and no social life it is possible to get an A. No prof. offers a lot of EC on exams than her.

Take her. She gives a lot of EC on her exams. Take tutoring outside of her class to succeed. Study the hw packet, physio exes, study guides, and STUDY EVERYDAY. In this class; you will have to sacrifice your social life to get an A. But this will be far most HARDEST nursing course you ever take. Study hard. She is also responsive to her emails.

She's an awesome professor, you can tell she really cares about her students! Very responsive to emails. The hw, physioex and lab manuals take time to complete so don't procrastinate on them. Lots of EC opportunities, so don't miss out on the free points! There is a textbook available but everything you need to know are in the lecture slides.

Professor Shaw was an amazing Physiology teacher. Her lectures are clear and descriptive, she explains material very well. Lots of extra credit which helped a lot. This class is very difficult but if you study hard and review her recorded lectures (and Dr. Street's videos), you'll understand Physiology!

Hardest class I've ever taken. Success watch every lecture, use Shaws cheat sheets, try to get every extra credit point (helps bump test scores) and ATTEND TUTORING!!! Shaws cheat sheets are amazing, she goes above and beyond to prepare you for each lecture/lab exam. Go to office hours, ask questions, and re watch lectures you don't understand.

Professor Shaw is the nicest teacher I think I've ever had. She cares so much about her students, and even gives exam reviews on her free time. The class was very hard, it's physio, but getting an A is totally attainable if you put in the effort. My only complaint would be that she's a little boring when she lectures. It was hard to stay focused.

She gives extra credit for the unit exams, major plus. She is very nice and answers questions really well. If your taking physio online, its hard but she gives everything you need in the modules and no textbook cost. The textbook is supplemental. Study hard and you will do well. Prof Shaw is a good choice for this class. Use her study guides also.

The course is really tough, but getting an A is not impossible. You just have to study hard. Use her study guides and ask questions. Professor Shaw is very caring and helpful. I took Evolution as an asynchronous class with Prof. Shaw. The class is very clear and the content is very consistent. With it being asynchronous I never really met Prof. Shaw, but every time I had a problem with the content she was quick to respond and was very helpful.

The subject is hard, packed full of info. She's available to students, has videos, power points, study guides, & other diagrams available- study them all. Fill out her study guides & understand concepts. She allows access to the week ahead. Do homework (find online), quizzes, and watch videos first, then focus on the difficult concepts of that week

class in general is one of the most time consuming class I have ever taken, However the way she delivers the information makes the concepts easy to learn, lectures are long and she does talk about different information covered later units early on which is unnecessary. Don't memorize! just understand! an A is easy to get if you spend enough time

Hands down, the best course i've ever taken. Literally the easiest A you can receive taking a science course. This professor is super sweet and understanding in situations where you might need extra help or an extension on assignments. You also have unlimited chances on your quizzes to ensure a perfect score.

Her lectures are VERY in depth and exams are heavily weighed, but she equips you with all the resources needed to succeed. Make flashcards and study all her study guides (she makes visual/color coded diagrams. USE THEM.) Tests are straight forward if you do her reviews and study past quizzes. she offers SO much EC so just put in the work.

Take her! Her study guides are so helpful as well as the concept check questions. As long as you understand those you will do good on her exams . She offers a ton of extra credit as well so take advantage. I was really stressed going into this class, it is a lot of studying but she prepares you well for all the exams.

She's a professor you wish to have. She is extremely organized and explains the lectures very clearly scientifically and in layman's terms. I appreciate her being detail-oriented especially in lab exercises and Physioex. She is soft-spoken and funny with a witty sense of humor. She gives EC which is very kind. I just love her style of teaching.

Class is easily the most well-structured course I've taken. There's a lot of material to go through and lectures can be quite long. I went through it in 2x speed and filled in the study guide as I went. She's super sweet and very intelligent, very good at digesting hard topics. Getting an A is doable and I felt like I learned so much valuable info.

Shaw is the nicest prof I've had. She is so kind and really wants her students to succeed. She gives ample extra credit opps every exam. All her study guides are provided with hand written notes of her own. Her lectures were on youtube and are a little long and she does tend to ramble, but she is the best physio professor there is at Saddleback!

She is very kind and cares about her students. Time consuming class, lectures are long, in depth, a lot of studying, but she does a lot to help you prepare for test. I did tutoring with Antionette and that helped a lot! She simplified everything and explained what topics to focus on for test. Take Shaw and for a tutor use Antionette!

Proff. Shaw was an amazing teacher I recommend her anyone who has yet to take physio. This class is hard no matter how you slice it. She has all of her lectures recorded and she went back and edited them so theyre not too long and irrelevant. She offers extra credit every exam and will do anything to help you. No textbook, but physioex is required

Prof. Shaw is the best professor!! She is super caring towards students & it's extremely apparent that she loves her job. She's incredibly kind & always makes herself available to answer questions. I am grateful for Prof. Shaw & although physio is a very dense & difficult subject, she will absolutely make it easier to get through. TAKE HER CLASS!!

I LOVE her!! She is very nice and patient. Although she has so much material but you don't need extra material like textbook and youtube. Following her is enough!! She provided a bunch of EXTRA CREDIT. You have to study!!! This class is a challenging subject and very time-consuming. But she definitely a good choice at least for me.

all prof. shaw's lectures are exceptionally informative, pre-recorded & accessible in a well-organized manner from day one. she also gives a LOT of extra credit & awesome practice quizzes. (the only drawback is that, because all necessary material is on canvas, mandatory in-class sessions sometimes feel like a drag) take this professor!!

This is one of only professors I would consider giving a 5 her exams were well spaced out and she offered 10 points extra credit on all her exams except the final. Her lectures were extremely long which is theonly gripe I had. This class is extremely difficult but I feel like with all the EC she offers and if you work hard an A is achievable.

While this class does have a lot to take in, she clearly loves the subject matter and goes above and beyond giving extra credit and spending time explaining anything students have questions about. All of her lectures and powerpoints are on canvas, which can be time consuming if you watch all of them, but they really help, as well as physioex labs.

If you plan on passing with an A, buckle up! You will have no life. This course is very dense, it is very easy to get behind fast. You have to do well on the exams or else your grade will tank quickly. They are 80% of your grade. USE THE STUDY GUIDES this is the hardest class I have taken, you have to be very disciplined but it is worth it.

It is a very hard course, however, Dr. Shaw is excellent at teaching it. I really enjoyed her style of teaching and her lectures.

Physio with Prof Shaw is a must! Loved her teaching style and you can clearly tell she's passionate about the subject when lecturing. Very lecture heavy but you can speed up the videos to your liking. DO THE STUDY GUIDES AND PRACTICE QUESTIONS, they're immense help! Labs are fun and interactive; no textbook but PhysioEx. Lots of EC on exams

Study guide+ Lecture is enough. I bought the book but did not use it. She compounds 1-2 questions from previous lectures and most questions require you to APPLY what you've learned from the study guide. Tests are terrible monsters but study guide marks all their weak spots. I always did better than I thought and end up acing all the way.

Easiest class ever. Great layout and is super organized. The information was actually very interesting and plenty of extra credit. No proctor on quizzes. Business major so this was my science credit. Very simple class!!! No final. Professor Shaw is the best She was also super helpful!!! Left great feedback

knowledgeable and nice professor. study guides for lecture tests and final make tests relatively trivial. she made physio feel fairly easy as long as you apply yourself. only bad thing is class feels like a waste of time going over unimportant information. watch lecture videos on 2x speed

Great experience. Dr Shaw makes it possible to earn the grade you want if you put in effort. I started the class poorly but raised my grade from 74 to 80 in the second half of the semester. Lots of extra credit. Study practice quizzes. Only complaint was that the lectures were very long, so I sometimes used Street's lectures. Dr Shaw is very nice.

Professor Shaw is an amazing physio professor. Very organized and provides solid material to prepare for exams and understanding concepts. I really liked her approach in breaking concepts down. Super kind and caring towards your success in the class. Lots of extra credit. Wish she taught micro because I would love to be in her class again!
