How can you think this teacher is easy? Either me and my friends really suck at econ, or whoever votes postively on this teacher is an econ major, nerd!
She was easy, if you couldn't pass econ 1a, well.... its a high school class
if you didnt think this course was easy, you might have been reading the wrong book
This class was easy and the professor was hot.
i liked the class, she was a good professor, but her voice put me to sleep sometimes!
She's not bad but rather boring. Would not rely too much on her lectures.
A solid teacher plus she's hot! Her ass makes the class alone worth it.
http://econ.ucsd.edu/newsletter/images/antonovics.jpg hard to understand why many of you find her hot!!!!!
This class is very interesting and the professor does a GREAT job at explaining the material. She writes everything on the overhead and has very clear writing. I just took the first midterm and it was pretty easy. The TAs are great at explaining any questions also.
midterms are mult choice and short answer. if u go to lecture it is easy
She's a great professor and she does a great job explaining the concepts, but if you're like me and you just don't care about econ, this class will require some work. Attend all the lectures and try to stay awake!
She is a Great professor...
Very easy class, if you attend all lectures and write down everything she does on the overhead, it is very easy to get an A. She is kind of a butterface, but from the back row she looks pretty good (50-yard rule). Overall a very good professor.
Exams are based on her tests, so you probably should attend her lectures. However, if you do then the midterms should be a breeze.
Class was fairly easy compared to other upper div econ, and was surprisingly interesting for 8:00 am. Prof seems very passionate about material, and isn't bad looking either.
A total scepter. Everything is good scepter her face, and her class. Very boring. Nice class if you want to sleep somewhere other than your bed at 8 in the morning.
I know that Antonovics is a good professor, but it was extremely hard to be introduced to economics in a huge lecture hall at 8 AM. Try to take a smaller class. The homework was helpful, the exams were extremely fair, but don't expect to get an A unless you truly understand the material.
She presents great notes that are clear and easy to understand, but this is not an easy a class. The material seems like common sense untill you do the homework and tests.
I thought she was just average. It didn't seem like all the test questions were on what she said they would be on. Maybe it was just me, though, because I made stupid mistakes on the final - easy to do.
she is a wonderful professor! i wish more professors were like her. Also, be sure to attend lectures because her tests are ALL on the lecture notes!
She's not bad. Lectures are completely unnecessary if you read. I wouldnt take this class in the morning.

She walks and points to the powerpoint screen like a ballerina. She MUST have been a dancer.

I hated that class. I didn't like the way she taught and she seemed to be very bitter with life.
Most awesome professor ever!!! Final is just acculation of the midterms! If you understand the problem set, u are set for midterm and final.
Her tests are very easy.Sometimes she seems lost in speech. She repeats the samething too much. But in general a very good teacher.
awesome professor, very clear, easy to understand, gives practice midterms/finals, don't always have to go to class and you'll still get a good grade
She is thorough with her explanations, making sure she thoroughly answers any question that someone might have. She is direct and straight-forward with her lectures. She knows her material very well.
I think she makes easy concepts harder than they should be. A lot of the time it seems that she is making sense to herself( going on and on) but what she is saying doesn't make sense. She does provide sample midterms which are reflective of the material found on the midterm and final. Not a great teacher but not bad either.
Not only is the material inherently interesting, but Antonovics makes it very clear to understand as well as fun. Her lectures notes and exams sufficiently test your knowledge of the content but doesn't get unncessarily tricky. She's the perfect professor, especially for this class. TAKE IT!
great econ teacher. good lecturer. willing to answer any questions asked in class. tests are representative of the lecture, hw, and practice tests. if you understand those then you should do fine on the tests.

Very easy and good class....antonovics is probably the best teacher ive had here so far, the econ department needs more like her. make sure you go to lectures because her tests are straight from them....i never opened the book all quarter and got an A with studying about 30 minutes before each midterm and the final, but i still learned a lot from h
definitely
hey lectures are neat and organized, the hw is helpful, and the material on the tests is just like the hw and lectures. kate also has a nice backside, and i enjoy it when she turns around to look at the screen.
She's not a terribly interesting professor, but her lectures are very clear and organized. She lectures very well. Her homeworks are helpful and easy, and midterms are easy as long as you pay attention in class. You basically don't need the book if you go to every lecture. (although a little hard to do for an 8AM class...)
She was the best professor I've had thus far. Very helpful, nice, good lectures, supportive, and midterms/finals are reflective of assigned homework and practice problems.
Antonovics is a great teacher, I'd definitely recommend taking her class. She uses pre-made powerpoints that she draws on throughout class, which is a great teaching method. Very clear, willing to help, friendly; homework assignments are relevant and moderately easy. Don't think I even opened the book once but still getting an A. Learned a lot.
Class is really easy. Lectures are not bad, just print out the power point notes and follow in class to fill in the blanks. Aplia is not that great, but overall the class was not bad.
The class is not that difficult, because she makes the lectures really clear. On some of the exams, she used questions from previous years' exams.
She is very clear. I highly recommend her.
The material is very easy so there is not much to say on that topic. She explains it clearly enough and overall is a very good teacher. It is also worth noting that she is very hot, probably the best looking professor I've had. She's also very nice too.
Very good professor. She is clear and has very organized lectures. Tests are easy!! Just do the homework, and attend lectures. One bad thing is that it is at 8 am.
A great, and enthusiastic prof! She tries and does well in getting students to relate to the subject! She's also interested in getting you to learn! A GREAT start for Econ students.
I took this class as a freshman, and it was relatively easy compared to my other classes. She is a good teacher and uses real world examples making the class easir. The exams are very similar to her practice tests and her notes are really nice. This is an easy class.
Class is an easy A if you do all your homework... or if you do not do your homework, you do your reading. I had it at 8 am and fell asleep but for the lectures that I was awake for, the lectures were informative and you could take notes on the lecture notes that she posted on Aplia (a program online which makes you pay 35$ for enrolling)
she is awesome! and so cute. classes are very well prepared for and she explains economics to fit into everyone's daily lives. very accessible and even e-mails us reminders about the class. seriously one of the best professors i've ever had!
she is the best econ 1 teacher there is. I had the 8 am lecture and she made it worth going to. I think she does a great job covering topics in easy terminology while putting it into real life situations. First midterm is kinda hard, second is easy. Go to class, do practice tests, and u will get an A. not much book work
Excellent professor! Midterms were easy, just go to the lectures and do your aplia assignments and its a sure A/B. Discussions are optional.
Material isn't very hard to grasp if you review the notes from lecture once or twice (you don't need to read the book). There are two midterm exams in addition to the final. The exams are fair and similar to the exams from previous years that she posts online. All homework assignments are through www.aplia.com. Pay attention and go class = easy A/B
Amazing, Wish she was teaching ECON 4. Easy if you do your work and study lecture notes. no hesitation: TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
Easy as advertised, because of this, there is no curve whatsoever. Which means getting an A on both midterms and a B on the final leaves me a B for final grade. I didn't go to lecture at all, probably could have picked up an A if I gave the final more priority (instead I studied for major classes). Still viable for an "easy A" class.
Kate ROCKS
This class isn't as easy as everyone makes it sound. Definitely go to the lectures!
She gives you the template of her powerpoints so you can fill them in during lecture. Attend lecture and discussion if you want to understand the material (the textbook is a supplement to her lectures). First midterm was easy but the second one was tough. I would definitely recommend this professor.
Really good instructor, does a great job of explaining what aren't some of the easiest concepts in the world. Generous curve on exams, lots of helpful materials including lecture templates, podcasts, and old exams posted online. She tries to keep the class interesting by relating economic concepts to music. Very very highly recommend this class.
great prof! she is clear. she posts powerpoint templates online for you to print and fill out during class. you must go to class though to get notes, even though you can get notes from classmates, it will still be confusing! so, go to class! she doesnt really refer to the book. i think her notes are better and easier to understand than the book.
It definitely helped that she was kind of attractive. She was extremely clear, punctual, and commanded her information very well. It was mostly a lecture-based class, which worked to my advantage. I went to her office once, and it helped.
Professor Antonovics was awesome! Her lectures are very clear and easy to follow. If you miss lecture, they're always on podcast although I find it easier to just follow along during class. Never read the textbook because MT and Finals were based on her lectures. Really easy class if you go to lectures. Def. recommend her!!
Helpful and nice professor. She explain things claer and make sure u understand. Textbook is not need. I think her lecture notes are even better and easier to understand. However, the exam is not that easy.
Very good.
She goes through her slides very thoroughly and I think she provides podcast of her lectures, although I never used it. Aplia sucks but free points! GO to sections and understand the section questions. The tests are heavily on the free response questions which are very similar to the questions TA's go over.
Antonovics is a decent teacher when it comes to explaining concepts and teaching. But it's an 8am lecture and she goes way too fast to absorb and learn what she's saying. She has 2 midterms... multiple choice is very much like the practice exams but free response can be tricky and unlike any section questions. Not the easiest like everyone says.
Failed this class despite studying continuously. She's a bit boring but tries her best to make sure everyone understands. Most of the people in my section were confused. Seems simple but it really isn't. Overrall, it was a difficult class.
The class is pretty easy. Reading the book helps, but it is not madatory. Her lectures are very helpful. Do the practice test and go over the lecture notes and u'll be fine
She is a really great professor and the material is not hard if you read the textbook and do the homework problems.
She's a great teacher and is very easy to understand, but if you miss a lecture you WILL fall behind. She posts incomplete PowerPoints each week to be completed in lecture, and it is imperative that you attend. Homework is based on the text and lectures, and tests are based mostly on lecture. I highly recommend her!
If you have to take Econ for whatever reason, take Antonovics! She's clear, helpful, the homework is simple, and the midterms are pretty brief. It's almost refreshing compared to your other classes that are pretty intense and stressful.
Her lectures are very clear and she's very on top of things. She posts plenty of practice questions before tests and they're very representative of the actual tests.
Professor Antonovics provides a lot of practice problems that are very similar to what you will see on actual exams. She is fair and you'll learn a lot, but it is imperative that you comprehend the material as the class moves forward. This is a class you DO NOT want to fall behind in! Clear lecturer, really nice and overall a great professor.
She posts lecture slides on TED before each lecture, so you can print them out and take notes on them. She is very easy to follow and throws in jokes occasionally. Plus she is really hot. Got an A+ in her class last quarter.
Her lecture is really clear and easy to follow. Explains things well. Clss style is easy for note taking. Make sure you do the practice problems, they are very likely going to be the type of prblems you are going to see on exams. I would definitely recommand her.
Look at all those happy faces! Take her!!
Professor Antonovics was an excellent instructor, especially for me when I was a freshman taking ECON 1, her excellent teachings laid a solid foundation of the understanding of economics at the beginning of my time with my major, which I think is necessary for one who will go on to take so many more economics courses. So she's recommended.
Just study the lecture notes and you should do well. Most of the exams are multiple choice with a couple short answer questions at the end. If you have taken econ classes then a lot of this class will just be a repeat.
clear teachings and notes
Not difficult. There're online homework sets (required but not too hard) and section Q's (not required but are incredibly helpful b/c her exams have a free-response section). She posts ppts online but you have to go to lecture to fill in the missing content. Reading the book really helps, but she goes over everything well enough in class/
it is hard to get A in her exam
she is really an incredible instructor. very clear!!
Good professor, clear teaching and good command of the subject. But the curve might hurt you if there are too many smart kids in the class. Friend with an 84% ended with a C.
Go to lecture, pay attention, take notes, do the homework and practice the short-answer questions. The exams are based entirely on the homework and the practice questions on TED. If you can do those, you'll get an A.
I think she has her TAs enter her ratings. Stay away! Class is disorganized, exams and discussion notes are full of errors. Exam is way too long for the 35 minutes you get to take it in. The material itself isn't too hard, but that's the same for whomever teaches the class. Do yourself a favor and skip this Prof.
Tests are wayyyyyy too short for the amount of questions. no one ever finishes on time. ok lectures, just study hard.
Very helpful professor, very clear notes and makes you know what she is talking about. Exams are little bit challenge, but if you go to lecture and discussion, it would be fine. Always welcome at office hour to talk with her about your life.
Good teacher overall but her midterms are way too long for the amount of the time given. She commits occasional mistakes during lectures but its no big deal. Exams are easy but you have to pace yourself.
good professor, the midterms are not hard. homework is easy.
Antonovics is a very good lecturer. Her midterms were pretty easy, aside from the fact that they were a lot to complete in the time given. The final was not as challenging. If you take her, make sure to do the discussion questions and print out the lecture slides!
GREAT professor! Tests are fair. Listen, do homework, and study. Average hours per week I studied for this class was about 2-3. The final reflects the midterms. She also provides a lot of study material (i.e discussion questions, homework questions, practice midterms and finals). Great class to take overall. Love it :]
The material is fairly easy. The midterms have easy material but there is not enough time to finish so you lose points that way. You may think you have a good grade, but wait until she posts the grades on tritonlink. The curve is so weirdly designed so that your number grade seems good then you look at your letter grade and you cry. Stay away
Very helpful and friendly during office hour to answer questions and discuss everything under the sun. She uploads partially complete slides and annotates them during lectures. A easy class if you master the concepts (study notes, online homework and discussion problems. Old exam may help but you can ace without it) Competition is INTENSE, 93 is A
Good teacher, lectures from powerpoint and explains the material relatively well. She pretty much goes over the things that the book covers and that are needed for the test. She tweaks her tests a little bit by wording them differently, so be careful. Other than that, a very clear and nice teacher.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. She is brilliant and knows how to teach. Some of her very effective analogies will stick with you and you will remember what you learn in her class.
She sets a bell curve in her class (76-86 was a C). Her lectures are very helpful and she's very clear. Make sure to score high on the MTs and F since they're what weighs into most of your grade.
Her slides and lectures are super helpful. Her tests are fair. She knows what she's talking about. The majority of my class did really well in her class, which unfortunately made my original grade a B+ because it curved down. However, she realized it was too hard of a curve and I ended up with a A-.
Really awesome teacher. She is extremely clear and the material is interesting. She always combines theory and empirical work.
I took Professor Antonovics for my lower div ECON, so I thought I would give her a second chance. I don't like the way she teaches. She speaks very quickly and never captures my attention. I thought she would be an easy B but it was very easy to underestimate her class. Puts several MCs on her exams. That was the most difficult part.
Professor Antonovics is one of the best teachers I have had. Her lectures are clear and easy to understand. Her tests reflect what she teaches in class, which is the reason why most people do very well on her tests, and that makes the curve a little difficult for us. But she does fix the curve, so it still is more beneficial for us.
the best teacher!
super easy tests, average amount of homework, very clear and organized lecture, Iclicker needed, I love the professor
Professor Antonovics' lectures really flow seamlessly into one another. I just transferred from De Anza College in Cupertino and found her class to be very enjoyable. She is an extremely tolerating person. Throughout the quarter Fall 14' a couple always sat in the front rows being lovey dovey right in front of her and she never told them to zip it.
Read selectively from textbook, attend lectures, do practice tests and make sure you understand what you got wrong. Know the concepts really well and it'll be an easy A for you.
Chances are you have her for because of a GE req, but she seriously does an amazing job of engaging the students in her lectures (clicker questions) and making econ interesting to learn. Econ 1 is not particularly hard, so going to lecture and taking notes is all that's needed to learn the material. Tests are straightforward, DO THE PRACTICE EXAMS.
She's a great lecturer, always gives clear points on topics discussing. An expert on using clicker and projector resource. Would take her class again.
If you're new to the subject of economics, Prof. A is the way to go. All her lectures and assignments are so helpful and make it very easy to understand the topics. Her tests cover all the material in class and should be fairly easy. I never used the textbook but you do need the connect plus access code and iClicker. I never attended discussion.
She's a good lecturer, but talks too fast. The practice exams help, but you can't just study off of them, you need to understand the material too. B's are doable if you do the work, solid A's are more challenging. She curved down last quarter which sucked.
She's a very good teacher who provides a lot of extra things outside of class to look at for better understanding. Disappointingly though i came out with a B+ in the class because she curved it so a 91 was a B+. But overall a very great, concise teacher. Would recommend.
Material was straight forward and she was a great lecturer. Tests were mediocre, just study a little and you should be fine. Clicker questions were essential and everyone should do them if they want a good grade in the class. Don't really need the textbook, just study her powerpoints. Overall, great professor!
Antinovics is incredibly clear in her lecture and her expectations. The midterm and final are both very straightforward. Take her, you won't regret it.
She is amazing. Easiest A I've ever taken. Fair warning though. A lot of people disagree with me because the curve made a 91% a B+..
She covers every concept with step by step build ups and then a final explanation in 3 methods: intuition, empirical example, and graphically. Probably the best professor I've learned from in my UCSD experience.
One of the best professors here at UCSD. Unlike many other professors who are clearly just here for research, you can tell that Professor Antonov actually enjoys teaching. And she knows what she's talking about. Do the homework, show up to class. Only annoying thing is when students disrespect her and talk while she's trying to lecture.
Dr. Antonovics is an amazing professor. It's safe to say she knows the material like the back of her hand. She makes it easy to conceptualize the material. Her exams are really fair, they're reflective of the specific topics you cover in class. Although the discussion sections aren't mandatory, they help you prepare for exams!
Very good prof. She's nice, funny and lecutre is super organized, prob the best econ lectures out there. She posts detailed updates via TED, and also put lecture notes, podcast, and old exams online, these are all great tools to study/review. I give 2 thumbs up and I wish she teaches upper division too cuz I like her class, but sadly she doesnt
She teaches really well and class is very engaging. The way she explains concepts makes it easy to approach problems but the multiple choice on her exams are very tricky. I learned a ton from her and am even more interested in economics after taking her class. She is a great professor!
Professor Antonovics is an amazing professor whose lectures are clear and precise. Basically all you need for the exam and finals is to understand everything she lectures about. The podcasts online help a lot so that you can rewatch her lectures (more helpful than the book).
Her class is really entertaining and fun! As someone who loves Econ her lectures made me more interested. Tests are a bit hard but doable. Book is completely useless but needed for the code to do homework.
Gives really clear lectures and explanations, as well as really helpful video modules to explain specific concepts. Midterms were a little unfair. They test you more on how fast you can take the test, rather than if you know the material. Curved up for not giving adequate time for the midterm, but curved everyone down for their final grade.
First time taking a class purely dedicated to economics, and I felt like I really understood most of the concepts. Podcasts helped a LOT. Homework load was definitely doable, and she's very lenient with clicker points/HW you get lower scores on. She puts up all the past exams with answers, which was super helpful in studying. Would take again!
excellent prof!!!!Best econ prof in UCSD
Good Professor
She's one of the best professors I've met in UCSD. Great lectures, clear syllabus, no accent and light homework. She puts a lot of old exams and all the podcasts online so that you can get good feedback without actually going to the lecture. Really love her.
good professor but I feel hard to learn econ
Professor Antonovics is so nice. She really cared about her students and her job, and it shows. The class was really boring for me because the material was very easy. You can get an A if you study for the tests which can be hard. Weekly homework assignments and clicker questions provide you with a lot of easy points too.
Antonovics was great for econ 1! Her lectures were clear and easy understand and she posts lots of old exams so the tests were easy to prepare for.
amazing Econ teacher who makes you want to go to class. get the textbook only if you think you are not going to go to class (she does use iclickers though). She covers everything in class. Midterms both are pretty hard but the final is easy.
Great lectures, and she gives podcasts. She knows the materials really well and ties it back to real life. Makes things interesting. Exams represents lecture materials. Go over old exams to do well. A really nice person, accessible during OHs if you need help Take her. I strongly recommend.
The class seemed simple but if you don't go to discussion you're gonna have a bad time. The lectures only cover 40% of the material. The grades in my class were like an inverse normal curve, a lot of F's and D's with very few C's and a few A's and B's
Professor Antonovics gives great, clear lectures which she also podcasts so you don't have to go to lecture unless you want to get iClicker points. She provides examples of previous exams so her grading expectations are very clear. A bit of online homework, but it's manageable. Antonovics is a great econ professor!
She conveys her ideas very clearly. You will get an easy A if you study.
I took her ECON 139 class on Spring 2017. It's a nightmare. The midterm way too hard, 40 points is a high D. I wish the final would be easier, but the final was even harder! I studied really hard for the final but I still do not know how to do most of the questions. Plus labor economics is a hard topic to study. And you can only miss 4 classes.
It's as if she integrates economic concepts for maximizing efficiency into her own class. Time rarely feels wasted during lectures, and she's extremely clear when going over the material. The homework is light, but still very effective at helping you understand economics. Easily one of the best teachers on campus - she's kind AND competent.
Good Professor. Work Hard and you will get an amazing grade
Professor Antonovics makes great use of clicker questions and graphical visuals in her lectures, making them very interactive and clear. You can get an easy 5% for participation through clicker questions but attendance isn't mandatory. Tests are fair and representative of material. If anything, too easy!
Amazing!
Great lecturer, makes everything clear. I did well on both midterms but not so great on the final which is why I got a B+ in the class (or an A- if she curves). Definitely recommend paying attention during lectures! Towards the end I would always get to class barely on time and wasn't really focused. Her final is harder than her midterms so beware!
Kate is a very nice and caring professor. She does her best to explain things and are always prepared to answer questions. Her tests are very straightforward and similar to lecture materials. However, if you're careless and unclear with your materials, you'll perform poorly on your exams as they're often small number of questions (each worth a lot)
Professor Antonovics is very smart and energetic professor who puts a lot of passion into the work that she does. She's very engaging and although the material itself is hard, she provides the right resources and presentation of content to perform well on her assessments. Her lectures are very concise and provide lots of examples to take good notes
One of the best professors I've ever met at UCSD. Very clear lectures. She makes a lot of effort to make the material easy to understand. You'll never regret taking her Econ 1.
Professor Antonovics is amazing. She explains concepts really well, is patient with the students, has podcasts and lecture slides, has alternative grading options(you can skip class and just watch the podcast) and gives loads of practice tests. She's brilliant and you won't regret taking her,
Makes her class accessible to many learning styles with podcasts, optional clicker grading, open discussion, and short online homeworks that reinforce concepts. It's obvious that she cares & wants students to succeed, and she designs her class around learning. Sit in front and she'll help you with the clicker questions, it's worth it to show up!
