She is amazing. Take 201 with her. You will not regret it. When everyone else would complain about their com 201 class, I was the only one who would rave about how awesome my prof was. Sometimes a hard grader... but way worth it!

I have recommended her to all of my friends! She is so personable and intent on making sure all students improve in the class. Her grading is hard, but it makes it worth it in the end when your writing is awesome and you finally get the grade you want.

Sweet lady, tough on papers. Very helpful, but my biggest beef w/ her is that her expectations for the various writing assignments were not clear. Couldn't gauge her at all.

Definitely agree with an old comment: all my friends complained about com201, but I seriously LOVE this class. Burak is clever and dedicated and above all a great teacher. Yes, you'll work but you'll have something to show for it--good writing.

One of the finest teachers I've had the pleasure of learning under in all my schooling experience. She is a tough grader, but is kind, pleasent, extremely intelligent, and will improve your writing more than one would think possible in a single class.

She is the best professor I have ever had. The class was so much fun and she is a sweet lady. She gives feedback on paper and definitely improved my writing. Take 201 with her!!!

Actually enjoyed going to class, she is a smart & funny lady, appreciates if you use her comments to improve your work, she's only "easy" if you listen to her-then it will pay off for your grades! Definitely made me a better writer too

Burak only seems like a tough grader to those who can't write very well in the 1st place. Just b/c you make Dean's List does NOT mean you're good at everything. As a writer, I understood that I'd get lower grades on some of the assignments than others. VERY helpful lady, class was enjoyable!

if you're a good writer, this class is an EASY A. grammar tests and group psa are easy ways to bring up your grade for the one or two B's you'll probably get (that is if you're a good writer). if you want a nice, funny teacher who wants you to do well-GET Burak. i wouldnt have taken it w/any other

Prof. Burak is a very nice woman. Her classes were not all that informative, but she wrote the book...so just follow that. She is indeed a tough grader and sometimes writes comments on papers that truly are ridiculous...but she is a good teacher. Go to office hours and she will help a lot.

if you have to take com201, take it with Burak. most people I know who took 201 hated it, but Burak makes it fun and interesting. She's a pretty tough grader, but she's a great professor and you will learn a lot from her. she's also very nice and easy to talk to.

Burak is fun and lively. She explains writing and grammar in a clear and fun manner. She tries to get the class into the material. Helpful after class too. She is a sweet woman.

I loved Burak. She rips your work apart, but only to genuinely make it better. Enjoy her, shes great.

AWESOME. Professor Burak is amazing... she's funny, nice, helpful, and just all around great. She is a somewhat tough grader, but is more than willing to help if you ask. Take her class!! You'll love it!

She really pushes you to become a better writer and gives you a taste of what you might expect to write coming out of college. A great course, If you can handle the work :P

All this negative feedback is coming from those who couldn't handle Professor Burak's challenging assignments. She treats her students like professional writers because if you're taking CO201, you're likely to become one. A fantastic teacher, approachable, and well-worth the effort I put into her assignments.

Very nice and amusing - helpful but lets you develop your own ideas. Really improved my writing. The class isn't bad if you're a good creative writer - but if you struggle, you'll probably have problems. You have a big assignment every 2 weeks but I got an A- as a final grade. I liked her a lot - very knowledgeable.

Burak knows her stuff--she wrote the textbook that we were reading, so when we use it it's pretty useful. She doesn't assign many readings except useful ones. She's a good teacher though, and she's really nice and can be a lot of fun with the class. Everything we do is relevant to COM.

Burak is hilarious. She is a little, different?, but she is a really good teacher that makes you laugh. She isn't very consistant between all three of her sections: my roommate also had her and we had different due dates for stuff. Offer your drafts for class evaluations and it will boost your grades. GREAT TEACHER.

It's one thing to challenge your students, but it's another to never be satisfied with what they come up with for assignments. Also, you are going to waste a lot of paper in this class. She makes us do entire assignments to bring in and then makes us do them over again after we've sometimes wasted time printing multiple copies of things.

Professor Burak is so sweet. She genuinely cares about her students. Seriously, take her. If you need help, she is always there to talk. Real confidence booster too!

She is helpful, challenging, and very knowledgeable (wrote the book for the entire CO201 curriculum). She really wants you to do things her way, so don't be extravagantly creative. If you give her what she's looking for, you'll get a good grade. TIP: Show her work in progress at office hours!

I love her as a person - she's hilarious, knowledgable, makes you think. As a teacher she's vague about her wants but she wants it done her way. Rewriting doesn't often help as she'll grade you down on something she didn't notice the first time around. Doesn't like giving out As. Grammar tests were awesome - you can fight back if you know your stuf

She is a really cool professor. She is down to earth and genuinely cares about how students are doing and how engaged they are in their work. She has a good sense of humor and likes to talk with the students.

Vague in assignment criteria but is fabulous in every other aspect. I got a B+ in the course because I'm bad in grammar otherwise, it was a phenomenally easy course. Loved her and would take another course with her again!

Very helpful and caring to students. She clearly displays understanding of the subject matter as well. Her opinions do change sometimes when it comes to ideas, but as long as you can back your ideas up and argue she's generally really good. Sometimes babys you, but hey you deal with it, and you are better for it.

A truly wonderful woman, incredibly understanding and engaging. She makes an effort to personally know her students, which I appreciate tremendously. In the past, she was mostly journalism-focused, but recently she has injected the curriculum with advertising/PR projects that have real-world applications (and actual clients) Could use more film/TV.

Burak is an amazing person. She really pushes you to be a better writer and to think more critically about your projects. You definitely won't be able to skate by though. Go to office hours with specific questions and concerns and she'll definitely be helpful. A little journalism heavy, but you walk away with a lot of good portfolio material

She was great! The class was rather repetitive but the material covered was very helpful. She allows re-writes if you want to improve your grade on certain assignments. The grammar content is dull but she makes it a lot easier! Definitely, take CO201 with her!

A wonderful professor and amazing person! She really cares about her students and is very approachable. She truly made my CO201 experience an enjoyable one. However, she can sometimes be unclear but she is easy to talk to so you can just meet with her after class or during office hours. Also, if you listen to her feedback, you will do well!

Kate is the most caring professor I've ever met. She gives feedback on every paper and allows re-write. Only one news report from journalism section, which is great for me as an ad student. She focuses more on mass com. The final grammar test can be hard.

I LOVE Professor Burak. She is one of the best professors in COM and she made this class a lot more enjoyable, since the content is pretty bland to begin with. She's hilarious and knowledgeable. She's also very understanding with assignments if you need extra time. I would totally recommend her for CO201.

I honestly love her. She really cares about her job and acts bubbly and innocent when she is secretly a genius in the field! It's easy to do well if you've taken CO101 and go to her office hours. If you ask, she's very clear with what she does or doesn't like and is willing to meet with you as much as you want, take advantage of that!

Textbook I only used for grammar exercise, but nothing else. Kind of a waste of $80 but its whatever. She gives great feedback and is readily available to work on anything with you. Tries her best to be engaging and create a class that you learn and like.

If you show that you're making an effort, ask questions, participate, etc. Prof is very willing to work with you! She tries to make class engaging, and though assignment directions might be a little confusing at first, asking for feedback will clear things up.

Burak is amazing! She made a long class super engaging and funny. She always gives you time to work on assignments in class and is very accessible outside of class. Not supper hard and textbook is only used for grammar HW (Not Hard). Highly recommend taking Burak.

Kate is very caring and inspiring to her students. She handled the zoom era super well and had us greet each other at the beginning of each class. She met with us individually and gave great tips on how to improve our work for the final grades. It felt like she respected all of her students and wanted us to succeed.

She is nice and friendly. If you have any questions, you can just ask her. There are a lot of assignments and they are pretty hard.

Burak was overall a very solid prof. Class was a little slow at times but she cares about students and wanted us to learn and improve our writing. She's super experienced but humble and tries to give real-world assignments. I even used work from her class in my summer job applications because it's so applicable, so I'd recommend her for others

Prof Burak's class was okay, I didn't like the content but she did the best she could with it. She's great at helping improve your writing. Had a few grammar exams that were stupid but they didn't really matter. Burak is a sweet women, if you're feeling behind or need extra help shes always happy to chat, don't be afraid to reach out.

She cares a lot about her students and makes hilarious jokes in class.

An absolutely lovely professor to have in class. She's very nice and helpful, you just need to be willing to put some effort in on your writing. 201 is overall very chill and it's a great class to take for writing intensive hub. Would highly recommend professor Burak. PS - my only critique is that her blackboard page isn't very organized
