I really enjoyed taking this class from Kate. She was extremely informative and gave me a new interest in writing. I just got back in the education swing of things and Kate's class was a great place to start.I'm not getting the best grade but I am definitely a better writer after all is said and done. She gives great advice and is very involved.
everything written explaining the LACK of teaching and understanding is right on. I have to take the class over due to the teachers incompitence.
I'm unsure how this lady is still teaching at MCC. She takes on way too many courses and can't keep up. She is very rude and always UNCLEAR when grading assignments. Be prepared to produce advanced upper level graduate degree material, even though this is 101. Don't expect any help from her either, or you could just take a different class. WASTE!!!
I just finished my associates degree and Kate was my only B. All my other classes were A's! I had to do extra credit to even get the B, otherwise it would have been a C. Very difficult to get a good grade. Stay away from this one!
Such terrible, immature comments. Those who wish to just breeze by should not take this class. If you actually want to ask questions, learn, challenge, and apply yourself, this is the instructor for you. Show up to each scheduled class on time and bring your book. Expect to participate. Excellent instructor and easy on the eyes.
very strict on grading essay's for a 101 class. to much on punctuation as opposed to actual grammer & content. homework: just do it and have extensive respones and its A+ as for the essay's: very difficult to get an A not sure what it takes to get one, could not get a response how to either. overall she is to critical for 101 class.
She was okay but she didn't seem very willing to help out a lot. She seemed to teach the class almost as if it was middle school; just passing out papers and telling students to write an essay. BUT the work wasnt really that hard. If you're already decent in English then you'll be fine, if not, you will learn absolutely nothing at all
I don't know why people are complaining about her so much. I took her class online and had no problems whatsoever. Kate was clear on everything and as long as you follow instructions and turn your work in on time, you will not have any problems. She is a good teacher and I recommend her if you're looking for a challenging 101 class.
I usually am a lover of writing but this class slowly took my love of writing away from me. The assignments were pretty clear and easy to understand but once I got to the essays, although I could understand them, it seemed as if my writing was never good enough. If she focused more on concepts instead of punctuation, the class would be much better.
Though she was a nice lady and returned assignments in a timely manner, I never understood my grades on papers. I turned in my absolute best work and would receive high praise from her for it, and yet the highest grade I received was a B. I literally received NO criticism on a paper- ONLY PRAISE- and still got a B. FRUSTRATING.
Very hard instructor! In an email said that if you had any special requests to let her know, I did this when I had a medical problem and she didn't seem to care. She talks herself into circles. My papers were good, and she refused to give decent grades. No teaching ability what so ever!
I didn't understand the grading in this class whatsoever. I worked hard on 3/4 of my papers and still only received B's on them. I put no effort at all into my last one and BOOM!, A. I just don't get it. I wanted a 4.0 this summer but apparently doing my part to earn it just wasn't enough.
I had a very difficult time in this class but Kate was always very willing to answer questions and help where she could. She was friendly in her responses and always responded within a day or so. If you want a professor that will give you a worthy challenge, and you are not afraid of hard work and true effort, this is the teacher for you!
Her grading is very difficult to understand, she is not consistent. She only cares about puncuation, not grammer or content. I spent a lot of time rewriting essays and got D and C on two. I dropped the class to save my GPA from dropping from my 4.0. Comments on my papers were never helpful.
In grading essays, punctuation holds more weight than the theme, flow, and purpose of the essay. Other than that she is very fair and helpful.
The grading was a joke in this class, I could not understand it. The times when papers were due were inconsistant. I wish I would have read her reviews on here before I selected her as my professor because they are true.
She only graded me on punctuation and not grammar or content, and as a result I got a poor grade. Rewriting did not help, her corrections were unclear, and her there is something about the way she grades that seems suspicious. Do not pick her. I regret doing that.
Her grading does not make sense. She focuses on the punctuation and doesn't seem to care about what you actually write about. She will tell you that she really enjoyed your story but then still give you a poor grade. I would absolutely not choose her course again. I recieved higher grades and learned more in my ASU english courses.

Ms. Kate, though I will admit was definitely near impossible to pass with an A, was a good teacher. I do feel like I better writer since the beginning of the course and am glad I was presented with a challenge, but I feel like the truly hard working students do not get the A's they deserve. Always nice and open to questions however,great for prep.

All I really learned in this class is that I don't ever put enough commas in what I write. After having 3-4 people edit my papers before submitting them I still only got one A. The homework was easy to get a good grade on if you followed her instructions and completed everything on time.
Her online course is easy to follow along with the syllabus. It was appropriately challenging. The homework was a breeze, and practically outlined your essay due that week, which made it even easier. Make sure you proofread for grammar, she is big on that! She is very helpful if you e-mail her questions, and gets back to you pretty quickly.
I hate english. I took eng 101 online with kate and all the homework was very easy! There were 4 essays. She explains in detail what she wants. If you are not good at grammar WATCH OUT! She is very tough on grammar more than content. At first this was very difficult for me but if you work with her she is more than happy to help you! Good teacher!

Kate is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. She missed several classes and was un-professional. Avoid her class if you really want to learn something.
She proofread my paper 2 days before I turned it in and gave me some pointers and I took the advice. 2 weeks later I get my essay back with an F. Do not take this class!
I am currently in Ms. Mohler's class. I have had no problem in this class, especially because she is the best teacher as far as clarity and helpfulness that I have had at MCC. It is hard to find a college professor who is still passionate about their job. Recommend! Love!

Kate is a very helpful teacher. She makes all of her assignments clear and really isn't a hard grader at all, just put some effort into your work. I've gotten an A on all of the papers (EASILY). If you feel like you're "ENTITLED" to good grades just because you show up, don't take this class because Kate actually makes you work to get good grades.
This is by far the worst class I have ever taken. She will tell you that you did an amazing job on your paper, then give you a 'D' or an 'F'. Then when you ask her for help, she wont respond to your e-mail for days, and by that point the assignment is already due. If you want a teacher that is helpful, then don't take this class.
I found Miss Mohler to be a challenging professor. The site is right when they say grammar is key. She grades that fiercer than most would. Her directions and feedback are not very clear for this online class. Many an assignment had to be repeated because of confusion.
Ms. Mohler is a very strict professor on grammar but if you let her teach you and study her notes on your papers she teaches you well. I found if you work hard and show that your improving she rewards you. She also make you work and earn your grade to learn and not to be mean. I recommend her to anyone for English 101.
She doesn't ask much of you. She tries to engage her students, but sometimes she falls short of grabbing the attention of other students. I feel she's soft spoken. All in all she is a very nice woman with an easy syllabus.
Worst English professor ever. She is never clear on what she wants, so you show up to class with what you think is an amazing paper that is sub par to her. In the meetings she tells you your paper is great, but gives you horrible grades. Half of her grading is on grammar not the actual content. DO NOT TAKE

Of all my online teachers she was the one most sincerely interested in what she was teaching as well as your success. Don't expect an easy A because sh has a specific rubric. That said, I didn't have to work hard at the class because I find writing to be easy. Just follow her instructions and ask her when you're confused and you'll do fine
I found her to be very helpful in improving my grammar and punctuation. She gave us many resources in the syllabus and expected us to us them. On the major assignments she did grade hard but always gave great feedback as to how to make the paper better. For the rest of the assignments as long as there is good detail she is happy with the work.
I was inspired to take Kate Mohler's class. Feeling she would guide me in her passion for English, molding other minds in English studies. After taking her class I believe she needs to rethink her profession. She is a great disappointment as an educator.
Fantastic teacher. one of the best classes you could take. She does expect that you will do the work but does not overload you with homework. more than fair with grading and attendance.
The course itself helped my writing skills and was easy to follow. The assignments flowed into each other, building upon each other for a final conclusion of information. Kate, herself, was extremely helpful via communication when I had problems. She went above and beyond to help me inside and outside of school. I appreciate her in my life!
this course is in itself difficult and it is the instructors job to teach and be there for their students after all this is what i thought i paid for.
Worst.Teacher.Ever. She doesn't teach you anything. She grades your papers completely unfairly and doesn't explain how to fix it. You are pretty much paying for someone to mark up your errors in red ink. She lets the textbook teach more than she does.
She does not know how to teach. I learned more from reading the textbook on my own than I did from her. Do yourself a favor and take English with a different teacher.

If you don't go to class, plain and simple you will fail. She's a dedicated professor who cares a lot about helping her students pass her class. You need to turn in every assignment, otherwise you can't pass the class. The textbook we used for maybe four assignments, but you do need it. I loved listening to her, she's one of the best!

Professor Mohler was an amazing professor. She clearly stated her expectations in the syllabus at the beginning of the course and offered support throughout. She uses the text as support for the papers you write and is available for assistance when needed. Would take a course from her again.
I've never been more disappointed after taking a class than I am after hers. Be prepared to not learn anything if you take her class. Also be prepared to fail if you struggle at all with the material because help will not be received from her.

She'll mark your paper up so much that it bleeds, but she won't teach you how to fix a single error. She doesn't teach; she should just be the English department's paper grader.
She was a very good teacher. I had her online and I handed in everything and I got a b. She likes you to take time on your assignments. If you do that you will pass the class in a heart beat
Hardly ever clear on what exactly she wants on some of her assignments. Very harsh grader(believing this would help community college students by having a graduate student-standards of grading when she's really just throwing a lot of her students into the wolves too soon).
She says she, "Grades on improvement." What does this mean...? SHE DOESN'T INPUT YOUR GRADES UNTIL THE END OF THE SEMESTER. 98% of my class FAILED the first graded essay, she told us one thing, then graded for the opposite. She thinks it's cute to single students out and talk down to them like a dictator. You're supposed to be an educator.
I wouldn't want a teacher that doesn't expect you to work hard. The goal you should have when taking this class is to become a better writer. Kate will help you accomplish this goal. I would highly recommend her.
Professor Mohler is an amazing English teacher. She really loves what she does and genuinely wants to see you succeed. She does grade somewhat harshly, but that shouldn't be a problem for students who attend to learn. Kate's class prepared me well for future English classes and helped me improve my own writing.
Do not take this professor. Poor instructions. No help given. I asked her for clearer instructions at one point for one of the major writing assignments, instead of clarifying she sent back a nasty email and was no help what so ever. This instructor is rude and clearly doesn't want to be teaching.
Avoid this teacher unless you like to play charades
Go take this class if you like to pay and play charades when 70% of the class is failing (good help right?). So, expect to hear that you're doing great meanwhile getting Ds on your papers.
She says all homework needs to be turned in if you want to pass, but if your assignment is more than 24 hours late, she gives you a zero but still requires that the assignment be turned in or she will not grade any future assignments. She doesn't use any software to keep track of grades, expects you to do it yourself.
If you want to learn English, go to a foreign country and ask random people questions about it. You'll learn more that way than you will in her class. She's the kind of teacher that will just give you your grade and not help you learn the material. So If you are already a skilled writer, you might be fine, if not, you have no chance.

Worst teacher I've had since I started college. (I've taken over 40 credit hours, so I've had quite a few teachers) You won't learn in her class. You may pass, but even that's a slim chance if you struggle at all.

This is a review after being a few years into my college experience, and all I can say is that the techniques Professor Mohler encourages you to explore will help you in other classes you'll take. She wants you to develop a style of writing and convey the message you intend your readers to receive. Take her class and challenge yourself. No regrets!
She's without a doubt the worst teacher I've ever had. Don't expect to learn from her. You may or may not pass the class depending on your proficiency, but you will definitely not gain knowledge from it.
Not helpful, unclear as to what she wants us to do. Not enough explanation, I was confused most of the time. Can be sarcastic, and not in a good way. You have to do the homework in order to pass. Doesn't accept assignment if not personally turned in during the class period. If you're really late to class, she won't accept it.
She gives you assignments that are not really needed. Pointless tasks to past time. Says she frequently checks emails, though every time I email her; she responds within 2-3 days. (Did not get the homework information from when I was absent. She still blamed me for "not being ready.") No accurate way of seeing your grade. She doesn't use Canvas.
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Was very unclear as to what was expected for papers. Sometimes even rude when answering questions. Homework load was just not a good time. Save yourself the trouble and pick a different teacher.
Professor Mohler is not professional in the sense that she will try to push her political or worldly views upon her students. She will let students write about one side of a political issue, but not the other(hmm seems a little fishy if you ask me). Overall, I would say avoid this teacher at all costs. I wish I had!
Acts like a dictator rather a teacher and is not afraid to put a student down in front of others. She will comment on your paper that it is great and then proceed to give you a C. She will try to make you feel inferior when you ask questions or ask for help as though you should already know it all. I really hated school the days of her class.
Ms. Mohler gives you good advice on your work and makes it very clear when she something can be improved a lot better, if it wasn't for her good feedback I think I wouldn't have been a stronger writer. though I will warn you, sleeping in her class is not a good Idea, but what makes her a good teacher is that she's happy to help her students.
Do not take this class! Teacher is very rude and will put down her students. Unless you're naturally a good writer do not expect do to well.
Ms. Mohler was clear in what she expected and really explained assignments thoroughly. We went into depth with our personal narratives and persuasive letters and got weeks of help for it. The journals of place were kind of annoying but it's an easy A if you just do it. She takes a while to get back to you on your final grade, though.
Kate Mohler is fantastic! She will work with you on anything you're having problems with and is very easy to talk to. As long as you do the work she has assigned and don't slack off, you will for sure pass! Always ask questions and understand what she wants from you and you will get an A!

She hardly ever teaches, has unrealistic standards of how we should write our papers and just flat out rather have better things to do than to even take the time to log into the MCCD student email(Doesn't have canvas) to help her students out with more specific/clear instructions for a quick several minutes so emailing her is pretty much pointless.
I would not personally recommend this professor. Her attendance is very low and she is not all too helpful when you are in need of tutoring. She lets her personal life affect her teaching to a high extent.
The most poorly organized class Ive taken. The entire class is ran through Gmail/emailing assignments through a group email. So not only do you have to dig through tons of emails just to find an assignment but b/c all her students (for all of her classes) are on one group email so one of her 100 or so students submits an assignment you get an email
The worst professor I have had, ever. Her grading is unrealistic! I had my friend who is a published master as well as a family member who is an English teacher at ASU proof my papers before turning them into her and got F's on all my papers due to lack of comma placement?? She mixes up classes and students,and has to many students to manage.

I was terribly disappointed with the demeanor and irresponsibility that this class was "taught". It would've been nice to focus on actual writing, instead of listening to Mohler drone on about herself. Since she doesn't even have canvas, it makes communication with her that much more difficult and she is disrespectful and arrogant.
I have been counting down the days until this semester ends. Truly the worst academic experience I have ever had. Had Mohler taught from anything but her scripted lessons, it may have been tolerable. She was "ok" - I can see why some are completely turned off by her. It was difficult to connect with her personality and the way she carries herself is pretty odd. I just wanted my credit hours. It was hard to keep my eyes open, but with a little effort, I managed to pull off a C. Drink some STRONG coffee and pretend you're interested-
Professor Mohler was an excellent teacher. She gave excellent feedback and gave me ample opportunities to raise my grade.
Had her last year for Intro to Holocaust Studies (phenomenal class). I can see why a lot of people don't like her, but I honestly don't think she's that bad. Her classes are an easy A. She's passionate about teaching you how to think for yourself, rather than just telling you what to do. She's cool, overall.

She put forward minimal effort compared to other teachers I have had. Pretty mundane. Grading system makes zero sense, it was ok. I passed with a B.

I took this class online. She is rude and her assignments are tedious and have nothing to do with what you should be learning in an English class. You have to keep a "journal of place" where you go out to a public place and write about it. She does not keep grades on canvas and didn't explain grades when I e-mailed her with questions. Avoid her!
Worst college class I have taken. Rude, inconsistent, biased, condescending - continually writes fake good reviews on herself, to invalidate the honest portrayals of humiliated/dissatsfied students. Anytime you see the word challenging/compassionate in a great review , you can be assured that she wrote the review about herself. She needs to quit
She is awful - you'd do better taking a high school intro class
Her choices for motivating writing were very strange. Mohler would rant and rave about the book: The Price of Salt. She said it reflected herself on so many personal levels, which creeped me out. I felt uncomfortable writing reflections and responses with this book being the core of the class. I withdrew: it was more about her life, than writing.
I took Dr. Mohler's online class a few years back and found it to be pretty average. I didn't have any poor experiences with her, and she typically provided detailed feedback on where I could improve. I think that if you communicate well with her, you will do better in the class. If you ask her what you could do more, she will tell you.

She was always giving me feedback and helping me grow as a writer and the assignments always felt personal and genuine.
The class was explained well, as well as what her expectations were. Your grade was in your hands basically. Always gave feedback and allowed for catchup if needed! No complaints, at all - with her or the class.

It was just a very good course to take, a very good teacher
Overall great, but many due dates were not presented accurately. When she says due Sunday, she means Sunday morning. After 8am she usually changes the assignment(on google Docs) to the next week's topic.
Caring and engaging
I took this class online. The teacher was an overall great teacher. Work and the grading system was simple and clear. As long as you got your work done, you had an A. Work included 4 essays throughout the semester and two weekly assignments.
I took Professor Mohler's online English 101 class. If you do the work, you will get an A. She is an understanding teacher and seems like she genuinely cares about her students. I would take another class from her and recommend her to anyone.
Professor Mohler is awesome! I took her online ENG101 course. Shes very personable and lets you know up front what is expected to earn an A. She is always available for any questions you have throughout the semester and is quick to respond to emails. I really enjoyed her as my professor and definitely recommend that you take her class!

If you are looking for an easy online A, but still want a teacher that cares about you, this is definitely a great class for you! Assignments are very easy and different than the usual boring homework. She loves to incorporate real experiences into your work. There a few easy essays to write and two assignments that you have to hand in each week.
Stumped at those who would rate and rave that this "teacher' is awesome. Ladies and gents, plain and simple: s/he is not qualified to be teaching at a college level or even high school. She thinks she is so entertainung. Delusional. My friends warned me about taking her class. i regret not listening. Keep your $!

Professor Mohler is super caring and is really helpful when you have questions. She also creates super easy and is very flexible with due dates.

Professor Mohler is a great understanding teacher. She teaches the basics. If you do the work (its not a ton) you will get an A in this class. I took professor Mohler after taking 101 in highschool - I got a C in highschool. This class was a lot easier than my previous 101 class. GREAT TEACHER! SHE KEEPS IT SIMPLE!!!!

This is my first time being back in school and honestly this was one of my first online classes I've ever taken in my whole school life. So honestly I would always ask questions because I didn't want to get it wrong and I would email her and she would get back to me that same day if not the next morning.
You would be better off investing in Rosetta Stone to learn English, instead of Mohlers ridiculous assignments,
Took this class as summer online session over four weeks. Due to accelerated format it is work intensive. Overall, good use of online textbook and assignments, like the journal of place exercise, four essays. It kept me busy, but if you do the work, submit on time, and follow directions you'll do well.
I took Professor Mohlers English 101 online course. There were two weekly assignments along with four essays throughout the course. In a nutshell, if you do the assignments on time and follow the basic requirements youll be more than okay. I loved this English 101 class!! Every time I had a question she would quickly answer my concerns. Take it!
Easy class. 4 essays spread out through the semester. Weekly journal entries and 250 word paragraphs. Not a tough grader. If you do the work you get an A

Professor Mohler is a fantastic teacher! She has a very simple outline for the online class that if you stick to, you will pass no problem. She wants communication, so if you are going to turn something in late, let her know, shes usually very understanding. She gives great feedback and is always ready to help. The lessons were fairly simple.

Professor Mohler did a great job in organizing the course materials in a manner that was easy to follow. It was a pleasure to be her class. I haven't been in school in over 17years so it was nice to not feel overwhelmed in trying to understand the assignments. I was able to put to use the concepts she was teaching in my career path. Professor Mohler is amazing! She is so helpful and very motivated for you to get an A in this course. I highly recommend her class. Each week there is a journal entry, and a unit due. If you miss one assignment she will alert you and allow you to complete. She gives great feedback.

I took ENG101 online with Professor Mohler and the grading criteria was very clear, if you turn in your work you will get an A. If you do requested corrections, you keep your A. You have to try hard not to get an A. I highly recommend her for this class, it's a great introductory class.
I was really nervous about having to take English 101. She is an amazing teacher! She has made taking this class drama and stress free! She lets us choose the "ecosystem" to write about throughout the semester which didn't make me feel forced into writing something. A++ in my opinion! Professor Mahler has created the perfect English 101 course. She is specific about the requirements and has assembled the content to make it easy to learn. The use of different media, text, music, and videos help in retention of concepts learned. The writing assignments length vary with the topic being covered. I would suggest this class to anyone.
I enjoyed the class and feel that Im set to succeed in English 102. I appreciated that the course schedule was laid out at the beginning to allow personal schedule planning.
I occasionally felt like there was a bit too much concern over word count rather than the content. Students had written and that bothered me slightly. Otherwise the class was great and the teacher was very helpful. I also w I sh grades had been where I could access them on my own all semester. Not too big a deal I would have liked it better tho.
Wish she would give more feedback especially on bigger essays. But overall she was very nice and a good teacher.
I have taken English 101 now for the third time and this teacher really knows how to teach. I couldn't believe I got an A in this class when I failed my last two classes! Professor Mohler tells you how to get an "A" right from the start of class. If you participate and do your assignments the way she lays it out then you will easily get an "A".

Kate was amazing and one of my favorite professors. She always gave second chances to turn in anything late, she gives great feedback that helps you actually understand what she is looking for. She also guides you through all the essays making sure you fully understand that format and writing styles she is looking for. She is amazing!!!

I just finished up her Spring English 101 online class and I loved it. She picked so many topics which really gave life impact rather than some random stuff on a piece of old literature. She is super understanding and gives great feedback. The is quick to respond to an issue. I loved this class so much I had my friends pick her for next semester.

Professor Mohler has a great classroom environment. I thrive at math but English courses were/are a little harder for myself. She provided great feedback on my pieces and made herself available when I needed extra help. I recommend her to everyone who needs this prerequisite.
Taking her online class was a little difficult not in work but difficult in how she runs the class. She doesn't use the canvas calendar, doesn't use the modules section on canvas, doesn't use the grade modules section on canvas, and only communicates with you about once a week. She gave you your assignments in the announcement section once a week.
Very clear guidelines about what is expected. You will be doing a lot of writing. If you participate and do the work you will get a good grade and you'll learn how to be a better writer. Great introduction for what's coming in English 102. Professor Mohler cares whether or not you succeed and is easily approachable.

After just completing a tough to navigate class, Mohler's ENG101: a breath of fresh air. Clear about what to expect & where to find it. Plenty to read/write but hey it's an English class! I found her teachings & assignments entertaining, current, & easy to write about. Surprisingly quick to respond by either email. Fully participate: you get an A!

She is the best! Her class isn't an "easy A" but the assignments aren't dreadful and don't take excessive amounts of time to complete. She is really fair with late assignments if you happen to miss any. All of her assignments are on a schedule so you know exactly when things are posted and when they are due. Highly recommend taking her class!

Professor Mohler is awesome! TAKE HER CLASS. Great personal feedback. To pass the class: -Respond/post to her online Journal page weekly -Read/Respond/Post to the Units she assigns weekly -Finish the 5 or so essays (they are spaced out well) -Do the work and you'll pass easy.
Professor Mohler didn't put assignments into the canvas calendar; I oftentimes found myself having to re-check emails to clear up any confusion concerning assignments. I never had a late assignment and didn't have to do any revisions, so I don't know how she handles things like that. In the few emails we shared, she seemed helpful and nice.

She was not very helpful and didnt learn anything I didnt already know. Would take a more qualified teacher if I had to repeat. Suggest seeing who else is out there before settling.

Professor Mohler made English101 Online very simple and easy. She also offered great feedback and it was a nice change to have a kind professor. I took her class during the spring of 2020 which is when COVID-19 began mid semester and Professor Mohler handled it with such kindness. She based a lot of her discussions on checking in on the class. Nice
Great teacher, was quick to respond to any emails. The class was pretty straight forward and Professor Mohler made things as clear as possible.
As long as you follow the directions for all the weekly assignments and essays to a tee, participate in all the weekly questions for 'Grounds for Thought', and check your spelling and grammar like a madman, you should have no problem passing this course with an A. I rate it 4/10 on difficulty.

This was my first online course and I loved having Professor Mohler! She is very helpful, genuinely cares about her students, and is understanding when life happens. I really enjoyed the class and her feedback.

I see negative ratings, the professor is very nice and class is simple - Homework: 250+ word essay ONCE A WEEK - A couple of 750+ word essays throughout the semester. THAT IS IT Passionate about English and want to learn a ton? Don't take this class. Want an easy A if you just do your work and complete what she wants you to change? TAKE THIS CLASS.
Professor Kate Mohler is an great teacher to have. She is very thorough in her assignments by giving great instructions and help. She is always available and willing to give helpful advice on how to excel her class. Her grading system is awesome. Easy A! I learned a lot and feel Im ready for English 102. Mohlers class had great criteria to learn off of. Mohler really took time in creating a great lecture for each week. She is very CLEAR on the programs she uses ( you must purchase) , which isnt Canvas (except for emails and announcements). If you do the work , you get an A. Overall, Mohler is a great teacher and very respectable. Def. Recommended!
Only way you could fail is if you really don't try at all. She gives plenty of time to get assignments done and if what you turn in isn't A material she will give you a few days to revise the work without it being considered late. She has also made this course device friendly, so you could do the entire class on your phone. Book was about $45.

Professor Mohler has been an amazing professor. I had so much going on with the pandemic when school 1st started. She has encouraged me and supported me the whole way through. If it wasn't for Professor Mohler, I might have dropped out with all I am going through. Thanks to her I am still here hanging on.
I genuinely enjoyed this class. I always thought English was one of my weaker subjects but the brought out the writer in me. Discussion boards were interesting. The summer online class consisted of 2 weekly journal entries, 3 discussion board entries a week, and 4 essays. It was an enjoyable class. She answers emails fast too! On top of her game!
I love her, she was understanding, patient, and made English fun for me again. She even gave me a few pointers in personal writings. I really appreciate all she has done.

I have now taken English 101 and English 102 with Professor Mohler, she is a wonderful teacher to work with and so far my favorite teacher. She makes sure to give feedback for any large essays and if she feels you could have done better on an essay, she gives her suggestions and allows you 5 days to correct it if you wish.

To start off, I am not a fan of English but This teacher was absolutely amazing, every week there was a paragraph due on a link she gave. The links where always super interesting to read. She always have you questions to answer to help complete these paragraphs. The essays she assigned were always easy and fun to complete. 110% recommend.

Professor Mohler is fantastic at her job. When it comes to assignments she uses popular movie scenes, music, and funny videos to grab your attention, which makes the assignments interesting. Mohlers grading critea she starts you off at an A and will advise you when there is assignments missing or if your grade drops. Overall, it was awesome.

I took Mohlers class online due to covid for the fall semester and I really enjoyed it. She makes the assignments interesting and straight to the point. Lets you reduce assignments, and doesnt overwhelm you with the work load. I really recommend her class if youre going to take ENG101. The best decision I made! :)

I usually am very sensitive to feedback and she didnt make me feel like an idiot at all; instead she took her time and used each moment to teach me something. What you put in is 100% reciprocated by her. Make the most of it.
I loved taking this class and would take any other class with Professor Mohler. The assignments are fun to do and she really encourages the students to show their opinions and personalities through writing. No quizzes, just paragraphs and essays. She really cares about her students. Definitely recommend her.

This professor gives you a lot of ways to make your essays and writing better to prepare you for 102. Nothing too difficult, and as long as you follow the very clear criteria given you can get a good grade. She also accepts late work which is wonderful

The professor had a teaching style I enjoyed, all of the assignments for the week were due every Sunday so it stayed consistent, and she would allow you to fix errors in assignments and turn them back in for full credit, which is also very nice. Getting feedback on work could sometimes take a while, but she was a good professor overall.

Each week was a discussion post and a 250-plus word essay, and four times throughout, you will have a 750+ essay. I would recommend taking this class.
Professor Mohler was amazing! It was easy work but very informative. She gave feedback on correcting things or referred you to ask for help from the writing center if needed. She doesn't believe in grading down when a student is learning, so you will have a guaranteed A as long as you fix errors when asked and turn in all of your assignments.
Dr. Kate Mohler has shown excellence in helping me and other students make sure essays and assignments make sense. Even when I use Grammarly to fix my work, she points out what I need to rephrase or correct in a way I can clearly understand. Overall, she is a great instructor.

Professor Mohler's ENG101 class was interesting and thought-provoking. The essay topics were interesting which made the class a lot more enjoyable. The grading seemed a little ambiguous, but you are given good feedback and more than one chance to resubmit before your final grade. I highly recommend taking Professor Mohler's class.
Disclosure, this review is for the summer term over 4 weeks in total so due dates were heavily accelerated. It took me some time to adjust to how the syllabus was worded regarding how late work was handled but after that, I found a rhythm. Professor Mohler was always available when needed. Assignment prompts were thought-provoking and relevant. 5/5
I really enjoyed Professor Mohler's class. There are several papers to write but she gives clear instructions and examples on how to do so. I work full time and never felt like this class was overwhelming. She keeps you engaged with your work and gives constructive criticism on a positive level as it should be to keep you motivated.
She is great explaining and clear when trying to communicate something. I feel like you have to fix every detail of whatever you are doing because she will see it. It was exhausting doing the assignments, some of them took so long and even more if you had to redo them. She is kind, will help out if needed.

Kate tried hard, but it is a little too forced. The topics discussed don't seem that interesting as she thinks they are. I find her hard to appproach, but she is pretty nice. Maybe she got some more training over the summer and fall classes will be more interesting. Hope all have a great year!

Didn't need her "conferences" and the grading made no sense. Isn't content more important than 4th grade mark ups? Claims to always be available, but I didn't have that experience. I did talk to her and yeah, yeah, yeah everything would be fine .... Hmmmm Disappointed.
I should be able to give Kate Mohler a zero, because that's the grade she gives you if there are little grammar mistakes in your paper. Then if you ask her a question or try to get help she just says to go to the Writing Center. Professor Mohler should be giving half her paycheck to the Writing Center Ladies since they're here doing her work.

Professor Mohler wants students to be prepared for college writing. English 101 was engaging and easy to understand. She helped me develop my thoughts. I enjoyed how she graded assignments, complete or incomplete. Students can focus on writing rather than grades. Expect to follow the assignment instructions and syllabus. Print the class schedule.
Essay focused class. Grades by completion: if you put the work in to complete your assignments, you will get an A. The beginning of the semester has lots of assignments all packed closely together, but if you get a head start, it's not too bad. Easy to work ahead. Very long syllabus. May occasionally ask you to make minor corrections to your paper.
Disappointed. I had much higher expectations for enthusiastic teaching and to be creatively challenged. I agree with another post on here, that some more professional development and may I suggest maybe collaborating with more seasoned and energized teachers could make for a better use of a students investment into their education? Sorry.
Doesnt allow you to see your grade and will only update you if you are failing. Will give an "incomplete" for a simple mistake instead of taking off points. Sent me to a tutor just for them to say my work was fine, and the teacher sending me to a tutor was strange. Would not recommend her at all.
Assignments are graded as complete/incomplete. Incompletes are usually grammatical errors or unclear phrasing. Usually Gives 2 days to fix errors for a complete. As long as you are on topic, fix errors and meet the word count you will get an A. Usually 2 assignments due Sundays. 4 essays that are reasonably distanced. Final is a 5th essay.
She was a great professor, I gave a lot of helpful and instructive feedback. She made the course a lot easier for me to understand.
Professor Mohler is a wonderful college professor. I am very grateful to have been able to take her English 101 course. Her lessons were extremely clear and concise. I was able to work online and get feedback from her regarding assignments almost immediately. I enjoyed all of the assignments and homework we were given.
Mohler was great to work with. She gives clear instructions for assignments and the assignments are not too difficult if you put some effort in. She also doesn't reduce your grade by errors - all you need to do is complete your work on time and according to the directions, and you'll get an A!

Kate Mobley has been my favorite instructor EVER. Her assignments were very clear on what she wanted. Assignments were meaningful and not just assignments for the sake of assigning something. Once submitted, she gave 24 hours to redo assignments if needed and gave constructive, thoughtful helpful feedback, and even praise on your work. EXCELLENT.
I had problems with financial aid processing for my dual enrollment ENG101 class, so I had to retake ENG101, even though I passed it already in high school. I procrastinated this course in the beginning and Professor Mohler communicated that I need to get caught up. Several essays later, I passed with an A and got the college credit.
Grading unclear. Kicking myself for being in this class. Wondering if she spent most time teaching hjgh school. Teaching should be is more than grammer grading. Know what I mean?
She has an unconventional grading system, which is good. There are some downsides. Reaching out to her for questions can be a challenge due to her rude responses. When providing feedback on assignments, she points out corrections without giving specific guidance on what needs to change. Complete assignments on time, secure an A in her class.

I enjoyed taking ENG 101 with Professor Mohler. She made it easy for busy students to succeed in ENG. She offered relevant feedback on all writing throughout the class. She also made easy to pass, you would have to work harder to fail this class. As long as you complete the assignments and make needed revisions within the allotted you will pass.
She graded so harshly with completes or incomplete. She would not change an incomplete unless it was exactly what she wanted. her comments didn't even make sense when she gave me feedback.

She was awesome. Assignments had word counts and topics, leaving freedom to express yourself. Feedback ranged from "Need a comma here," to "Try again, but be more specific and end with a punch." Some may feel this is too broad a stroke to give a student.I felt this was perfect because she was leading me to think and write for myself.
Prof. Mahler was great. It's too bad she doesn't do ENG 102! In this unconventional class, you start with an A. You're give the tools and resources to end the course with an A as well. If you don't meet a standard of an assignment, you get feedback on it plus 48 hours to implement it. I like that.
If you put in the work and fully understand the assignments given to you, you will succeed in this class.
Took her online class, ended up falling into a constant loop of being stuck revising essays 5 times over which had me fall behind on upcoming assignments. Felt trapped and likely to fail, dropped the class. Wouldn't recommend the method of grading nor the professor.
we had at least 20 students, at the end there were four including me. I liked her non traditional grading, but eventually I found her feedback to be condescending. gave up on this class because I'm not going to rewrite an essay multiple times to earn a "complete" (have to have a complete in all modules before a certain date or she will drop you)
While her unique approach to grading can be unexpected, she is an amazing teacher. I knew if I messaged her, if she didn't reply immediately, she would reply tomorrow. She does everything she can to help you with assignments, and gives you plenty of chances to fix your mistakes.
Professor Mohler is a very tough grader and is very picky on word choice. I have written all of my assignments without AI, and I continue to get called to redo assignments because my word choice seems 'artificial'. I have had to redo assignments up to 4 times before they get checked as completed.
Professor Mohler used an alternative grading system compared to other instructors, one that makes it easy to pass with an A as long as you participate and improve throughout the semester. The work is not difficult, it's thought provoking and to the point. Essays max at like 1,000 words. This class is very modern compared to other outdated classes
I was nervous taking an English class because it's never been my strongest subject, but Professor Mohler created an environment where you learn from and correct any mistakes rather than get a low score because you didn't understand or misunderstood something. This was definitely one of my favorite classes that I've taken at MCC!

Don't take her class if you just go out of high school She doesn't grade only gives complete or incomplete Will literally withdraw you by her "hard deadlines" which are like every month or literally a week before the semester ends We had 22 students, there's 14 left She "cares" but doesn't at the same time Very picky, hard to please, isn't helpful
Very picky about how you write and will make you redo everything just for the sake of making you work. started with over 20 people and ended with i think 7? it seems this a lot of others experience. most if not all professors have been very positive and encouraging so far besides her. would recommend taking any one but her classes if you can.
This class was the bane of my existence the entire semester, every single one of my assignments was resubmitted by the professor. She gave little to no helpful feedback. When I set up an online meeting she was rude to my face. The class also got an email stating that this professor was bipolar so take that as you will.
Do not take this class unless you have no problem rewriting the same essay 5+ times. This teacher is the worst at feedback and very nitpicking with EVERYTHING. She'll think you're using AI because a word/sentence that you used was too “artificial” ??cmon now. Gives little feedback or way too much feedback from the nitpicking she does.
Don't take this class if you don't want to redo your work 3+ times for small errors. It's either A or an F no in between I had to redo assignments because of small errors.
This professor marked my assignments missing because she didn't like the way I did my work. at one point she wanted me to rewrite 3 essays in the span of a day because she didn't like the way they were written. she grades based off very little things.
Although she is a tough grader and I often had to rewrite many of my papers and make multiple edits, I felt that I learned something and became a stronger writer because of this class.
Follow instructions clearly and you'll be good. You can turn in an assignment over and over until you get it right so very lenient good teacher!!

Professor Mohler offered great commentary/feedback. She doesn't follow a traditional grading system, so your assignments are either marked with a complete or incomplete. What I liked is she showed us where to improve whether with grammatical errors or run on sentences. She also lets you redo assignments when given an incomplete.

Professor was a tough grader, but her policy of allowing revisions was incredibly helpful. It pushed me to improve my writing and refine my voice. I really came to appreciate her grading style. The course wasn't too challenging as long as you stayed on top of deadlines and managed your time well.
Truly there is not enough characters to write how bad she is. If you want to "revise" every single assignment in her class 3+ times, each time, then sign up for her class. If you want to get insane feedback on your work that logically don't make sense, she's the teacher for you. If you have any sense of well written work,LEAVE, she will accuse AI!
Professor Mohler is amazing! She is caring, insightful, gracious, and supportive! Yes, she has high expectations and standards -that only comes from professor that cares about her job, students and their learning and development process. I went from a marginal writer to an exceptional one. I learned a lot from her that I is applicable in real life!
I got an A in her class. Did well and communicated with her. However, she accused almost all of my work as artificial. I understand the context of this class being online, but I expected any credited professor to understand students are able to produce well-written work without online help. Would appreciate her reviewing her critiques and attitude*
I dropped this professors class. She accused me and other people in the study group she formed of using AI on everything. She also marked up every assignment and had us resubmit it multiple times and wouldn't let us move on until we completed it to her liking. I wouldn't put my worst enemy in her class.
never left a review before, but this amazing class contrasted with the problematic “reviews” led me to make an account. Kate is a caring teacher who gives every student an A! You just have to make revisions which is the writing process! The ableism in some of her other comments is so gross. Not okay, even if you have an issue with a professor.
Professor Mohler starts students with an A then helps them keep it through revision. The students who don't want to do the work get on here and complain. Professor Mohler helped me get emergency funds and extended deadlines for me! She is open about having bipolar and being autistic--so what? She was my favorite teacher this semester.
I couldn't recommend Professor Mohler enough! She truly cares and is a very fair teacher. She will work with you and is extremely flexible in providing feedback and helping with anything you need. I wish all of my professors were like her. I would take her class again if I could. I wish she was teaching English 102 as well lol
I LOVED taking this class and I wish she taught English 102. As long as you follow the prompts for every assignment you will be successful. Professor Mohler providers wonderful feedback that has helped me improve my writing so much this semester. Highly recommend this class!
She really is understanding and an easy professor to work with. There are no tests or quizzes in her class. Would take another one of her classes if the opportunity arises!
She is a great professor, read the syllabus really well and simply answer the questions in the assignment. You don't need to explain your thinking too much like other professors. Easy to work with and gives good feedback. She's available for web conferences pretty easily and it's so easy to get an "A" in her class.
I enjoyed being in this class and thought her grading philosophy was great. She allows resubmissions, telling you what should be revised and what was good as well. There are some expectations such as a 48-hr resubmission window and a strict no-AI policy. I didnt use AI and was only sus'd once, and it's just a 3 minute fix when prompted.
Amazing teacher in everything she does. You can tell she loves her job! Gives good feedback and helps students get better and prepare for the next english classes you need to take. I would definitely have her again as a teacher!
Her grading guidelines were ridiculous! I still got an A+ in the class. However, we started with 21 people this semester. When I went to check the replies on the discussion board the last week of class I only saw 6 replies. For your sanity- don't take her class.
