She is easy. Just memorize the powerpoints for each tests, which are not cuml.! ANd 3 easy 1 page papers! Shes energetic and funny as well.
Nicest lady you could ever imagine. She goes above and beyond to help all students, even in large lecture halls. Four exams total, drops the lowest grade and final is NOT cumulative.
GREAT teacher...very helpful and fair...she def. wants to see her students do well, even in a class of 300. She lets you know exactly what will be on each exam so there are no suprises, and drops ur lowest exam grade...def. take her any chance you get.
She's a wonderful teacher. Very easy to talk with and helps you with anything you need. No matter how many people were in the class, she always kept you updated with e-mails. She doesn't like when you distrupt her lectures but other than that, awesome!
Amazing professor who helps you learn the material in an easy way that convenient for the student, 2-3 short assignments that don't take longand 4 MC tests including midterm and final, lowest grade dropped, highly recommend
love her! shes awesome! Very very nice teacher
The best teacher ever... take her!
I had Kate for HRM and she was a good prof. Attendance was not mandatory but she does give extra credit for those who show up on days like spring fling or that are really nice out. She's had a ton of experience in the business world and like to share it. I'd recommend her.
She has a pretty impressive background and tries to keep the class entertaining. She does give extra credit for attendance but not mandatory. You don't need the book, just study the ppts. Super easy class. Great prof too.
The best prof. at Temple. Very helpful an interesting.SHE CARES. You can really learn a lot from her.She is comming from a business world. She knows her stuff.
She loves teaching. DO NOT TALK during the lecture. It is good tough. because she doesn`t let anybody disturb you. Study PPTs and guide book do your assingments you will get an A.
She is very very nice. She remembers people who go to class and really tries to help. She really has a lot of real experience, and knows a lot of people in business.Do study guide questions and you will get an A. There are 4 tests including final, they are not cumilative, lowest score dropped, there are also two short papers and extra credit paper
She is by far the best professor at Temple. Her lectures are simple to understand and she makes sure that you understand the test materials. She is funny and loves to laugh and tries to engage the class by injecting some business-like humor into her lectures. She is a great teacher and an asset to the Temple faculty! I love her!!
greatest teacher at temple so far. If you need to get an easy A+ take this class...she was a top executive at citicorp, merill lynch, and a bunch of other places $$$...so she has crazy connections...she actually brings in companies to talk to the class...TAKE HER!!
One of my favorite teachers of all time. She is not only extremely nice and devoted but also very accomplished. She wants everyone to do well; do the work and get an easy A. I learned a lot of practical business world info in this class. Couldn't recommend Kate Nelson more!! Best teacher

I LOVED HER SHES SO SWEET AND HELPFUL, BY FAR THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE HAD SINCE HIGHSCHOOL, GIVES TONS OF ADVICE, AND ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP EVEN IF ITS NOT CLASS RELATED, AND IS AVAILABLE OUTSIDE OF CLASS AND OFFICE HOURS FOR EXTRA HELP, SHE WANTS TO SEE HER STUDENTS DO WELL
BEST TEACHER AT TEMPLE!! take this class if you want to learn something about HR as well as get a good grade. She is sweet and understanding. Grades fairly. Take this class!
Kate Nelson should be declared a saint. She is by far the nicest and most caring professor at TU. She is this institutions finest asset and is what every professor in the world should aspire to be in the classroom. She is full of wisdom and prepares her students so well for the business world; she wants to see you succeed. Shes a A+++ professor!
Great professor. Cares about her students. Not a tough class at all. Just do the little required reading she assigns and study the powerpoint notes before exams. Lots of extra credit as well.
She is really nice. You don't have to buy the textbook and she is is extremely knowledgeable in her field. Has many years of experience and keeps class interesting. Awesome teacher.
Loved her! She is one of those professors whom I completely respect and admire. She grades very fairly and is always available for help or advice with any professional concerns that you may have. She's had so many personal stories thrown into each and every class that it made all of her topics come to life. Consider yourself lucky if you have her.
Easy lecture, but I think they are changing it to mandatory smaller classrooms for freshman in the HR field... Take her if you can! Awesome person, knowledgeable professor, easy to talk to outside class. Don't forget to read the posted articles though b/c I did a few times and missed like 10 points on one test from that alone
She is an AAA+ teacher, extremely helpful and interesting. she loves teaching and loves her student. Just follow her instructions and its an easy A.
Simply amazing! She is a wonderful professor, and a wonderful person. Great to talk to about business situations. Very knowledgable. Extremely difficult. Her class is a breeze!
Kate is the best! You are defiantly blessed if you have her for any class. She is willing to help you out in any way possible and will go the extra mile for you. Try to get her at any cost. She's worth it!
Pro: nice; Con: lazy. Honestly, I like her, and what she analyzed is really for a perfect world. HOWEVER, if you got a chance to experience the real BUSINESS world, you gotta know the downside and realize here is SCHOOL.
She is a great professor. She knows everything about on going financial crisis. An easy A++++++++++++++ Take her. Don't miss this chance to earn better grade and bring up your GPA.
Idk she's over rated but she's not that great, ok she's a nice person but she's not that great in teaching, but if you study her powerpoints, read the chapters she assigned, and read the article posted u should be fine
Not bad. Gives long lectures that are sometimes interesting and tells stories bout her own experiences, so she knows her stuff. Homework and in class assignments are very easy. Make sure you study hard for the tests because they are often jammed packed and only four of them, but she drops the lowest. Just study hard for tests and you got an A.
Great professor. The lectures for this class are 50-minutes, goes by quickly. Most of her lectures are stories about her personal experiences that ACTUALLY relate. Wonderful resource to have within FOX. And she uses TU Capture.Although attendance isn't mandatory, she has 7 in class mini-assignments. Tests are easy and she drops the lowest one.
Nelson was really good. She really wants you to succeed, not only in her class, but with your life. Her tests are pretty easy and if you go to the classes, she does some in class activities . Assignments are pretty easy if you put in some effort. Overall, she makes it easy for you to pull away with an A.
Great class, great teacher. Easy A, All multiple choice tests. Interesting life stories. Very accessible.
Professor Nelson is the sweetest lady in the world! She actually cares about the indiviual! If you make the time to talk to her she will do whatever possible to help you out. HR is a horrible class but she does her best to make it interresting! Take her and you will do fine!
Kate Nelson is by far one of the sweetest ladies you will ever meet in your entire life. Always willing to listen and ensure that you succeed in her class. Don't be afraid to get to know her, she is a well established business person who now teaches and is always looking to help out former students. Doesn't get much better then Kate.
Great teacher and a very nice & caring person. Loves to tell her life stories in class, but they actually fit her lectures. Prof Nelson is very passionate about her subject because she worked in the field for a long time. She is a great resource to have! HRM is a pointless class, but she makes it bearable.
Awesome professor planning on taking another class with her. I recommend 100%
She is a really nice person and a good teacher. Shes clear about what she wants and she tells whats going to be on the tests a class before the test! You have to go class for her clicking activities because they're worth a lot of points and they will help your grade. Her tests are easy and tricky at the same time...pay close attention!!
Best teacher. Super nice
i took this class thinking it was gonna be an easy a since she was rated so easy... BUT NO. i studied for every single test and didnt get higher than a b and all the assignments that are supposed to raise ur grade hurt it instead bc she has a grad student grading them and she is not lenient at all. overall nelson herself is nice and approachable
She's is one of the nicest people in the school and will help you with any question you have; she practically begs people to visit her cause she loves talking so much. Her tests are really annoying and kind of tricky. She also is very biased and always gives her opinion on everything; she gives you articles to read on companies she likes.
She was the best professor Ive had at Temple so far. I am taking another course with her and love it. She gave me great pointers on what to do with my degree and she has a lot of contacts.
This course is relatively easy. She is GREAT, she has a lot of connections too! A lot of extra credit opportunities and the book is not really needed for class, but to study for the test which are not too bad. People should fight to get in her class!
AWESOME KIND HELPFUL PROFESSOR...LOTS OF EXTRA CREDITS.
kate nelson is an angel. shes very engaging and approachable. the course material topics she goes over and over and theres no need to get the textbook.
Kate was an amazing teacher! She really knows how to present something that might not be interesting to a big audience. We never used the textbook, she suggested it, but it wasn't required. Print out her slideshows, bring a highlighter/pen and take notes. Make sure to read the articles she assigns for tests! Easy A! Thanks to her I'm an HR Minor :)
Absolutely amazing teacher! Do your work, pay attention. Easy A. Professor is really interesting, lots of stories, lots of good information to help you in your future, Business major or not. Would take her for every class if possible. No final. 4 exams. 3 easy assignments/papers. Random inclass activities. A++ teacher.
amazing teacher!!! i love her stories!!! she exams are from the slides. no final only 4 exams!! she gives easy extra credits and random in class activity.
The teacher is very helpful and nice. The class is also very easy, but somehow kids still find a way to fail these tests which as chicken could pass. Definitely take this teacher.
Very easy class, reads right off the slides. All you need to do is complete the 3 assignments, do the extra credit, and study the powerpoint review slides for exams, and you'll get an A.
She is awesome. She understand everyone and communicates better with her students. Very interesting person. I would take her again. No test in this class.
takes random attendance. exams are so easy! no final! the class is lectured based with powerpoints and online readings SO DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK even though she says you should!
Course should be named "story time with Kate Nelson" instead. Material could have been more interesting if she didn't just tell stories the whole time. I feel like I should have gotten more out of the course. Time also went by slowly. I probably wouldn't take her class again despite my good grade.
Very passionate about her job. She tells alot of stories inclass in order for you to understand the material which is great! Just three easy homework assignments with four exams that are easy if you study and understand the slides. She can get boring sometimes, but her class is worth taking!
She's without a doubt one of the best teachers at Temple. She wants to help if you want her help, has many connections and is just a great teacher. Go to class and you don't even need to revise for the exams. Definetely an easy A
One of the easiest classes you'll ever take. It's pretty much storytime because of the amount of anecdotes she has from her past in the business world. Only 4 homeworks and they're easy. Exams should be studied for. The book is almost never used, don't buy it. Attendance is actually taken so beware. I would definitely recommend this class.
Nelson is great! Class is mandatory but she keeps you entertained with her stories, and guest speakers. Her tests are actually a little challenging but fair. If you have any questions she gets right back to you. To quote her, "Believe you me" get her as your teacher!
I think all HRM classes are going to suck no matter who you take, but definitely take it w/ Nelson. She's the best. 5 assignments, 4 exams, no final. A bunch of little video exercises & quizzes. Don't buy the book. Just show up to class & act like you're paying attention. Study the powerpoints for exams b/c they're the exact same!
Professor Nelson is great. She's engaging and fun and has a lot of experience. She teaches you about HRM and the business world in general. Very helpful and kind.
I love professor Nelson. She has worked for various companies and she incorporates her experience into her lessons. You can tell that she is EXTREMELY passionate about what she does and she wants to help you. You just have to come to her since it's such a big lecture hall.
Nelson is a very nice lady and is definitely approachable to ask for help or for any questions you may have. The one major downfall of her class is that it is not very clear what you need to do on an assignment in order to get a good grade. This gets very frustrating. She is very big on quantity over quality so make sure your responses are long.
Nelson has had a lot of experience in the business world, and she has a lot of great insight. Plenty of good stories to hear. Watch out though, she is a crazy-tough grader! Be extremely specific in all homework answers. Be ready for the article quizzes. Tests can be tricky, so study the PowerPoints! Overall, pretty good class to take.
She's very nice and I love how she connects her job experiences to the things she teaches in class. The assignments are pretty easy but you'll get a better grade if you write longer responses. The exams are multiple choice and they're a little difficult but not bad. Very sweet lady and is a good connection to have.
Nelson is so nice & the class is so easy, but her class can be boring! You don't need to attend class, but sometimes she throws extra credit if there are only a few kids there, twice in my class. Take her over any HRM professor. She has so many connections in the business world and is a great contact to have! DONT BUY THE TEXTBOOK, U WONT USE It!
Shes not a bad professor. You don't always have to go to class, but she does do random 5 point quizzes so try and figure out when they are if you're going to skip. she teaches off of a powerpoint so thats all you need to study.
Really good teacher with funny stories and actually very helpful. Classes can be kinda long sometimes and a little boring but the powerpoints are always online and you can have access to them whenever. she doesn't take attendance. never leave after a WSJ quiz. will sometimes call you out if you're talking and it's quiet. definitely recommend!!
Professor Nelson is a really good teacher and loves teaching us all about Human Resources. She always brings in guest speakers who are all really interesting usually. She is funny and keeps class interesting. Her tests are moderately easy. Do not buy the text book. The study plan online helps with studying though, so I would purchase that.
Many people say this class is easy because it's an easy B. But if you want to work for an A, try to take a different professor. She grades on the bell curve so most people get C's and B's no matter what. Overall she's very nice and approachable and it's a good class for most people. Definitely take advantage of any extra credit offered.
Nelson was very engaged in the lectures and did everything she could to make them as interesting as possible. Her tests were a little hard, but if you take the time to study and go to class you should be fine. Overall, she made HRM very enjoyable and gave great life lessons for the business world.
Nelson is an HRM fanatic; she loves everything about it, and she loves teaching it even more. She tends to go off on tangents about her life, but they usually pertain to what is being presented in class. All classes are recorded online, and the powerpoints are posted online as well. She gives five big assignments, but they're not hard at all!
This class was super easy it was just a lot of work. You have to read because she does not tell you everything in her lectures. Very nice and respectable lady. Brought in a lot of speakers and truly wants her students to succeed in life. I wish I took advantage of her extra credit. Very moral person old fashion manners.
Very sweet and helpful woman! Learn from her PP and you'll pass but do use the opportunity to get some extra credit (30-40 in total) read the WSJ since she'll test you on it! Start doing your projects well ahead of time and if you have an average of 6-7 pages of detailed information related to the subject you can get 150150 but it'll take you +6h
She tells funny stories but the lectures a little tedious, but i'd definitely recommend taking her she's cute
She always tell stories and make sure take notes of her exam review and stories that she keep repeating each class. Useful for your input for exam.
Good teacher
She gives a weekly quiz where sometimes you would have had to watch an hour long video on top of watching 3 other videos and reading 5 articles. Her tests have questions that were not discussed in class and almost everyone failed every test so there was usually a curve. She talks too much also.
She is very clear with what we're learning in her power-points (they usually take up the entire class). When she wants to stress a point, she repeatedly tells us a story that relates to the concept to help us remember it. Assignments can sometimes take a bit of time, but are pretty easy. Exams are also easy to study for. The T is very helpful.
Nelson is the best option for HRM. Her assignments are easy and clear. The class itself is boring, I slept through every one. She records lectures and makes power points available online. Attendance is mandatory, she uses Poll Everywhere to check but you can do it remotely if a friend lets you know when the poll is up. Weekly quizzes, no final.
Very passionate about teaching and cares about her students. She tells funny, interesting, and personal stories the entire class. Theres a 10-problem quiz every week online based off readings/videos (about 1hr of your time). Theres 4 projects which are very simple and are easy A's! 4 Exams total (50MC questions each). Take her! You wont regret it!
Kate is an amazing woman. She is kind and very approachable if you have questions. There are four tests, which are somewhat difficult, and there is no final. She has so much experience and her stories offer valuable life lessons. I really enjoyed having her as an instructor.
Kate is a great teacher, very chatty but super nice! Helps with work and explain things thoroughly! I really enjoyed taking her class
She's an awesome person and knows a lot about the business world, specifically HRM. BUT I cannot stand her class in general. She puts everything online and there are mandatory videos to watch before class and she basically repeats exactly what the video said the next day in class. She says something that are so obvious and normal it gets annoying
Super easy class, very fun woman who knows her stuff!!! Tests may be trickier than anticipated but still easy.
Professor Nelson was the sweetest lady and always made the atmosphere of the classroom positive. Her years of experience shows through her lectures and when she gives examples of how course material will effect you in the business world. I would take her again. One ten-question quiz a week. 4 tests all together. 4 easy assignments. No textbook.
Kate really cares about her students and wants them to do well. make sure you study for tests, quizzes and actually do the assignments. if you do, you'll get an A.
I called her Ms. Subjective, because some of the answers on the quizzes and exams were very subjective and strangely worded. The 4 assignments took very long to do and were graded very tough. The exams weren't bad and the weekly quizzes were on videos that were in total about an hour long! Easy B, but not easy A. She gave a major final grade curve.
I really learned a lot throughout the course of this class. There are four tests that are relatively difficult but if you study for them you should do well. The assignments she gives are pretty easy as long as you take the time to answer the questions adequately.
Best professor ever! She's kind and inspiring
Kate Nelson is the sweetest teacher. She gives 4 tests and a final, but they're all really easy. She wants everyone to get an A. Also didn't make our class get textbooks
Should be mostly common sense.
Good, easy HR foundations class. Would definitely recommend. Class felt much shorter than it was, everything essential to passing posted online. No textbook for my class!!
Very good professor, looks out for her students. Complete the assignments and prepare for the exams and you'll be fine. Easy A.
The content of class is really relate with my situation now. I learnt a lot for the class. The online video and articles are very good. And the professor provides the extra credits. It was great. She made the class more funny. She told a lot of her experience or stories which she heard from others. It was really interesting.
Wow, I really don't know how people enjoyed this class and the professor. It is extremely easy but is equally boring and the professor just makes you want to leave the room. That is probably why only 50% of the students show up to each class. Now I know I do not want to major, minor, or concentrate in HRM thanks to this class and the professor.
Great lady, however lectures are very long. Knows A LOT about the industry and is good to have as a friendly mentor. Tests are hard and tend to trick people. Study the concepts hard (mostly application). Really just wants to help and get the information out for us to use. A few assignments but can be done the day of. Lenient of late assignments.
Good, to the point lectures that are relatively fun and not too long. Makes it easy to understand and retain the material. When you're taking the quizzes you will be surprised of how much you actually remember. Should be a fairly easy A. Learned a lot.
Professor Nelson is awesome. She is kind and really cares about the well-being of her students and what she is teaching. There are weekly quizzes and articles/videos to watch that aren't too bad. Assignments are easy and relevant. Tests can be kind of tricky but if you study, you'll be fine! I would definitely take her again :)
Kate Nelson goes on and on about her personal stories and experiences. Her stories get rather long but always relate to the lecture. Speaking of lecture, she is so lecture heavy. Every class is a power point which she also makes you watch videos on for homework. You can skip a few classes with being okay. Tests tend to be very tricky so STUDY.
This class is really easy and interesting. Most students don't listen to the lecture and are just on their macs scrolling on facebook. I feel bad that no one listens to the lecture but honestly they provided exam reviews on blackboard so it's easy. There is a weekly quiz on her online lecture videos. We also did a group project.
She knows the materials really well, she is so knowledgeable. We don't have to buy the text book because she will post everything you need to study on Blackboard. You should definitely take her.
Prof. Nelson was very clear with what she wanted from the beginning. Class is very lecture heavy and can get boring if you don't enjoy the material. There are polls each class to monitor participation. Tests are moderately difficult. Not easy, but not difficult. You must study in order to get an A on the test, you won't pass if you won't study.
This woman is like your really funny aunt who you can't stop laughing at. She makes class fun and informal while teaching serious, formal subjects. Easy online quizzes, fairly easy straightforward tests, and easy projects. If you show up and pay attention, you won't get anything lower than an A-. Only complaint was that my class size was so large.
Shes great! Amazing professor! Cares a lot about her students. Exams are exactly what you go over in class. Should be an Easy A
All her lectures in class are the same as her online videos. She also teaches till the end of class. You also don't need a textbook because her slides are very detailed and exam reviews are on blackboard. I had my class in the lecture hall in alter and all classes were recorded.
Great teacher! Great person! IF you are a business student, you have to take her class. There is work but it is very achievable. She is nice and great to talk to. A pretty easy class if u put in the work. 4 exams. no cumulative final.
I took her per recommendation of a friend. She is very fake during lecture. She doesn't even move from the podium for a guest speaker. Our first exam grade average was a D. HRM is supposed to be the intro class to business, and it's supposed to be fairly easy. But she makes the exams extremely difficult. If it wasn't for extra credit, i'd fail
i have mixed feelings about kate. on one hand.. she's sweet, funny and inspirational, gives extra credit so much but on the other hand.. the grading is so tough! i feel like she words the questions on the test so we can get them wrong. attendance is not mandatory however, i would suggest going because she gives points to those who attend most time
Super easy A. Our class only had two tests and they were both super easy. No final, but one large group projects. Weekly quizzes that are based on videos and articles that are kind of difficult but not worth much of your grade. No attendance taken.
I took Nelson for HRM and it was an easy A. Lectures are boring but they do 2 polls a class for attendance so just bear with it. The exams are all multiple choice and true/false and it isn't difficult. You will have to do one group project in this class and it's worth a decent amount of your grade. You're also given weekly online quizzes.
Professor Nelson is one of my favorite professors of all time. Her class is hard, despite what some may think about a lower-level business course, but it is worthwhile. I loved this class. I learned so much and Professor Nelson is incredibly helpful and kind. 10/10 would take this class or one of her classes again
Kate is an OG. One of the thurlest professors. 100% recommend. Easy A as long as you do the work and study. You learn alot too! She even granted me extra time on an assignment because of personal reasons. Take her for HRM!
Easy class, I could stay home from class every day of the semester and still learn as much as if I had actually gone to class. Tests can be a little confusing, so read the questions carefully. Assignments are lengthy, but there are only four and they are not hard. Group project is annoying, but you will survive. Take her for an easy A.
Her lectures are painful to sit through. She goes on a lot of rants about companies she dislikes and her past work experience and it is sometimes painful to sit in her lectures. Tests are not too bad and she has 4 assignments which are lengthy but should be easy As. take her if you need an easy HRM professor because youre almost guaranteed a B
Professor Nelson, is my favorite teacher I have ever had. She is super nice, intelligent, and knowledgeable about business. She cares about her students, and treats us like adults. She gives great lectures that business majors actually need to know, and knows not to teach non sense that won't help us. Take the class, do extra credit, she's awesome!
Professor Nelson is a real gem. She is very intelligent and has a lot of corporate experience. Majority of the lectures are interesting, but at times can get boring. Tests can be a bit tricky, but if you pay attention in class and do some studying you should get an A. She takes attendance through Poll Everywhere, so you need to be there for that.
Cares about her students & wants you to do well. Has a lot of experience within her field so she uses a lot of real life examples within her lectures, which keeps lectures interesting. Posts videos of the lectures and posts the slides from lecture as well but going to class will help you do better. Easy assignments & tests aren't bad just detailed.
Really nice and caring and is willing to help when you need it. Tests are pretty easy but I would def recommend studying if you want an A on them. Gives you a group project which is a pretty big grade and you need to do the online discussion board weekly as it is also graded. Offers extra credit. Generally an easy class and understanding professor
She talks SO MUCH and most of it is pointless, I stopped going to lectures. However she assigns a lot of projects and little assignments here and there which she grades but provides no feedback for. Her tests are easy if you pay attention in class and study outside, otherwise you're screwed because they are very specific questions.
Really nice person, but not a good teacher. Uninspiring and boring, painful lectures. Tests are easy if you study. Gives 4 assignments and easy last minute group work. Otherwise it should be an easy B+ or an A.
Lectures can be drawn out but she uses personal stories to relate the topics covered and can make studying a bit easier. Good-humored lady and very accessible outside of class, and please, STUDY. I thought I could get through without studying but found myself with a 62 on the first test. If you study, this class is a walk in the park. I recommend!
She is awesome!!!
yeah yeah yeah kate nelson was nice and everything but by the end of the lectures I couldn't wait to run out of there, I mean if i didn't already leave early. She wouldn't stop talking and the info had NOTHING to do w the class. The tests are kinda hard and you gotta study. Was OVER her lectures but listening to the taped ones were even worse.
Prof Nelson really cares about her students. The class isn't difficult and you just have to be a competent person and you'll get an A.
Professor Nelson is an easy HRM professor, but her grades on assignments can take a long time. She assigns weekly readings and videos to watch and they are excessively long at times.
I learned a lot in her class though the lectures were heavy sometimes. Her class activities were interesting, and so were her assignments. Study the Powerpoint slides and you should be good for the exams! She doesn't take attendance, but she does random polls sometimes for participation grades.
I just love her, so easy. Be nice to her she is so nice.
Dr. Nelson is such a gem. Fun lectures, fun assignments, fun class discussions. I have absolutely zero complaints about this course and I would recommend it to anyone. I took her for honors business org. so I can't speak for her class in a lecture hall setting, but with only around 20 people her class is a dream. Also an insanely easy A.
"I have no kids, so you all are like my own kids and come to me if you need any help even after you leave!" can it get better than this ??? Multiple choice tests, just understand whats she's teaching and you're good. easy class.
Notes heavily related to exam, but beware of trick questions. Weekly quizzes are kind of difficult but there is an insane amount of extra credit points. Easy A and a great teacher overall.
favorite professor so far. she is very helpful and gives great life stories. the exams ARE exactly from the power points she posts. She is the best professor because she doesn't have a text book & it's so much easier to have everything summarized on powerpoint also the TA holds a review session where they go over EXACTLY what you need for the exams
She is one of the best professors i have had at this university. If you have the option to take her you will gain a lot of knowledge and life lessons.
She's an industry leader in HR, and lectures us with very viable information. Issue is she does have some health problems which limits her accessibility but it is a very laid-back class. Her TA tries very hard to be an enforcer, but once you get to know them both they can set you forward and enlighten you. It's an Easy B Impossible A class.
Extremely lecture heavy and I didn't have a huge business knowledge so not very enjoyable, but I got the chance to know Prof. Nelson and she is an absolute gem. No textbook in honors but we did a huge group consulting project that ate up almost the entire class. No TA in honors so it always took months for her to grade all of our open-ended tests.
I think Prof. Nelson is singlehandedly the reason why business students have big heads. That being said, she is incredibly caring and the class is both easy and interesting. She tells cool stories, and truly believes that you'll succeed in business. Just beware of online assignments beyond the weekly quiz, because she won't mention them in class!
Kate is genuine, understanding and will work with you. Weekly online short quizzes, four exams, no final and offers plenty of extra credit. Her TA, Tyler, held reviews that perfectly outlined the exams. The group project was simple enough, but make sure you have good members. Put the work in, you'll get an A. Would 100% recommend.
There is a ton of extra credit so it is so easy. The tests are not hard at all especially if you're TA does a review session. Do the weekly online quizzes with some friends and you'll be sure to get a good grade. There is not that much work in the class... just keep up.
In terms of heading a classroom, Professor Nelson is very average- however, she is an amazing mentor. 0 warning about major homework & grades take ages, but tests are very easy. Take Honors if you can- you get to know her very easily and we got a consulting project with a company for some hands-on business-world skills + resume.
HR on the Ground was a great class, and Kate Nelson was a genuinely amazing professor. She helped us when we were working with another company and cared a lot about how we felt. Definitely a solid choice for any HRM class.
Mrs. Nelson is an amazing professor she is such an inspirational professor and gave good life tips that I will treasure forever. You have to try or you won't do well but the class isn't too difficult though. You learn a lot from her so its worth it. She is one of the best professors I ever had so take her class and you won't regret it! :)
Coming to class is part of your participation grade but a waste of time. You have weekly quizzes that include watching her videos and she goes over everything she talks about in class. The tests aren't hard but she gives you a review a few days before the test and it's a lot of random new info to memorize. She's nice but repeats the same stories.
Professor Nelson is a great professor who really cares about her students. She relates a lot of her slides to personal experiences she has had. There are weekly quizzes do on Sunday, 1 group project, 4 solo projects, and 4 tests. I would advise going to the review sessions for the tests.
Nelson really cares and the material is straight forward. Her lectures are long and repetitive considering you have to watch videos for each weekly quiz. The exams are fine, as are the assignments. But sometimes there are mistakes or very questionable exam answers. We were also supposed to have a great, resume-building project that didnt happen.
Great Professor for an introductory HRM course. Would recommend Professor Nelson if you want an easy grade and learn about many aspects of HR.
She was probably the most boring teacher I ever had. She just talked for an hour and 20 minutes straight about topics that no one could care less about. Also, attendance was mandatory and there were attendance quizzes at the end of every class. She rarely told you when you had an assignment due. The graders she had were very tough. Hated this class
She was a very nice lady but other than that there isnt much going for her. Her class is pretty much an hour and a half of her life stories. Theres a daily attendance quiz, a weekly content quiz with videos that can take an hour or more to watch and test questions are vague.I was also marked absent for checking the time on my phone a couple times
Had for HRM 1101. Nice lady but class is super boring. Mandatory attendance! Theres weekly quizzes on stuff learned in class on Canvas, 10 pts each. They are way too hard, imo. I got a 10 4/12 times and they take 1hr+ Answers are hidden so you cant even see what u got wrong. Emailed her twice thru-out the semester & never got a response, v annoying
The class material itself is very boring and easy, but Kate does her best to make it applicable and easy to learn. If you show up and pay attention there is no way not to get an A.
I loved her so much, she is really funny and personable so even though the class was kind of torture, she made it better by being so hilarious and kind. Lots of work and she isn't the one who grades, and the grader was really harsh. You cannot skip more than two classes. There's extra credit, but just pay attention and you'll pass.
Her class was super easy. There are quizzes every week on Canvas and they're easy. There's like 3-4 exams but most of them are common sense and her TA's do review sessions. She gives really thorough lectures and the material is helpful. Also, gives attendance quizzes to verify you were in class. Given in class & just ask if you were in class.
Kate Nelson is the most genuine professor I've ever had in Fox. She really cares about her students and makes it known that she is available as a resource to them. Kate's presentations are authentic and interactive. She handled the switch to online classes extremely well. I could not recommend this professor more. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
The best professor I've had in Fox! She makes lectures fun and informative. She also cares about her students and is always willing to help. Take her!
Professor Nelson is awesome, super knowledgeable and has so much experience. The group project is fun and if your group places in the top two you get extra credit. However, she grades the class on a bell curve, so you never know your real grade until after everyones grades are finalized. You could have an A- before the curve and then a B+ after.
If you need/want to take a Business Ethics class, I would suggest taking Professor Nelson. She's an extremely upbeat and caring professor and the course material was not too difficult. The workload might've been a little more than I expected but it was never anything impossible to do.
