This teacher is very knowledgable about this Biology world. Genetics is her specialty. She takes the time to explain everything. Tests are fair. Don't miss labs, they are an easy way to boost your grade. The project and paper are also great grade boosters, dont blow it off.
Pretty easy class. Definitely don't blow off labs, paper, or group presentation. Her exams are pretty easy; she gives you a review packet beforehand. The review sessions are optional but she gives you lots of hints as to subjects that will be covered on the exam. Her lectures can be boring but if you print out the notes she posts on blackboard a
Professor Warpeha is an erudite of a sensible, modern nature. She takes ownership of her students’ disadvantages and concerns as if to empathize on a great scale; coming form a student with a number of handicapping barriers she along with the aid of her lab associates help to facilitate a vigorous and productive locale to thrive in. Yet, do note r
She was helpful in her reviews. Labs are very important. try to get oliver for TA. this class was similar to a high school bio class. however, to pass the tests a couple hours of studying is required!!
she is very anal about school policies and procedures. labs are easy, but you have to go to them. the tests are kind of hard...You really have to study for them!
Kind of anal about some stuff, but not bad. Talks about family history a lot. Tests on power-points that she puts up on blackboard. If you study for the exams and show up to lab, you should do fine 'cause she drops one of the exams and one of the labs. Paper and presentation required.
hard but learned about the environment, physiology, and the best is genetics and family trees. Get to lab on time. It's a lot of work but worth 5 crediit hours. professor will meet with students.
terrible. she keeps talking and talking. she says the txt book is optional but keeps telling us to look at figures in there. very unclear. ppt slides are just pictures..NO WORDS. and she dosnt breathe inbetween sentences ahhHH!!!
She goes too fast. She doesnt stop in btwn lecture to ask if anyone had questions. HARD tests. Confusing lecture slides. Doesnt seem like she wants to put an effort to help students pass.
Very good speaker, lots of material but easy grading on exams. Must go to class. She had office hours and good reviews
This is definitely a class where you have to go. She will basically tell you what to focus on... so she'll basically tell you what's going to be on the tests. I printed out all notes prior to coming to class and took detailed notes. She is always there to help students and is great with students who have a disability. She wans people to do well
Extremely organized, bordering on obsessive and pedantic. Slides posted several days prior to lecture, which is nice. Method of lecturing needs dramatic improvement as she effectively reads off of a list of disconnected topics that appear on the exam. Spends little time connecting concepts, making it difficult to gain comprehensive understanding.
Her lectures slides contain mostly pictures and expects you to read from the book. She doesn't explain the material well, she expects us to learn those on our own. The exams are based mostly on the background information from the book.
She's slightly florid at times, but covers related material well. Be diligent about studying and be sure to read up on background material from the book, and you're sure to do well.
I am currently taking her. This class is about following directions. She tells you what will be in the exam! how much better can it get?!?! She is very organized, post slides the day before each lecture, always there for office hours, wants to make sure that ALL students are doing good in class. I would definitely take another class with her.
i have to agree with the below comment. I study very hard and got nowhere but a B. Why do teachers like her hate giving A's. She hates when the average is good. AVOID TAKING HER IF POSSIBLE.
Warpeha makes you go to class for credit. It's easy points and it's helpful for your grade but it's idk frustrating. The thing about her is she's trying to get everyone ready for med school-even if u're not going. So her tests are killer! She takes off for spelling errors and if the answer is not short enough. So even if u study hard u might not get A
Very nice and helpful professor who always means well. However, her speech pattern is horrible: Repeats the same concepts hundreds of time and thereby confuses students. Should work on her lecture outline and in class presentations. Her slides follow the same yo-yo approach. Her exams are fairly easy, meaning it's not hard to get a B.
Never miss lecture, take notes during lecture, study the lecture slides at home, read up on information you are not sure about in the book, and try to go to her exam reviews. Look over her lecture slides like 5 times a few days before exams and UNDERSTAND what they mean. Exams are not hard, very straight forward. Class average was mostly around 80%
Horrible. Exams are pretty hard for a 200 lvl class.
She's an AMAZING Professor! Very knowledgeable and extremely willing to spend a whole hour explaining something to you. You should definitely take the initiative and go to her office hours. She's a very charming lady!
I had her for Bios222 also. I think this class is harder but it is very useful if you want to be inPharmacy or medical stuff. Essays are similar to Cell but plant and animal physiology.
She is a great professor! All the lectures and tests are well organized. You will know exactly what to expect on the test, which is mostly multiple choice but essay questions as well. She will let you know what slides are important (which will most likely show up on the tests), and does not test on info from book that she did not talk about.
Very reasonable, clear, and fair. Exams are straightforward; just take good notes in class and pay attention! Office hours are very helpful so make use of them (and not at the last minute). Mostly 95% of her exams are straight from lecture notes. This course will teach you how to study effectively and will prepare you for grad. school!
She's an AMAZING professor. Very clear, incredibly helpful at office hours (which no one goes to, unfortunately) and very honest in her exams. There are no trick questions and everything is straight from the lecture slides (just like she promised). I wish I could have every bio class with her....
i had Prof warpeha for 2 200 level Bio Classes. 222 and 240. Not the EASIEST class but who said 200level bio would be?! Her tests directly reflect the class slides. Shes clear, and humble. iclickers were a big help. Shes fair and a Great Prof.
Her class is fairly tough, but she's actually not a bad teacher. She presents a lot of info, so it's hard to remember everything. If you attend class everyday and put in a reasonable amount of effort, you should be able to get a B since she curves the grades at the end. Her demeanor in class is rather strict, so she didn't come off as friendly.
shes a good speaker and knows her stuff. very knowledgable but way to strict when it comes to hw and exams. she expects you to know what shes specifically talking about and you cant write more than she asks or points off.
VERY HARD class. 4 overall test. she drops the lowest one. thers alot of memorizing.
Prof Warpeha is a drill sergeant and barely 5" which is comical. Lots of info to memorize but she spoonfeeds you exactly what's going to be on the exams. Great class for non majors. Dave the TA is totally laid back and very helpful.
She uses power-points, which are straightforward. The only thing is that there are a lot of materials you have to study/memorize. Other than that, she literally tells you what is going to be on the exam. She definitely understands that this is a Biology class for NON Majors, so she makes it very easy!
4 tests:drops the lowest one. LOTS OF MEMORIZING JUST TO PASS THE TESTS. 1 presentation, 1 paper, and Lab HW. She said its easy to get an A or B in her class. Well, its actually not. IN fact, a lot of the students have a hard time getting a C.
I took bio 104 lab. At first I didn't pay much attention and didn't study for the 1st exam-and got a 64. The next text I was told to ONLY study her powerpoints, and I got an 86. She tells you what is on the test, and the labs are extremely easy. I recommend this lab to anyone who wants to fulfill their lab requirement. Don't buy the book though
DONT BUY THE BOOK! Waste of money I wish I had never rented it! I didn't crack it open at all. All the tests are based off of her lectures which are on blackboard, but it helps to go to class because she tells you whats on the exams. Easy class, would recommend.
Don't buy the book. Only buy the lab manual. Exams are all from the PowerPoint. She does review before the exams which are helpful. Go to lectures because she tells you what's not going to be on the exams. And the lab sessions can help your grade. And there's also that research paper.
She is such a good teacher. Her explanations of lecture are crystal clear. She tells you what's on exams, what more could you ask for. Just study slides. Willing to answer questions. Tries to come off as strict, but very nice in person.
Amazing teacher. Alfonso on the other hand...
Warpeha is an amazing teacher who cares about the subject and the success of her students. Shes really nice and will help you do well in her class. Alfonso on the other hand... prob one of the worst professors you'll ever take
Such an amazing person and teacher (though she seems strict in class). She has become easier (unlike comments below), but maybe it's just that her teaching is that good. I highly recommend her. You won't regret it. You have to try to do bad in her class.
Her lectures are crystal clear with the explanations she provides. Reading the book helpful, but her exam questions come straight from the lectures.
Her class is easy if you attend the lecture because her exams are very straight forward unlike other bio professors like UIC. I didn't think I would ever say this but I think she is one of the fairest and clearer biology professors that I had at UIC.
She comes off as harsh to students who never talk to her, but she is SO helpful if you have any questions. Her lectures and exams were incredibly straightforward. Go to class, the exam is 95% material right from lecture.
Her lectures (things on powerpoint slides and things she says)=all of exam content. I wish she taught the whole course. She's really nice when approached.
oo-rah. welcome to the Marines. She is very strict, but I think the good habits paid off for Cell Bio grade. You have to go to class and take notes and I liked the boards. If you don't go to class she Knows.
Proff Warpeha is a phenomenal science professor and I wish she taught every one of my classes. Extremely thoughtful lectures meant to make the exams a breeze. She cares a lot about the success of her students and you''d have to be truly awful to not get at least a decent grade. 1010 highly recommend
She was all over the place, sending emails the day before exams with promised study guides or new assigned chapters to be tested on. She always seemed frazzled and disorganized, and either rushed through concepts, or ate up time with whiteboard quizzes that were in no way a benefit to the class. Terrible professor.
Awesome professor but very strict. get to class on time and don't leave early because she'll call you out. She teaches you only the information you need to know and skips all the fluff that isn't important or won't be on test. Like other 200+ level bios if you don't do well, then consider switching majors or get better study habits
Super easy class. Don't attend her lectures. They are a waste of time. Absolutely every question on her exam can easily be answered by reading the book chapters assigned on the syllabus. You have to be a brain dead oaf (which are unfortunately plentiful at UIC) to not get As on her exams and an A in the class.
Everything you need for tests happens in class. You have to go, and you can ask questions. The book helped for background but i shared. Tests not hard if you go to class, totally on the lectures.
Had her for Fall2014 and earlier for BIOS240. She can seem like she's in a rush most of the time and she relies on her TAs a lot in terms of managing students (grading, questions, etc) but she is also there to help. Lectures are straightforward and she uses a lot of information from books. Expects you to know your stuff and study.
a lot of reading, work. but crystal clear and good for mcat and anything science. you have to go to class.
Great Professor! Very helpful!
Her lectures are abysmal, and the one she provides online arent useful either. She expects you to read and attend lecture despite the lecture not being as useful as the book.
Amazing Professor! She truly cares for her students. Power points are very straightforward. Exams are a breeze if you attend her lectures. Very approachable outside of the class. Highly recommend
honestly if youre not passing cell bio with warpeha you're not very smart. Out of all the science professors that I had(I have my fair share of extremely hard professors) Warpeha is the easiest out of all of them. You still need to do the readings and put in effort but other than that her test is very straightforward.
I really want to respect her as a scientist, but she was not my favorite professor. She seemed very frantic, rushed, unprepared, scrambling to find material in the book to tell us. She jumped around in her slides and made it rather hard to follow her lectures. Read the book, know the diagrams--she's very diagram heavy on the tests.
Alot of material but I felt I learned it well. Explained things really well (crystal clear), and helpful on essays. Questions on test fair. Knowledgable and willing to help me understand.
She can seem all over the place during lectures at times but she really focuses on you understanding the diagrams. Her tests are extremely straightforward. Most quizzes are basically free points. If you go to lecture and study from the book you'll do great. She had a genuine interest in her students doing well.
Honestly, the worst professor. I cannot take this professor seriously. She is all over the place. She says "this is important for the exam", "this will be on the exam" way too many times and it NEVER is on the exam. I highly recommend NOT taking her.
She explained things really well, and good thing because the class is huge. Share the book, not worth buying but you do need to read. Kay made you know definitions, Dr Warpeha asked about figures and terms too. willing to help and go to office hours. Too many quizzes but you can drop 2. You really have to go to class. Excellent class.
Difficult class, a lot of material. Really good explanations and clear tests. Team taught class I don't like but I did think class good for MCat. Go to office hours.
Her exams are strange, but doable. Just show up to class or watch lecture capture and you'll be fine. She points out what will be on the exam and likes to use pictures. Her questions can be wordy. Quizzes are easy. Lectures are not very organized and stops to read her notes. She's not the best, but not totally off limits. Not my personal style.
need to have the book. excellent lectures, take notes, attend class. go to office hours.
hands down best class and lectures. tests from lectures. TAs and prof willing to help every week.
Dr. Warpeha is an excellent teacher for this class if you are newer to cell biology or haven't taken it for a while. She is very clear in what will be on the exams, and the tests only come from Lectures. If you take good notes and listen to the lectures, an A is easy. The textbook is a good supplement but not necessary. Some extra credit is given.
Great professor! I like her no nonsense attitude when it comes to kids talking in her class. It shows that she cares about your education. Just come to class and take good notes and you'll make an A. I unfortunately had a bad professor for the second half but thankfully her portion saved my grade.
Shes a really nice person, but her lectures were that useful. She seemed very all over the place in her lectures. She does let you know what is important to know for the tests. The tests aren't that hard. Overall pretty good.
Dr. Warpeha is a great professor. I enjoyed her lectures, especially on the ones on plant cell biology. If you attend lectures and watch her lecture captures, you will do awesome!
Warpeha is great - shes monotonous and her lectures are boring - she expects absolute silence during class (which I loved!) You must take good notes - she makes her tests solely based on the slides she presents in class - nothing else. Listen to her lecture captures and study the slides an you will do just fine! I highly recommend her!
It was a huge class, terrible UIC! but the professors made it quiet (no talking or phones) participation and drawing out things in class, and had alot of office hours right outside clas. Go to office hours. The tests got harder but this was the best class for the mcat and I just liked that it was QUIET. very knowledgable and got me into research.
I felt well prepared for exams. Did not feel like a big class, prof willing to meet with students. exams really organized and straight from lecture. good class, 2 professors.
Dr. Warpeha co-taught this class with Dr. Saxena. I honestly thought she was one of the best professors Ive had at UIC. No bs, doesnt put up with talking in her lectures. Super straightfoward with content, and exam questions are straight from lectures. She uses lecture capture, so only showed up on exam days, got an A. I would highly recommend her
She's straightforward, offers extra credit for attending lecture, gets straight to the point, only puts stuff on the exams if she talked about it in lecture, and makes everything easy to understand. She seems uptight when you first meet her, but it's only because she's trying to manage over 300 students at once. She's organized and gets stuff done.
Crystal clear lectures and clear slides. Wish she taught the entire class (class is team taught). Wish she taught All the bio classes. She knows how to explain things. Exams right off slides and lecture. went to office hours and this helped.
Dr. Warpeha is easily one of the greatest professors I have had in my life. She is very clear about what is on her exams and the whole class is based off her lectures. All lectures are posted online so you don't have to come to class, she offers 4 extra credit opportunities, and the A is set at 85%. If you put in the work, this class is an easy A.
Dr. Warpeha was so far the easiest teacher I've had for a 200 level bio class. Her questions were easy and straight forward to a point where I scored a 100 and a 95 on her exams. Linns portion of the class was alot more challenging but I would recommend going back to lecture capture and write everything he says and studying it and you'll be fine.
I'm only here to reminisce on how I took her for granted before taking microbio. Appreciate her. She's probably one of the few bio profs left at uic that isn't useless.
I wish I had Dr Warphea earlier at UIC. She is the only professor in Bio that actually can explain things so everyone understands. She also gives extra help and she let me volunteer in her lab, which was great. Bio needs to get more professors like her who know How to teach. Online book and materials were excellent.
Dr. Warpeha is an amazing professor. The material she teaches is interesting and she teaches it well by taking her time and explaining it thoroughly. She tells you exactly what you need to know and what will be on the test, so make sure to study that. If you put in the time and study hard, you will do good. She is also a good person and is caring.
I advise any student to not take this course with her. Although her exams are somewhat easy. She is extremely strict. You can forget any type of curve to your grade. Even if youre .3% off. She starts exams 5-7 minutes late and ends 2-4 min early. She always yells at students for sitting in the wrong seat and is overall a horrible human being.
TAKE HER! Her tests are soo easy! She holds review sessions and goes over the specific topics to review. She basically copy and pastes her lecture slides for questions on the test. Extra credit if you come to class, which is great.
Clear explanations. Grades are on scale but one exam is dropped. very straightforward and I appreciated no-talking-allowed in class and lecture capture is such a big help for reviewing. Extra credit based on attendance and boosted my grade into A. she had reviews for tests.
She is one of the best professors at UIC. She gives you an idea as to what she expects you to know for the test.
A lot material covered. she was excellent at explaining things compared ti the other professor. She is very clear.
Very rude towards students. Gives pop quizzes. Complains about her son instead of lecturing. Highly suggest a different prof for this class.
I wish I took this class before I was a senior. Dr warphea and Dr kay are the best at explaining anything in Bios. Notes are serious--they test from slides and lectures. They are thorough, and helpful and answer questions. go to class because of quizzes and go to office hours.
I like her section of the class more than Kay's. She tells you exactly what you need to know for the exam and will sometimes tell you what she'll likely ask on there. 450 total points, 400 are exams and 50 are pop quizzes. An A is 88% but doable. Her exams are easy if you take notes on/study everything she says in lecture
Hard tests but if you come to lecture and read slides it is not too bad. Pay attention in lectures and write down what she says.
Rude to students but great professor! Tells you exactly what's going to be on the exam & sometimes even tells you the Qs she'll ask. She explains everything clearly and saves you time by telling you what not to look thru. Dr. Kay is the complete opposite! he taught 2nd half & lowered my A to a C in the class bc of how tough his exams were
Dr. Warpeha is very caring and wants her students to succeed. She explains topics in biology in a simple way so that students can understand.
Dr. Warpeha is probably one of the best professors out there. She is very caring and wants her students to learn, and this is why she explains her lectures in a simple way and also tells you what's going to be on the exam. She isn't mean or rude to her students as people say, she is just strict in class because she wants her students to learn!
Shes so annoying when ever she wants to give out a test, she would say she wants to interruptions, but she keeps talking in testing time.
the natural chemicals class is the most interesting class I have ever had at UIC. It's like a mini-pharmacy class mostly on plant chemicals. great lectures and clear explanations.
Dr. Warpeha is truly amazing!
Most overrated professor, there are better BIOS 222 professor options than her. Exams are based off lecture slides but she goes more in depth than what she puts on there. Really really annoying and monotone. Interrupts and rambles on about announcements and is strict on term papers. Regret taking and would never take again.
Dr. Warpeha is definitely the best professor for BIOS222! I would highly recommend than any other professor for that class. She cares for her students, as long as you show her that!!
She cares about her students. She is very clear about what she will ask on the exam and wants all her students to succeed. Study for the exams and do the assignments. You will get an A.
This class was pass/fail and about plant metabolites. We only needed to show up and do a final presentation (8 slides). Guidelines for presentation were super clear. Prof was super nice and approachable (brought tea and coffee every week for us).
One hour and fifteen minute lectures at 8am aren't anyone's cup of tea, but Dr. W made them bearable. Lectures are content heavy. The material is not difficult as long as you take notes (print out the lecture slides and take notes directly on them). Your grade is based only on exams, participation, and short one-page essays. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK!
Cares a lot about her students, and is super helpful. Sent out a bunch of links that would help students during the COVID-19 crisis so shows how much she cares. Exams were straight from the powerpoints, but make sure to study!
She is a very caring an understanding professor.
The best professor from the biological sciences department!
This class is an absolute joke. There are only four assignments! The 2 exams are just responding to three questions from readings (each response is a page long). The 2 mini-term papers are just one-page responses to the assigned readings. For a 400 level BIOS course, this class is easier than any BIOS course you'll take. Dr. Warpeha is awesome!
Dr. Warpeha is the best professor out there. She is very caring and wants her students to do well. She has a good personality and teaching style.
Very passionate about cellular biology. Did not require textbook purchase. Her exams were completely original and gave out extra credit. Lecture slides/videos were also completely original while still being well detailed. Additional resources were provided to help learn the topics. She respected our class during my time taking her course.
worst teacher ever, doesn't understand that people don't have wifi and still tried to continue with an Exam. TAs are no help either as they don't respond to chat messages.
I have yet to have a professor that is as passionate and caring as Dr.W. She really wants her students to learn and her content is engaging. Also with covid, she has been very understanding and has made the class very stress-free.
She is a good professor just seems very inpatient at times, especially when students have question. Other than that if you study for exams, go to the mandatory class days, and do the miniterms you'll pass
Dr. Warpeha is an excellent professor and truly is passionate about the courses she teaches. She also provides numerous opportunities to earn points (ex. one-page mini assignments, drawing lectures etc.) Although she may come off a bit harsh at times, she truly cares for her students and wants them to exceed in her class.
She is a horrible person with no empathy towards students.
Dr W is great and an amazing lecturer. But here's what you're here to know: 4 Exams (no final), 4 1-page papers on a topic relating to the lecture (20 pts each), 4 in-class assignments (only days attendance is mandatory, 4 pts). 440 pts = A. You are allowed one sheet of notes on exams and she typically tells you what topics to cover. Great class!
Really good class! Attendance isn't mandatory, though there are labeled attendance days. The lectures are clear and the powerpoints are super helpful. She makes things easy to learn and has good resources to help memorize things. She's a bit strict but does a lot to help students get good grades (a lot of extra credit and easy point assignments).
Dr. Warpeha is great. Though lecture isn't mandatory, her lectures and PowerPoints are straightforward and really helpful for exams. She does have strict deadlines for the assignments but they aren't too challenging. Overall, she really cares for her students and wants them all to succeed. Go to her lectures and you'll succeed. Loved her class!
Dr. W's exams are very straightforward, and the participation points she gives on select class days are easy points!
Dr. W is not my cup of tea but that doesn't take away from the amount of pure knowledge she has. its just a shame to me that she relied a lot on youtube videos to teach, when I would have much rather heard her take. her feedback is iffy, I followed feedback she gave on a paper to a T and she said that I didn't follow her feedback and graded harshly
this class is terribly boring to sit through. I appreciate how knowledgable she is but her voice is so monotone the entire time it's hard to focus the whole class period. only 4 assignments the entire semester, with 4 exams and a handful of in-class drawings for points. The exams were hard for me but you were allowed a cheat sheet for exams
So confusing. Kind of a joke. I guess if you just want A on the transcript, it's good. If you want to learn biology, maybe take another class. Super, and I can not emphasize this enough: super disorganized. In summary, all over the place, but pretty easy A!
Easy class but not thanks to the professor. I literally would not listen to a single word of her lectures after the first week. She mumbles and talks during exams. There is not enough characters here to describe the frustration caused by this professor. The lack of empathy for students is no joke and I really wish she can work this out.
I wish I had taken this class before genetics class. The lectures are recorded. I had 305 too with DrW. There is no textbook which I appreciated since most textbooks I barely opened in bio classes. If you show up and do the non-test things, it lifts the grade but she is strict on deadlines. She explains things really well, really clear.
Allows a cheat sheet for exams--this is everything. Explains things in easy to get-it way. 8AM is too early but still good lectures and there was 20% participation easy work, 80% exams.
She tells you to be quiet during the exams, and then talks during them??? Like which is it girl... she lets you have a cheat sheet for your exams. Goes through a lot of content for things to not show up on the exam. Grading isn't too bad but be sure you do the different assignments she assigns, so you don't fail.
The cheat sheet. If you show up and make an effort it pays off. Strict on deadlines. I feel like the cheat sheet really made me remember things for exam. I didn't even look at it during the exam.
Warpeha is definitely a bit stern and can come off as rude, but its sort of just her personality. 4 exams, 4 (easy) papers, 4 in-class drawings. Content isn't hard whatsoever, but a lot of content is taught, but not on the exam. Cheat sheet is allowed which sort of makes this course a joke. Would definitely take this again for an easy A.
Warpeha is alright. She talks alot during exams which can be quite annoying but they're really not that difficult so it's not a big deal. She's pretty stern but not too intimidating or rude. Lectures are extremely boring but that's because the course content is just an absolute drag. Cheat sheet is allowed which is cool but not necessary imo.
Cancer section was best classes. The cheat sheet makes a big difference but if it is not detailed it would not help because exams are often involved questions. I espially liked: 20% of grade was more participation. DrW had drop in hours. She helped me make a better cheat sheet after first test.
Dr. W's class has a fair grading system - cheat sheets allowed for exams, easy participation points, and manageable assignments. Lectures are helpful, though attendance is mandatory. Using Unstuck AI alongside the course materials can make study prep a breeze.
She seems strict, but she is genuinely very understanding and is a sweetheart. She allows cheat sheets on the exams and literally tells you what's on the exam, it's just about actually paying attention and attending the class.
she does talk a lot so the lectures are pretty boring. but whatever she says is verbatim on the exam. she allows for cheat sheets on the exams and gives a few extra credit points every exam. GO TO THE DRAWINGS!! they genuinely are such a mindless way to boost your grade
Best Profesor for Cell Bio. Do not take anyone else
Lecture is not mandatory (but heavily recommended) outside of drawing days. she's very stern but nice, lectures are very content heavy and get boring towards the end so just thug it through. exams aren't that hard if you study she gives you a cheat sheet as well it's one sided paper but it's really not necessary if you just do the work and study.
took for Bio 305 and 222. Very strict on grading but if you put in effort it matters. lectures good and she let me do research too. Very clear explanations.
Awesome professor. You can tell she's super knowledgeable and passionate. Her assignments are clear and graded leniently. Lectures are recorded so you can go back and fill in notes. Allows a cheat sheet for the exams. Tells you pretty much what's going to be on it too. She can come off as strict, but she's actually really nice! Would take again.
her lectures are so hard to get through genuinely cannot stand the sound of her voice. I heard that other professors have easier exams but she gives you a cheat sheet though there's no time during the exam to even look at it because you only have 40 minutes. she also talks so much during the exam. rather swallow bleach than to take this class again
Summer class is accelerated. It was over 8 weeks and like being in Marines but tests were open notes. She had a lot of meeting hours. There was a TA so help available because it is a lot for 8 weeks but glad I took it.
As a person she is very slow. Likes to talk too much about her family. Has the hearing of dolphin. Not understanding at all. She doesn't really teach. She says that certain topics wouldn't be on the exam, but end up being very heavy on the exam. Exams are 80% of your grade. I did well in the class, but not because of her.
as a professor she was okay, lectures aren't too hard to understand (records them) exams can be troubling but she lyk what may be on it. on the other hand, every lecture was an interruption like every 10 mins which was very annoying even during exams. her organization for exams are not the best, not enough time(40mins) & always talking thru it
Her slides are clear and easy, but exams are tough even with a cheat sheet because time is tight. She talks a lot and constantly reminds everyone to stay quiet; she doesn't want to hear you move, which gets annoying. Grading is fair, with four easy assignments and drawing activities listed in the syllabus. No attendance.
only good thing about this class was that attendance was not mandatory. there were 4 drawings that gave you points, 4 exams, and 4 written assignments. the drawings and assignments were easy points, but the exams were hard and a cheat sheet did not even help. class is curved though
Attendance required to keep up even though recorded. it is a lot of material. I started out with a D and she and TA met me in drop in hours to help me with my cheat sheet=Test scores went up. There is 100 points of assignments and drawing in class really upped grade. Class is on a scale. She said she would curve if exam had low mean (they didn't).
She was an amazing professor! The exams themselves were not very difficult, but the cheat sheets still helped a lot. She came off as very strict at the beginning of the semester, but she is actually very sweet and does want her students to do well. Lectures are recorded. She gave basically free points with 4 in-person drawings + HW assignments.
