Teacher is very hard. Dosen't explain anything. gives no help with the homework or with the labs. The workload is normal, but she dosen't check completion of any of the pre/post labs. Would not recommend her to anyone. If you get her as a teacher drop the class and go with someone else

More than half of the class is failing and the other half has dropped this course. Failure is due to absolutely no explaination of any material! Experiments, pre and post labs not viewed by instructor at anytime. Because of this you are completely unaware if you understand the cirriculum.

She literally wrote the book (lab manual.) It doesn't have a glossary, is hard to follow, it has mistakes and there aren't answers to the study questions. She belittles students constantly. She does not go over her expectations for homework, tests or quizzes. Instead, she tries to trick students

I see there's a split on opinions here. More often than not, students on campus have neg. comments about her. In my own honest experience, she was not at all helpful. She made us feel like we should already know the subject though it is our 1st exposure to Biology. I have observed disparaging and belittling remarks from her to students. Sorry....

I would not recommend. She is belittling and for the most part she runs class (as a whole) like your a punk that's just out of highschool. Sorry, but it actually has been awhile since I've learned the basic concepts. Just trying to get back into the academic atmosphere and could use a little support.

Checklist for future students: Want a professor that will make you feel stupid for asking a question? CHECK. Want a professor who will give extremely difficult exams and quizzes? CHECK. Want to study, and study, and study and fail the class just like most of your fellow classmates? CHECK. We're community college students!! Why is she here? MEH!

There is a big difference between holding high standards for your students, and not teaching the right material then getting angy when the students don't understand it. She constantly did this! She would talk about a million things and when it came down to the test, I saw material I had never seen or heard of before. DON'T TAKE HER CLASS!

Kat was very rude to me and to others in the class. I am a pretty good student and I barely passed her class. She even accused me of cheating!! She is ridiculous and her lectures are obscure and rarely have anything to do with the tests! She wrote the lab manual herself, and it had lots of mistakes. She made an easy course very HARD!

Worst teacher. Rarely lectures - tests and homework were difficult. You could study for hours and still fail. Approx. 24 started only 4 left in class. I have never felt so lost or frustrated in a class. Terrible teacher.

I have to laugh when I read the comments where people say they learned a lot in her class and she is just strict. She is rude. She belittles people in class loudly. She treats her students as if they are children and she is full of herself. If you want to be confused, humiliated and belittled she is the teacher for you.

When I began her class, I was excited. She belittled me the first day and second day. I dropped the class. I could not learn, she was rude and called you out in front of the whole class. She made it hard to learn and ask questions. She was not direct on exactly what she wanted and was willing to yell at you for no reason. Do not waist your time.

Kat is HORRIBLE! She's mean and she needs to retire all ready. She looks down on everyone and is EXTREMELY dissrespectful. DO NOT take her class. She has made several of my ex-classmates even cry. Passing this class is like finding a needle in a haystack.

I didn't mind that the material is difficult, it is her disrespectful attitude. For those who say it is okay for a professor to humiliate students it is not, it is called harrassment, and it is a shame CNM refuses to do anything about her. Everyone at CNM tells me I need to talk to someone else, and I end up going in circles.

I gave her the benefit of the doubt in her class of A&P lec. I had heard on going bad ratings from fellow peers. Sure enough she is tough for me. I found her teaching style to be very complicated for me. I was confused from day one! I really wish Kat would find another passion in life or better yet, just retire from teaching this coarse.

kat flies is the worst teacher I have ever had. My scholarship is at UNM and I decided to take A&P over at CNM to save myself some sanity. Although this was a summer session, I felt she failed to teach me everything I needed to be prepared to the point of my questionning the career path I have chosen. I'm retaking this class this fall and have the right teacher and am continuing my path to become a nurse ! She had ALOT of people drop this summer and I feel she wasted my time.

Took her in an online course. She provided her in-class lecture more online resources that our online class. If there is a choice, take someone else.

Tough teacher. Maybe her online class is more difficult, but she is not clear on what she wants us to learn. "Tricky" and unclear questions, she is hard to follow, not helpful, does not respond to you if you need help. Already a tough class and she makes it even more tough on purpose to see people fail. 48 students to start, 9 left.

Would not recommend Dr. Kat. If you can avoid taking this class online, DO IT. Unfair in grading. When an entire class is borderline failing, several semesters in a row, CNM should really evaluate what's going on with the teacher, not students. I understand weeding out students who don't study, but those who do, that reflects back on the teacher.

I read reviews and didn't believe.DO NOT TAKE A&P with Kat. I have never had a teacher this terrible in my life!! She over complicates everything and makes it harder than it actually is. I re-wrote my notes, listened to lectures, made note cards, and did her worksheets and still did horrible. Her test and quizzes are worded horrible to confuse you.

Was more concerned of her name being used properly. When I asked any questions all she would say is read your syllabus. I did not have my syllabus with me when I did attend the classes. When I had a few computer problems she didn't seem to care.

Horrible instructor. She gives you "study guides" with hundreds of questions for a 30 question test. I am 4.0 student, until I took her. She teaches small details and you will not understand the big picture if you do not take a lab.

Horrible instructor! It seems that she does not go ever her questions before she gives the exams, most of them are deceiving full of errors that they do not make any sense. She has neither knowledge nor experience in health care life scenarios, at times her comments or statements related to health care scenarios were totally erroneous.

She's an awesome teacher that challenges you to learn. Quiz & exams are easy if you studying. Her power points could be better.

Horrible Structure. Nearly all of her quizzes and assignments are deceiving in nature when it comes to the answer. She does not give any real instruction or very clear at all about what she is looking for or what we need to know or study specifically. The way she puts the information for you to study is completely disorganized.

She is by far the worst instructor I have ever had. Her lectures are disorganized, she's incredibly rude and what you do in class only scratches the surface of what's on the test. I understand A&P is hard but she should do more work on letting people know what and how deep to study. I strongly recommend NOT taking her.

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible!!! Do not take her! The tests and quizzes are insane and there is not enough time given to complete them online. The topics covered in lecture are twisted, thrown around and spit out into a test question that has nothing to do with what was discussed in class or on the videos. Beyond awful!!! Take at your own risk!

By far the worst anatomy teacher I have ever had and I am a licensed nurse. I wouldn't want my healthcare professional taught by someone like her. DO NOT TAKE HER.

Class started with 40 students. Ended with 7, this is not a good teacher, theres just so much to cover, dont know where to start. If you have a 4.0 gpa and feel like you need a challenge, then this is your teacher...

It almost seems like she takes pleasure in stumping her students. She will twist her test questions around so much that while you might of studied and memorized it, you wont know and she will make sure of that. Coming in with a 4.0 gpa, I left her class with a C. This was a refresher course, I been a nurse practitioner for 5 years now.

In all the time I have gone to CNM I've never had such a difficult teacher. She is rude to students and she isn't mindful of the time in class. She will lecture for a while and then if she doesn't get through the whole topic she'll tell you to teach yourself, most of the time it is complicated topics. Get ready for homework 70+ hours worth.

I took her a few semesters ago and nothing that she taught helped me in the nursing program. I struggled to reteach myself the necessary topics specific to nursing that she did not cover. She claims to style her questions after NCLEX, I can personally say that the NCLEX is nothing like her questions. Her testing method is absurd & deceiving.

Lets start off by saying I took A&P at NMSU 19 Years ago, and LOVED THE CLASS! I learned so much. But it was 19 years ago. SO I decided to retake it for a refresher. THE WORST TEACHER I have ever had! Over loads you with information and sources that it becomes almost impossible to retain! NEVER WILL I TAKE HER AGAIN!

Human anatomy is hard, but she makes it way harder than it should be. You might as well teach yourself, because she is very disorganized and also hand draws everything (such as cells) which makes it hard to decipher. Her exams are extremely hard, and she twists questions to try and confuse you. When asking question she'll make you feel dumb.

Literally tells students to teach themselves the material(very hard topics), purposely twists exam questions to be confusing, seems to enjoy watching students struggle. I am retaking A&P this semester, is still a very difficult subject, but 2 weeks in & prof. Chris Mcglone is already a much better teacher.

I was so very disappointed in my academic experience with Dr. Flies. I knew she was tough going into this class, but sadly all the negative reviews on here are 100% correct. I used to be a teacher, and I know the importance of respecting your students as well as encouraging them. Sadly, she isn't one of those kinds of teachers.

Less is better. You go to way too many places for materials. Your so focused on trying not to miss anything you miss the material. She is more into using different methods than her students learning. She does NOT listen to what students need to succeed in her class. She encourages you to drop out. Who does that? Teach! don't boost your ego!!

She is very knowledgeable but gives you a hard time if you ask questions. The amount of information is much more than class time. If she doesn't have time to finish a section she will assign her video lectures. Study guides are 4-6 pages long and tests are only out of 40-50 questions.

Does not want you to pass. Tests are the majority of your grade. Amount of info to memorize is astronomical. I'm an A/B student w/ a great work ethic, but she makes me hate the subject matter. DON'T TAKE HER! Gives 3 attempts @ online assign. but only counts the last one, not the best. Crazy rules when taking online exam. do yourself a favor.

Dr. Flies is THE hardest professor I've ever had. I average mostly A's and a few B's here and there, but I'm barely making it in her class. She allows 3 attempts on her online assignments, but only takes the LAST recorded score. The exam Q's are worded terribly and she watches your proctored exam videos like a hawk. Take A&P2 with somebody else!

Aweful!!! She gives out so much info and expects you to learn it all! Half of what you read wont be on the exams! 73. % of your grade is based on all 5 exams! If you ask questions she will tell you, well didnt you read the syllabus? She also says, that if you dont have 30 hrs a week or more to work on this class you shouldnt be in it.

Don't do it. I am a student who does have a lot of time to study everything the professor gives. The tests were just beyond her trying her to be tricky and confuse students. Could never see answers after quizzes taken.... Couldnt see the final unless you went in.. So many more issues with this professor. Would not take again!

So much material and usually difficult on exams of what you studied for. Very strict, blunt, & explains this class will need an extreme amount of hours in order to pass if you can't do it you shouldn't be taking it. Worst A&P teacher I've taken. Had to withdraw an wait another term to take a different, well rated teacher.

Do not take this class if you want to pass. Dr. Flies made this overly hard. She made us memorize every little detail which is impossible if you have other classes and a life. I did not need to be this difficult. She would get angry if students answered in class wrong and was condescending. She did not have a positive attitude at all.

Horrible professor. Yes, anatomy is a difficult course in general but she makes it impossible. Her modules are all over the place and her work load is insane. If you cannot give this class 30+ hours a week then I do not suggest taking it. If you do not watch every single lecture and read every single slide you will not pass.

I had such a terrible time with this instructor. Almost failed her class, I am an A/B student. She is so unclear, doesn't seem to care if you pass o r not.

Flies was awful. Her lectures were overwhelming and her exams were very hard. The only grades in the class that mattered were quizzes and exams. Her quizzes were hard and she allowed multiple attempts, however, she kept the LAST score, not the best. The quizzes had different questions each attempt so it felt like you were gambling with your grade.

This class was very challenging. The lectures are very boring and the exams are long 50 questions and very descriptive on the questions. When the first test was graded half the class dropped the course. I was doing good but I worked for my B grade in the course. Strongly suggest if you plan on taking her class, look at taking at least 4-6hrs a day.

The tests are horrible! There will be multiple answers correct but only one is the most correct. We have to cover HOURS of videos for piece of the subject! She does not give any care for the success of her students.

In addition to textbook reading, you are expected to watch lengthy and tedious videos that are VERY time consuming. Wording is confusing on exams. You must understand the content in several different aspects. I regret taking her a second time but was hopeful thinking I understood her style. Things were just way too complicated & didn't need to be.

Tests were worded too difficult to understand. More than one answer would often times be right, but you had to pick the one she was looking for. The final was worded ridiculously and made it difficult to pass. Just ask the question and quit trying to confuse your students! It is difficult because you do not have many choices of professors for AP

Get ready for 20 repetitive emails a day saying her class is the only thing that should be important in your life. Tons of things to remember, she discourages and sets you up for failure. She forgets to mention a part will need to be studied for exam 1 but oops it's on you to know which one. She states, if you fail the 1st exam you will fail all.

I was doing well at the start of the class until the first exam. I feel like everything I had read/watched/wrote down/learned was NOT on the exam. Thats how the other exams had been too. She has a YouTube playlist which I believe has too many extra videos that repeat and dont offer extra info. She knows her stuff but doesnt know how to teach it.

if your taking online, i would stay away. She states you need the textbook, nope you don't need it you need her slides and lectures which are out of order and disorganized. be prepared to spend up wards of 72 hours a week on her course.

I am a UNM student who decieded to take anatomy 2 at cnm since I thought it would be easier. WRONG! I have a 3.83 coming into this class and I got a C because her exams were so hard! I have over 100 pages of notes from her learning objectives but could never manage above a C. Horrible! She is a great lecturer but as for exams! they were the hardest

I took a online classes because of COVID-19 and we never have a Zoom class or any live interactions or discussion classes. On quizzes she pick the last attempt of score and never release the correct answer. she never come forward to help the students. She don't care about score either you're doing good or not. 1/3 class are drop. Not recommended.

Run. This was the worst professor I have ever had and I have never met anyone who feels differently. Her curriculum layout doesn't make sense, she's one of those teachers that just says "Everything in the book is testable". And then speed runs her lectures. You cant record lectures, take pictures or honestly, ask questions.

Dr. Flies does not go over all testable material in her lectures, which are very lengthy. She doesn't have a grasp on grammar and her mistakes will leave you with questions. She does not appear to review what is on her tests or quizzes, so will not be teaching in a way that highlights what you should study + actually emphasizes items with few ?s

One of the hardest teachers I have taken at CNM. Our class of 11 students (10 dropped over the course of the semester) studied as a group for two weeks for the final lab practical, and we averaged a 69%. She did not prepare us at all for the final exam. She can also be extremely rude at times. Think twice before taking her for A&P!

Do NOT take this instructor. She relies heavily on her lecture videos and has told me do not read/rely on the textbook. I literally write down everything she says in her lectures and come quiz time the answers to the quizzes are nowhere to be found! You need to do your own research to understand what she is talking about because she is very confusing and does not do a good job at explaining what she is talking about. Dr. Flies made A&P lab excessively hard. There was so much material she expected us to know every week for next week's quiz that it was very hard to study it all with a full load of other classes. She'll mark you off points for misspelling. All grades come from quizzes (50%), midterm (25%), & final (25%) so you better prioritize tests early on.

Gives way too many videos and worksheets; would say 1/3 of her lecture videos are her rambling and reviewing past material. I would ask her discrete questions and screenshots and request a simple y/n answer. She would proceed to send me more “hints” and refer me to slides when I already spent hours trying to find a solution. Very inconsiderate.

I am taking her for Spring semester. She only grades quizzes, midterm, final. Her grading is hard. Quizzes are legitimately 20 lines and you have to write whatever the answer is in those lines and you cannot misspell at all. She is by far the worst professor I have ever taken. Everything you are read is true. I am not a bad student by any means, but she sets you up to fail. Literal hundreds of hours of lecture videos all of which refer you to revisit her A&P 1 videos, on exams NOTHING from the unit quizzes or her lectures. "Hints" and "To-Do's" minimally reflect information on exam. Her class will make you want to quit.

Will consistently order students to watch the lecture videos, but the videos are very unhelpful. Purposefully gives you fake hints for exams so you will fail. Do not bother taking the class. You will just have to drop.

The material she gives does not align with whats on her exams, and they are almost impossible to pass. She is unapproachable. Her expectations are set high. she enforces rules like if you dont rename a file exactly the way she wants, she will give you a 0% regardless of the work. Her extreme grading policy makes her class unnecessarily frustrating.

The class I took was very dense and the expectation is that you explicitly understand information from the lecture videos as there really is no supporting homework or activities that actually contribute to understanding and being able to critically think through her exam questions. I found the professor rude and unsupportive during meetings.
