I took her 101 class last year and I just had to take her again! She uses real life experiences and she's extremely interesting to listen to! It's a lecture class but by no means boring! Her tests aren't super hard, especially in 101 and her reviews are the best! Take her, you won't regret it!

DeBolt is a great teacher. She is fun and has lots of life experiences to share which helps you relate to what she is teaching. The assignments are easy but make sure you take good notes and study for the tests. I recommend just to check the book out from the library when needed, if you take good notes you will barely use the book, save your $100

Katella is possibly the best teacher I've had at The Falls. She's very helpful and goes over things until everyone understands. Even though it is a lecture class, Katella keeps everyday interesting. I never read the book and I passed with a 3.8 so take really good notes.

Ketella was the best instructor I've ever had. She made me want to work as hard as I could on every single assignment and was EXTREMELY helpful. The workload wasn't insane either, so I really had time to get deep into everything and actually learn something. Take her class, she's great!

Katella is awesome! It's like she's her own one-woman psychological show. You will learn so much about psychology and everything that goes into it. You don't use the book very much and your tests are from your notes, so take lots of them! I would take all of her classes if I could!

I love this teacher, she is a tonne of fun and explains everything perfectly. Maybe a bit to easy but then again it was just a general psych class. Anyone taking the course should watch a couple episodes of the Gilmore girls before going to her class, though, I swear she talks exactly like Lorelai Gilmore the mother from that show.

A very stimulating class. You must be alert and ready to learn in this class. Katella is a very animated and exciting lecturer...No pillow needed in this class. I found her to be honest and very fair. I would take more classes from her. I was able to learn and understand the material, she is an excellent instructor.

She makes the concepts fun, though I am a bit concerned that she muddles her own opinions/interpretations into her teachings and felt that I had to take her lectures with a grain of salt by the end of the quarter. Seems to have trouble being challenged. Her over the top personality and sometimes child-like behavior is not enjoyable to a serious student. It's a 100 level class so I understand people like her because its an easy class and shes "fun". Fun just isn't challenging or interesting to me. Textbook wasn't necessary. I took the hybrid class that only met twice a week. This made the class very difficult to learn anything, as it is directed for a lot of self teaching. When I did have classes Katella was very good at explaining concepts and ideas, but simply did not have enough time to teach them. She does list what will be on the test. Make FLASH CARDS and STUDY!

Katella rocks! Hands down one of the best teachers I have ever had. She really cares about the students and wants them to succeed. To those who are the "serious students" lighten up and if your "so serious" then it shouldnt be a problem for you to ace the class

DeBolt is a great Psychology professor. She knows her stuff and can teach it. The class is strict on assignments, notes, reading, etc. But it's all worth it. She makes everything interesting and manages the time very well. It's the type of class that's actually interesting to take. Take her class if you want a good experience at SFCC!

Took her hybrid class, lectures are fun but if you know biology, anthropology, evolutionary theory, etc. you may question some of the "facts" she inserts from time to time. Tests seem aimed to be "hard" (may try to trick you) although content is not difficult. Extra credit? Not much and nitpicks on essays. 95.89% overall = 3.8 for me.

I have taken three classes with Katella && she is an outstanding proffessor! She is so helpful and crystal clear on what is to be expected. I never have any doubt going into exams and i always know exectly what is expected of me. She is the best professor i have encountered by far! I would recomend Katella over anyone!

I'm in my seventh and last quarter at the falls, and I can say that Katella is the smartest, most wonderful professor I've had. Her lectures are amazing, fun and mind-boggling. She's also super chill and really easy to talk to. Exams are tough but she prepares you well for them. If you need Psych for a requirement, take it with her!

Ok, don't get me wrong. Katella is VERY sweet, very nice, a good teacher. But her tests are IMPOSSIBLY HARD. I didn't miss one day of class, took good notes, etc. But I got a C on every single test. She gives a test review day, where she lets you know what every single question will be on, which is nice. Strangely it really doesn't help. STUDY!!!

Exams are spaced well apart, and a lot of material is covered. This is a heavy writing class(**very specific**) and consists of 2 papers, and 6 essays. Essays are oddly given a week prior to exam, however cannot be written at home; which I found to be redundant. Wonderful personality, and brilliant lecturer. Very engaging, and helpful.

This is one of those teachers that make you want to know more about this class. Her teaching style is awesome. I took Mrs. Debolt's class in the summer for pysch 200. She is so sweet and considerate of others when learning. I don't understand how other people in the comments said that they felt she made them feel dumb if they asked a question? Always helpful, attend class because her lectures are very helpful. Katella showed genuine care that we were understanding the material that she was teaching. She related it to our everyday lives and didn't lose us by using only technical terminology. She expects EVERYONE to be responsible and prepared for college classes, some of the fresh-out-of-High-School students had to make adjustments to their work habits.

You will learn a lot of cool stuff but you must take the class seriously. Papers are due in order to take the midterm and final, they are graded very harshly. Remember to fully explain every term you use! She is quirky and passionate, and gives clear lectures. I did 4.0 work and received a 3.5 and I would take her again. Good, cheap textbook.

Katella's lectures are amazing, she's very funny. However, you should probably be open-minded to take this class, otherwise the course material will be harder to digest. If you enjoy talking about gender and sexuality this is for you! Very LGBT friendly. Her class is graded on few things, but high in points. Tests are all multiple choice.

She is currently the best professor I had in SFCC. As an international student from China, I found her class really interesting and easy to understand. She basically tell you what is on the test sometime even the answer. You do have to write essays before taking the test . This is legit my favorite class.

I took her class my very first semester at SFCC, way back in 2009. There are things she said in that class that I remember and often draw back on in my daily life. It was truly invalueable and I would take any of her classes any day, shes an amazing teacher and an awesome person.

Funny, but can come off as condescending or rude. There's a handful of in-class grades, but beyond that your grade comes from exams & participation only. She's very flexible & understanding when life throws you a curveball. I had last minute surgery & a friend died during my quarter & she was caring, compassionate, more than happy to work with me.

Loved her! Very caring, and does her best to help you. Read your text, and get a friend to take this class with you so they can help when you are sick or to study together! Her notes are provided but there is a lot of in-class context, so take advantage of recording the lectures (fill out the form!) so you can pause and rewind at home

The entire grade is 4 test and 3 assignments. you do get some extra credit and points for showing up to class. The test were a lot harder and more in depth then the lectures were. She was overall very nice and was really helpful if you couldn't understand a topic.

This class is very test heavy, being graded on 4 exams and 4 or so assignments, but if you show up and take notes you'll end with 85% or more. I disagree that she is rude, but she can be a tad condescending at times.

Wouldn't call her a tough grader, but she has firm standards. But I found PSYC180 easy. No curving but she does pretty generous extra credit. She grades attendance, but she's understanding if you can't make it a day or two. Her lectures are fun, but she says they're on the exam, and I don't think I was ever tested on them. Great teacher overall!
