Her classes are fun and her teaching style keeps students interested.
tests are easy
Very interesting class, she is funny and interesting. Very easy A!

Very funny lady but phil wasn't my thing but she made it fun. tests are hard.
Great teacher!! Go to all lectures and tests are easy. Repetitve and easy.
I'm in my 4th year of College & just learned I do not know how to read questions
great teacher, one of the best i've had, funny easy exams
Exams require infinite amounts of knowledge. Although does infinity exist?

You CAN'T possibly know all that she wants on her exams. This class is bunk.
This class was very easy. Prof knew what she was talking about. Very nice.
Read the book and attend lecture and tests will be a breeze. Funny prof.
Great!4MC exam Topics include ethics, abortion, cap pun, and sex! alrighty then!
Funny, smart. Attend lecture and take notes and you'll be fine.
easy and interesting, very energetic
Extermely nice;tries to make it interesting;tests fairly easy if you go to class
nice, funny, knows her stuff
one of the coolest & easiest profs i've had in all 4 years here
Among the best three professors I have ever had.
Very smart.....funny.....interesting class

Extremely Nice, Hard Tests and A bit confusing
tough concepts but she explains well; willing to help; crazy-fun in lecture
This lady is a nut....the class is not too hard, but she's horrible

She is a great teacher. Good discussions and not full of herself.
dont need books, just lecture and her notes online. funny and nice
Great lectures. You just need to go to class and look at her online notes.
cool lady with hard essay test but online notes make all the difference.
Great prof. Little nutty, but teaches an interesting subject and an EASY class
No Comments
wonderful lady! tests are moderately hard, but she's great and very helpful
a lovely person, very cool and funny. take this class. very enjoyable. easy A.
Nice lady Could be clearer. Tests get progressively harder-go to class!
A for the Day! Nice person, tests right from the notes
She is so nice and funny. Tries very hard to make sure you understand. Tests pretty easy, GO TO CLASS! Study online notes & class notes. The carrot qua carrot....
easy class, real nice teacher, a little weird but go to class and study notes and you'll be fine, no need to buy the book
"A" for the day. Takes intrinsically difficult concepts and explains them so you can effectively understand the concepts. If you like to party with guys named Augustine and Anselm this class is for you.
I didn't like her. She always came late to class and then held us late. Picked favorites and told all these inside jokes with them.
She is such a nice lady. She utilizes her voice to help you understand the topics. Very straight poward lady and she gives review sessions the night before the test that are really helpful. She loves to add "ness" at the end of words like carott
Class is so boring, its hard to sit through. she is really into teaching the stuff, but it's not too clear, and overall not interesting. don't take unless you need to
oh so easy, just show up take notes (or get hers from online) and take MC tests--easy easy A!

Easy B... this lady gets into the material
easy tests, dont buy the book, all tests directly from notes very clear and helpful makes philosophy remarkably easy to understand
liked in 101, but after B+ avg before final and then gettin a 50 on it(what wrote in final same as notes took in class) by end of sem she spent too much time talkin bout irrelevant phil stuff with kids up front and not teachin class material clearly
I was one of the kids up front with the "irrelevant" questions. The questions were quite relevant. They helped to give a better understanding of the particular theories. Maybe if you asked questions, you would've received a better understanding/
Tough course material made this class make me want to stab my eyes out with a pen.
one of the worst classes i have taken at UD, it was very boring, and she favored people sitting in the front, by the end of the semester no one went to class, don't bother buying the book
I just adore her. She teaches the material clearly to help everyone understand, and makes guys like Augustine and Anselm interesting. Also, she is such a soccer mom-type that you almost expect her to bring in homemade cookies or something.
This class was so boring I thought that I was going to try to dig a hole to sanity every single class. When I went in for office hours she "wasn't available" to help me.. 3 times
great online class. the easiest A i have ever gotten in a phil class. I would recommend taking the class to anyone.
This was a great class. Rather easy and She made everything clear. She knows what she's talking about and gets really into it. She welcomes debates in class. Tests are essay.
She's great, and if you want to learn the material you will.
such a boring class. i hated it. but the tests were incredibly easy, they'd take like 15 minutes to do, were exactly the notes (which are available online).
Wow, just wow, she can't say three words without giggling like a 6 year old. Very unhelpful and just a goof. Most unbearable class at UD to sit through. Spare yourself your sanity and don't take it...
She seemed a little hyper in a rather obnoxious way. I don't think her tests were that easy (they weren't hard either), but then again it might just be me, philosophy's not my thing. If you like philosophy and Descartes and Socrates, then take the class.
i love her! shes so cute :) i thought i'd be bored with this class but it ended up being really interesting. if you're actually into phil, take this class. it's not that easy, but if you study well and write everything you know on the tests you'll do fine.
great online class. fun woman, kept me amused. clear. super easy tests.
I loved her. She's so good at teaching, helps you understand exactly how philosophy works and how people think. Such an interesting class. She always responded to my emails right away and was very helpful. I'm now a philosophy major because of her. Her tests are pretty easy to as long as you study for them well. You must take her class.
Easy introductory overview of the history of western philosophy. Enthusiastic Professor!
Took as a Summer College Program course. Great professor that is really excited about everything she teaches, and she teaches well. She goes over things repeatedly until you get it. Fully explain yourself on exams and you'll do fine. Reading was not necessary for an A in my class, but may be for her other classes.
She doesn't know what the HELL she's doing. Her tests are extremely hard (consisting of 5 essay questions), she takes off 10+ points per question for mistakes that aren't even mistakes...(for example, using one word instead of a synonym for it). Even studying HER notes she posts online for 6+ hours isn't enough to get above a C. She SUCKS! YUCK!
Her form of grading is atrocious. One sentence that she deems unfit could cost you an entire grade on the test, despite the pages you wrote that had precise and correct content.
Worst class I've ever taken. When I went in for help during office hours, she told me she was too busy. The only interesting thing about this pointless class was how much liquid she was able to consume in 50 minutes and not have to leave to use the restroom... DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!!
Great class. Interesting material, very enthusiastic professor. She explains everything very well and tests are easy. The only thing that sucks are the daily quizes on readings, even though they aren't hard at all. Just take notes in class and you'll definitely get an A.
great professor. fun lady, amusing class. tests are from the notes, nothing unexpected. loved this class!
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES! SHE TAKES OF OVER 10 POINTS FOR THINGS THAT ARENT MISTAKES! IF YOU WRITE "MIND" ON A TEST INSTEAD OF "INTELLECT", SHLL TAKE OF 12+ POINTS, EVEN THOUGH ITS THE SAME THING! SHES A HUGE **** AND GRADES BASED ON WHETHER OR NOT SHE LIKES YOU! SHE HAS TEACHERS PETS THAT SHE GIVES 100%S EVEN IF THEY DIDNT EARN IT! SHES A ****!
Take this class online for an easy A. The tests are extremely easy multiple choice, and the online lectures are not terribly hard to sit through compared to some other online classes. Don't bother buying the book. Just take notes while you watch the lectures and go over them before exams and you'll do great.
This class is fairly interesting. Just go to class, take detailed notes, and study them. You don't really need to buy the book, and it's hard to read. She's pretty accessible via email, and is pretty nice.
a soccor mom to the t. very quick witted. but little hard to follow in class at times. she gives you an "a for the day" if you answer her question correctly. me liked dat. made me fell warm inside. hehe
take this class if you want an easy A. tests were all multiple choice and really straight to the point. lectures were interesting and you can tell that she is really passionate about philosophy.
Awesome teacher! Very passionate, I like that. Extremely easy class with easy mutiple choice tests. Great professor and a great philosophy class!!!
Very good class. You could easily get through by not reading the book and just by taking good notes. Very good and simple examples in her lectures. There are four relatively easy exams and your final grade is the average with no curve whatsoever. What you get is what you get. She cuts you no slack when it comes to grades.
Took the class online. The lectures are alright a bit boring. Grades on 4 tests and does not give a curve at all. I was one question off from geting the next letter grade and emailed her and she wouldnt give it to me. Not the easiest class a bit difficult to understand the perspectives of some of the philosophers. Look at the online notes shegive
I really did not like this class, she was enthusastic about the topic however. But her exams I found too difficult for such a low level class. A good amount of my classmates switched to pass/fail for her. She got an attitude through email when I asked her a grading question.
I would definately not recommend the distance version of this class. 4 multiple choice tests sounds easy, but they were terribly unclear. I have all a's and 4 b's and this was my first c. The materials, i.e. the book and notes are easy to read, but the tests are terrible. You can not understand what she is asking. Steer clear, find another A group.
I enjoyed the lectures when I went to them. Some were boring, but her voice fluctuations made it more interesting. Always had a can of iced tea, and if you really pay attention to her, you can see that it dribbles onto her clothes because she talks while drinking and swallowing. She also pantomimes everything. That was annoying
Lectures are very clear-she's very good about explaining things and will always repeat when you ask her. Her tests are easy multiple-choice and your final grade is the average. You can easily get by not reading the book as long as you go to class and take good notes from her lectures. Use her online notes because they make life a lot easier.
Interesting class if you like philosophy. Gives a historical overview of all major philosophers. Keeps you the whole time for most classes. Four tests; 30 MC questions each. No extra credit, no curve, doesn't round up. Go to every class and copy down everything that she says and then memorize. Go to review sessions. Don't need book. I got an A.
Sort of eccentric sense of humor, but in a good way. Very willing to offer help outside of class. Includes class in lectures and discussions. Provides examples that assist understanding.
Very nice lady. Class can be tough if you're used to challenging things, though. Be warned that it's all Christian philosophers, so the collective thought runs in that direction. I had trouble understanding and believing much of what we were taught because I'm not a Christian (or follow any other Western religion), but class was still interesting!
LOVE her!! This was my second class with her (101). If you go to class, pay close attention and take good notes (she goes over things a ton of times tho), studying for the exams will go really quick! All her exams are NON-cum. She's so funny and always so happy and into what she's talking about, gives clear & simple ex's! Def recommend to anyone!
Nice woman, I took the online course. Not that hard, she explains things so well that it is easy to understand and do well on tests. Go to class to get this understanding but if you can take it online.
awesome lady. she really knows and loves the stuff she is teaching. the tests can be kind of tricky but if u study u can get an A
Dr. Rogers rocks.
Rogers is a great great great teacher. Makes all the examples clear in class and is very easy to understand. Class is 4 30 question multiple choice tests, all of which are relatively easy and she holds review sessions before each test. Textbook reading is not at all required.
Nice person but at times difficult to follow her train of thought. Don't read the textbook just go to class and take good notes - tests are pretty easy.
TAKE THIS CLASS!! Rogers is hilarious in a geeky sort of way and and an awesome teacher. She presents the material in an interesting way. I never had to read the book, she takes all of the work out of the class. I loved her, I will definetly take a class with her again.
Really great class. I found it really interesting and it was the best part of my day. Some stuff can get confusing but just go to her office hrs. Do NOT buy the book, I never opened it. Either go to class and write down EVERYTHING or read and take notes. Doing both is pointless. 4 MC tests that are not hard. Study and you can easily get an A.
Great professor and lecturer. Was amazed how much I learned in an online course and actually how interesting the topics were. Everything was well organized . I definitely recommend her.
Interesting class, if you go to lectures and study your notes you will have no trouble getting an A. She's enetertaining and very interactive with students and never afraid to gove an A for the day. No need to read or even buy the textbook
REALLY easy class, I'd def recommend as a group requirement. Tests are mc and not cumulative; just study class notes, she makes the material easy to understand, and you don't need the book! I thought it would be boring, but the lectures are very interesting and she makes it fun.
might be the easiest class i have ever taken. highly recommend that you take this online. 4 multiple choice tests 30 questions each. very easy A, do not pass this class up.
Pretty easy class if you go to class and listen to the lectures and take notes...Dr. Rogers is nice and she makes the class interesting...tests aren't too bad and she posts all her notes online..I definitely recommend this class
Take this class online & don't bother buying the book. Very clear, lots of examples & notes are posted online. Easy class, sweet teacher. Def take this class
Wonderful! She's hilarious! The way she pants with excitement when answering questions is amusing. Her explanations are clear (which is impressive, considering how dense and bewildering the material can be). Don't leave without taking a class with her.
Excellent professor, fair exams, and interesting material. I loved it.
katherin rogers is awesome! shes so funny in a really dorky way, and she loves philosophy. keeps lectures interesting with silly jokes, and allows participation which is great for such a large class. 4 multiple choice tests that are ridiculously easy, youll barely need to study if you attend lecture and pay attention. take for an easy A.
she is a great teacher! I would def recommend her. you do not need the text book, just go to class and get the notes
One of the best classes. She's an excellent teacher who's passionate about the subject and breaks down ideas for students to learn. I would take any phil class she teaches.
SHe is really good and she knows her stuff. Dont buy the book. Exams are fair 30 q's multiple choice. Deff take this class for an easy grade. (online if possible)
Definitely don't wait until the last minute to start studying. I read through the comments; everyone seems to think she's easy, but she's not entirely easy. It's the subject matter itself that is difficult, so obviously it's not easy. Concepts can be confusing, especially when there are so many philosophers to remember, but she makes it clear.
She definitely wasn't easy. Her lectures can be confusing because she explains everything in more words than needed. It sucked that tests were only 30 MC questions, which made it harder to get an A. The material itself is confusing to understand. I didn't think that it was an easy A.
She's very interested in what she's teaching, and while it can get confusing, that's because of the material. She understands and expects people to ask her to go over things. Read the books because there's a mini quiz everyday based on the reading, but it's an easy one question mc, to see if you've read it. Tests are fair essay tests. No surprises.
I took my senior seminar with Prof. Rogers. It was incredible. I was sad when it was over. She is always interested in helping out when you are confused. Different pov from some other phil profs which was challenging and a very good thing.
Don't buy the book, and take this class online if possible. You can get an easy B+ if you just read the notes and the study guide and don't even listen to the lectures. Take it for an easy group requirement.
Do not waste your money buying the textbook. She tells you that all you are responsible for on the exams are notes from her lectures and goes over the textbook material anyways. I did not opened the textbook all semester and I ended up with an A.
Such a terrible teacher, I do not recommend her. Tests are really confusing.
Incredibly broad lectures, with extremely specfic exams. No powerpoints, just her talking and ranting. I do not recommend unless you can grasp very abstract concepts
Exceptionally nice person and makes the class interesting with her zany personality. Would totally recommend her. The test are somewhat difficult but not bad if you give some effort to studying.
DO NOT TAKE PHIL101 as an easy class. lecture of a couple hundred, average grade was a 77%. She drones on and the tests are tricky.
Really nice person and a good professor but I do not recommend this class. Multiple choice exams in a philosophy class are very confusing and I don't think it's fair in such a gray subject. Not much work but not an easy class by any means.
I was interested in Philosophy yet after I took most, not all of her classes I wound up with a degree in the subject. She not only taught a class, she taught life. So I wound up living a great one, no small thanks to Prof. Rogers!!!I always reference what I learned from her!!! One would be wise to participate in her classes!!
Really boring.
Very interesting class, she's a nice lady and teaches well. Exams can be tricky and the material can be very ambiguous so be sure to study a lot and make sure you understand EVERYTHING.
4 exams primarily from the lectures, but I recommend reading her class notes or chapter to back things up. Her exams can be tough if you hadn't studied so attend her lectures. Overall, an interesting course with a decent Professor.
Eccentric and amusing. Constantly enjoyable. Metaphors a little hard to understand if you don't have general understanding. Always very accessible for extra help. Mandatory but easy daily reading quizzes. Makes notes easily available for tests. Upper level courses all essay tests and short papers. Teaches philosophy through historical approach.
Taking this class online. Lectures are interesting and she presents the material with a lot of enthusiasm. Book is basically the same thing she talks about in lecture so it can help if you don't understand something. If you pay attention to all the lectures and take reasonably good notes, not a hard class at all.
This class with Rogers was terrible. Do yourself a favor and DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS! Save yourself the time and take something more interesting with a professor that is actually energetic or at least moves away from the table once or twice and tries to keep the students engaged.
This was the most interesting class I've ever taken. I definitely recommend Rogers. She makes the class very easy to understand and is very helpful if you have questions. There are only 4 exams which are 30 multiple choice questions, which leaves little room for error but if you study you should be fine.
Class is pointless. Classes were empty but then packed during test dates. Class makes subject more confusing. Just read the textbook once before the test and you will be aces
Took her course online. I enjoyed listening to her course online. Was interesting to me. As someone who was not a philosophy major, I had to put time in it, but it was worth it. Exams are easy if you understand it. I did well on the first three exams, but was tired to study for final. Ended up with a B-, but worth it. Don't bother with textbook.
Probably the most interesting class I've taken at UD so far. As long as you do the readings, attend lecture, and study you'll get an A. The readings and lecture were actually interesting, so studying is not that tedious. Rogers is really enthusiastic and knows what she's talking about. Always willing to help. Highly recommend this class.
loved this class. as someone who wasn't a phil major i had to put in the time, but enjoyed listening to the lectures. book is helpful for clarification. exams are easy but only 30 points, so its easy to drop a letter grade.
Very nice professor but the subject is extremely complex and hard and she can be very boring. Tough class to sit through. Hard to get an A because the only grades are 4 exams all semester with 30 questions on each. The questions themselves are very hard and you need to really understand the info. Take with caution. Must love philsophy.
Prof. Rogers does a good job at making ancient philosophy as engaging as possible. Because the concepts that are important in philosophy are somewhat abstract, the material can become confusing at times. She is flexible with office hours, so go ask for help if you need it. Attendance is not mandatory, but clicker questions can give you extra credit
I had Rogers for both PHIL 101 AND PHIL 311 and she is one of my favorite professors at UD. PHIL 101 consists of 4 exams, each with 30 multiple choice questions. PHIL311 is NOTHING like 101. There are 2 research papers, and 3 exams which consist of 5 essay questions. If you ponder the existence of God, time, and the meaning of life TAKE PHIL311!
4 exams all year, and she gives a ridiculous amount of extra credit if you come to class and get the clicker questions right (up to 6 points added to your final grade) She 's a really nice lady, definitely willing to help, but you probably won't need it because the material isn't all that difficult. I highly recommend the class and her
i would recommend using a laptop to take notes- she goes quickly through her powerpoints. but she does put the powerpoints online the next day, so you can always fill in anything that you miss. exams aren't bad if you put in a few days worth of studying. clicker questions can get you up to 6 points of extra credit- SO DO THE READINGS
Took this class online. Quirky at times, but you can tell she really is passionate about philosophy. Read assigned pages before class, pay attention to lectures, and take solid notes. Compare your notes with her online notes and you're set for the exam. Final grade is composed of your 4 exam grades. Exam Q's mostly come straight from online notes
Took the class online over Winter. Watch the lectures and write down everything she says, slides are just short summaries. Memorize the notes before the exams and its an easy A
She makes a class that could be boring pretty interested. She makes all the material straight forward and her tests arent bad
Sweet lady, my friend found her rude, but I found her very willing to help. Take advantage of the notes she mentions are online. The clicker quizzes can really help your grade, so do well on them! I would recommend this class for a breadth requirement, it is pretty straight forward.
Funny little lady who has her own rules in class which I feel are fair. She is trying to make those boring thing vivid and interesting. Handout is necessary to print out for better understanding. 4 regular tests and all reading quiz as 1 independent test, so your grade is determined by 5 equally weighted tests. EasyA if you memorize all the handout
Great professor. Interesting class. Would recommend. Take good notes in class and know what you wrote. Should be fine for tests. Also there are quizzes on assigned readings at the beginning of each class. Sum of points from quizzes must be at least 30 for a 100% on that portion. I didn't do the readings and still easily got the 30.
If you take this online it's just 4 HARD exams. Even with the textbook. Took lots of notes on from her video lectures and used her class notes and still did bad on the exams. Avoid this class!
I took this online, and I wish I didn't. It's all conceptual questions on the exam. I studied so much and even read the book and when i asked her for help she told me to read the book again.... deff don't take this for a breadth requirement!
Quirky personality. Makes boring material interesting. Memorize lecture slides and you will pass. Clicker quiz on reading at the beginning of class and quiz at the end on the lecture. Very easy exams. Got As on both exams so far. Clicker quizzes add up to count for an exam grade and if you get all but 5 right you get equivalent of a 100 on an exam
She is so funny and quirky I really like her. The class concepts are kind of hard but you can tell she really really loves what she teaches. 4 exams but if you meet with her, and go to review sessions she explains whatever you learned in class, a lot easier. Philosophy can be hard to understand but she explains it well
Clicker questions, 4 tests. Teacher is fine, class is harder than you expect for a 100 level class, but not terrible.
Quirky professor who loves what she teaches. Class involves lectures with daily quizzes and four tests. Quizzes are on assigned reading material from the book. Would definitely recommend for an easy breadth requirement course.
Worst class I have taken in college thus far, and I'm a senior. DO NOT TAKE THIS ONLINE. Lectures are insanely boring, exams are based on her opinions (she literally references herself as a philosopher), and the questions on the exams are so specific that no matter how hard you memorize everything, you're wrong. Don't take if PHIL isn't your passio
I took this class online as well. I agree that the exams are pretty difficult and tricky if philosophy isn't your passion. However, if you do the online lectures and readings its a relatively easy A/A-. Would much rather take this class than attending lectures all semester long and receive the same grade to fill credit.
Her tests are very hard because they aren't on hard solid facts. Most seems like her personal opinion but she is very nice and really does care about student's success. Offers review sessions before each exam. Must go to class in order to take clicker quizzes. Get 5 wrong and it still counts for a 100 on an exam. Need clicker grades to pass.
I took this online and it was awful. If you're taking this for an elective I would recommend not. Lecture heavy, very boring, and grade is based on only four exams. I didn't get any grades back during winter session and had no idea how I was doing the entire time. Take a different class
Everyone below is correct that Rogers is "quirky." She is passionate about philosophy and cares about the class. Her tests are hard but its somewhat doable.
Rogers is a nice person but not a great professor. Her exams seem to be based off of her opinions (other classes contradict a lot of the things she teaches) and she does not give extra credit. She does clicker quizzes which are supposed to be a grade booster but most kids I know have not had this experience.
Dr. Rogers makes an intro level Philosophy course way more difficult than it needs to be. She offers no real extra credit or help, and she herself even sounds confused by material a lot of the time. Definitely would not recommend taking this class with her
Rogers is a solid professor. However, your grade is based off of 4, 30 question exams, which leaves little to no wiggle room for any mess ups. Clicker questions every class that count for a 5th exam. There's course capture and her lecture notes are all online -- they're helpful to study from since they're in her own words.
Lectures are confusing and she doesnt know how to explain them at office hours. Tests are super hard, you can study a week before the exam and go to review and still do poorly. She does not care about how you do in the class, and often times this class is based off her own views and opinions.
EASY A! you don't need the textbook bc she goes over everything you need to know for each of the four 30 question MC tests. the text is just supposed to clarify the info, but I found it more confusing. Go to class to get the clicker points. (you only need 30 right and she gives 1 question in the beginning and 1 at the end of each class) LOW STRESS
disregard any comment on here that praises Katherin Rogers. She is absolutely ridiculous and the most unhelpful professor I've ever had. she treats a 100 level course way harder than it should be. She's quirky and annoying and if I could drop this class and fire her I would. Also very unorganized and lectures dont make sense. SAVE YOUR MONEY!
I loved Professor Rogers class. I enjoyed every lecture and it was a wonderful change from my usual classes in my engineering major. She is wonderful.
Professor Rogers is really one of the smartest professors ive ever had. Shes insanely disorganized but shes so nice and entertaining to listen to. But dear god dont be an idiot like me and take the 300 level class as a freshman. Its still insanely challenging regardless of the fact that shes awesome.
Her lectures are engaging, but you have to stay on your toes! She has a lot to say and only occasionally writes notes on the board. She's a great professor and asks a lot of her students. You can do well but expect to put in the effort. Go to every class, do all the readings, ask questions, and STUDY for the exams- memorize everything!
Rogers isn't an easy A professor, but she isn't a stressful prof either. The clicker quizzes are every day and make up 1/5th of your grade, and they're usually easy. She does them every day, twice a class, and you only need 30, so you don't have to go every day. Exam Qs straight from lect, but she posts them online. She's an easy B prof.
God, I love this woman. The class is genuinely interesting. The material is engaging. The tests are fair. She is available outside of class, and is actually a brilliant philosopher with a whole array of fascinating views. Highly recommend. Professor Rogers is one of a kind. Also she says "A for the day" a lot and it really grows on you. Take her!
If you take an intro PHIL class... take the one with Dr. Jordan instead. This class was horrible and the exams are not worded clearly and are biased toward this professors opinions. This was one of the worst classes I have ever taken, and there are much better options for intro PHIL classes at UD.
Does little to nothing to make lectures engaging in anyway. Goes on several tangents unrelated to the course. I took this class because I thought philosophy would be interesting, and maybe it is, but with Rogers I would have no idea. The tests are opinionated to her own views on philosophers, and terribly worded. Thanks for ruining a subject for me
Super annoying. Lectures are unorganized and slides make no sense. Her tests are biased towards her opinion and she expects everyone to have her views. Only reason I pass the tests are because of the TA reviews. She requires textbook for insane amount of readings every night. Way too much work for a 100 course/elective. 5 grades & no extra credit
DON'T take Rogers if you have no prior phil knowledge. I took this thinking it would be an interesting/easy 100 level course and I was so wrong. Save your GPA! You only have 5 grades for the whole semester. Her slides have no titles/format they don't make any sense. I have studied for hours and still can't get over a 75 on an exam. So frustrating
while a nice woman, this is the worst class I have ever taken. For a 101 class, it's extremely difficult and is graded only on tests and quizzes based on readings. I could study so hard and the grades always ended up being bad, it's a confusing topic and the lectures don't help. There are 80 slides per powerpoint filled with long paragraphs to copy
Rogers is a very nice teacher who clearly enjoys her subject. Unfortunately, that subject is Philosophy, which isn't a class I believe should be taught in a lecture-hall style. But it is. Pretty boring class, but if you take notes and follow the (very vague) study guides the tests aren't super difficult. I liked the teacher but the class is dull
4 Tests, Pay attention to slides and what specific philosophers think, as she will tell you in class and in textbook. Textbook for clicker questions which make up 20% of your grade. Other 80% split between 4 tests including final. Nice lady, not too hard
I took this as I thought it would be easy but it turned out to be one of the hardest classes ive taken at the university and ive taken organic chemistry so thats saying a lot.
This class was really interesting and Rogers is good at explaining the material and making the class interesting. As long as you take good notes and study, it should be an easy A. The Only thing is her powerpoints are super unorganized so you really have to listen during class and take notes according to what she says.
Tests are the only things graded besides clicker scores which don't affect the grade enough. Anytime someone answers a question she says "A for the the day" and after the first few times you hear it your gonna want to never hear her voice again. Tests were hard and questions were worded poorly. Don't take this class as a breadth, not worth it.
Hard class, dry lectures, did not curve exams
I am about to finish this course in fall 2020, so I took it all online and asynchronous due to COVID. Out of all the classes I'm taking this semester, this is by far my least favorite and most difficult. The entire grade is based off of 4 exams, THATS IT. Unless you really enjoy philosophy or learning about specific philosophers, don't take this.
Worst class imaginable, I am in my second to last semester and I have A's in everything else and I'm currently failing this class. There are 4 exams, no new formatted material, just shoved together garbage from past semesters. The sad thing is that she's getting paid a professors salary to use proctoru and upload old stuff. I am disappointed UD.
This is a sample email from this professor "I continue to get requests for doing extra credit. I do not intend to change the evaluation procedures that I spelled out for everyone at the beginning of the semester, here in the last quarter. I realize this is being a tough time for everyone..." Then ended with assessing the final grades, thedisrepect
I had her during the pandemic and she didn't even teach us. She posted recorded lectures from 2016 and more recently edited slides so they didn't even match up. We did not have a single meeting face to face. The only grades were 4 Tests. I did like the material that was taught just not the way it was taught. Take the class in person not online!!
Mrs. Rogers' class has a really poor implementation for online class (COVID-19), and because of this, I would never recommend anytime take this class until changes are made. All her class is, is watching her lectures that she recorded in 2016, 2 times a week. Each video is an hour and fifteen minutes, with poor audio that makes learning difficult
She literally makes the class horrible. I was so excited to take this course and it felt like she didn't care at all. She is not there to help at all, refuses to give extra credit even though she knows her students are failing. In addition, she only gives 4 assignments, setting you up for failure.
So sweet and cares about her students. Wacky but in a good way. Go to reviews for exams she will answer any question you have. A lot of papers are assigned but she gives you many topics to choose from, and you could easily write them just with what was talked about in lecture. One of my favorite philosophy professors.
I like how shes very personable and overall a sweet lady
Barely anything to get graded on so its hard to keep ur grade up which sucks and this lady doesnt do extra credit
I have learned nothing in this class, lectures are boring and she is a little quirky, goes on convoluted tangents and it is extremely hard to follow, HOWEVER, if you pay attention on the review day before the test then the tests (which are majority of the grade) are pretty easy. I didn't pay attention at all except for review days and have an A.
Easy class but extremely tough grader! A really sweet and kind person but old fashion and that hurts at times. Tests are 80% of your grade so forgetting the smallest thing can deduct a solid 2% of your grade. Don't take this class lightly and you should be fine.
Very passionate and engaging lecturer who does a great job of making some complex and weird ideas easy to understand. There are four tests and the clicker questions as your entire grade. Fairly easy class where paying attention is rewarded.
Professor Rogers is a nice and caring professor. She shows a genuine interest and understanding of what she's teaching. She assigns a lot of reading and a lot is covered each class, so you should try to attend them. Your grade is primarily determined by 4 tests, so make sure to take them seriously. That being said, they are not all that difficult.
If youre looking for an easy A please dont take this class. This class CAN be an easy A but youll have to do some studying. Professor Rogers is in no way a bad professor I personally just don't like the way she operates class. Theres 4 tests and about 2 1 point quizzes per class so skip class and miss quizzes your grade can slip fast.
Don't take her. She is a horrible grader and her lectures make no sense because she goes off on tangents and talks to herself. For exams, she sends out 25 or so possible questions on the test beforehand, and then on the day of the test she will pick 6 for you to respond to so you are required to know how to respond correctly for 25 questions.
Her lecture go very fast and it is very confusing information that she is talking about. Readings from the textbook everyday. Every class there are mini quizzes during class, which is the only other assignment for your grade besides exams. Exams carry all of your grade, and there is never extra credit given. In my opinion, STAY AWAY!
If you are not interested in Philosophy, DO NOT take this class. The lectures are long and very hard to focus. The only grades are 4 tests and the quizzes she gives every class. If you are looking for an easy class, this is not for you. Her office hours are no help at all. I would not recommend this class.
Cares about teaching, however all of your grade is exam based and she is a very hard grader. Impossible to get a 100 she's mean as well.
Lectures were beyond boring, do not take this class with her
Professor Rogers class isn't bad if you can make it to class and take notes on the lecture material. You can an easy 20% of your final grade if you answer enough in-class quiz questions correctly (2 every class). Material isn't always the most interesting but it's a class worth taking.
Professor Rogers is passionate but the class can be tough. 4 tests and few assignments make it easy to slip up. unstuck AI was a lifesaver for practice and review.
Professor Rogers is the worst professor at UD. She stays on each slide, which is packed with content, for 3 minutes, not giving you any time to take notes. 4 exams but no homework, and 20% of your grade is participation, meaning it is very hard to receive a good grade in this class. She is also rude to students and unreachable outside of class.
