Calc 2 is hard as it is. This teacher is willing to help you if you are having a hard time. Her teaching method is a little hard to get but as soon as you do you are golden. The test/quizzes come from the homework or the worksheets she gives out. Overall great teacher.
She cares about all of her students and is willing to help them all, but as a math instructor she sucks. She does not seem to know the material the way a professor should and relied too heavily on her student aid. Too much unnecessary busy work and does not return homework in time for quizzes. I will never take a class from her again.
She is not capable of covering her entire syllabus in class, so instead you are responsible for teaching yourself the majority of the content. Is very helpful in person and will take her time to explain things to you, but lectures are almost useless.
What is the point of having a class where you learn everything from an online program, yet have to show up to class to not be taught? The teacher does not teaching whatsoever.
was a hybrid class, and she didn't teach us a thing. She is a horrible teacher, and when you ask for help, she gets mad and says that we should already know how to do this. horrible teacher
USELESS teacher. She teaches nothing and makes you figure everything out online. I literally spoke to her once in the whole semester and she gave one lesson the whole semester. Online classes are awful and having it with her makes it even worse.
Great professor! I learned soooo much. Usually she's nice, but sometimes she can be snippy with students when asking questions. She gives a lot of HW, but do ALL OF IT bc quizzes often come from the HW problems. She gives group quizzes sometimes. Tests are reasonable. She does a lot of examples on the board every day, very quickly, so keep up.
Prof Czeranko is an absolute pleasure. I am an idiot when it comes to math but I showed up to class every day and went to her office hours and she was more than willing to help. There is a lot of homework but she goes through it in class and gives extra credit opportunities. All she seems to ask is that you are prepared with the right questions.
I have tried to take calc 3 times before this, and always dropped because I was totally lost after the second week. this class was an easy A, not because the material was easy, but because she's a great, great teacher.
She's real nice and knows what she's doing. I asked to skip class to go snowboarding and she let me retake a test i missed that day. She moves fast and if you get behind id suggest catching up. Quizzes are cake most of witch are partner quizzes; sit next to (not a bum).
She is just amazing. She will go through the topics in class and she is available during her office hours. An easy A if you do your homework, attend class and ask questions if you don't understand the concept. I'd take her again if I had the chance to.
I am horrible at math and really struggle. Although to me her material seems hard because its something I struggle with she really worked with me. She is a great teacher and easy to talk to. We had group quizzes which was different but helps. My partner carried me in the class. I highly recommend this teacher. Lots of homework is only down side.
Great teacher, she goes extremely fast so if you go to class I strongly advise to not daydream, blow off, or play on your phone in class. Take short notes, nothing long. just watch her do the problems and the other info is in the book. She will help after of before class and just do the homework. Dont put it off. If you do the HW you will pass!
No problems here. Respects her students, patient, keeps the classroom in check. Not too tough, not too easy.
Great at explaining material and very clear on what you need to do as a student to pass her class. Doesn't curve or give much extra credit. Calc 3 is a difficult class so its stressful no matter what but she does a good job of making it tolerable. Do the homework, there are lots of HW quizzes.
Be sure to do the HW she tends to pick the more challenging problems off the HW for the quiz's. As long as you can stay organized and give yourself time to study passing this class should not be a problem. There's group work but I would of rather spent the time covering examples, since we fell behind and were unable to cover all the sections.
Her class is straight-forward. Do your homework, study the concepts, and you will get an A. Final grade is dependent on tests distributed throughout the course, so if you have a bad day, it won't sink you. It can be hard to keep track of deviations from the schedule sometimes. Czeranko is a good lecturer and a very respectable person.
Czeranko is good professor, I had her in Spring 2014 for MAT 265. Her lecture and homework assignment was clear. She assigns group quiz per 2 people which is easier, but exam was not in group. She is easier.
She is awesome, smart and a great professor!
Excellent teacher. She is very helpful and wants students to succeed.
Great Teacher, very laid back. She does give homework every week. New homework and work sheet every week as long as you get the homework and worksheet done. Her quizzes and exams are open note card, but quizzes are group per 2 people. Taking her again next semester for a different class.
An outstandingly dedicated professional who gave me insight into my future profession, my study habits and myself. I consider myself lucky to have received her mentor ship. Highly recommended.
Great prof, funny and knowledgeable. she is very organized and clear in what she wants from students. expects students to work little hard and be prepared for the class duties. Overall, I would recommend her class.
She is an amazing and knowledgeable professor who is dedicated and passionate about the class topics. She is very passionate on what she teaches and going to her lecture is actually very entertaining and informative. It is definitely attainable to get a good grade if you put in the work. I would take again!
Great teacher; had her for Calculus for Engineers I. Fun class, and learned a lot!
Trust me just pick another professor. None of the stuff she explains in class or homework shows up on the exams. She would pick some hardcore questions on the test that don't even test your true abilities or understanding of the material. I didn't learn anything from the in-class group assignments. I was hoping she would be a little more friendly
Awesome, Very helpful!
Great Professor. She makes the class very interesting and engaging and you can tell she enjoys what she does. She's nice, and very laid back. Easy class, if you do the work. I definitely recommend her and would take another class from her.
Really liked the class. Czeranko is a good professor and she made the material funny and interesting. If you have to take a math class, take it with her.
Extremely knowledgeable, but sometimes has a hard time dumbing things down when asked questions. Give in class to work on group quiz. Nice and approachable.
Great class! Great teacher! If you study you will do well!
Katherine is a great instructor. She is very helpful, has a great sense of humor and her class gets really interesting, it helps that her tests are easy! Great job.
Katherine is the best! She is probably one of my favorite math teachers of all times. She is always willing to go above and beyond to help you out. If you have any problems understanding anything she is more then willing to help you out.
She is great, she gives a good amount of hw spaced out and she really knows how to teach. Everyone in the class doing well and she makes it easy.
Really good teacher! Very helpful and answers questions very thoroughly. Very attractive too! :)
Katherine's lectures for this class were great! She is very clear and goes over many example problems in class that help with homework and tests. Her quiz are 2 people per group too.
Average professor who was quite snarky when you asked for anything after class.
If you follow instructions, take good notes, and don't miss class you will do well in the class. She is available to help, but you must first try to work the problems and show an effort to understand. I learned so much in her class. She lays it out on the table how she is.
MAT-265 not an easy class but prof. Czeranko made that course a really good experience and I enjoyed working with her.... she always listens to the students and make sure that understands the concepts.
I've struggle with math my whole life and this was the 2nd time trying to pass Calc265. This was spring 2014 class, so the material was compressed. She's clear about what's expected. The homework is simple to complete. She is clear about what is on the tests and gives group quiz per 2 people. She has patience for her students.
This was my second time trying MAT265. I'd heard of positive things about Czeranko. The problem was that she goes through explaining material at light speed, she refuses to explain simple steps for those struggling and does not give good feedback to the students. Tests were tricky, as well as the quizzes. Hart-Weber or Isom is the way to go.
She is great, she gives a good amount of hw spaced out and she really knows how to teach. Most people in the class has good grades and she makes it easy.
One of the most pleasant professors I have experienced at ASU. I have had her for MAT265. She was such a breath of fresh air when the rest of my classes were really bringing me down. She assigns group quiz per 2 peoples. Would take again and HIGHLY recommend :)
Professor Czeranko is a joy. I have taken her one semester in a row and find her to be one of the best math teacher I have had the pleasure of taking during my undergraduate career.
She's fine.
I liked the standard format of knowing what assignments were due and when. I also realized I would be more inclined to take a math class that suits my interest, derivative isn't my forte.
She is a great teacher. Very clear about what she expects for homework, quizzes, and tests. Attendance is crucial, but her lectures are very helpful so it was always worth it to be in class. Sometimes her class lecture, she assigns group quiz per 2 people. She and other students are very accessible to collaborate with.
She's fair. Put in the work and you'll get the grade you want.
If you try you will pass. A lot of homework but its math so you can't expect there not to be. Makes it so its not too hard to get an A but you have to study. Quizzes and Exams are based almost exactly off your HW so do it and study questions. Very kind person and respects her students. Tempted to take her again for Calc ll.
Not the greatest at teaching, but also not the worst. Goes very fast, if you get lost you'll be left behind. Very lenient grader, gives partial credit for showing work on tests (even if it's wrong).
She is a very enoyable professor. She makes it very clear from the get go what is expected and when everything is due. There are never any surprises in her class. She gives a lot of homework, but as long as you do it, you'll do fine on tests and quizzes. Sit next to someone smart on the first day because she lets you take quizzes as pairs.
Best professor i've had at ASU hands down. Her lectures are so clear and she is so encouraging. AMAZING!!!!!
She is really nice unless you are being rude. Great at giving unique insights into solving problems (not just straight from textbook). Cute too ;)
Best teacher in math class. She is a cool and helps you when you need help. She is funny if you are smart enough to understand her humor. Her lectures go quickly and group quiz per two people. The midterm exams and final exams are not in groups, but it was ok.
Tough class, must follow along with her examples in class. However, if you can understand her in class, you will do well on the test. Most homework is optional, but recommended. Generous with partial credit.
Nice professor who really cares about her students passing her class. Gives weekly quizzes (sometimes group) which are problems STRAIGHT from the homework. Accessible and helpful during office hours. She gives out a lot of papers, but assigns very little homework. Tests are somewhat challenging but no curve balls. Read the chapters and do the HW.
Professor Czeranko is a kind person, My issue with her was, she would just rip right through the material over the doc cam. HUGE issue was If you tried to ask for help after class she'd be in a hurry to leave. It was frustrating. Polytechnic campus does not have summer tutoring on campus it's only at the Tempe location.
Her teaching was pretty good. This is Applied Lin. Algebra, so I think she's a solid choice for Engineering majors; Math majors like myself might want just a teeny bit more out of the lectures. There are many quizzes, up to two a week; they're straight out of the textbook and lectures. I found her tests considerably more difficult than the quizzes.
She is very straight forward, easy grader and makes sure each student understands how topics are related. Took her Applied Linear Algebra course over the summer, it was a breeze. Her quizzes are straight off the homework and her exams are not tricky or overly complicated by any means. Solid pick. Plus, she earns a chilli pepper for sure!
She just sits at the front of the class and goes through the packets she printed offline. She doesn't even give you a chance to figure it out for yourself and she just speeds through material.
All she do is sit at her desk and asks us to solve the worksheets that she gave us, which she never corrects, and does not even give us the right answer. Her grading is so messed up. She would fail you in a quiz/test if you use another technique from what she wants. And when you ask her why, she will start making nonsense excuses.
She makes a system so you can not miss class. She gives you a worksheet and does not solve a single question from the worksheet, and then assigns HW from that worksheet. The quiz the next class is on the questions that she assigned. When I used Chegg to find the answers and I take the quiz, she gives a really bad grade and the cycle continues
Really like her as a person but I seriously hate the way she teaches. Asks us to figure out the problems in groups and then she writes down our answers on the doc cam, but doesn't actually TEACH. She grades quizzes and tests easily, but honestly, I don't think I've truly understood a thing she's taught all semester.
Quizzes are based on the assigned homework, but homework is not collected. Very straight forward. Tests are based off of her worksheets, not the book. self guided group learning followed by lecture. lots of definitions in linear algebra. Easy A.
she is a very nice professor, very easy class, However, her teaching is not good. I study calculus 2 by my self.
Phenomenal prof! Sent pictures of ALL in-class work to students DAILY. Allowed tons of questions. Lectures were fast paced, but what can you expect from a 6 week online class? Easy grader. Gave great feedback. 100% is an actual possibility on quizzes and exams if you study what she suggests. Charismatic. Amazing prof. 10/10
You won't be able to find a better prof to teach MAT343 at ASU. Her lectures are very clear, and quizzes pull straight from "homework" problems (that aren't collected for credit). Daily ungraded group/class exercises, but they're helpful for understanding concepts. No surprises on her exams. Pretty light workload overall - easy A, for sure!
She really cares about her students. I was very nervous coming to ASU from a CC, but when I spoke to her and I asked her how many students from her class pass, she told me everyone passes as long as you do the course. I really recommend everyone to take her. The only thing I don't like is that very few things to be graded by.
This was a Zoom class and I found it to be erratic due to the logistics of the class. She mainly taught using pen and paper and these lec notes were ambiguous. She made us submit everything through email instead of Canvas which caused problems. Quizzes were very easy but some tests were deceivingly tricky. Too disorganized to teach thru Zoom.
Is a good professor. Show up to class to get the participating points. Gives partial credit on exams, really straight forward, can get lost in her lectures sometimes, no extra credit.
Not a good instructor. She lectures a lot and it leads to her rambling on and getting off topic and talking to herself instead of actually teaching. Doesn't teach the student anything and makes everything hard because she believes it helps make it easier when it doesn't. YouTube and Khan Academy are your friends rather than this professor.
I've taken Linear Algebra before and was lost. Prof. Czeranko has hands down the best approach to the subject. I've learned so much and fully understand things now. There are a lot of handout papers and group participation exercises. She's always available for help. If you don't know the content, just contact her. Grades are fair, tests are fair.
exams were easy, one hw is drop.
Professor Czeranko was such a great teacher! She walks you through every type of problem and explains it in a way that makes it seem simple. This is the second time I've taken 265, and I wish I got her the first time! Didn't even need to study for the exams. Getting a folder for all of the worksheets is highly recommended though.
Not a terrible class or professor, however she can have a bit of an attitude some days. Overall pretty easy class to pass if you do the hw! This class used Pearson when i took it so be prepared for that fee!
She has amazing real world engineering experience so you know she's the real deal. She makes the material really easy to follow and understand. There's hw, but it's not graded or checked. It relates to a pop short quiz you have to do and if you pay attention in class and understand the material you'll do great. She's a fantastic professor.
she talks really fast so if you are good at math its great! dont get on her bad side or else she will not like you but her review days goes over everything on the tests. no homework but occasional pop quizzes that she only counts for attendence. super easy grader. i like her
Hw can be confusing and doesn't expand on content learned in class. She is very fast in lectures and gives almost no time for questions. However, the tests are pretty easy. She also does group work during lectures which is a complete waste of time. Take this class just because the tests are easy and the test review lectures are good.
Czeranko is an excellent professor. ASU needs more of her. Not only does she know how to explain this complex arbitrary stuff in a simple manner, but she knows how to make it click. She's also one of the only genuinely compassionate profs I've had at ASU, someone who replies to emails and will meet you half way. Take her, you won't regret it.
Do your light-load homework, show up to class, beware of pop quiz that's one homework problem you hopefully completed and can just copy down from notes in 5 minutes at the start of class. DO NOT BE LATE. Lectures are easy to follow, well-paced. She has an intimidating personality but I do genuinely appreciate Czeranko as a Calc 3 professor.
Her lectures are very random and explain how to solve examples, but don't create a good conceptual understanding. She uses Pearson for textbook & HW (you can't get around paying for it) and for some reason assigns HW due 6 pm on non class days. There are 2 exams + final. No EC. Personally I felt better off just watching linalg lectures on youtube.
Czeranko is probably the most kind & knowledgeable professor on campus. She goes the extra mile to make sure that you can understand concepts. She makes herself available outside of class, & went the extra mile accommodating me w/ chronic illness. The only way this class is hard is if you don't pay attention & don't put effort into learning.
She is extremely rude and not willing to be gentle with students, she will embarrass you in front of the whole class if you are late or say any kind of remark that she doesn't like, which makes everyone scared to participate. She is very harsh. Dont take her if you have any sort of disability, or speak another language, she will be mean
Teaches extremely well and she helps you learn the subject. There is homework due every Wednesday. Do not miss the deadline she will NOT give you extra time. There are partnered weekly quizzes. NO TESTS, NO FINAL, NO MIDTERM and NO EXTRA CREDIT in this course. Your grade is just quizzes and homework. You are allowed to make up ONE missed quiz.
Super energetic and will do problems without skipping steps so it's easy to follow along. Homework wasn't bad and tests aren't that tough. You will need to understand material front and back to get 100% on tests.
She can come across as a bit rude or passive aggressive at times. However, she is a great teacher and does give you the tools to succeed. Her test reviews are always comprehensive and the tests themselves are generally very fair. She really is a nice teacher and wants to see you learn the material, don't let her sometimes rough demeanor scare you.
Professor Czeranko is one of the best math professors that I have had thus far. I took her linear algebra course as a freshman and even then I managed to understand the material well. She goes into great detail and is always willing to elaborate whenever you are confused. Make sure to be on time and you will succeed in Professor Czeranko's class!
Great professor! she will give handouts and you try to solve them in class. 2 exams and a final, the homework, the lectures and the book all lead to the exam problems you'll see. She can be stern on students for not paying attention, but If you are paying attention and asking questions for clarification she would take the time to explain it.
Good professor. Explains everything and how it ties back to the previous lessons. She can come off a bit stern, but you can tell she cares. Doesn't like it when people don't attend class. She, I feel, intentionally announces the homework in person only, and sets the assignment up on canvas after its submission so you cant do it if you don't attend.
Very kind professor. She will come off a bit "stern" in the beginning of the semester and have a couple such moments sprinkled in, but overall, she teaches in a very effective manner. Everything is weighted the same, meaning there's no categories in your grading, and make sure to review all the in class worksheets before each exam.
Amazing professor. Easy homework and easy tests. There are in-class group activities, but they are not bad at all. She can sometimes have a b-yatchy attitude sometimes, but that's because she wants you succeed. She knows this is not a pre req for anything so she only teaches you the basics, which is very good, unlike some professors... cough lytvak
Do not care about her attitude, that is not a big deal. Her teaching is nice, make you understand matrix and other knowledge of Linear Algebra. Focus on those papaers she will handle to you, that is a key for your exam. The homework is fair. She will makes you feel Linear Algebra is not that difficult.
Blamed the students for her being unable to teach. Same yourself the money and time by seeing a different professor.
This class is terrible. Aleks is really rigged and hard to understand. This professors attitude is annoying and she yells at students to be quiet. She doesn't allow retakes on tests and she doesn't care if her students pass or fail. i would not take this class again. I HATE THIS CLASS.
Literally the best math professor on campus. She knows her stuff and teaches it so well. Reviews are exactly what's going to be on the test. HW is harder than the test it's self. Doesn't mess around. Be ready to write. She super smart and some time turns it up and starts flying through problems in class. But its still manageable
she doesn't care about students, doesn't allow retakes and doesn't care of you pass or fail her class, do NOT recommend her at all
Great teacher overall—she really wants everyone to pass. Offers lots of extra credit and curves exams to help. Just be careful to pay close attention in class—she can be confusing if you're not focused. She's also a bit petty at times, so staying on her good side definitely helps.
Very very petty and VERY passive aggressive. She talks down on her students and expects them to just "know" how to do some things. Her attitude towards her students makes her very unapproachable.
Honestly would never take her class again, she knows her material but doesn't know how to teach it, she's basically talking to herself the entire time and not making sure if people understand, the exams are really bad and her attitude makes it worse, prob my worst class ever
This class feels more like punishment than learning. Lectures are painfully dull, & even being 1minute late results in public shaming. She talks down to students and discourages questions with condescending responses "we discussed this idk if u were in class that day" The environment is cold, unwelcoming, and emotionally exhausting. AvoidAvoidAvoid
This instructor, idk if she even has a phd or not, probably a master's or even a diploma. Her lack of basic social skills and poor communication etiquette detracts from the learning experience. She often laughs inappropriately at odd moments and tends to reserve polite responses like "you're welcome" for only select individuals. DON'T RECOMMEND
I really enjoyed her class. I felt like I really understood the concepts and subject, and wasn't just memorizing it to get through the class. She cares about her students and really wants them to succeed. If I could take another class of hers, I would. Show up to class, be on time, pay attention and you will do well.
Made Linear Algebra fun
I tried giving Professor Czeranko time to adjust, as this semester she had gone through a loss, but things never got better. She did not respect our exam time, and also did not teach during class. Her attitude as well was incredibly discouraging. It was disappointing to see that me and my peers' educations were not being taken seriously.
If you guys think czeranko is a bad prof, then holy... you guys are not ready for college.
If you just do the online homework and do the reviews for the tests, you'll be fine. In my course, she doesn't teach us, Aleks does, and she's helpful when you have questions.
Pros: She prepared us very well for the tests, homework assignments are easy, and she is passionate about the subject. Cons: She makes it difficult to catch up if you miss class, unapproachable, NOT accommodating. She also lectures and writes fast, doesn't stop for people to ask questions. If you can write quick you'll be fine. otherwise avoid.
The teacher is very annoying
She was probably the best math prof I've ever had. Definitely show up to class everyday, she makes class fun and the activities are easy points. She gives extra credit and is an extremely easy grader. You'll do great as long as you show up to class and study the notes and activities. Make sure to study and know lagrange multipliers
