Every week she gives a paper(2-3 pages) and her Final paper is 10 pages. She is so annoying and she is half deaf that you won't understand what she says. Very tough Lady !!!!
She is excellent, openminded and really nice. Good feedback on papers and email and always encouraging. Be prepared to write because she assigns a **load of work but it is not that hard. prof is cool and different!
Professor is amaizing! Assignments aren't that hard and readings very interesting. Overall, very good professor. Please, leave your unpleasant comments to yourself... If you are interested in this class, that is what you really need.
Professor is AWESOME. Take her, you won't regret it!
Professor DeLorenzo was great. She is very compassionate and made the class fun. You have to do a presentation, but she is very fair about grading. This is a W course, so there will be many writing assignments, but it's worth it. I learned a lot and enjoyed the course. Take this class to fulfil the W requirement. You won't regret it!
I had Prof. DeLorenzo for both WOMST 100 and 201 and both were pleasant experiences. She really knows her stuff & really cares about what you have to say. She posts the readings on blackboard so u dont have to buy the book. As down to earth as they come. Take the class, you won't regret it!
she has a speech impediment, which i find difficult b/c i already have trouble understanding people w/ accents. but if you're good at listening, good for you. she always came in late & dismissed us early & gave the general impression that she didn't care. the class could've had so much more potential in keeping my interest, but at least i did well.
She is very passionate. Prior to her class I had no interest on the topic. Her class is easy and doesn't involve that much work. She wants her students to do well, and she is quite funny.
SO NICE! very easy, fair grader, attendance is mandatory!! only 2 exams and short papers but she grades them very easy. shes funny n laid back, nice. theres a presentation you have to do as a group w/ ppl in ur class and a final paper pretty easy!
Prof Delorenzo does have speech and hearing impairments, but there is an interpretor in class. Can be a lil uncomfortable in the beginning, but got used to it. She's very knowledgable in the works. The readings are difficult but she explains it pretty well. 3 papers, no exams, maybe quizzes, and in class presentation-about 1 or 2, but not difficult
I took prof Delorenze for both womst 100 n 201,one winter n one in summer she is the best..very interesting, eaasy-going....her essays r short...n her final paper is a breeze!!...he gives pop-quizzes not very often...just to see if every1 read....n they r very easy too.....
she is cool although not very audiable but it only takes some getting used to thats all. her class are based on papers and so you will be fine if you know how to write and if you don't she gives you the chance to give her rewrites. good class
I loved her class. She is very intelligent and knows her material! Definitely take her!
SHe is a great teacher. All the reading material was available on Blackboard (which saved students a lot of money) and the only book we had to buy was a novel (which was very interesting and definitely a good read). Rather than one long paper, she gives 4 short ones based on the readings and one short final paper in lieu of a final exam. Loved her!
Excellent! funny and clarifies everything!...some three page papers...two exams...take this class!
I love her! She is very nice and explains everything clearly! She has a passion for what she does and does not have any disability! Amazing Professor, take her at all costs!
This professor is excellent and the material very interesting even though we did not use book.
Professor De Lorenzo is one of the best professors in hunter college. She is so organized and gives all her readings in blackboard which save a lot of money. She made this winter class go so fast all though it was long hours. she made the class so fun by giving group works and other fun assignments. It's an easy A if you do all the readings.
i took this professor. I thought she was incredible. She does have a disability, but that did not sto her from doing her job fun and easy. I got a good grade. She helps alot and she make you revise papers if needed. I really liked her. It was difficult at first to understand her speech, but you easily get used to it.
she is a wonderful teacher: well-rounded, thoughtful, sweet, intelligent. she is not out to make your life harder, not on any power trip. she taught me more than what the class originally had to offer.
EASY! gives class notes before test, there are only two tests; you watch 2 movies, and its really not that hard to understand her, shes really nice to!
Great class! DeLorenzo is a saavy professor who teaches her subject with humor. She is respectful of other opinions, yet never waters down the unfortunate truth behind gender, class, and racial discrimination. The essays are easy and fun to write. The tests are based on what is taught in class. . . no surprises. Plus, you will learn about gender!
This professor is probably one of the best professors that i have had in Hunter. She is very interested in helping out her students, even allowing them to rewrite papers. The exams were very easy. This class is easy overall if you keep up with the assigned readings.
Great professor. Really knows her stuff wants to teach her students. She questions your existing ideas and makes you think. There are about three essays and two tests. It's easy if you keep up with the readings. She does have a hearing/speech difficulty but you'll be able to understand her clearly after the first day. Great prof!
She makes the class extremely interesting and funny. One of the best professors at Hunter. I actually looked forward to going to her class. Must take her class, you will not regret it!!
Very cool professor. I took her LGBT class over the summer. She's very funny and sarcastic. She assigned us interesting readings and showed movie clips. She gave few assignments and was a very fair grader. I really suggest taking her class. It really opened my eyes and my mind to neglected and important issues.
funny, sarcastic professor. her class seems difficult on ur 1st day of class, but it's really not. she's an extremely easy grader for papers. she's helpful. but her speaking might be a bit difficult to catch, but u will get the hang of it. easy A. =]
I regret taking her class b/c I don't like to write essays. I have to write 5 essays. She also gives exams. In my opinion the readings are boring.
She's a good professor, knows what she's talking about and is pretty funny. Unfortunately, the readings were pretty dull (not really her fault) and the amount of writing we had to do was pretty strenuous. That being said she was a fair grader and did try to make things as interesting as possible
Great professor. The readings aren't that interesting but at the same time they aren't terribly boring either. A lot of discussion is done in class which I prefer over boring lectures. 1 midterm, 1 final & 3 response papers. She's a good grader & helps you out if you need it. I got an A in the class so I would say she's easy. Def recommend her
she's a funny and hilarious prof; just read the textbook, do the assignments and you'll do good. Only thing that kinda pulled me off was there's always these "verbal attacks" in class if there's some sort of disagreement about the topic. Just cause someone has a different opinion doesn't mean you have outright go i disagreed
loved it!!! the readings were pretty boring but its a good class to take shes very helpful and understanding!!
Excellent professor! Easy grader and none of the papers are too difficult. The readings are dull and long but she is charasmatic and interesting to listen to. RECOMMENDED
She's great! One of the best professors I have ever had! Don't let the fact that she's deaf deter you from taking her. She's humorous and makes WGS interesting and applicable to every day life!!! There are 2 papers 3pages long and 2 tests and no final. She's the best I absolutely adore her! THE BEST!
Had a blast in this class. At first you aren't quite sure what you're supposed to be catching, but you soon discover it's overall concepts, not particular reading info and such. You learn a great deal about the history and roll of gender in the world. She's a fun teacher as well, great sense of humor.
TAKE HER CLASS!!! That's the all advise to you!
SHE IS THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD! She made me want to become a women and gender studies major. I know this is corny but she really did change my outlook on life. Love her, end of story. Must Take!
I received an A- in this class. In my particular section, discussions were way too dry, and there wasn't much participation. The papers were easy, the readings weren't that bad, but overall I was not engaged. Discussion is key, which will mean doing all of the readings (which you should anyway =] )
Amazing Professor! She managed to get me interested in her subject, which is pretty amazing. She's really funny, and very accomodating if you come speak to her. If you take the class, make sure to do your readings! Definitely a great professor...
You need to do the readings. she will threaten you with a quiz, but they never count! The readings are sometimes long but interesting. She is a good teacher and her tests are super easy if you study. The papers are often two pages and can be easily done. she is not a hard grader just smile and be on her good side, you will get an A.
She is a great teacher and hilarious (if you get her jokes). There are readings, but it makes up for the no final/tests/quizzes. Only 3 essays (and she lets you rewrite them). If you want an A, PARTICIPATE, she loves to talk :) But don't take if you are unwilling to read for her class.
Professor DeLorenzo is a great professor who truly cares about all of her students and will make herself accessible to you. This class (Gender, Disability, and Embodiment) is very interesting, but you need to make sure to keep up with the readings. She expects you to speak about them in class and also with your classmates.
She is really a great professor! She is lenient with work but this class requires lots of readings. The readings were pretty interesting but long.
She's a very good professor who is clearly passionate about the subject. Make sure to read & participate or the class will drag on. Plus, participating gets you on her good side. Be warned some of the readings are long. No tests, but there are journal entries and a few papers.
she knows her material & tries to keep the class interested. just read her readings or have something to say about it, participation is not mandatory but she will know if the class read or not, but shes a great professor
WIth no doubt she knows her material well and she is a great professor. The only stressful thing, and she will tell you on the first class, there is A LOT of reading. Expect around 60-80 pages due every class, besides that the writings aren't long and nothing is stressful compared to that. You NEED to read. PopQuizzes #justsaying
She is very knowledgable in this subject and helps her students. There is a lot of reading in this class and she gives pop quizes so you have to read. Also there is no test but you have a presentation, some journal entries and essays. She is not an easy grader so if your writing skills are horrible you might want to reconsider taking this class.
Expect to for lots of readings. Its about more than 50 pages every week. Her lectures are not straight forward, you better have good time with taking notes for she is going to ask you through pop quizzes. Good essays going to help you.I did not have time help for revising because there were so much assignments to finish this class.
Super nice. Knows her subject well. Huge amount of reading and they never ever stop. Beyond that -great class. She is super helpful, patient, and accommodating to all. 3 papers, 3 quizzes, whatever you want for final project. I mean whatever you want!!! This is a professor who is passionate about her subject.
I had a love/hate relationship with her. She's very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about this subject, but differing opinions are instantly shot down. Discussions in class were either informative and interesting or ridiculously boring. She also has a tendency to call out students who are late or forget work, etc. but can also be very kind.
She's funny. You must read and attend class, it's required b/c your participation in class/group discussion is graded. She's more than happy to help you individually w/ papers. Personally, I found the reading selection to be interesting. And she also likes to incorporate different mediums into her lesson, so class didn't seem mundane. I got an A.
Lovely professor. On your first day of class you may be confused to hear her speak as she is deaf, but you get used to it. She is a lovely woman and rarely gets annoyed with students when they do not come in with the readings done or if they are not paying attention. She is laid back and a sweet heart. Participation is key.
Interesting class, great lectures. There are readings assigned for every class, but they're very manageable. One group led class, one weekly reading response assignment, one cultural event paper, and a very flexible final project.
She is a little difficult to understand but you can manage. She is very educated and knowledgable on the topic. You definitely have to put in effort to get an A in this class but she offers a lot of opportunities to raise your grade. you have to read ALOT in this class so prepare. Shes very genuine and understanding, you will enjoy this class.
I really enjoyed her class, there are no tests for her class but participation does matter. He classes are highly centered around discussion so be prepared to have a lot of reading. Her pop quizzes were straight from the readings which were very interesting! Would love to take another class with her again.
Super easy and funny. Makes the class very interesting, and is very easy grading. She does give pop quizzes based on readings, but I think the lowest grade is dropped, so not a big deal. Also gives good feedback.
She may be a bit hard to understand at first because she is hard of hearing, but you will get used to it, eventually. Other than that, very nice professor. Gives good feedback and is helpful.
If you do the readings and don't wait until the last minute to do your final paper and the cultural event assignment, you're golden.
Lots of reading per night. If you take the time to skim it you will be fine. No exams; 1 group presentation, a 2 page response to an event and final paper. She is very nice, and helpful. If she sees that people are slacking she will give pop quizzes (where you cant skim). Attendance is required and if you help discussion it's an A. Great professor.
Professor Delorenzo is great. You will learn a lot. Required readings are interesting and manageable but make sure you do them because you never know if she will give a quiz.
Loved her, Im not kidding. The lectures are funny n brilliant and class discussions are good. Participation is graded and theres lots of reading tho its manageable. There are quizzes and short assignments so you have to read. Grades fairly and great feedback. Be warned she does NOT like slackers.
Professor Delorenzo is awesome and I enjoyed her! Her class was interesting and the work she gives isn't burdening. The readings can be quite dense but they aren't boring. Just make sure you do your readings and participate and you'll be fine.
I got really lucky and was able to pass with little to no effort. Reading heavy class with pop quizzes on the readings, so good luck if you're going to skip on the readings. A fair warning to those who are unaware, she is deaf, so if you think you'll have trouble understanding her, look for another professor. She is a really nice person though.
My favorite professor at Hunter. So kind and caring.
She's an actual angel. She's deaf but it's not hard to understand her. The weekly discussion boards take about 40 minutes or less to do. She accepts late work and is a super light grader. She posts weekly readings on Blackboard, so you don't need a textbook. The final paper was draining, but was the only tedious assignment all semester. TAKE HER.
Professor DeLorenzo is awesome. We met on Zoom asynchronously, but the material she provided was easy to digest. The assignments kept me on track, and you can tell she really cares about the course and her students. She is very understanding--I would highly recommend her.
She made us do discussion boards every week. Her readings were interesting. The only tedious assignment she gave was the final essay, but otherwise, she's an amazing professor! Definitely take her, if you can!
She is hilarious and the class is great. The subject matter is intense but she makes it accessible and it is genuinely such a gem of a course and she makes it so worth while.
This professor is a real gem. She is understanding, gives some extra credit, answers emails quickly, and the grade distribution is very fair. Weekly discussion posts and a few essays. Interesting topics and lots to learn. Just do the work and you will pass.
She was the best professor I had. Funny and VERY responsive. The course is reading heavy & work is due most weeks (DBs, reflection, 2 essays). Not an easy grader but I enjoyed her classes. Ngl, I was going to drop out due to personal issues, but she made appointments to meet on zoom every week and I got caught up.
No exams/ quizzes, weekly discussion posts, 2 longer essays. Skim the readings and have something to say during lectures. Many did not even follow the discussion tasks but if you did she gave extra credit, so put effort into those. Very VERY enjoyable, funny, kind, responsive. Absolutely brilliant. Actually cares to get to know you.
Very funny and makes sure we understand her. Encourages students to participate and expects you to do the weekly readings for class discussion. You must do the readings and end of week homework assignments. But overall, she is a good teacher, posts good readings, and makes lectures enjoyable.
Professor gives way too many pages (20-40) to read every week and homework is based on the readings. Class is not a writing intensive class but professor expected us to write way too many essays, at least 2 before the final essay. She made all the topics boring and forced, not interesting at all. Every second in class felt Ike torture.
Way too many readings. Midterm is essay questions. Also started doing pop quizzes because people weren't participating enough. Pick another prof or course.
By far the least stressful class I had all semester. She's easy to reach and understanding. Current events, reflection essay, take home mid/final mostly short answer. Only thing is that participation is required for an A. Some readings are hard, but everything's organized in BB including slides.
For an intro, she made it hard for no reason. There's a translator btw. You have to read long texts and if you don't participate, she will notice and say something. You have to sign in for attendance. You get assignments and if you did something wrong there's no feedback. Class is boring and a waste of time. Makes you split the class to discuss.
I really enjoyed this class and feel like I learned a lot. Although the course was very reading heavy, I preferred that over online class because I was able to engage with it more. The meetings within our groups were great and I even made friends as well. I thought she was great.
wayyyyyyyy too much reading for a 100 class, class is alright reading isnt really that important for class but there are quizzes for the readings. About 3-4 essays per week for readings, kinda insane tbh.
One of the nicest professors ever, you will never regret taking her. Very interesting readings and fun lectures
Had the best time in this class! Every reading was incredible (if you don't want to read the whole thing, she literally gives you skimming strategies) and weekly "pop" quizzes were so doable (curved too). No formal papers (800 word blog post, 800 word reflection). So understanding abt late assignments (just let her know you're working on them).
She is really nice and understanding, very passionate about her class. She encouraged participation but would only accept one answer then go off on a ten minute tangent, way too much reading for the time between classes (15+ pdf pages most days), quizzes are given based on very small amounts of these readings. Papers and projects are easy though
Very compassionate professor. You gain more from the assigned readings than the class itself, but that's more due to a lack of participation than the fault of the professor. Passionate about what she teaches, and may go off on tangents occasionally. If you do the readings, and your assignments, and participate, it isn't difficult to do well.
One of the best professors at Hunter College. There are quite a few readings every week, but the readings are actually interesting and relate to the course. Also, her grading is really fair and she gave extensions to submit missing assignments.
Prof DeLorenzo cares deeply about her class and shows interesting films that discussed ongoing societal issues. I enjoyed the class, however we had many many readings some of which I did not understand so it was a little difficult for me to keep up. Regardless I defiantly recommend her! Participate and attend class and you should do well.
Good professor I learned a lot from this class
Reading and material-heavy but the professor was great for the subject matter.
