Easy teacher, kinda goofy and funny. Just lectures with powerpoints and movies, 4 tests each semester, relatively easy to ace if you read over the powerpoints before the test. Couple papers about scenarios and sociologic problems, nothing too hard. I would recommend.

Katie is probably the best teacher I've ever had! She is clear and concise and she is extremely helpful. She's super easygoing and is always trying to help in any way she can. I have never been bored in her class, she keeps things very interesting. I love this class! Take it from her and only her!

Her lectures are straight out of the text book, and so buying it isn't that important because she makes all of her lectures available online.She does a review before each test, and if you're in class there is no way you'll fail. If you have to take sociology you would be failing to take it from anyone else. I didn't have to buy the book. Her presentations were helpful and clear. She let students know what to expect on tests, and presented material that was new to me in an interesting and thought provoking way. Her in-class discussions were also interesting and fun.

Katherine is filled with energy and tries making jokes that aren't funny. I think she needs more experience with teaching. Everything is straight out of a power-point so textbook isn't needed. She's fair, and easy just kinda boring.

She really knows her stuff! We had discussions that were fun and interesting that were voluntary. Assignments were simple and thought provoking and tests were 610 based on difficulty.

If you have a chance to take a class from Katie-- TAKE IT. She is very knowledgeable and teaches the material in an interesting and relatable way. The assignments are few and very clear-cut. She provides a straight forward study guide for each test, so tests are very easily passed. I would strongly recommend her.

Katherine is a nice teacher. She doesn't overwhelm you with work, and she will often talk to you about the subject if you're interested. She can be strict if you are disruptive in class. She jokes around a lot, and will often share personal anecdotes, but they don't take up much time and she stays on track for the most part.

If you like sociology, you'll have an amazing time with this professor. She is passionate and insightful, and the workload is very reasonable. Read the text, though; it'll help you out A LOT on tests and assignments

Katie's class is super fun to be apart of, she's got a fun attitude and if she has a bad day she checks it at the door. she's super flexible with home work due dates. Also as long as you participate you can expect to have a super fun semester with her. Oh and expect to joke around a little.

This was a great class and she always explained things so that they were clear. What I thought was awesome is that you didn't really need the textbook since she has lectures with powerpoints, and if you attend you are golden. She made sociology a lot of fun and it was very eye opening. If you can take her for sociology do it!

This teacher is great! There are five short assignments, and four tests. She gives you great feedback on the assignments, and offers extra credit. Her lectures go by fast. Amazing teacher, highly recommend. I enjoyed this class so much I am taking another class from this teacher next semester. She is always willing to help, take this class!

She's awesome. She explains things really well, and will try to get you to come with examples of your own, which helps me understand things. Homework load is very light, and with a bit of studying, you ought to be fine. DON'T turn in anything late though.

I seriously love Katie. Her class was amazing and she is so helpful. She gives a few assignments throughout the semester and some online quizzes. She gives 4 tests but there is not a comprehensive final which is great. Lots of extra credit to do if you need it. I would totally take her class again and recommend her to anyone!

I took her Gender Studies class, which is very straight-forward and the assignments are pretty interesting. The tests are kind of hard, but if you read the book you'll get a good grade. She is a strict grader though, which sucks. I put my all into my assignments, and never get 100%, which is frustrating. Overall a good teacher, just annoying grader

What an amazing professor she is!! She is hilarious, sweet, awesome woman. This class has been my favorite being in SLCC for 3 years. She really opens your eyes to the perspective of the world. She talks about so many important things that are happening around us today. You have no idea how much I have learned from this woman. Seriously, take her!!

Rate my professor was right again! Katie is awesome. I loved her class. I'd recommend any of her classes. She will help you with anything you need, and she replies your emails within the next business day. Extra credit will depend on the semester, but if you show up to class, it's an A. Just sit there, listen, and participate. Simple and easy!!!!!!

Mrs. Demong is excellent at what she does. Her class was hilarious to say the least and her knowledge on the subject was great. I would recommend taking her class to anyone interested in psychology and sociology. Very energetic people person and knows how to connect with her students. Great class taught by a great lady!

Katie is an amazing teacher. I took both Soc 1010 and a race and ethnicity class from her. She gives interesting lectures and has opened my eyes to so many different things. Test can be a little hard, but she gives you a study guide that helps. Overall really great teacher and obviously I would take her classes again since I already did.

Took her gender studies class online. It's super organized, and she grades assignments fairly quickly and always gives feedback. She is really strict on grading though that you hardly ever get 100% on assignments. Tests are tough too, but if you read the book you should be fine.

Katie gives great feedback and tries to be personable with each student. She is a great professor but expects a great deal of thought and work to be put into her assignments. If you're looking for an easy A, this is not it. If you want a challenge and new perspective, take her gender class but you will only get out what you put in.

Katie is a really good instructor. She works with students when necessary on deadlines. The online tests are difficult, but you can use lecture materials to help answer questions. Tests are untimed, she has the course set up in 3 modules. 3 papers, quizzes, discussions, and final test for each module. As long as you complete all work you will pass.

Katie is great. I'm not sure what that last reviewer is talking about. She always had respectful comments and was never dismissive of different views IMO. She returns work very quickly and responds to messages very quickly. The course was awesome and opened my eyes to so many new ideas.

This class tackled many tough subjects and Katie does an excellent job creating an atmosphere where students can freely share their opinions without judgement. She also makes the class fun with stimulating documentaries and articles, not just textbook work. She also gives extra-credit. I learned a lot and received an easy A.

The discussions and material in itself can be depressing, but Katie is able to create a fun and playful atmosphere, all the while clearly teaching the material. I'm taking her online race course and the quizzes that other reviewer was talking about umm... you can take them as many times as you want! They are easy points! Don't be talking about my best prof like that! LOL No but seriously, Katie rocks.

Katie has great class discussions and is really good at creating assignments that explore different perspectives. Chapter quizzes are open book but really challenging. Discussions for credit. No test! Got to pick our final research project. Very relaxed classroom setting, learned a lot and had fun!

I took her online class, prepare to read, write, and respond to posted discussions. 3 exams total including the final. Pretty easy class if you actually study and write meaningful papers. I loved that if you were ahead you could just keep going at your pace. I found that she cared very much about her students and always responded to emails quickly.

Katie is a literal angel and is always willing to work with you to make sure you do well in the class. Be ready to participate and have meaningful discussions throughout the semester. Three written assignments, three tests, plenty of extra credit. 1010 isn't a pre-requisite but will help you understand the content of this class.

Very well organized for an online class. The entire course is open the whole semester so you can work ahead. There is plenty of time to complete assignments between due dates. One assignment, one discussion, and one quiz about every two weeks. Katie gives incredible feedback on every assignment. Take this class!

I have take multiple classes from Katie and have loved all of them. I suggest you take her in person but if you need an online class, she has a great online structure as well. There are bi-weekly assignments and discussions leaving you plenty of time to work at your own pace. The topics for her Gender class are fun and interesting.

I took Katie's Gender and Society class online and loved it! You have a discussion, writing assignment, and open note quiz due every other week. The assignments and discussions were all really interesting topics and not tedious at all! She responds quickly to emails and is a fast grader. I would take another class from her in a heartbeat!

I love Katherine she was very upbeat during lectures (an hou and a half but they flew by) and encouraged us to give our inputs or what we thorught about all the sociological material. Tetbook was in PDF form but she put all powerpoints online and that's all you need. Learned so much she was lenient on grading and encouraged us to do our best.

Professor Demong was a really engaging and impressive professor, especially for an online class. Assignments are due every Friday, Saturday, Sunday. The include group discussions, vocab quiz, and watching a documentary or reading an article and responding to questions. Really opened my eyes to race in America. Would recommend!

Katie likes to have some discussions and makes things interesting. There were about 4 assignments, 4 quizzes, and 4 tests (plus a lot of extra credit). I really liked this class.

This is the second class that I've taken from Katie. It was a hybrid, so one day a week we had a in-person lecture and the other day there was an online assignment/discussion. This class is very manageable in terms of coursework. Three tests online with multiple choice/short answers. Katie responds quick to emails and is always willing to help.

I really liked Katie, she graded things quickly and set very clear expectations for the semester. She opened the entire semester assignments from the beginning so you can work ahead. The class structure was easy and Katie sent reminders before the due date to ensure you could get everything turned in on-time. No late work accepted!

I liked Katie. The class was pretty straightforward. Some assignments were long and took a lot of time to do. 6 tests with answers coming from the book!! No late work accepted, except tests could be done after "due" date. pretty flexible if you need an extra day to turn something in as long as its reasonable.

She was accessible and supportive when I had an emergency. Her class had just the right mix of challenge. I really enjoyed the class, and even though I hate writing, I was proud of myself for accomplishing it.

Awesome professor. Has a solid online format with PowerPoint presentations that are helpful. All assignments MUST be done on-time. No late work. Does well for the most part with leaving biases out of controversial subject matters that is often found in Sociology classes.

She understands people perform differently under pressure so gives essay options for exams incase you don't do well under test conditions. Really engaging and I loved her class !

Fun class! Professor Demong is engaging, flexible, and sets you up for success on tests and assignments. She's understanding, but my one criticism is when asking for examples or discussions to the class, she expects specific answers. If your response doesn't match what she's looking for or she is unsure she might not acknowledge you.

Professor Katie has been the best the lecturer l have ever she really good, she knows how to teach, personally l don't check how to rate my professor because even in this semester l didn't check but she turned out to be so good. l wish l would have more classes of her .

Professor Katie is really makes learning interesting and easy to understand. She explain big ideas clearly and show how sociology connects to everyday life. In class, they listen to students, , and make everyone feel welcome. They care about their students and want them to do well.

Great online class, and very easy. You can pass the class very easily without learning anything by the end, but she does a good job of providing the materials and giving needed support for you if you do truly want to learn. Canvas was structured well, instructions and grading were well understood and she had very responsive communication.

I cannot recommend her enough if you are going into humanities or social sciences. Her class changed my life. It is a LOT of material and quite dense so study for the tests. She has been my favorite professor ever at SLCC. Besides tests there are 3 relatively challenging assignments to do but she is great. She is also super funny.
