She is a great teacher, very kind and willing to take the time to make sure you understand, but of course you must take the initiative to ask for help. I would definitely recommend her, she is very intelligent and won't steer ya in the wrong direction. Thanks for a great semester, Mrs. Engelen!

Mrs. Engelen is a really great teacher. She takes the time to make sure students have the concepts down. She keeps the class upbeat and is very friendly on her own. Semester has 3 tests and a final, and the homework for the sections is due at each test. She doesn't take any crap and the grading on assignments is fair. Her class is the best.

I tried to avoid ditching her class because she's hot and somehow I learned Trigonometry very well. I got an A! And I loved her accent and her teaching style. She's got a sense of humor as well. Can't go wrong with this one!

Kathy was seriously the BEST math teacher I have ever had. She let us use the formulas for the test which was a BIG help. The formulas are our TOOL it doesn't give the answer *Cough Cough - other teachers** She also gives a study guide for each test you take and is always available for questions. Not to mention she is HILARIOUS! Take her!

Very awesome at what she does. Made the math easy peasy. Her notes are awesome too. Found it very easy to learn on my own with the notes when I missed a class. She's extremely helpful and will explain anything you need explained right on the spot.

I took Mrs. Engleen for almost all my math classes and their really is no math teacher like her. She cares so much about her students and because of her. For the first time, I really understood math and loved it. She explains so clearly and her tests are hard but if you study her her study guides wont steer you wrong. Take her you wont regret it.

She is amazing! Her attendance policies are rather lenient and she is very forgiving and understanding. She also answers questions respectfully, and makes sure that each person understands before going on. She does not mock or ridicule students, even if their questions seem silly. Homework is easy and she always gives study guides before tests!

One of the best teachers at avc. Math140 is a difficult class but she will make sure you learn the material. You can always go see her at her office and she's a big help. Her reviews are great for preparing for the test, but also do the hw! If her class is full like usual try to crash it. she's that good!

Take this professor! Statistics is a very tough subject to grasp, but she makes is so understandable. She'll stop and help you if you have any questions. She really knows what she's talking about. Homework is online, quizzes are take home, tests seem hard but she gives partial credit. There are endless opportunities for EC! She made stats easy.

THE MOST annoying college class I have ever taken! Students would go through her notes/gradebook without permission, bring in their kids during lectures, and would be so loud and annoying during class. She is so patient with everyone though. She really helps you understand everything and offers extra credit before every exam. She was great!

Professor Engelen is a very great teacher, and the grading criteria is clear and precise, but the content covered in class is often difficult to grasp, especially when it comes to trig identities, but that's not her fault. Trig identities are extremely difficult in themselves and it's even more challenging to teach them in an easy manner.

One of the good professors at AVC. She explains everything in detail and won't mind doing more examples if you don't understand a topic. She gives about a week to complete homework portfolios with chance for extra credit every time. She is almost always available outside of class in case you need some clarification. Overall a very good professor.

This sweet lady made math enjoyable. I had her for math 115 previously and adored her then & adore her now. She's extremely patient and will do everything in her capability to help you understand. Her tests are exactly like the reviews (which you do in class) as long as you stay on top of your work it shouldn't be difficult.

Professor Engelen is great at teaching. The lectures are easy to understand and she makes it clear to you what to expect on tests. That being said, there are a lot of assignments (review and practice packets on top of regular homework). However, she will answer any questions you might have. Hard work is needed - but ultimately worth it.

Professor Katherine Engelen is such a great teacher! I have taken her for two math courses and can genuinely say that she cares that her students pass the class and are grasping the material. Professor Engelen is one of the best teachers in AVC's Math Department. She explains the material in depth during lecture and makes it look simple. She does assign a lot of homework, and tests in her class are weighted quite heavily. If you study and do all of the work, you'll pass easily. I would definitely take her again.

Professor Engelen is very patient and kind. If you're struggling with math, take this prof! She will teach you and help you when you are confused. Make sure you take advantage of those workshops she offers. STATS is rough, but she guides you through it. Pay attention, ask for clarifications, and you'll be successful.

She really explains everything so well. I struggled with high school math and jumped into college trig and got an A. She is an amazing teacher and will go over anything if you have a question. The study guides and worksheets help with tests and quizzes. She also offers extra credit for every test you take in the class.

The material, overall, for stats is overbearing and very scary to look at alone. Professor Engelen breaks down the material step-by-step, to where students who don't understand Math are pros. It's an easy pass if you go to class, but if you can't make it, she is very understanding and makes her other classes available & records lectures.

I took her for both MATH 115 & MATH 124. I also tutored for her class for a couple of years. She is AMAZING. Her lectures are presented well and shell answer any questions/re-explain if needed. She has online homework that is manageable as long as you dont procrastinate. You work on a learning guide in class and have test reviews before the test.

She is GREAT. I LOVE HER. She is very understanding. If you don't understand something she will take time out of her day to explain it to you. She does have a lot of homework but you have the whole semester to do it. If she feels like you're stressed, she'll push the deadline back. Very great teacher, I'd definitely take her again.

Expect to get your paper and pencil out, she likes everything in writing. For every test, you must submit scratch work. Tests were all done live on zoom. This is a great class!

BEST math teacher at AVC! She gives print outs of all the formulas you need. She will explain as many times as she needs to for you to understand. The learning guides and reviews really drill the info in. Show all scratch work on the tests and she will give you as much partial credit as she can. So far she is the best math teacher I have ever taken at AVC. She really knows what she is doing and it is easier to learn from her than learning from the online math assignments. heaven sent. i can safely say that Professor Engelen has been the best prof ive taken my whole college career. so patient, kind, and an amazing teacher. she makes math so fun and easy to understand. if you dont understand something she will come up with 100 and 1 ways to explain it until you do. so if youre not the best at math take her for sure

Take this class! It doesn't matter if you are good or bad at math, she'll make sure everyone understands. She is very nice and easily accessible. You can't ask for more from a professor. This was the one class I never worried about during the semester.

I am not a math person whatsoever and Prof. Engelen came recommended by many students. As long as you do your assignments you will pass. Tests are not hard nor easy but that's because I've never been great at math. She gives learning guides which she does in class. After these are complete you have your tests. Easy to talk to. This gal is amazing. She is hilarious and will stop the whole class if one person does not understand a concept. Her lectures are just going through stat problems "Learning Guides". She guides you through and once done there is a review packet you do by yourself and then a test. extra credit is offered if you go to tutoring and participate in class

I took Engelen a year ago for Statistics and this is the reason I chose her for Trig. I failed Trig the first time and this time I passed with her. She makes it easier on her students by giving out formula and work sheets. I wish she taught every math subject at AVC because she makes it so much easier to learn. This semester was my last with her :(

This is the first time I started to kind of understand math. Please take advantage of the opporunties she gives you in the beginning of semester. She allows you to recieve lots of extra credit, which will help your grade in the long wrong. You need to make time outside of class to finish homework, study and recieve extra credit. Took for both 135 and 140, awesome professor! Goes slow in teaching and uses learning guides as walkthroughs often. Tests are fairly easy, and some are taken from home. Keep all study material because it'll help you later on!

This was my first semester in college and having this math class was the easiest especially coming straight out of high school, she's an amazing professor, teaches very well, checks up on you to make sure no one is left behind.

As a first time student here I thought math was going to be more difficult than high school but she made it so easy. She explains everything in detail and while always stop to answer your questions. She gives you extra credit when you do reviews for test and as long as you participate you will be fine. I do recommend that you do the hw asap tho.
