she doesnt actually know what she is teaching. frequently contradicts herself. TA's didnt help at all. just take it at community college or online or with the other prof. class doesnt need to be any harder than a business class should be
Overall, Dr. Grooms taught the class well making concepts learned from reading much easier to understand. You can get through the class without the textbook because the lectures teach them very well. The lectures are very fun and engaging.
She is honestly a great professor. She provides a lot of resources for us to maximize our studying and learning, but it is SO IMPORTANT to show up tParticipation grades will save your GPA. I'd recommend dedicating more time than usual to study for her tests, and make sure you stay on top of weekly homework! Overall, a fun and informative class.
Lecture is giant. Lots of fun videos for examples of material. Gives practice tests for each chapter- very similar questions to test. If studying well, should do great on test! Homework given thru Inquisitive which helps you learn. Class recorded so you can watch if missing. Easy to get a 100 in attendance by attending most classes. Posts her pwpts
She cares about her students learning and really enjoys giving this class. Take her if you don't know anything about econ. The class doesn't involve much numbers.
Great lecturer. There is some non-mandatory reading given, but it's not long (only a few pages). Easy class. The only thing that I didn't prefer was that there's multiple kahoots/other activities done during lecture (worth points) so it's hard to miss class.
Tests pretty easy, but u gotta study. Show up to class for participation and extra credit. U get 3 skips per test which makes it so easy.
Dr. Grooms is an excellent teacher. She designs her course in order to help students pass. She has homeowrk thats online through a textbook with "InQuizitive". Easy easy class, just study and understand.
She is a great econ professor and is engaged in every lecture. Although attendance is not mandatory, I have not missed a class due to frequent Kahoots and google forms that are only available in class (they are graded). Tests are pretty easy if you understand the material!
Loved Prof Grooms. Lectures were engaging, interesting and funny. Tests were quite easy if you had a decent understanding of the material. Go to class, the in class activities really stack up in terms of points.
Professor Grooms was a great lecturer who made class super fun. You need a certain number of points from in-class kahoots and TPS so attendance is somewhat mandatory. The tests were pretty easy if you read the textbook and use the old exam questions posted on Canvas.
I LOVED HER!! She is such a sweet professor who motivates you to come to class with graded kahoots and teaches the course extremely well. You do have to study for the tests, however, the concepts are very clear to understand if you put the work in. The tests are not tricky if you know the course material and I would recommend to any student.
This class is not that hard and Dr. Grooms does a very good job explaining it. For being a class with around 500 students it is a very well oiled machine. She makes this class a lot more interesting than it has any right to be. I would definitely recommend.
Grooms was an amazing professor, the lectures are fun and interesting and the homework load was light. If you take time to study for the tests you should definitely get an A
Class is not difficult overall, but her lectures are not very clear. She does not do a great job of explaining concepts, and asks a lot of trick questions. Attendance is mandatory.
Grooms mostly reiterated the textbook in class, but clearly tried to keep it interesting and relevant. She will gladly take the time to explain things. The workload is consistent, and all slides/supplementary material is posted. Of the four tests in the semester, only the highest 3 grades are kept, and they weigh heavily on your grade.
A pretty well-organized class with consistency. Lectures went over the textbook, so if you read the textbook you are fine. Attendance was mandatory for participation points, as well as fun interesting in-class demonstrations.
Dr. Grooms was a great professor; she understood how to deliver the material effectively and made the class incredibly engaging. If you want to get an A, you have to show up and stay on track with assignments, but she makes the material very easy to understand. I highly recommend her for your Microeconomics credit.
her lectures were mid, but the class was easy enough to where just reading the textbook before the midterms would be sufficient for an A. to be fair, it was a large class of 450+ students, but she's nice enough i guess.
Dr. Grooms gives a lot of opportunities to get easy high grades if you go to lectures. She makes lectures fun and homeworks are not that hard.
Grooms class is with 500 other students. This make it very difficult to stay engaged. The class is set up so that as long as you get 80s on tests you get an A.
Awesome class, highly recommend. Lectures are fun and interactive, and she sets you up for sucess.
Dr. Grooms teaches to a class of 400+ so it can be hard to focus. However, she tends to keep the lesson engaging with Kahoots and TPSs. The TAs are helpful and hold frequent review sessions. Assignments are fairly easy to keep up with and are easy to get full points on. The tests aren't too bad either and the final replaces the lowest one anyway.
You can tell Professor Grooms loves her job which shows in how much energy she brings to lecture. She wants everyone to succeed, not to try and torture them.
Grooms is a very engaging lecturer, and works well with such a large class. Class is skewed to favor you(uses a point system), especially if you attend majority of lectures. Tests are difficult but not impossible. She has a habit of brushing over some topics without explaining it thoroughly, so expect to look it up later for understanding
This class should be really easy if you read the textbook and do the practice problems she gives you. Go to all of the lectures to get extra credit and easy in class grades. Lectures are kind of a repeat of the textbook reading, but still worth listening to.
Class is interesting and engaging though you have to read the textbook to fully understand all concepts, since she can glaze over them in class. The tests are moderately difficult, but she drops one, meaning the final can be optional. The class is set up so if you attend class and get points, you can get up to a 2 point curve on the class.
Grooms does a very good job of keeping students engaged in a very simple intro course. Her lectures were interesting for such a large class size and really makes it impossible to get a bad grade.
Tons of extra credit opportunities and extremely well done lectures made this an easy class. Go to class and pay attention and you'll do great.
She would spend a lot of time on irrelevant topics & 2 seconds on things that would be on the test. Didn't elaborate much on anything. TA's were heaven sent in terms of actually teaching & helping you understand the material. However, her extra credit point system is incredible, would've not passed w/o it. Content itself was interesting. 6/10
Dr. Grooms is a great professor and lecturer! You should attend every class and participate in the in-class activities/assignments to gain attendance and extra credit points. The practice exams posted on Canvas and supplemental instruction reviews are helpful for exam preparation. Overall, Dr. Grooms makes economics fun and relatable!
Dr. Grooms will often use verbose terms to describe simple concepts. the lectures are good and useful but sometimes you can get flooded with everything she is talking about and it can get hard to follow. The homework is sometimes challenging, but the tests are much easier. There are fun in-class kahoots to keep you engaged.
She breaks down economics into easy to understand terms. The inclass Kahoots keep me engaged. Although attendance is not mandatory you need kahoot points to pass the class. Overall very good prof for teaching a difficult material. Material is very hard tho so make sure to attend every lecture and pay attention and actually do the hw so you learn.
Tests are pretty easy. Have to go to class until you get enough points to get 100% participation.
She was a super fun and kind professor. Her lectures were heavy on jokes and videos which made the class enjoyable, but hard to learn from. However, she provided an amazing textbook and tons of practice problems so I did extremely well. The TAs were also nice and would respond fast to any emails.
Dr. Grooms is very passionate about statistics, however to a fault with her teaching topics that are simple in practice, but using grad school level vocabulary. Beware that the class is on a ranked curve so you won't know what your final grade is in the course until it's over, with the curve being able to hurt your raw average.
This class is pretty easy to get an A in. The final is optional, and I'm pretty sure your lowest test grade gets dropped if you decide to take it. There are so many points and extra points that you can get in order to receive an A. The lectures are also pretty fun, and while it may be hard, paying attention to lecture basically earns you an A.
ECO329 is a tedious class, but Dr. Grooms made it easy. Weekly problem sets are tricky but help you understand lecture info. 2 heavily weighted midterms + final--not difficult if you study. Textbook reading is "required," but Grooms covers all the info in lectures. Study lectures, problem sets, and practice tests and getting an A isn't difficult.
I couldn't recommend Dr. Grooms enough for Micro! She made the material easy and super interesting, and her interactive lectures made me want to come to class. Textbook readings are necessary but light, weekly assignments are easy and bolster understanding, and 3 tests are not difficult if you study. Show up, do the work, and you'll get an A!
Very charismatic professor and lectures were ok, but both the lectures and textbook were relatively unhelpful with doing the problem sets. Both generally went over broader ideas of the various concepts, but didn't offer much insight on how to apply them. That being said, as long as you have a good idea of how to apply them by midterms, you'll be OK
She goes by very fast and often her powerpoints can get confusing. Tests are often and kind of hard. You read about 2 chapters per week and move quite fast, so plan to read ahead. The only other assignments for your grade are Kahoots and InQuizitives which don't do much for you.
Class consists of 3 tests, 15 homeworks (drops 3 and can get a 100 easily), and in class work. Lectures are okay, I don't really listen, but in class work is easy and helps understanding. Just read the textbook and study and you'll do well. Definitely take!
So many ways to get your grade up. Just by showing up and doing all the in-class Kahoots you can get extra credit and one test can be replaced. The chapter readings are not that long and you can skip through a lot of it. Her tests are pretty easy. Lectures can be boring sometimes but not bad at all.
The content of the material wasn't too confusing, but I had to do a majority of the learning in my own time. The grade/point system is confusing, and this is very (in-person, on-paper) test heavy. Attendance is mandatory and there are daily grades based on kahoots/check-ins. More of a problem with the class structure, not the professor.
An easy class and it is hard to get anything but an A. Tests are not hard in any way. Participation is a part of the grade, but you can get full credit for that by attending about half the lectures. She makes the lectures pretty fun with lots of good examples.
Professor Grooms was great, her lectures were engaging and it's very easy to gain points by doing the in-class Kahoots and TPS's. Overall a low stress class, and easy to learn the material if you do the work she provides. The three tests were slightly difficult but there is so much material given to prepare, so put in the time and it's an easy A.
She moves fast and her lectures don't cover all the material, attendance is mandatory to a certain degree, the only fault of the class is the practice problems provided are made with low effort.
Her lectures are hard to keep up with. Often, within the lectures, her slide show is filled with more memes than actual material leading you to become less informed about the expected material. Additionally, her in-person attendance questions are nothing like the test and extremely easy.
Overall very easy class with a good professor. Attendance isn't formally graded but there are many simple assignments required in lectures which makes attendance essentially mandatory. Test's are fairly easy if you put some time into studying, and grading policy is pretty lenient.
Attendance grade is easy and you can get extra credit by just doing Kahoots/TPS. Tests are easy especially if you grind Sample Test problems she gives with each chapter module. Overall, no stress and easy class with optional Final.
Really Easy, One droppable test for a cumulative final. As long as you study a few hours per week or cram the night before, it should be fine. Extra credit based on class participation on Kahoots and such. Just a bit boring since all slides.
She has a points system that makes it really easy to get an A and her tests aren't hard. She gives you sample questions and Kahoots that prepare you well & she also tries to make lectures fun. LIVE LAUGH LOVE GROOMS
I LOVED Dr. Grooms! She was a fantastic professor, and her lectures were so engaging. She incorporates quizzes and kahoots into the lesson, which helps you learn. The tests could be difficult, but studying a few days before is a great way to get an A. I would 100% take Dr. Grooms again.
Like others have said there were too many memes/videos/not actual course content in the slides and too much time was wasted. I found myself self studying a lot to try and understand the concepts well and I still couldn't get the grades I wanted.
bad explainer, good system to get easy grade. just show up to class and read the textbook beforehand and it's an easy class.
Dr. Grooms is a great professor! Her lectures are SO engaging, and if you miss a few lectures it's fine. The final exam is optional (as long as you take all three of the midterms), and the midterms are pretty easy to do well on as long as you are reading the material and attending lectures pretty regularly. She made me enjoy learning about econ.
You earn points from various categories, up to 1000. Class attendance is key for in-class assignments, which are easy with Kahoots and Google Forms (credit for wrong answers). Attendance isn't enforced. Tests make up about 700 points. Extra credit (~20 points) is available, and textbook feels excessive since you can study from lectures/Kahoot.
Lectures were very engaging and you are given credit for in-class assignments (kahoots and google forms) even when you get the answer wrong. Tests are easy and straightforward if you do the readings or attend the lectures and study the day before.
Extra credit saved me ngl. She's really engaging, but I would read the textbooks before the tests. TA's were super helpful with the email. All the grades are easy to get full points but the tests are weighted heavy. Make sure to do really good on 2/3 of them so you dont have to take the final.
Just such a kind and caring teacher who wants all her students to get an A. Really clear and easy to understand content, and doing the in-class work and using the resources like inquizitive, past test questions, and smark work help a ton. Great professor!!
No attendance but had in class participation points so you still have to show up to most classes. Lectures were engaging with Kahoots and collaborative google forms! Tests were fairly easy and she provides 3 free skip questions which makes getting A's on exams very doable.
In class participation points, 3 free skip questions on exams, significant extra credit/in class participation point opportunities. Once you get all the required points, attendance technically isn't graded anymore. Her lectures are relatively engaging, and she's really sweet.
Great professor. 3 exams (optional final), inquizitives, and class participation make your grade (if you try, you'll get all the points you need by October). Engaging lectures that are best used to cement what you read in the textbook. Overall, decent class and a solid A if you put effort in!
I was nervous for this class, as it didn't fall near my field of study but Dr. Grooms was great. Class is extremely well-organized and balanced, which takes much of the stress away. Weekly online quizzes, with the lowest three dropped. Three exams, all mostly lecture-based but textbook readings highly recommended. Earning an A is very achievable.
Dr. Grooms was fantastic! Tests are multiple choice (you can skip 3 questions) and the final is optional. We also earned participation credit by playing Kahoots, and you can earn extra credit once you get a certain number of participation points. She plays pop music before class and stops during lecture to take questions. Definitely recommend!
The tests are so hard and she speeds through the content- so many people in the class too.
The class is extremely straightforward so as long as you don't throw, you can get an A. The extra credit is very generous as well.
The assignments, lectures, and tests are all made for an easy A, as well as a decent understanding of the course. Dr. Grooms is a great lecturer who actively invites students to participate. Many worry about the in-class points, but they are very frequent, so there should be absolutely no worries in getting enough points.
Lectures are important because she gives graded Kahoots and quizzes in class. Her lectures are hard to understand, so it's important you read and take notes off of the textbook. The test questions are pretty similar to those given in the review and textbook. She does give extra credit and is lenient on assignment grades (Kahoots and quizzes).
Professor Grooms is awesome, the only teacher I had where I would leave lectures having learned something every single time. The midterms are almost identical to the practice questions provided, and the class is not hard to keep up with if you do the (almost fun) textbook readings and inquisitives. Can't recommend the class enough.
she made micro super interesting and explained things so well! this is probably my favorite class of all time and the tests were straight forward, just pay attention in class or read the textbook and do the practice problems. she is so fair and explains stuff in an easily digestable way.
Love the format of this class. It is extremely easy to pass this class as there is built in leniency into her curriculum. Do the inquisitives, showup to class to get points (such as doing kahoots/google forms), and then all you have to do is know the material well enough to do well on the 3 midterms (if not you can take a final to drop your lowest)
Professor Grooms was an excellent lecturer. Attendance was tracked through Kahoots! and Think-Pair-Share Google Forms. Weekly InQuisitives and textbook readings were useful, especially for exams, which were aligned with practice questions. She sometimes moves through lectures quickly, so independent review is important.
Dr. Grooms breaks concepts down to make them easily digestible in class. Attendance is done through Kahoots and Google Forms during class, but if you do well enough, you can afford to skip class later in the semester with no cost to your grade. The practice tests are pretty much the real tests with different numbers, so do them.
Take her over the other profs. Overall very easy tests, with the exception of the 2nd test which I found hard. Barely listened in class and still managed to get a high A in the class. Inquisitives are light and attendance is pretty lax policy (class is skippable towards the end if you kept up with attendance). Gives a study guide w/ topics. take he
There's a lot of built-in flexibility, like dropping lowest scores, extra credit etc. There were lots of kahoots and in-class activities, but you only needed to complete about half of them to get full points on that category, so you could miss quite a few classes. Exams were straightforward and a lot of material was offered for preparation.
Class was super easy, attendance is mandatory for the in class participation points that are apart of your grade but once you max those out you don't have to go if you don't want to. The lectures themselves were pretty engaging especially for a 3:30-5:30 class. Homework was on inquisitive so it was super easy, and you got 3 skips on each exam.
Weekly quizzes, three exams and one optional final. If you read textbook and complete the quizzes on your own you should be fine, but take advantage of office hours and study in advance for the exams.
Her lectures were great and engaging. However, the Inquizitive assignments were frustrating because each question had multiple parts, and a single mistake would cause the entire question to be marked wrong, and lower your grade a lot. Personally, I learned more from reading textbooks alone instead of this annoying software.
reads off slides, dull lectures, tougher class overall.
Grooms was a good lecturer and did a good job explaining the core concepts of economics. The class's grading structure is very forgiving, allowing for lots of learning and rewarding those who intentionally study. The courseload is mild but will keep you busy.
Great professor. Makes the lectures engaging and easy to understand. Tests can be hard but final replaces your lowest grade. Easy class.
If you dont get an A in this class, then its definitely on you because Grooms makes learning very engaging and digestible. She makes material very easy to understand and she is a great lecturer. The kahoots and homeworks help. She is awesome and the exams are very similar to the homeworks.
Grooms made the lectures very interactive, a class I enjoyed attending. The tests aren't too difficult but you need to study to succeed in the class!
Professor Grooms knows her stuff but lectures are very fast-paced and she just reads off the slides. It's very easy to get a good grade in the class. V ery soft introduction to R. Problem sets can be somewhat difficult. The TAs and SIs are great!!!! Utilize your resources and you will do great, if you don't you will fail.
Honestly, she is very good at being an economist, the thing is that she talks like she is talking to other economist, instead of just students that took an intro course before this. You will definitely need to do a lot of online studying/research to understand the ideas and keep up. Its hard ngl.
she just reads off slides, made simple concepts challenging to understand
She reads off the slides, and makes concepts more complex than they need to be. She is also not an understanding teacher. She is a bot. Not hard class tbh gpa factory will be your best friend, but she just sucks at explaining statistical concepts in normal words.
While she kinda reads off the slides and things aren't the easiest to understand, there are resources provided to make the class material understandable. The class is only difficult because of how fast it is, you really need to attend lecture or read. The class is easier than the textbook, do textbook practice and attend SI and you'll be fine.
Take Professor Grooms when you have the chance to. Statistics is known to be a tough course, but if you skim the textbook before lectures, you'll be fine. Her grading policy also allows a lot of room for mistakes and she encourages group work during lecture. Love her!
Professor just reads off slideshow all day. Does not do practice problems to explain concepts. Adds nothing to lectures, yet participation is mandatory.
Professor just reads off the slides, and can't explain concepts in a digestible way. I had to rely on GPA factory in order to teach me the concepts, and does a significantly better job at walking through concepts and problems.
Basically, do the work and you'll be fine. Study and you'll be fine. Easier if you took Macro in high school. Tries to make class fun. Nothing really special, but it's a good course if you need the credit.
she does not care about her students. Tests are twice harder than all the homework. Do not take her. You will have to study and learn everything yourself!!!!
Dr. Grooms is a good lecturer, but the lectures are assignment/heavy. It's an okay class, but I would recommend Geerling over Grooms for 304K since his exams are easier.
She reads off of confusing powerpoints and does not teach any other way. How well you do in this class is dependent on how much effort outside of class you spend trying to understand the material since her lectures are incredibly confusing.
lectures are long and boring but it's not hard to get an A in the class. max out all your points in hw/other assignments and it's easy. gpa factory helped a lot but it's expensive. her exams are a bit easier than other professors like abrevaya and straight forward. she is very fair!
Dr.Grooms is a great professor, however her class can be boring due to her primarily reading off the slides. Exams were about half MCQ, half FRQ with an EC equation. Attendance graded through an accumulation of Kahoot points. You need a 60% to get full credit on problem sets. In my opinion, she's an easy eco stats prof and clearly cared about us.
Easy class if you use GPA factory tutoring. the notation for some of the math formulas can be tricky but GPA factory guarantees a good grade on the tests which is all you need. Weekly problem sets can be tricky sometimes but no big deal.
Her lectures are just her reading every single word from the slides - no point going after you get participation points. Exams are braindead easy (easier than problem sets). Best advice is to self study from the slides.
Grooms made the tests very reasonable, and the kahoots keep you pretty engaged in class. No surprise questions on exams and there's an extra credit question on each.
Very boring lectures, but you need to attend most of them for max Kahoot points. Don't waste your team reading the textbook; only self-study using the sides (which are very dense). Do well on all of the midterms so you can bypass the final, which is considerably more difficult than any of the midterms (plus you can go home early).
There's kind of a lot of work. I mean the in-class kahoots are awesome and fun but the textbook assignemnts where you get one wrong and you gotta redo the whole thing can be a bit time-consuming. Overall incredible and funny professor.
She's second to none for 304K, didn't struggle at all with her as my teacher. Exams are a big part of the grade but they're practically common sense. I'd recommend reading the book and participating in class to really get an A.
Made a class I expected to be very dense and hard to be fun. Content can be a bit hard at times (requiring further study after class to understand thoroughly). She keeps attendance through a point system but a lot is extra credit so you can miss a good 1/3 of classes without affecting your grade (considering you catch up on content).
Dr. Grooms is an amazing professor. She really wants everyone to succeed. I had her for both Eco 402K and Eco 329 and would definitely recommend her. Show up to class, pay attention, do the kahoots and homeworks, and you will get an A.
The lectures tend to go over easier/simplified versions of the material on the inquizitives and exams. There are lots of kahoots and google forms that you'll need to do every lecture, so it's important that you don't make skipping class a habit.
Her lecturing is really not that good, the textbook is relatively helpful but the class is very easy.
Attendance technically isnt mandatory no one is checking but there are Kahoots and checks during the lectures. The lectures are just the textbooks simplified, your only hw is an inquisitive every week, 0 quizzes 3 midterms that are harder than they look. Do not underestimate the tests because of the simple lectures. She is really nice and funny.
If you keep up with the Inquizitives this should be an easy class. Grooms is very engaging and her lectures are kinda oversimplified at times but she's great overall. If you have her for 304k you'll be in good hands.
Grooms was a very interesting professor, and the subject itself is pretty easy. Just stay on top of the assignments and go to class, and ur chilling.
Amazing prof, lectures are clear and cover all content for tests. didnt use textbook and barely paid attention in class after the first exam but slides and practice problems are your best resources. A lot of points from attendance but once you hit the point cap for it you dont have to go. Tests are easy if you study. Only one homework quiz a week.
LOVE LOVE LOVE professor Grooms. Made economics, a previously dreaded topic, very engaging. Exams are super straightforward and she provides so much review content. Grading point system is generous, you only have to attend 1/2 the lectures but you'll want to attend more. Explains concepts very well and provides several real-world examples.
Dr. Grooms was sweet in my limited interactions with her in a ~500-person class. She's relatively accommodating and tries her best to be entertaining in a very... "millennial" way. The tests do take some locked-in studying, but nothing in the class is overwhelmingly difficult. Class materials are all online, and help is surprisingly accessible.
Professor Grooms is really nice but I don't think I learned a single thing from the lectures. Everything was self taught. It isn't a hard class though and I would take it with her because I have heard other teachers are worse. Microecon should just not be taught in a 1000+ person class.
The lectures don't really teach you much and don't relate to what's on the exams. You have to learn basically all of it yourself. She's nice though
Content itself isn't too difficult but can be when your lecture is 500 people. Grooms did the best she could but it's just hard to stay engaged in that kind of environment, so expect the class to be mainly self taught. However, resources are easily accessible and grading expectations are generally clear. Show up for the participation but study.
Prof Grooms is amazing and always kind but this class is so misleading. If you have taken econ before and done well, you should breeze through, BUT an intro class like this should not be taught in a class this big bc it is all self-taught. Heads up: the averages for the tests have ranged from a C (75) to a B- (83).
This was my favorite class this semester (as someone who has never taken econ). Professor Grooms made every lecture engaging and entertaining. As long as you take notes you'll be fine. You get up to 2 extra grade points just for participating in the class kahoots/learning checks. Also, the weekly once HW assignments are pretty easy and helpful.
Professors Grooms is a great professor and is very engaging. The tests can be somewhat challenging (the averages were high Cs or low Bs) but there is extra credit opportunities and you can skip 2 questions for each test. The final exam can also replace your lowest test grade. She also gives lots of studying resources to use. Highly recommend her!
-Three major tests that are ~70% of the grade, the rest is participation with small extra credit -Large lecture halls with low levels of individual attention/engagement -Mostly self-taught -Grooms was a good professor who made the content engaging -Moderate difficulty, be familiar with the theory and the application behind the concepts
Exams are HARD and worth a lot. There are 3 midterms (35 mcq & 5 sa) and optional final. The textbook helps A LOT when learning the material. She doesn't offer a lot of extra credit (only 2pts added to final grade). I have heard that she is the better prof compared to the other econ profs. I recommend you take this credit at a community college.
Exams are worth 72% of your final grade. That is what made this class tough. The lecture hall is huge, and it's important to do the textbook reading beforehand and stay engaged during the lecture, which is hard to do in such a large classroom. Professor Grooms is very kind, but she moves quickly through the material and gives zero extra points.
Honestly this class was really easy if you stay focused. Do the readings beforehand and you'll be fine. It moves pretty quick but it's manageable. She offered an optional final exam if you took the first three exams which was really great. (You can still take the final and replace one exam grade w that grade) She's really nice and quirky.
Very passionate about the course. The class is test heavy so you must study the concepts but the exams are all outlined by chapter.
Great professor, explains well. 3 in class exams, with an optional final to replace the lowest grade. Not reading heavy, but the textbook WILL carry your sem. 10' per chapter and boom easy A. 2% extra cred can be gained easily though attendance which is veryy lenient. TA's are easy to reach and answer quick. I would take this again.
Take Dr. Grooms! You do need to go to a good amount of classes to get in-class points. Make sure you do the readings because the lectures supplement them, and the lectures alone will not do anything. Just do well on exams so you don't have to take the optional final. Class is super easy and she is so sweet!
While she is a nice teacher, she does not remotely prepare you for a good grade on the exams. I used all of the very few resources we were given and did awful on the exams. I was certain I had done well multiple times and still somehow received extremely low grades. This was not just me but a common issue. Avoid class it's a waste of time.
Freest class I've ever taken including high school. Just don't be a bum and you should be fine. Some concepts are questionable if you think about it for more than like 2 seconds, but it's because they require more advanced economics.
If you're not already familiar with the basic concepts of Econ, definitely read the textbook before every lecture in order to do good on the Kahoots. The tests are fair & as long as you read the textbook and complete the practice problems for each chapter. You can afford to do bad on 1 test & take the final to replace that grade.
As long as you hold yourself accountable & keep up with the lectures weekly, this class is honestly light work. I ended procrastinating severely, which is why I had to put extra effort into studying for her exams. You do have to attend lecture in order to get participation points from the Kahoots & TPS. Definitely worth taking Grooms.
I enjoyed Intro to Micro with Grooms. Definitely a class you will need to attend as there are in class points via Kahoot (super easy to get full credit, you only need 160 and there are about 300 total points) First test is pretty light but they definitely get harder, just study and you'll be find. Good lectures and only one assignment each week
Dr Grooms is a great professor; her lessons were engaging and easy to follow. Light workload that is easily manageable. As long as you study for the tests, you should be getting an A.
Grooms is great! She's a really good lecturer and seems to genuinely care about what she does. She made class fun and interactive. Be warned, definitely need to read the textbook because lecture/slides don't go into a ton of detail, and some topics are only talked about in the book. Tests were pretty easy if you attended class in my opinion.
