Very interesting teacher. Always enjoyed going to class. Also very fair, organized and punctual. Would highly recommend her.
Very good professor, very good at helping students individually. One of the best teachers I ever had.

This professor demands too much for research methods class in too little of time. Rather than presenting us with information up front she waits until the last minute to provide the materials needed and then expects it to be turned in 4 days later!!!!
I liked her a lot. There was a lot of work crammed into a short period of time, but then again, I was warned not to take research methods in the summer, but I still got an A. She makes a boring class interesting and does her best to help.
Not a good Psychobiology professor. Posts partial notes online, but speaks so quickly- you're lucky to be able to fill in the blanks. Notes do not match book and are not effective for learning. Lecture & Notes are dumbed down; tests are extremely difficult. I withdrew and will re-take w/ Eisler.
Prof. Hooper does an excellent job at explaining difficult and confusing material. She is very enthusiastic about it and is very helpful in class. Has lots of assignments but they aren't that hard.
Excellent! She is one of the best professors I have ever had. She is a great lecturer. Very organized. Gives you guided notes, which help you to retain information and learn a lot of material. Definitely a great professor. Highly recommend.
Prof Hooper is very helpful and is a very good lecturer. She made the class fun and extremely interesting. Highly recommended - note there were quite a few assignments but they were not hard. Test materials come from lecture notes book was not used much. Most students had an A - B+ average.
I loved having her as a professor. The subject matter was facinating and she presents it in a manner that makes it easy to understand. You do have to take notes and study a fair amount, but it is worth it.
DONT take in summer. and you will be alright. Tests aren't bad, lot of homework that takes a lot of time. If you take in summ u will be overwhelmed. unless like a lot of people not your 1st time takn it anyway. print out everything and be ready to do fill in blank notes.gives Xtra crdt. organized, on time, nice, e-mails u back.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IN THE SUMMER. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. YOU WILL HAVE TO SEARCH FAR AND WIDE TO FIND A PROFESSOR THIS CONFUSING. THIS WOMEN GIVES YOU ASSIGNMENTS, DOESN'T EXPLAIN ANY OF THE ASSIGNEMENTS, AND GRADES YOU ON INFORMATION THAT WAS NOT PROPERLY EXPLAINED. SHE CLAIMS TO BE A PSYCHIC AND A HANDWRITING EXPERT.
Professor Hooper is a WONDERFUL instructor. She explains everything in a fast manner, yes, but the Summer Research Methods course is a FAST CLASS, 4 months worth crammed into 6 weeks! Pay close attention to your due dates and assigments. She emails back and is helpful if you don't understand. If your'e easily overwhelmed, take this in the fall!
This professor is not clear at all on her material, she was not very helpful and I learned nothing in that class. She rushed through the material and required us to do an experiment in the class as opposed to Dr. Borsky that says an experiment shouldnt be rushed in 6 weeks. thumbs down for hooper
This is the worst instructor I have ever taken. Assignments are given without an explanation of how to actually do the assignment. Tests are extremely difficult. This is a self- taught class with this instuctor. She treats students as if they are ignorant. If you're smart you'll take the hint, and take another instructor.
She was not very good at explaining her material, the coursework was designed by her and to her, I wouldnt recommend ANYONE take her.
She gives a lot of assignments, but her tests aren't that hard if you study. If you actually attend class, take notes, and put effort into the assignments, you can make an A. I did!
This "professor" does not explain coursework clearly, doesn't have the time to answer questions clearly, and wants you to figure out the work yourself, without explaning anything to you. Yes she emails you back, saying to figure it out or talk to your classmates. Don't take her, especially in the summer.
Fabulous teacher who loves the material and explains it well and with enthusiasm. The material is extremely difficult and a lot to take in. She answered every single question in class and was never in a rush to finish the lectures. Notes were provided on Blackboard.
I think this professor was great. She clearly explained ideas, gave pleanty of extra credit, and if you did an assignment totally wrong, she would it explain it again and let you redue it. I took her over the summer and got a high A without studying. Just go to class and youll do fine.
Prof. Hooper has great lectures and an outline is made for each section. Her tests are extreamely difficult though. The questions are all multiple choice and are situational questions (4 tests). Def. study hard and use the textbook.
Terrible Professor... She does not explain things very well, and she is not good about answering questions... Sometimes she seems doubtful of the material... I know more about her kids and family then psych w/o the text. Take the other guy...
If you attend class then you will do well. She gives you notes but you need to finish filling them out. Mainly takes the test questions for that. She does give extra credit.
shes very very sweet and funny. gives extra credit and the exams arent tricky, as long as you pay attention. i hardly ever attend her class and i still have made all A's and high B's on the exam.
She is a really sweet professor. The outlines she gives are motivators to go to class. The exams are based on the sample tests, outline notes and somewhat from the text. Attendance is not mandatory. I would definitely recommend this teacher
Professor Hooper is very helpful when it comes to explaining things. She will explain it until you get it! 4 exams..that's it!
She is annoying, and not helpful. She does give extra Credit, but expects too much!
PROS: Attendance not mandatory. Gives extra credit. Mildly interesting lectures. Drops difficult questions from exams. CONS: Fill-in-the-blank notes. Difficult material.
She makes her lectures somewhat interactive and shows a lot of videos. She is a good teacher if you can memorize things from just hearing them. Im not so lucky so i found myself defining every term in the book, which she bases all her lectures on. Just keep up with reading and go to class.
LOTS OF WORK, attend every class, homework every week, explains things until it is ingrained in your head. Final research paper is very easy as long as you do the assignments. Exams are from book and notes, loved her class and you can tell she really wanted you to learn this stuff. this is how every professor should teach!!!!
Lots of work. Come to class everyday, do all the assignments, and do the research paper. Be careful of plagerism. She offers extra credit at the end of the year. Good class. I learned a lot.
Very good at explaning things. There are assignments due every week, which sucks but it really does help you understand better. There is a midterm and a final exam, both which are very easy. I got A's on both and didn't really study. Also, there is a major research paper due, but she lets you redo it if you get a bad grade and avgs the 2.
Very tough professor but also very good at what she does. If you truly want to get as much knowledge as possible out of a course take her. If you are looking for an easy class to cost through, this is not the professor for you.
Prof. Hooper is great! The class is kinda hard, but it's supposed to be. If you go to class every time then you'll be okay. Make sure you start the paper ahead of time. She's very helpful and answers questions and emails quickly. If you study for the tests they aren't hard.
easy class, experiment is done as a class, hw is not hard and she is very nice and very helpful.
For a "passionate" teacher, she has a funny way of showing it. She teaches off the PowerPoint..so I'd rather study by myself... Plus I e-mailed her twice for help...never got a response... I get that she's hard I understand that...but you don't have to be so ICE COLD about it... If I can get a C in this class, I'd be happy...
Katherine Hooper truely is a wealth of knowledge. She has a great understading of the subjects she teaches. (I have taken her twice) If you are a serious student you will walk away with new knowledge on a daily bases. ***read the text and study for the exams, you CANNOT wing her classes***
Exam questions (and they're hard!) come from the test bank that came with her teacher's textbook. Her Power Points touch on the textbook but don't really help. She did not allow us answers to the exams--we had to find them ourselves! Clicker required for scant extra credit. Weekly quizzes. The textbook taught us-not her. Yuck!
This class would not have been so horrible if it weren't for the teacher's attitude. She seemed annoyed during most classes. Attendence was mandatory. During a 6 week course, the teacher pretty much said if you miss one class then you fail. And if you do miss a class you will have an assignment to do, regardless of the situation.
Professor Hooper is great! i went into her class scared but after her first test i learned what to study and its been easy since then. she is helpful if you make the effort and go to her office hours other than that you are on your own though. her homework assignments are not bad at all because you get a day off of class to do them.
SO boring. I fall asleep in her class pretty much every day. She posts powerpoints. There are online homework assignments where you watch videos and take a quiz. They are easy. So far we've had one extra credit opportunity. Her tests are pretty hard for an intro class, but read the powerpoints and the book and you should be fine!
AVOID this professor at any cost. I have never hated a teacher before, she was the first. All the exam questions come from textbook exam bank. Her notes are confusing and seem like they were meant for Grad students.
People have rated her too harsh, her class isn't bad. She is nice, her tests are somewhat challenging - but to an appropriate level. She loves what she does which makes the material more entertaining; she loves her illusions. If you need human sensory perception or psychobio her and Lange are both great teachers.
Decent professor. Exams were difficult, but she offers a replacement exam at the end. Online quizzes were easy, just stay on top of them. You must have the book, as some test questions were not discussed in class.
Nice teacher. Has a lot of info to tell. tests are a little difficult if you dont read or pay attention in class. ive heard there are better psych professors so i would probably choose a different one
do not take this teacher. her tests are EXTREMELY HARD! i went to every lecture and studied alot, still ended up with a C. It is just tooo much information in one semester.
Hard class but not impossible. ALOT of work & she expects too much. She thinks it's THE most important class and seems to take it very personal. She deducts 2 points from final grade for every abscense, research paper is 20% of grade, tests are not too terrible if you study. She isnt very helpful if you dont understand something but gives ex credit
She is a great teacher, really down to earth- very personable even in a large lecture class. She expects you to study the notes and read the book, and you need to in order to do well. There are 4 tests, and she puts all the material online. Fun class and allows a lot of discussion.
Great teacher, really down to earth- very personable even in a large lecture class. She expects you to study the notes and read the book, and you need to in order to do well. There are 4 tests, and she puts all the material online. Fun class and allows a lot of discussion.
This teacher is just horrible i think. she was so unclear as to what she wanted us to study, and her tests were extremely hard. she would have 2/4 answers on multiple choice that could possibly be right ones. I feel like she tried to trick us on the tests. She was just a down right horrible teacher Do NOT take this teacher!
The most disorganized teacher I've ever had! Everything was stressful because she kept forgeting things and doing things last minute. She tries to make students attend to details when she constantly fails to do so herself. Nearly everything in this class was group work, (fewer papers to grade) and she was still a mess! Take someone else!
She was never prepared for class. She read straight off of the powerpoints. Not only was she rude to students, she was rude to some students in a class who have disabilities (registered at the DRC and everything). She is not up to date on research or her own classes. Really, it is a shame that UNF has such a low quality professor.
Dr. Hooper is unprepared for class, is unknowledgeable to the point where if you ask a question she will answer it and then tell you what she said was wrong, she will then read a side and re-answer a question. She has no idea what she assigns and no clue what is on her tests because she gets the questions from...?
this was a repeat course(had it with another professor online and it was a disaster) very helpful. easy class. pay attention during notes. don't wait to the last minute to start assignments. they're not difficult but they do take time.
Completely unorganized. Comes to class unprepared. Tests horrible due to her not actually knowing the material herself. Can't answer questions to save her life. Make me want to leave the psych major. Also relies on group work and online quizzes because she is too lazy to teach.
High enegy when lecturing. Sometimes makes clear points and other times unclear. Not a bad teacher, but not a great teacher. Talks really fast and questions in the assignment are tricky. Fair Grading and does show effort to answer questions
Intro to psych i thought was supposed to be interesting and such, but the professor has a hard time answering questions with clarity. Exams are extremely hard, need to read everything in the book to get a decent grade. Nice professor but it's a hard class. I'm struggling to pass.
Professor Hooper is a total joke! Don't ask questions if you are expecting to get an answer. The only good thing about asking questions is she might give extra credit if you research and find the answer yourself. Her tests are extremely hard and so are the assignments. If you don't read your text, notes, and outside sources. you will not get a A
This class has to be one of the hardest I have ever taken. Her tests are 60 questions in 60 minutes. No time to decipher her difficult questions. Not to mention discussion after discussion. She thinks that her class is the most important and you should devote all of your time to it. AVOID AVOID AVOID
Class is impossible. I actually studied and read all the chapters and I still couldn't pass. 60 questions in 60 minutes is ridiculous, no one can learn like that. I asked her for advice and she said that you need to read each chapter 4 times....
STAY AWAY! please, please, please.... don't ever take this professor... she is ridiculous!!!!!!!! I want to help other students not make the same mistake I did, by taking her. I have never had a professor this horrible and rude before... ever! I am in the process now of reporting her. DO NOT even try to take her. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND GPA!
Neuropsychology is very hard. She is passionate about this. You must take great notes, read the book and be at every class. I only did not do well cause it is such hard material. She responds quickly to e-mails and will meet with you anytime to help. All test are MC. and final is optional. Gives lots of extra credit with 15 points max given.
You must read the book. She responds quickly to e-mails and will meet with you anytime to help. All test are MC. and final is optional. If you participate in online discussions you will get extra credit. God online class if you have no other choice. Do your wiki early and will get extra credit.
She responds quickly to e-mails and will meet with you anytime to help. All test are MC and final is optional. she offers this as a hybrid class, so attendance is not mandatory except for test. It is easier for those who do go to class. she provides notes with very detailed directions.
Teacher was horrible. took this online. it takes about a week for a responding email. Test do not come from book or notes. she pulls questions out of the air.Horrible teacher
Shes nice but this is to much information for such a short time. Take it if you love reading a chapter a night.
I took her for an online psychobiology class. Watched every lecture, read the book, did all her activities, and nearly failed the class. I spent DAYS working for this class and it was awful. I learned next to nothing and questions were obscure and impossible to prepare for. Terrible at responding, don't bother being employed while in her class.
Intro to Psych requires a lot of studying, but class is not to hard. 4 main tests and an OPTIONAL final. 4 easy online open book quizzes. Dont need to show up to class in order to pass if you just study the book. Responds to emails quickly and gets grades in quickly. Very nice woman and Pretty Good class!
So awful I won't be able to describe completely. Prides herself on criticism. Don't bother asking her how to fix anything. She'll just tell you how wrong it is, but not how to fix it. Very rude. You can tell by the way her class is set up on BB that she loves the smell of her own sh*t. I am waiting until the end of the semester to report her.
This class was really hard , there is discussion board, wiki and 4 exams. The wiki and discussion board are easy but, the tests are hard . The highest grade in our class was a 75 lol . Btw I took this online . I didn't study ,maybe I should have but, it's time consuming, you have to study 13 hours a week to understand the material .
Just read the wiki, chapters, and watch the videos and you will pass the class with an a . She isnt that hard believe me.
Test questions mostly came from the homework assignments and the online book website which we didn't use at all. If you are 1 point away from the next letter grade she will not give you that point no matter how hard you tried your best in her class. I would not advise taking her class unless you have time to read the chapters more than once.
If you're not lazy & you want to learn, she's great! Just stay on top of the due dates. I have an A so far. I really do look forward to coming to class even if it's at 9:00 am in the summer. Assignments are due once or twice a week, there's two tests and a paper. Moderate group work. Very informative class and overall a good challenge.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS if you are interested in maintaining your GPA. Trick questions on tests and quizzes. I'm a good student (3.75 GPA) and I've been making myself crazy all semester just to get a "C". It's really not worth it. Assignments and tests don't reflect the amount of material you learned Take Animal Behavior.
Currently in her class, (not online). Simply, Human Sensory Perception is one of those classes were it's fairly easy to earn a B, but extremely difficult to earn an A. (not impossible). With her exams, you have to dissect that book inside and out to get a good grade. Attend class! Her online class is supposedly harder, so I can't judge how that is.
She is very clear that this is not an easy from the beginning. I am a senior and I think this class was way too time consuming. I have a C because the first exam was horrible. Since then I had a steady 82 on the exams and that was after studying the hw, outlines, ch. quizzes religiously. The time for a B in this class is not worth it.
This professor is very hard. There is a ton of work that must be completed outside of class that takes multiple hours a day. Be prepared to listen in every lectures and do tons of outside work. Hooper is nice, but no joke.
Professor Hooper is a good Professor. She is very clear about what she wants and what she expects. It is VERY important to read the chapters. She is a very cool teacher.
DO NOT TAKE HER FOR SUMMER. There is WAY too much information to fit into such a small amount of time. Your life will be consumed by this course just to MAYBE pass. she is very difficult and you MUST read the book and put HOURS into this class
She is someone who I feel during the year could probably make as a very good teacher but during the summer she is horrible. She gives way to much information to learn has no care to assist you and her tests are based off of none of her notes or the book (kind of unexplained where it comes from).
Liked the class a lot. There is a lot of reading involved if you want to get a good grade. Tests are essential and you need to read in order to pass, lots of information but Dr. Hooper is always available for help when I have sought it out. Must be a competent student to pass this course
Exams are HARD! Proctored exams that cost 10$ each from home (4 exams total). A LOT of extra credit is offered over 20 points. 4 assignments total, group wiki project, DQ's and wiki discussion every week 3 post a week. optional final to replace lowest test score. class can still be passed with a B even when you get a D on every exam.
Prof. Hoooper is amazing! She lays out everything in the syllabus that you need to do in order to pass. This is not an easy class at all. Test are multiple choice but very hard if you don't study. Discussions, Assignments, and a Wiki are what helped my grade. I worked really hard and got a B. You'll learn a lot though so I definitely recommend her.
Lectures aren't anything great but are enjoyable. You need to come to class every single day. If you skip 2 or more you probably wont pass considering you need a B or higher. There's weekly assignments that will take you roughly 2-3 hours on average. Definitely need to be willing to work for your grade. Tests aren't hard but not easy either.
Prof. Hooper is a great teacher! The course material is pretty straightforward. Two exams, weekly BB assignments and a research paper, which she incorporates specific sections in class to go over, so that you are prepared to write the paper when it is due. I would definitely take her again! Also, she will let you bring kids to class if you need to.
The material in the class is tough, but Prof. Hooper makes it interesting to learn. There are 4 exams and an optional final, which are hard, but she gives you a chance to earn points back with lots of extra credit. Weekly assignment on BB are reading the chapter & watching short videos, with multiple choice questions and some short write-ups.
Pro. Hooper is great. The class itself is hard but she is a great teacher. She gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. There is no reason you should fail the class. Its a hard A if you get it . Class is a lot of work but I learned a lot.
Everyone says she is a tough teacher, but the truth is if you show up, read the chapters, do your work, and study, you will pass. She is very nice and willing to help you out, she offers plenty of extra credit opportunities and posts all her notes online.
Does not have a clear way of explaining. Very hard test, and a lot of reading
Don't take for Summer B Term. The entire class kept getting off topic and spent the time telling their life stories. Didn't go in depth pf many topics because "It's a short class and we don't have time", her words, not mine. Tests are tough. Doesn't really answer your questions. If you don't go to class but you read the textbook, you can pass.
I hear a lot of negative about Prof. Hooper. All I do not agree with. She does make you work but she is not unreasonable. She outlines expectations for you up front and is incredibly organized. I found that doing her classwork made her class an easy A. Read the book, do the assignments, do not procrastinate and you will be successful!
Professor Hooper is a very humble and brilliant person. I was so nervous taking her class from the rough reviews she got in the past but honestly this lady is amazing! Her lectures are really good, and she only has two tests during the semester: one midterm and final exam with weekly assignments. She takes time out to thoroughly explain concepts.
Hooper's class was OK. It was very difficult. I had to put a lot of effort in this class that I was required to take for my psychology major. Research methods class is very boring to me, and I did not enjoy it much. However, she wasn't a awful teacher. I don't know 1-10, I would give her as a teacher a 6. Good luck.
Dr. Hooper is passionate about research methods and it shows. There is a lot of homework! Only a midterm and final, but must study the notes and read the text to do well. Attendance is important. She offers extra credit, take advantage of it! I would definitely take her again. I got an A, but I worked for it ;)
Ok so listen to me if you want to sign up for this class. I took this class on line during the summer. It WAS HARD FOR AN ONLINE CLASS DURING SUMMER TERM. I studied a lot and still get 60( btw, I am an A&B student. There was four tests and one optional. A very hard assignment for each chapter. The study guide is not very helpful. Tests are hrad
Four exams. Can be proctored online or take the exams on campus. Final exam is only taken if you missed an exam or want your lowest grade dropped. Exams were hard. You really have to work for your grade, but you learn A LOT. Not always responsive to emails, but does her best. Very knowledgeable woman. Grading scale: A, A-, B+, etc. Lots of reading.
Had her for more than one class in a semester and I had to change my major because of it. Im an A student but I needed a B to get my bachelor in science and just because I was TWO POINTS under an 80 and she refused to help bring it up, I had to switch to a Bachelor in Arts. Avoid taking her. Don't make the doublewhammy mistake I did.
3 Exams + Opt Final, 15 Assignments/EC Essays! Read the text 2X, take notes, & then study the topics she lists under that module. Just email her or the TA if you have ?s or attend office hours. You can work ahead; use the resources she provides & do the exam pretest at least 2 days before. I love Dr. Hooper-- taking 2 classes w/ her next semester
Seriously the professor all professors should aspire to be. She knows her stuff inside and out so she doesnt need slides or lecture notes its basically a discussion based lecture. She funny, kind, and seriously down to earth. It's an upper level course so there's plenty of work to do but none of it's difficult. Most UNF professors should take notes
I took Dr. Hoopers Intro to Psychology in the condensed Summer B term. Shes a great teacher who knows the material very well. Expect her field of practice, the brain, to show up more prominently throughout the course. We had 6 weeks to complete 16 chapters and we didnt miss a beat, we got all that done, so in the summer it was a lot of work
Took her special topics class, we had to read a TON of research papers and talk about our findings. She wasn't horrible, and a lot of people liked her, but the class made me realize that neuroscience wasn't for me.
Dr. Hooper is extremely knowledgeable, personable, empathetic, and genuinely cares about the experience you have in class. You have to work really hard and all of her classes are challenging but in an extremely useful way; her teaching really prepares you for the next step. She is definitely one of the best teachers I've ever worked with!
Worst professor at UNF so far. She makes her exams proctored and closed-book... Her study guides for exams are NO help. Personality-wise she is cool... but she is one of those professors who goes into WAY too much detail. I will never take a class with her again. Would have much rather taken a class with a diff prof, but she was all that was left.
Don't take this Professor. There's way too much work required, she's rude and not understanding and the test are very hard. I had issues with the Proctored Exam and after some miscommunication, she refused to let me retake it. I'm a junior and have barley get B's, but this was my first C. Lesson learned, research your Professors before hand.
This was the first college class I ever took and I really enjoyed it. Professor Hooper is very knowledgeable and encourages students to engage during lectures. She is slightly stricter on paying attention, but if you want to actually get the academic experience youre paying for, choose her. The course material itself is easy.
Behavioral neuro is not an easy class but Dr. Hooper made it so fun and enjoyable. You have to read the textbook and know it well, but there are quizzes and EC assignments that you get excellent feedback on. It is very clear what you need to know and I learned so much. By far my fav prof and class ever. It's a lot of work, but she is a great prof!!
Lots of mini essays. You can correct exam answers for partial credit. Long weekly quizzes (but have all week). Read alot! Built in extra credit, easy to do, easier not to do. So yeah. Watch brain games and write what you learned. Thats it. But so easy not to do.
Took this class online I really liked that the professor offered video lectures online most online professors do not. You have to have the book many questions on the exam are straight from the book manufacturer. The exams are very difficult but there is extra credit and exam corrections. I suggest doing the extra credit and exam corrections.
I love Dr. Hooper. The class is hard because there is A LOT of information covered, but Dr. Hooper makes it enjoyable. I strongly recommend taking any of her classes.
online homework answers in the book, RECORD HER LECTURES!! lectures make it easy to understand. easy extra credit
I personally didn't have the best experience with her as a professor, but she was pretty accommodating when it came to any medical circumstances or emergencies that I had throughout the semester. Wouldn't discourage anyone from taking a course, but she is a stickler about AI usage to a detriment.
Hybrid summer class. In my experience, she was kind and accommodating. In-person attendance not required. Lots of reading + memorization. Allows test corrections and retakes. Class discussions, speakers, lots of extra credit, and as a surprise dropped multiple exams instead of one! Has her own recorded lectures and provides other resources/videos.
Read your textbook carefully, take extremely detailed notes, use all extra sources provided, and fully understand the professor's outline. Complete the study guide after each chapter. Follow these steps to secure a good grade, and take every available extra credit opportunity, even if it seems unnecessary, because the exams are challenging.
Not accommodating at all.
