She always answered questions and class discussions were easy and fun! Tests were easy and it was a breeze!!

If you don't get an A in this class...you should'nt be in college in the first place, time to visit one of the Sgt.s at the recruiting station..

Katherine isn’t one of the best professors I’ve had -- she is the best. I am so fortunate to have a teacher who doesn’t lecture, but gives me that drive on the morning of class days, enthusiastic, and excited to go to school. My favorite class ever. Oleson is so helpful, always smiling, so approachable. Easy grader. Challenging but fun class. Even those who were uncomfortable or shy felt confident by the end. You pick a research topic & deliver 3 different styles of speeches (the protest one you give outside) you get video taped. Lots of peer & self-critique.

Before I came into this class, I was deathly scared of speaking in front of people.But the stuff she teaches helps tremendously. You will learn a lot more than just speaking in front of people. Her public speaking class is highly recommended for those who want to improve upon their nervousness, etc. She's an AMAZING teacher.

She is fabulous! Always willing to help students. Class materials are a lot but she makes it clear and easy to understand. Good mixture of lecture and group discussion. You will present a speech at the baseball field at the end of the quarter which is a lot of fun!

Taking a online class over the summer with Katherine was great. The subject was interesting, tests not too hard due to good study guides, and the homework activities insightful. Katherine is helpful, encouraging, organized, and punctual getting back to you. I learned alot!

She was AMAZING and just so wonderful! She took time to talk to me and help me outside of class, even with my homework from other classes. She even helped me with some advising stuff since our advisers are not that great. She is a wonderful person, super sweet, super funny, super nice :)

Katherine is the best professor I've ever had. She's extremely helpful, really upbeat and encouraging, and really wants to see you succeed. I can't imagine WANTING to skip class (even though it's at 7:30, and I have a half-hour long commute). I wouldn't take this class from anyone but her. If you have to juggle your schedule, do it!!

Katherine is the BEST teacher, fun, relaxed, cheerful, relatively easy but you learn a lot, she knows her stuff. For public speaking, 3 total speeches, can be a harder than usual grader but really wants to help out, always available and she's super sweet! Take her if you get a chance for any class.

Public speaking was a blast! Those 3 speaches took everything out of me cuz. of the load of research i did but I learned everything i needed and wanted from her. Always smiling, always chipper, and always helping. Take her, she will rbighten your day!

Katherine is easily one of the most engaged and thoughtful teachers that I have had here at Bellevue College. Not all instructors give as much of themselves, especially in an online class and it is greatly appreciated. She gives very explicit feedback on assignments, even quoting from them. You will know that she is paying attention to you.

WOW, she has like 100 students in this summer quarter and she has managed to give EACH OF THEM a specific feed back...She is absolutely helpful,subjects are clear, tho, it requires you to read the book VERY PRECISELY and the tests are HARD and somewhat tracky. She grades easy, as long as you can bring out the point she wants.. 99.9/100 good teacher

She is really helpful and willing to help you with anything you need and with pretty much any questions. Public Speaking may not be your thing but if you gain anythig from her class it has to be COnfidence.

Katherine is extremely helpful and she cares about you as a person and student. She makes the material interesting. She is serious when she says that she'll write you a letter of rec, too. She wrote over three for me and was happy to do all of them. Her teaching is very appropriate and her lectures are not dull. I recommend taking ANY of her classe

I had to take public speaking for my major. I was not at all thrilled with the idea of public speaking. But Katherine's enthusiasm and wealth of knowledge made it fun and informative. This ended up being my favorite class of the quarter. Katherine is very devoted to her students and will do everything she can to help you succeed. Take her class!

Katherine is an amazing, industrious, and dedicated teacher who has a passion for communication studies. She was always there to help because she wanted everyone to succeed. She gave quick and helpful feedback. I was hesitant to take this class, but Katherine made it worth every minute. I highly recommend this class and teacher.

I took this class online. Each chapter in the book has 30-40 key terms in it you must memorize for the exams. You read a chapter a week, do the math. The discussions are very dry because everyone has to basically answer the same questions. I will forget the majority of stuff I have "learned" in this class. Teacher answers emails quickly.

Katherine is an AMAZING teacher! She is so fun, nice, and easy going. If you need extra time or help on an assignment, she is more than willing to be open-minded--which is a hard trait to find in a college teacher! This class was beyond fun, I actually looked forward to attending it, and I learned so much! Best class at BC, best teacher, 10/10!

I have very little interest in communication, but this class really changed my perspective. Oleson is a great and easy instructor. Discussions and assignments really get you thinking and involved in the world of communication. You learn so much in this class.

Her class is rigorous, but she is very helpful, clear, and understanding! If you miss an essay or deadline and talk to her, she'll give you an extra day, no problem. really great teacher and interesting class!

Intense online class. Several assignments each week, reading, online discussions, online presentations and assignments for each chapter and a final. Finished the entire text 10-11 chapters. Valuable content. Teacher interaction was minimal for me but she seemed prompt in responding to the requests she did get from other students.

Katherine is so passionate about teaching. She comes in everyday with a huge smile on her face and is always happy to be in class. She is extremely helpful, always answers questions in class or through email. She will read drafts and give you feedback to made your speech better. Overall, very helpful and fantastic teacher.

The best class I have taken at BC. This is an excellent class, it is based completely on small group interaction. A fair amount of the class is done online but everything talked about is relational to everyday life and topics; extremely interesting. Katherine is a great, enthusiastic professor who really enjoys hearing what students have to say.

Speech class - this is the 3rd class at Bell. College I am taking with her! That should say a lot. Her classes are vigorous but she is very helpful and doesn't stree deadlines. This class included 3 speeches on the one topic of your choice, lots of research and outline editing, some text book questions, random other quizes and small assignments.

I can not say enough nice things about Mrs Oleson. She was by far the best teacher I have ever had! She is the nicest person, was always extremely helpful and continued to help. She did whatever she could to help you! I would HIGHLY recommend Mrs Oleson!! I will be taking more of her classes!!! Exceeded my expectations! Take her class! :)

This is the best professor at BC. Katherine's teaching method is really clear and easy to understand. She makes complex public speaking concepts easy. She also provide many useful resources and respond email quickly. For CMST 220, it require 3 speech for the quarter. Highly recommend this professor.

Instructor was awesome. Was an online class and she is very clear on deadlines and what is expected from you. Follow through with due dates and communication and discussions and you will get a good grade. Tests are a bit hard even online because they are timed to not allow much book use, but read your book and you're golden.

The nicest teacher ive meet in probably my whole schooling career she's very understanding if you miss something or turn something in late. she keeps class entertaining and fun. would definitely take another class with her if i can!

Katherine's first Hybrid Speech Class. She's awesome! I'm not really into speech but her class is fun. She's extremely flexible, helpful, kind & energetic! Lots of small homework. 4 speeches (3 graded - informative, persuasive and protest). She has a lot to grade in your performance and it does help you to improve. Take her! I really recommend her!

She is the sweetest teacher in the world! She replies to your emails within the same day, always checking in and leaves comments on every assignment you turn in so it's easy to improve. Her quizzes are pretty difficult but classwork is easy. I really liked her class!

Katherine is one of the best professor I knew. She is very nice and willing to help you out. There are times when I told her that i need extra time to submit my assignment, and she is willing to give you time without consequences. She reply to all of my emails ASAP. Adore her very much.

First ever online class at Bellevue College. It was a good experience. Katherine was clear in her directions for what was due when, and she provided time-management guidance as well. No final test at the end. The final was a paper, but she had other options available as well. Well-organized. Did not provide a great deal of feedback, so 4/5.

Katherine is a great teacher and explains stuff well. However, prepare to work hard because otherwise you won't get full points. You have about 1-2 discussions, 1 journal, 1 quiz, and readings due each week. So prepare for hw almost everyday. It may look hard at first but you will get used to it! I don't know if I will take her again.. great class!

You can tell that she's a professor that actually cares about her students. She was really willing to work with you for due dates as well as if you didn't understand something. Not too much work, and she helps you manage your time throughout the quarter.

Provided multiple formats of all lecture materials. Lot's of additional resources for students. Clearly notes what was graded or not. So long as you did the lectures and homework, you will pass this. Even with what I considered an "easy A" she provided valuable feedback on each of my assignments and I genuinely learned from her class.

Took her late start online class, by far my favorite communication class ever!! super interesting course, One group discussion per week, along with a quiz, and an assignment, super clear criteria! No final just a long paper!! Easy grader, and very thoughtful, and cares about her students! I will defiantly take another one of her classes!!!!

Katherine is awesome! I found her class to be pretty easy. One discussion post a week with readings and a couple of easy quizzes with a final. The final is a paper you write about what you've learned in the class which I really liked. She is a really caring and genuinely kind person who wants to see her students succeed! I loved her class.

AMAZING TEACHER! She is so good at communicating & extremely caring. One of the best professors that I've ever taken. If you can't submit an assignment on time she'll give you an extension as long as you communicate it w/ her. Overall easy class, but with some of the most valuable info you'll ever learn. Professor Katherine is an awesome professor and person. They are understanding and are always willing to make accommodations for the best experience you can get out of your education. The course was "easy" but its important to note that students like myself can find the course to be easy but still actually LEARN and MASTER material, take thecourse!

Wonderful teacher. She used the same format every 2-3 weeks. read the chapter -> discussion post and response -> individual activity -> quiz. There was no test final, just a final paper. It was 6 pages, but as someone who is bad at essay writing, I got 200/200. She is quick to respond to emails (1-2 hrs), and if you ask for it she offers help.

Professor Medbery-Oleson was great! She is very flexible with assignments and such a caring person overall. There were plenty of discussions, a few quizzes, and some papers to write. It was difficult, but manageable. I highly recommend her if you are taking cmst courses, she is fantastic! She's organized and responds fast to emails.

Very nice professor. It did get overwhelming at times because it is very face paced and very textbook heavy but if you read the book you should do fine. Assignments/essays were pretty exact to the book. and only had 3/4 quizzes. would 1000% recommend taking her class

Professor was very kind and clear with her expectations. Tests were clear and related to topics in the textbook. Review guides were frequent with all tests. Examples for assignments and extra clarification was given so expectations were clear. Reasonable deadlines and the class material was easy to understand.

No late work penalty. I managed to do the entire quarter in only 3 days, very easy class.

Professor genuinely cares about wellbeing of students. Accepts all late work and is very understanding. Assignments were easy and easy to learn. Nice professor, would definitely recommend her.
