Katherine had such enthuasim for teaching! she is so funny but still stays professional. I would reccomend her to anyone! Sometime class can be hard, but shes always willing to help

She is interested in making the student learn and that is great. The holelistic grading isnt very fun, but as long as you are prepaired and work when told to you should have no trouble getting an A. Have fun

Katherine is a great teacher!

SHE IS A REALLY GOOD, FUN TEACHER, ONLY THING IS SHE DOESN'T BELIEVE IN GRADE INFLATION, SO A "C" IS AVERAGE. SHE REALLY TRIES TO MAKE SURE THE CLASS IS APPEALING THOUGH

katherine is an awesome teacher! she made class fun and interesting and made you think outside of the box....she's by far one of the best teachesr that i have had in a long time!

what a babe... on so many levels! if u want to ace the class, u better be ready to be your brilliant self! her class can be hard, but it's tremendous fun! oh yea... and closed minds wont get u anywhere in life... especially in her classroom

Very tough class. The work load for Comp2 is pretty intimidating, especially for full time students. Katherine herself can be very harsh and biased, with a dash of extreme feminism, so men watch out. Contrary to her opinion she does play favorites, but mostly just with females (hey, it's true.)

Katherine is a great teacher. She pushes you to your limits to see what you are capable of. She is not an easy teacher but do you really want a college professor to be easy on you? There is no point in that. She may be a feminist but I don't see anything wrong with that. I think she's extremly strong.

She's wonderful. If you get the chance, take a class with her, you'll be happy you did. I promise.

Katherine is a great teacher so far. She is tough and and she expects a lot but I always want to make certain that I please her with the work that I turn in. She is very strict but honestly when a student walks in late, it disrupts the whole class. She has great policies as long as you follow them you're golden.

Just so you're not confused by the previous comment about Katherine's "Women's Lit" class, i will post this to let you know katherine is by far the best teacher i've had at MCC, and I'm just finishing my 60 hour A.S. Everyone is her favorite, and what i've learned from her has been extremely helpful in other classes i've taken. especially comp II.

She'll make you work hard but in the end you get out of the class what you put into it and if you try hard you will learn a lot

Katherine was an amazing teacher but shes crazy, rude and has favorites. Shes not very open to peoples opnions because shes "right". Though at the end of the semester she did help me out. Womens Lit is an awesome class though and i learned a lot.

She challenged me in a way no other teacher ever has. My life was changed by this class and a lot of that had to do with her passion and demand for personal greatness. Highly recommended, so long as you're open to giving a class this level the time it requires.

She hands out a rubric that specifies everything she grades on and hands that rubric back (with explanation to why you got the mark you did). Very clear, no BS kind of teacher. Demands the best of her students. She makes you work for your grades, but in the end, you know you earned that A.

Don't take her if you are looking for a blow-off class or an easy A. She makes you work to earn your grade. But, if you want to learn to think outside the box and improve your writing skills her classes are a must! She will help you if you need it, just ask. I learned more from her than any other teacher ever!

Fabulous teacher!!! I learned more from Kate Midday than I have from any other teacher at MCC. Took a Learning Community class that she did with Cynthia Van Sickle, not only was it interesting, but these teachers really taught me a lot about myself. They push you to be the best and you definitely earn your grade!

Kate is probably the best teacher that I have ever had. She's hilarious, and if you work hard and actually do the work, she'll love you. It is true that she picks favorites, but there is a quick solution to this, just become one of them. She's helpful, nice, and really awesome. If you take the class seriously, she'll take you seriously. Love her!

Came back after BA to pick up a few Gen Eds and was blown away with the level of honesty and professionalism I saw in this instructor. She absolutely runs a tight ship, but that is so the students who want to learn are able to achieve that goal. It is tough, but life is tough. You get out of it what you put into it!

I took Eng 151 online fall 2010 & it was my first English class in 15 years. BOY is she intimidating. As long as you follow her PRECISE directions & do things as she asks to be done you will be okay. I won't lie, she isnt an easy teacher, she will push you to succeed. Follow her critiques on each paper and fix it on the next. Also use SAGE

Kate Midday is truly a awe inspiring teacher: she'll make you work harder than you're comfortable with, but you'll learn to appreciate that work ethic. She brings out the best writer in you. If possible, take her- you won't regret it.

I have gone to three separate undergraduate universities/colleges, and I can say hands-down that Kate Midday is my favorite professor that I have ever had. She is the smartest most amazing woman, and the degree to which she cares about her students and the subject matter is astounding. Take her. Expect challenges, but also expect to grow.

This is not a course for the student looking for an easy "A". Enthusiastic and interesting teacher, but extremely HIGH expectations. Be prepared to work hard for your grade.

I think Kate is a wonderful professor, and so enthusiastic about the subject. I think her guidelines about lateness are to be expected, this is college, it's not meant to be easy. She expects the best from you, and in this setting it's thrilling to work to live up to her expectations. Truly wonderful professor.

Not easy with her work, but really fun! A lot of interesting group discussion, which is graded, and lots of interesting things to say. The readings were not the normal boring stuff like the high school lit classes. Also, she outlines everything really nicely in class. Really friendly both inside and outside of class.

350 characters is not enough to describe how much I loved her class. Passionate teacher and important material. Discussions were incredible. I learned things in this class I will apply to the rest of my life. She's a strict teacher and has a hands off approach to students but is, hands down, the best professor I have had at MCC.

Kate is amazing!! I took Children's Lit and it was incredible. Kate is so smart and so passionate about her class. I learned so much. However, if you are expecting an easy blow-off class I would not recommend Children's Lit. Again, amazing teacher and awesome class!

She is a great teacher, but a tough grader! If you are looking for an EASY A or B or even a C - do not take a class by Ms. Midday. If you follow the syllabus to the word and work hard you will love this class and will learn a lot from her.

I absolutely loved Kate! She's hilarious and she keeps you engaged in her class. Her teaching style is also very clear, but if you still have questions, she's willing to help you out!

I would recommend Kate for anyone looking to take a comp course at MCC. She is absolutely brilliant. She is so knowledgeable and passionate about her job. She truly loves what she does and is a fabulous instructor! I plan to take her again next semester. Good grades come to those who work hard. You'll do fine in her class if you put in the effort.

Kate pushes her students. I took Children's Literature with her and I have never had to work harder in a class before. At least half of the class dropped because of the amount of reading and writing required to pass the class. However, if you stick it out the class is definitely worth it. Furthermore, Kate is extremely passionate and loves her job.

Kate is a tough grader but I liked that about her because it pushed you to do better. I received a C on my 1st paper which was really discouraging. She helped me to become a better writer and in the end received in A in the class. Kate is one of the best professors I have ever had. Her class is NOT a blow-off class. You have to work very hard!

I had Kate for children's literature and it way BY FAR the hardest class I have ever taken in my life. Yet, somehow it ended up being one of the best classes I have ever taken. Kate is so passionate and wonderful. Be prepared to WORK HARD in her class- there will be all-nighters! If you do not like participating or reading do not take her class.

If you're not willing to try and push yourself, don't take her class. Kate was probably the best teacher I had here at mcc. She taught me how to write good college essays. She's not only a good teacher but also makes you feel comfortable in her class because she's hilarious. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to succeed.

Kate is ABSOLUTELY phenomenal, and one of the two must-take professors at MCC. I've taken comp II and then stayed an extra year to take Children's Lit and Women's Lit with her; she's just that good. She WILL work with you, as long as you do try to meet her high expectations. She will put you through the wringer and you will be the better for it.

Kate's class was by far the hardest class I have ever taken. There is lots of reading to keep up with and if you miss even one day of class your grade will show it. However the lectures and discussions are amazing. In this class you learn so much about yourself and by the end of the semester you will be a changed person. I'm taking her again.

Kate is without a doubt the BEST professor I have had. Her Women's Literature class was outstanding. You must be willing to read, think hard, participate and really work for your grade. We read so many novels that I would have never picked up on my own and I loved them. She is an inspiration to me. Extremely professional. An amazing woman.

TAKE HER CLASS!! She is one of the best instructors I have ever had. She is so passionate and HILARIOUS and makes you want to come to class. It is A LOT of reading and she assigns reading logs that you do throughout the semester which get easier the more you do them. Your grade really reflects how much effort you put in. Not a blow off class.

If you struggle in writing or want to improve, Kate is the teacher to have for any English class. I have learned more than ever over the course of one semester. She is tough, but she pushes you to become an amazing writer. I am so happy I had Kate because now I feel confident about my writing level and she taught me to work hard for results

I took kate's comp 1 and 2. She is by far the best proffessor at MCC. Shes one of the few that i actually learned from. Very inspirational. Classes are not boring. She is a tough grader but she clearly lays out everything you need to do to get a good grade.

Don't listen to the bad reviews on here. Kate was by far the best teacher i've had at MCC. She will make you work hard, but she will teach you how to write so well and how to be a good student. She doesn't like slack and is crystal clear on what she expects. She's the reason I did so well in COMP2 and Speech. She's hilarious too. Highly recommend.

She was hands down the best teacher I have EVER had and possible one of the best people I'll ever met. She helped me grow tremendously as a student and person. I use the things she taught in her. Her women's lit class is absolutely life changing and I would highly recommend it to both ladies and gentlemen!!! I can not say enough positive things!!!

I've had Kate for two classes now and she can be a tough grader at first. She truly does care about her students and is passionate about what she teaches. Hard work pays off in her class, I learned so much from her! She packs a lot into her lectures so attendance is important! Overall I highly recommend taking her courses!

I actually enjoy going to Kate's class which is VERY rare for me to say about any other prof. She is so funny and really makes you think about things. I took two of her classes, I loved and hated it. there are times I felt that she thought her class was the only class that matters and that is very hard on students that are taking 4+ classes. shes passionate about what she teacher and her lectures are wonderful just be ready to work very hard for your grade and read a ton.

Kate is an absolutely fabulous instructor. I took her LYAO Twofer (ENG-152/JRN-180) in Spring of 2023, and her enthusiasm was infectious. I enjoyed her so much I'm taking her ENG-277 class this semester. Though she is a little strict when it comes to grading, she does this because she wants her students to excel. Amazing person and instructor.

Kate is an excellent teacher, right off the bat. She is so clearly passionate about what she teaches, and if you put in the work and communicate with her, you will excel.
