Great Teacher. Very interested in making sure you really understand the subject. Made class interesting too. Made a rather frustrating (the experiments kept going wrong) lab class fun. If you ask-she will spoon feed you until it makes sense to you.
It would help if she could teach.
She just can't teach.
Doesn't explain things very clearly. Rushes through topics before most understand. Over half the class fails the tests. My classmates have been dropping likes flies from withdrawing. If you take this class get another teacher.
Assigns homework problems that she did not cover in class.
No one understands what she's talking about and every other word she says is, "ok?", but no one screams "No, NOT ok!" because they are too confused as to why their college life has taken such a turn for the worst.
The WORST professor i have had by far at this university or any other school. does not know how to teach, and is very unreasonable. takes off points for unknown reasons and will not explain. NEVER take her, this is my warning.
This is class is sooo hard, and she doesnt show examples of anything unless it's in her notes. The homework is almost impossible and you have to find someone who knows what they are doing to help you pass
Not helpful. Laughs at the fact that no one gets the information. Never take her.
People expect to be spoon-fed the information and it just won't always happen with her. There are some things that you will have to study for, and chemistry is one of them. It's not her fault if some of her students don't want to work. You will have to think to do well, but this is life.
Welcome to hell. Spends the class trying to make people laugh at her stupid jokes. She rushes through everything and no one understands what is going on.
she really can't teach, someone said you actually have to study for her but yea that's any class, but she can't explain a damn thing, save youself and just don't take her...(PS her online print out hw's are just a pain in the ass, they never work, and she is a **** about it)
Horrible teacher!!! Do not take her, she didnt start teaching until the end of the semester when she realized most of the class was going to fail and at that point it was to late. The last day of class she said she hopes to see us in the same class again!
Worst professor ever! She said I had to take her class again when I did not, didn’t cost her a thing. She is not interested in how well you do, or that you even understand. She is trying to be your friend, but forgets she is being paid to teach. She will help you, assuming you can stop everything an
she sucks
I love chemistry and I'm good at it. I skipped her class as often as possible and still got an A, but I'm one of the lucky ones that already understands chemistry pretty well. She can be confusing and is a little tough. If you work hard you might do well. I think she liked me because I kept the class average up, but I didn't like her.
I hate her I hate her I hate. She is the worst teacher I have had in all four years at Salisbury. Take senkbiel instead!
She is the worst teacher i have ever had!! She teaches to fast like you came into her class knowing everything....if that was true i wouldnt have to take her****ty class!
I HATE HER!! She is the worst teacher in the world. Im suprised they still let her teach here. She spends the whole class trying to make us laugh by telling jokes that no one gets but she laughs anyway and I spend the whole class either staring off into space or wondering were she gets pants that are that short and come up that high!! She couldnt teach anyone anything! My friend already passed Chem w/ a B from anther school and she dosent even understand Miller!!
i dont understand why everyone thinks she is hard. i think it is a very easy class and she explains everything very well. yea she does need to stop trying so hard to make everyone laugh at very stupid jokes, and someone needs to take her shopping!! but overall i think she is a good teacher
Presents the material very clearly in powerpoint. She makes alot of mistakes in terms of calculations b/c she was "abducted by aliens". it's gotten up to about 4 obvious mistakes per class. If you go for extra help she has often given incorrect answers to problems. She is willing to help clarify the material bad analogies tho when explaining.
Dont take this prof if chemistry isnt your best subject, like she expects it 2 be. She doesnt help those who need it,instead focuses on and favors those who know what theyre doing. ASKING 4 help gets you know where, trust. THATs why I failed and have 2 take it over. Shes clear if u kno what shes talking about. Her "jokes" dont make anything better
I already know a lot about chem, so her class was a breeze.BUT I wouldn't recommend her to anyone else. She knows a lot, she just doesn't know how to teach it. If you aren't good at simple algebra and conversions, you wont survive. Lectures are boring, but she goes over things that aren't in the online notes, and sometimes extra credit is offered.
she is probably one of the worst teachers there is. she doesnt explain things very well and the only time that she did explain things was when she was being evaluated by someone who was sitting in the class. DONT take her and dont ask her for help. Also her study sessions are absolutely pointless to go to
Had her for chem 121 and thought I'd give her a chance but that was a dumb thing to do. Even with a class where she is teaching on a subject she likes and is good at she makes it boring. This class had so much potential. So much for that!
The worst teacher ever! She goes over the powerpoints in class but she makes too many mistakes. Overall just a wierd woman. Study and u will do well on the weekly quizzes. tests r tough and the final is ridiculous. Just do not take her shes def the worse in the department
The notes are easy to understand but the tests are difficult and she has high expectations. Helpful if you ask teh right questions, but likes to move things along quickly.
THIS IS THE WORST TEACHER EVER!! I wish i had known about ratemyprofessors before i signed up for classes this semester because it would have saved me alot of trouble. Miller is hard to understand, makes mistakes and if you ask her for help she acts like your from planet stupid. save yourself the trouble and go with a professor who cares
Wow, are we talking about the same teacher? She is nice and very approachable. I had her for two classes and I got good grades in both of them. She is a bit of a touch grader but I picked that up quickly and worked harder. Plus—she is very happy and supper helpful when you go for office hours.
Ah, save yourself while you can. She's the worst teacher possible. Explains nothing, makes you feel stupid when you ask questions, and is completely annoying! She grades you as if you are some Chemist.. which most aren't. In short.. DON'T TAKE HER!!
SHE THE WORST TEACHER EVER!! whatever you do DONT TAKE her. she does not explain anything and she goes really fast. she also does homework on-line..JUST DROP her class OR dont take her
Worst teacher I've ever had in my life. Grading is unforgiving.
Pretty much the worst teacher ever. Won't give study guides for tests or even review for tests, she assumes you have no life and study every night of the week. Freaks out if your 2 minutes late for class...
I was very scared after reading the previous ratings, she does expect you to attend class be on time, and study, but she will always make time if you have any questions. I found her extremely helpful and she really loves her job. A very nice person to be around. The class is hard but she is a very straight forward and kind person.
She is a god awful teacher...just rambles on during her lectures everytime and her tests seem like she just pulls them offline rather than make them fit what she was teaching you...plus she says "measure" extremely weird..dont take her
shes not hard at all. all you have to do is do the homework. be sure to keep the 3 tests you take because its basically the final.
I kept looking around for the hidden camera. This class had to have been a joke. It wasn't funny! What a complete waste of my time. I should be teaching her! Actually, nevermind because I don't want her around me. Please don't take this class unless you like being put down, discouraged, and spoken to like you are an idiot.
This lady would get so pissed off when I would try and help other students learn an easier way... she's crazy!!! Don't breath too loudly in her class... or she'll bite you.
I got an A in chem 122 and a C in chem 121, just because of her , she cant teach at all, and her exams are hard.
She is not as bad as everyone says she is! I got a 100% on one of her exams, all it took was some studying and paying attention in class. If you aren't willing to do that, don;t go to college
The class wasn't that difficult, but weekly quizzes could make or break your grade. The three exams given give you a good idea of what to expect for the final.
CHEM 111 isn't a hard class at all. It's history and chemistry put together. Two novels to read and a few papers to write, but she isn't a harsh grader at all. Not by any means. Her lectures can be long and hard to pay attention to, but it's nothing too bad. Seriously, this class was an easy grade.
Worst teacher I have ever had. Powerpoints are extremely disorganized (sometimes didn't even know what chapter she was teaching) & was unwilling to answer students' questions during class--her response was, "we don't have time for that". If you value your GPA & are not good at teaching yourself, my advice is to AVOID this teacher if possible. :(
I took this class my freshman year, fall semester. As long as you study, and do the homework you will do just fine. But, you do actually have to study. She drops the 2 lowest quiz grades, and there are quizzes after every chapter. If you put the time and effort, you will pass the class.
My child took this professor for Chem 1 this year. DO NOT TAKE HER. All of the negative comments are correct and she does not teach, or help when needed. "She doesn't have time". Obviously this woman should not be a teacher! She relies on student helpers and other teachers to teach her students. It's a shame! Look into this SU! Read the reviews! SAD
horrible. no notes. quizzes material based on lecture, not text book. she is just as bad as anita brown
Great teacher, I learned so much in this class.
If you have the chance to take someone else for chem 121 I highly recommend it she is no help to anyone at all
easily the worst teacher i have ever had for anything. she is confusing and looks at you like your an idiot if you ask for clarity. i learned more from SI and the tutors then her, actually i only learned from SI and the tutors. going to class is a waste of time. may as well stay home, read the book, and save yourself the misery of being around her.
You get what you work for. The tests are easy if you study. 3 Exams, weekly quizzes and a final. She is willing to help if you ask, but a lot of it is independent. If you take the flipped class WATCH THE VIDEOS. The class would be very difficult without them. They're long, but are extra credit. Not an easy A, but it's feasible.
She is a creepy woman that loves to watch her students suffer it was a miracle that I am passing her class. get ready to study your butt off for the lecture exams.
She doesn't do any teaching in class, it's all online, and she moves at a pace that is very difficult for someone who is learning the material for the first time to follow.
I wouldn't retake her class even if you paid me to take it. She does absolutely nothing to help her students and is often condescending when you try to get help. She is very intelligent but doesn't know how to break down the information to teach. She posts videos online of lectures and then walks around class while students work on classwork.
This old, skinny lady ruined me. She knew she got bad ratings so she changed her teaching system last semester and still we were screwed. She can't teach. Simply put. She's horrible at explaining and literally is evil and not willing to help. She says you can come to her office hours but can't stay to actually solve the problem. Heartless skeleton.
She will be the reason, if I fail this class. 1 credit BioChem Lab should not be this hard.
Dr. Miller was great. She posted videos online of her lecturing(instead of outlining the textbook which takes twice as long), and during class she lets students work on computational problems. I really liked this approach as I struggled with the math aspect of chemistry, and got A's on quizzes i thought I would fail. WATCH THE VIDEOS!
I had Miller for lab. She is a very tough grader and her quizzes were confusing. She is a very smart lady, however I would frequently asked her questions, expecting to an answer... She never gave a straight forward answer and made everything complicated. Do not take her for Chem.
Expect to watch videos ranging from 5 min to 40 min outside of class and apply that knowledge in class through example problems. Make sure you pay attention and do the work or you will really struggle. Go to SI
I feel that she doesn't teach you everything, yet expects you to know everything. Also, sometimes seems like she thinks that this is the only class you are taking. And finally, if you're late to class she absolutely flips out, not just on the person late, but the whole entire class. Not a fan at all.
She will not accept a doctors not if you miss an exam even if you were in the hospital all night. Lectures are all over the place not making sense, and she loves group work. She thinks she is funny but in reality no one knows what is happening half the time.
DO NOT TAKE. Worst experience of my life. I had her for lab and lecture. Tries to explain chemistry by analogies and it just doesn't work. Drop and take a different teacher.
The worst professor I have ever taken. Had to drop halfway through because it was that awful. Avoid her class at all costs.
Avoid. She expects that this is your only class. If you are expecting a 100 level class expect it to be taught as a 200+ class. Don't bother signing up and drop if you have the time.
This class should have been an easy A for anyone that put in a medial effort, and it was awful. People don't show up when they know they're going to be 5 min late because she's so rude. She gave a 3rd exam 3 DAYS before our cumulative final. If you go to her office she is some help, but the group work we do in class is almost useless.
Going to class is basically pointless because it doesn't help you for the tests, she might be the rudest person I've ever met, likes to talk about the weird things she does in her free time.
her lectures are confusing/hard to understand. If you are one minute late to class she flips out. she gives a lot of quizzes and homework. You need to read the text or you will not pass this class.
Miller is absolutely horrible. She does not teach in lecture. you watch these videos outside of class and when you get to class she hands out a worksheet to do with your group and of course everyone is so lost so its not helpful at all. Her exams are unfair, she makes M.C 4 points each so if you get a couple wrong its over for you. no curves either
Don't even bother trying. You could get an 89.7 and still end up with a B. She's an insanely heartless woman that could not care less if you fail. Good luck getting and A because no one in our class did. Save yourself the sweat and blood you put into your work because I promise you, you won't end up with the grade you think you deserve.
She expects you to know what you are learning in class from the videos. Your teaching yourself. Final was really hard and she does not curve it.
worst teacher i have ever had. DO NOT TAKE HER. you learn from the videos which doesnt help, and she doesnt teach in class. her exams are hard as hell and no curves. I had a 69.8% and i begged for her to curve and she didnt. final was hard as hell. heartless woman.
Definitely the worst teacher I've ever had. Chem is a hard course to begin with and this woman made it so much harder. Doesn't answer questions in class and rolls her eyes at students when they ask questions. Expects you to teach yourself most of the material. Half the class dropped.
A lot of people do not like Dr. Miller's teaching style but Chem 122 is just hard. It isn't her fault that it sucks, you just actually have to try to understand and study and do the work instead of the material coming naturally. Pro tip; DO THE WORKSHEETS, most of the exams have very similar questions for the work out problems.
I only had Miller for lab. She was safety oriented and made clear what she expected of her students.
Had her for lab, one of the worst teachers. Can be very rude at times, a little more helpful when you come to office hours but even still sometimes had an attitude.
If you want to waste your money on a class, take it with Miller. she doesnt accurately teach and you will end up teaching yourself everything you know. the class information never lines up with quiz or test questions. if you want to have a good chemistry experience, take someone else or just dont take it here.
If you love crying yourself to sleep, shouting at your classmates, and taking exam and quizzes that you won't pass, then you would love her. Lectures are boring, exams and quizzes relate nothing to class notes, and she grades brutally no partial credit! If you happen to have her, I wish you the best of luck, because you will struggle to pass.
I am a Nursing Major with a 4.0 GPA and Dr. Miller's Class was the only class in college I had ever gotten a B in (and I took Micro, developmental psych, patho, etc). She tests you on things you did not learn in class, expects you to know as much as she does, tricks you on test questions, etc. DO NOT enroll with her, you wont like your grade.
I had Dr. Miller for CHEM122 before taking biochemistry this semester and I would not have chosen to take her again because she is pretty disorganized as a professor yet also a hard grader and never curves. But in this course she was nicer plus started to give study guides for exam essay questions. Do NOT take her for the lab though.
Millers class was rough. She was usually unorganized, and often messed up math problems or wrote the wrong things on the board which was very confusing. Her teaching style is to let students make common mistakes in class, then correct us. The homework (online) she gave us sometimes had equations and concepts we never learned. I taught myself a lot
I had lab and lecture with Dr. Miller. Lab with her was great, she explained things clearly and if you went to her a few days before lab she would explain things. For lecture, she was disorganized and that made it hard to follow what she was trying to say. I self taught a LOT and don't think I learned much this semester (for ref I got an A in orgo)
Currently taking this teacher now, she has no idea what she is doing teaching this now online course. Awful decision taking it with her. Should have checked this website first.
I took this class my first semester not knowing who I was dealing with. She is a very strict grader, but can be quite great to talk to and very approachable. However, the course itself is unbearably hard because of the content and not her teaching abilities. She definitely prepares competent and capable chemistry students.
Whatever you do, DO NOT take Dr. Miller for any classes. She is very unapproachable. When responding to emails, she never answered my questions in full, so I had to email her at least 4-5 times to get a decent response. She provides rubrics for the labs but when she grades she doesnt follow it and she takes additional points away.
This is the worst science professor Ive ever had at Salisbury University. She is extremely unapproachable, her lectures are all over the place, and she is a very harsh grader. She does not care about the students success in the class even if theyre trying their hardest. Extremely hard and stressful class.
Dr. Miller is a very tough grader and is very picky about small things, however, she knows what she's doing in the classroom and in the lab. She is not quick to give you the answer to anything but will help you if you really need it. She is easy to talk to, and her lectures are very in-depth, do not skip class! Work hard and you will succeed.
Half of the questions in exams are MCQ's and they are 5 points each. She cuts off points for silly reasons such as mistaking my 2 for 7 even though same answer was in the math part. She takes her time to explain the lab procedure but wont give us extension while the other professor allowed me to finish it outside the class and submit later on.
Flipped classroom (watched videos teaching the information and took notes for homework every class and did practice work in class), homework also consisted of practice problems due the day of each quiz, most students didn't like her but I thought she was decent, strict but outlined what she expected, mostly independent learning using her resources
Very rude when asked questions on the topic. For example, if I asked a question, she would respond with "Dont waste class time with questions" or "You have a phone, use google" She was extremely unhelpful during office hours.
awful. don't ask her questions. she doesn't help. doesn't care for a students success. does not give partial credit. worst professor ive ever had. she briefly goes over things for 30 min then gives you a class guide and when you ask questions tells you to ask your group. She is a tough grader and should not be teaching an intro course. 1/10 AWFUL
Flipped classroom, rude, will not allow you to make up for points in the beginning of class even if you are 1 minute late. You teach yourself most of it and then she barely goes over it in class. You can ask questions if you want, but she will make you ask your classmates before you go and ask her. The worst professor I have taken so far.
whoreibble
Hardest exams I have ever taken. No study guides, no curves, no extra credit. Not willing to listen to constructive criticism. Class average exam grades were never above a D. Take this class with literally anyone else.
Have a strong chem background! Difficult exams and quizzes. Rude. Class avg is a D for like everything. No curves. There is a new topic every class where she will teach for 15min max then group work. You cant ask questions on HW and material from last class. She will cut points if you are late even by a min. Take lec/lab with literally anyone else.
She has no compassion for the home life of her students. She is a super hard grader with little feedback.
I had her as my lab instructor and she was a tough grader and somewhat inflexible. If I had questions on anything within the write-up she would just tell me to look on the lab manual. The lab quizzes were tough and I really had to be prepared by doing the pre-lab and reading. She talked a lot and I frequently ran out of time in a 2 hour 45 min lab.
