Take her! You get out of class early and get lots of laughs, while still understanding the material. Sometimes she acts like she doesn't really care, but I know she does. She's pretty cool :)

This professor is very helpful and is willing to work with you if you have upcoming events. She will custom tailor the class to the desire of the students. She is very knowledgable about the subject martial and is funny.

Professor Raines is such a trip. She gives her students a lot of creative license when it comes to assignments, but is really helpful if you're one who needs more focused instruction. If you need to take a writing intensive I highly suggest her. It'll be the least stressful course you take all semester!

Easiest grader, offers extra credit, class usually is only 5/6 hours instead of 8 (and the time goes by fast). Just make sure you attend all the classes since there's only 6 meetings!

As long as you go to class and turn in the assignments you will get an A. She is very lenient on the deadlines and will let you turn them in at any time (although she plans to change that). First off, the previous negative comment is nowhere near describing of Dr. Raines. She is an extraordinary professor that has done nothing but show her students kindness and compassion. She was always open to any objective opinions and always made sure our voices were heard. She's an amazing professor, DO NOT hesitate to take this course!

I really enjoyed this class with Dr. Raines. The readings were very informative and interesting. Many of the articles were "liberal," but Dr. Raines makes it very clear that you don't have to espouse a liberal viewpoint to succeed in this class. I learned a lot from Dr. Raines, and I'm excited to apply my knowledge.

Literally the best she is PERFECT! if you never trust the 5 star reviews for any professor trust them for this professor. She is Amazing, helpful, and just great! She is extremely understanding and caring, extremely easy class and the professor is what makes everything awesome. Just a few discussions, video review 2 essays and 5 lectures attendance

I love Prof Raines. It’s Saturday WI class, it was the best choice to take it with her. We only will meet 6 times through the semester. The class is easy & def need book.Grade base on weekly db, a couple media reactions and three easy essays. As long as you turn the assignment in, you will get full points.She willing to help her students pass

An angel sent from above. She is really flexible and caring about her students. She is understanding that life happens and she is not a tough grader. No exams, just 2 papers total and HW assignments every week. Attendance is necessary but since I had the Friday section, we only met sometimes. Best choice for a writing intensive course! Easy A.

Though my screen was always off, I enjoyed watching her lecture and her quirky dances. She is super sweet, awesome, and an inspiring professor. She's what I always wanted in a professor! All of the homework was always based on your opinion and what you think. You will love her and her dog Jupiter!

Professor Raines is the sweetest. She has very clear cut and easy to understand assignments, and she uses readings that are impactful and data driven. She makes a point to give compliments when you do good, and she is always encouraging. If you are interested in doing early childhood education, she is someone you will love and learn a lot from.

Professor Raines is not just one of the few professors that truly care about their students, but is one of the rare people in this world that bring nothing but positivity into other's lives. This is an easy class, but do not let that stop you from genuinely participating in class meetings, as everything you learn will be of absolute value.

Prof. Raines was really understanding of work load, and gave us extra time to complete assignments. She even re arranged the final content for us. The articles you read are very informative, the students are lucky its relaxed. However, dont take advantage of her. You can get behind easily. Let her know if you need help, or extra time.

I absolutely LOVED Prof Raines for both EDUC121 & EDUC165. There are many articles to read but each so worth the time. The lectures were short and informational. She was really flexible with due dates and more than willing to help accommodate me on my personal situations both semesters. I wish I could take her classes again! Absolutely recommend!!!

One of *the* best professors I've had at Sac State, honestly so chill and understanding. She's a really relaxed grader, pretty much a guaranteed A if you put in at least a little bit of effort. Overall, if you have to take a writing intensive course, this is going to be literally the best possible option!

Easiest Class ever with Professor Raines. She was easy with grading, and you get a week to submit discussions or any assignment with no penalty. Two essays, each is 1000 words. With the many readings you have in the reader, 1000 words is nothing. If you really want an easy A and meet the requirements go for this class with Professor Katherine!!

Definitely take Professor Raines! She's a very sweet person and hilarious. She wants her students to succeed and will do anything she can to help them get there. EDUC 121 involves a lot of reading but it is interesting material. Essay prompts are easy to follow. Professor responds quickly to questions as well. Highly recommend!

If you don't like teachers that talk about politics, she's not for you. Has very clear opinions about them and lets them be known. That being said, easy A, 100% on assignments if turned in. Only had 5 meetings throughout the year. Essays are easy, no quizzes or exams but weekly assignments. You have 2 weeks from "due date" to turn assignments in.

Easy way to fulfill GE req requirements. I'm not really into what she's teaching, but it wasn't too bad doing the work. How her class works: 2 assignments each week. (Discussions off reading or video, ~5-7 sentences of writing each) 2 short essays. Participation not necessary as long as you have camera on (ZOOM). Occasional small group work. EZ

She is the best professor I've had! She cares so much about her students and she wants everyone to do well in her class. Her assignments are really easy and manageable. Overall I really recommend taking her!

This class is women focused, I loved the text book and will use for reference for years I imagine. I cannot imagine an easier class than this one for your writing intensive.

I wish I could take all my classes in college with professor Raines. If you take this course with her you will absolutely not regret it.

She's so much fun and her classes are really easy! She understands that life is busy and her assignments are easy written credit. If you do the work you will get an A, and the work is not hard. She also keeps you interested in the topics. Consists of weekly homework and she does accept late work, and 3 essays. Take her!

Professor Raines is an angel. She cares about students a lot. Her class is super easy - as long as you do the work and show that you put effort you will get 100% on every assignment. The class has a lot of homework assignments but thats just because it is a writing intensive course. She also offers a grace period on homework. Take herrrrr!

Would 100% recommend anyone to take this professor. She is extremely hilarious and constantly jokes about talking to herself as she will NEVER pick on anyone to speak. Classes were completely online, with occasional breakout rooms. Only "some-what" negative attribute was the camera requirement, but she mainly just cares if you listen to her lecture

Super easy and caring professor. Honestly didn't even try on any assignments, got 100%. She will always accept late assignments and will ALWAYS accommodate to students given the right circumstance.

Professor Raines class was great, ton of writing but it definitely improved my writing skills overall. I was also able to vent some of my personal problems within my writing, which drastically helped my mental health. Awesome professor! I would definitely take her course!

The best! Writing intensive classes seem intimidating but she made it a breeze. She is very chill/easygoing but don't take advantage of her kindness >:( Put some effort in and you will pass with no problem, likely with an A. She is flexible with due dates, but again, don't be a jerk and take advantage of that. 100% recommend over and over. TY prof!

Best Professor. Really made my last semester fun. Easy to reach and really understanding about having a balance of school and life. As long as you talk to her and let her know what's going on, she is willing to work with you. Took her class online, a lot of group work, but reasonable. Good engaging lectures. Would take again.

Prof. Raines really cares about students learning in her class, but also understands that they have other classes and things in life. Very understanding and gives a lot of leeway with things. The most important thing to do in this class is the two essays which she gives plenty of time for and grades very generously. Easy A class!

Professor Raines is a great! 2 hr zoom class once a week and about 4-5 hw assignments due midnight every Sundays. She makes lectures more engaging and relatable. The zoom classes do require participation and there are break out rooms and the homework assignments are relatively easy. Lots of reading and 2 essays, no quizzes or exams.

I had the asynchronous version of this class which meant about 3-5 discussion posts/small writing assignments a week - which is honestly very easy. Professor Raines wants you to succeed and will undoubtedly get you there so long as you keep up with the course work. A++ professor

This was to fulfill Writing Intensive (WI) requirement. AMAZING PROFESSOR! She sets you up for success! 2 papers (3-5 pages). Do the assignments and you'll have no worries.

EDUC121 is a writing-intensive class but in her class, she made the writing assignments much more approachable. If you need to take a writing-intensive class take her only!

The class was fairly easy, and the Professor was very flexible with her assignments as well as the due dates.

This is an online lecture so it's easy to get lost if you don't keep track of everything needed to do. However, Professor Raines is flexible and understanding with deadlines so long as you communicate with her. All the readings for the classes are really interesting and timely. Would highly recommend this class!

Professor Raines is such a great professor. We had weekly discussions, reading an article or two & writing about points then responding to two peers. Also had three essays that she provides detailed rubrics for. Probably one of the best classes Ive taken in a minute. Professor Raines is also very easy to talk to, so just reach out when you should.

Professor Raines is absolutely one of my favorite professors at Sac State. She cares for her students and their success in the class. It's a perfect class for your writing intensive requirement. Yes, it is a lot of writing which is to be expected, but most of it is reflection and response to her material, which I enjoyed.

Hands down one of the best Professor at Sac State. She is very caring and understand what a college student goes through. Make up work is allowed in this class. Take her. I promise you won't fail her class.

Easy straight forward professor to take for Writing Intensive. There were about 3 papers but they were really easy especially the last one. You have to reference articles from the class but it's real easy as the articles come from weekly assignments that we read and reflect from. It's really not a lot of work and very easy going on deadlines.

I took EDUC 165 for my WPJ requirement. I LOVED the class and Professor Raines is a great instructor and cares a lot about her students. We had two essays and every week had 2 quizzes and a discussion post. The material is very interesting and not too difficult. I highly recommend this class!

Professor Raines is an amazing professor to take for your WPJ course. I took her async class where we met on zoom, attendance is necessary and so is having your camera on. Her class is fun and easy, 2 quizzes, a discussion board, and weekly group work. I had to write 2 reaction papers that are 1,000 words but she gives you everything you need!

This is the best professor I have ever had point blank period. She gave me the best college experience and through zoom and she is super chill and she is herself. I love everything about her and I would literally take her class for fun if I need credits. Take her class with zoom it's worth it! Don't be boring. I respect this teacher heavy!

Professor Raines has an obvious passion for the classes she teaches. She empathizes with students and approaches teaching with such understanding. She cares about each students' success and will make it a point to guide us to have the most success in her class. Great professor! This was my writing intensive course. I enjoyed this class and the work isn't challenging. Be prepared to read though, but assignments were simple. Professor Raines is funny and made this course interesting every week! 10/10 definitely recommend!!

Probably the best professor for an intensive writing course. It doesn't feel like ALL you do is write. Lectures are interactive and work is pretty easy to complete. Professor Raines has a lot of love/ passion for the subjects they teach, and it helps to keep you interested.

Take this class!! It is interesting and you will get great resources from it. I now want to buy a whole bunch of children's books. It is easy. The professor is the best. She cares and is hilarious. She makes the class interesting and enjoyable. I would take any class with her again.

Professor Raines is an outstanding instructor who genuinely cares about their students' well-being and success. Her passion for the subject her knowledge makes the material both engaging and accessible. She is incredibly supportive, as she can accommodate any personal circumstances students may be facing outside of class.

Her class isn't hard, but it is time-consuming. You'll have 2 quizzes and a discussion board with replies every week, two essays only for a writing-intensive course, which is nice. All materials are provided, and she's very clear with grading. She's a respected professor, but if time management isn't your strength, the workload can pile up fast.
