She is pretty easy to understand. She shows a lot of youtube videos. She is young so she can relate to the students. Not bad, but you have to study a lot get A's on the test... like any class.
I really liked her. She was probably my favorite teacher from my first semester. Yes you should study for her tests, but she gives you study guides. You really don't have to read before class. She has powerpoints via blackboard. She let's you know when you will have quizzes. I highly recommend taking her!
She is a good teacher, really relates well to students. You don't really need the book, everything you need to know is on the slides. Awesome teacher, plus she has the most amazing calves I've ever seen!
She is awesome and very helpful. Anything that you ask her, she will get back to you very quickly. And she gives you a lot of opportunities to make a good grade. The class is entertaining, and she uses a lot of funny youtube vidoes during lectures . She knows the first names of many people in the class, even though it is a really big class.
She is a very young and nice professor. She uses a power point for every lecture, then after she's complete with it she posts it online. You don't have to go to every class to get an A. The test are super easy.If you read the chapter, it's impossible to miss more than three. I would definitley take this class.
Katie is so nice! She's really interesting and explains everything really well. She is willing to help anyone out with their grades no matter what. Attendance is extra credit so definitely go, the class flies by anyway. The tests are easy. I have an A in the class and I've opened the book once. Quizzes are simple and she drops some at the end.
VERY HELPFUl!!
Katie is AWESOME! She let's you call her by her first name. Her class is always fun because we watch youtube videos that explain the psych topics we are talking about. If you are ever lost, or screw up on a test, go to her office hours! She's very helpful and is great about dropping grades and giving extra credit. Plus, she's HOT!!!!
TAKE HER CLASS!!!!!!! If you have to take psychology or just want to, take her. She's young but knows her stuff. Plus, she gives extra credit for attendance, and is really helpful.
fun, pretty easy, entertaining class, great teacher, smoking hot!
young & enthusiastic. has LOADS of youtube videos w/ powerpoints, so class is easy going. attendance = extra credit. quizzes are EASY, as are the exams. i would suggest, reading though. if not, you may be screwed. i had psych. my senior yr. so this was just a gpa raiser for me. plus, it's interesting.
she is amazing! this is a class i wanted to go to. take her!
Two words....Smoking Hot! Very easy class. I never opened my book and made 80's on my tests and past with an A+. Drops your 3 lowest quiz grades. Really easy to talk to and really easy on the eyes
Very easy class! Attendance is not mandatory since she posts all her notes online, but she offers EC for going. She shows a passion for psych & an interest in her students. Get to know her, she's an amazing person! Definitely a GPA booster.
she cares. plain and simple. doesnt want to ruin your life. tests arent too hard at all. just go to class and youll rock it
she is an amazing teacher! youtube vids made class interesting & helped you remeber topics by reflecting on vids. i didn't have to open the book the whole time, but you def. want to go to study sesh or look on blackboard for study quest. really nice & understanding. don't take anyone else!! she's great
She is very easy. If you get the chance take her and you won't go wrong. Plus she is also very good to look at. She put a smile on my face whenever i went to the class.
Definitely cannot go wrong here. Extremely nice, and has an outstanding knowledge of psychology. All of the youtube videos were great, and managed to slip in some humor every now and then. As long as you go to class and put in some effort, the class will be a breeze
She is really nice and understands that stuff happens and will work with you on it. Classes are really interesting and fun!
This was one of my favorite classes so far. She really makes class interesting.
This was my favorite class out of the four years I was at UT. Katie makes the lectures fun with her YouTube videos, PowerPoints and examples. She's extremely helpful and really cares about her students and really wants you to learn the material while having fun!
Best psychology professor at UT. I have taken her for both Psych 330 and Psych 432, absolutely love her. Attendance is required but the class is very interesting. She is extremely helpful to students with questions about grad school or anything in general. Great teacher, take her!
Katie is by far the best teacher I have had at UT! She really cares about her students! Read the book,go to class, study her study guides and you will get an A. There is an optional final and the tests are not worth the most points in the class. You have to write a short one page paper each week and those and group activities count the most. Easy A!
By far one of the best teachers I have had in my 5 years at UT. She is very easy to listen to and genuinely cares that you understand the material. She does take attendance, but the class is so enjoyable, you'll want to go! Take any of her classes!
I LOVED this class!! Her lectures are so captivating, she's extremely knowledgeable, and super helpful. Go to class, read the chapters, and participate. These three things will guarantee that you will learn an immense amount.
I had her for 330 and retook her for 432. GREAT teacher. Do anything you can to take her class! She cares, she's young and understands our generation, & very interesting! She loves class participation. You need to go to class and do the weekly writings, and it will be an easy A and you'll learn a whole lot!
MUST TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. She is very knowledgeable about the field of Psychology. I took her for two classes in one semester and for the first time, have really enjoyed learning about Psychology! Lectures are full of intereting material and current movie clips and videos that apply to what you are studying! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Seriously, she is the best psych teacher at UT. Always cares about how students are doing and is willing to help with anything. Always open to discussions about career choices, grad school, and not to mention the class in general. Took her for abnormal psych and retaking her for 432...DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!!!
Dr. Rowinski has done an excellent job this semester i highly recommend everyone to take her :-)
She is so passionate about her job & makes class so fun! I will genuinely miss this class!
This was an amazing class. Dr. Rowinski really does a great job. She uses a lot of examples and answers any questions you may have. She is great to talk to if you go to office hours and she's really knowledgeable about her field. She's very interested in helping her students do well. She is great if you have the chance to take her, do it!
Katie is the best lecturer and most helpful person in general at UT!!! You learn a lot in her class and have fun while doing it. Simply the best :)
childhood psychopathologies: she is the best! shes so nice, really cares about her students, and her lectures are so good (lots of video clips). i took 3 of her 3-hour long classes and they rarely lasted the whole time (sometimes even got out within an hour). she absolutely knows her stuff and is a terrific teacher. her tests are easy and fair.
Amazing teacher! Easy exams. Let's out early. Makes it very interesting. Gives a lot of real world examples and a lot of first hand experience which is super interesting to listen to.
Dr. Rowinski is the coolest teacher at UT. She obviously knows her stuff, cares about her students, and is incredibly reasonable. This class is easy if you show up and listen. Exams are graded very easily and quickly. Highly recommend her!
I took this class in July so I had it every day, but I really didn't mind. She kept the class entertaining with a lot of clips and discussion. The material is so interesting that its hard not to be involved. Great professor and class.
Dr. R is an amazing professor, one of my favorites!! Very knowledgeable and understanding. She cares for her students and is always there when you need help. Her tests aren't bad. Must go to class. Gives some extra credit. Overall, great class!!
Dr. Rowinski is great, she's my favorite teacher at UT so far. Her lectures are interactive and fun, her tests are easy if you just study her study guides. I recommend taking her class to everyone I can. I'm taking her 511 class in the fall. Awesome teacher, awesome class!!!
I took this class over the summer, and Katie is super fun and has a great perspective on life. You'll just want to hear her talk to learn how to be as passionate, patient and genuine as she is! :)
Dr. Rowinski is the best teacher i have had at UT! Her passion for teaching and helping others is unparalleled. She makes each class fun and easy to comprehend. She doesn't do busy work, her assignments clear and to the point. I didn't have much of an interest in psychology before but she changed that. Oh she's crazy hot too! which is a plus!! JM
She is absolutely amazing! She's a child psychologist outside of teaching and really knows what she's talking about, which makes it easier to learn. Not to mention, the material is actually interesting! You can only miss two classes, but I found myself wanting to go, so it wasn't an issue. I absolutely recommend her!
I loved this class and Dr. Rowinski. She's hands down one of the best professors I've ever had at UT. She's so nice and understanding and loves what she does. She always uses power points but she uses a lot of her own experiences and makes it interesting. The tests were all short answer / essay but incredibly easy. Take this class and you won't regret it!
Katie is one of the best professors I have ever had. Very clear and makes class interesting. Midterm, final, a few article summaries, and a couple in class activities. Class is mandatory. I would take any class she taught!
Dr. R is the best professor that I have ever had during my college career. The class was interesting, and because it was a summer class, she was very realistic with assignments. Overall, this has been my favorite class so far. Even if you are not going to be a psychologist, the material is applicable. Highly recommend this class and professor!
Fantastic Professor. Obviously loves her job(s) and it always shows in her classes. I can only hope to be as successful and happy as she is when I finish my trek through university. There is always a smile on her face and she makes you forget about getting the big orange screw for at least her class period. One of UT's best. Crazy hot too!
Very easy class. Rowinski is also insanely interesting because she has worked on so many case studies. The actual material felt like a review of abnormal psychology, but her stories and anecdotes made the class for me. Attendance does count, however she had an optional extra credit paper at the end of the semester.
I had to take an upper-level Psych course for Grad School, and a friend recommended Dr. Rowinski over other professors, even though her only available time was a 3hr weekly lecture. I'm glad I listened, because she's a practicing child psychologist so her lectures are interestingfunny & 3-hours seems shorter than most 1hr lectures, & grades easy
Excellent professor. Lectures are very interesting, and include videos that pertain to the content. She is very positive and helpful. Great class atmosphere. Gives great feedback on need for improvement and what areas to work on. Overall an outstanding professor for the class! Very easy too :D
I liked her class. She tied in everything well to the class and the information was interesting.
This is a great class for anyone who is interested in psychology. Every single lecture was very intriguing to me. Dr. Rowinski is very helpful, and uses great examples and videos. There are only 3 tests. Some of the questions can be tricky, but if you study an average amount for them, you should do well.
Dr. Rowinski is ridiculously nice and approachable. Her lectures can be a bit scattered at times for my liking, but they are good overall. Tests are generally easy, with a few tough questions thrown in for a challenge. Attendance isn't mandatory, but there are in-class assignments that weigh kind of heavily on your grade.
Katie is awesome, but her class is extremely difficult. Her grading scale does not leave a lot of room for error. Even if you made 100s on all the assignments, and straight 90s on the tests, the highest you can get is a B. You have to work extremely hard, but her class is worth it in my opinion.
The class itself is interesting. Katie mostly just reads off the power point, so it can get somewhat boring. There are random in-class assignments, so try to make it to each lecture. She's very friendly and approachable. My biggest criticism is that she does not post grades that are not test grades. She keeps saying that she will but she doesn't.
I don't understand why she has a hotness rating. Her class is not that great. It's only out of 200 points, so one bad grade can be detrimental. Her tests are challenging. I usually made around a 43/50 on the three tests, and I studied extensively for them. She doesn't post homework grades until the end of the semester. Not awful, but not the best.
I took Dr. Rowinski for 330 and 432 since I'm getting a psych minor and I love her to death. Her tests are very straightforward and have a clear format, and she assigns very minimal homework. She's an incredibly warm professor, and I highly recommend her to all!
She is very unorganized and takes a while to put in grades. The class is overall pretty easy but the tests are mildly hard.
Dr. Rowinski is amazing and down to earth. She talks to you as if you have been friends for forever! I've taken her for Psyc 330 & 432. You have to study for the exams because the class is only out of 200 points and if you slack off you can easily make a final grade in the B range. An A or A- is not impossible. I made A's in both classes. Take her!
Dr. Rowinski is an incredible person who makes class interesting through her lecture style and her own stories. Class definitely flies by. Few grades and tests can be tricky, but if you study you should be fine. She obviously cares about her students and is probably my favorite professor I've ever had. Take her if you can.
Rowinski is so laid back and is easily one of the best professors I have taken at UT. Her tests are all multiple choice and she often gives you a couple practice questions that are on the exam. little to no homework. easy to pay attention to cause she shows videos and clips that make class interesting
Professor Rowinski is awesome! She knows the material very well and has great stories to go along with it. You can learn a lot from this class. The only downside is the test are pretty heavy on your grade, but if you go to class and take notes you should be fine.
Love her! Interesting lectures, and 3 mostly easy MC exams, but a lot of it comes from her lecture, so take good notes! Final paper not bad. Easy inclass group activites. Lots of stories from her practice, so you won't get bored. Homework is non-existent and don't need textbook. Attendance required. One of my most favorite teachers ever!
She is WONDERFUL! If you ever get the chance to take a course of hers, you will be happy you did!
The GOAT. She's super interesting, cares about what she's teaching about, is an extremely reasonable grader. Take her if you can.
Dr. Rowinski is an amazing teacher and she really cares about helping us succeed. She offers extra credit for coming to class anytime it is raining, cold, or a class near a big break (fall, spring). I really enjoyed taking this class and I wish I could take her again.
Literally the best. Take this class. Exams are a little tough if you don't go to class, but all the info should be in the slides.
She is amazing! This class was so interesting and I learned so much. It was not hard and Dr. Rowinski is one of the most understanding teachers I had have at my time here. Attendance is extra credit, lecture slides are all on canvas, 7 very few easy homeworks that take maybe 5 mins to do. TAKE HER SHE IS GREAT!
A lot of people rave about Rowinski as a teacher. I will say she was good, but there was a lack of up-to-date grading of assignments. Two people talked in the front row the entire semester and she never told them to shush. There was so much extra credit, there's no way I could have made a bad grade (go to class to get the attendance extra credit).
Dr. Rowinski really made lectures enjoyable. She does take a while to grade and doesn't respond to emails very promptly but she does have a 1 year old so I understand. Her exams are a little tough and I thought I'd get a B all semester but with the extra credit from attendance I got an A. Don't miss a class, it'll pay off. Took for an elective.
Dr. Rowinski is one of those professors you CANNOT hate. She is so caring about her students and takes time to answer every question. She explains things in an easy to understand way, and she definitely wants you to succeed. She is definitely in my top 5 favorite professors at UT. 10/10 would recommend!
Dr. R is such a good prof. It is very clear what material will be on the test, so as long as you show up to class you will pass. She makes the material very understandable.
Great professor!! Really sweet and engaging. There is attendance points, but you get one or two free ones. She sends out practice questions and the topics you need to focus on for the test and the lectures are usually pretty interesting. She does give a lot of personal stories which are cool to hear but take up time. Highly recommend! She's great!
Attendance is extra credit, 3 exams make up 3/4 of your final grade, and the rest is homework which is essentially a completion grade. This class was really easy, the lectures did not add a whole lot to the powerpoints, which she posts online. If you study those for a little while you will most likely be prepared for her exams.
Best teacher you could possibly take. I missed an online quiz and she MADE me a new one to take for partial credit. Easy A if you study her notes and slight supplementary book reading. Interesting, caring lady, cannot emphasize how likeable she is.
Probably one the most caring and helpful professors you could take. Need to read the book to lockdown the A in the class, but I have enjoyed her lectures. Wonderful person
Enjoyed this class. Very interesting, and the professor gives real life examples from her career. Very clear and well organized class.
The best professor I've ever had. She cares so much about the subject and her students. She is so understanding and lenient also. Each lecture is so insanely interesting. She gives real life examples from her own work (she has a private practice). I'm so upset that I can't stay in her class forever. SHE IS THE BEST SERIOUSLY
Dr. Rowinski is my favorite PSYC professor at UT! She does a great job explaining the material and I felt like I learned a lot in her class. She cares a lot about her students, too. You will love her class!
She is one of my favorite professors at UT. She is kind and very knowledgeable. She truly cares about her students success and well being. I will definitely be taking her again.
Literally the BEST professor you'll ever have. You won't regret taking this class. I had many questions and wanted to learn more and she was 100% able to meet after class. Not only about the class but she is extremely helpful outside of class such as grad school options and choices outside. Need a quick rant, she's there and so understanding. LOVE.
Love Dr. R!! Her lectures are so interesting and she loves psych obviously. I bent my schedule next semester to take another class with her. You have to make a 94 to make an A which is a little annoying, but it's not hard if you do all the homework and do decently on the tests.
I enjoyed the class. Grading took a while but there are very few exams in this class. there was plenty of room to boost your grade with weekly assignments that took maybe 5-10 minutes to do Friday nights.
This is an interesting class and Dr. R makes it so fun. She really cares about this subject and the students!
Rowinski is an amazing professor. Take her if you can-she keeps the material interesting. Tests are an easy A if you study the powerpoints and take good notes. You only have to attend 12 days for full attendance credit but the tests are all lecture material so its important to show up. She is super friendly and really cares about her students!
Literally love her
Dr. Rowinski is by far one of my favorite professors I have ever had. She only requires you to show up to 12 classes but I never missed a class even though it was an 8am. The lectures were that interesting. She was extremely fair with clear expectations. I hope to take another of her classes in the future
Very unorganized teacher, rarely posted assignments at the time she said she would, tests over things she does not lecture on, allows the class to talk freely about EXTREMELY triggering things as if it is no big deal (suicide, self harm, etc), she has never once responded to one of my emails, arrives to the classroom 2 minutes before class starts
Dr. Rowinski is so great! Her lectures are interesting, and she uses a lot of visual aid and real world examples. The only thing I did not love about her was how she posts the homeworks pretty last minute/ close to the exam. However, she is super lenient about extensions, and her assignments and quizzes are SO easy. Take her classes!
Dr. Rowinski is kind and wants to help you succeed. However, the time in class didn't offer much over watching a lecture series online. I don't know how anyone succeeds in the class without the textbook. Reading it was necessary for me to feel like I learned the material sufficiently. Tests are open-book and -note.
class was pretty much one big trauma dump and oversharing session without any control from the professor. don't take if you are sensitive to certain topics.
She is very kind and will do all that she can to help you succeed. For the exams, read the textbook because tests are open-book and open-note. Lectures are useless for learning the material, but she tells cool stories about patient interactions. Lectures are pretty much just discussions; however, I did not participate at all and still got an A.
Professor Rowinski holds very interesting lectures, and the class is relatively easy if you put into effort. My only complaint is that students tend to start dumping all their past traumas/personal issues and class gets very off topic and turns into just a big sad story time with little structure from the professor.
I absolutely loved Dr. Rowinski's lectures! She has her own clinical psychology practice and loved to share interesting stories about her experiences. Definitely read the textbook to prepare for the exams. My only complaints are that an A starts at 94 on her grading scale and that she would sometimes not post assignments on time.
I love Dr. R! She is very knowledgeable about the information she lectures on. Every week you have a DB and Quiz, but they are mostly graded on effort. She runs a bit behind schedule, but she accommodates time lost. Her tests are a bulk of your grade and they are significantly hard (timed). If you need to review a test grade she is happy to help!
Only thing I didn't like about her class was that she always puts students on the spot and expects them to share their stories and experiences, regardless of how revealing and personal they may be. If you're okay with that, I'd recommend her class as it is an easy A, and you hear a lot about some of her interesting clinical experiences.
This class was pretty much just the professor trauma dumping the entire time. One time she called me out in class for distracting my peers, I was sneezing. Does not give you lenience on absence as she is heavy on university policy only allowing 1, doesn't matter if your sick or just not there. Also never answers emails, no matter how many you send
Attendance is not mandatory but it does go toward your grade. She posted the lecture slides so you could follow along or just listen. Sometimes it turns into a trauma dumping session. My exams were online and open note. Pretty easy exams if you paid attention.
Attendance wasn't mandatory but it was graded. Class slides were posted for you to follow along if you didn't want to take notes. Sometimes class turned into a trauma dumping session so beware of that. Loved her lectures she's very energetic and cares about her students. My exams were online and open note and not hard if you pay attention in class.
I've taken several of Dr. Rowinski's classes and have loved every single one. She is very relatable, understanding, and smart. She gives great feedback and offers grace periods for assignments. Three unexcused absences are allowed before your grade is impacted. She is wonderful!
Rowinski is caring and a good professor overall. Her class can be boring at times, but she does a good job of presenting the material in interesting ways at times. Attendance is a part of your grade. Trauma-dump sessions do happen and it can be awkward but Rowinski deals with this the best she can.
There were 200 people in my class and almost every day she was like "I'm gonna put you into groups!" and it was so frustrating to try to find your partners and find a space to work. The tests were hard and they are a lot of your grade. A 93.99 is an A-, and a 94 is an A, which was frustrating. Slideshows were helpful for homework.
Literally the sweetest and most caring teacher ever! If you have a chance to take a class with her do it!
Dr. Rowinski is by-far one of the best professors I have had at UT! After taking her for both PSYC 330 and PSYC 432, I would highly recommend her to fellow students. She creates a positive class environment, is very approachable, and presents interesting content. Her background in clinical psychology allows for real-life examples to the course.
Highly recommend taking Dr. Rowinski for Pysch 110! She's a great professor who explains the topics well and makes the class interesting. She is very caring and wants her students to succeed. Tests are not difficult if you pay attention during lectures. I stopped taking notes completely after the first week and have made high A's on every exam.
She has some extra credit opportunities, which I needed because the study guides didn't prepare me for the tests. Three tests, each worth 12% of your grade. There are a lot of homework assignments that do boost your grade, like inquisitive and weekly reflections. But she does take a while to grade the group projects.
I absolutely loved this class! She gave so many extra credit opportunities and was so sweet and caring. Attendance is mandatory but she allows 4 absences. But you won't even want to skip because her lectures are so interesting. TAKE HER!!!
Such an amazing and kind professor. Her background in Clinical Psychology is very helpful with this class. She is easy to contact and usually responds quickly. The work isn't hard in the class, but make sure to study for the exams. As long as you show up and pay attention you will be fine. Late homework is allowed, usually without penalty.
LOVED! Such great lectures and provides the notes on Canvas if you miss class. So great at explaining the material and just such a nice person overall. Tests are application based though, so you have to be 100% familiar with the coursework. But study with the notes and InQuizitives and you'll be fine. Highly recommend her!
Dr. Rowinski's class can be a mixed bag. Lectures tend to veer off-topic, but the open-book exams are manageable if you read the textbook. Unstuck AI was helpful for test prep. Overall, an interesting class if you're willing to put in the work.
I took this class Fall 2024 and absolutely loved it! She genuinely was laid-back and wanted the students to succeed. There were a few homework assignments that felt tedious but late homework was allowed. For the exams, make sure to study the study guide she offers. She also does offer extra credit. Highly recommend her.
I absolutely love Prof. Rowinski!! Her lectures are wonderful, her style of teaching is wonderful, and she's very good at giving examples that makes everything make sense. She does the same assignments each week, but they are due Friday with a 48hr grace period and they're easy. Tests are easy too! She is incredibly understanding and approachable.
Dr. R clearly cares about each one of her students, even learning names in her 200 person lecture. She is compassionate and willing to work with you on any issues you are having with her class. If every one of my professors was Dr. Rowinski I would never want to graduate. Very interesting and relatable lectures. PLEASE take her class.
She is a very caring and passionate professor, the class itself is a little difficult but she gives a lot of real world examples to help you understand it better.
Dr. Rowinski is a very nice professor who genuinely cares about her students and gives tons of grace for absences/etc! She is not very accessible outside of class, I emailed her a couple times and got no response. Overall, Dr. Rowinski is kind of disorganized, but her niceness and grace with the class makes up for it.
Such a good teacher, highly recommend. only class i actually enjoyed going to.
Dr. Rowinski is very caring and knows a lot about the topics she teaches. However, pretty much every single class would get so off topic bc she would let people tell personal stories that were not really relevant to the lecture. I felt like we were always behind because of it. Exams are also really difficult
Dr. Rowinski is a great teacher and her lectures were super engaging. This was one of the only classes I enjoyed going to. We did a lot of fun in class activities, but tests are hard. She uses a lot of analogies and hypothetical situations, and I never felt prepared no matter how much I studied.
Dr. Rowinski is fantastic and cares a lot about her students. She has valuable real-world knowledge and examples of course content. It is a very interactive class and she often asks for student examples/stories. The exams are pretty difficult and hard to study for.
Dr. Rowinski is an absolutely amazing professor and person. I would take her class a million times again. I added a pysc minor because of her. She does fun in-class activities to keep everyone engaged. You never get bored in this class! We had one group project at the end of the semester where you got to pick any psychology topic. Loved this class
Overall, this class wasn't horrible but going into it, I did expect it to be easier. There is a lot of content and the test could be challenging sometimes. There is a good amount of extra work if your grades are low to balance everything out. Dr. Rowinski is so nice though and she really does care how student do.
You can tell she is very passionate about psychology and that pays off and transfers over to the student. She makes it fun to learn and presents the material in a great way to learn. I was able to learn everything easily and have an enjoyable class.
Dr. Rowinski was great! She is a slow grader, but is always willing to correct grading mistakes if you email her. Classes are mainly lectures with presentations, but the content is interesting. Attendance is mandatory, and she always collects attendance at the end of class. She really cares about her students, and I would recommend her courses!
Dr. Rowinski is a great lecturer! I have learned a lot from this class about less heard of psychologist who were just as influential to the field as Jung and Wundt. Weekly homework and readings and the exams are very doable. She seems very passionate about psychology and encourages a lot of group work and in class interaction.
