This class had a lot of work,
Took her for three classes. She's great. Seems tough at the beginning but it's all an act, she's a pushover if you do your work.
She's an awesome teacher. She makes the class fun and very interesting. She's also very helpful and understanding. I highly recommend her!
She's the bomb. You might not learn a whole lot - but you'll have fun.
Expects you to work... Some writing to do class is a bit borring but she is nice and easy to get along with
No Comments
She really cares about the subject and tries to get the students interested. The book for the class is really interesting and easy to read. We also got to watch 2 movies which was nice. She likes to get students involved in the discussions.
I really didn't expect much from the class during the onset. As time went by, I ended up gaining allot of knowledge both of European history, especially that of the French Revolution.
HORRIBLE! I'd rather learn by doing the reading, talking the test. She teaches by lecture, coloring stupid maps, and filling in the blank activities that are not in the reading or lecture. I hated this class and really didn't like the teacher. She seemed to have favorites, and if you weren't one of them, your test scores suffered... STAY CLEAR!
I took 3 quarters of history in a row with Dr. Sadler. Puts a huge emphasis on the process of history, not dates and names. Lots of discussions and maps. Awesome teacher, recommend highly.
Class was okay. But, during our final exam, when all was silent, she was walking down the aisles as we took our tests. As she passed by me, she let out some loud horrible gas. She was so embarrassed that she slapped my desk as stated loudly "Could you go outside next time? That is terrible!" I am shocked at her level of incompetence and cruelty.
very articulate, serious and to the point especially when it comes to the subject of genocide, witty, funny, and she knows what she's talking about
Instructor makes class interesting by gearing tests and homework more to why it happened instead of just dates. The tests are all essay, but they're not hard because everything is in the books. You don't have to even read the book because everything is covered in class. I really enjoyed the class and found the subject interesting.
Anyone who has an attitude problem dont take this class . If you participate and ask questions your grades on test will be better. She has her Doctorate and has traveled the world and there was never a question she could not answer, Shes real and in your face but fun at the same time and you'll learn more from her then most history teachrs you hav
This class was useless. And I'm a history major. So much was left out. Take Fisher if you really want to learn about history at Clark.
Tyrannical, useless, This teacher is CRAZEEE!
Unapproachable, argumentative, confusing, inflexible, rude. I would not waste your time taking any class from her. She only gives you a good grade if you plagiarize right out of the book. What is the point in that? Plan on having no idea whats going on.
Very easy class if you remember to do the reading quizes over the weekend. Little work, study the chapter questions & you'll ace the tests.
Dr. Sadler without question is very educated and knows her stuff when it comes to history! Group work is constant and lets the class interact and get to know one another. Great approach to teaching loved her and am taking her class next quarter.
i liked her alot though i can see why many might find her unappealing. she was pretty strict but had a great tolerance of humor. i was kind of the class "cut-up" though she seemed to like me alot.she often sees me this term and says hello and asks why im not taking her class again. material is easy if you do it right.I'm 17 and i got a low A!
World civ 2 proved to be just as good as world civ 1.. Great lady and knows all one needs to know about history! Group work is fun and helps you with getting to know people. Sad that i cant fit world civ 3 into my schedule. :(
Saddler is one of my favorite teachers. The class is easy if you pay attention and she is fun to interact with. Actually its easy if you don't pay attention too...
This was one of my favorite classes, you won't be disappointed. Dr. Sadler is very prompt and cares about this subject. This was my first B grade though because the way she weights assignments is not with points but with %. I skipped one assnmt and though it would have taken 10m it was 10% of grade. READ THE SYLLABUS and understand her grading.
Dr. Sadler was a fun teahcer the calss was really entertaining and as far as the hardness goes it was pretty east just go to class do what your supposed to and you should come out with a good grade and take the weekly quizzes. Oh yeah and the grades are weighted which was pretty nice.
She expects class participation in group work. One weekly quiz for the chapter is open book done on-line. A few projects like document analysis. If you do your work you will get a A or high B. Midterm and Final are over chapter group work each 25 percent of grade; the essays are written in one hour class. She is great if you are mature.
She definitely made history interesting. I took History of Genocide and she gave me a new perspective on a dark topic. She really encourages discussion and loves it when you come up with your own questions in your online journal. I probably would've gotten an A in the class, except I missed a few posts online. Take this class if you get the chance!
Very imformative class, I believe the professor knows the material better than the authors of the text. The only sidenote is that she seemed a bit on the unapproachable side, and a person never knew if they were going to be singled out for some odd reason. Otherwise very professional class, got a lot out of it.
Women in U.S. History was a wonderful class. Dr. Sadler responds fairly quickly to your questions and has a meeting the first week of class to explain everything and answers questions. You should attend! The class was fun we wrote journals, reseached different women and took two virtual field trips. It was a lot of fun. Do your work=good grades!
Dr. Sadler made history entertaining. I was a little worried at first as she seemed to come across as a tyrant, but she really is a big softie. Highly recommend her as an instructor, but you have to be willing to do the work.
I took this class a couple quarters ago, but I have to say she has been one of my favorite instructors. Definitely act like a grown up and she'll treat you well. You need to write well because her tests are essay format. Not an easy class, but I learned a lot.
If you're looking for an easy A, this is NOT the class for you. She never lectures, so the student has to read from the textbook for everything. She makes your group do 1 presentation a week, along with a weekly test, which is straight from the book. Test questions are very unclear, so you have to pay very close attention.
Dr.Sadler WONDERFUL.If you use the textbook website (norton studyspace) and use the chapter outlines and chapter summaries to take the weekly reading quiz and take COPIOUS notes on your fellow students presemtations of the chap questions (this is what the midterm and final are based off of 50% of grade) you will do will in this class.
Ugh not a good teacher at all! I had her my first quarter of college, not the best way to start your college career! Boring boring boring!! Hard grader! Mid term and finals were extremely hard! Unless you can memorize twenty essay questions all two pages long!!
In my opinion, Dr. Sadler is as great a teacher as she is a fine person. Granted, she is demanding; however, do the work and it will pay dividends.
Dr. Sadler was the gretest teacher I have had since starting my college career. Her classes are difficult and require deication, but thats what college is about. I recommender any and all of her classes to any student looking for a great class and a wonderful, caring, and helpful teacher.
awesome, funny, fub, and helpful. she really knows her stuff, too!
Dr. Sadler is a great teacher but it's a very BORING class. Basically you work on essay questions with your group everyday. It's not that hard of a class as long as you do the weekly quizzes.
Dr. Sadler is the best professor I've ever had. Her dedication to her students is unsurpassed by any other instructors I've had. I highly recommend any of her classes, especially the World Civilizations series. Her grading is hard and her mid terms and finals are very difficult but I would expect nothing less. She is always available for advice.
Great teacher firm but fair. She is really there to help. Mid term and tests she brings snacks and drinks.
She may remind you of the lady from the Weakest Link but don't let that scare you off, she's a good teacher and she knows her subject. Her classes involve lots of textbook reading and group presentations, the midterm and final are in-class essays. Hope you're never on the receiving end of of one of her scary looks, so be prepared for presentations!
This lady is strong and firm and she holds a good standard and is willing to help her students one of the best classes and best instructors
The 127 class is harder than 126, everything has gotten a lot more complicated. Dr. Sadler, however, is fantastic in class discussions and encourages us to connect the dots on our own. This is a critical thinking class!Don't miss out!!
This class actually made me start to dislike history. She assigns an obscene amount of reading every week, which you have to write a 600-800 word paper about. You have to create a character based on your time period, and write the paper from the character's prospective. She is ridiculously picky about the papers, and is a very strict grader.
I'm in her history of genocide course and it is mostly online with one class per week. She is an amazing prof. Clark is "the biggest high school in Washington" but Dr. Sadler expects college level work, unlike so many professors at Clark. If you are in college to learn and think critically, she is the professor for you.
Class wasn't to hard but her style of teaching can be quite ridiculous. She is not forgiving of any circumstances you might be under. Extremely hard grader and marks you down an obscence amount if any of your work is submitted past the due date. I turned in an assignment once 25 minutes late and got marked down 60 points out of 100.
Interesting course, but... she is an EXTREMELY hard grader! Critiques everything you do. Even little mistakes can cost you 10-15 points. Ex. I accidently spelled someone's name wrong once or twice and I was marked down 10 points! If you don't have a fascination or need to take this course, don't. I like being challenged but she is way to critical.
I have taken multiple classes with Dr. Sadler over the last two years, all of which we're outstanding! She will expect you to; a. Think, b. do the work and c. Learn. Poor reviews of Dr. Sadler can only be attributed to a lack of work ethic. This isn't high school, assignments have due dates miss them and pay the price. She cares and it shows!
She is a really great professor with a sort of dry humor. This class is easy if you pay attention, take good notes, and know how to read the textbook, and I mean that. There is a strategy. Her quizzes are online and open book, but it can still be challenging to find the answer. Lots of group work that works really well. Very clear expectations.
this teacher is a good one... but if you want an easy A do not expect it with this professor . She grades extremely hard and is unforgiving of anything that might of came up. She also takes off a large amount of points for late work.
This class was very boring. The discussions each week were the same. You had to create a character from the time and write in their point of view in diary format about the weekly readings. About 800 words. Easy, but after week seven you kind of get burnt out on doing the same thing over and over. She is in fact a very hard grader.
Dr. Sadler isn't a woman whose time is meant to be wasted. She is fairly strict and has high expectations. But in a college setting this is appropriate. Don't let her (awesome) dry humour and stern demeanor scare you off. She's a wonderful teacher who does care about the success of her students. (Slackers, you're better off with Fisher.)
Learned a ton in this class, but it is a lot of work. I liked the journal aspect of the class, but she is a very tough grader. Main complaint: Monday of finals week she assigned a 1000 word research paper with cites due Thursday. Really? Would it hurt anything to give us more time for this?
You couldn't ask for a better Professor. I haven't been in school in quite awhile and it took some time to get back into the swing of things. Take dubious notes. Mandatory when studying for midterms and final. Keep ontop of Canvas & when assignments are due. Homewrk work 40% grade. She is a no nonesense teacher but the best I've seen.
Very nice and understanding lady. You definitely need to get the textbook because we use it to read chapters every week. She is a pretty hard grader though, but I'm also very bad at history so that's also a contribution.
Very good teacher. The class was a good amount of work but she was very helpful and wants you to succeed. I needed clarification on something and she didn't make me feel dumb for asking for help like some instructors do.
She is by far my favorite teacher at Clark and I've taken several classes with her. It isn't an easy A class- none of hers are, but the history of genocide is very worth it. If you do the work, keep on top of reading, and give your actual real thoughts to the discussion, you'll have no problem. I will warn that it is difficult material emotionally.
She is very nice and understanding. It is not hard to get a good grade in this class as long as you do all of the assignments. Her online chapter quizzes were difficult, but other than that everything was a breeze. I would recommend her!
Professor Sadler was one of my favorite professors and I took several classes from her. She did come off as strict but was very helpful and kind to her students (as long as you were respectful and didnt slack). She wants her students to learn something and succeed. Be prepared to participate in class!
This is essentially a creative writing class for women's studies majors, certainly not a history class. Enjoying 900-1200 word essay based role-play is essential to enjoying this class. Don't trust the grading rubric, your will be graded based upon the amount of praise heaped upon the women being discussed as well as your grammar and spelling.
Dr. Sadler has a university-level, no-nonsense approach to the material she teaches. It's a lot to take in, and the reading is assigned for a reason. However, if you ask for help and show a genuine interest in learning, she opens up to you. She's a wonderful woman with great wit and passion and deserves utmost respect.
Eh, I like her as a person, but overall her teaching method is pretty bad. TONS of group work. I think the only thing we have done in that class is write thesis statements. I'm not kidding. You absolutely HAVE to keep up with the reading and I mean you need to really get the material because she wont be teaching or lecturing in class.
She is the worst teacher I ever meet. She grades extremely hard. She also takes off a large amount of points for late work. She change the original questions, also her method is very confusing. Her class actually made me start to dislike history.
Katherine has a PhD in History and likes to be called Dr. Sadler. She knows a lot and expects you to do a lot of work. There's frequent writing assignments, group forums, and quizzes. She makes assignments due almost every night of the week, which doesn't allow you to work at your own schedule. You can get a good grade but its very time consuming.
900-1200 word essays every week, a lot of role-play writing. I love history but the ridiculous amount of work for this ONLINE class makes me hate everything about it. She grades exceptionally tough, especially on spelling on grammar (which ironically she isn't that great at). Also takes off a ridiculous amount of point for late work.
I love History classes and have never had a problem with any other professors at Clark, so I was surprised to find Dr. Sadler as horrible. Besides the heavy workload (I didn't mind it too much), she is the worst grader I have experienced. When she gave feedback, I tried hard to correct my mistakes in the future but she found new ways to grade down.
Dr. Sadler has unrealistic expectations. Be prepared to make this class your life. Although I received good grades on my work and she gives feedback on every assignment, no matter what she would always have something bad to say and criticize everything to the smallest details. She has a condescending attitude as if no one is as intelligent as her.
She always had something megative ti say about your essay, or paragraph or anything. No matter how hard you would try, there would be some remark. Do not miss reading because you will not pass if you do. Do not skip assignements. She is a very smart person and you can tell she is a perfectionist which doesn't mix well with students.
I loved this class. The textbook is rather long and the chapter's are super long, but the websites provide good info. She is funny in a weird way. Cares about Genocide a lot. Makes you aware of other things in life. Tough on grading discussions. Would take class again!!
Condescending attitude, nitpicks every assignment (even if A work), a LOT of reading, having to write journals roleplaying as era specific women you make up each week (between 900-1200 words minimum, depending on the amount of reading, plus an in-character reply to someone else), insists on being called Dr instead of professor, etc. Dont take.
This class was very interesting although the lectures can be a bit boring. She can also be strict and make you work for a good grade. But if you need help with the course you can talk to her and she will help, she's very understanding. ANYWAY, just be in class and ask for help when needed and you will pass the class!
I took this as a hybrid at clark. Our two hour sessions in person were used for discussion of the text. You don't have to attend but it's a huge part of your grade because she grades on participation. The class is really easy, just read a couple pages of each reading and you should be able to participate once or twice and receive full credit.
Dr. Sadler was my favorite professor I have ever had. Her class is very tough and she does make you work for the grade, however she is so caring and gives such amazing feedback it is worth it. I was blown away by her knowledge and her grading criteria was so clear that if you put in the work you'll pass!
Dr. Sadler truly knows her way around history. Expect to write 1-2 papers weekly, with about 300-500 word count requirements. She has very clear expectations from the get-go, and your grade will reflect your participation and desire to learn in this class. Book is regularly referenced and required. I cant express how great this course was!
Dr. Sadler is a wonderful teacher for those who either love to learn or are good at faking it. She is extremely knowledgeable, but can have an abrasive personality towards some. Don't let her tough demeanor fool you, she just has an odd sense of humor. The work for the class isn't hard if you read the book and do the work.
Dr. Sadler expects a lot from you throughout the course. She hands out an insane amount of homework and is a tough grader. However, she wants best for her students. Her feedback helped me tremendously. Besides her strict rules, I learned a lot from her class and would take her again. With time-consuming work, I got an A in her class. Just work hard
Dr. Sadler is amazing! She's really passionate about History and excited to go into details. Showing up to every class will make this a breeze; the in class discussions are a source for good grades on assignments, midterm, & final. Don't be afraid to speak up in class, the more you engage (even if you are unsure of answer) the better off you'll be!
Dr. Sadler knows what she wants and will give you only the grade you work for. Very tough grader and gives lengthy feedback even on assignments I got 100% on. I got an A but barely and by spending hours on hours of studying & reading. Super good email responder & makes assignments and expectations clear which helped the online class go smoothly.
pretty sight forward. do what is asked and you should do fine. Other posts are accurate on the expectations as well.
She gives great feedback and helps you improve your papers. You will have to type a lot of papers, but that's probably expected in a history class.
Dr. Sadler is a caring and dedicated professor. As long as you stay on top of assignments, you'll be fine. It's definitely not an easy A though. If you're motivated and good at writing, you're golden.
The overall class was intresting. But the way she graded stuff was completely un-fair. Her grading system makes no sense. But overall shes a funny teacher. Sometimes (BTW I took World History 127)
Dr. Sadler made an 8am history class enjoyable, and even comical at times; that should be enough of a reason to take her. Throughout the term we answered questions in groups, writing theses and supporting details for essay questions that would ultimately appear on the midterm and final (win-win). Only hard part was the online quizzes.
Dr. Sadler was a very good professor to take from. She gives great feedback and has excellent communication. You do have to work for your grade and keep up on your homework, but if you do that it is pretty easy to get a good grade. I am definitely going to take from her again!
Katherine Sadler was a very interesting teacher. On one side, she's nice, cares for her students in some ways that some students may not like, and has a very unusual sarcastic sense of humor. On the other side though, she talks a lot in class, because that's what the assignments are around, which can be very boring for us teenagers.
She leaves extensive overly wordy feedback on literally every single assignment. No matter how well it was completed, she will always have something negative to say. Also, I have been in this class for one semester and couldn't tell you one bit about any actual history content learned, but I sure can show you the correct format for a thesis.
Dr. Sadler gives great feedback on every assignment you turn in. The Inquizitive assignments helped solidify knowledge on the chapters we read. Sometimes her sarcasm was offputting, but overall had a good experience. Took her class online.
Dr. Sadler was the worse professor I have ever taken. She was very strict about each assignment. She would give me a lower grade for not including information that was not required in her initial instructions. Her instructions were very unclear, along with the test questions. I worked so hard in her class, and barely managed an A. Do not take her!
I'm currently enrolled in Dr. Sadler's history of genocide class. The workload is slightly more than average, but she honesty puts in more work than you will. She gives exceptional feedback, that most likely has a higher word count than your initial assignment. She also sends announcements about current issues that are really cool. Great class.
Dr. Sadler is very organized and precise. She gives feedback and expects students to use it. She is what I expect out of a college professor. If you have questions, she's prompt to answer them and is willing to work with you. My absolute favorite professor of all time!! Expect to do the work, though. It's worth it, you will get a lot out of it!
Hands down, she's my favorite professor that I've ever had. She is tough, but if you really absorb her feedback (which is extensive, and incredibly helpful) you will learn a lot. If you have no interest in improving academically, or you're looking for a cake class, she is not for you. If you like to be challenged and learn, I 100% recommend her.
She actually reads all your work thoroughly to see if you are not typing random gibberish unlike the average professor. There is a lot of reading but it is interesting and the work isn't too hard, but you can't half-a** it. This may be bad for some students but she is respectable for actually doing what a professor is supposed to do.
Her class is unclear in its grading criteria and the work is done in such a particular way that I don't think she understands her audience. She teaches the class like its supposed to be the only one a student should be taking. She grades down for not including information or particulars that ARE NOT covered in the reading. Stay away.
I would never take this professor's class again. She is a very picky and hard grader. She will grade you down a lot for any misunderstandings in an assignment. She is very strict with her late policy. If an assignment is a couple minutes late, she will not grade it. I put a lot of effort in her class however it is not appreciated in this class.
The class was pretty interesting but it could be a little difficult at times. A week consisted of reading a chapter in the textbook, taking a test and writing a discussion post from the reading. Dr. Sadler is a good professor and gives useful and extensive feedback as she wants to see you improve your work as you move on throughout the course.
Dr.Sadler's class was honestly one where I could really enjoy what I was learning. She made sure that with every discussion, she included very detailed responses to them and did not grade too harshly. You can really tell she loves what she does!
