Mrs. Tew is an excellent teacher. We didn't have to buy a book or anything, she gave the material to us. Everything is very straight forward and if you have questions she will take the time to answer them. Since the class is for Non-Bus. majors, she dumbs everything down and talks about a wide variety of topics in Accounting. I highly recommend!

Professor Tew is amazing! Accounting is really not my subject, but she was always available, and genuinely cared about my personal goals for the course. A lot of online professors don't give you much attention, but she was reliable and wanted you to actually understand the material rather than just memorizing it. 1000% recommend.

Professor Tew is really great about making the content clear and easy to understand for non-business majors. She also shows you how the information is applicable to your own life/career which gives you a lot more motivation to do the work. You definitely have to go to class and do all the work but its nothing too complicated.

Nice woman, can tell she loves what she does. Talks fast though and attendance/participation is the only way to learn the content. Weekly quizzes and homework.

ACC 221* Katie is very informative and passionate about accounting. If you take the time to show up, read the textbook, pay attention, and do the assignment, you will do well.

Took her for ACC221. Lectures can be boring at times, but overall she is a good professor, and explains everything well. A good amount of homework through the textbook, but if you do the homework and pay attention in class, you will do well.

Dr. Tew has a lot of experience with accounting and is very knowledgeable in the subject. However, for an intro to fin accounting class, she does not always explain the basic concepts in a way that makes sense for people new to the subject. She provides plenty of resources to help you succeed in the class with lots of access to UA help.

As long as you attend classes and pay attention during lectures this class is very easy. While the grades are weighted for 65% of exams, the exams themselves are all multiple choice and very straightforward. Homework is checked for completion and weekly quizzes are very easy considering you get a cheat sheet on them.

Attendance is mandatory and she takes points off if you're on your phone. The homework and assignments are on paper. She's a good professor and her lectures are interesting, but be careful because a lot of people fail her exams but you can still get a good grade in her class even if you do. Kinda weird but i'd recommend her and i'd take her again.

Gives you a clear path to do well, and if you do the work, you can get an A or a B. The students who didn't put effort into the course got mad at her for being too hard instead of just doing the work. Yes, the 2nd exam was hard but she curved it 10 points so the average was a 75, and then she made the final easier. So at least she's fair.

favorite professor. uses real life business scenarios to teach accounting so we apply what we are learning. I feel like I really understand accounting. hard but fair. curves if necessary.

I loved her teaching style. She made accounting interesting. She is very passionate about the topic. You have to do the homework and study all the review problems before tests to get an A.

Overall, I thought she was a good professor and explained the course material well. As an into to accounting course she wrote down almost everything math based so we had the opportunity to take good notes in class.The exams weren't great, and it was a lower than usual average, but definitely doable.Also took the students opinions into consideration

Great professor. Tests are tough but she clearly explains what will be on them and even hints at questions during lecture—if you show up and pay attention. I did well because I studied, did the homework, and read. The hate she gets is unfair and mostly from students who don't put in the effort.

Professor Tew IS demanding but in all the best ways. She expects a lot from her students, but she is fair, everything is clearly stated in the course syllabus with a grading rubric, and she is responsive when help is needed. She is tough but exceptional and you WILL thoroughly learn financial accounting through her well-designed course!

Prof Tew is truly one of Miami's finest professor. She genuinely cared about her students understanding of the class material. One of the best professors I have had since being at Miami.

Prof Tew was always there when I needed help. Even if it put her at an inconvenience she was still there helping her students. I loved the way the class was set up and how she offered pre-grading options for us. She gave amazing, inspiring, and genuine feedback that sparked my interest in the course!

The instructor was always available and always open for any questions, or concerns. We were given lots of material to work with and support us while completing this course. Writing everything down helped me learn the concepts better.

Now that I'm in the next accounting class (ACC 222) I can see how good she was. She wrote everything down so we could take notes and she gave us a lot of hints on what would be on the exams. You have to do the homework or you will fail the exam.

Genuinely the best teacher I've ever had. She has super engaging lectures and does not assign too much homework at all. Projects are doable and she offers help sessions for them. She makes the class super interesting and engaging. Also offers plenty opportunities for extra credit. Highly recommend.

She uses a lot of different business stories to keep you engaged in lectures and relates them to accounting. She is challenging because you can tell she cares about us learning the material and doing well in our careers.

I love this class. The tests are a lot of the grade, but she has extra credit that helps out. I like her lectures and she makes it interesting.

She makes difficult topics as easy as possible to understand, but the class material is very hard. She gives a lot of help, gives time for questions, and provides a bunch of extra study material. Doesn't allow technology in class besides ipads to take notes, but if you pay attention and do the work it's very manageable.

One thing about Professor Tew is she is constantly adapting to student feedback and changing the course for the better. Attendance is 5% of your grade and no technology in class but she gives you a workbook. Occasionally, she seems scatterbrained, but she will teach you needed material. I had this professor in fall of 2024 and I thought I was going to get a C+ because I had a 79% in the class and she rounded all the final grades so I got a B-. The cutoff ended up being a 79.0 for a B. She was really hard, but she curved the second exam and also the final grades so it felt fair to me.

Prof Tew is a good professor but she means business. Lots of story telling in her lectures which sometimes is nice but sometimes it's too much. Honestly, she's not as hard as I was expecting though, just pay attention and do the homework and you'll be fine. Quizzes every Friday which kinda sucks, but lowest 3 get dropped. I loved professor Tew and how she related accounting to the business world by telling stories about different types of businesses. It helped make accounting feel more useful. You have to do the work and attend class to do well.

I took the course online as a winter course and she was really good about touching base to make sure I wasn't lost and getting behind. There was lots of homework though. Can't really get around that since it's only 3 weeks long

I had Katie fall of 2024 which I think was her first semester of ACC 221. she made a couple mistakes like making the second exam too hard and the final exam scantron didn't have enough bubbles, but honestly what matters most is what the professor does about it. She curved the second exam and she curved the final exam and final grades. It was fair.

I didn't enjoy this class much since I'm not into accounting, but Katie was a great person and told cool stories. It felt like a classic “college” class with lots of lectures, which was hard for me with attention issues. Still, I'm glad I got it done early. Show up to class and study for the exams if you want to do well.

The large class was kind of hard, but that's how FSB designs this course. I think Katie does well with managing it compared to a couple other large classes I've taken. Sit up front if you can and take good notes. Pretty easy to do well if you do the work from the beginning.

Great class - I didn't think I'd like it this much. It's nice that the classes are 55 minutes instead of 80. Katie is helpful and gives you lot of information about exams.

Katie has been my favorite professor at Miami thus far. I love sitting in on her lectures, as you get so much out of it. My number one recommendation is to take advantage of the supplemental instructions to better your understanding and excel in the class. Easy A if you put in diligent work.

I loved this class and enjoyed accounting (surprisingly). You have to work hard from the start in this class to get an A because it is cumulative so if you get behind it's hard to catch up.

ACC 221 with professor Tew made me change my major to accounting. It's a great class and she's a good professor if you actually apply yourself, go to class, and pay attention when she is showing you how to do the accounting. Her textbook is lowkey super helpful and this was a great class.
